Devotion just doesn’t hold a candle to other candied lemon/ vanilla scents that I already own.
Nishane Ani, L de Lempicka, and Miel & Citron from L’Occitane all share a certain essential common accord, and all smell **much** better quality than Devotion. Yes, even the L’Occitane.
It’s kind of insulting how little effort was made to make something new and unique and not even good quality. Fades out to a dry down to something like a home fragrance much too quickly.
Sampled at Sephora several times. Never going near it again.

Kaylovely

Better than Love, Sintra and it’s making a rumble rumble with Bake. Soooooo good! I would get this and bake vs getting all 3-4. Oh, just saw the Lira comparison.. it’s way better but Lira seems to be for an older woman who’s on a date night. You just want to be soft and sweet. Older as in 30+ Devotion seems to hit more of the 25+ mark. I like Bake over Unknown so no comps there. <3

Joani_Cheddar

I own and I tolerate - this is not a love for me. I love everything it is compared to but I do not love this fragrance. I'm pretty sure that I'm a borderline " don't like" - I def have to be in the mood. It has a weird twang to my nose. I wear it because it is appealing to others, sweet, and on occasion I may nibble my arm. This is iffy for me, Im not a huge fan ...Im only a fan when they are in the playoffs.

mariandreasimba

I don't get the hate for this fragrance, this is a beautiful scent, sweet lemon, but with a strong deep rich rum-vanilla in the background, this is my absolute favorite.

FumeL'ver

I smelled a tester recently and it instantly reminded me of something very familiar I've owned so I checked my list of the ones I've had and low and behold it reminded me of a lemon version of Hanai Mori's 1996 perfume of the same name and a tad of Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon Vanilla. I'm a lover of vanilla and it's a nice perfume but not sure I'd get it only because it reminds of something I've already had and may get again.

ps371213

absolutely hate the fact that i tried this one out on a no-buy. it is the perfect gourmand perfume, all the phases are perfect. reminds of a panettone or a similar cake. good performance. cresp’s perfumes for me are usually either a hit or a miss, and this one’s definitely a hit.

DTreadaway

Orange creamsicle but elegant and endearing.

scentnut

I expected Devotion to be a light lemony dessert, instead I got a light powdery floral. My chemistry did not bring out the gourmand accords at all. It kept reminding me of a 90’s perfume I had and it finally dawned on me - a sister to Sun Moon and Stars. Mind you that was on me personally. Just not what I expected so not a safe blind buy IMHO.

dasha-petrovska

i tested it on my hand. then I thought someone had made a lemon cake because of the strong sweet vanilla lemon smell. And then I realized that that was Devotion. I'm in love!

SamanthaJean

This was a blind buy and instant regret for me. Far too sweet. I scrubbed it off as soon as I could.

faunwand

The initial burst of candied lemon is heavy, but it settles down as the fragrance progresses. The notes of rum and panna cotta gradually become more pronounced, making the scent more enjoyable over time.

mister_chaz

This one smelled surprisingly "beachy" on me, in non-gourmand way. I didn't get any lemon cookies, no resemblance to Lira either. Not bad, but the summery beachy quality has surprised me.

needed_a_new_obsession

Dear Devotion,

That was a short time you sat there on my hand. 10 mknjtes maybe, before I scrubbed you off with dishwasher liquid. Which smelled way better, it was also a lemon one.

The first spray on paper had been lovely, but on my skin you immediately developed to be so cloying, that I felt like a lemon cake has dried in my skin.

Nauseating.

I appreciate the effort of creating something "gourmand refreshing", and I like the idea behind it. Try again, will you?

bogidimitrova

Lemon and vanilla scent. Lemon cupcake. I adore it.

legendjbrown

I was SO SAD when this had ZERO longevity. For the opening smell, the name, and price alone... I had such high hopes and now I am thankful I didn't buy the full size bottle that I wanted. It didn't even last 30 minutes. Sooo much potential.

robertlia

Very pretty citrus + orange blossom top that is sharp and slightly green, over a VERY sweet and gourmand base that smells like literal vanilla frosting. The opening doesn't stick around long before it becomes just sugary and milky caramel-vanilla and stays that way. I personally enjoy this but I could see it being unappealing for some, it's definitely not the most sophisticated scent out there.

This is definitely similar to Lira, but it's really extremely close to Akro Bake. Lira is less gourmand with some other notes going on, while Bake really has the same DNA as Devotion but is probably even more gourmand and doesn't have the slight green aspect in the top. I own Lira and have a sample of Bake from the Akro discovery set but Devotion is very solid I think.

I have found this lasts forever on clothes, to the point that my whole apartment smelled like Devotion for days after I sprayed it on my jacket. Really lasts long on clothes!

Make_It_Make_Scents

In the opening Devotion reminds me of an old discontinued Bath & Body Works fragrance that I used to LOVE it was called Lemon Vanilla, but Devotion is just much more perfume-y. I kind of wish the bright lemon note lasted a bit longer. It fades off into the background (not as strong as in the opening, but still very much present) as Devotion dries down into a rich yummy Amber Vanilla. The price point I'm not crazy about. It's less expensive than Lira and Akro Bake though so between the 3 I choose Devotion <3

ripgirl9000

I was hoping for Lemon Vanilla, but instead it is all Orange Amber to my nose which I personally did not care for. I wish I smelled the edible warm vanilla that others seem to pick up on. The bottle itself is beautiful. It reminds me of Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy bottle, so much so that at first I thought it was a new Juicy Couture perfume! Very Y2K. This is a sensual fragrance and heavy to my nose, so a good fall or winter scent IMO.

Khaikii13

This is so much sweet and blend with citrus ,fruity a bit.Smell like an eating caramel pudding taste .I love it.

Hussam Ray

I really like the smell but I can’t buy a bottle because it doesn’t last, especially the lemony top note, disappear in minutes and all I’m left with a vanilla sweet basic scent

The opining is the best part but it fades away quickly🙁

Eve's Perfume Kollection

When I first sprayed it, I picked up on something that smelled green. Perhaps it was the orange blossom or candied lemon notes. After it dried down, the sweetness was at the forefront! The rum, vanilla, panacotta and candied lemon created the perfect dessert symphony! I purchased a travel size on a whim at the ULTA checkout counter. OMG! I need a full size bottle because I LOVE this.

pynchbookclub

This is a lovely lemony/orange powdery vanilla gourmand. It smells like an orange-flavoured Krispy Kreme donut to me. I sprayed myself 3 times with it but I can't really smell it unless I bring my wrist to my nose. I wish it was a bit stronger, so I guess I'll experiment with how many sprays it needs!

LayersAndLayers

It's a beautiful scent. Smells like sweet, creamy lemon. Not necessarily the smell of panettone cake, but more like a lemon custard. There is a lactonic feel to it and the orange blossom is very present. I'll say that this fragrance is very unique in my experience. The opening is easily recognisable and one of a kind. As it dries down I smell the pannacotta which kind of ruins the experience for me. It smells burnt and just strange? Almost dirty. And the fragrance doesn't last long. It's a faint/moderate projector for the first hour and it becomes entirely a skin scent before the 3 hours mark. Too expensive, despite its disappointing performance. I'm really sick of beautiful scents that perform worse than body mists. I want beautiful scents that can be smelled and enjoyed.

It doesn't smell like Lira, if that's what you're wondering.

nefteliya

lemon notes in the opening remind me of lemon kolonya, or cologne, and brings back a ton of memories from my childhood of visiting peoples houses as it is something that is offered to guests upon their immediate arrival in turkey. this specific lemon feels masculine. somewhere in the middle when the lemon and the vanilla start to blend together it's a lot like L de lolita lempicka. then it becomes this yummy and warm vanilla cookie with a slight lemon glaze over it.

filipa.dg

Nice and very pleasant scent, very similar to Lira but a lot more lemon-y in the beginning which I don't enjoy so much. However, the real problem with this fragrance for me is the dry down. Smells like a plain vanilla super cheap perfume :(

Solinger

I got a free sample of this at a store and I decided to buy at least a 30 ml bottle (because it is a bit pricy). I really like it. It's sweetly/citrusy. Smells yummy. Does anyone knows a dupe for this?

Melbyface

The lemon is the same lemon in light blue. Dries down really light in the same way, but with a nice vanilla note.

SinSemilla

I tried this yesterday on paper and it reminded me of colivă / koliva / funeral cake. :(

I've smelled it before and liked it, I don't know what happened... I need to try it again on my skin.

Jemmma

It has a Deep boozy bourbon vanilla finish with a boiled candy lemon top/middle note.

Its main note is a deep slightly burned sugar fragrance which is the only thing that makes it a little interesting (- but id almost prefer a more lactonic milky vanilla with this), That is paired with a more sweet ( rather than tart) lemon cake fragrance. I like it & I will use it and keep it. It was an interesting Blind Buy - I thought Id totally love it, but its more of a Like than love.

I do think its over rated, over hyped and over priced for what it is. It lasts ok - nothing crazy 5ish hours on the skin, at 10hrs it's very very faint but still around if i push my nose to my skin.

The bottle is BEAUTIFUL and the cap feels sturdy and well made. I think if a cheep brand came out with this perfume it would get negative reviews for smelling cheep and synthetic. To be honest I thought more people would dislike this. Maybe its one of those things were people like it not because it is particularly good but just because its a change from the usual perfume offering.

tglong95

I tried this because I absolutely LOVE Akro Bake but its hard to justify the almost 200 dollar price pont. To me - this is almost exactly the same, which makes sense since its the same perfumer behind both scents. This one is less creamy and a touch more floral than bake. But I actuallty think this is a perfectly unisex gourmand even though the design of the bottle and the reviews on fragrantica imply that its a more feminine leaning fragrance. Longevity and projection are decent too. At half the price of Bake its a "if you like that buy this" kind of fragrance

Kelle23

I love this scent. I have never been a vanilla person before, but I guess for my 51st birthday the universe gifted me a new appreciation of vanilla. I had to go in search of a good vanilla because I've never even payed attention before! I started at my local BBW....I had a birthday coupon. I got some of their plain vanilla stuff, then found their iced lemon pound cake scent. Bombdotcom. Went to my local Ulta to find for a vanilla. Bought a travel size of Goddess by Burberry (which I probably wouldn't have if they'd had a sample out...it's ok).

Then the sales rep handed me a fresh sample of Devotion, and it was love at first whiff! It doesn't have great longevity or sillage on my body, but I'm going to layer it with the iced lemon pound cake body products, spray to my heart's content, and live my best lemon vanilla fantasy.

At least until it gets really hot and I move on to the tropics (Tropidelic BBW layered with Wulang Cha/or TF Neroli Portofino).

marialena888m

It’s nice, warm and yummy, very gourmand. I can definitely smell the Panacotta note, especially in the drydown after the candied-citrus note calms down. But it does smell kind of cheap. Like a celebrity scent (a really well-made one). It has a casual feel to it. For the same price, I prefer D&G’s more luxurious vanilla, ‘The One Gold’. This one is not worth its retail price imho, way overpriced, I feel like this scent can be easily duped. I’d probably buy it for 1/4 of the price though (it’s around 200USD in my country for 3.4oz), and I’d totally keep it if gifted to me, because that panacotta note is delicious. It wears well indoors in air conditioning, eventhough it’s very hot and humid outside. Don’t judge it by the opening (I was grossed out by the sweet chemical lemon at first), wait till it dries down. Low-moderate sillage once you reach the best part of the scent, moderate longevity. I think it would need to be oversprayed if worn on a cold winter’s day.

Aisha007

Not me smelling mosquito repellent! But somehow I like it!

Elyka21

Hmm, I am not sure if I am anosmic to this one, I can barely smell anything except some very faint lemon and something sweet like brown sugar, but vintage, like a moth repellent in my grandmother's wardrobe, must be the rum. My son liked it so much, so it must project and smell nice. I am puzzled. I will allow it to mature slightly and wear it again in warm weather, I may come back with an update if anything changes.

Rickie-Refractory

Divine. This has a depth and warmth to it that you just don't see much in designer scents these days. The gourmand aspect is certainly the most apparent, but there is just enough of the floral component to remind you that this is perfume. Devotion makes me roll my eyes back in pleasure and I can't even think of another perfume that has done that since the first spritz of my vintage No. 5 and that was years ago.

anitasaastamoinen

Dry-down of this scent is gourmand, sensual and warm vanilla. In the beginning I can feel a little bit lemon-detergent, but luckily it goes away. It lasts on my skin some hours, but spraying it to my clothes, it lasts many times longer. I don't know why, but these days I love many vanilla scents more than before, before I was reaching to fruity scents more, In the cold world I need warm shelter against the reality. I prefer Goddess by Burberry a little bit more, because there isn't any detergent in that.

joexulaje

The orange blossom is too strong upon initial use. I feel positive it will subdue after a couple weeks of maceration.
The trail is absolutely divine, completely edible vanilla! Warm, without being thick, sweet and dessert like.

To me this is one of those perfumes that smell incredible from a distance, but as soon as you go near the skin to take a whiff it can easily smell like cleaning supplies, I find that's usually the case with citruses for me.

I feel this perfume has potential to become one of my favorites, can't wait to see how it transforms in the near future!

Estacey3

I've just realised what this (strongly) reminds me of and it's not good. When I was around 16 years old, I had a gradual self tanning body lotion - they were all the rage in the mid-2000s - probably from Garnier or Dove. All the self tanning lotions had a similar smell at the time and it was bearable but not actually nice. This is it!

balleflat

this is so literal. like I can smell every candied fruit cube, like there is a cake under my nose instead of a blotter. not a particularly lush one, more like those they start dropping onto shelfs of convenience stores near Easter, but it's still really pleasant. I don't want to wear it, I want to dip it into a cup of tea and then eat it. if gourmand is your jam, this is worth checking out.

the bottle is real pretty, but sadly it most likely won't ever stand on my dresser as this is too realistic for me. don't have any actual gripe with Devotion however, this is hearty and comforting, I would love to get a waft of this when hugging a friend after a good cry. maybe when fall comes...

comparisons: Akro Bake is more luxuriant, almost sultry, there is more of that liquorous quality to it, a rum cake someone didn't spare any dip for, it is definitely something I can see a man wearing unlike with Devotion. Lolitaland is not a dupe in any way and is not a gourmand, but it has this same orange-bright, cheerful quality to it which makes you want to kiss people on the cheeks and chuckle and twirl.

Fignace

I love this fragrance. Its a gourmand perfume that is just perfect. I

beautynerd

I really wanted a vanilla fragrance that was not your boring experience of same old vanilla. This one thankfully on me is fantastic and really refreshing as a gourmand scent. The fruits here are so candied and boozy with subtle sparkling citrus blossoms that dance so smoothly over rum and vanilla. It’s hard not to feel happy while wearing this! When I wear this my body chemistry brings out the boozy vanilla vibe with amber way more than the lemon note people are talking about. The fluffy orange blossom turns into a powdered sugar orange blossom and dries down so softly that it delights me every time I get a good whiff. I think this wears longer on clothing vs skin- as some have made remarks about longevity. All in all a beautiful fragrance for fruity gourmand lovers.

Erin Hillier

This is my signature day scent. Definitely a gourmand. If you love lemon desserts, get this. Will always have this in my collection. Ich

jurassic-can't-park

I am a sucker for a gourmand lemon scent. I have Lira, Love & Crime, Ani, and Blend Oud Sana.
Did I need this? No.
Did I order it because I liked the bottle? Yes
Am I going to keep it?
Sadly, no. I think it's a nice enough scent, but the lemon opening in this fragrance is stronger and leans a little more cleaning product vs lemon pie. The dry down is nicer, but I still feel it doesn't quite live up to the other scents I own in this category.
Longevity is abysmal. You're paying for the pretty bottle, not for the juice inside.
A good alternative if you want to scratch the itch for a lemon gourmand, but I'd recommend a travel spray, so you can take it with you to reapply.

Velvetta

Honestly it's so nice, i have a soft spot for lemon pastries so i might be biased. It's a memorable designer summer scent in my opinion. Makes me wanna eat it every time i smell it. Just yummy.

AlessandroCB

Devotion offers a memorable olfactory experience that pleasantly surprised me, particularly as someone who typically favors niche luxury fragrances like Xerjoff's Lira. Despite my usual inclination to avoid designer offerings, Devotion's captivating blend, very reminiscent of Lira's gourmand charm, caught my attention. Its nuanced citric sweetness adds an interesting dimension to the fragrance. While designer fragrances are sometimes perceived as lacking in quality compared to niche counterparts, Devotion stands out for delivering a good olfactory experience.

Devotion is stronger, but it has less longevity than Lira, I would recommend trying them both and seeing which one fits you better. I will keep my beloved Lira over Devotion.

fraghead97

opens really lovely but cannot stand the way the orange blossom smells with my skin chemistry once it’s dried down. it goes from smelling like lemony vanilla heaven to a faint screechy sunscreen scent. disappointed that i don’t like it on skin because i loved it on paper. as of now, i think Bake by Akro and What Big Eyes You Have by Sorcellaire Apothecary are the best lemon-vanilla gourmands i’ve tried.

honeymilkbee

My GOD she’s perfect (almost). The longevity really kills the allure. I wish there was some aspect of the opening in the dry down. Summer scent.

alliengoddess

LEMON POUNDCAKE HEAVEN. My absolutely favorite, I really love it so much. I only wish the sillage was a bit stronger.

Bachi

I smelled this for the first time this past weekend and found the scent heavenly! At that time, I had just tried on The One which quickly pulled very masculine on me. But Devotion had my heart. Today I went and generously sprayed myself with Devotion. Amazing opening, I couldn't stop sniffing my arm. It has been about 3 -3.5 hours since I tried it. It has dried down to a barely there, slightly smokyish panna cotta. It is disappointing that a pricey designer perfume (clearly not niche) is so close to a vanishing act in such a short time. The panna cotta, vanilla, and orange blossom should be the mainstays that provide the longevity from which the rum can dance in and out of. I just scrolled down and saw that other people complained about its lack of longevity and performance. So unfortunate! I was ready to shell out the money for this perfume. Honestly, I wish these companies would understand that more people would buy and be repeat customers if they put out quality products. Both Libre Le Parfum and Olympea Solar give me a solid 5 hours. These fragrances are in similar families - sweet, gourmand, with hints of freshness. Had Devotion lasted even 2 hours longer, it would have been a no brainer...

pt333

I compared this to Arko Bake which I found a little too intense for me. Devotion is good, not great but it somehow pulls the compliments from men. Go figure.

MagdalenaM

Opens nice and sweet, lemon cake-y. But the dry down smells like an air freshener to me. I just cant shake it. It doesnt smell expensive at all. I do understand why someone would like it, its a likeable scent, its not offensive, it doesnt smell bad, but I expected more thats all.
Also personally I dont really like the bottle. It looks cheap to me. I was suprised to see how many people love it.
I can imagine it would smell better during the wintertime and the performance seems good. So overall not bad, just not amazing.

sweetlyknown

Devotion has overtaken my previous citrus vanilla favorites, Lira and Unknown Pleasures. It starts out bright and syrupy. You get the candied citrus immediately, followed by rum and orange blossom, then creamy, warm vanilla. The dry down is magical. Pana cotta topped with candied citrus and vanilla whipped cream. Such a dreamy gourmand and truly unexpected from DG. I get about 8 hours on the skin and days on my clothes.

supersaiyan

Opens with a delicious sugary orange slice, quite airy, too. Dries down to Choeur des Anges with that blood orange and honey quality. I really adore this one, it’s great for most of the year except maybe summer.

It’s not really like Lira or Unknown Pleasures. Lira has a much heavier base with licorice (in fact, that’s the majority of the scent lol), and UP is more realistic and has a sweeter, denser caramel base. Devotion has a more airy quality compared to both.

ZekaChi

@Goldnlady7
Yes, you're not alone. I mentioned the poor performance a few posts below.
And you're the lucky one, with 2 hours - I don't even get 1 😂 .

Goldnlady7

I want to love this perfume but I can't even say that I like it because of it's quick vanishing act. I wonder if this is one of the juices that needs to marinate on the shelf for several months before it truly comes into it's full performance? Anyone else experiencing poor performance? Notes are lovely but lasts no longer than 2 hours on me.

mariandreasimba

I don't understand why this gets so much hate! I love it, it opens up as a really sweet lemon but then evolves to a very warm vanilla, you can feel the rum and a tiny bit of the orange blossom, it's like a rich but not buttery vanilla, really yummy, and it lasts about 6-7 hours on me and DAYS on my clothes. It is a beautiful scent.

p4triciah

A lovely lemon cake scent, similar to akro bake but more suitable for warmer weather, if you’re stuck between the two I’d recommend you buy this one. Nearly finished my 100ml going to repurchase 😍

petra_ita

This is a like, not a love for me, but every time I wear it, I’m guaranteed to get at least one compliment. Citrusy opening, but transforms into a very sweet, creamy, powdery edible vanilla. Super feminine, generous sillage and long lasting on my skin. Hubby loves this on me and I think it’s the kind of scent that usually attracts men.

ghoulish.loser

has a very strong fresh citrus scent upon first spray but dries down to a very soft sweet smell. reminds me a little bit a cross between ‘get a room & order champagne’ by confessions of a rebel and ‘plum in cognac’ by scents of wood but a lot softer. you can smell the citrus, vanilla, and ever so slight rum. (the rum is definitely not as strong as plum in cognac, it smells very faint, the way that one does when it’s faded a lot) it’s very nice but not quite my style.

kiyantam

Tried this out at Sephora and it smelled quite familiar...then I realized its very close to Lira without that heavy licorice note my nose hates. Like a boozy lemon pound cake.

Kendralenses

This is such a miss for me. It’s unfortunate. It was so overhyped, I had to get a travel and try it out. All the notes are on point for me, I should love it. …. Why is nobody talking about how powdery it smells? Not in a good way. Like synthetic aggressive powder. Not a soft lovely powder. I adore powder in fragrance. I don’t even get any lemon or citrus in this. It’s so odd. Idk what I’m missing.

The fact that anyone is comparing this to Lira makes me laugh and also angry 😆 because Lira is so good. I treasure it. I will always have it in my collection and devotion is SO FAR from lira I can’t even explain. I truly don’t understand the comparison AT ALL. Some other people are comparing it to LDBS… no. Just no. I could maaayyybe see that a little bit more, but it’s still such a stretch to compare devotion to LDBS. LDBS is also such a gem. I will always have it in my collection as well.
I’m soooo glad I didn’t fall for the hype and blind buy a large bottle of this. I’m going to keep trying it out and attempt to finish my travel spray but idk man. It’s also potentially headache inducing for me. So I will have to see how that plays out. I can’t see this being pleasant to wear in hot weather. It’s smothering, especially with all the powder coming through on me.

No lemon in the opening. Middle is all powder. Dry down is a not exciting, generic vanilla.

I don’t get it.

ZekaChi

Such a paradox for me!

It's a lovely scent.
It's a bit... boring? nothing special? pedestrian?

I both love it every time I test it, and am not in _love_ with it.

The performance doesn't help - it's gone within an hour.
So, it doesn't deserve a purchase, especially not at that price.

An yet... I find myself searching for deals on it, on the lookout for a good price, a reasonably priced leftover in a bottle...

Lira and Akro Bake are too realistic, straightforward lemon cookie scents for me, so I find this one more appealing even though they are better performance-wise.

Anyway, if you hear of a good dupe, especially one that improves upon it's longevity, please drop me a line :) .

Meredithe

Nothing to write home about although notes on Fragrantica may tell you otherwise.

AnniePruana

Lots of vanilla and a hint of lemon. Soft, creamy and an easy wear. First time I wore it the lemon was too prominent but the next time the blend of vanilla, lemon and rum was yummy. Could have been too light when I first tried it in winter. Springtime is a good time for Devotion.

Glyceryl

Dry down is vanilla cake with a hint of lemon.

This smells like something from Bath & Body Works. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but why pay the D&G price when you can get the same thing for a quarter of the price?

Ruthmarie0

Isabella Therese

I was expecting a citrus-vanilla gourmand and I was so disappointed. It's citrus, orange blossom, rum and... COCONUT. Instead of vanilla I get coconut (which I hate). I get absolutely zero vanilla from Devotion. Moments like this make me question my nose because it's not the first time a lot of people are screaming "vanilla!!" when it's such an obvious coconut note to me. "Creamy" isn't always vanilla, it can be a lot of other things. Honestly, Devotion reminds me of sunscreen, same synthetic coconut smell. It's not gourmand in the slightest. Also not a fan of the citrus in the opening, it's a harsh cleaning product citrus on my skin. Overall, the vibe is syntethic, and I don't understand how anyone can find this scent edible. I would never eat something that smelled as artificial as this. It's also very, very strong, almost to the point that it's headache inducing. It's extremely sweet too, like La Vie Est Belle level sticky sweetness. They don't smell the same at all, but they have the same kind of syrupy sweetness. If you want a smooth and round citrus/caramel/vanilla gourmand, go for Lira by Xerjoff. It's way better. 3/10.

Frangipanilove

Yikes. On initial spray it is very edible - the impression is like a sweet version of the spray they use in supermarkets to enhance the fresh bakery smell to sell more bread. This initial interest soon fades and turns into a turnoff as the sweet rum vanilla ‘pannacotta’ turns rancid and the perfume gets a strange off note. May fare better on a different body chemistry to mine but I wager this is one many will start detesting after a short while.

A dupe of Kissing By Kilian. Good sillage and projection. Strictly for gourmand lovers - very sweet and cloying.

BeatriceCetti

Hm excessively gourmand... to me it feels like there's something missing in this scent

maddie2503

Ugh I want this so bad. I smelled it in Sephora and was immediately in love. Lemon pound cake. I think this would actually work really well as a summer gourmand because of that candied lemon note, it really brightens it up and prevents it from going sickly. But I think this obviously can work in the winter too because it is so damn sweet. Definitely going to be one of my next purchases.

Ali-Delia

Parfumul prăjitură dar finalul este frumos tare mie una îmi aduce mirosul final a Kayali musk

autumnblue914

Waiting on my bottle to mature and get deeper, it's good as it is, but the tester was gorgeous.

I found it for an absolutely great price. I still stand by my previous review where I say that for what you get, the full price isn't worth it (for me).

I'm a sucker for vanilla, and this has grown on me I admit. It's so delicious.

Saveria

Wow ! How good it smells!

And yet it's not at all my type of perfume but when it smells good, it has to be said! I almost want to go buy a bottle just to wear something different and a little crazy from time to time!

I feel like I'm smelling a freshly baked candied lemon cake. Nothing that really reminds me of Italy - contrary to what advertising wants us to believe - except perhaps imagining Capri lemons!

A very delicious perfume. All that remains is to ask myself the question; do I want to smell like lemon cake?...

Iri123

I tried it in the store and it was like a warm coat of vanilla with a hint of citrus, quite long lasting as for D&G, about 5h. What came out in the bottle I bought is a bit different, it has lot of citrus, smells just like lemon candy and that nice warm vanilla comes later. And it doesn’t last the same long, maybe up to 2h. Anyways, it’s not bad, but I’m happy that I’ve got only a 30ml bottle

venusinyourfurs

The initial spray of the fragrance is almost sour, with a strong emphasis on the orange blossom note. As it dries down, it becomes distinctly boozy with a warm vanilla undertone. Although, the projection and longevity aren’t too impressive considering the price and the scent itself tends to be quite one-dimensional.

I basically just smell like marmalade — is that a bad thing ? You decide.

Update :
I quickly grew tired of this fragrance. Over time, it seemed to develop an extremely bitter dry-down ??

lilizzie

initial spray is sherbet lemon sweets it's so mouth watering then melts into warm vanilla and caramel. Yummy

OneSnifWonder

Sexy warm weather date night or going out perfume. Sweet, even a little sour on the opening but the boozy, warm dry down really grounds it and brings that sexiness. This is not a complex, unique fragrance but sometimes I just want to have dinner in the sun on a patio somewhere and maybe go out dancing afterward and this fragrance is perfect for that vibe.

sniffmybreeze

smells exactly like the sugared lemon zest candle from b&bw mixed with dettol lemon hand soap, all good things but not worth the price point

bilgeakcay

When i first sprayed it at the store and came back to home, i smelled a delicious vanilla for days. Sillage is powerful yet not disturbing. But unfortunately after i have purchased the bottle and started to use it, i started smelling the lemon cologne scent. Probably it's because the mixture of lemon, orange blossom and rum. All o them together are giving a way too sharp smell and smells like lemon cologne. After an hour, that strong rum and lemon smell disappears. The remaining vanilla is good from far distance but when you're the wearer it really dries down the throat. Overall, it can't be a handbag perfume since it smells lemon cologne for 1 hour at the beggining but still a warm perfume to spray sometimes. 2 sprays are definitely enough and it really stays for days so don't buy anything bigger than 30 ml i think... Definitely a good 'coat perfume' for me, i'll spray few times on my coats to make my wind smell like vanilla.

Mishmash92

I thought this was going to be my signature but I really don’t like it.

The candies lemon (smells more like orange) is nice but then it dries down to a VERY powdery booze vanilla that makes my throat feel dry. It had such a juicy opening but the dry down is BEGGING for freshness.

Lira is a much smoother citrus gourmand imo.

Janellmarie

At first I thought this was a cold weather perfume. I am wrong! Wearing this today on a 70 degree day it’s like a tropical, fresh smelling sweet perfume. My son said I smell like Hawaiian cotton candy (if there was such a thing). He’s right!

DebiL1211

Love it! 💛
Sweet lemon custard with vanilla whipped cream on top.
12 sprays and I get a good 6-8 hours.
It projects fairly well for the first couple of hours and then slowly becomes more intimate.
10/10 and will be buying the 100ml once my smaller bottle is gone.

chainsmokerbarbie

I scored the 100ml for only 80 bucks so i'm super happy with it !! The candied lemon note is delicious but not long lasting and it ends up a boozy vanilla, I get zero of the orange blossom which doesn't bother me in this case. Longevity is good wish the silage was a bit stronger this scent is a bit intimate

Vanilliams

Really love the opening, the candied lemon stops sweetness of the other notes being too overpowering. But after 20 mins on my skin the lemon is gone and I'm left with a pretty generic sweet lactonic dry down. It's a perfectly nice fragrance, but if the lemon stuck around it would go from a like to a love.

Melis.t

I was expecting lemon cake but it smells like lemon cologne mixed with candies in a weird way. Dry down is quite cloying and unbearable for me.

vinky

Following a recommendation, I purchased this perfume in hopes it would mirror the scent of Super Milk by Lush (the hair primer, not the limited edition perfume).

Upon first spritz, I detected some semblance to Super Milk, which I found appealing, though it wasn't the exact match I was seeking. The scent is challenging to pinpoint—it reminds me of the inner essence of a gumball (not the typical sweet bubble gum), carrying an almost plastic or medicinal quality. Initially, it reveals a candied lemon laced with a hint of alcohol, evolving into a cozy dry down of soft vanilla marshmallow enriched with a true caramel note—the kind you'd savor in a dessert rather than a wrapped candy. If you are familiar with Lush, this is what I'd imagine a Super Milk bath bomb to smell like, which isn't a comment I'm throwing in as a positive note.

There's something nostalgic surrounding both the perfume and its packaging, evoking a casual 2000s - velour tracksuits, feather clip-ins, and flipping through gossip magazines. I definitely see it as a 'youthful adult' scent.

I find the fragrance somewhat addictive; it compels me to reapply just to encapsulate its essence better or simply to relive the memories it stirs.

My primary concern lies with its sillage. While the scent is pleasant its lemony start to its sweet finale, it feels decidedly intimate. This characteristic, while not necessarily negative, does influence how and when I choose to wear it. I could almost see myself wearing it on occasions where Maison Margiela's By the Fireplace is too blatantly 'smoked-marshmallows-and-booze-by-the-fire' for me.

(7.5/10)

Karielle

This smells like like a yummy candied vanilla lemon meringue pie in the opening. Then settles into more vanilla forward skin scent. Unfortunately, after 30 minutes its gone. For the price it's very disappointing.

Ca3na

Lemony deliciousness! I'm am however slightly conflicted on this one. As other reviewers have said I absolutely LOVE the opening, when I can smell the candied lemon. When this fades (for me I no longer smell candied lemon after 3 hours or so), it becomes vanilla, but it is still a lovely fragrance. After about 10 hours of wear, something odd happens and (on my skin) it starts to smell like a cheap love don't be shy dupe all of a sudden. Luckily by this time I'll be washing it off. For the most part I really really like Devotion.

miss-baksel1988

I absolutely love the opening, the mixture between vanilla, caramel and citrus. However, the citrus doesn’t last, only the sweet scent of caramel does. Shame..

Clear Skies

After wearing Devotion for 3 weeks I can say that I really like it. It is sweet but not cloying, comfortable to wear, puts me in a great mood. (I cannot wear too strong or too sweet perfumes). I am considering a full bottle. I also have Xerjoff's Lira, which I like a little bit more. But I think Devotion is a beautiful perfume. 9/10 for me.

sassa7

The opening of this on me is impressive, reminiscent of The One since it's balsamic from the rum and has the same floral and solar sweetness that is so comforting in both scents. "Hide the rum" moment hehe. I loooooooove boozy and liqueur scents, but I don't drink nor am I attracted to alcoholic drinks... funny. Its opening was like a lemony The One, I really loved it and if I buy it it's because of this. I find The One to be more syrupy, floral and deep than this. Devotion is more of a playful gourmand and a balsamic opening that tricked me at first thinking it's a perfumey linear scent. The rest of Devotion completely changed mood on me and ended up being like something we normally get from Le Monde Gourmande, no hating I looove many of their crude creations and playful scents, but they are not pricey-high-end. So the rest of the fragrance retains less of the D&G traditional vein, as the sugary green sour, almost-like-lime notes evolve, and the sugar is still present. The orange blossom agrees with my chemistry here and it's what gives this solar effect, but I don't get much of that later on. Devotion kinda started smelling funny on me after 30 mins, as if there is too much sugar and lime. Will have to try it again. The milky lemon notes after 30 mins on my skin is what I did not like much in this perfume because on my skin they are too green, almost like lime and something is not in harmony anymore at the drydown, too much crude sugar? Idk. I wish the scent had stayed as it was the first 10 mins on my skin. I'd go back and explore it more. Would I buy it? Maybe, cuz it's boozy, weird and balsamic. I just don't love it like I love The One and its variations, but who knows maybe I'll get addicted to it and see it subjectively.

Some of D&G perfumes don't smell high-end to me at all. I see them as juvenile or fun and peculiar scents of the 90s, some first marketed & bottled by smaller brands (I had a European perfume as a kid that smelled identical to Anthology L'Imperatrice 3). It must be one of these lazy moments of D&G when they decide to bottle cheap-smelling scents like L'Imperatrice 3, serious bottles ridiculous fruity scent: I acquired Sublime by Ulric de Varens before I bought Pour Femme, because I couldn't take Sublime seriously as a perfume - they're basically identical and this scent was in a furniture polish product I used as a kid on my piano in Greece, oops. So Devotion is in that league to me: fun and playful, only more original, and having The One's vibe at first. It's the unexpected, weird, too weird to be a perfume type of perfume that doesn't take itself too seriously, it's a bit messy, yet carries a designer name on it, a contradiction you don't expect or I should have expected from D&G at this point haha. I like the concept of Devotion from a high-end designer, so if it was better blended with some more perfumey notes in the drydown like the ones in the opening, then I'd have totally loved it. If anything, they could have marketed this as another The One flanker.

Update: The more I test this I see that it retains more and more the sultry, balsamic -almost like church incense, effect of The One, but along with the lemon note that translates to lime on my skin, like a boozy key lime pie with a balsamic orange blossom veil on it. It is quite nice, but again the sugary lemon is not too compatible with my chemistry. I think it smells better on me in cold weather, and I tested it the first time in the heat and this time in cooler weather so I liked it more. If I find it discounted I will buy it, only because it reminds me of The One but lemon/lime-centered instead of peach/bergamot. The One and The One L'Eau can induce headache to me, but Devotion does not, it is not as balsamic.

vpace91

I'm usually not super into citrus-heavy fragrances but I'm an unapologetic lover of fragrances that smell like desserts. This is so, so good. At first spray it *is* a tad "Lemon Pledge" but after a few minutes it developed into something so sweet and amazing and addicting.

Forbiddenjade

Oh, my word... this is awesome! Meringue 🍋 pie! Fabilicious gourmand, smooth transition from opening (tart/citric) to bottom (creamy/vanill-y).

To oomph the citric, fizzy opening, I'll layer it with Good Girl Blush. These two will rock and counter balance each other's off. Absolute love from me!

Suedecat

On me this starts off as orange creamsicle and then fades to lemon poundcake for a bit. It ultimately ends up close to the skin and mostly orange blossom with a bit of vanilla. I adore the top and middle of this but have some issues with the orange blossom dry down. I'm not a huge orange blossom fan and it can do weird things on my skin. I think that it becomes close enough to LDBS on the dry down that I don't need both in my collection. I do not find it similar to Lira at all. Lira is denser, the vanilla is darker and I prefer it more in the colder months.

cunt.dracula

I got this on sale on Amazon for $70! And I'm sooo glad I did. If you are NOT a citrus/lemon fan, do NOT buy this. The the strongest note here is definitely the candied lemon. I first sprayed it earlier today around 5:30 pm, and it's become a skin scent and almost disappeared now as of 8:52 pm. This is NOT lemon crusted pie, more so a very sweet lemon dipped in some honey.

When I first sprayed it, I DID get lemon pledge scent, but it was brief. It got so much sweeter over time. I just am bummed the longevity is trash.

It's still on sale on Amazon as of today, for cheaper, $64 now, so definitely order there.

gemeljoseph

First smelled this in Ulta while browsing and shopping and loved it but the longevity was horrible on me. Didn’t last more than 30 minutes. Now Macy’s has sent me a sample and I hate the scent. It’s giving Hawaiian Breeze Glade bathroom air freshener but the longevity is a lot better. Could my body chemistry be causing such a vast difference in both scent and longevity or is the difference in the quality of the sample between Ulta and Macy’s? I kinda wanna buy a full bottle but idk. Anybody else have varying experiences with this one?

Melmangia

I tried this and Lira and find this to be less cloying. I’m not big on super sweet scents but this one is right on the limit, it teeters on the cliff that Lira plunged over for me. All to say, I am enjoying it. Initially smells like a gorgeous honey to me, then evolves into the lemon pound cake everyone keeps talking about.

jessyux3

Orange creamcicle without the deliciousness and a rubbery smelling headache

Scentnewbie7

Such a lovely dessert themed gourmand fragrance! Lemon meringue pie is how I would describe the smell. Not artificial at all! Not too mature not too young smelling. Perfect for day or night wear.

Shimmer412

A lovely simple yet unique gourmand fragrance. I get mainly sweet candied lemon, orange blossom, warm vanilla, and just a hint of rum. It’s very pretty! The lemon is sweet and a little bit tart, but not too citrusy or sharp. It definitely does not remind me of lemon scented cleaning products thankfully (I’d heard some negative comments of that sort in a FB fragrance group). It’s a very sweet fragrance. Overall, I think it’s a beautiful, unique, and yummy take on a vanilla gourmand!

I get great longevity with Devotion, it lasts the whole day on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out at least an arm’s length from me.

As a side note, one of the reasons that I really wanted this perfume so much was because I saw one of my all time favorites in the “reminds me” section, Gold Sugar. I just wanted to say that I personally don’t find them at all similar even though I do love both. However, Gold Sugar is still one of my all time favorite fragrances.

sunnybun

This smells like a lemon pound cake. Its VERY sweet, I don't want to buy the full size since I feel like I will get sick of how sweet this smells. It is very nice but I won't commit to it.

SalZs

This is more of a note-to-self than a review.

The opening of this is lovely: a tangy lemon dessert. The dry down, however, is cloying and sickly sweet, like the very sticky syrup (traditionally a reduction of sugar, lemon, and orange blossom water) you’re left with at the bottom of an empty baklava box. Maybe I find it super cloying because of this very culture-specific olfactory association? Idk, but I can’t get over the fact that this ends up smelling like stale syrupy dessert crumbs to me.

ar_g02

I am totally in love with this one! It smells like rum, panna cotta and sweeten lemon. Kinda reminds me of limoncello too. It’s a very cozy gourmand smell, and in my opinion it’s perfect for any season.

Gabriella.0

To me this smells like a super tasty, sweet, realistic lemon cake. The vanilla is just enough to enrich the smell, just the way it would be used in a cake. I find it wearable in every season, as it's both sweet and citrus at the same time. The sillage didn't amaze me, but it lasts quite well on my skin (when most fragrances don't)

Very similar to Kerosene - Unknown pleasures

lavieenrose1987

How lovely is this! I've been looking for a citrus-infused gourmand and this ticked that box. The vibe I get is a lemon glazed panettone with candied lemon and a bit of underlying floral. Also, the bottle has to be one of my favourites in my collection. It's one that I'll definitely be hanging on to after it's empty just for decor.

Candyshop12

I wore this beauty few days ago and got so many compliments. Its so much like a lemon cake fluffy dessert carmelized. I also mix this with Bbw Wrapped in vanilla mist, try it and thank me later!!

car0

Love this, the candied lemon really stands out once you first spray it and it really adds to the realistic image of a panettone. While the scent in itself doesn't feel like it is groundbreaking, it is different for a vanilla-based gourmand. My only complaint is that i cannot smell this on myself at all! Which is strange as I've seen others complain about it being so strong it is cloying. Once i spritzed it...gone. Also can't tell if others smell it on me, so tragic considering i'd love to get whiffs of it during the day. Wish my nose blindness would go away as i find it a very cozy scent.

ReneeM

Took a trip to Sephora to try this. It's the next day and here are my thoughts.

Longevity is good. It takes about 4 hours to become a skin scent but will stay there until you shower.

If this perfume had half the amount of orange blossom it would be the perfect multi season gourmand.

The orange blossom is overwhelming unfortunately.

mush.mane

What can I add more other than it is really like a dessert and someone (who actually is far from perfume galaxy ) would like to take a bite...
So it starts with candied lemons and transforms intu fluffy vanilla .It is so simple nothing ground breaking but at the same time so obsessive. I am drawn into this little baby .I can't get enough of it, it's like you are in a very luxury patisserie store and want to sniff and sniff and sniff. My verdict as a Ling term pafoholic go get it .That's it .

Pollyparfumlover

Devotion is delicious and smells like a panettone, that I love it! Hahaha!

saf_her

This smells EXACTLY like candied lemon, you will literally smell edible.

PurpleT

This is exquisite! It so sweet, sexy and delicious it makes me salivate!

annafaerie

Lemon poundcake. That's it. It's nice, sweet and pretty, and I like that the concept is pretty unique, but I don't inhale it and picture anything. I don't breathe it in and imagine art or literary figures or picturesque scenery, and I think that's why I, in my own fragrance journey, am just not very inspired by many "gourmand" scents. I don't tend to judge a fragrance by notes, I judge it by a) how it makes me feel, and b) what I picture in my mind's eye. I like to feel like a nymph, a flower fairy, Helen of Troy, Ophelia...this makes me feel like a girl who smells like lemon poundcake.

HOWEVER, this IS smooth, sweet, sexy. I can only imagine a suitor finding it very alluring. Orange blossom in gourmand scents is always an inspired choice. It wasn't for me, but it very well could be for you!

AlaskanAngel

Never smooths out enough for my taste. Something (or some things) in here are static-y, like prickles. Even the far dry down remains too abrasive. Bake, Vanille, Unknown, and many others are far superior for a similar price point. Decluttered.

anamawsity

Didn’t like this much at first but it’s grown on me so much! When I first sprayed it, the candied lemon felt very artificial but it sweetens after an hour and then I love it. It’s a sweet lemony scent with a hint of floral. It doesn’t last too long, just a few hours, but it has a nice personal sillage.
Out of all the “similar” perfumes listed, Devotion feels like a mixture of Akro’s Bake and Kerosene’s Unknown Pleasures, but is more similar to Bake. Bake is missing the bit of floral that Devotion has and Unknown Pleasures has more of an herbal/tea scent. BUT I do have to say that I like Bake and Unknown Pleasures more than Devotion. In terms of other similar perfumes—
✔️ Guerlain’s Bosca Vanilla: quite similar
❌ Theodoros Kalotinis Lemon Tart: pure Lysol wipes on my skin whereas Devotion is quite sweet so I wouldn’t say they’re similar
❌ Bath & Bodyworks Iced Lemon Pound Cake: much lighter and less complex to me
❌ Burberry’s Goddess: missing the heavy citrus
❌ Kilian’s Princess: missing the heavy citrus

stella.cherie

I'm getting exactly what @CosyCattleya said. Delicious, buttery lemon cake, softly sweet, linear. This is a true gourmand for the gourmand lover.

Cloverdosee

I work at bath and body works and to me this smells veryyy reminiscent of one of my favorite scents iced lemon pound cake! Working at BBW has made me really interested in fragrance (since a lot of theirs are very juvenile or lighthearted it’s made me curious in the next step up) and I’ve recently startled to dabble with perfumes for the first time.. this perfume reminds me of that scent, yet a more sophisticated, better blended or “perfume-ified”?😭 version? Idk honestly this whole world is new to me but I’m having fun lol and really enjoy this perfume.. the dry down is intoxicating and the vanilla reallly starts to pull through and truly evokes that sweet panacotta vibe.. if you’re into gourmands and especially sweet candied lemon creamsicle deliciousness you will love this! Lasts on my skin a solid 6 hours and on clothes for 10+ hours :)

_cryptic_girl_

didn't expect to be so conflicted by this! the concept and bottle of Devotion are both sooooo pretty. BUT it reacts strangely with my skin and 5 minutes after application lemon candy turns sour and bitter😭 later there is more vanilla but it's dusty and doesn't feel nice mixed with that weird citrus note. On my clothes days after it smells gorgeous, like some ambrosiac vanilla and honey potion... I'll give it another chance during heat hoping it reacts differently. Now it just doesn't work with my skin.

kristiinabomm00

I don't know how or why, but this gives me I Vicolia Via Fiori Chiari by Trussardi (only more toned down obviously). The rum? The lemon? Nonetheless, I love this fragrance, about time for a new and GOOD designer gourmand frag! Would be ideal for date night, unbelieveably sensual.

Elleb

Smells fresh and yummy in the same time.

CosyCattleya

Literally a buttery lemon pound cake in a bottle. If that's your vibe, give it a go

Hp.Ps.22

For me, this was a instant love. "It girl" scent, something sweet, unique enough to stand out (from all the basic vanilla and floral frag) but not too unique so it is a crowd pleaser.

Opening does give that candied lemon and pretty strongly too. On my skin the first sprays have little bit ginger tone so it has nice warmness to it and not just crisp lemon. Candied lemon mellows down to lemon cake-like scent. Vanilla and caramel are solid throughout the day.

Performance is pretty good too (notes being vanilla, caramel, citrus and little lactonic which usually fade away pretty easy). This does last on me about 7h on skin and way over 10h on my clothes.

AnnaMaria0307

I have been on a candied lemon kick lately and tried several that fit that profile: Devotion, Hufflepuff, Unknown Pleasures, and Lira. Devotion is by far my favorite. It has a lovely sweet lemon note that's fresh, but comforting and warm at the same time. It is blended with the vanilla beautifully. I can't get enough. The other fragrances I tried had a strong lemon Pledge smell that would not fade. I was especially disappointed by Lira since it is so highly regarded in the fragrance community.

hellebelle

Eh. The vanilla aspect is not what stands out most to me. I’d describe the most edible note as something like cream, so I suppose that’s pannacotta in the pyramid. I mainly just get that and fairly realistic orange blossom for the first few hours, then I don’t really notice it at all when smelling up close to where I sprayed, but I do get whiffs of something approaching a very light version of Lira for probably around 8-10 hours. Cute bottle. Not bad!

Iconic'80s

While I can see the comparison to Lira, I don't think Devotion can hold a candle to Lira.
There is that faint candied lemon opening to Devotion followed by vanilla that is nice but it simply faded away on me to nothing inside of two hours.
Definitely not worth the price. Lira is is in the same vein but outstanding.

RahOfThemyscira

While this smells nothing like Lira. I absolutely LOVE it! That said, I get a ginger note in there as well? Might be from the “candied lemons” but I love it. Makes me smell edible.

Cecilie.l.s.m

Delicious fragrance.
Deep yet still light.
Sweet yet still tart/citrusy.
Edible yet still floral.

It almost has it all.

A very adult candy scent.

It makes me feel youthful, but not like a teenager.
It makes me feel sophisticated, but not dull.

I can smell vanilla, lemon, and flower (don't know which flower).

It's somewhat reminiscent of a Danish lemon mousse that has a good amount of vanilla in it.

LOVE it!

bug.juice.184

Not for me. It is very similar to Chocolate Greedy by Montale, it has strong lemon candy scent in a opening, instead of Montale's which has orange artificial aroma. Who likes to smell like food, or very gourmand, this is it, especially in a first hour. After that, initial artificial food lemon candy cake aromas evaporate, and scent goes to perhaps some other, soapy, shampoo-y direction, with something sweet and hard in it. I though the lemon will be different, perhaps like in LB, but no no, this is way to sweet, though many people will like for that exactly. CG is better, lasts longer, and is more unisex.

Marinka71

On my skin this is woodsy-lemony- vanilla scent that smells very synthetic and poorly done.

This is nowhere near heavenly Lira, it's much more similar to Aqua allegoria forte bosca vanilla. (See my review for both, for more information).

pinkfairygumdrop

@sasaaaN
please tell me you're joking
i'm sorry to tell you but by the fireplace doesn't have any lemon notes..........

Atomikbomb_

I didn't like this at first...at all. It opens up roughly and I'm a little surprised that more people haven't thought so too. I sprayed this in Ulta and recoiled.

But...it dries down to be much, much prettier!

It truly is a fragrance of duality, and it really is just about as simplistic as the note pyramid suggests. Sweet lemons, and tons of vanilla. That's it.

Yet, somehow the experience is richer than that would lead you to believe, it feels *full* and doesn't leave one feeling like there needs to be more in addition. Well...for the most part. I for one, personally, would love this if it had some plushy sandalwood to ground it even more and make it a little more purfume-y.

But then again, the lack of woods kind of renders it easier to wear, and more casual. Maybe some people would deem this a sexbomb because of the vanillic strength, but to me, it's actually pretty pedestrian.

I like it, and I would give it an 8. I don't need it, but I think it's actually pretty solid.

Dutchlikesclassics

Great scent for people who like gourmand scents. I cannot compare this to Bake or Lira, since I do not know them yet.

I do like the citrus candy opening. I like the dry down as well. It reminds me of the vanilla dry down of Casmir by Chopard (which I recently repurchased because of good memories of the nineties).

Regrettably I am not impressed by silage/longevity.

Today I received a sample, but I would buy this and overspray.

It’s a lovely and comforting fragrance, nothing complex, just very nice.

I don’t care if this is not a niche scent. I agree with Scrabtree417: a good scent is a good scent.

sambal93

I love Lira. So I thought I would love this too. Unfortunately it’s so rancid I had to wash it off. Smells like fake plastic lemon cookies. Made feel nauseous. An absolute no for me.

plumtobacco

lira where? this smells like 4711

Vermeer

Enjoyable after the dry down, though I have to admit the thick cloud of overly sugary synthetic lemons during the first hour was overwhelming. I think a softer, more natural approach to the citrus would have worked better for me. However, the vanilla smells absolutely delicious - with slightly more balance to the notes, I would have gone back to purchase. A slightly weary like, I will probably retest in future and hope for a change of opinion!

hollyoaks321

Smells Exactly like lira I smell no difference!

peckypek

realistic lemon cookies, limonlu hanımeller kurabiye. i really like it but not complex enough for a perfume, would purchase if if was a body mist.

jvliagv

love love love - smells exactly like a lemon drop cookie, so sweet and delicious. the bottle is stunning too!! new favourite :)

b.a.denney

I took a picture of the bottle at Sephora so I'd remember that this is the perfume that I HATE. According to the notes, I should love it, but it almost makes me gag. There's just something offensive in this perfume that I can't stand.

Dexter G

I so wanted to love this perfum. I tried but it is just a big fail for me. I was so excited by the notes and the hype but I just cant stand it. I guess the writing was on the wall when I previously disliked a sample of Akro Bake. I just cannot take the heavy nature of this scent - suffocating and so cloying. I dont want to smell like a pudding! One of my blind buy disasters. Anyone for a swap??!! 😉

Mshapiro2115

Smells delicious. Very straight forward fragrance. You either love the candied lemon and vanilla drizzled cake scent or you hate it. It reminds me of Lira but nowhere near as masterfully blended and without all of the other notes that is Lira. Devotion smells amazing on me and I have bought two full bottles just to have a back up for when I run low. I still reach for Lira but only when I am in the mood for something more complex. Devotion is a safe blind buy for gourmand lovers. Vanilla lovers will enjoy this scent very much.

MissLu

Lira and Bake are better :)

amyers00

i bought it, smells like straight lemon on the first spray but after 3 secs it dries down into this beautiful vanilla. the best way i can describe it is like spicy vanilla candy. doesn’t last long imo so it’s not worth the high price point but very beautiful

islandgirlmaranda

Never judge a perfume on its first spray or even the first day of wear. This was a hard pass for me at first. Now it's a dang obsession. It may have been the weather or my mood, or my hormones. But at first it was sharp and stinky. Even wrote a negative review on HERE about it. Months later, trying it again and now just ordered the largest bottle. Day 1 was sharp lemon cleaning solution and nothing else. Now it's sweet sugary chewy lemon/vanilla candy. Or lemon cake with buttercream frosting. I don't know but all I do know is I wanna eat myself up wearing this. And I'm sorry for what I said when I was hungry. Lol.

Blossomlove

Honestly, I know that we're all supposed to love niche brands more, right? I mean...if I'm into designer scents than I can't really consider myself to be a fragrance connoisseur..right? Pfff. Listen, a good scent is a good scent. PERIOD. Whether it be a celebrity scent, middle eastern, niche, or designer, the nose likes what the nose likes. This nose prefers this over Akro Bake. Sorry. It's just more interesting and smells more like a person and less like actual food. Ironically enough, Bake was created by the same person who did Devotion, so I don't think he's ripping himself off. I've figured out that I'm not too into smelling like actual food. While I love the way they smell (and I might actually LIKE the way Bake smells more), I've found that I just don't reach for them. Many of them turn funky on me and have zero longevity, tbh. So, for now, my vote goes to devotion. Well, Lira first, then devotion. Who knows, this might change when I get a boyfriend and want to smell edible for him! TBD.

jxssicamidnight

Oh my goodness I am in love with this fragrance.
Candied lemon sugar cookies!
Delectable. New favourite for sure!!

frag_nostalgia

I don't know how designers don't get sued for aping niche concepts. Tried in store yesterday, and this is literally the topnotes of Kerosene Unknown Pleasures, but lacking in the oomph and longevity of its muse. Not very much like Lira. I'm assuming more ppl have tried Lira than U.P., and that's why L has more upvotes; but seriously it's not really so much like Lira, with its notes of lavender and cinnamon- adding interest this one lacks. I feel bad for the owners of niche brands always getting their most lucrative ideas stolen. Unknown Pleasures has a higher oil concentration therefore lasts longer, and more depth to it; with its creamy, almost coconutty tonka and herbal tea notes. In essence, more bang for your buck. I would just go for U.P.

jujuba4596

I was a little bit afraid of this lemon note, because normally fragrances with lemon notes remind me of cleaning products. But this lemon note is pure Lemon Pie feeling. Among side vanilla, this candied lemon note makes the perfume very sweet, like a lemon cupcake! Loved this fragrance :)

missmaowens

Devotion is what I thought Lira would be. This fragrance smells just like the notes. You really do pick up the candied lemon. Im so happy with my purchase. It literally smells like Iced lemon sugar cookies. I have not smelled Baked by Akro and I actually have no desire to do so because I'm very pleased with Devotion. Since I have Lira I often layer them together and I top it off with Hufflepuff. Speaking of Hufflepuff, she is my favorite of the trio but I'll speak more in depth about Hufflepuff when I review it

Aromalover

I found the bottle very beautiful, but i didn't like many D&G perfumes. The one I really like was only Light Blue Intense. Needless to say I wasn't very interested. I was given a sample and eventually got a chance to test it.

At the opening, I can definitely smell the candied citrus, lemony, zesty yet sweet. I asked myself if I ever had a perfume with this note, but I don't think I ever did. The citrus notes in Light Blue Intense was very different. While I liked this smell, the only thing it reminded me of was an air freshener scent. That threw me off a little bit. I thought to myself "I like it but I don't want to smell like a room spray".

And very quickly I smelled the orange blossom notes, which reminded me a lot of Lancome La Vie Est Belle, which I also own and really liked. And before long, the vanilla notes came rushing in. It surprised me how the lemony scent really quickly went away. Like as if, there was almost not point in adding it. And at the drydown, I only smell the vanilla and the lemon was totally gone.

Walking around the whole day, I kept on smelling my wrist and the vanilla notes smell so familiar and nostalgic but I can't remember what. Until I realise it really reminded me to my teenage years, exactly 20 years ago. When I wore a vanilla perfume by L'occitane, Eau de Vaniliers. The drydown smelled very much the same. It was back then my favorite perfume and was very sad when it got discontinued.

I really like this perfume, and I might buy it, not because it was unique or anything, but because it feels nostalgic and reminds me of my youth..

fairypond

This is a very straightforward fragrance. Straight up lemon tart scent, super gourmand. I personally like it and think it's well-made and pleasant, but it's not a unique concept whatsoever lol. Nothing shocking here, this could be a safe blind-buy for gourmand lovers, at least for me the scent was exactly as I imagined it would be based on the notes! If you want to smell like a slice of candied lemon cake, this is for you. 🍋🍰
+the bottle is kitchy and fun, I love it!

chrissay

Very delicate, burnt sugar. I like it, but I can barely notice it.

antfarm

One of my new favorites. I tested this in Ulta--I sprayed it on the strip, and was hit with something that smelled like melted caramel, and dismissed it as too sweet. Then I kept going back to it and sniffing it right from the nozzle, on my own skin, on my jacket, etc. Then I was addicted. It's a simple scent, so nothing challenging or statement-making. It's mainly an incredibly pleasant, light gourmand musk that doesn't have sillage/projection beyond an arm's reach. I wish it was more powerful because it does smell fantastic. I feel like I'd be doing a public service by wearing Devotion on full blast every place I ran errands in a day. Boom. Now your tire shop smells like sparkling yellow pastries glimmering in the sunlight.

After trying it on my skin, I realized that the base notes smell almost identical to D&G The One, which I also really like. When I first spray on Devotion, there is a delicious introduction of glazed lemon pound cake. The crystallized candied citrus opening only lasts on my skin for about 15 minutes--I wish it was there for the entirety of the experience because it would make Devotion stand out more from other D&G perfumes. It is so zesty, yet also so sugary. So in summary, what it smells like is a brief period of candied citrus deliciousness followed by a smooth, clean, creamy vanillic musk.

The bottle is beautiful. It is heavy and obviously made with care and attention to detail. The golden ornate heart on the front of the bottle reminds me of Kirsten Dunst in Marie Antoinette with the poufy fabrics and table full of cakes and pastries. In fact, I think the word "poufy" would suit this fragrance well, because it is very soft and uplifting.

cflatorrev

Strong and unique. This is very rare for a DG perfume. I didn’t have anything like this in my collection. I’m in love.

sugarspice

I was so excited for this one but the orange blossom is too prominent for me - it gives it a creamsicle vibe instead of a lemon rum cake or lemon pound cake like I was hoping for. If it wasn't for the orange blossom this would have been a new favourite, but luckily my 12yo loved it (well lucky for her).

NinaSummer

this fragrance is true to its note, I get a lot of candied citrus and a powerful vanilla note. It's overly sweet for my taste and I tried it because of the citrus and orange blossom notes hoping to dip my toe into the vanilla perfume world. This did not convert me. I'm not saying it's a bad scent, but it is not unique enough for me to make peace with the sweetness. Some people wrote that it is fresh - not. More on the creamier side - but if you want a safe sweet scent and you usually like sugary-vanilla perfumes, go for it.

Sandybeachs44

We need this in a Lotion 🙏😍

Ceila88

Its one of the nastiest perfumes everrrrrrr .. smells like rotten citrus that is covered in expired vanilla creme .. very rancid icky smell .. i tried to give it multiple chances and wait for drydown evolvement but no , its so bad

Jezeleah

I am really surprised that I did not like this. In my head I imagine myself to be a gourmand girl, but I realize I’m just not. I do like vanilla fragrances, berry and citrus fragrances. Fruit cocktails that are sickly sweet are a big no but also heavy gourmands like devotion have not been enjoyable. I enjoy Love & Crime because citrus cuts through it, but it also doesn’t turn creamy like devotion. Devotion begins with a sharp citrus burst but then it disappears. The creamy aspect is what I thought I would love the most, but I don’t.

armani6

Starts off with the most dreamy soft lemon then envelopes into the most creamy vanilla, absolute love love!! So well blended. I will be wearing this a lot in the summer!! It's a very calming and relaxing scent!!

rene.saller

Devotion is very pretty, but I'm not sure I could pick it out of a lineup with Akro Bake and Lira by Xerjoff. There is something about this perfume that reminds me very much of the smell of Mr. Lemonhead candy. It's pretty much a straight-up gourmand, I think, but the drydown seems lighter and less "trapped inside the bakery overnight" than with the other lemon-poundcake fragrances that I have sampled. If there are floral notes in Devotion, I can't detect them (aside from the vanilla, which often has a floral aspect, I think). I'm so glad my friend Sarah sent me a sample of this so I could satisfy my curiosity without making a trip to the mall or blind-ordering a decant. I could see buying a full (smaller) bottle of this someday, but only if I had a hole for a gourmand scent, which I don't. I don't tend to wear them very often, mostly because whenever I do, my husband asks me if I'm baking and then seems disappointed when I say no.

carla isabel

Absolutely gorgeous! Fresh and sweet, addictive, there's something in D&G fragrances i really love.
It's like light blue with chocolate and orange...

Sandybeachs44

This is gorgeous! Have finally found my signature scent, I used love light blue intense but after while became boring and I wanted some sweetness, this is perfect! It has the fresh and candy sweet iv been after also has a beachy quality to it like a lovely lotion you apply on holiday sitting on your balcony. I can see myself using this day and night aswell as the fall time. It smells unique and kind of candied ginger/ lemon I think it’s the rum that makes it to me adds a creamy depth. Very addictive lemon rum soaked pudding on a beach in the evening with freshness orange blossom dipping in and out. Have bought myself the largest bottle and it’s beautiful please never discontinue this 🙏🙏 also lasting power around 4/5 hours and 12 plus on clothes! Marvellous worth the hype!

lucasthiring

It literally smells like a candy lemon/orange with vanilla cream or something. Such a beautiful yummy scent! Definitely perfect for the summer

Vanillamuscdream

This is a wonderfully delicious fragrance. It has a strong lemon scent at first, but dries down to a lovely cake-like vanilla and smells like a lemon drizzle cake fresh out of the oven. This is probably the first fragrance with a lemon note that I actually like. I’m not a fan of the citrusy, clean smell so it’s great to have this note paired with vanilla rather than floral scents. It performs very well and is incredibly long lasting too but clothing too. I sprayed it on a t-shirt when I tried it and could still smell it after I washed the T-shirt.

dfnseven

The lemon is too annoying for me. A beautiful sweetness is going on but the lemon is just ruining it. The sourness combined with vanilla is making me nauseous.

nordlanderin

Too sweet and headache inducing! Definitely not for the youngs. Also smells really outdated, I recall smelling something of this kind on many women back when I was in nursery (and I was no fan of those smells even back then).

terigurl

My gosh Devotion has me Devoted! She smells so good. Sweet, smooth, clean, slightly boozy/woody, the citrus isn't sharp, it's more gourmand and it's long lasting on my skin. I would wear this every day, but I don't want to run out. My favorite purchase so far this year!

Ainghardt

When I first sprayed it I was like "oh looove it!" but two seconds later the initial sweet but fresh lemon just disappeared and nah I'm not so sure. To me this is almost identical to Lira, and although I like the scent I'm not sure I want to smell like it if that makes sense. I guess I wanted something else. Love the fancy Y2K bottle tho.

Update two weeks later: I changed my mind/nose and now I'm obsessed, so weird.

hennuv

It’s a very sugared candy and sugared fruit thrown into a pot of honey that unfortunately can cause people becoming sick or nauseous if sprayed even a bit too much. The bottle is very beautiful and the spray is very misty but the fragrance itself gives somehow a very cheap or childish vibe and I cannot imagine someone who is an adult wanting to smell like this.

Célia Pais

Delicious ♥️

hexed

Has the same effect as many Ariana Grande fragrances, it's the same fluffiness that's present in Cloud etc. Which is an interesting choice from a more expensive brand, I guess. I don't get any citrus, there's no tartness to balance out and enliven the creaminess and intense sweetness. Makes me think of cartoon babies in a bath, not my vibe at all.

toosimilar

"To all DEVOTED to sweet vanilla-lemon scents"
IMO unremarkable sweet soup

ArkangeL

I found that the heart notes in this fragrance aren't nearly as "devoted" as the top and base. Vanilla forward? Yes, with an obvious candied lemon note that is there from the opening through to the dry down. "Follow your nose" as Toucan Sam says. Many people have claimed to smell Fruit Loops or Fruity Pebbles after smelling Devotion for the very first time. While this wasn't my first impression, the combination of notes can EASILY put you in the mind of children's cereal. At least during the opening. The orange blossom here is quite transparent, as it has been submerged into a pool of vanilla. Think of it as young and sprightly without being juvenile. Devotion is a sweet, youthful and playful fragrance in a stunning vintage-esque bottle.

Schondis

I just got a sample and immediately started searching for a full bottle. I love gourmands and this is just amazing, the citrusy freshness (in a candied form? Maybe freshly candied) and real vanilla. 10/10 although I probably should take away a point for making me want to spend money I haven't got🤣 amazing💜 (I don't know what the longevity is like yet but at this point I don't mind). If you love gourmands, this is a very safe blind buy!

purplesugar

So I haven’t got my hands or shoukd I say my nose on this yet lol but Judgemint by the comments I may get this without smelling it first! A sweet lemon cookie or a lemon cake soaked in rum:) you all described it so perfectly that I’m sold! I did notice lots of you mentioned it only lasts a few hours, but that’s longer than a lemon cake or cookie lasts lol I’m getting this!!!

IloveperfumeJR

If it wasn’t a love at first whiff, let it macerate and come back to it. It gets richer, more vanillac, and you get less sharpness from the lemon. Everything mellows out. The dry down is a straight up crusty, moist lemon rum pound cake. 🤤

s0r1na

This is my first review here because Devotion might be my all time favourite perfume. It takes me right back to the holidays season, as it is a warm, comforting and delicious citrus jelly from those Christmas trees candies. For me it was love at first smell. Sadly, I get almost nose-blind to it and I have to smell my wrists to feel it after a few hours, but other people can still smell it on me after 6-7 hours. The only reason why I am not making it my signature is that I want to keep it as my special gem and only wear it for special occasions or when I need some comfort/ a hug. 10/10 rating!

lilizzie

is it just me that thinks this smells really similar to zara - rose gourmand? but if the rose was switched to a lemon. I do like it but i'm not inlove with it. I'd love it if the lemon stayed but i know citrus is hard to stay within perfume. glad i bought a small 8ml tester before splurging. defo a night time scent

Scentsitivewoman05

For me, right after I sprayed it, I smell the panacotta but in keto way, not sweet just like eggy protein vibe. The lemon is not prominent, and directly it sits close to my skin, not projected well, the scent bubble is not large. The longevity is moderate, I use it indoor and then outdoor from morning till noon and I can still smell it if I sniff the area I sprayed it initially, but again you need to sniff the area you sprayed first since the scent bubble is limited. I bought the travel size and not interested to buy full bottle. For my tropical south asian people, this perfume is not our jam.

Célia Pais

On me this Scent lasts forever. Its really good! I wake up in the next morning and I still feeling 🥰

Avocadochange

Really lovely opening, like a gorgeous lemon cake drizzled in rum. The scent lasted on my skin only about 2 hours, it’s barely a skin scent now. I also get a hint of beeswax in the drydown, and the lemon disappears really quickly. I was very disappointed in this fragrance as I love citrus and gourmand perfumes. It’s a nice fragrance, but the performance is abysmal.

marigoldmarigold

yummy yellow lemon tart cookie

forever wandering and wondering

darkbeauty

My goodness! This is a delightful and delicious rum soaked lemon cake. Yummm! Yes it does remind me of fruit loops as others have mentioned, but only in the opening. But I don’t mind it. That smell makes me feel nostalgic for younger days, and I appreciate it.

Devotion is a mood!
It’s not only cozy, but it’s bright too. Like when you cuddle up with an oversized sweater on a chilly day, and even though it’s a bit colder than you’d like, the sun is still shining bright as ever! That’s the feel this perfume gives.

The candied lemon gives it brightness.
The orange blossom is more orange creamsicle to my nose. I also get the rum which I think makes the vanilla slightly effervescent. There is also a nuttiness that comes through from the rum, sort of like an almond liquor or extract. And the panacotta gives everything a dreamy, creamy dallop of freshly whipped topping. The panacotta is literally the icing on this lemon cake!

Very gourmand to my nose. If you enjoy lemon poppy seed cake or muffins, you might enjoy smelling like one too. 🍋

Full bottle worthy indeed!

Mikki.Lee95

Love love love. Smells like a gorgeous rich lemon and almond cake. I wore this during a recent trip to Rome and actually had someone walk across a busy restaurant to compliment me. I wasn't expecting to love this is as much as I do. When I want to ramp it up more, I layer it with Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte

AmeliaLara

Such a delightful perfume and definitely my favourite D&G offering fragrance wise. The candied lemon smells delicious with the orange blossom and vanilla, but it’s such a disappointment that the longevity isn’t great and the dry down is like others have said, a bit like beeswax

Loevens

Tested on skin from tester in store: This to me smells like if Olympea Solar and Lolita Lempicka Lolitaland had a baby. The lemon in the opening, reminds me of the lemon in Chopard Lemon Dulci, that slightly astringent yet powdery lemon. But it dries down to be very similar to Olympea solar in my opinion. I like it a lot, but I don't need both.

ArianaS

My favourite perfume so far from D &G, totally different DNA. I always found their perfumes boring but this is something different. Completely feminine and elegant. Smells like a vanilla lemon cake, I’m so in love with this one. 🥰

nichoa99

Hard candy lemon. Fruit loops, sugar. The tiny bit of rum makes it more syrupy sweet than Akro- Bake. Bake smells more like a dainty lemon tart dessert, with a buttery crust. Devotion is like a bowl of fruit loops! Candy shop vs. Bakery. Both very yummy, but I prefer Bake.

Libfuck

This smells exactly like Froot Loops™️

SamSweet

Recently got the free tiny bottle in a Sephora order. Wanted to try a fresh bottle after I tried it in-store and had a bad experience, was hoping it was just a bad bottle. On paper it's not that bad, kind of like a lemon Warhead, but I put it on and, on my skin, it smells like a lemon candy that someone spit out, layered with hand sanitizer from 2020. there's this weird almost saliva like note in it that makes it smell musty and sour (maybe that's the beeswax type scent people are mentioning). I wish I liked it and could smell what everyone else does, because it's one of the most popular scents right now and commonly recommended when you ask about a lemon scent. Hard pass for me, I'll stick with Unknown Pleasures and Lira for my lemon gourmand fix

gabriellereina

I’m in love. I picked up a sample of this because I adore the smell of Lush’s Super Milk leave-in conditioner, and saw that this was recommended as a dupe for the scent.

Of course the lemon is the main character of the opening, but after about 10 minutes it settles into a more blended, sweet candy scent. It’s not cloying or juvenile though- it reminds me of feeling carefree during springtime when you have just started a new relationship and you haven’t discovered your new beau’s flaws yet.

Did I say how pretty this is? It feels like it can be worn in almost every season except perhaps summer. Why? I don’t know, but I’ll give it a go in the summer and come back and let you know.

This perfume makes me want to wear a chiffon dress or silk pajamas. My husband currently prefers Burberry Goddess but I hope I can turn him on this one as well. It doesn’t feel as sexy as Goddess, maybe it’s a bit more flirty and innocent.

I have sampled Lira before and personally like Devotion better. Lira lost its lemon when it dried down, and I still notice the lemon in Devotion. It’s more well-rounded and dynamic as well, while Lira seemed to just fade into a basic vanilla on my skin.

In a nutshell- Devotion is a win, from start to finish.

Mira97

I got it today, it's a delicious perfume I'm so in love with it

kallico

Hot buttered rum. Lemon wedding cookies. Delicate orange blossom. Beautiful, vintage looking bottle

vya

i agree that this scent is VERY different on paper than it is on skin, but frankly the smell of lemon cookies in its opening had me sold. the dry down is pretty strange but in a good way to me, what smells like beeswax to most people kind of smells like walking in front of a LUSH store and i don’t mind it at all!

Nadia Musa

This turns into the most delicious lemon pound cake on my skin.I get the orange blossom here and there but for most part it’s just lemon pound cake with some kind of vanilla glaze on top.🍋🍰Very true to it’s notes.

smcintosh

I had high hopes for this based on the reviews. It has a strong start the dries down to a strong beeswax, as many others have noted, with a very mild scent of citrus. I tried to give it a chance to sit on my skin, but even after a few hours it just became a more dulled down version of the same scent. I'm glad I only had this as a tester!

Dark_Venus

I have to agree with two different people on here when they mentioned that they smelled beeswax (at the dry-down) and overripe fruits. I smelled both right away, both in the opening and dry-down. On paper and worse on my skin. I couldn't do it. My body chemistry does not mix well with this one.

swedish_bluebell

Tried this on paper today and I really liked it to begin with, lovely and lemony. But after a while I picked up something I couldn’t place at first, and then it hit me… beeswax! And now that’s all I can smell. Strong sweet honeyed beeswax, like the stuff we used for making candles with in my childhood. Can anyone else smell this? Will try it again on my skin but so far it’s a pass.
