A really good, solid night fragrance for fall/winter. It gave me a super romantic vibe. So sad it got discontinued, I miss it...

Louismanuel

Just a remark on below review by
PaperRouteP

This is all but a nice night scent/going to bed.
For sure it ain't nice, for it is a Gem, or Masterpiece.
And I never heard anyone before who uses this before going to bed.
In fact, I still remember one reviewer here on FB, must be somewhere before 2014, who said about this fragrance:
"I work in a Casino as a croupier and on regular base people, both male and female, compliment me and ask what I am wearing."
But hey, to each his own.

I just wished someone here in my house didn't break the spray top. My 125 ML is now half full but leaking a bit.

PaperRouteP

This definitely is unisex not very masculine. I get a ton of powder for a good 40 mins this is a nice night scent/going to bed. Best part is the dry down

efunmefun

I miss this so much :(

Designers will never make scents like this again with this price. This a gem and high quality fragrance. It’s a dreamy Paris in a bottle, french and gentle.

I called this my Prince Purple Rain fragrance. This starts with a type of leather or suede. Mixed with the unlisted powdery purple note, possibly violet, it's interesting at this point. After 30 min the leather is gone and you are left with a purple powder only scent. This makes it unwearable for me, because it's feminine from that point on. Also, it starts acting like a perfect dupe of Bulgari Black. I actually called out a friend on this, being almost sure he was wearing MIP. Turned out it was Bulgari. The bottle is nice. But overall, nothing to spend the bank on.

Saw a review that stated Seduction in Black Antonio Banderas is 90 percent similar, anyone else feel the same way ?

If Guerlain did a Shalimar Milèsime Green Tea flanker this is what it would smell like.

The leather is light and Guerlainy and there's a vanilla undertone perhaps something to do with the benzoin and/or tonka.

Lovely, but not different enough for me to purchase a bottle (which in any case isn't possible now apparently).

Very safe, and after 20 mins or so it becomes clear that the quality of Shalimar is lacking here.

Pushi

Love, love, love this one.

Caesar's Legion

Very nice blend of Lemon, Leather, Tea, Incense, Benzoin, Amber, Tonka Bean. The EDP version is best here. Similar to Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir EDT. That too had the Tea and Benzoin note.
Bottle is a work of art for Midnight in Paris. Too bad it's discontinued

scentofhorses

I really like this powdery scent,I generally like it more masculine, but I will use this perfume until it integrates with my skin scent. When it is finished, I hope I can find another bottle again.

Ferra_Verto

Powdery and warm leather-suede, becomes sweeter and a touch nuttier as it dries down. There's a nice incense cord running through, keeps it interesting.
Best in autumn & winter, my bottle is well macerated so it projects well and lasts for over 7 hrs. My bottle is on its last legs sadly enough, pity it's discontinued.

Verdict - get the bergamot in the opening …. Dries down to something like Iris it’s not really powdery , I also get a mild tea 🍵 wouldn’t compare it really to *dior Homme intense* but yes there is a similarity, *Dior Homme intense* is more harsh on the Iris

This dry down can pass for being nice … but not nose blown …. ( I think it’s the tea and almond vibe with tonka ) and for its time 2010 it could pass for a great fragrance especially in dry down

Also checked the notes in fragrantica of cos …. It was Not easy to detect what’s going on inside the dry down

Overall it’s ok fragrance …. Not bottle worthy for me ..

Longevity i would give 4 - 6 hrs not more than that

Yap in dry down that’s where all the magic is , tea 🍵 tonka , almond , Styrax but all In Mild moderations …

Not out there screeming .. being it’s EDT

The dry down on this is amazing. Love this scent wish they would bring it back.

Lovely soft men's amber fragrance, good performance from what I remember.

This used to be around £30 on Amazon when it was available....seems to be worth a small fortune now!! I'm not sure when they discontinued it? It seems most of Van Cleef & Arpels men's fragrances are expensive and exclusive now, wasn't always the case. I also recall feeling some reluctance throwing the bottle out when I'd used it up, as it was a gorgeous astro themed bottle, unlike anything else I owned. I wish I'd have kept it now. Although I do think the bottle was more memorable than the fragrance.

50shadesofscent

If there is a dream in a bottle then this is it. Very soothing, sweet, gentle and seductive fragrance. Can be worn by anyone really.

I found this randomly for about 26USD (converted), 125ml sealed but with about 25ml missing and the atomiser is broken, also leaks from the bottom if I shake it. Bought it cause of the packaging, beautiful bottle and name. Love the pleasant tea note, looking for a 100ml decant bottle to save the remaining juice but there’s nothing as beautiful as the original bottle.

Bklynboy

@sgd11
Yep, I bought the EDP on overstock for $30. I always kick myself for not buying at least a couple of bottles lol.

sgd11

I remember the days when you could get this on discounters for $30…boy do I miss this juice

Madcity Boy

One of the best winter/ fall scents. For date night with a strong statement. Mysterious and alluring. Luckily I was traveling on business trip, during the evening I went to the local mall, looking to spend some time to find gift for my significant other. Between shops I crossed a perfume center and the set up of it got my attention. Went inside sample several colognes then. I saw it. I knew it was selling on hight prices on the net. So with all respect and delicate question I asked how much. The salesman replied $55 for the 125 M. Is it your final price. He said.$50 is my final price. So I bought among others. What a great success. It's legendary one.

discreescent

Very pleasant vanilla amber leather, smooth and warm.Old schoolish, but classy.
On the feminine side and like something you are familiar with,so no wow factor, quite simplistic combo..but very, very comforting.
The leather used in it is pure class..the amber note as well. Those two dominate troughout the journey.
I got a broken bottle ,which spil over my underwear in my trolley, but oh boy it smells heavenly. And it lasts long.

This is better than I thought It would be. Yeah just reallll smooth, almost like cool steel, or cool dense night air. not even as rubbery as bvlgari black. It more well blended, like actual soft leather gloves (not just labdanum bomb) with a hint of like a burning white candle 🕯️ , then later this lemon definitely comes out and makes an appearance and this last part with a hint of dried spice like white pepper/citrus is good for 7-8 hours on skin. It’s masculine in my opinion.

ckorp8

Beautiful powdery scent that I wish would have a better projection power. Beautiful bottle that came with a really bad sprayer. Not that much of a loss if can’t find this as it’s not really as great as it’s hyped to be. Still a very likable scent though.

AlucarDFirecaT

Imagine yourself on a late summer night, it’s cool, you’re lying in the fresh grass with a suede blanket staring at the stars, in your hand a cup of black tea smoking up your nostril, you’re well soothed to let your mind wander.
A fragrance so sweet and enveloping...

I stepped off the plane at de Gualle, picked up my leather duffel, glanced through the windows grimy with international dust and I saw a rail thin man in an ill fitting suit jacket, smoking intently, watching me from the taxi stand.
I went to get in what I thought was a taxi. Suddenly the thin man pushed in behind me, slamming the door before I could speak. The driver gunned it onto the motorway and the smell of airplane fuel whistled through the windows. With the cigarette dangling from his mouth, the thin man produced a butcher paper package, weighty, wrapped in twine. He then put it in my hands, motioning for me to open it. As I pulled at the twine I began to notice a humming sound that seemed to be coming from everywhere, the voices on the radio turned into chiming drones and I looked up, trying to focus. I looked back at the package, which had come open and saw a irregular stone with a slice on it that looked surgical. As I lifted it to look at it, it came to me that I was looking not a flat surface, but an opening into a space. Like looking out of a window at night, just deep, inky black, filled with glittering lights. I put my face into the stone and was pulled through, or maybe I fell... birthed into a cosmic dance floor full of jazz and clinking glasses. I sat up, realized that I had forgotten my duffel and wondered if there was a lost and found.

gweyslabao

I went through multiple decants and samples of this already. Either I can’t afford a bottle or can’t find one. So if I win the lottery, I’ll be buying up bottles of this. Just wait for me my babies!!!

This juice is special to me. I have so many memories with this scent. I can understand that if you were to blindbuy this now without having smelled it in the past, you could end up being disappointed. Especially when you have smelled lots of fragrances in your life, this probably won't be smelling that unique, and could possibly come off slightly synthetic.

I was 12 years old when this released and it changed my perception of men's fragrances. My dad mainly wore fresh, citrussy aquatics during the early 2000's (Aqua di Gio & Armani White for Him — funnily enough also done by Olivier Polge), and thus this incense/leather/ambery DNA was completely unfamiliar to me.

I'm surprised to see the fanbase for this fragrance has gotten so big now, even though a few years ago it got discontinued due to bad sales. Ironic how we always tend to take stuff around us for granted; only when something's gone we understand better its value and the importance it portrays in our lives.

i love it , i cant find it any more

Bring this beauty back!

Luckily I bought my bottle back in 2015 when it was still reasonably priced. I like it but barely wear it because it leans feminine in my humble opinion. However every time I wear it at least one person asks what it is. A few went bananas over it. Mostly women. But a few men too, who frankly are much more stylish than myself. If you never smelled MIP. Think o Bvlgari Black original without the rubber note, vintage Royal Copenhagen (vintage is the bomb!) And some amped up leather and touch of sweetness. Apparently the juice has become iconic. Like I said some people love it like crazy.

Archie111

Blind bought 125ml after finding it for about $60. Didn't regret it, got some compliments at the first wearing, but what's more important - I really enjoy it myself. Smells sweet, but has some greenish freshy vibe through drying. The bottle says it all, and it's a fantastic one with quite nice cap and an excellent sprayer.
If you find it, just get it, this is really worth having.

Testing this on my skin today for the first time. I was very excited to try this because of the hype around it, and I do like it, but maybe my expectations were high. I don't get much amber from this, at least what I know of amber to smell like, because I always seem to have a different experience with amber as a note. To me, it's mainly vanilla + leather that dominates this, it has a syrupy quality that almost comes off like caramel and I also get the smokiness. I agree with the votes on this being unisex. My decant was just a small blotter sample but it didn't project well or last long, maybe with an atomizer it would perform better. Overall this is good to me but not a love. But the bottle looks absolutely gorgeous!

BG92

I bought it as a replacement for Bvlgari Black after it discontinued - very similar but less rubbery, less deep and less "full". Subtle frangrance. I preferred BVL however this was a decent replacement.
Neverthless it got discontinued as well.

ScouseRach

Babypowder on a rubber catsuit! a little bit like Bvlgari Black but not as good in my opinion.

Dean ja

Love the bottle. The smell reminded me of smelling baby powder that is laying on a new tractor tire. Basically, powder and rubber with a little amber. I really liked this. I bought a few bottles back when you could get them for $18! I do miss this fragrance very much. Would love a re-release made exactly the same.

La Nuit Noir

Best mysterious, arty, value designer fragrance that got discontinued - of all time.

Midnight In Paris is an amazingly unique black leather & amber scent that comes across as very mysterious and powdery. It's like a powdery black leather jacket coated in amber smell - that's the most accurate way I can think to capture it.

I struggle to find a situation to wear this, and now that it's discontinued I tend to save it and use it very sparingly. The best way I can explain when to wear this is, fittingly, if I were exploring Paris at midnight (a peaceful yet dark and intriguing setting). It can work as a date night scent but I think it's best as a fragrance to be enjoyed by the wearer more than anything else, it's arthouse while being very likeable to a mainstream audience.

This was such great value while it was regularly available and the presentation is still up there with some of the best fragrances from expensive niche houses.

@Franchizzy

I’m often wonder why great frags get discontinued. Then I think of great characters in films or comedy that are retired/killed off at their peak.

Probably not related, but screenwriters do this to avoid falling into complacency, adapt to changes in people’s tastes/attitudes, to mix things up, loads of reasons.

Akin to some of the great boxers of our time, it’s often better to go out at the top than continue something you no longer have your heart in.

franchizzy

I tried messaging the brand to revive this beauty but sadly they don’t want to make money….it’s a shame because if this was going for 80-100 people would buy and they would receive huge profits. Seems like someone is not smart enough to figure that out unfortunately.

Thatbwoy

Lovely Amber and leather fragrance I really like this and think it’s a fragrance that’s worth it’s hype, but I don’t think I’d buy it as it’s good and a really nice scent but it’s no different from similar scents in the same vein soo wouldn’t buy it

I liked the bottle and was drawn to it. Such a magical bottle that resembles the midnight sky with stars arranged in constellations. Wow! Wonderful amber fragrance!

EauDeBaldy

Amber, leather, etc. is said to be in the main accords on this page.

Honestly, no. It's straight up baby powder and stays that way.

Definitely not a bad fragrance... but not for a guy... at least, not this guy.

Tigerhoods1

this at the very least should be considered unisex. in my opinion it's very powdery for a man

nguyenvuhungvuong

I just wonder how can they discontinue a beautiful perfume like this. VC can bring it back and make more profit. But they do not. BVL and Prada can not compare to MIP

Rob321x

Can we get a petition to get this gem back?

hristo.bogdanov

It is just really unique...
No Prada or Bvlgari bring the same feeling as Midnight in Paris...
Really gentle, complex and long lasting.
Have a sealed 125 ml bottle so pm me if interested in EU

MIND BLOWING sophistication, uniqueness, projections, silage, longevity. Outstanding! very different and something not for everyone - i can see that.
this stuff is so potent, no way can two sprays be exceeded.
This is a true masterpiece - highly recommended! (for a test - like always) :-) fragrances should never be blindly bought - they own you or they don't....

6/5 on the whole, especially since nothing this interesting and captivating has come in the recent times.... yes i know i am raving about it :-)

brilliant, gorgeous stuff! not for conformers though. I mean not for those guys who are careful about whats manly and whats feminine... come on guys live! push the borders.... these aspects of femininity and masculinity are also culturally constructed and vary.

Alireza.D2

Twin brother of MIP-EDP.
So similar that would be totally identical for an amateur nose.
This is a lighter brighter version of EDP.
Project much better but longevity is a little lower.
EDT is shining in autumn while EDP in winter.
Citrusy notes are bolder here while leather is bolder in EDP.
Notes are sharper here while EDP is a better mixture imho.
I find EDP as the winner of this match.
Age:+25
4/5
Long lasting and fair projection.

Vikkinca

If there was one fragrance I wish would make a comeback, this would be it. I miss Midnight In Paris more than any other💔

IAmStaka

I normally think that if a fragrance gets discontinued, there's a pretty good, if not many reasons it got done so.

However, why this gem was discontinued is beyond me??! It's stunningly good and sucks that people ask for $200-$250 for it now.
If a fragrance house wants to make big bucks they should make a fragrance, 95%-100% similar to this. I know, cuz I alone will buy 10 backup bottles.

Van cleef, if you're reading this - WHY ?! Why would you discontinue this beauty?

Stardust Over Place Vendome (Domitille Michalon Bertier & Olivier Polge, 2010)

Scentrack: Grace Jones – La Vie En Rose

Although Midnight in Paris was not novel nor the best fragrance ever, it still created a strong cult following. In fact, it was very familiar, but somehow pushed all the right buttons. Clean and warm at the same time. Romantic like Paris. Fragile like love. Packed in a beautiful bottle with the star constellation above Place Vendome.
The composition starts with very shy bergamot combined with a strong herbal aspect resulting in an Earl Grey accord combined with a touch of rosemary. Immediately, rubber and amber accords surround the tea and propel the fragrance toward powdery and oriental territories. A very nice soft suede accord warms up the composition. The monotony of oriental and powdery notes is successfully disrupted by the pink floral touch of lily of the valley – a trick earlier deployed by Olivier Polge in Kenzo Power (2008). In my opinion, it is hard to distinct heart notes from the base ones. Suede, almonds, sweet benzoin, soft incense, resins, Tonka bean and amber are amalgamated in a big, oriental saga that lasts on my skin for ages.
Midnight in Paris shares many similarities with several Annick Menardo’s successful releases like Bvlgari Black, Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin or Yves Saint Laurent Body Kouros. While Bvlgari Black, a nominally unisex creation, is a contemporary ascetic creation, Midnight in Paris, marketed for men, is lavishly expanded toward both genders. Unfortunately, both fragrances are discontinued, but the idea lives on in Daniela Andrier’s Prada Luna Rossa Black. Still, it will be nice to see these late legends on the marker again to satisfy my fondness for romantic leathery, powdery orientals.

I don't understand. This bears absolutely no resemblance to Bvlgari Black. None whatsoever. I own almost a full bottle of Midnight in Paris. Sweet and bland with no discernible notes. Maybe the sweetness comes from the tonka and benzoin? Is there a hint of almond there? I'm waiting until it is bid up on ebay to around $10,000 a bottle and unload it.
I paid less than $30 and that was overpriced.

Miof Mela91

O yeah! Masterpiece that gets the most compliments. Look of bottle and scent of smell are both at same page. Feel of new love, new blossoms, new dawn and everything new is what one gets from it. This is such a magic and true love with the powdery, mellow, sweet, incense and balsamic notes. Overall, this is amazing blend of floral, amber, tonka bean and herbal notes that may be worn on any time of year. Safe for every season, every weather condition and every occasion. Silage and longevity are strong too making it more and more lovable. Fresh opening of citrus and leathery notes followed by wet asphalt and base notes of powdery, soft vanilla. This is intoxicating and smokey juice with the warm, loving and cuddling dry down. Elegant, sophisticated yet amazing beauty! Go for it!

damaz-ndiaye

This a fairly decent scent, it is not any oud or incensy scent in a sense that its light and struggles to perform, but is a very unique scent, and the bottle is beautiful. I blind bought it because all of the positive reviews. I would describe it as an aromatic powdery and slightly and the sweet side, and its very light I guess the reason for it being unisex. I wouldn't I say I was disappointed but some people might enjoy it more than others.

Freedomlover

Oh my god just looked at the value of these bottles.... Unbelievable!!!!!!! I purchased a few bottles from Amazon a good few years ago then ah I liked it so much boughs a few more backup bottles as it was only around £25.00...now its gone crazy... I'm totally shocked but glad I bought backup bottles....

mehdiab

This is the best smelling designer fragrance I have come across. 10/10. The epitome of Designer Perfumery. So Beautiful, the compliments flowing from everywhere, Mysterious, Mystical experience, yet sexy. I hope they release it back In Edp or Pure parfum concentration.

oceanbreeze

Those who wrote that this fragrance is cheap because 5 years ago one can purchase it for less do not understand the reason it was sold that cheap. Before 2007 all fragrances that were not sold had to be destroyed. Then this was banned because such actions hurt the environment. So, unsold bottles started showing up in discount stores and online. Thank those who banned it, so you can buy fragrances for much, much less than in department stores.

protosv

Pssst.....guys you NEED to check out Dua Fragrances Champs Elysees Midnight. Before I get flamed to death for mentioning The Unspeakable Brand, let me say that I've shelled out my own $250+ for a big bottle of EDP which currently sits in my collection, and I've gone through several 5ml decants of the EDT, so I know both scents well. The Dua is shockingly spot on....it nails the airy powdery sweet aura, complete with hints of bergamot in the open and soft refined leather in the base. DO NOT pay top dollar on auction websites for the original, unless you absolutely must have the original bottle to look at (it is one of the more beautiful bottles out there...). If all you care about is the juice, you're going to get the exact same experience for much less $$$.

Plus, for those of you who are against clone houses in principle, I totally understand where you're coming from in terms of supporting original creativity, but if the houses discontinue their fragrances and a clone house wants to bring it back for us to experience, then I think it's fair game.

Incredible! Smells mysterious, nocturnal, intimate, and confident. Some are complaining about the high price but I think it's worth $200 all day long. It's discontinued so when wearing this you will absolutely know that nobody else will smell like you. I would pay that again if I needed another bottle. This is such a well blended and smooth composition.
I think this would be a perfect scent for more formal romantic settings, a nice dinner outside under the autumn night would fit perfectly.
If you are hesitating to purchase - just buy it already! They aren't making any more of it :)

Mjchaelj

If only I knew back in 2016 when I bought a bottle for $25, that the price would skyrocket. I would’ve bought more. Anyways. It’s really nice. Soft powdery almond for the cold weather.

For those of you who live in Indonesia and really want to smell this perfume, you should try HMNS Essence Of the Sun.

Thank me later.

Not exactly the same, but a better fragrance to get if you want a scent that’s in the same ballpark would be Mercedes Benz Club Black. The price point is stellar and it’s a better fragrance. I’d pick that up over Prada and Bvlgari. People need to remember MIP was an $18 fragrance for a reason. I paid $18 for it from Maxaroma in 2016 and thought it was a fair price. I liked MIP, but it just wasn’t anything special. Mercedes Benz on the other hand is definitely an improvement on that particular dna. Just my opinion

Muhammad Nabi

I don’t know why I love it, maybe because of the hype, the bottle, the scent.
Bought mine for £80, no regrets.

The price hike is Insane.. bought the EDT version of 125ml for $24 in 2013-14.
Love the bottle and more love the fragrance, But I think I won't pay the amount its been selling for these days.

-Amber + Leather combination
-Surprisingly doesn't come across as repulsive to someone who dislikes leather notes.
-Unfortunately, smells rather generic.
-Reminiscent of something from the Tom Ford Private Blend lineup.
-Not fbw. (-)

I blind bought it years ago when it was still available for chips; such a quality fragrance in a beautiful, amazing bottle, and it came so cheap. Truly a wonder: the leathery tea gives the burnt accord reminding to Bvlgari Black, and then comes the powdery drydown reminiscent to Dior Homme. I have both the Edp and Edt versions, the former more opulent and substantial, even enough for winter perhaps, and the latter brighter, perfect even for summer evenings. It shines all the time.

mr_________a

Marcx

I love this. It’s soft and cuddly. Beautiful bottle. Bought it when I was just getting into fragrance 8 years ago. It’s bright but a little smoky... more like a fog machine vibe. It’s playful and young a little romantic but sturdy. This was my signature scent but it got discontinued so I had to stop using what’s left of my last bottle. This gives me a grad student getting ready to face the real word. Optimistic. 8.5/10

yourthemanowdog

Midnight in Paris can cost thousands of dollars for a small very small sample of juice.
van cleef pores this juice from his bare hands into a bottle and then money flows . it is the scent of life itself and worth dying for a small sample some say . it should be in the thousands instead of hundreds for a small sample on ebay. be prepared to pay top dollar when coty reformulates it brings it back

toompje88

Everything about this fragrance I love, except that it is discontinued, so I'm saving it for special occasions. Especially, the amber note, the overal sweet scent bubble and the "warmth" of the scent. Unfortunately I didn't buy a bottle when it was still cheaply priced, but it is blind buy worthy when you find this for a decent price. For me, it's a 10/10 for the right type of situations (close encounters/date night).

Fashion_Munir

It's funny (and sad) to see all these people who are trying hard to convince themselves that this fragrance is so great because they paid a high price for it today ; and people who sold back their fragrance at some point (because in fact this fragrance is just average and they saw they could make a good profit when the price increased) almost complaining now that they sold too early now that the ask price is even higher now.

I blind bought this obviously and paid 75 euros for the 75ml eau de parfum version and indeed this fragrance has nothing particular.

If it's so great then why did van cleef chose to discontinue it in the first place. Let's return to reality now

bogdangeorgedicu

For people missing this gem: Armani Attitude Extreme, after 30 mins from applying, smells almost exactly like Midnight in Paris. Unfortunately, Attitude Extreme is discontinued as well.

wbissar

this is not a frag for daily use. this is s piece of art. just like a very expensive painting that u hang on the wall. so much depth, so much sensuality.

i get it when people talk about the resemblence to bulgari black, but no!! this is something else. soft and calm, bulgari black is very harsh compared to this.

strictly winter use, maybe even strictly winter nights. now that it's discontinued i'm spraying mine very sparingly and saving it for special occassions...

FragLoverMNE

I dont know who was talking about rubber smell of leather in this fragrance, but thats not true. I bought it today in a small parfume shop here in Montenego.. 30ml bottle 40€ 😂. You can blind buy it easily.. Its a very sophisticated parfume and imo this is more suitable for a guy who wants to make his girl feel very warm and seduced. ;) My nose smells citrus, tonka, leather and incense. But overal its YSL La Nuit de L’homme in a leather jacket.

Did i just pay 125 dollars for a 75ml bottle of this in 2020 because it's hard as hell to find one original and sealed? yes i did.

Do i regret it? no. Masterpiece. This smells like magic. It's subtle, it's mysterious.

Rob321x

this fragrance needs to make a comeback. i love this fragrance.

Brenkin

This is a very robust composition, with a lot of depth, development, and notes. That being said...

The opening has a strong leather that has a bit of a rubber touch due to the benzoin. The incense it not very strong, it only adds a slightly rounded, smoky edge to the leather and rubber.

As it dries down, the rubber begins to fade as the tea, amber, and tonka bean take centre stage. Perfectly blended all throughout.

This is a seductive, sexy fragrance. However, it takes a certain someone to pull this off. Definitely unisex. NOT recommended as a blind buy.

pasha

Smells EXTREMELY similar to Body Kouros by YSL. Benzoin and incense. That one has a wood base, while this one builds on a very subdued leather note. That's the difference.

Both are extremely soft and... 'cloudy'. Nothing sharp, savory, or biting.

Practically the same potion, even in longevity. Pretty excellent in both cases. I understand this one is now discontinued. Go for the YSL creation; you'll be more than satisfied.

eaudemale

Inoffensive leather at the top, a little sweet, a little powdery and a slight petrol note. It smells like someone is carrying a cake inside a sweaty bus. Every time I used it, it made me feel dirty, like I haven't showered because it smells like sweat. I will never understand the fuzz over this one.
It's close to Bvlgari Black but not such a masterpiece and not even close to Dior Homme. No wonder it got discontinued.

marcel2782

MIP enters the stage bragging it's a super androgen aroma with high quality makeup style - "done that", says Dior Homme Intense. Yeah, but I bring a more tamed smell on that style - "been there", responds Dior Ambre Nuit. Yeah, but who has a natural feeling counterbalance midst it? - "really? Oh well.." says FM Carnal Flower. "Mmrrmrm...arrogant prick" is also heard in a mumble of Seville a l'Aube L'Artisan Parfumeur. Damn you all, I'm still different, that must count for something! yells MIP - ......a great pause, suddenly broken by somebody coughing to break the ice, until Feve Deliciéuse asks loudly from the back - "enough talking about makeup smelling, that's been beaten to death, main point is: are we ever gonna talk about your weak performance?" - uncomfortable silence.

JSpines

I just bought a bottle of this cologne while away on a trip. I'd read the mostly positive reviews and wanted to try it. I bought the 75 ml. bottle for 61 dollars at the duty free shop at the airport. I can say that I was not disappointed. I find it to be a nice, sophisticated, classy scent. It's smooth and easy to wear. Non-intrusive and pleasant. It's warm and cozy. I wore it for the first time last evening and when my sister-in-law hugged me goodbye she said, "oh you smell good." - 'Nuff said!

BrewCityScent

Guys I'm being completely honest here when I tell you this. Midnight in Paris smell good but it's not something to break your neck over. I'd never pay the price tag this is going for nowadays. I had two of these bottles when it was $25 and broke both at different times. I cared less both times because at the end of the day this is just another powdery sweet smelling frag that honestly would piss my nose off at times. I had the opportunity to grab a load of these bottles when I knew they were being discontinued and thought so less of the scent that I deemed it would just sit in the back of my closet. Boy was I wrong though lol. But seriously, good scent? Yes. Memorable and worth the current price? Hell F------ NO!!

I live in a tropical country and I brought this about 5 years ago bought 3 bottles for $50. By that time this was a bargain. I blind bought them.

Never really liked the smell that much, so my opened bottle is almost full and I have 2 more pristine unopened boxes.

Looking to trade or negotiate each of them.

Don't get me wrong the smell is lovely just too thick for the Costa Rican weather.

Emma0714

Midnight in Paris is a constellation of a new leather handbag, menthol cigarettes, almond macaroons and a bitter cup of green tea served with lemon. A picture of two lovers still at the table whilst the café is closing up and the candles has long since burned out. A walk home on cobblestones lit by the full moon. Laughs that turns to smoke in the cold winter night.

Le sigh. Vive le romance.

There is no greater shame than this being discontinued.

Schnappo90

I wore this a lot when it was released. I stopped wearing it when I realised I only had 1-2 wearings remaining in my bottle. For some reason I never got a new bottle. Anyway, I've just dug out my bottle after about 5 years; over time I built this up in my head as one of the best fragrances that I'd ever smelt....after all, it's the first fragrance I'd worn that received a completely unsolicited compliment from a total stranger that I was sat next to on a train.

Smelling it again today, I have to say, nostalgia played a huge part in why I thought it was so great. To be totally honest, it's a lovely scent, but it's not as great as I remember it to be. I'd happily own a full bottle of this at the price I paid at the time which was around £20 but given that the prices have tripled, this is absolutely not worth it anymore - not even close. And that brings me on to my next point:

I'm currently wearing MiP on one arm and Prada Luna Rossa Black on the other; of course they aren't the same, but smelling them side-by-side, it's like Prada took the MiP DNA and added a touch of amber and pepper to it to give it more depth. Give Prada LR Black a go - you might find that it satisfies your MiP craving.

I'm glad that I didn't shell out ridiculous money for a bottle of MiP based on my memories, because it wouldn't have delivered.

Boughetto

You are driving your ferrari a bit fast down the champs-elysees, top down, under a vanilla sky, when you skid out and smash sideways into a small confectionery. You step out of the wreckage, tires gently toasted. Weird, how well fresh baked rubber and almond croissants go together!

But, something is slightly off. A glitch in the matrix. It almost seems scripted. You then wake up, and realize it wasn't real, but one of those nice dreams that seem real until you wake up. There's a synthetic subcontext that turns this dreamy elixir into something that's more of a fleeting fragrance flirtation.

A shame, because this could've been something amazing. A nice bridge between designer and niche. And yes, the bottle is stunning.

Falco4758

Oh the nostalgia. When I first got into the fragrance game this had just came out and it was what was everyone was talking about. I remember I got it and fell in love so I bought 2 4 oz edp bottles for 25$ each, the market was flooded with this juice. One broke immediately and spilled all over my tile floor. I stopped wearing it for a few years and went to get another bottle as I only have 1/&8th left and I see it’s discontinued and insanely priced . Man I wish I had stocked up.the edp shines for me but both are stunning and similar. The scent -You walk into a car tire shop, there are vanilla pods dangling about , a beautiful incense burning in the back, a few men smoking Cuban cigars in the back room, the smoke leaking under the door, and the most luxurious baby powder dances in the air. Just amazing. One of my favorites, just got a surprise gift of a bottle and that’s what brought me back to it !

MoonScent

This is a metrosexual man in a bottle. The leather and incense that smells rubber-like, gives it the masculine and the modernistic vibe. The rest of the composition gives it the sensual, playful and comforting vibe.

For the Femme Fatal, this should be the greatest weapon in your fragrance arsenal.

Nowadays I use this scent most as a bed fragrance. Great bottle, great name and great scent.

BigDickson

A pleasant sweet powder with the most gorgeous bottle design. Overhyped, but worth trying.

guerlainfreak

It is difficult to evaluate this frag without thinking of its obvious predecessor, the magnificent Shalimar by Guerlain.
MIP is Shalimar without the skank, or Shalimar lite if you would prefer. A warm, cozy, comforting scent of vanilla and leather. Nice? Sure. Groundbreaking/Masterpiece? Hardly. Shalimar claimed that crown last century.
To summarize, if you want the real deal, go to Shalimar. If Shalimar is too disruptive for you, Bvlgari Black is a very close second option, but you may have to deal with the rubbery combo of leather and tea from Bvlgari.
Do not spend a fortune on MIP. It’s nice but you have way more affordable choices out there. Hype is just that. Hype.
Smell great, my friends.

smellymo

Very nice, subtle cologne. Smells like an enchanted forest with hints of lemon. I highly recommend for those who want a more intimate and natural smelling fragrance.

Finisterle

Try putting Midnight in Paris edt on at night when you are really tired and close to going to bed.

All of a sudden... the bland fragrance you dismissed earlier in the day...turns into soft, mild, soothing, dulcet magic.

Not masculine, not feminine, not unisex - just you, whoever you are, drifting through the realm of a calm night.

moustafa.elboghdady

Powdery, feminine (make-up bag like smell), slight incense. Don't overspray because it project heavily in first 1-2h.

Konga5000: no worries, I'll upthumb your great review whenever necessary. Thanks for the laughs!

Konga5000

My bad reviews for this nonsense keeps getting me thumbed out- leaving me to continue on about this dry, dull, boring cologne that has been thoughtfully discontinued.
Ahem.

First, let me say, the bottle is LOVELY ! Really dazzling on the outside, but what's inside smells like a cardboard shoe box that used to store sample sized jugs of Johnson's Baby Powder . This is a poorly crafted "drug store classic" has a following of people that probably think Olive Garden serves "great Italian food". These are , as Archie Bunker says "the kind of people that keep fruit in the house even when nobody's sick." I have a feeling that 98% of the good reviews are due to that "now that it's discontinued-- I have to worship it" act of 1973. Blind faith ; Olive Garden Style !

Only a moron, would pay $125.00 for a vintage bottle of this vague, lifeless, humorless fragrance (that comes in a nice bottle). Lastly, are there not 200 other perfumes that smell like faint powder and patent leather available on the market right now?! Ever here of a place called T.J. Maxx?
If you thumb me down- I'll only come back. Like a fungus.

evapap181977

scentitar

A excellent Designer release and you likely know all about, so let me suggest some great alternatives.

Reflection man by amouage - classy soft, easy to love, but very pricey

Muschino uomo - Best bang for your buck, soft, a little powdery

Moonmilk by stora skuggan - interesting, complex, sandalwood heavy, pricey, and the best alternative in my opinion.

Chears friends, I don't think this fragrance is worth discontinued prices.

burkat

This fragrance is very androgynous in my opinion. It’s soft, sweet and powdery, and leans a bit on the feminine side. It’s not one I reach for often, but it has its place in my wardrobe. This was a very affordable fragrance when it was still in production, but at current asking prices on the secondary market, I can’t recommend searching it out.

ad_scott

The opening is fresh: lemon, then bergamot and rosemary, then it adjusts to a mild, fruity green tea. 5 minutes later things start to get interesting as the opening notes synthesize with a kind of muted smoky-rubbery note resulting in a harmonious mid. When the dry down initiates, the brightness fades and the darker tones dominate (very well done as it feels like being in Paris around midnight at a bar with a glass of Bourbon.) There's a delicate boozy element at play. Moments later, I experience only the leather, tonka and incense notes which somehow forge a faint vanilla/almond/coffee aroma. I admire this scent, it is smooth, creamy, delicious and comforting. It's a fragrance for the autumn and winter. Sillage and longevity are full-bodied yet mild - stays close to the skin. Bottle is also very nice. All in all a very good fragrance.

sebsan

Such a unique fragrance...

Honestly this is a pure gem in the male fragrance world. You deffinetly have to be open minded and willing to embrace the unique and different in order to feel OK wearing this.

Midnight in Paris is the perfect name for this fragrance. It embodies luxe and simplicity at the same time. It is kinda powdery but not in a cheap boring way. The suede almond and incense are most dominant to my nose. Lasting power is very good:5-6 hours. The bottle is very unqie especially the biggest 125 ml one. It looks like something you bought from a store of Cartier.

Actually for the experience you get with this one it's not that expensive. I got a 125ml bottle for 90$ in my country.

NathanBradleyF

This was a wonderful fragrance. Just beautiful. Kinda like Bois D'Argent but more complex. I wish I had stocked up when Amazon sold it for under $20. A shame they discontinued it. One of the prettiest bottles I've ever seen. I keep thinking they will bring it back some day.

Eaatwood

@aus365 Im sure I was able to get MIP for $18 because Jeremy Fragrance hype hadn't went into effect yet. There's multiple fragrances out there that smell just like this and better. The fragrance was discontinued for a reason and the stock that was left was priced accordingly. Decent fragrance but definitely doesn't warrant the hype and the current price tag.

Aus365

@Eaatwood

You paid 18 dollars because it was marketed terribly and the fragrance flew under the radar for years. It was a steal at that price!

The fragrance itself was to compliment the launch of a sixty thousand dollar timepiece, and it seems Van Cleef & Arpels were more interested in selling the watches than marketing this gorgeous cologne properly.

Eaatwood

It's all hype. Some women will compliment you while wearing this frag because it's more of a feminine scent for the first hr or 2 (powder). After that it's just weird but in a good way. It's like sniffing gasoline on your hand, it doesn't smell nice but you keep sniffing it for some reason. Except it's a weird rubbery smell. I paid $18 for my bottle and it was priced right imo, I wouldn't pay more than $25 for it.

Jschiesl

You couldn't pay me for my bottle of midnight in Paris. This scent for some reason directly triggers flashbacks of when I last wore it.

I was joining the military in March (yeah I was young and didn't know the seasons of scent) of 2017, and went through a few days of processing to be sent out to training. I wore this fragrance for those few days. It was the last time for 4 months I wore any fragrance. When I got out of training I went home to collect all my cologne and this one brought me back to the afternoon in the MEPS center and the evening in the hotel. It still does even to this day! It makes me feel deja Vu EVERYTIME.

I refuse to wear it for a few reasons:

1- It's very expensive now (I bought it for $19.99).
2- The flashbacks are so intense it's actually quite frightening. Wearing it only makes my mind go directly to March of 2017.
3-I prefer to keep it as a memory.

✓ beautiful bottle
✓ beautiful blended fragrance
✓ beautiful scent (if you can smell it)
X ruined by Soft to Zero Projection = no compliments unless someone sniff your skin.

I ♥ the way ow Midnight in Paris smell. Its a gentle smooth fragrance that give off a romantic vibe. I think this can be a killer as a Date Scent. However, I'm getting horrible projection but decent longevity. It project "softly" for 15min, the collapsed completely into a skin scent. It last surprisingly long (5hrs) but only as a Skin Scent.

I adore Midnight in Paris, vbut I can't bring myself to Pay a Premium for a :Beautiful Skin Scent that does not project. MiP is a great value if you can find it around $20. However, I wouldn't pay a premium or $40 for it, as I can get better performance from other fragrance. No disrespect for the fragrance. I can understand the hype when it was only $15 on TJ-MAX, but not when its price over $60 currently on eBay.

olaniyirex

Even if this is the worst fragrance in history, I'll still have it because of the bottle design. It's actually a very decent fragrance that both men and women can enjoy. I can detect leather in a high dose with Almond and Tonka. There is also benzoin, incense Amber, and some Tea notes. It's discontinued and prices are skyrocketing so avoid and buy the cheaper alternative Bvlgari black or the new Prada Luna Rossa Black. I don't blend fragrances much, but Midnight in Paris blends quite well with many leather and iris based fragrances. By the way, the bottle represents Paris skyline at night, gorgeous stuff.

Ryanmmas26

This is a very interesting scent to say the least !!! And a very warranted “Like” but with that said I’m still not sure whether I’m going to purchase another decent of this.

MIP opens up very feminine with a blast of powder, leather and tea. At first I thought this was going to be too feminine but in the mid the powder subsided and the tea, leather and styrax come forth making this more aromatic, masculine and fresh. Then once this dries down your left with tea, leather and a smooth Tonka Bean smell that’s very warm, inviting and relaxing. If you like a scent that has a lot of development you will love this !

Now the reason that I’m unsure I will purchase this is that I already have scents that have the same vibe but do it better. Scents that come to mind are Prada Lunna Rossa Sport, Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin and even Cuba Gold. Regardless though, I will for sure enjoy my use of the remaining 10 ML decant I have left of this !

Performance on this great as it lasts 6-8 hours but only has soft projection but leaves a very noticeable scent trail which makes it perfect for work, relaxing at home or even dates if your comfortable with this being slightly feminine.

Overall rating —-7.5 our of 10 ! Very unique and interesting scent but when I want a scent that’s unique yet comforting I think I’ll stick with Au Masculin

Coffee_Girl

It doesn't smell like powder to me, but boy oh boy this smells exactly like what the bottle looks like. This smell is that moment when you are cuddling under a bright sky, in a convertible...with your bf/gf...and you're both awake after a night of passion. There are some words exchanged, perhaps empty promises made, you can feel a bit of romance blossoming...new love...a new dawn approaching. You hold hands as the stars disappear and the sun edges ever closer to the horizon, you don't know if you will ever see this person again...but at this moment somehow it doesn't seem to matter. All there is is just a tiny moment in time --lost forever.

Words can't describe the beauty of this scent. It is magic.

scentitar

A great fragrance before it cost above 80 dollars and designer prices.

You get sweetness, powderness, lavender, patchouli, tonka and more that is very well blended and nothing stands out, like any good complex style of fragrance.

I do not know why there is a debate overy the powdery feel or notes here, this does have some powder, but it is well blended and not prominent in the fragrance. Those who dislike powdery fragrances should not be bothered by this one.

Overall this is a improved and more full prada amber pour homme and I wish it was more popular before being discontinued.

For me this is a 40 to 80 dollar fragrance and not worth niche prices.

About the only fragrance I have found that has good similarities with this is a fragrance called Moonmilk

JPP001

This was a blind buy based off of reviews, all I can say is it does NOT work for me. It dries down into an overly powdery mess on my skin, almost nauseating. It may work for some people but not at all for me.

I know due to body chemistry that certain scents smell differently on different people, I will concede that I am the odd man out wearing this perfume. It just doesn't work for me

Eaatwood

2 years ago I bought a bottle of this for $18 from Maxaroma. Hype will ruin anything. O.a.n, English laundry- Arrogant reminds me of this without the addictive Rubber smell in MIP.Regardless, it's very close and is a brilliant smell that projects and last at minimum 8hrs.

kylenicholson94

It angers & deeply upsets me that this is no longer available (disregarding the ridiculous prices of the bottles still in circulation).
How can such a beautiful fragrance be discontinued, yet so many bland and easily forgettable scents still live on.
We need to start a petition for this gem!

Shugenja

I love it. If it went back into production, I would be a loyal customer. IF.

tani.nikshici

The bottle design is also a masterpiece , Midnight in Paris smells fantastic, almost out of this world on paper. Fresh, warm, rich, incredible! this is my nr 3 bottle , i only use this in winter time...it last 4ever on u

Sam_1998

If you are a fan of sweet powdery scents (Like me) you will definitely love This.
Perfectly blended high quality juice.
Perfect for cold nights. This is also one of those fragrances i use when i want to be realax cause it's really pleasing
And to be honest Midnight in paris Is the best looking bottle in my collection.

Eaatwood

Talk about hype...geesh. There's nothing at all special about this juice. It's literally just an ok fragrances. Jeremy has a lot of influence and this fragrance proved it. I bought a 75ml Edp bottle from Maxoroma in 2016 for $18 and that same bottle is going for $150 - 250 atm. Crazy.....!!

sharpLess

Not worth the price scent wise, but a good investment and neat bottle. The scent is unremarkable warm and incensey leather that sits close to the skin and sorta powdery, and don't get much more than a few hours of projection on my skin, it was marketed at $35 and don't believe it's worth 6x that price fragrance wise. But you might make a small profit sitting on it for a year. I might be biased because I finished off my bottle mostly selling decants of it, but it never floored me and took 4 years to use it all up. Beware, Van Cleef will likely release a reformulation because the secondary market shows signs of high interest. 5/10.

Puck

This isn't a bad scent, but I'm not particularly fond of powdery fragrances.

The initial spray smells of powdery incense and some smokiness to it. It settles into a faint leather, but powder still resonates. It lasts quite awhile as well.

Overall, not a bad pick if you enjoy incense and powder. The comments I'd gotten from this was that it is too feminine for a man and I'd agree. 4/10 for me! Cheers!

GustaveTheNose

I recently acquired a bottle made in 2010 (the year the perfume was released) and I am re-reviewing it herein.

It smalls of very soft leather and tonka with sweet notes from amber and marzipan. According to the notes, you might expect some green herbal freshness from rosemary or tea leaves, but that's not the case.

This is a "cosy" perfume for men, sits close to the skin and has soft projection.

AndiJ10

Powdery-sweet vanilla-leathery fragrance, that’s how i can summarize this fragrance. A good fragrance with decent performance to like 5 hours ! Don’t know why it reminds me of Lanvin- Arpege pour homme which i have ! Overall nice, pleasant smell !

Mike Bromeo

Dislike!
Theres nothing much going on here. It smells like a diaper filled with expensive baby powder. Im not impressed, but I will say that I did receive compliments, so to surrounding noses this seems to strike them. Me, on the other hand, not too fond. But I do like the fact that this is disc. and I own some. People are head over heals for this, when it should be called Baby Powder by Gucci pour homme. Enjoy if this is your thing but for me I lay neutral. Not bad, but not great either. No huff and fluff, Just Facts Bro!

richmilton

MIP seems to be magic for many people. It's smooth as butter, interesting, and very romantic. The leather and powder are blended very nicely. On the right person I could see this as pure class. Ideally for cold winter nights. But sadly, this is not my style. I don't dislike it by any means. It just does not go with my personality and character.

The price this is going for on ebay is crazy at $150-$250 and more. I guess it's some kind of addictive scent for some people. Very much a unisex fragrance. I planned to give it to my wife but she just refuses to wear a man's cologne. So I'm going to sell or trade my 2.5oz bottle of Midnight in Paris EDT (85-90% full).

Open to offers. I hear Bulgari Black is similar to MIP, but more masculine, even though that's a unisex fragrance. It's also discontinued so it'd be a fair trade. I have a large collection and my tastes vary, but mainly I prefer masculine fragrances.

malcolmnks

you probably want to ask inter parfums since they're the one producing it.

carlosalbertoandradecruz

It's really difficult to understand why Van Cleef & Arpels does not relaunches this fragrance.

Dear VC&A CEO,
Are you a businessman?
If Yes to the previous question... What are you waiting for?

FinnishCologneguy

@cvaile I hope VC&A reads your comment and brings this masterpiece back. And if/when they decide to relaunch MiP, they better not change a thing about it.
Everything from the scent, formulation, price to presentation should remain the same as they used to be before the fragrance got discontinued.

Tazahr

Midnight in Paris is a creamy almond benzoin/ vanilla perfume with touch of soft leather.

It is generally nice, slightly feminine but to me it smells dated and the huge alcohol blast in the opening is off-putting.

istvan.buda.779

Cvaile. I bought back up bottles when I started my fragrance journey and I thought I will use them up but, then I started buying more fragrances and now I got 4 back up bottles I will never use up. Put them on eBay for pretty much the same price I bought it full price and it is still cheaper then most people selling it for

cvaile

I'd seriously like to know the rationale for discontinuation.

You can find bottles of other discontinued scents 6-7 years after for almost nothing (or at least not for much more than they were sold for prior to DC), which makes the lack of interest in them an easily understandable explanation for the decision to stop making it.

But when stocks are depleted within 4-5 months of confirmation of discontinuation, perhaps it's time to re-visit that decision.

Generally speaking, so many people would never stock up on a newly discontinued scent because so few are interested in wearing it.

Looking at the prices on eBay, I think the large interest in this scent is more than proven.

Bring... it... back... please.

Crowleysviles

the opening is whatever, good quality but kind of feminine , love the drydown because the tea note comes through smelling similar to 1995 Bvlgari Pour Homme and t’s flankers

Aus365

I adore this fragrance! It's totally unisex and simply perfect for year-round use, though most suited for fall/winter. Not only is it a beautiful blend of amber, floral, tea, and tonka bean notes, it surprisingly has one of the best leather notes you can hope to find.

The bottle design is also a masterpiece! Surely one of the best for a fragrance. Sadly MiP has been discontinued, but for me after 4 years of use it remains a great gem amongst many overhyped colognes.

I remember when a bottle of stuff (EDT or EDP) used to cost almost nothing. Now you see 'em for upwards of 300 dollars. That's really hysterical.

The reason why it's hysterical is because the fragrance really ain't all that. It's... nice. Pleasant. Cozy. Warm. But there's not much else you can say about it. And for the money a bottle is going for now you can snag, say, Tom Ford's "Tuscan Leather" and really get a bang for your buck. Listen, Midnight in Paris is cute but nowhere near worth a couple of hundred bucks a pop! It simply isn't that high a quality a fragrance. IMO the best thing about MIP is the exquisite bottle.

If you want the same experience (meaning more or less in the same olfactory family) for a reasonable price, check out Perry Ellis' "M"- one of the best cheapie-but-goodies out there. And of course Bvlgury Black, which is an awesome quality scent and also reasonably priced.

NewbieNerd

In terms of the smell itself from my experience this is one of the most gorgeous, posh, sexy and romantic scent my nose could imagine.. I agree that it could be unisex, but it's not overly feminine like some people say, even with the EDT..
Longevity is pretty good around 8h.
Projection is moderate, yet noticeable like it should be.
I'm VERY lucky to have a 2010 40ml bottle which I love.
Very well done and balanced fragrance created by the god of modern parfumery!!
Thank you again, Olivier Polge

Fraggie2100

This is a skin scent ! do not buy into the hype.

Perfect fall fragrance. Combination of sweet leather and powdery vibe is irresistible. Sadly discontinued. Although it fetches higher price even on discounted websites, it might be worth investing in this one. Perfect for casual evenings (cooler weather) and night-outs.

I somehow managed to get bottle of midnight in paris, I like it but I am not blown away by this. To my nose I can smell alot of dry leaf of tobacco in top and heart notes. bottom notes are much better. More smooth and wearable. Longevity and sillage is pretty good. This gaves me straight 3 hours of good projection and then it gets close to body and 10-12 hours of longevity

FrozenIcewind

One of my favourite winter scents. Very warm and addictive. Sweet, powdery bubble gum managing to be so mature and elegant at the same time. I'm lucky enough to have 75 and 125 ml full bottles stocked. Can't figure out why they discontinued it. Thousands of people left in mourn.

You don't find this, it finds you. Enjoy what stock is left. Fine life.

Good things come to an end and leave memories to cherish for... Wearing MIP is like that and the reason I say is for the dry down. Simply beautiful. I bought my first bottle in 2010 from Paris, bought again when ran out. I have two at the moment - edt and edp, one each. It never disappoints. I rock it when days are shorter... when a light woolen makes it cozy... when it feels good to wander around enjoying the silhoutte over aging sun. My experience with MIP:

1. Uniqueness - 3/5
2. Projection - 3/5 : it's moderate
3. Sillage - 3/5
4. Longevity - 4/5 : a good 8 hours on me

Love makes life live... enjoy.

Kostas54

It is not discontinued. You can find it pretty easily here in Greece and very cheap indeed!!!

eholley485

i hate they discontinued this fine juice.

slimshade93

Nice, soft powdery scent. Very Good performance, for me does not fit to casual style.

krestan

I hadn't heard of, never mind even thought of trying this fragrance. But my boss gave me a sample of it (as we're all fragrance nerds at work) and it's seriously become my favourite fragrance. Unfortunately, I found out that it's discontinued. But if anyone wants to trade or exchange or sell it to me, email me. [email protected]

Warm n Cozy.

EarlofGrims

Got it but cannot enjoy it,too feminine. The scent is of great quality products made, and the BOTTLE!Glory!Magnificent! It was really what i expected by a high quality house like VC&A,the scent is something else, powdery, rubbery, vanillic and elegant,we just don't share the spark of love.

carlosalbertoandradecruz

I bought this frag (EDP) once two years ago and I did liked it.
I am tired of trying to get another bottle in my usual suppliers (I never buy anything in Ebay or Amazon).
Whenever they stock this fragrance (always in small quantities), the stock last for a couple of hours only.
We may conclude 2 things: Either this frag is really fantastic and the entire world is buying it, or Van Cleef & Arpels are playing with the consumers and trying to grow the hype with this frag. To my best knowledge it is not discontinued.
As far as I am concerned, I already gave up. It's a lot easier to buy Bvlgary Black. It's a fantastic unisex fragrance, always in stock, and really similar to Midnight in Paris... and cheaper as well.
The two frags are really similar.

WeAreTheCosmos

It's definitely a cooler night, Fall, or winter scent. However, I've worn it a few times now on unseasonably cool days, and it's absolutely fantastic. When I first tried it, in the middle of the summer heat, I wasn't very impressed, but my opinion has completely changed, and I've picked up backup bottles.

Certainly not a very masculine scent, but very pleasant. I've had several friends and family literally cuddle my arms with their faces because they like this so much.

I wouldn't call the opening very harsh, nor is the 'rubber' smell very prominent at all. Longevity is very good. I'm able to smell this on me well beyond my work day.

nose1000

Can't understand the hype and love for this fragrance. At first blast all I get is faint burnt rubber, no baby powder no other notes can be detected. After 30min I have to dig my nose into my skin to register any scent. Discontinued? Good riddance I say! And those who have it are jacking up the price? So disappointed I sold it off the same day I received it.

puketui41

The worst perfume I have ever tried.Imagine a sickly sweet, synthetic vanilla abomination that has been sprayed into a newly pressed plastic rubbish bin and left to stew. That is MIP.

cosmicfred

Weak and no personnality.
How can this be a "MUST HAVE"!
Useless!

dzb

I used to think I could never rock this in public because of the leather and harsh opening. But I'm telling you... it's all in your mind.

This stuff is super pleasant, and even more so when it dries down. I'd go so far as to say that it's as good as any popular "date fragrance"

If you don't have it, don't pay the crazy price... it's not a must have... if you must, just buy Bvlgari Black; it's very similar.

I_Like_Sand

It's a very good scent and it totally outperforms its price tag. It is very deep and rich and it lasts for a long time. The leather and incense are quite pronounced along with a deep and resinous undertone. To some people it may be an acquired taste but it is generally very well received. And no it is not discontinued!

chardee_macdennis

Damnit, I should've bought 10 bottles of this last year.

Bigsly

There's a "clone" type scent of this one (AFAICT) called Sensation Midnight by Nu Parfums (not in the Fragrantica database but listed at Parfumo). It is undeniably "chemical," IMO, but if I spray it lower than usual, an inch or so above the navel, I think I prefer this one to MiP! A less than $4 for 100 ml I decided to take a chance on it, and I'm certainly glad I did.

nostalgia30

This is great but a little too feminine for me it's a unisex scent imo. For what it does scent wise it does the best if you enjoy powdery vanilla scents with great projection and lasting power.
I'd give this a 9/10 it's just not for me but I wish it was because it smells really good.

Edit' totally changed my mind on this. I was going to sell it because it's a 4.2 and 99% full however before listing it on eBay I gave it one last try. It's so much better then I remember the performace is incredible and it's far from linear it changes over time. I think the problem was I sprayed on my clothes before this time was just my wrist. This is a keeper

LordCharfield

I bought mine for around £20 three years ago, or so. Hype kills the enjoyment of scents. I try and keep my favourites out of hype territory, as finding a treasure and not having to pay the Earth for it is part of the enjoyment of this hobby. My favourite scents come from Guerlain (not really hypable due to it's reputation for high quality perfumes), so I get great, quality scents, pay a fair price, no hype, job done. MIP is a great scent, but the hypers have ruined it for lots of true fragrance lovers because the dealers move in. Some people have several bottles in stock on eBay etc.
Do yourselves a favour. If you love scents, give a true and fair review, but stay off the hype train, or you're just doubling/quadrupling the cost of your favourite sauce! Contrary to the hype merchants on eBay, this isn't rare, or scarce, there are plenty of bottles around. They're just in the hands of greedy people!
If you vote with your wallets on eBay, it will help the prices to come back down to sensible and realistic levels.

Oronde

To my nose this is a tad bit more powdery & creamy than I would prefer. The Tonka bean & benzoin upstage the leather & incense; it would be perfect if these roles were reversed.

Julien 7

Very powdery fragrance, better to wear at night, but nothing great in my opinion. Actually I like the bottle design more than the fragrance itself.

I have a full bottle if you are interested contact me.

Hintsweetscents

I am reviewing the EDT version of MiP.

This is a difficult fragrance to describe, or at least in my opinion, but I'll try anyway. It has a very subtle smell of a sweet & creamy vanillary note, blended in with a lemonadey citrus-like smell and hint of florals, to create a fragrance of a sweet, citrus and floral mix.

It's good for night time wear if you're going to be out with someone for a special occasion and want to smell unique but classy, and a little mysterious at the same time. It can also be worn during the day as well.

Love the bottle design, it is luxurious and charming. As for longevity, you get 4-6hrs, with low sillage and a skin-close projection.

Carbin14

The botttle is beautiful, the fragrance is ugly. I have owned, gave it away, owned it, gave away for the second and final time. This fragrance smells as rubbery aND powdery as all the balloons I see on these reviews for this cologne. Cheap and not worth buying unless you like the bottle design.

Nawal.Ansari

This bottle is a piece of art!

The bottle yes! The scent itself, I have mixed feelings.
Midnight in paris is often compared to Dior Homme. It does have a few similarities with the latter in the drydown. They are different though.

The opening is dominated by Rosemary and bergamot. I get a lot of tonka, lily and almonds in the drydown. I would consider this a colder weather date / formal fragrance. It has soft projection. Unfortunately, it is too powdery for my liking. I would prefer this more on a girl.

Scent - 8/10
Performance - 7/10
Presentation - 20/10

Gorgeous bottle design! Worth buying just for the bottle in my opinion! The scent is beautiful too, but sample first.

ssaminn

Midnight in Paris is a grounded smoky leather scent with a balanced dose of sweet notes of amber/benzoin and fresh notes of bergamot and lily. It really reminds me of the dry down of the original Vince Camuto for women except that one contains the note of rum and the amber is more pronounced, and it projects a lot. Vince Camuto is the Heavy and sweetened version of this and lacks this lovely freshness and balance. MiP does have a small silage and intimate projection, and its longevity is moderate.

Midnight in Paris is a polite gentleman's smell when you're walking with him in fall at night. He doesn't have any sleazy agenda and he wouldn't try too hard to prove anything, he is just there, calm, unique, confident.

xeniadavarinou

I have owned the EdT for more than a year and I love it, I love it, I love it! I have found myself craving this perfume more than anything else I have ever owned, probably because it includes some of my all-time favourite notes: leather, tea, lilly of the valley and amber. Longevity is good but sillage is moderate. It has a very uplifting quality to it and an unexpected freshness.

It is a unisex fragrance and although on me it doesn't smell masculine, I would really like to see how it would smell on a man. For the record, all the compliments I have gotten for this perfume were from women (the last time such a thing happened to me was with Aqua di Gio that I was borrowing from my dad).

All in all it's a great fragrance, I strongly recommend it to people of all genders that want a perfume that will make them smile!

Brendan117

I have the edt version and find the longevity and sillage to be great on me, I get 10+ hrs on my skin. I even got complimented the other day on how strong and great it smelt after the 9 hr mark of applying and I was outdoors. This is a great fragrance in a great bottle. Sucks that it's been discontinued.

LydiaLiu

This is very an artistic perfume for male, it doesn't belong to the right-in-your-face masculine category, allow me say, but definitely a well designed divine work .

I wear it myself, though I like smelling it from my boyfriend better
: )

bigtide12

very soothing and relaxing fragrance. I receive compliments everytime I wear this out in the evenings. sad to hear it's been discontinued but happy I bought 3 additional bottles.

StellaDiverFlynn

I had a difficult time dealing with Midnight in Paris the very first time around. All I got on my skin was sticky, sugary almond-tonka syrup. The sweetness is quite high-pitched, thin, screechy, and lacks of substantial body to anchor it.

Subsequent wearings finally reveal the leather note of Midnight in Paris, probably because my nose starts to get used to the syrupy sweetness. The leather note here preceded by a brief fresh lavender note, exhibits a certain rubbery quality reminiscent of a brand new leather bag, while a milky undertone ties the leather, almond and benzoin. Unfortunately, the caramel-drenched tonka note here is still too cloying for my personal liking, and largely overshadows the supple leather.

The eventual dry down after about 5 hours is mainly caramel sauce poured over a resinous tonka. The sillage is moderate, and the longevity can be over 12 hours.

I quite like the realistic rubbery leather note, but I still can't get over the forceful almond-tonka syrup in Midnight in Paris. It might be an easier start point as a leather fragrance for gourmand lover, and it being discontinued may incite a blind buy, but I'd suggest testing before buying especially if you have low tolerance to almond-tonka syrupy sweetness.

Scent 12/10
Longevity, All night!

Fragrantguy

I came across this cologne by accident on here and have been wanting to try it out. Of course, it's no longer sold in stores and finally found a bottle on Ebay. This is a light projecting, powdery, very Paris like scent. It's like a floral powdery scent, yet, there is only lily of the valley listed in the notes. Smells very lovely, a spicy powdery sweet, but it doesn't project much. I can see why it's similar to Dior (another brand from Paris) because this seems like something they would sell. It definitely is a nice masculine sweet smell. The bottle is very pretty too, it stands out among my other cologne bottles. Just try it, I'm certain it will be a great blind buy for you as it was for me.

Iki Rizki

Yes, great scent .. fresh powdery and sweet .. good for close encounter.
For me 8/10 fragrance.

jimmyo1

@Kelkunny.. you can find on ebay from quite a few reputable sellers.

Anyway, I thought id wear this today as have had a 125ml in my collection for over a year and a half and only ever worn it 2 or 3 times.

I weren't really that into it but today ive found a new love for this, it is subtle, sweet and yes powdery, but so elegant at the same time.

Beautiful.... will wear this more now I get this vibe!

kelkunny

Where can I buy this fragrance? Can't find it on any online stores..

alexavel

GREAT COZY SCENT. VERY GOOD LONGEVITY (8+)IT SITS CLOSE TO THE SKIN AFTER THE 1 HOUR BUT I GET WHIFFS TROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE DAY. LOVELY

Smellinggoodislife

I'm on my second bottle of this currently. The first time I bought this a little over a year ago, I had mixed reactions upon first smell. I didn't think the Leather, fruit, Tonka bean & Almond mixed together well, My sensory seemed confused at first. After 3-4 times of wearing it, I realized how great it acutally is, and had to always keep it in stock. Truly a unique, amazing scent. As long as their is stock somewhere, this is in my 30/30 essential scents to always have.

This scent just keeps getting better the more I wear it.

jenhan

My first impression is, the bottle is pretty nice, it really has this romantic feel and have a some fantasy in it. Not cheap looking and will looks nice, but what about the smell.
So i tested it before i buy it, my first reaction is it ia the.mixture of leather, incense and vanilla. 3 kind of smell that i dont even think.will blend well, but surprisingly, it is really good. It have this rich element. And this smell kinda made me think, maybe this is what it feels walking down around along the luxurious alley , wearing a nice leather jacket, while enjoying your vanilla latte during a cold winter night under the beautiful milky way. Now what about the silage, my friend can snell it a far when i approach her, and ahe say it is quite atrong, and doea it laa long, yes it is, it stay for about 5 hours for me, and the edp stays longer. A fragrance perfect for some night out in a classy place or formal event. And the bottles arw fun to.play and stare at. One of the best perfume bottle i ever see.

mohsen.nasehipoor

I find it very similar to dior homme intense
Also a good fragrance suitable for nighty time ,also a good bottle design that suitable for decoration:)
Silage is moderate and longevity are longlasting

Lockon

Heads up if you like or love this scents buy it now or hold your peace.
It's discounted and the supply is vanishing.
I remember buying the 4.2 for $20...than that was cut off and now the 2.5oz bottles are 50 plus and raising.
Just letting you know.

albena.alexandrova

I bought this perfume for my friend, but he was not fascinated. but! I and my daughter are in love with this fragrance and we can get a big bottle, to use both :) it is wonderful! It is different, original. smells clean but not that cheap way

majid24

2 Sprays and OH MY MY I FELL IN LOVE WITH MIDNIGHT IN PARIS....
An Absolutely amazing perfume with very sexy and attractive bottle.
It Starts of with Leather, Rosemary, Tonka bean with a hint of incense plus citrus and in the Dry down you get Incense, Honey, Benzoin and some styrax. It does resembles a little like bvlgari black but only in dry down as both are very good and unique in top notes.
I got alot of compliments from ladies and they liked it so much that even though its a Pour homme, some of them said we are going to buy it and use it as our party-wear and i did not tell them that its discontinued now lol.

The Notes are very well blended and best to be worn in Winter nights. Very Luxurious and Creamy Fragrance. I am glad that i own two 125ml bottles.
8.5 out of 10 for me

Siv7Stars

This has such a cheesy name I had to have it for that alone. If anyone asks me what I'm wearing what a treat it will be to say "Midnight in Paris". The bottle is one of my favorites ever, chunky but small and cute, the night sky illustration is lovely, the silver top beautifully cut.
And the scent is a sweet spicy unisex, smoothly blended so I can't really pick anything much out individually. The leather is subtle and not overly tangy like some. It reminds me quite a lot of the first issue of Dior Addict. This was a great blind buy.

Lambda

Step 1: take a shower where you use Prada Luna Rossa Extreme Shower Gel
Step 2: apply Midnight in Paris on your wrists or arms

Result: magic in heavens.

mark49s

Leather, Tonka Bean and Incense certainly take center stage here in what is quite a nice fragrance. Good longevity too. The bottle is gorgeous as well.

cvaile

emt1986's review is spot on - if you have a nose for balsamics (vanilla/tonka, incense, resins) they are all in this one in great abundance. For those ready for the nose-indulging heft that they bring to the party, this is a very, very safe blind buy.

I understand the "baby powder" comments, but that's actually the balsamics layered with the sweetness of the amber and almond. The leather provides a bit of masculinity, but it won't be terribly noticable until the drydown.

If you know what you are getting into here, take the plunge - you can't lose at these prices. If you can find the EDP, buy three of them and send me one out of your sheer gratitude :)

Update - apparently the stock in this gem completely vanished. Usually a discontinued frag lingers for years on the bargain sites - but this one disappeared almost immediately. I'm guessing it had a huge following and they all bought every bottle they could once the discontinuation news was confirmed. Gee, it's ALMOST like it was a wildly popular scent and should never have been DC'd?

Knows2Nose

Do you like different? Well, here you go. This will definitely get you noticed. It got rather cloying, so i ended up giving it to my girlfriend (which she loves). The only issue is that its sort of disjointed, IMO the leather note is too strong and doesnt gel as well with its other notes. But thats my only critique, its still better and powerful than 95% of the colognes out there

3beidan

THIS IS BVLGARI BLACK BUT WITHOUT VANILLA AND LESS LEATHER AND MORE CITRUS + ALMOND
ITS KINDA OFF REMINDS ME OF BABY POWDER

END OF STORY :)

sproaty

Someone below mentioned it smells like Mr Sheen wood polish - that's my exact reaction EVERY time that I wear this. It disappears quickly enough but it's always recognisable. Glad I'm not the only one.

I like this fragrance, but I don't really find it anything special. It has a definite classy & elegant feel and is also unisex - my friend thought it was a woman's scent, though I find it doesn't lean too far in either direction. I think I need more wearings to make further judgements, but the scent has never really 'ticked' with me enough to make me want to actually wear it more.

FatFragHead

1/27/17 - This is a nice powdery scent with good projection and moderate longevity. It is a unisex scent with a nod toward the fem side, however, as a guy who loves fragrances, I wear what I want and hope you do too. Anyway, the bottle is also beautiful. This is a cheapie, but goodie IMO. It does not smell cheap and the presentation does not say anything less than a premium designer brand. I recommend for both genders for sure and find this more appropriate during a cooler day (not a day that will cause you to sweat). Well done fragrance

keatm49

If one doesn't like powdery scents one shouldn't buy a powdery cologne but for those who do like the powdery vibe for under 25$ this is a winner performance better than bdc edp and this is probably what Sheldon cooper smelt like when Amy complimented him on The Big Bang

AndreiCristian

Buy Bvlgari Black and stop cry. This parfume was not that good. The only diference between them is the rubber note , that is stronger in bvlgari.

Nice bottle tho , maybe the hype is around the bottle.

Ivpolo7

Just smells like a powder. Nearly smell. Doesn't project. If you don't need it don't buy it the only thing that is good is fency bottle. The most fency bottle I have seen.

mati1706

I've been wearing this for some years, and I know I'll miss this fragrance when it disappear from the market. Honestly, the best leather that I've ever bought. Inside, it's romantic, elegant and classy, just like what you see at the flacon in the outside. It start's with the marvellous blend of the keynotes, leather, tonka and incense, making MiP one balsamic masterpiece. After a while it settles into a linear creamy scent, that can lasts for a journèe. Performance is good, specially on cloathes. When I wear it, I feel like wanting to smell my wrist all the time.

Itsemesamb

You can describe this Fragrance in one word: Beautiful. The Smell is the definition of Elegance and the Bottle fits so perfect. However i would only wear this on special occasions.
