French designer and photographer Thierry Mugler is a pioneer of 80s power fashion. He even made an everlasting mark in the perfume world by introducing the gourmand fragrance family for the first time.

Mugler studied interior design before moving to Paris in his early 20s. He began working as a freelance designer and launched his first collection for women in 1973. He opened his first Paris boutique in 1978 and launched a men’s collection that same year.

Mugler’s love for futuristic but fantasical elements also reflected in his perfume line, which he launched with Angel in 1992. It was a watershed moment in the history of perfumes because no other fragrance had leaned so sweet and food-like prior to that. Angel continues to be a favorite and boasts many flankers as of today. Mugler launched his first official scent for men, A*Men, in 1996.

The brand has collaborated with renowned perfumers like Christophe Laudamiel, Alberto Morillas, Quentin Bisch, Dominique Ropion, Nathalie Lorson, Francoise Caron, Sonia Constant, Olivier Polge, Alexis Dadier, Karine Dubreuil-Sereni, and Serge Majoullier.
