Love, love! Normally i really don't like fruity scents but this is an exception. And beside that it resembles, not the same, a lot my beloved le Roy de Soleil of Dali. I remember now i had bought this because of the resembles. But now i have a full vintage bottle of le Roy also. So i'm super happy with these both very loud, fruity and flowery perfume. I think the Dali is slightly more loud and flowery the Marina is more on the fruity side. Projection is good. I will wear this perfume with joy and happiness😁♥️

This is fragrance for classy, sensual woman. Sweet ylang- ylang, but at the same time fruitiness in a retro way..yes, hint of retro. Makes it a bit outdated, but why not? Its not boring! Nowadays you don't find much similar fragrances. I could hardly compare it with anything else. Does not reminds anything from the list "This perfume reminds me of" either..

What would the doll-like Claudia from Interview with a Vampire (1994) wear?

Perhaps this biting peach scent with classic French perfumery vibes & vintage flair: this1994 Floral Fruity of cassis-vanilla-peach with ylang & raspberry has a bite to it and some classic French perfumery vibes. The mood & tone here matches the film Interview With a Vampire (1994), starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt & Kirsten Dunst, that came out the same year. I could imagine Kirsten Dunst's character Claudia, wearing this after being changed into a doll-like princess vampire.

Opens with some classic French perfumery touches, and a burst of cassis with its characteristic bitter-green, tart & ammonia tones, and already there are some fruity nuances swelling through. A few minutes into the opening lemon & watermelon are distinguishable, but they're supporting the cassis-fruit with an overall vibe of the pucker-worthy underside of peach-skin. As it transitions to the heart, floral tones emerge from ylang & jasmine and help to elaborate the bitter-peach vibe. While ylang engorges the fruit, jasmine brings a clean white-floral facet that reads nearly like peach fuzz. As it's drying down, you get a further elaboration of the bitter peach with peach-skin, juicy flesh and vanillic sweetness. Alongside all of this there is a vintage leaning classic French perfumery vibe. While this isn't a dupe of anything, it has reminders for me of So de la Renta Oscar de la Renta, Gucci Rush Gucci & Bitter Peach Tom Ford. Has well above average performance for year round wear.

Contrast to Bitter Peach Tom Ford:
These are different, but there are similarities with a bitter peach vibe. Bitter Peach Tom Ford is richer & sweeter with a more forward woody accord and boozy quality, while Princesse Marina de Bourbon has a more vintage vibe. Both have good performance.

Overall: gorgeous bitter peach scent with vintage vibe and excellent performance. It's a love for me. Vintage peach lovers, enjoy!

Unbelievable long lasting perfume. I feel it on myself all the time and for 24 hours! Unfortunately even I liked it first it gives me some discomfort feeling overtime. Wish I'd like it more, as how long lasting it is amazing! Wish all perfumes were like this.

When I tried this aroma in shop, I immediately went to look for a similar one, but more expensive. Couldn't find anything, so I had no choice but to buy this. I really loved the smell but I knew there's probably gonna be one problem and I wasn't wrong.

The smell itself is amazing, great balance of peach and vanilla, but performance is plain awful. It's just isn't there, you have to apply buckets of this to achieve some consistent presence and acceptable sillage. Which is shame, for such a lovely scent

amandavolpe

Sour gummy bears and white flowers. Very lovely.

charlotte_twister

Nice. Reminds me of sleepless nights at a cruise ship. Wandering around with not much to do besides people watching. Who stays longer at the casino, who's the cutest concierge, dadada. Being loudly alone in a bright, warm-lit place. In a good way, not a revolting way, like painful family galas, no. You fled the herd and you're at your prime. And for the first time, a dress you borrowed fit you well. Dress, nightgown, tomato tomato.

Aha - It's wearing your mothers off-white satin nightgown for out-of-bed purposes. Dreamy and nightmareish. I'm seeing the cover art for the 1982 Poltergeist, the little girl reaching to the TV screen. Disconnectivity, immaturity, and beauty in between. The criminal act of stealing from a vanity. Pure heirloom. And it does travel you back to the 90s with grace.

Cassis is immediate and lovely. The rest I take as a flower salad. Soft spicy and woody. Cool colors, despite the overall vibe being warm.

Protest! Treat younger women with sophisticated cosmetics again! MDB is a gem.

Fruity start and pine end ... very interesting transformation. Longevity and sillage is O.K. Definitely winter and autumn scent. Basic notes are heavy, so be careful to use in summer. I have it, but I can't understand whether I like it or not, some musky notes stop me from loving it.

My friend wore this in high school (1997-8), I remember it was sweet fruity and sparkly with qualities like gentle cotton candy, but still a bit grown up for her, it does smell like lady. I loved it

This is a batch review for 6 perfumes I own from PMdB. In general, it is safe to generalize that most PMdB perfumes are generic and synthetic smelling (not in a bad way), bright and uplifting, youthful and carefree, best used for spring and summer w poor to moderate staying power and soft sillage.

Fundamentally, they are the kinds of scent that are not designed to be innovative, interesting, different, showstopping or anything for that matter, just something nice, unoffensive, nondescript, and crowd-pleasing. Don't let the relatively complex notes pyramid of each MPdB fragrance mislead you - The scents are quite linear and most are too soft and fade too quickly to really deliver any development of notes.

MARINA DE BOURBON (yellow bottle): the only one among the MPdB bunch I own that can be described as evening / nighttime fragrance and for cooler / colder days. It smells kind of old-school and mature (but not in a granny way) which is totally not the case with the vast majority of MPdB scents. I don't necessarily hate it, but I won't reach out to using it, either (It triggered a mild headache both times I used it). I find this scent to be best for ladies above 40 and for more formal events. Longevity and sillage are the best compared to any other perfumes produced by MPdB.

----------------------------------------------
PINK PRINCESSE (pink bottle w fancy cap): I’d call this ‘orange princesse’ instead cuz the scent starts out pretty tangy, then it mellows a bit, but remains a sour scent till completely fades away. Refreshing and light. Your typical citrusy body spray for summer. Definitely not a sweet, fruity, rosy scent to me as the main accords show above. Body chemistry is really everything when it comes to perfume.

PARADISE LYS (orange bottle): Similar to Pink Princesse, Paradise Lys also has a tangy opening but comes w a touch of fruity notes, which makes it less flat and less synthetic smelling. Once settled, however, the two scents are so similar that I often can't tell if I use Paradise Lys or Pink Princesse on that day. Paradise Lys has much poorer longevity and sillage compared to Pink Princesse. A safe scent for hot summer days.

REVERENCE (yellow bottle w fancy cap): Reverence to my nose is the most "proper" perfume from MPdB in the sense that it smells less of a good quality body spray / body splash and more like a true perfume - Still very generic but at least a true modern perfume scent, that's what I mean. Not a dupe of Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue, but it does remind me of that vibe for some reason. Reverence has better longevity and sillage than most MPdB perfumes and is suitable for both daytime and nighttime usage. I would advise against using on extremely hot and humid days, however.

MARINA BLUE (light blue bottle w fancy cap): My first perfume from this brand. I was given 20 vial samples of it when I was an impressionable university student and was hooked. As I grew older, the scent doesn't have that wow effect on me anymore obviously, but I do find myself wanting to mist my body in it sometimes, especially on hot, humid summer days when I just get out of the shower or before bedtime. It is a fresh, aquatic floral scent on my skin w a very, very faint sweetness (no tartness like Pink Princess or Paradise Lys mentioned below).

EAU DE LYS (light purple bottle): All I can say about Eau de Lys is that it is fresh and soft, too soft, almost like an extremely subtle soap scent that lingers on your skin for roughly 5 minutes after showering then disappears completely. It is definitely not woody, rosy, or fresh spicy at all to my nose. I don't smell any amber, either. A very forgettable, non-offensive scent.

.... after all these years ..... finally my beloved Marina De Bourbon is back again in my wardrobe :))

To me, the sweet fruits came first, than it's the cassis and peach, and than the vanilla. And than the rest of the goodies ;p

I think this perfume fits everybody of all ages and genders, 10/10 >oo

One of things i appreciate the most in Fragrantica is search for resemblances between perfumes. For me, this is very similar to the great Le Roy soleil by Salvador Dalí wich i like more than MB. Anyway, both are beautiful perfumes.

TheAlcoholiday

I had a mini sitting on the bathroom shelf from my mother's collection. Situated in between many iconic and warm musky scents, this one doesn't stand out that much. I put it on my skin and my initial reaction to it was to slightly recoil from the sharp and sweet fruity floral scent. It is reminiscent of a young girl on a day out for herself. She is pleasant and curious, and this smell grows to be very welcoming.

After a few hours, the scent still lingers on the skin in a muted sense of its former, sharper self. It smells like a comfortable friend, with the rounded notes of ylang, jasmine, and vanilla more pronounced. Overall, I like this scent on my skin. It has a light projection and the longevity isn't amazing.

gardencat13

@KV55 I agree. I can’t figure out what notes it is that make me feel that way but whenever I spray it on it reminds me of Christmas!
It’s not the most exciting or innovative scent I own but it is a nice fruity floral that Is not overly sweet and that I enjoy wearing and that ephemeral Christmas note is quite charming.

KV55

It smells like Christmas.

Sometimes it's difficult to describe something or someone very special to our hearts? I guess I still haven't said a word about this fragrance for that specific reason. It's hard to explain why I like this perfume so much for well over 20 years. It's nothing ground-breaking. It's not expensive or super-sophisticated. The bottle is a little awkward, too. But to me it's a dear old friend that always fills my heart with the most pleasant emotions every time I smell it. Maybe because I connect it to a happy careless time in my life. Maybe because it was one of my first perfumes ever and a gift from my parents. It is definitely the perfume that started my love for so-called gourmand scents. It is fruity and sweet and fresh and spicy at the same time - great in both summer and winter. Such a signature 90s scent, too. Sweet and fruity, but not syrupy or candy-like. Enveloping, nostalgic, and a little heavy, but not suffocating. Old school, but not old-fashioned though. Tried and true love of mine.

Mona Lygre

It's just a very pleasant and lovely perfume, and I love it =))

Brynn Penelope Harrell

My aunt had that!

tsorionti

This is such a beautiful perfume. Was not sure reading description as I am not fan of sweet fruity and flowery, but this is so different suffisticated perfume. All the notes blended so well, and it is so French... Love it! I am positive no one will regret buying this.

shauna.parra

A gift from a dear girl friend of mine

This is a beautiful sweet fruity fragrance. Definitely meant to be worn in the middle of summer, 4th of July, when the air is warm and the bikinis are out. Smells like Santa Monica pier with the Ferris Wheel. In comparison to today's sweet fragrances or celebrescents, not as sugary or gourmand. It's a 1990's fragrance with more in common with such perfumes as Chloe Narcisse & Deci Dela. Smells more like Deci Dela. It also has a bit of Tocade by Rochas. The sweetness never gets too be a headache.

The first spritz of Marina is a tart lemon merengue with a grape like cassis and an aquatic watermelon. Very fresh but sweet and zesty. The summer vibe is there from the start. Then it turns into a very big passion fruit, a bit tropical, delicious with exotic fruits probably papaya and kiwi, some coconut, and banana. The banana note is probably there because ylang ylang flowers smell like banana. There's a little white jasmine but it's mostly ylang. The peach and raspberry are also there. Delicious peach and raspberry. This is a fruit cocktail and fruit punch. In the dry down all I get is a vanilla but I'm so glad I love vanilla! Smells so good. I don't care if it's outdated. Love the look of the bottle too. Never had anything like this in my collection.

I wish this fragrance lasted longer. Because it has very minimal support from base notes like musk or woods it has a light projection and very short life. It's a very innocent and sweet fruit perfume that has more of a body mist quality to it. It smells good on your hair too like a good hair spray. The body mist is not a problem but it was getting to be so enjoyable with all the fruits that I wish it lasted longer like FEMME by Rochas which is my favorite. This is not bad though while it's on you. Great for a casual lunch with girlfriends by the beach.

ScarlettX

This is very good and interesting for such a cheap perfume. Reminds me of waterpipe and fruits.
The best of Marina de Bourbon's fragrances.
Similar to some Salvador Dali's perfumes.
Like!

Fragrance Review For Marina De Bourbon

Top Notes: Cassis lemon watermelon

Middle Notes: Passion fruit jasmine ylang-ylang

Base notes: Vanilla, raspberry, peach exotic fruits

Passion fruit is a note I've recently come to appreciate. It smells like tropical fruit and that's the vibe I get this from fragrance, it's tropical, aquatic, and a distinctly feminine fruity floral perfume. If you like fruity florals and that's your bag, this stuff delivers the goods. First of all I love the bottle. Makes a pretty vanity dresser table item. The fragrance itself is the type that I normally don't wear because it's rather too fruity but something about this frag kept pulling me and pulling me back into it's beautifully fragrant fruitiness. The passion fruit is what most stands out on me. Then I smell a lot of peach. There is hardly any flowers in this one although others can probably detect the jasmine and ylang-ylang. I would say that there is a noticeable ylang-ylang but it's subdued, soft and letting the fruits take over. This smells exotic, sweet but simple, even a tad innocent. Easy for a young girl to wear ages 15 to 20. A nice introduction to perfume type of perfume. It's a summer fragrance to wear when you want to smell really good out in the sun in warm climates. This "princess" is not European. She's Caribbean. Sweet and very beautiful fragrance. I was wearing this last week and someone asked me what I was wearing. When I told her, she said she hadn't heard of it. Come on you guys no one's ever heard of this beauty? Well now you have. Try it. You'll love it.

Southern Blonde

Delicious.

I can smell the watermelon at the first spritz and passion fruit. There's also tons of raspberry vanilla and peach. Mostly it's a fruity perfume for the day time. Light, inoffensive and very sweet. Of the flowers I can smell the ylang-ylang. The whole thing smells fresh sweet and stays that way too. No dark woods. No woods, no oak moss, no patchouli. No incense. No musk. Purely sweet fruits. The whole thing does tend to turn into a kind of fruit scented shampoo but I don't mind that at all. I especially love the vanilla in this perfume which comes toward the end giving everything the right edge. Definitely a summer scent as I associate fruits with summer and flowers with spring. I wish this had been more flowery but it's nice how it is. 30 bucks on Fragrance X the price is very good and you do get a good perfume. Love it.

Awesome blind buy for me. Smells wonderful. Very pleased!

I had this back in 1996/97 and never really wore it. Always was curious to try it again, but it was hard to find one. Absolutely love it. I miss perfumes of 80/90 that used to make a statement.
I would say it's best for winter due to its warm, fuzzy and very strong silage. And what a story behind it!

2023
Re-purchased it and find new never felt note in it. Absolutely beautiful fragrance for any season, which is quite rare. White knitted sweater for the winter, white stockings with lace for spring, mead (honey alcohol drink), Graf faber castle pencils, Florence, leather notebook, Venice brioche... List goes on and on. Fabulous scent for next to nothing price.

lotus and jasmine

@pattyk- initially (first 30s) the watermelon is very intense. I recommend spraying MdB and then walking into a different room. By the time the alcohol evapoates, the watermelon will be gone :)

This was one of my first perfumes, bought as a teen. I still love it, although it is more of a special date night perfume than a signature scent at my age. MdB starts off with a LOUD watermelon note, which fades rapidly (thank heavens). The lemon, ylangylang and passion fruit show up next, and stick around for a while. Eventually, MdB becomes a soft, WARM, subtle scent, full of ashy jasmine, vanilla, and peach, the sort of scent that will have your sweetheart tucking his or her nose into your throat. Definitely a good "cuddle" perfume.

This is ultra feminine without being too young. The dry down has an interesting incense-like feel to it, very soft/ashy in tone. It's not powdery (I can't abide powdery scents) but there is something about the way the notes combine that provides a more sophisticated dark tone than the notes would lead you to expect. It is a sweet scent, and in warm weather can be VERY strong as your skin heats. Not something I would recommend for office wear, but excellent for a night out. For me, the raspberry and exotic fruits do not appear. It definitely has a spiciness to it, reminiscent of sandalwood. On my skin MdB reads like a fruity oriental. I'm a fan.

pattyk

Can you smell the watermelon in this? I hate that smell and if I bought a perfume with that smell in it....I can't say what would happen. Anyone???? Let me know soon. Thank you!

Vanilla, Peach, Jasmin, YlangYlang and Melon. A bit heavy, A bit sweet, a bit wonderful! I don't usually like sweet fruity notes in my scents but here - wow, great! I hade this parfume many years ago and now I found it again. A keeper!
Very longlasting on my skin, and it lasts for several days if you spray it on a jumper.

Hellita

I used to love this when I was a lot younger, and at that time this juice felt actually a bit too mature for me considering my age (13 years).

When I saw this again in here I had an instant whiff of happiness and decided that I might have to order a bottle of it just to smell it again and I know it'll take me back in time.

I slightly remember this being a warm, very sweet, but cozy and rather confident scent. Hence I'm thinking that I might like this even better now since I suspect to have grown into this kind of scents (almost 15 years later). It's not girly/young-sweet, more mature sweetness if that makes sense.

I'll come back with an update and review if/when I decide to order a bottle :)

To jest naprawdę piękny perfum.Gdy się nim psiknęłam mąż zapytał co tak pięknie pachnie.Zapach ciasteczek , pierniczków z owocami i wanilią miodową.Na Boże Narodzenie pasuje najbardziej....
It's good perfum for winter and CHRISTMAS.I'm so happy i've got this perfum. It so sweet , fruity, wanilia, honey and watermelon...

mildspicej17u55l

This is something that is definitely going to get a guy's attention. This on is absolutely amazing. Smells like a black cherry candle, thats been snuffed out so you get a sweet candle wax incense vibe from it. Something about it reminds me of christmas. This is a true gem.

mad.kat.96

light sweet floral, slightly fruity and just a touch aquatic, I dont get any pepper.. I do like the smell but only a skin level scent and gone in an hour (at most) on my acidic skin..

The bottle is pretty but a space hog as it's so short, 4" and 5" wide but only 2" deep. If not for the little diamond shaped base it would be hard to hold & use.

It's winter, i will try again in summer and hope its stronger & longer lasting then =(

MirageMirage

Wow! I can't believe it- this one actually smells almost identical to Le Roy Soleil by Salvador Dali!

lisa.e.alexandrea

Finally....i got this perfume yesterday. My friend bought it in USA ...and send me this perfume. Love it so much.....

miaou

Can't really explain why, but this smells festive and christmasy to me!
My mother had this when i was a child, and i bought this for my husband's aunt's birthday a few months ago, but my love to Princesse Marina de Bourbon developed only when i got a decant in a swap and tried it on myself! Though i prefer green and herby fragrances, this is definitely bottle-worthy. Total love. Very enjoyable fragrance.

P.S. Now this is my sister's fave fragrance too. She's only fourteen! My hubby's aunt is in fer fifties. I'm 22. See, everybody loves it!

lisa.e.alexandrea

Best parfume ever. Love it so much. It smells like a glass of wine. So delicious....

mwallwork

What starts out as an ode to cassis ends as a soft, slightly warm flower and fruit melody. When I first bought this perfume, my uneducated nose enjoyed the fruity and sweetly floral accord, but I did not notice the individual notes. My approach then to perfume was a light touch (lest one offend)- one spritz to one wrist.

Those were the days of loud and sometimes garish fragrances and on more than one occasion, I was suffocated on an elevator or enchanted by the fragrance trail of a passerby. These days of so called light and aquatic mists encourage denser applications and layering. Personally, I lean toward some middle ground of scent strength. I'd like compositions in a fragrance that will last all day, but I'm willing to reapply should the need arise.

That said, for my test of this EDP I applied three spritzes. This perhaps bordered on too much for Marina de Bourbon however, I wanted to really smell this perfume, not just sniff sedately.

I usually consider top notes to be for the wearer. These highly volatile ingredients strike your nose first and then evaporate away shortly after the alcohol. Some may linger in a diminished capacity depending on the choices of the perfume's creator.

In Marina de Bourbon, black currant is the opening note that drowns all others. With just the faintest of acknowlegment to tart lemon (cassis is also very tart) and no presence of watermelon, black currant steals the show. It expresses a classic black currant profile from tart, grapey fruitiness, cassis leaf redundency and even to the not unpleasant scent of cat urine at the end of its run. The florals and fruits join the cassis, but do not express strongly enough initially to overcome the pervasive and tenacious black currant.

What remains in the ultimate drydown is the accord that I enjoy the most in MdB. Predominant are the sweet florals and sugary fruits on a base of soft vanilla, not too powdery, but as a sweet flavoring for the fruit. The cassis at this stage is a vague balancing scent to keep the overall composition from becoming a total diabetic's nightmare. Give it time and you, too will reach this comfort zone.

Marina de Bourbon belongs in the perfume chest of any lover of black currant. In fact, I would consider it a celebration of the small black berry with all its complicated olfactory profile intact. In this presentation, it does not overwhelm the wearer, but reminds one of the unique place black currant has in perfumery.

LiLoLiLo

This perfume is so so sweet,it's a warm vanilla scent! I'm in love with it!

It is one of my tops of my collection. It's chic, fixed for hours, is sweet and floral in the right, a perfect balance of these two main notes.
Where are all at home while intoxicated, the house is perfumed.
It is sickening, is not invasive, but is present.
I love all the perfumes of this brand.
Use day or night, even on hot days here in BRAZIL, and I only get compliments.

Jillzilla

Through the combination of honey and grape notes, this perfume replicates the very intense and very sweet smell of crushed grapes. When I first tested it, I was taken aback by the aroma, but once I was able to recognize the aroma as a memory, I felt at ease with the fragrance overall. The ylang-ylang and black currant notes are present in the opening, but they don't overpower. This fragrance is more about the honey and grapes. It softens up a bit in the dry-down, where the fragrance becomes more balanced. I think it can easily be worn in warmer spring or autumn weather, without being overpowering. I recently re-tested it on a sunny 70F day, and it was perfect!

My husband, who is a great lover of wines, sniffed my wrist and declared "that smells exactly like the harvest in Napa!"

I do need to make a note that I had originally received a sample of this fragrance that had "turned", and the top notes were utterly destroyed, giving the fragrance a varnish-like smell, along with the grapes. It was horrendous. If you experience a similar "varnish" note, I encourage you to seek out a fresh bottle before you decide how you feel about the fragrance!

Mooniq

A favourite I had several years ago. Warm, fruityflowervanilla scent. No sharp or edgy notes. I think this is a scent with wiffs of 80's and the 90's.

En favorit jag bar för många år sen. Varm, fruktblommigvaniljdoftande parfym. Inga skarpa eller tunga noter. Ger en fläkt av 80 - och 90 tal.

Fizzy

Sacrebleu, if this is a honey fragrance, then I am the bumblebee...

MayaraFariasM

I'm sorry for the lovers. But I need to tell the truth, I felt it's the worst perfume ever, and everybody around me said the same thing. It's really awfull. I don't like any Marina de Bourbon's fragrance. :(

ps. It's just an opinion, and I think it's not welcome for brazilian girls.

mercy eve

This is my signature fragrance,I absolutely love this perfume.Im gonna be wearing this for a long time.

Nathalia

Exquisite!... but only for the first ten minutes!
: )

I agree with those who wrote it smells like sweat. That's exactly the impression I had after the nice top notes were gone (only 10 or 15 minutes!).

I don't know how people can detect grape in this. I rather smell peach or apricot.

ruivademinas

It reminds me so much of Night Jasmine! They were very common on gardens back when I was a kid... It reminds me of my childhood! I still haven't made my mind about the perfume, I have to make a proper review about it after I use it a little bit more!

gixxergirl

does anybody remember the marina du bourbon perfume that smelled of chocolate and had a light gold mist inside as well i had a bottle about 10 years ago and i have nenver been able to get another!!!!!

Belil

Sweet bomb with an extremely great staying power.
I love it mostly in the first minutes of aplication, it's extremy sweet with honey, but the grape somewhat balances it out, so mostly I get honey, tonka, vanilla and grapes.
Strictly to be used on skin only, because on clothes it becomes sickeningly sweet and can stay in for weeks, and I can even smell it after laundry. Use sparingly and avoid hot weather and you should do just fine.

Amethyste

Like delphine67 said, I smell so much sweat, sweat in a bottle plus a sweet-tangy hint. To me, one of the worsts scents ever. I clearly don't recommend blind buys.

Halvah

It's unusual, pretty, elegant, fruity and SWEET. I liked it first, and liked an hpur later, but I still smelled the overwhelming sweetness even the next day, and that was really too much for my nose. A gorgeus perfume, great quality, beautiful box and nice bottle (not the cap), good price, but I can't wear it. It's a pity.

cinsot

Inside the over-sized striped perfume box which resembles a stage prop there sits a gigantic rather garish frosted glass clunky vessel filled with unassuming yellow liquid.

My initial reaction to my most recent blind purchase (naughty I know) was exaggerated regret bordering on a deep sense of remorse. I assumed I had made an error based on the look of this thing, despite being seduced by the reviews and note listing.

After tentatively extracting this somewhat tacky bad joke of a perfume (or so I thought) I bravely aimed the nozzle at my cleavage and pressed the trigger with my eyes closed almost afraid to look!

I opened my eyes in a flash! Such an intriguing aroma! I sprayed my left inside crook and then my right, inhaling the desirable aroma, my mind going into overdrive mustering memories of some of my favourite things: sweet Yellow Box honey, late harvest Zinfandels, Prince's Purple Rain and Grape Hubba-Bubba Bubblegum.

I had released a fluid compilation of cherished guilty pleasures. Marina De Bourbon smelled gorgeous!

The sweet nectar that is MDB, loves me! I have oozed sweet sensuality all day with a warm subtle spicy aroma keeping the glucose syrupy quality grown-up and very adult.

This is a feelgood perfume and exhibitionistic to boot.

Splendid Stuff!

Very good! It seems like "Initial EDP" Boucheron. Flowers and honey in harmony. Delicious!

The opening to me smells like Night jasmine (Cestum nocturnum) in full bloom. Suave, rich, exhilarating.
Can't wear it on regular basis but I like it a lot.

olga1780

So far the only quality fragrance from Marina! No wonder it stood the test of time. Pretty long lasting in comparison to her latest releases.

For a perfume created in the 90's this is very modern! Honey and spices - really nicely done. Strong and impressive opening (I get quite a bit of pepper), but gets a lot weaker as it dries down. On the whole, it is quite seductive and alluring. It is certainly not your usual type of perfume smell, definitely has something unique about it. I wish it retained its character in the dry down but alas - the dry down comes rather quickly and is not as impressive.

Perfect for winder as it is a very warm and sweet scent. I couldn't wear it all the time through. It is very rich and would become overpowering if I wore frequently. Because of that, I wish it came in smaller bottles - 100ml seems way too much and the bottle is quite bulky and clumsy.

candymarie

The opening is refreshingly sweet and fruity with a hint of spice, then it quickly dries down into something more elegant, tempered by the other notes.

For me, it has one foot in the present and one in the past. Somewhere between vintage and modern. Which is a good thing!

It doesn't have signature potential for me (being so far outside of my green floral comfort zone), but I certainly enjoy it enough to wear a few times a month when the mood hits. And that's saying a lot for a green floral gal.

Nice, soft, floral and not overly sweet. I was expecting a bit more from this from the notes listed and reviews, ah, can't win them all. Marina De Bourbon is sort of nondescript, nothing really stand-out or earth shattering, a pleasant fragrance but not for me.

gesch

all I smell is honey/vanilla, grapes and some woods. In other words: GREAT and yummy, and fruity without being childish, easy but at the same time interesting, glue for my nose to my wrist!
Great and stunning fragrance with decent staying power and sillage.

A very elegant and deep fragrance. Floral, a bit sweet to someone maybe. Like a blooming flower bouquet! reminds me a bit of Sonia Rykiel´s peach sweater bottle fragrance and a bit of Mugler´s Angel.

I sampled this at a beauty store and ran to wash it off my skin! This perfume is horrific, disgusting and induces vomiting!

Cheryl5406

I don't love this but I do like it - at first it has a butterscotch aroma that's very comforting, then it settles into a nice powdery vanilla floral. Not too overbearing for office but also not anything special. Gotta love the price but gotta hate the awkward bottle (spraying becomes a game of Twister that's not fun)...

delphine67

Ive try't this one today and I totally dislike it.It has a very strange note that smells like old sweat to me. this is definatly not a scent I should wear

Marina de Bourbon is such a beautiful ode to grapes! This perfume has this bountiful richness of ripe grapes radiating with sunshine and sweetness. I can picture a beautiful Tuscan villa surrounded by miles and miles of vineyards. The succulent heavy grapes are bathing in sunshine and getting ready to be transformed into delicious wines. The sky is clear, the bees are buzzing and there is this sweet gorgeous smell of August in the air.

The ylang-ylang is prominent in the beginning. It is well complimented by rose and blackcurrant. The heart notes are pure delight. The grapes are the main lead with everything else designed to provide a nice compliment. I love the choice of vanilla, ginger, pepper and honey to compliment the grapes. This works exceedingly well for me. Vanilla and Tonka bean are in the base notes but I do think that the grapes continue to stay in the base notes also.

Wine tasting is my big hobby. I was very happy to find a perfume that captures the essence of the grapes so well. I would classify this as delicious and unique scent.

unapol

Elegant fruity scent with peppery notes. Really distinctive fragrance and I feel like a lady from higher society when wear it.

Ah! Marina is my latest addition to my perfume closet.

I came across this adorable perfume in a indie perfume shop. I fell in love instantly with the sweet, rather fruity smell. The dry down smells alot like some sort of champange chocolate that lies on a plate in a Parisian salon.
Actually the entire perfume reminds me of a Parisian salon from the early Belle Epoque. Where the aristocracy mingles and drinks champange.

This is a great scent for someone who really loves Grapes. The vanilla and grape are such a nice combination. I do pick up the pepper and ginger too, and I love it because it is spicy. I hate hate hate the bottle though????

Malegria

Finally got a bottle to refresh my fond memories. What can I say? It is still sunny, honey-like, fruity - lovely! I finally understood that the grapes there is Isabella grapes - not very sweet, slightly astringent. There is something really cheery about this scent.Try and see for yourself!

MirabelleJee

Love it so much! It smells through the box and smells greatly. Thanks, that vanilla isn't nasty there. It's more fruity and not too sweet.

PricklyAndHot

Most of all I feel something like the grape stones note in this fragrance. Also I feel the black currant, ylang-ylang, ginger, honey and amber notes here as the most noticeable for me. This fragrance is very warm and sweet enough. It is not one of my favorite fragrances, but I really like it. I think that this grape note really makes this fragrance original enough in comparing with many other fragrances.

soniamcalear

Way too French smelling for me! Its back to the Boucheron smell to me. Im not a big fan of French rich scents. As stated before, its not awful but not wonderful to me either-somewhere in the middle.

Moyra

Absolutely love this, the black currant amber, vanilla and ylang ylang somehow morph into the only violet scent I have ever enjoyed.
I believe its this violet note that gives this beautiful, elegant and unusual scent its "old fashioned" feel, although I don't find it old fashioned at all, just unique and very well made.
Definitely a new staple in my spring/summer scent wardrobe, however, it does not have the staying power of Marina de Bourbon's Rouge Royal (another great scent from this house!) and does require spraying your clothing and reapplying during the day.

Sinica

What I like with this perfume is the unusual sweetness, not a sweetness that we know in so-called modern perfumes. This perfume is between a girlie juice and an elegant liquid. It is good for day wear, but not enough glamorous for night. It is just lovely. But I hate the grotesque bottle!

Adriana_87

This brings some memories,my older sister had this.It was great on her,its sweet and peppery,i can really smell the grapes in it.Very nice and classic for the elegant woman, kinda like dolce vita. This is more spicy though

elli

I like the classic and stylish feel of the scent and the absence of the overwhelming cheap bubble gum sweet wannabe-sexiness of the more modern fragrances. Great for a night or even for certain days when you want to feel glamorous, sexy but sophisticated and mysterious.

kayka

i bought it... i can't remember when.. i loved it, but not anymore :(
i think, this perfume is for mature women.

Malegria

Sweet and unusual! I strongly feel clementine peel in it, though it must be a combination of black currant and something else.I used it in wintertime 11 years ago, and it really goes well with the snow, christmas spirit, crispy cold weather. The funny side of it is that being so sweet, it maintains some very fresh notes to it (I blame it on the clementine-peel feeling and ginger).I would not mind trying to wear it again!

PR

wow, can't believe it, it is here:))) I bought it as a present to my mother 1994 while still in my early teens. Sweet, elegant, on the heavier side as I recall. I remember I liked it at the beginning, my mom sort of like it too, but after a while I noticed it started to annoy me a little. I am wondering if my mother genuinely liked it or just spared my feelings...

Bibi

Marina de Bourbon starts with sweet notes. After 5 minutes, it becomes spicy and later on, quite dry. Pepper notes are really clear to me. Average lasting.
