This is a budget friendly fragrance that smells super refined and expensive! The opening is a bit of a love-or-hate situation because you can really smell the spicy notes of the bay leaf and peppercorns, which not everyone appreciates in a vanilla based fragrance. The dry-down however is much softer and sweeter, and in this stage it really smells like a soapy, slightly woodsy vanilla. The performance is great, however I would suggest spraying it on the clothes since on the skin it can evaporate quickly. I think you can wear this fragrance both day and night, since it isn't cloying or aggressive. Overall, for the price point you get a really sophisticated fragrance that is a HUGE compliment-getter!

toff.tiozon

A green soft vanilla with hints of spicy-sweat (in the opening), leather, and aromatics. Sweet and cozy, unisex leaning feminine.

Jeswes89

Just bought this and this a no for me. Smells like a cheap perfume from Yves Rocher 😖. Had hopes of this one due to all the reviews here. Definitely not a safe blind buy. The bay leave at the opening is not good

Printeza7

Not sure if I like the opening but the dry-down is very good vanilla mixed with tiny bit of wood and spice. I have to try it again, but it's a like so far,not love!

AriabianQueen

It was my blind but and it's sooo good!
Sophisticated, elegant, well blendend, a bit spicy- but in a good way. One of my favourite.

Murphs_law

This was a blind buy and I was hoping it was something I would like because, according to reviews, it seemed to be. I’ll wear it a few more times to get a better sense of how it goes, but so far, it’s not my thing. I can smell some of the notes listed, jasmine, slight non-sweet vanilla and peppercorn, but on my skin the combination smells like sharp, powdery baby wipes to me- not pleasant. Definitely not the vanilla-forward scent that a lot of reviewers are describing, unfortunately. It’s strong with good sillage, which would usually be a plus, but not so far in this case. I do like it a little better when I bury my nose in my shirt, but not so much the scent in the air around me.

Creamy_ambrette

Interesting! This isn’t the bay leaf you find in your kitchen cupboard, nor is it overwhelming in the composition- Californian or Mediterranean which can be grassy. This is West Indian “bay rum”. It’s definitely aromatic, then sweet and slightly powdery. It’s strong at least my bottle is; which is at least 5 years old and dark amber. Its sophisticated but there’s something about it I’m not sure i like. I need a few more wears.

Blind buy...lm not overly impressed by it, I got a 100ml bottle based off the reviews and pros and cons on here saying its beautiful, expensive smelling, and classy. It was quite cheap too and l liked the bottle design.
The fragrance is okay, it doesn't offend but doesn't excite me either. I get a strange liquorice type note in it that bothers me, it also has a rubbery smell to it the sort of smell of chemical and rubber you would smell in a shoe repair shop, then a basic vanilla pushes in which is neither weak or strong. I'm surprised about its quietness as a Ropion perfume, l was hoping for a bit of oomph. I love a savage projection perfume, an unapologetic beast that the whole world can smell when I'm wearing it.
I'm not going to wear this one, I'll leave it for 5-8 years and try it again to see if l like it then. It's going to be one of those perfumes that has to grow on me over a huge amount of years and the very second it disappears from existence and greedy ebay sellers are charging a mortgage on a house for the remaining bottles left on the planet, l will no doubt fall in love with it. Oh and the silly red tassle will piss you off too it gets in the way so had to go! I give this a 5/10.

Punarinta

This is my favourite vanilla in my collection! To me this feels like and elegant vanilla? It has more going on than being just a sweet vanilla note and it doesn't feel juvenile. I'd say don't be too scared of the bay leaf note, I can sometimes pick it up in the opening, but think of it more as... adding a little bit of salt when you are baking to make everyhting else level up? Lasts and projects pretty good also!

JaneDough

When I first received this, I wasn’t so sure about it. It felt powdery to me for some reason, but the more I wear it, the more I really like it! Ive been wearing it everywhere. I wear it to church, the grocery store, doctors and dental appts, just around the house, tonight my 5 yr old came over to tell me something, but got a whiff of this perfume and told me I smelled like pie😂 then demanded I give him some pie! Its must be this perfume because I have no pie! I have some cookies stashed away he doesn’t know about… anyway, I’m really, really enjoying this. I do get the pipe smoke smell other reviewers had mentioned and now I guess I’m adding pie. It is a very comfy, cozy, scent great for fall and winter. I will try it in summer as well. I blind bought this after reading all the reviews and I'm glad to have it!

brandiwine1980

This was love at first sniff! I disagree with others, this is a grown up gourmand! I don’t have anything else like it in my collection, but it reminds me of some of my other comfy, cozy scents so it’s familiar. It is the same vibe as Curve Crush, Amor Amor, Betsey Johnson and Ombré Rose. It’s those vanilla, musky, powdery, citrus cashmere notes that I adore. The others are Lalique Le Parfum’s spicy brunette cousins. She’s the demure, classy blonde in a cream colored cashmere sweater who loves to bake almond sugar cookies. I can envision this being a fall and winter signature scent.

Heartache

A blind buy which I initially disliked but by the end of the day I liked it so much I ordered another bottle. I opening bay note which I now quite like, dissipates quickly and all the other notes make themselves known. The drydown is a lovely slightly spicy vanilla. This is a beautiful underated perfume, in my opinion.

bjer-don

Lol. I love this one!!!!! However, I wore it to work one day, and a guy I work with asked out loud, "who smokes a pipe???". We all were confused. He insisted he smelled pipe tobacco. After sniffing around, he said, "It's you!!!". Well, it was. That just killed it for me. I'm thinking it's the bay leaf that causes this reaction on my skin. But now, all I smell is pipe tobacco when I wear it.

PrinceCorum

Purchased this as a gift for someone but figured I'd test it out to see if it was any good. The answer: a resounding absolutely.

Whatever Lalique and Dominic Ropion did to this formula is amazing. Over 24 hours longevity on my skin and that's hard to achieve with my skin chemistry. Paired with a projection of about 6 feet for the first few hours, then about to arms length in another few. Eventually settling in to a skin scent for the remainder.

Initial spray is a bit chemically and harsh but after a few minutes it really starts to open up and shine. A soft powdery sweetness with hints of florals, but not overly saccharine. Has a sort of vintage made modern feel about it. After sitting on the skin for about 6 hours to when it dissipates, I get this soft whipped vanillic scent which to me, is excellent.

Price point is excellent like most of Lalique's catalog. I picked this up at a discounter for just over $30 US after taxes.

Given how inexpensive this one is. No reason not to blind buy and give it a shot.

Mc1995

Beautiful. Can’t go wrong with a fragrance like this. Dominique Ropion is a genius. Simple but really enjoyable. Affordable too. Reminds me a lot of Kenzie Amour but that one has a rice note so it goes total powder. This one has the Indian bay leaf. Gives it a slight edge. Bit more spice in there. Perfect for winter. All these vanilla based fragrances are very intimate, don’t expect something to fill the room with. But a very pretty scent bubble. Just because they aren’t all over tik tok or Sephora, Don’t ignore some of these houses who do really good quality stuff for affordable prices like Lalique, Boucheron, Joop, Mauboussin etc. also those saying they get no vanilla, this is a spiced resinous type vanilla. Realistic vanilla, not a bath and body works candy vanilla.

Regis Monkton

Lalique is one of my favorite fragrance companies, but I'm at least somewhat disappointed with Lalique Le Parfum: I wish I used my money for something other than Lalique Le Parfum. I've sampled Nishane "Ani" before (I like "Ani"), and I think that Lolita Lempicka "Green Lover" is a much better inexpensive alternative to "Ani" than Lalique Le Parfum. Lalique Le Parfum is more like a vanilla-prominent version of something like Ted Lapidus "Altamir" (I dislike "Altamir"): Lalique Le Parfum being the vanilla-prominent take on the matter, "Altamir" being the tonka bean-prominent take on the matter. I can like Lalique Le Parfum over "Altamir", and I wouldn't say Lalique Le Parfum is a bad fragrance, but it's not my taste and I wish I used my money on something I would actually like to wear. I would say that Lalique Le Parfum is somewhat feminine-leaning, and not in a way which I prefer. Also, I truly wish that Lalique Le Parfum had a lot more of the bay leaves, patchouli, sandalwood, pepper, and bergamot which are listed as notes for it: I got mostly a vanillic version of Ted Lapidus "Altamir". I might be able to like it more with time, but I'm not sure. I'll keep it anyways, and I'll use it sometimes even though I'm not very fond of it. I believe the batch code for my bottle is: BOA23.

Rhi123

I am so confused by the reviews saying this is a vanilla forward fragrance. I smell NO vanilla at all, just very dated patchouli and the herbal bay. Far too aromatic for me. Actually a bit like a combination of furniture polish and medicine or TCP if anything. It smells immediately strong and sharp but then disappears very quickly, no sillage at all and the base notes don't develop, it just disappears completely. I have an old bottle I bought on eBay so this might be why the scent and longevity has deteriorated but that might be helpful for some people. It doesn't seem to last on your shelf! It smells nothing like softer vanilla herbal fragrances such as Mon Guerlain so don't let that mislead you. The only way I can wear this is by mixing it with something sweeter - and I don't like sweet perfumes so that's saying something!

rene.saller

In the older A-Z guide, Tania Sanchez dismisses this as a "terribly frumpy" "peony-oriental," and as much as I admire her (and Turin too), I must disagree with her. (My standards are nowhere near as high, which makes it easier.) To my nose this is not particularly peony forward (although I love peony, so I might just think of that as "ooh, something here smells gooooood!"). Neither is it what I would call an oriental, exactly, although the West Indian bay and pink pepper add a little glamorous, globe-trottin' something-something. I mostly get vanilla, but as others have noted, it's not especially sweet--nowhere near as sweet as the vanilla in Mon Guerlain or Guess Seductive Noir. With the ebullient citrus on top, Lalique Le Parfum feels lighter than a gourmand, lighter than most vanilla fragrances these days (although it does remind me here and there of earlier vanilla frags--maybe a little bit Vanilla Fieldsish at moments?). It also reminds me the tiniest bit of pine oil floor soap, but that's a smell I really like, so I'm not complaining. I do not find it hysterical or screechy in the slightest; my nose might be less developed than Ms. Sanchez's, or I might have a weaker batch, or tastes vary, or some combination of the above. I would not be at all surprised if this had been reformulated a time or two since that guide came out. Give it a chance, and sniff it for yourself, even if you do worship at the altar of Turin/Sanchez (as I mostly do). If nothing else, the bottle is very heavy and nice for what is now a cheapie, and you can remove that silly silk tassel if it gets you down. (I don't really care for the Delina tassel either, or the Delila one, which is what I have.)

Update: As this dries down, I'm smelling more of the vanilla, but the citrussy and aromatic top notes are still discernible. I'm not sure how I would categorize this fragrance. It's almost like a vanilla freshie, which seems like a weird concept, but it just doesn't feel dense and ambery enough to fit my definition of an oriental. Domique Ropion certainly is an interesting nose--this doesn't smell anything like the other Ropion creations I have smelled, certainly not Alien. I sign on to alphairone's excellent review from 10/23--this is a great gateway into vanilla fandom.

Update: hours after I put it on, my husband turned on the heat on our first floor and said, "Why does it smell like the Pillsbury Dough Boy lives down here?" I had him smell my neck, and yep: it's Le Parfum. I still smell the bay leaf quite strongly, but to him it is mostly vanilla--and he likes it, although I doubt I could get him to wear it, even though I think this is just about perfectly unisex. As is the Pillsbury Doughperson, technically.

Update: Still going strong. The sillage must be intense because my husband insists that he can smell it all over the house now, and I swear I didn't overspray. I'm starting to get the Shalimar comparisons now, but that is only a good thing as far as I am concerned because I love Shalimar. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I prefer Lalique Le Parfum to the Shalimar Iris Milléssime flanker, or, as I call it "Homer Simpson Shalimar" owing to its uncanny donut impersonation.

alphairone

Le Parfum is the ultimate vanilla-forward fragrance for me in that it incorporates Dominique Ropion's ingenious move of using West-Indian bay leaf (Pimenta racemosa) to aromatize the vanilla. Yes, this is the same bay used in the classic Bay Rum colognes, rather than the Laurus nobilis we use to flavor soups, sauces and seafood (though that could create interest in fragrance as well). Pimenta racemosa has facets of clove, cinnamon, and its own ineffable aromatic greenish "bay rum" quality that sets it apart. This creates a contrast with the vanilla and a fizzy-fluffy-powdery heliotrope, giving it an androgynous quality: it can easily question perceptions of gender in fragrance: Le Parfum is unisex with a capital U.

Its sillage may give suggestions on fresh tobacco to the nose due to tonka, but the almond floral nutty vanilla pushes it in a more tender, supple direction. Feeling autumnal and cozy, it warms the late October chill, and never veers into gourmand territory: there's no caramel, praline, no heavy maltol, just ever so slightly grounded with patchouli in the base. Might I add, this is one that makes me want to hug others like a Care Bear— look at that, here's an image of vanilla beans on my tummy. It turns out that Le Parfum opened the door for better appreciating vanilla in fragrance all around; I've learned that I can more than handle it as the centerpiece rather than a supporting note in ambers and tobacco. I've warmed up to vanilla as it has warmed me up.

Kosi_don

I got this as a blind buy. And I absolutely love it. It’s a cozy cashmeran nutty scent to me. Not a sweet vanilla. I Like it for fall /winter indoors type of occasion

jklovesperfumes

I’m torn between keeping my bottle of this or sell… sometimes I’m fine with it sometimes not… sometimes it’s cloying to me, it smells too aromatic? too sweet? kinda mentholated? but somehow find it unique and sophisticated… I sometimes find it similar to Mon Guerlain edp that I also have… I’m still confused If I really like it or not 😂

SnowIce

Lalique Le Parfum is a blind by after looking at youtube channel Style Digest giving very good review. Despite of that I could not wait anything specific for some reason. So it was exciting to get the first sniff. It opens quite sharp but soon gives various notes which are very interesting. In my collection, this one is absolutely only one of its kind. Sweet, exciting and slightly herbal maybe because West Indian bay is there. This is definitely an elegantly feminine and enjoyable scent, I would wear this at parties. Vanilla is also there but not in very overly sweet way. This is for mature girls and lasts very well.

Kuty22

This fragance has been in my collection for a minute. The juice has gotten darker, I store it properly but I've noticed the opening notes are almost fading, the longer it sits the more it becomes a 'vanilla extract' scent.

LouieEtCamille

This was a blind buy. I was hoping for Lalique Le Parfum to be a rich vanilla scent, however all I could smell was a faint combination that reminded me of a Filipino dessert drink called 'sago at gulaman', which is basically made of brown sugar, water, gelatin and tapioca pearls. The bay leaf also gives an aromatherapeutic quality to it. It has a similar vibe (not smell) to Eau Duelle. Not bad, just not what I had hoped for. The longevity and sillage was weak too, so I gave mine away unfortunately.

Julie Davis

This is gorgeous ! Fresh powdery jasmine . Smells very elegant and sophisticated to me .

Gypsy G

Beautiful, warm, cozy and classy vanilla. It's delicate, but noticeable - a very comforting scent.

melleners

Another masterpiece from Mr. Ropion. Spicy, yummy vanilla. This is so affordable, you should really buy it :-)

Charmedbymeghan

First Impression:

I just received this and after wearing for almost an hour I get the feeling this is the type of fragrance I will need to get to know more.

At first I wasn't thrilled with what I smelled. It's "OK" but not the vanilla-centric fragrance I had hoped. Not sure what gave me that idea anyway? But ok, so I need to start all over from scratch! And come at this from a new angle, and get to know this fragrance based on its own merit.

An hour in, I am getting a lot of heliotrope, that kind of floral that gives fragrances an almost lighter airy quality. I also get the almond & vanilla. This isn't gourmandy at all though, still quite lovely. I enjoy my gourmands - but not every fragrance has to be super sweet edible gourmands. This is a (light) grown-up almond/vanilla.

The patchouli & sandalwood is hardly noticeable, although I love both notes anyhow. They must be really in the background, just giving this fragrance a little body.

And the bay note initially both intrigued me and scared me! Lol but it isn't adding a savory aspect. It's well blended with the rest of the top notes & (most noticeable) heliotrope, almond & vanilla. I feel the bay leaf is making this a touch more interesting actually. Kind of comes off as "spiritual" & almost like natural-medicine, but not too much where it would be off-putting at all.

This is a lighter projector (at least for me!) as I am usually after beast-mode projectors (or at least a good solid projection level). And this is on the lower end of the spectrum. Scent is still beautiful though, but maybe not groundbreaking. So I'm not sure I will end up reaching for this a ton. I may end up reselling.

I can see this being a love for those who want a more quiet, but still present pretty & interesting non-gourmand almondy floral-vanilla.

I will give this a full wear test though and overspray the crap outta it to see if it can be a love or at least have the potential to get there. Right now I am not closing the door on that possibility.

Nilodlien

This is an unexpected, underrated, and under appreciated treasure! It’s not like anything else in my collection. The bay is unexpected and gives it such a feeling of sparkling freshness. The vanilla keeps it from going too herbal. It’s clean and feminine. It’s my “classy” fragrance - the one I know I can wear that everyone will like. It’s not a sex bomb, it’s not beast mode, but it’s one I’ve recommended most often. Sometimes it falls out of my rotation because, I will admit, my head gets turned by the heavier, ambers.

But then my hand will fall on my bottle of Lalique Le Parfum and it’s like calling up an old friend. You don’t understand why you stopped talking to her every day because you really do love her so much and there’s no one else quite like her.

Sasspergers

Got this as a blind buy after reading the reviews on here, and am glad I did. There's something really alluring about this to me; it's almost like a cleaner version of 212 Sexy Men but more elegant and laid-back. It's really good for both casual wear and special occasions. I do wish the sillage was a bit more pronounced, but that's only because the scent is so refreshing and distinct. Longevity is good. Thanks Fragrantica!

Conniec

This is a perfume like no other. If you are searching something original with vanilla this is it. I am agree with @hahantafromsanta , this perfume is between a cozy and sophisticated perfume. With the vanilla and the bay leaf note pink peper and tonka bean added spices definitely you will not smell like everyone else in the room.
I recommended for autumn and winter, for night and have the the complexion for use at events like Christmas parties/dinners or formal family events weddings .
And is affordable. Enjoy

MCW7

What a gorgeous, underrated perfume! I didn’t even know this was on the radar till I saw someone on YouTube talking about it. The Bayleaf intrigued me. I got it yesterday and I absolutely love it. I was put off for a minute on the initial opening . It is a strong blast.. but it is absolutely gorgeous. Spicy, powdery (not baby powder) aromatic scent. The dry down is absolutely beautiful and stays for a very long time. You can smell the Bayleaf and vanilla just breathtaking. I got compliments last night first time I wore.. If you want to smell different than everybody else, get this perfume. love it especially the Bayleaf note! Classy, sophisticated. the lasting power is very good.. woke up this morning. Still smelling like that on my skin and hair.

Jwdp

Can we talk about the atomizer here? It’s amazing. Solid, heavy, gorgeous bottle. Fragrance is sophisticated and classy with impressive longevity. Luxurious experience in every way with this one, from a master perfumer, all for relative pennies. What a win!

Safistus

So I bought this as a gift for my sister (she and my mother being a fan of Lalique alongside me) and I have to say that I was on point with this one.
Never expected to smell so good, so classy, refined and even very long lasting.
I tested it yesterday and today I can still feel it in my skin very well.
Comparing this with Amouage's Figment Woman, this one stays more on me than that one.

Don't know if we were lucky with a more intense batch but I'm considering buying more Laliques if they are all like this.
I allready have Encre Noire Extreme which is one of my fave, especially in the very cold days.

The bottles are also great. Heavy, luxurious and very well crafted.

This house never disappointed me.

biancavlad74

An interesting perfume, a successful blind buy! In the opening you can feel the vanilla and pepper and in the drydown the vanilla and the bay leaf remain. It remains a pleasant, aromatic, vanilla, slightly lactic smell (thanks to the tonka beans and sandalwood), it is a mature perfume suitable for autumn evenings. Unfortunately, on my skin it is not very persistent.

hantafromsanta

Chilly autumn winds blowing over the hills and through the leaves still green, and you wonder how time flies and where the lively warmth of summer went.
Between elegance and coziness, this powdery, dry, spiced vanilla is one of a kind. And for me, enveloped in the biggest, softest blankets of melancholy.

OfTheValley

I caved in and bought this blind because I found a special offer and the price was a steal. I didn't expect it to be this good and powerful! A green vanilla that can be layered with so many other scents but is perfect on its own. It's not cloying, and creates a nice scent bubble. I love it.

Leah0026

This is a very interesting vanilla and it smells high-end. Unfortunately, it’s too aromatic for me. The bay leaf creates a very minty opening.

crissy25

I had no how much I was going to like this fragrance! It was a free shipping purchase. It turned out to be the star. It's a beautiful slightly aromatic, green vanilla. Not something I thought I would love but I do! It smells addictive. Appropriate year round, and shines in all weather. This is a fairly unique creamy vanilla among my collection and I truly enjoy wearing it! It's beautiful!

ppalm

to me its a feminine powdery vanilla with a touch of floral. That said, I do think a man could wear this if they can pull off feminine scents. At first sniff I thought it was a no, but after a few minutes I think it could easily be a signature year round scent. its very nice and it's different. For the price you can get this on discounters sites, this is an incredible deal. it does not smell cheap at all.

whether I keep this or not, time will tell. But I do like the scent and it could turn into a love over time.

Colossalscent

Bay leaves are the main protagonist of the fragrance and they are paired with a classy and subtle vanilla with some powdery undertone, it's an intriguing perfume. This has unfortunately some "old lady" feeling to it in my opinion, gonna gift it.

makitakeshita

I bought it but It's too strong for me. Beautiful though...
I won't use it anymore...

Lovescents3

This fragrance really delivers. I blind bought it after watching some reviews and just love it.
I mostly get vanilla with the bay leaf plus a powdery note. It’s incredibly comforting.
I’m not sure if it is a crowd pleaser. I think the bay leaf note would be the make or break for people with this. I happen to really enjoy it. It gives it a herbal, aromatic edge. It’s different for sure, and quite unisex.
It has a slight vintage feel to me. I think the powdery aspect conveys that for me.
I can wear this all year round, day or night.

muriel_puce

Delicious. Massive, heavy square bottle, challenging to store.

clairdelune

I decided to order a sample based on all the good reviews, plus the Dominique Ropion factor, and have been racking my brain trying to figure out what it reminds me of. After three days it finally popped into my head -- CK's Secret Obsession. When I compare the notes for each they're not terribly similar, but I still think that's it. Anyone have the same experience?
As I continue to wear this, for me, it's more an almond-dominant fragrance than a vanilla-dominant fragrance. I'm also finding that the more I wear it the more I like-- even crave it. To say it has grown on me is putting it mildly.
Update: After about a week of sampling I went ahead and sprung for a full bottle and have therefore joined the legions of fans for Le Parfum. It's a wonderful unsweet concoction that surrounds me with this delicious, warm aura of almonds with patchouli. Sometimes I pick up a faint tobacco scent - the bay? I think this is best suited to cold weather wear. Another bene -- very affordable!

MiwaB

Bay leaves heavy… thats all i can smell unfortunately.

FBRADLEY

I love this. It smells like Mancera Black Vanilla minus the peach a bit to me. I'm not great on describing notes but I get vanilla, powder and a note I can't distinguish, may the bay leaf. This is very comforting. I can see this can be considered unisex.

Enar_smells_good

I love this! First of all, the bottle is gorgeous. I really like the scent! I would say it is unique, while still being crowd pleasing. Definitely vanilla, and the bay leaf comes across clearly. I really enjoy it! Vanilla with an aromatic greenness throughout. A slightly minty (but not in a toothpaste kind of way, just slight) herbal quality. It's a little boozy and powdery too, especially in the dry-down for me. I'm loving this! I think a lot of people are saying it's for fall/winter, but that bit of greenness makes it excellent for spring in my opinion! But I'd wear it year-round. Maybe just not on the hottest of days, but summer evenings for sure. Great quality for the price!

Amy Budiman

1st initial spray is quite synthetic for me, but turns out pretty nice in a few minutes. It truly is a mix of floral and vanilla fragrance. It has the right amount of sweet, a bit minty too, which i grew loving it so much. The dry down smells so soft but still strong enough to make people notice.

Waterlily333

I’m really intrigued by this fragrance. I’m getting vanilla and almond softness, but there is some brightness and fruitiness too. It feels like these should clash but somehow together they work, grounded by the wood and patchouli. The tension between the notes creates something unique, slightly unsettling but beautiful.

What a gem! How does Lalique keep giving us exceptional fragrances with such low prices?! This is such a unique take on vanilla fragrance. It is warm and sweet for just the right amount. The twist of spices and herbs coming from the bay leaves and pink peppers is elegantly done. It isn't loud but it makes a statement. It is inviting but also sets limits. I love every part of the experience from wearing this. It is marketed towards women but definitely unisex. Elevate your scent game with this beauty. Trust in Dominique Ropion.

achatina

Detman101 I agree in 100%. One of the most interesting frags around. To me it also smells a bit like those chocolate barrels with alcohol and a bit of Tobacco. As long as they make it will be always in my collection.

Subhuman

Lalique Le Parfum is vanilla perfume for people who think they hate vanilla perfume. Signed by Dominique Ropion, weaver of deliriously decadent dreams, Le Parfum is laden with that mouthwatering boozy vanilla you smell around Christmas as bakers bust out their most expensive extracts and dried pods - warm, rich, woody, and lush. The stroke of genius here is how un-gourmand Le Parfum is, despite that realistic vanilla. It's textured with enough silky white florals, dusty cedar and patchouli, and gently herbal bay leaf to make it feel surprisingly sophisticated for something that could have easily been a slapdash fruity floral with zero concessions to good taste. It's what Margiela's By the Fireplace should have smelled like, instead of the crude tobacco-vanilla deodorant that it is. (It's also, to my nose, what Dior Addict smells like in an alternate universe where LVMH's bean counters haven't been born yet and the world is at peace.) True vanilla-phobes should probably stay away regardless, but if you're like me and crave a vanilla perfume maybe twice a year - and only good vanilla will do! - Lalique Le Parfum should be in your shopping cart. It'll probably take me ages to drain my bottle, but I'm thrilled to have it. (Looks nice on a dresser, too.)

ilydemirel

When it dries down, just like cuir de nuit from yves rocher.

Detman101

UnfrigginBELIEVABLE!!! This vanilla is perfection!
I...am kicking...myself....SO HARD right now!!! I spent close to $800 on "Jimmy Choo - Vanilla Love" bottles last year just to have backups (and one bottle for a close friend) and "Lalique - Le Parfum" is like two steps above that!!! It lasts longer, has better sillage, has that nice powdery mid, and no fruitiness. ARGH!! I could have bought enough "Le Parfum" to last me a lifetime with that "Vanilla Love" money!!!!!!
I'll still use up my backup bottles of "Vanilla Love" but !@#$!@# am I mad that I'm just now finding out about "Lalique - Le Parfum"

I honestly didn't expect that much from "Le Parfum" when I saw it over a year ago...probably why I didn't buy it immediately. I thought the "Bay leaf" would give it a grassy green tinge like "Alexandria Fragrances - Moonstruck" and I didn't want to shell out $$ for that experience again. So I didn't even bother getting a sample of "Le Parfum"...just added it to my list of "Vanillas to acquire...eventually".
Boy oh boy did I mess up BIG TIME by not getting this IMMEDIATELY!!!
>=[
I've been going through my entire vanilla fragrance collection trying to find out what vanilla I can layer/wear with my custom bottle of "AF - Funtastic" and now I FINALLY have it. Perfect powderiness, perfect vanilla, perfect sweetness, perfect strength and projection, just overall perfection! I know it's a great one when my wife AND mother are trying to steal it from me.
This is going to be sooooo perfect for the workplace in the spring and I know it's going to layer with ALL of my spring/summer fragrances PERFECTLY! I've already ordered a backup bottle and I'll probably be ordering at least 3-4 more for close family and friends. This is just....amazing.
Literally, perfect!

Neverapeoplepleaser

Possibly the least upsetting from my La Lique haul. As ever with La Lique, lovely bottle. Looks and feels very expensive. Herbal take on a classic vanilla. It's OK. Might wear it but I doubt it. Good longevity. Would make a decent and quite safe gift. I wouldn't repurchase any of the La Lique range. Although they are good quality for a very cheap price.

jocing

The main notes will be vanilla but some unique touch of herbal and sweet dry airy feel when it project to the air. Some people might think this smell like bug spray. Could be the bay leaf from the top note combine with the almond and jasmine that cause the herbal traditional medicine vibe. But the strong medicine effect will not last long, it will slowly fade away and tone down when time one or 2 hours.

You might had a hard time to sniff air and get oxygen interruption, if you over spray it and use them in a dry humid environment. The sweetness of the vanilla and herbal dry effect create the driest vanilla ever and air hardly in hale from your nose. This is what I get from this perfume. It depend on each individual.

Overall the performance are great, just judging by the value price you pay. I spray them on my cloth and go to bed, the smell was stay on my bedsheet. It last about 2 days.
Not recommend you over spray if you are using them in office. Just a far distance one spray will last all day long.

The way this perfume projection is great, if you prefer people to smell your perfume. This is recommended.

Ferra_Verto

Spicy and herbal take on a vanilla-tonka gourmand. Almond & heliotrope lend a fluffy & powdery balance. Be advised, the bay leaf opening lingers for a considerably long time, so I'd steer away if you tend to find that off-putting.
Best suited for cool weather, will work perfectly in spring & autumn. I love to wear this to sleep, very comforting.
Very affordable find.

Vellocet

This is a nice, affordable perfume. Nothing new and original but still delicious! A little bit sharp at first but then dries down to a classic, comforting powdery vanilla with some almonds lingering in the background. A safe blind buy!

Compositeur

The bay leaf is dissonant and bitter in the wrong way, i.e. it clashes rather than enhance. The vanilla is generic. I get no almond and no heliotrope. Probably a bad reformulation. Disappointing.

Kuty22

I dunno what happened but ever since the juice got darker, I'm no longer getting the top notes, it opens with sweet powdery vanilla and dries down to a Tonka patchouli scent

D@ne

They may have once been a grand perfume, in its current formulation, there's briefly a ylang-vanilla accord topnote, shortly followed by, what can only be described as vanilla dryer sheet.

Stunning bottle. What a waste.

BougieGirlShops

This is a very interesting fragrance, and I love the twist of the bayleaf. Adds a bit of spiciness and dimension. Unfortunately 3+ hrs into the dry down, all the nuance fades away and it becomes yet another fairly generic sweet vanilla, close to body, scent. I have a mountain of bottles now that all start off vastly different but by hour 3 or 4, they all smell pretty much indistinguishable.

dubdub

Mature sophisticated vanilla. The bayleaf makes the fragrance a little herby and unique and very unisex as well.

LadyIva

Bah. Sweet vanilla, and not much else.

Parkernosy

An unexpected beauty and my new favorite. On me, the bay leaf is juicy and refreshing, bright with the pink pepper. The vanilla is a little spicy and herbal but also well-rounded and gentle. I'd consider the longevity to be good, especially on clothes, and the sillage to be intimate.
The bottle is gorgeous although, like all Art Deco things, not interested in the shape of your hand.

buubuu

Peppery birthday cake scent.

One of my close colleagues told me after the meeting this is what I smelled like when I wear this perfume. I laughed, sniffed myself and from that moment, every time I wear this scent, peppery cake is always on my mind.

Great perfume actually, works wonder especially on colder occasions. But sometimes, very overpowering. Like way to much sillage, fill the room with the scent when I wear this on clothes. Like Phyllis from the office and her white diamonds.

So the way I used this perfume is one of the Tiktok perfume hacks that everyone on Fragrantica used to do. One spritz of Lalique into your Unscented lotion and apply this all over your body. Yes. This perfume still last like 6 to 8 hours, I don’t know how chemistry works but if you mixed with your lotion, vanilla scent is gone and all you left with the tonka bay leaf scent.

I love this, but I don’t want to wear this at my office. They should admit this scent lingered their mind even after the office hours. It’s their guilty pleasure so as mine. I wear this after I took a long shower, put on a cozy clothes, with the cup of coffee and some rusks and ready to watch some of my favorite series for all day or night long. it’s sexy, comfortable and warm at the same time. My perfume, my choice.

Mystères du Château de Dé

Yes this smells like Patchouli Reminiscence. They both have a "sludgy" note in the top, but it's coming from mid or bottom note molecules. I don't have a trained nose to tell you which referenced note it is and based on what molecule(s). I would guess it comes from molecules representing tonka and vanilla. When it blows off, I like both fragrances although Patchouli Reminiscence is a bit more complex and interesting.

My bottle was made in 2022, and where are the top notes? I'll let is sit for a month or two and return.

Longevity is massive and its permanent on fabric until washed.

marchat

The West Indian Bay leaf note intrigued me so I blind-bought it. I love aromatic vanillas but this one pulled bitter on my skin. Not sure if it was the bay leaf or another note. I am disappointed because I love finding great-smelling quality fragrances at a great price.

Edit: I decided to give this one more try since the weather has gotten cooler. I am sooo glad I did. It is phenomenal! No bitterness at all and the West Indian bay leaf gives it that interesting aromatic twist. I will be wearing this quite a bit this fall.

minachanpark

Hi I am a person who has followed the reviews from this post so I can conclude to buy this perfume bottle without any further thought. I am very worried because maybe the feelings of the majority will sometimes be different from my personal feelings. However, fortunately I decided to buy it. It has been the most enlightening of my many blind purchases. Before Lalique's Le Parfum, I had a bottle of Encre noise Sport, and I was impressed with the fragrances from this brand. Good price, good scent, good fragrance.
Le Parfum is a warm spicy vanilla fragrance =))) It's sweet but it's not feminine sweetness, but I think it's the kind of sweetness suitable for unisex. I smell a little spicy from the first notes, I guess it is the smell of West India Bay and Pink Pepper. It is completely impossible to smell grapefruit in the top notes. The middle note is a typical jasmine scent but still has something warm. Very quickly, from jasmine to warm, sweet vanilla. I'm not very clear about each ingredient but I can smell the vanilla and sandalwood quite clearly.
It is the woody vanilla scent that is both warm and different, which makes this scent quite interesting.
Good price when I bought it on sale on Jomashop.
I think it is suitable for autumn and winter use. In the summer, it makes everything suffocating. Impressive scent retention, I sprayed it on my way to work at 8AM and until the evening when I got home at 7PM it was still smelling good. At less than $40 for a bottle of this perfume, what more could you ask for? ^^

laukin911

First thought another orange blossom type fragrance you can find at the department store. Very easy throw on signature scent.
It does transform into something more spicy and balsamic. Almost unisex but better on a woman.
I would be happy to have this in my collection if I ever see this on a good deal.

Grenouille's_cave

How is this so cheap? It’s so moreish and wearable, such a great balance and not at all synthetic. It’s really lovely. The tassels on the bottle are so soft. It does give me airport thoughts, but it’s probably an Italian airport and it’s being worn by a very sexy and sophisticated woman in the cafe. A 100ml bottle cost me £20 but if you told me that was Tom Ford I would believe you.

Sephmosh

Every time I smell my wrist It is like a cloudy fluffy powdery sweet, and then like a sharp edge kicks in, very Parisian! And the bottle is soooo luxurious 🌟 Love it

Daria_Violin

Wear it right now at +10 C. This one is a great, not too sweet or too dry comfy, but slightly fancy niche-y vanilla scent with a hint of tonka bean and other nice stuff. The bay leaf note is somehow exotic and interesting, this is not the bay leaf you put in your food, this is an other one. The price here in Europe is very affordable.

lipstickzombie

This is one of the biggest reasons I never test on paper and always test on skin. On paper it's a cheapie HP dupe on my skin it smells like I bathed in pepper, pencil shavings and vanilla.

LizDee007

This reminds me of a better version of Kenzo Amour and a lighter version of Hypnotic Poison EDT. It’s light, airy and aromatic but I would much rather have Dior Hypnotic Poison. It’s a beautiful bottle and once I run out I won’t repurchase, but who knows…I might gravitate back and really like it. As I’m writing this, I’m thinking maybe I’ll use this to layer with HP. Who knows, but it was a blind buy and I’m not mad..just not overly excited. It is pretty though🙂

UPDATE: (2hours later) it’s officially my top shelf scent. It’s so light and airy yet others can notice it. Many compliments!

mika71

Magical, unique, and addictive. Ethereal, airy, translucent vanilla with a hint of tonka and some aromatic spice from the bay leaf. I get zero pencil shavings, none. Not strong or long lasting, I have to overspray. Oh well, it's worth it.

Unruly Julie

So pretty! Reminds me of a spicy Heliotrope Blanc, which I love.

abbieclark67

Mesmerizing! It tastes just like pepper-spiced vanilla whipped cream. This has incredible vanilla flavour, a fresh, spicy composition, and a hint of powder to give it a slightly feminine touch. Lovely creamy, deep oriental fragrance that lasts for hours without losing its top notes while still being delicate and silky. Very well-crafted fragrance that is sure to draw praise. I think a woman who is self-assured, a touch sarcastic, yet genuinely lovely, and respectable to others should wear this perfume.

Kuty22

The temperature is rising and I decided to try this on a really hot day
The top notes disappeared in less than 5m, I was left with the middle and base notes - absolute 😍 albeit more feminine without them.

itsamarshmallowworld

This aromatic, spicy vanilla fragrance is pure magic. Both relaxing and sensual, it’s a true fragrant delight. The dry down reminds me a lot of the dry down in Guess Seductive Noir (another favourite of mine). Absolutely stunning!

Edemay

@fivezero

The pencil shavings/cedar smell is coming from the pink pepper!
It ruins almost every fragrance its in for me

juristhegreat

Marketed for woman but it is for sure a unisex fragrance. One of the best release from this house. Opened up with something unique and aromatic from bay leaf and bergamot, turn into floral powdery of almond and heliotrope. The base is sweet and sensual with vanilla, tonka, and patchouli plus a creamy type of Sandalwood. This is affordable masterpiece from master Dominique Ropion. And of course came in beautiful bottle (with red tassel) because it is a Lalique.

Lulu04

Spicy aromatic vanilla, easily unisex even though it's a bit sweet and powdery on me on the dry down.

Kuty22

Aww I have to change it to a love 😍
The vanilla in here is just chef's kiss 👌🏾

Kotikina

A beautiful, smoky, not really sweet vanilla, which of course can never be boring since it was created by Dominique Ropion! Something about it reminded me of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. The bay leaf is one of the most prominent notes, followed by good tonka beans and some pink pepper. The smell also reminded me of an old museum for some reason. A must have for autumn.

Fraghag7

At first this smelled like a smoky version of Mon Guerlain to me. Then I tested again on a different day and it smelled similar to Mon Guerlain intense. Even though I love Mon Guerlain intense and the regular Mon Guerlain, there is something I dislike about lalique. I think maybe if I had never smelled any Mon Guerlain before then maybe I would like it better.
In my opinion this is more herbal, sharp and a little synthetic. Worth sampling but would not recommend a blind buy.

LaughItOut

Definitely unique, in the dry down softens and gains depth. Beautifully rich heliotrope.

Unfortunately, I dislike it. For some reason, the vanilla with tonka bean possibly make this smell awkward on me, drying down to something that makes me feel old and uncomfortable.

Amritamourus

The first thing you can smell are the aromatic notes. Then bergamot mixes in with a tiny bit of that flowery note. Later it becomes more warm and you get the vanilla. The scent itself is very nice, clean and unique. After some more time it smells more powdery and like a much more expensive perfume than it actually is. I dare to say that it even has an iris-like note come through.
The performance of this perfume is very underwhelming. If it would perform better, I would buy it. I see people here writing that they could not smell it much, but people around could. I definitely am one of those people. If you like strong performing perfumes or at least something you FOR SURE want to smell for yourself, I would not suggest this. Close to the skin (for your own nose). Not a blind buy.

5/10

Scent = 3/3
Performance = 0/3
Wearability = 2/3
Value = 0/1

HecateZeusIsis

This is an unusual vanilla, even after some of the bad reviews I blind bought this and it was a good decision. This is a herby vanilla, slightly powdery and could 100 pass off as a niche perfume, on me this smells very nice, but it is not a warm smell. I quite liked it and would use it year around, doesn't seem season specific to me.

Carolinefragrance

A successful blind buy.

From the beginning a love that has at times turned into an obsession. For me this is simply a lovely aromatic green mellow vanilla. A bit like vanilla with an attitude. As much as I love it, I think it can be divisive due to the West Indian Bay leaf – to me herbal but also slightly reminiscent of a juicy rose. I was surprised to see almond in the ingredients list since I don’t pick that up at all. I feel this is a classic scent that is unisex and might possibly appeal more to the more mature wearer. The bottle is lovely although a bit tricky to grip due to the shape and the sprayer is fantastic. For me this is a signature worthy scent suitable for all year-round wear on any occasion and definitely office safe.

I just wish Lalique le Parfum had better longevity. I usually do about 10 to 12 sprays and the initial blast is quite strong. I find that after five hours I have to top up since it’s become more of a skin scent. To be fair it lasts much longer on clothes. I tend to wear it at home where I can respray when necessary. For work I prefer a perfume that has better longevity. I have been obsessing about this perfume lately and find I also really love to wear it in bed. I am surprised that I have never received a compliment wearing this – not that it matters since I wear scents for my own pleasure but still – it’s so gorgeous.

For me this is back up bottle worthy – already got mine : ) After the second bottle I think I will only repurchase if they release the Lalique le Parfum Intense – now that would be something.

Yarzzz30

The smell of the fragrance isn’t what you’d expect from the notes. It just smells so synthetic, and not the warm tonka, vanilla, almond you’d expect . It’s a very cheep body spray type of vanilla. Think of hair spray smell with a very synthetic vanilla extract medical smell. Very bad.

FakeTara

This was a blind buy for me - one of the first buys at all after getting back into fragrance after about a decade-long hiatus. I was so devastated when I received it and realized that I could not smell it at all! So much so that I signed up for Fragrantica to see if anyone else was reporting this problem. I noticed that user OnTheNose1982 had the same issue as I: her family could smell the scent and she could not. I will say that I was able to smell other scents in my collection but did notice that I couldn't smell a handful of them. I chalked it up to getting old and anosmic to possibly musk?

I kept trying again every few days to see if I could smell it, then today - BOOM! I can! Amazingly, I scrolled down to OnTheNose1982's review and saw an update that she, too, can now smell this fragrance. For myself, I wonder if possibly it was asymptomatic COVID. My partner was sick with COVID during the time when I couldn't smell it, but I had no symptoms and tested negative on at least a dozen rapid tests, though I never had a PCR.

Regarding the fragrance: absolutely lovely and just what I was searching for: a floral fragrance with a slightly spicy, almost herbal depth. I swear I smell a tea note? But, perhaps that is just how one or a combination of the notes is reading to me. I love this fragrance and am happy to be able to smell it!

onnagreen

This is a keeper for me! It has a vanilla combo smell. On me it dries down smelling ambery. For $25 or a little more it’s worth it.

DenM

Hard no for me. Something is off putting and I love vanilla scents. Do not blind buy like I did. Even though it is inexpensive test it first.

Slickchick81

I bought this as I do many fragrances watching Youtube fragrance videos, total blind buy. I love it, a clean and fresh vanilla, my skin tends to amplify vanilla on me it is creamy with the sandalwood, I don't real detect the pepper I get a hint of a herbal note which I think keeps it fresh and soapy and not gourmand. Absolutely gem, the bottle is simple but very elegant, this is my first ever Lalique if the all smell this good I will have more in my collection. The price is so affordable too. I would call this a 90% safe blind buy I do not think it will offend anyone.

saccitygrl01

A lovely surprise as a blind buy. On dry down, to call this a vanilla scent is really a disservice to such a beautiful and unique fragrance. It is the best heliotrope fragrance I have ever encountered--smells exactly like the flower. The heliotrope is rounded out by a warm almond note. Top note is an ever so slight herbal edge to it which I presume is the bay that give it a slight freshness. As a whole it is a warm and clean scent, all at the same time. Quite lovely and if you like the notes in the description you will like this fragrance.

Kalendra1

I had to sell it, couldn’t wear it. Some how it made my nose to soar, eventually it ended with headache everytime. I blame tonka bean (I feel it really strong), but with other parfums it never happened.

JenSmellsSOGood!

I got married in this fragrance. It's THAT special. Absolutely AMAZING vanilla, tonka bean explosion! By far, the BEST Lalique fragrance for women.

Tt777

This reminds me of the flowerbomb family. Not quite as sweet and lighter on the patchouli. Same perfumer. It’s a spicy incensy vanilla perhaps better for cooler weather. If you like woody spicy vanillas I’d recommend you test this one

Whify

All I can say is "Wow". I have been searching for the perfect vanilla perfume for years - something NOT too sweet, too dry, too strong, too weak, too sexy, too boring, too spicy, too green, too juvenile, too mature, too old fashioned, too meh ..... something that can be worn all seasons, during the day, evening or overnight. I thought I had found it in Dior Addict but that one can sometimes be a little bit too much. This blind buy is, I think, a slightly lighter version of Addict and therefore more versatile. The bay leaf and pepper add bite to the top notes but the dry down is pure creamy gorgeousness which lasts a good six hours on my skin and at least 24 hours on fabric. Projection and sillage are moderate which aids its versatility. This scent is signature worthy and is so reasonably priced that it's unbelievable. There must be a catch - is it discontinued?

OnTheNose1982

My partner blind bought this for me and I am wearing it today. Because I could barely smell it when I tested it yesterday I oversprayed because I love strong scents that stay. I still could barely smell it but my partner could smell me from the other room and commented on how nice it was. When I ran into the basement to grab something my daughter looked up and asked what I was wearing. Such a strange experience that it has such great sillage but I am completely nose blind to it.

When I put my nose right up to my wrist I can detect a hint of powdery vanilla but that’s it.

Anyone else have this experience?!

UPDATE: wearing this again I can definitely smell it and it lasts for almost a whole day! It’s a lovely warm vanilla scent and the bay leaves give it that je ne sais quoi quality because it’s such a unique note. The spray is like a mist, cloud light and enveloping. I think this is what gives it the amazing sillage. But because it’s light and peasant it won’t be bothersome to others who get a whiff.

BotticelliBlonde

Another happy blind buyer here. I'm finding this perfume fascinating, and I've been trying to nail it down for a review, but I realized that being fascinating is my review. I don't love aromatics in my scents and was a bit wary of the bay leaf, but apart from the first blast of bay leaf, it settles into the fragrance the same way it does into a stew, adding a certain special something that just makes things better. On my skin, this is powdery and sophisticated, but on fabric, it's fresh and subtly gourmand, not quite chai latte but in that vein. Either way, it is profoundly calming. I believe this is my first experience with heliotrope, so I don't know how much of the smooth luscious powderiness is coming from the heliotrope, but I love whatever is happening. I am new here and don't have a huge frame of reference, but this is very different from anything else I have smelled, and as a lifelong lover of vanilla I feel like any vanilla lover who doesn't test this is really missing out. This is perfect as it is, but it is also open to layering to amplify aspects such as the citrus or the floral notes.

*loves_shoes*

Blind buy based on reviews and low price.
It’s a herbal, powdery, dry vanilla.
Smells kind of traditional maybe a bit vintage. And also like something a niche house would put out and charge a fortune for.
Unisex and pretty unusual.

aaanamarialatis

It was a blind buy when I found out it is a Dominique Ropion scent, and i think it somehow grew on me. I was expecting a very sweet vanilla, and i think i got that on the first sniff, but the more i wore it, the more interesting it became. It's a green vanilla (?) that it's gonna be perfect for spring, definitely a girly, zingy and fun fragrance, and for the price (about 25 euro) it's a great blind buy.

Shams4life

They say the best things in life usually found while you're looking for something else ..
This is exactly what happened , the bottle looked lovely so why not take a sniff ?!
I'm instantly blown away by this beauty ..
Had no idea about notes it contains but my nose only detected soft addictive rose, almond and patchouli with a lovely hint of vanilla .. not sweet at all ..
Sprayed it on my wrist and left ..
2 hours later and still the same notes only brighter ..

Perfectly blinded .. lasted the whole day long
rose was still dominant till the end (at least to my nose) though I don't see any listed note of rose in here ..

Next day I bought 2 bottles, gave 1 to my sister and kept the other for my pleasure ..
Will never really wear it but I will spray a couple in wrist with inside doors time to time cause I adored this rose in it (Again) .. Also the bottle is gorgeous add to my collection..

Due to price and quality this is a winner in my book ..
* Notes ..

- The juice color was ambery like brown and dark not yellow as in some pictures ..
- and yeah my sister loved it very much .
- Rating 9.5 / 10

On my 1st sniff it gives me mon guerlain florale vibe, indeed they both are different but kinda same genre vanilla base fragrance which I love😍, both ingredients have vanilla, bergamot, sandalwood, tonka bean. Mon guerlain has lavender which gives calmness to it, and LLP has bay leaf which gives me a lil minty feel. Good for a signature scent, a sophisticated vanilla vibe which gives the classy but at the same time sexy feel to it like a wifey fragrance. imo it's not unisex... totally feminine.

gabigen4ik

My quest for the perfect classy scent for colder months is over!
This is a sophisticated vanilla scent that works perfectly both day and night, in the workday and after that... especially on dates ;)) I mean this IS a vanilla fragrance, however there is that bay leaf kick at first, which evolves into cozy almond vanilla with sandalwood and it is just so perfect 😍
At the start of my search I looked at the OGs of winter fragrances - ristretto cafe, black opium, hypnotic poison, angel muse etc.. As a person coming from Eastern Europe, I associate those with the smell of any other mob or football wife - not bad but it is just so... expected? Gourmand and sweet for winter? Groundbreaking 😀
Anyways ladies, pick this up if you want to smell classy, sophisticated but also alluring and sexy. Honestly this perfume will morph into either depending on your mood.. or both ;))

Murmur123123

A unisex unsweetened and spicy vanilla - the spiciness is not from "spices" like cinnamon or cardamom, but think of spiciness from the juice from a fresh, strong, thick and green plant branch that has just been cut. Definitely interesting to try if you love vanilla scents, it has a "niche" quality to it.

lickroicevanille

Oooh, what a weird and interesting one. To me it smells like something edible and savoury with a hint of soap. This must be the most twisted description ever haha. LLP has something from Dove perfume, spices and then a bit of the vanilla. The vanilla isn't prominent to me, but without it, this would be an ordinary fresh scent. I decided to try it out as from time to time I like fresh, vetiver scents, leaning masculine. I think a man can easily pull this off, it's a unisex scent. It's sharp with a bit of sweetness to it. I don't have anything like this in my collection, blind bought it based on the reviews below as curiosity won. I wouldn't say it's a safe blind buy, especially if you're more gourmand and like pastry like scents, this one isn't like it so don't let the vanilla deceive you.

mirrorghost

wow this one is so pretty. it starts with vanilla, tonka, pink pepper and bay leaf. the almond and jasmine get stronger as time goes on. i don't find it very masculine as others have said, it has a floral sweetness, at least on my skin. it's a really lovely aromatic vanilla/almond with jasmine. i personally don't get a ton of patchouli in this, though later on it does get less floral but remains sweet with almond/tonka/heliotrope. gorgeous perfume.

pheeatrixkiddo

This perfume is a spell! A wonderful vanilla for people who aren’t fond of sticky sweet vanilla. It’s earthy, spicy, and a little dirty, a little witchy (the bay elevates it to something magical, imho) and a little mysterious all at once. Like wandering into a dark green garden at dusk. Some vanillas are like wandering into an episode of the Great British Bake Off and I think that’s wonderful for those who want to smell like a delicious cupcake but that vibe isn’t for me, personally. I’m dirty & spicy vanilla all the way, and Lalique does that wonderfully. It’s esoteric and sensual but still, you know, approachable and lovely.

The bottle is beautiful, the juice is beautiful, the scent trail is intoxicating on both skin and clothing alike. It absolutely smells, performs, and looks way more expensive than it is. On my skin, I can still smell a gentle trail of it twelve hours after applying and it’s still just as pretty as it was when freshly sprayed. I haven’t smelled the original formation so this review is for the newer bottle, but it’s a deep deep love for me.

hayleilei

woah. I hoped for bay leaf and vanilla (favourite flavourings of mine for rice pudding and coffee) and instead got relentless, chemical jasmine, stuffy powdery musk, and a headache. definitely try before you by!

lynnie131

Discovered this years ago in a Dufry shop, tried it on, got on my flight, and couldn’t stop smelling it. I had to get it, cannot believe how cheap it is. It’s a vanilla sandalwood bomb. Probably the most complimented scent I own. This will be with you the next morning. I feel it’s best in cool to cold weather due to it being so strong. I always have a spare bottle put away, in fear I won’t be able to get it anymore. Also note the juice gets very dark, and the darker it is the stronger the vanilla.

This perfume was a love at first sniff! Absolutely amazing vanilla perfume for any age! Bought extra bottles for the females in the family, they loved it too. Vanilla is surrounded with the bay leaf, which makes it smell very classic and expensive.

Rpscil11

Blind buy success. Beautiful and easy to wear without being basic. I become nose blind after a couple of hours, but I get compliments several hours later.

Mariamaija Amélie

After somewhat dismissing this perfume for some months as something not so noticeable, but simply okay, I have changed my mind: it is truly LOVELY. Have been wearing it all day today and the gorgeousness of this can not be denied. The roundness of the almond, vanilla and tonka bean and sandalwood mixed with pepper and patchouli is brilliant and makes sure it has some... "kick" to it :) I had to reapply a few times but enjoyed it every time. From opening to finish - I just love wearing it. Unisex maybe, but leaning feminine on my skin.

dismalharmony

I like it! I was a little worried with the initial spray - perhaps it was the bay leaf lending it a sort of funky undertone. That quickly passes though, and leaves behind a lovely, vanilla-centric, lightly powdery fragrance with a bit of an edge. Really surprised so many people rated it as unisex - this is undoubtedly feminine to me. It reminds me of something my mom had back in the 00s - I wore it around her and she asked what I was wearing, though it turns out this wasn’t what she had back then. Unfortunately the longevity is middling at best on me - 4 hours and it’s gone. That and the strange note in the beginning are my only complaints - it’s lovely otherwise, and with such a great price, I’d recommend it!

Edit: On my second wear, I’m enjoying that unusual opening note much more — pretty sure it’s the bay adding a unique aromatic touch. I’m also getting a kick of pepper that I did not detect on the first wear. It’s lovely!

Edit #2: On my third wear it turned really medicinal on me and I had to scrub it. Wtf?

mevans

I like this one, starting with the bottle. It's a bit awkward to hold while spraying but it's really beautiful. I don't consider it unisex. There's a unique note in the bay leaf and a bit of spice and some green, but I don't equate those immediately with men's scents. And it's also sweet and vanillic in a classy way. I consider it feminine. It's warm and creamy and cozy like any good vanilla scent has the potential to be and this one delivers. It's not gourmand, there is an element of the edible in it but it's more a savory-sweet.

Duskfall

This is certainly unique and it performs well. Unfortunately on me the bay totally takes over and with pink pepper it creates an effect that resembles slightly sweaty body odor. I wish I'd get more vanilla. Pass.

Sponspon

What a beauty! Unisex aromatic vanilla with a ton of character. The bay leaf gives it a lovely green twist.

Claire brad

A unisex fragrance imo and a great fragrance for the price, gives me similar vibes to nishane ani

SheTurtle

Total impulse blind buy several years ago. Pleasantly surprised at how grown up this fragrance is.

Whereas a lot of contemporary perfumes are of the screeching soprano variety, this is is seasoned contralto. It does not shriek. It does not whimper. This is a fragrance that announces itself confidently, but gets noticed for its uniqueness rather than the volume of its screech. This is an assured fragrance.

LSAUG

I blind bought this perfume (even though I said no more bottles LOL!) because I only have 4 true vanilla perfumes in my collection and those are Provanilla by Providence Perfume company and that has been discontinued and I only have 1/2 my small roller ball left. Dark is Night by Henry Rose and Queens and Monsters by Henry Rose and Casmir by Chopard (just purchased). Vanilla perfumes and I don't get along many times. To me many of them smell either like cake batter or play dough or lets be honest boring, many vanilla's I have tried that I thought were realistic smelling I may as well gone to my spice rack got my vanilla extract out and perfumed myself w/ that. Anyway, I find this perfume to be very interesting, it is not a typical vanilla perfume at all. This opens w/ a mentholated sigh almost, that is very green, almost minty like. That quickly fades but still remains in the background as the perfume develops. Then it becomes powdery almond, heliotrope w/ vanilla mixing in. The green bay leaf doesn't leave. This perfume to me smell like you took Dior's Hypnotic Poison (which I find to generic, my sister loves it) and it was mixed w/ a good quality bay rum of some sort. This does read a little bit more feminine to my nose but I think a man could pull this one off just like I think Dark as Night from Henry Rose is a bit more unisex. This vanilla has character and is interesting which I like and I am glad I have it in my collection. The bottle is also a beauty, heavy glass.

I also own Shakti by Gather perfumes which was discussed in the vanilla talk article but I wouldn't call that a vanilla perfume. To me it is all about the cedar moss, wood, blood orange, spices and ylang. The vanilla is more of a nuance at least to my nose. My husband says the same thing.
I'm back again w/ another thought LOL. If you like Henry Rose's Queens and Monsters and their Dark is Night, I think you will like this perfume as well. They don't smell the same but they are both green type of vanilla's. And they both have a lot of character and interest. I also own a small travel size of Modern Muse Nuit but that one while having vanilla to my nose is more about the woods, chamomile, and tonka bean. Some people think it is a vanilla scent.

breathless

A synthetic suffocating mess in which only vanilla and patchuli survive like they have gone bad as if they were left out of freedge.

Nil3

OK, it’s official:
When I see almond and heliotrope , The usual combo,….it’s an EPIC MEH.

Sure , it’s cozy and all of the below me written …
it’s a cozy Meh.

bel.gravia

Green, aromatic, fresh spicy vanilla! I had Le Parfum on my radar for years.... I should have tried it earlier. It is one of those easily recognizable, addictive perfumes. So unique you will always want to have a bottle (so gorgeous too). I couldn't tell for whom this is catered, who would love this. Its unisex, with vanilla which is not sweet (wow how is that possible), with greenness which is not too cologne like, with freshness which is not like out of the shower... Literally, this perfume is so hard to categorize. You either love it or hate it, that's all I guess. I happen to love it. This strong, assertive, boss woman perfume. Absolutely a masterpiece of a creation.

LaContessina

A precious, underrated gem as many other Laliques.
I confess i bought it primarily for the gorgeous bottle and presentation, the square, bold, solid crystal block adorned with a black cap and those tiny lovely red silk tassels... (all of this for less than 50 euros/100ml).
The fragrance is a spicy vanilla, warm, verging on a balsamic oriental.
It starts off with a boozy blast (similar to SDV) and then transforms into a cozy, powdery natural vanilla (not a sweet nor gourmand one), supported in the base by green leaves like fir, and balsamic resins. I barely can detect the flowers.
It's warm and hugging like a cashmere blanket.
Very comforting, for winter / cold days.
Appropriate for office wear, it will not overpower anyone but inded will keep you good company through the day.
A keeper and a must have if you love a well executed vanilla.
Dominique Ropion never disappoints!

Saj_Shae

FYI, for anyone that shops on fragrancenet and sees the 50ml listed with the older 'Lalique' bottle in the vintage box DO NOT purchase it unless you're okay with receiving the newer formulation. I purchased in hopes that they'd send what the picture is for but they didn't.

mschnabel666

Gemini Moon- This is nothing like Eau de missions cologne. That one is very very foodie cake vanilla, and this Le Parfum has the pine/green and veers toward unisex vanilla rather than foodie.

Charess

Green, balsamic vanilla. It's too masculine for my taste, but it smells good nonetheless.
I mostly get a dry, almost bitter tonka, with creamy vanilla and fresh green notes. It's also a bit peppery. It's not sweet at all. In the drydown, the vanilla gets a bit more pronounced.
Sillage and longevity are good!

Fati.km

It's a hug in bottle 🧡

Palmer Eldritch

What an intriguing, modern & masculine vanilla scent.

Lalique Le Parfum opens up green, peppery. I have never smelled bay leaf, but to put it briefly it smells very aromatic and a note you'd find common in sophisticated, masculine fragrances. The top notes slowly settle into a soft almond & vanilla, yes its boozy but not as much as 'Want' by Dsquared2 for example.
The dry-down on my skin is powdery, vanillery-sweet tonka, with the bay leaf still lingering in the background. The sandalwood gives it a creamy, woodsy touch.

This is not a gourmand, toothachingly sweet perfume...Le Parfum is cool, classy, spicy with an intense masculine edge. Easily a his & hers kind of fragrance. I 100% believe Lalique missed a huge opportunity by not marketing this towards men too.
Verdict: Get it if you love masculine vanillas. A gem.

wasifrezawr

Dominique Ropion and Lalique, 2 big names in perfumery coming up with 1 solid vanilla.

My Take:

This starts off with a strange bay leaf note giving it a vegetal thing in the opening. In a matter of minutes, a beautiful fluffy cloud of vanilla starts to emerge oscillating with a nutty marzipan ish thing due to the type of heliotrope used in this. As time evolves, the tonka takes over alongside the vanilla in the very dry down, lasting for around 7-8hrs on the skin!

If you're into fragrances like Guerlain SDV, Indult Tihota, Eau de mission, AC Cashmeran, Eau Duelle by Diptyque, or just any authentic smelling vanilla, you’ll love this one!

I love wearing this! Some gourmand fragrances tend to smell more juvenile, this definitely is not one of them- it smells sophisticated and borderline unisex!

gtabasso

tonka forward with an herbal leaning from the bay, creaminess of heliotrope and sandalwood, no pepper at all, not sweet, an intimate skin scent in the drydown like cashmeran; liked the top more than the base

StinkyTinky

Beautiful. This epic bay leaf note that dominates the reviews…I’ve gotta say it’s incredibly subdued to my nose. The sandalwood, tonka bean, I’m getting dior addict vibes without the dry white floral. A creamy perfumed vanilla, similar to satine by Lalique. I can also see the comparisons to Jimmy Choo. This is a beautiful, cozy year round affordable option. The notes mingle in unison and appear to be all equal players.
While I do think this is digestible on a cool summer evening, in fall it will shine.
Excited I took the plunge.

larqui

Boozy spicy vanilla and bay leaf. Not something you expect.

Now this isn't for the faint of heart, and you have to tame it to wear it, and for many it would probably still not work, but I really like it. It's a work of pure genius in a way the scent unfolds. It likes warmer weather and humidity, I feel, with the first opening blast of spice it heats up the air around the wearer and then instantly cools down into almost mint-like freshness of bayleaf and sharp bite of hard peppery liquor. And so it stays, cooling and reliable, like a silver chainmail, until the gorgeous velvety dry down settles in — strong, sensual and rich vanilla.

It's powerful and beautiful, but do try before you buy.

Dissolved_Mind

I received a bottle of Lalique Le Parfum from one of the wonderful Fragrantica users as a gift. I have to say, I usually don't like gourmands. I'm a light white floral type of person. The first time I sniffed Lalique, I thought "nooo this is weird." However, I didn't give up and kept sampling it because I read a lot of people changed their opinion about this frag over time. And, surprisingly, my opinion slowly changed too! I just keep coming back to my bottle. To me, this perfume is all vanilla. Sophisticated, deep but not sweet. Vanilla is the only note I get besides the bay leaf in the opening that does come off a bit weird at first, but on my skin it thankfully disappears after twenty minutes.

Ellsa

So happy I tried this before! Extremely heavy and overwhelming, not something I want to smell again and especially not on my skin. Definitely must test this before!

nua

Well...where do I begin? I blind bought this one based on the reviews. I LOVE the opening, which is a herbal/medicinal vanilla scent. I just wish this stayed around a bit longer!! It quickly moves on to the next stage which kinda reminds me of Eternity by Calvin Klein (I happen to like this one too). However, the scent then becomes something very weird. I get heavy musk in there and not the pleasant type, more like an animalic one. Not a fan unfortunately. :( This will be a layering perfume for me, where I can tone down the musky tone. It's a pity, as I really wanted to like this one. Be warned, it's defo not a safe blind buy!

EDIT: it's 28/03/2023 now and I've taken this perfume out of my dark drawer thinking of getting rid of it. Haven't used it due to the stuff I mentioned above. BUT! The juice has darkened a little due to the vanilla in it. It's macerated and now I think I can wear this!! The bay leaf note which was so prominent has definitely toned down now giving space to the other notes to come through...the stink has gone!! Let's see if this can get any better going forward, but nevertheless it's a good start. ;)

forêt

I do not understand the violent dislike expressed in some of these reviews! This is a very wholesome vanilla fragrance whose other elements are subtle- at least to my nose and skin. I now have three fragrances that smell like this- Cuir De Nuit, Mercedes Club Black and now this. All three of them are indebted to Spiritueuse Double Vanille although I don’t think any are dupes per se. There are people here winging about the bay leaf note... to me I can barely smell it. I think Lalique did a fantastic job of subtly framing the boozy vanilla they were going after with other fragrant notes. Vanilla is bizarre- there are aspects that can go wrong! For me, this newish fragrance called Vanilla Woods goes wrong and it makes me sad. Maybe it’s my skin or just the craziness of perfumery. Then there is Tihota which for me is too rich and directly dessert-like to be the perfect vanilla it is touted to be. So I love these four vanilla fragrances- SDV, MCB, CDN and this, LLP!

BERENGARIA

A Gorgeous Oriental Vanilla !!!
A Lovely Balsamic Vanilla (not a sugary sweet vanilla)
A Fragrance for a Sophisticated Lady.
A perfectly safe Blind buy for me.
The Creme de la Creme of Oriental Vanillas.

LeAx

This is just so perfect for me, but do - I repeat - DO TEST IT before buying. As much as I love it, it's a scent that a lot of people might dislike. In the opening, the bay leaf makes a very loud appereance. On me, it remains pretty linear. I can smell the bay leaf all the time, but as it settles it gets mixed with the heliotrope, tonka beans and a "grown up" powdery vanilla, becoming a smoky, boozy and slightly intoxicating scent with a touch of green. I just love it! But it can be too much for some people, especially because the bay leaf remains very much out there during the entire ride.

Also, reading the reviews here I have the impression that this is one of those perfumes that changes a lot depending on individual chemistry. Another reason to test it before.

As for the performance: it lasts 6-7 hours on me, and the sillage is quite strong.

mynameismaryam

From the positive reviews, I thought this was a safe blind buy. With COVID, most of my buys have been blind. Wow, this is lovely. It's far more interesting than just a boozy vanilla. It is that, but with so much more character. A musky note floating around and, on me, a brightness on the top. I can see this getting discontinued and shooting up in price. It's amazing.

Tjsparkle

My first review after lurking for years as I could not resist commenting on this beauty. I received a sample today and immediately ordered a full bottle. It's literally me in a bottle. Striking, almost herbal opening, quickly followed by the most delicious, cuddly vanilla dry down that has had both me and my husband sniffing my wrists all day. It's all the things I love about Angel without the nausea inducing notes, mixed with my favourite Ambre Maquis. I've built up a pretty large collection now but this is going to be in the top 5. Might it even become the signature scent I've been searching for for years?!

silviyakovacheva96

I cannot stand this perfume.
I really wanted to like it. I loved Perles de Lalique so I thought after reading about the notes of this perfume, I was going to like it. I was wrong!
It smells incredibly medicinal to me blended in with oriental notes, which makes it even more nauseous. I sprayed myself and thought I had to give it time to develop, but I spent the whole day thinking how much I couldn’t wait to remove it off me. I felt that the gourmand note was very artificial and it was totally overpowered by the the Bay leaf. I love unexpected combinations but some of them are a no-no. I think it may be the combo with Jasmine as I am very picky, I couldn’t stand TM’s Alien either, it made me sick.

Belin

At first spray it really reminds me of White Soul by Ted Lapidus. But the dry down is more elegant and refined. I don't consider it unisex, but who knows what happens if I spray it on my husband ...?!

clemmy

Complex and very well balanced oriental vanilla, not too gourmand, more mysterious and not sweet. As already said it is a difficult fragrance to describe. Totally underrated, super cheap, classy, with a beautiful decanter (as always in Lalique collection) and a great nose behind that (D Ropion). Very feminine and longstanding; moderate projection. Don't miss in your collection. 3.5/5
UPDATE: After few days of wearing it, it is growing on me, is deep, sensual and I can get the bay note.Unique and majestic! 4/5

moresco_rouge

This perfume can be roughly described as green Vanilla with powdery kind of feeling.
In the opening, the mix of bay leaves and pepper give an almost minty feeling, but at the same time the vanilla is very present. In the dry down the greenness is tamer and it becomes a bit more powdery.
The first time I tried this perfume I found it odd and not a good performer. Today however I could feel wafts of it loud and clear during the day so I think I must have been nose bling to it before. In my opinion it is a really enjoyable perfume with some character.

Hunnynpink

This sent is your grandpa's aftershave. I tried to like it but all I smell is pepper, bay, powder and then vanilla. On drydown it is a little sweeter and less overpowering to my eyes and nose. Very masculine on me and for some reason makes my skin dry, red and itchy.

TexasOrangeBlossom

My husband finds the dry down to be too feminine while I find the top notes to be a bit masculine for me liking. We both adore the dry down on me so I wait patiently for top notes to settle. While we both feel it leans unisex, we aren’t convinced that the majority of men would find it to be truly unisex or masculine. At least not where we live.

ALC555

Lalique Le Parfum is a very nice fragrance for men to wear. It is not quite feminine. A masculine oriental gourmand for men. Unisex leaning on the male scale. I was afraid at first knowing that it is a femme fragrance but after reading reviews l blind bought a full bottle. It reminds me of the 90's when colognes started to evolve into sweeter blends. This is for a Golden Boy or a sweet Loverboy type of men. Imagine a very young Robert Redford or Brad Pitt. When l wear this, a lot of women come close and become very friendly and give great compliments. Some men asked me what l wear but l never told them, only to my friends. It projects a wonderful "handsome image." A must have for all men who have adventurous noses and wear whatever scents suits them (homme, femme, unisex). Absolutely nice discovery.

echurch1979

If you were to ask me a year ago to like this perfume, I would notice the powdery notes and immediately dismiss whatever I was sampling. Something about 2020 changed in my perspective. Maybe it was the ever expanding crisis in the country that begged to be soothed, someway, anyway with contemplative quiet. And the soft tones of perfumes fit the bill for some of us. Maybe I was finally open for change and experience, knocking down the proverbial walls during a time of uncertain restrictions. Or maybe it was as simple as I hadn't the right one, or maturity myself, to appreciate scent structures that were less familiar to me. Either way, this cube fell into my life, and I the wearer, all the better for it. This perfume is so light and powdery, it almost comes with a texture. This isn't Salvatore's Emozione, which bombards the nose like it was recreating a Civil War battlefield. This powder is relaxing, thoughtful and balanced. It is confident enough to round profiles with notes of bay leaf, pepper and jasmine. Powdered almond and softly floral vanilla waft endlessly about, creating the most beautiful sillage. Tonka, sandalwood and patchouli give feet to the scent, helping to carry the heart through the dry down, producing in its wake, a very impressive longevity. The spectrum of use is understatedly versatile, and would be welcome in any setting. Even in healthcare, which always poses its own myriad of challenges, this lady is amiable and adaptable. But my favorite time to wear this darling, is when I'm settling my thoughts and mind to the task of slumber. And for bedtime, the aroma is as cozy and soft as a gently-worn teddy bear. This transforms the loudness of the day, into the comfort necessary to weather the night, and stifle the tensions of the world around me.

sparklyunicorn

This is such a strange, yet unique perfume. I like to think of this as my 'spa day' perfume. There are days when I feel like pampering myself and just indulging on me. It is one that I cannot wear when I am feeling sick, or wanting to impress... it is one that I will wear on those very few and rare days when I feel like having a relaxing and indulgent day. The herbal note in this perfume lasts, and is almost menthol-like. Not sure how to explain, but it is in my opinion a good 'spa' or self-care day perfume :)

Lalunalynn

So I bought a sample based on the great reviews here. It's kind of a journey of 2 separate scents. Bayleaf one side and vanilla the other. No blend, just the two side by side.

15 minutes after I spray this on my skin it smells very similar to CK Eternity and I hate that fragrance. Its not as awful as that though. Not as harsh. It's herby and a bit peppery, which actually burns my nostrils a little if I keep sniffing. The vanilla is very faint in the background at first but becomes more prominent as it dries, and becomes warmer once the harsh bay leaf dies. But most of the journey is bayleaf/vanilla
This isnt for me as I just can't get past the Eternity smell, it lasts too long for my liking. Sad, because that dry down really is beautiful. Its actually hard to believe its the same scent, but you have to wait a couple of hours for the bay to disapate to fully enjoy that soft, leathery, smokey vanilla, which is divine. If I could cut straight to that it would be a keeper. Sadly I can't so I'm glad I only bought a sample.

Fast forward a week and oddly I keep going back to this and I'm finding that I actually can live with the CK Eternity vibe. I'm really starting to like this perfume. But it is all about the dry down

elegantshnozzie

I really wanted to like this but it is very linear and I think that is whats holding me back. It is a boozy, smokey, powdery vanilla that could definitely be a MM spinoff. I see the appeal, and it could be the perfect fit for someone else but this just does not feel like "me".

Selling my bottle for best offer if interested! Message me :)

Joani_Cheddar

Like vs. Love - This could easily be one of my fan-van fragrances (fantastic vanilla) but the longevity is not there. It literally lasts 20 minutes. This fragrance is for a quick run to the gas station for a pop or for your ride to work in a non-fragrance office environment. This scent rides on the powder train as the caboose - i smell more vanilla than powder and more spice than sweetness- I totally love ---wait what was I talking about the scent is gone already. Here is a tip, mix with Aquolina Pink Sugar (yeah, i said it) and it will last forever and you will receive major compliments (this is not a fable).

agate.ne

It smells superb! Always love me some floral scent with powdery notes, woods, or vanilla. This frag totally delivers me all the pleasantness and elegance of mature women. It's good for colder weather I imagine.

I always skip lalique because I am not piqued enough to try it. One time though, I bought the miniature for my sister's birthday present and I found out this beautiful gem. I ordered another bottle for me right away.

The scent is powdery enough without overbearing the floral. It has that vanilla and wood notes that I like. The longetivity is to be applaud for too considering the price..

Markellam92

On me it smells like a very spicy powdery vanilla but it stays pretty close to skin maybe it will have better performance on clothes. Over all it is a nice perfume interesting for a Vanilla perfume

“Herbal Vanilla Candy Canes”

Ropion is one of the best. Lalique Le Parfum is a beast mode gorgeous adult vanilla oriental. One of my top 10 favorites of my entire collection. It’s hard to describe, but as you’ve worn it and grown accustomed to it you might notice it smells like “herbal vanilla candy canes.” It starts off highly herbal (bay leaf) and goes through various stages before the candy cane vanilla dry down. I’d call this a delicious chilly vanilla. There’s nothing like it. Bottle is gorgeous, scent is amazing, longevity A+, and it’s inexpensive online. I would say it’s not a safe blind buy though; because it’s unusual and might not be what you’re expecting of a “vanilla frag,” depends on what you’re familiar with.

Madyana

How I love this cube!
I remember when sometime in the 2000s this was released.
A friend of mine had this beauty and how we did an analysis between this and my dear Hypnotic Poison. This was the only fragrance on the market at the time for which I even considered exchanging my mysterious toxin. I couldn’t even imagine holding two different scents. Hypnotic Poison was a very jealous scent at the time I think!

Now, when the original Hypnotic Poison is buried so there is no market forces or redesigns what can get between me and this Lalique! I always have a spare bottle for this sure. Hahaa
For me, Lalique Le Parfym is pure, realistic vanilla with a beautiful herbal twist what prevent it came boredom or nauseous. I realize that this is not everyone's cup of tea, but even after 15 years every time this surprises me that how much I like this. This is My Lalique.

Martinello

I bought it for my wife and love it, she likes it too. I love it so much that I tried it on myself and it's good for me too. If I smell it up close on myself I get a terre d'hermes vibe. It turns out me and everyone around me love Ropion's creations. I have Costume national homme, my wife has this one and I bought my mom Kenzo jungle which I know she loves.

I loooove this one and it's good on a man too.

PlanetGrl

I am partial to Ropion's formulas. Lalique le Parfum has got me sniffing my wrist over and over, it is so intoxicating. The bay under the vanilla is a match made in heaven. I will be wearing this fragrance this entire fall season, I'm sure of it. This was a blind buy that I'm completely happy with.

hexed

First try, this is a total knock-out. I got almost a little tense after spraying it once and decided to lay down and wait a while, it wasn't sickening just somehow overwhelming at first.
There's something painfully nostalgic about this, I think there's a subconscious connection to some Lutens or other niche fragrance I fell in love with as a teenager... something that at the time felt permanently unattainable and became ten times more lovely and tempting because of it. Now I have that same magic here and can't pinpoint it. Oh well.
Spicy, voluminous, intense vanilla with a cooling sensation piercing through it. The shape of it I imagine as a cloud of powdered sugar.

Edit:
Fairly linear, drydown is incredibly seductive. Holds on well. I must say it would take a lot of boldness for me to try and wear this in warmer weather. Quite powerful, at least in the Nordic climate.

seamagik

Mtts, I agree. This does remind me of Mon Guerlain. I put both in the same aromatic vanilla family in my collection.

I'm not a big vanilla fan. I like this this for its oddness. Very airy and aromatic. Lightly spiced. Lovely year round.

igaczynienik

Such a lovely scent but there is no lasting power whatsoever :( Stunning bottle as well! It smells like a mixture of raw vanilla and bay leaf, light scent perfect for the summer time

PerfumeAddictJo1177

I blind bought this, despite the mixed reviews. I actually quite like this! On first spray, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it wasn't offensive or heavy in any way. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised! Not sure why everyone gets so much of the west Indian bay, I think it smells more like a spicy vanilla. I could see this being an easy reach, as it sits light on my skin (as long as I don't over spray), and can easily be just an everyday fragrance. Also, my husband hasn't said anything negative, so that's a good sign! Usually if he doesn't like something, he is not shy to tell me right away LOL

To me, this is a very sensual, lightly spiced, slightly powdery sweet vanilla. Something I would probably spray on to go out and run errands, or maybe even an evening out to dinner with my husband. I could potentially be a love, as the more I smell it, the more I like it!

middle25

This was a blind buy and I'm not sure where I stand on it. For me, the opening was great for about 5 seconds and then the bay leaf was front and center with some pink pepper. I love vanilla and tonka perfumes but I don't get much of either in this at this point (from beginning to about hour 4) or it's so unsweet, I don't recognize it. It does smell classy though, definitely mature. I'm hoping further in, since it is supposed to last so long, that the vanilla, tonka bean, heliotrope and almond will make an appearance. That is a perfume I would love.

Okay, finally the vanilla and tonka bean have shown up a bit with a powdery finish. I still think the bay leaf is the star of this show but I don't think that's what I wanted.

Update: Using this more often, the bay leaf has settled in and down and it's a beautiful perfume, one I use often. I also don't consider not liking or pointing out a note in a perfume as whining. Everybody is entitled to their opinions on perfume here.

marialena888m

I tried this perfume in my 20s and didn’t like it, I thought it smelled too ‘mature’. I’m in my mid 30s now and found a half empty bottle of this in my late mother’s stash...and I kind of like it this time around! It’s a very sensual and elegant aromatic vanilla. Warm, dry and abit peppery. Classy and smells rich. Gourmand for grown-ups. I imagine a sexy, intellectual corporate type in this. Amazing longevity (stayed after a shower), and great sillage to boot. Not really my style (I love my florals and florientals) and I wouldn’t buy, but I appreciate it!

divakitty24

~ I'm in love ~ finally a perfume that is not , I repeat not heavy in the "vanilla " department . She is a lovely mix of spice and earthy / green on me , with a slight hint of vanilla . I could wear this 24/7 and not become sick to my stomach . I'm beyond thrilled . I have hunted for a scentual with just a hint like Vera Wang's rosebud and vanilla which is great to wear in hot weather , she does not turn on me . This one here is steps up the ladder for me , and I'll stop with her . I don't need to hunt for any other this is that perfect day / night time scent . I detested this perfume the first time I tried it. I probably put too much on and the bay vanilla explosion was not working. It was a monster. I thought I had found a new tool to aid in social distancing; spray yourself in this perfume before going out. No problem.
I went back to read the reviews again and gave it one more chance. I sprayed a small amount on wrist and let it unfold. I can see that was good advice. It is behaving very differently and I am thinking I might actually like it. I’m giving it another chance. I blind bought this because I love everything Ropion does and don’t want to give up so easily.

Vanillastorm40

This is very pretty. I blind bought and I do like it. Only prob I have with it is that it's not a very unique scent. Like, I've smelled it before. I have so many vanilla perfumes, unfortunately, Lalique doesn't stand out in any way to me.

handkmommy

This perfume is a BEAST! If you spray this on your clothes it’s gonna be there for days.
As for the smell of the juice- It’s beautiful and quirky at the same time. Dries down quite vanilla that is rough around the edges. It gives it class. I would say it’s a grown up vanilla.
Definitely worth more than it’s price, I will say that.

socorrosouza

I think so. It is not gourmand or too sweet. But if you realy like a scent wear it proudly, don't waste your time smelling something you don't really like. My father loved Cabochard but didn't wear it because , at the time, Cabochard was deemed feminine. It was such a waste, he loved the smell and wanted my mother to use it, but she really hated (and do did I).

maci2222

I own too many vanilla perfumes. I bought this anyway, as it is totally different. It stands out. A very herbal opening evaporates immediately into a unique dry vanilla. It smells like a high end mall. It is definitely strong and wafts pleasingly. Perfect presentation and easy to find. A unique and worthy full bottle.

I like other vanilla, balsamic, powdery scents and also many other creations of Mr. Ropion. I also like Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay a lot, and although I knew this is a completely different type of perfume (as that one is very lightweight and fresh), I thought I might like the bay leaf note in this one too after all. I blind bought it thinking "How bad can it be?". Well... let me tell you.

This is a mature, heavy, powdery and aromatic scent that in the end could potentially be a unisex fragrance, but leans feminine. However, I don't know if it's the bay leaf in this particular combination (although I suspect it's not just that) but it makes this a strong and somewhat different scent that in many ways it's just too much, it makes it go way over the top. I can see how it can be pretty for some people as, at its core it's a very sweet, powdery, feminine fragrance. But at the same time, there's something in it that transforms this into a heavy, nauseating scent that stands out quite a lot. Part of that has to do with just how strong it is. If you do get it, you should go very lightly and spray only the tiniest bit and see if you can get used to it. After that, it might grow on you, I can see how this is possible. But you shouldn't count on it.

After getting it I realized I had smelled it in the past on someone else and to be honest, I didn't like it on them either. It is unique enough that I remembered though. It can be someone's signature scent easily. Personally, I can recognize it's high quality and well made, and you can find it for a very affordable price online but still, it's not a safe blind buy. If you're very young or only used to more conventional, lighter, modern scents I'd say you shouldn't even bother.

JolieSucre

Oh wow. What an understated and strange perfume. Typically Lalique.

Firstly, has anyone else noticed the beautiful sculpture on top of the lid? It's a glass face with Medusa-like 'hair' made of four sea horse-like creatures. Simply beautiful, a great touch and brings the bottle to a whole new different level. Lalique perfumes are worth purchasing for the bottle alone!

This fragrance is a sleeping beauty. I completely agree with the review below that said the aroma becomes stronger after a while - wow. It's actually Sleeping Beauty waking up as Cinderella, and then going through the rags-to-riches transformation. Typically Lalique, to blow your mind with their concoctions.

It opens up with a mediciney smell of green spiciness, most likely the bay leaf. If you sniffed the cap or the atomiser you wouldn't be able to tell what's inside - it's dry, slightly bitter spiciness and bay leaf extract.

Then it slowly warms up and becomes stronger, a full symphony of notes perfectly blended. Then fully awakens to mildly sweet tonka beans and vanilla, blended with a gorgeous, creamy powdered ... banana. Yes, that's what I can feel, not the synthetic fake banana scent on the market, but the real, authentic feeling of what a genuine banana smells like. Like a warm banana pie straight out of the oven. Wow. How did they do this?

When I saw the leaf photo in the notes description I thought it was a banana leaf. This has nothing green or spicy after the first spritz, it becomes and stays a warm and cozy banana powdered with expensive Bourbon vanilla (without sugar!).

This would be a man magnet for a French count, a prince or someone who prefers aroma and understatement to sugar nose punches. It's 'sweet' and sexy but doesn't have the loudness or the screech of sugar bombs. One caveat from my side would be that unfortunately, notwithstanding the beauty and warmth of the natural vanilla, I would have preferred it sliiiightly sweeter, maybe with a bit of honey or just a sweeter vanilla.

It does project but I don't find it particularly strong. I have yet to see how others react to it, have not yet worn this on any occasion as my social calendar has been pretty empty given the ongoing situation. Let's see what happens - I shall get back and report.

EDIT: A few days after using this fragrance in all possible ways, I can honestly say that I don't like it. Everything I wrote here stands valid, with one addition - the beautiful vanilla develops on my skin very similar to Zadig& Voltaire's For Her's 'milky' sandalwood/incense tinge, and that is a scent I strongly dislike.

hfigures

Three sprays. It's peppery vanilla and jasmine that's sweet and powdery that lasts and lasts. It's feminine and classy. It's sexy without trying too hard.

i smell leather, vanilla, warm..

Ok, I have to stop blind buying perfumes.
And I just removed my review from earlier today.
At first, I thought this was absolutely lovely. But when I first sprayed it, it was much lighter and softer. Very quickly it becomes stronger and stronger.
I agree with someone who said it feels like cough medicine. Eventually it is rounded off, but it takes time.
It is nice, but unfortunately too strong for me. I will have to sell it or give it away. Lesson learned??? I don’t know...
I will give this a like, not a dislike. But I would not say that it is a safe blind buy!

Next day: hmm... and today it is much nicer again, and suddenly not so strong...?????
I would not be surpriced if it will end with a ”love” after all. Interesting, this process of our senses...

And an hour later: Today I’m topping it up with a little more lightweight fragrance: 100 Bon, Carvi & Jardin de Figuier (all natural ingredienses, I’m told.). Together, it becomes an interesting, romantic kind of fragrance like one of a scented candle. That’s my thoughts and feelings of today.

And finally, late evening, after a long shower and hairwash, and then reapplying the fragrance. Lying in my bed at the balcony to get to sleep - yes, it IS a love. What do you know...hah. 😏

bintTapputi

This is absolutely lovely. A new immediate "dumb reach" for me. Very sweet, very vanilla forward, it's classy and sexy but sort of in a 90s manner, which gives it this nostalgic vintage-esque vibe. I think it's quite fun and for the price you'd be mad not to procure yourself a bottle of it. 8/10

Ashlowery14

I wanted to love this but the bay leaf totally overpowers this in my opinion. It smells like bay leaf, some pepper too and then powdery vanilla on my skin. Longevity was moderate, lasted around 4 hours on my skin, but the bay leaf scent was so off putting to me, I had to sell this one.

TexasOrangeBlossom

Do you know those fragrances that confuse your senses so much that you immediately dismiss them, believing you will never wear them no matter how many reviewers swear it’s lovely? Well, that was Lalique Le Parfum for me. It was a blind buy based on YouTube reviews. After researching on Fragrantica, I knew it would be different because of the bay leaf, but I love all the other notes so I wasn’t afraid of that top note. It arrived when the weather was still cool. I figured it was good timing. It was an instant dislike. I couldn’t get past the bay leaf. I made my husband try it. I couldn’t even stand it on him. So, in the drawer it went. Fast forward....I read that someone enjoyed it in the heat and decided to give it another try. Somehow it is different to me now. Maybe the perfume bloomed a bit with time. Maybe it was too freshly made when I first got it. Maybe once I let out those first sprays it settled. Maybe my nose changed (I did have surgery last September). Either way, the bay note is completely acceptable to me now. It’s even gotten me compliments. Once again, another lesson in not giving up on a fragrance too soon.

Etoile82

Been intrigued by this one for quite a while and finally got my hands on a sample.

Opens quite spicy and green. Can see why some call it medicinal. It's unusual, yes, though not entirely unpleasant. Agree with the "indian spice cabinet" comment in an earlier review. Half an hour in, it smells like Cologne of the Missions sprayed on the aforementioned wooden cabinet + a powdery note.

I can't say it's particularly sexy to my nose. Sophisticated and exotic are probably more appropriate. Unisex, for the 30+ crowd.

i love this perfume... the drydown remind me with kenzo amour

I like this more and more as it develops. It's an elegant, simple blend of vanilla, powder and musk on me. Not too strong but I didn't overspray it. This smells like a classy, easy going lady. I'm very impressed and it's been offered at a great price lately.

Perfumeaddict777

Isn't it strange how you can dislike a perfume , put it away, have a craving months down the road and suddenly love the scent! I did a blind swap for this about 7 months ago and thought it had something off that I didn't like so I was disappointed and put it away. Now I've been craving sweet, boozy, spicy, thick vanilla and I pulled this out and now I love it! It has a slight green freshness mixed with a sweet vanilla. The dry down is my favorite! Boozy, sweet, airy and still thick vanilla. It wears on me like a soft shawl and I can smell it all day. When I move around people notice ..even after 12 hours of work in a Resturant. It's unique and beautiful. I'm picky about my vanilla. I don't like vanilla body spray like Victoria secret . I don't like vanilla feilds. This though is so different and delicious. Great sillage and amazing longevity. Even though it's 85 degrees out today this is still very wearable in hot sunny weather. There is a slight breeze and the breeze moves the perfume makes it swirl around me that travel in the air and it smells beautiful and it's not heavy. Definate compliment getter

This perfume is fab!!! I blind bought it--hesitantly, because of the mixed reviews--but I am a vanilla fiend, and I enjoy quite a few of Dominique Ropion's other scents, so I decided to take the plunge.

In honesty, I smell the pepper much more prominently than the bay!! (Although it is there for about five minutes immediately after spraying.) It's a wonderfully "deep" scent because of the spices, and *almost* a tobacco kind of vibe (in my opinion).

I smell the almond, heliotrope, and tonka very prominently too, although vanilla is definitely the star. Five hours in, and the (earthy) patchouli has really come out, the vanilla has mellowed, and the almond is still there. Much more a skin scent by this time, and very pleasant.

I am so happy I bought this! This perfume is perfect to me. :) ***UPDATE: I love it so much that I just bought a back-up bottle, so that I will never run out!!***

PS: The bottle really is as lovely as other reviews have mentioned!

*****Awesome Tip*****
Spray the ends of your hair with this! I sprayed nearly 12 hours ago, and it still smells as bright and amazing as when I first sprayed it! No word of a lie, I keep getting distracted because I am like "what is that amazing smell??! Oh wow, it's me!!!" :D

I don’t know if I can speak for many other fragrance collectors, but here’s my thing about collecting: much of the fun in owning all of these bottles is the notion of having a vast array of options. Sure, there are some genres that I lean into more heavily than others, but ultimately I feel like I am building a library that covers an entire spectrum of olfactory experiences. There are a few parts of the spectrum I may intentionally skip over here and there, but I can’t expect myself to love it all. It’s a similar philosophy by which a music lover might build a record collection.

Lalique’s Le Parfum occupies a tiny sliver of this spectrum that I previously could not have imagined even existing. Isn’t It such a treat when a work of art expands your perception of what is possible? Le Parfum is lovely - an ever evolving medley that almost plays out like a narrative, and one that you want to pay close attention to lest you miss the enchantment of any of its impending twists and turns. Stranger than dreams, but as enjoyable as the best of them.

Funnily enough, I never would have imagined lauding this perfume so passionately the first few times I tried to wear it. That bay leaf everyone keeps bringing up was the only thing I could smell all the way through those times. I felt like I was a walking bowl of appallingly inedible soup. But this one takes time to develop, and you may still not understand it after a few wears. Those who keep trying will be rewarded. Or die trying if it’s just not their thing.

If Le Parfum is a record in my collection, it is definitely "His N Hers" by Pulp - an unforeseeable, somewhat androgynous gem I discovered long after Pulp’s heyday that ended up blowing my world apart in the best of ways.

Cheers to new discoveries and pleasant surprises.

The Indian Bay Leaf makes this powdery vanilla delight something special.
I love it.
Gorgeous..from bottle to juice.

I was a bit hesitant to buy this blindly because of the very mixed reviews that especially pointed out the strong opening note of bay leaf.

To be honest, it's really not that scary.

The almost green bay leaf mixes beautifully with a good amount of vanilla and if one thinks it's a bit "wild", it rather quickly tames down to a calm, comforting vanilla with a beautiful green twist that makes the perfume stand out as a whole from other vanilla based perfumes. I wouldn't mind the initial bay Leaf "blast" to last longer, since it makes the vanilla smell very interesting "green" and raw - not to be mistaking by fresh, this fragrance is in no way fresh.

Lalique Le Parfum is a safe buy for vanilla lovers who wants something a bit more green oriental and with some depth to it in comparison to the candy-kind-of-vanilla fragrances out there.

The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and the details alone could have me fooled if someone asked me to guess the price of this perfume.

All in all a very beautiful fragrance and a strong like for me.

Supersmelle

The Short: Do not blind buy. Unique scent.

The Long: Very vanilla almond tonka bean with a loud high note of bay (green). It is pretty but, angular. The green note distracts from the calm and cozy vanilla-almond-tonka.

Dry down took a LONG time(over an hour). Scent lasts all day 12+ hours. It projects like a beast. Sample it first.

It is a pleasant scent but, not something I find myself wanting to wear right now. I am going to save it for the winter and see how I feel about it.

comingtobe

It transforms into a wonderful smell of some heavenly gingerbread on my hair.
Still, alas, Lalique Le Parfum is not "mine", don't know how to describe it, maybe, it doesn't suit my personality. I blind bought it and it was a mistake. I gave it to my sister, and - ta-dam! - it is one of her faves!

ajjava

Don't be fooled by the opening, which is a bit unusual. After about 20 minutes, this has me looking around the room, trying to identify what smells so good. OHHHH, it's me! This is one that shines when you've NOT got your nose buried in it. Let it drift up to your nose. Wonderful.

fayedomnia

A green tonka-vanilla! needs a very specific taste to appreciate it. it is like Feve delicieuse dior with tons of green bay leaf added. the greenness fades a little in the dry down and you are left with interesting dry tonka/vanilla skin scent. I don't love it but I like its uniqueness. it could be a good scent paired with a suit in a formal situation. perfectly unisex too.

GiBaby

I blind bought this fragrance and oh my!! This is a lovely scent, especially as it dries down. It’s a mature take on vanilla but not a granny like mature. I find this to be a unique scent. It opens up almost medicinal because of the bay leaf note but this is truly a masterpiece in my opinion. Did i mention how stunning the bottle is? It’s worth buying for the bottle alone! It’s amazing quality! I personally recommend this fragrance for anyone who doesn’t want to smell ordinary and can appreciate unique blends.

Seaworthy

I absolutely love the bottle, heavy, quality is typical of what one can expect from a Lalique fragrance bottle, beautiful. I have the new formulation and it is a huge disappointment to me. I love the bay leaf note at the top! I love the warmth of the vanilla and the balsamic is prominent to me. However the longevity and sillage is practically non existent. I sprayed heavily yesterday morning and it was a skin scent to my nose within 30 mins. I would love to smell the older version as the scent is fantastic and to me unisex, but very disappointing performance.

Update: July 2020
Hot weather really has improved the performance of this fragrance for me! Bay leaf is very evident and beautiful.

tonkabeannie

A big no from me! I had such high hopes for this fragrance! But alas, it was not up to par. The bay leaf was the overarching note that stood out above all! I literally could not smell anything else....but the bay leaf! I smelt like I had rolled around in an herbal spice cabinet.
