      Critics Consensus

Mechanical animation and a less-than stellar script make The Clone Wars a pale shadow of George Lucas' once great franchise.

Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com The movie really is just a series of long emotionless action scenes. That's really all this movie is. Rated: C- May 1, 2018 Full Review Joe Williams St. Louis Post-Dispatch The "Star Wars" franchise has become what the marketing executive always thought: an excuse to steal money from children. The Lucas empire has finally succumbed to the Dark Side. Jan 4, 2018 Full Review Michael Ordoña Los Angeles Times Despite some absolutely gorgeous animation and adjusting expectations for what Clone Wars is meant to be, the Force is not strong with this one. Nov 16, 2015 Full Review Christian Eulinberg InSession Film This is a film I always find myself going back to due to its comedic moments and amazing action scenes. Sep 26, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Not a friendly flick for anyone who hasn't stayed on top of the Bunyanesque, expanded universe timeline. Ash P Okay, as first time I've seen this, I do see why folks do not like this film. Now, I wouldn't say it's worse than say Phantom Menace or Caravan of Courage. Still some solid animation, some decent action and I do enjoy the bonding between master and padawan with Anakin and Ahsoka since this is her debut. Of course, the story is a mess and it does drag on a bit while a bit rushed in a few spots, even when this is a prequel for the series itself. All this was an hour and a half long episode, more or less. I have seen worse films and I do say this is one of the weakest films of the whole Star Wars franshice. 4/10. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review the edmerald m So before airing The Clone Wars tv show, Lucasfilm decided it would be a smart idea to take three or four of their already finished episodes and combine them into one movie. Unfortunately, these were not four good episodes. This was the first introduction of Ahsoka Tano, who is now regarded as one of the greatest Star Wars characters. But she got off to a very rough start in this movie. Rotta the Hutt was also not helping this movie. No one wanted to see a baby Jabba. But yet here we are. As we all know, the animation for The Clone Wars wasn’t the greatest at first. This movie was an hour and a half of that animation. If this was a tv movie, I would have cut it some slack. But since Lucasfilm released this to theaters, and wanted people to pay to watch this, I will cut it very little slack. Overall, this movie is not the worst thing ever made. But it has more weaknesses than it does strengths. 4/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Aiden P Overall an extremely rushed an flawed movie. Forever paints a bad light on the masterpiece that is the TV show that this movie kicked off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Platty the Perrypus W Wow, that flopped. Clearly the TV show follow-up isn't gonna be successful, right? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Chris M Another great addition to the saga. Loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Sebastian S This movie was awfully boring and it looked liked a TV show episode not a movie.
