The scent of Rose and Rum is very strong, as soon as I sprayed it, it came up and surprised me a bit. However, I am a girl who loves fresh Roses, so this is not my preference.

The inicial note is quite sharp: this is not gentle, noble rose - much more syrupy, artificial imitation. After a while, when rose is settled in rum-vanilla gourmand base, the scent becomes more appealing, calm and supports a good mood.
It doesn't reflect niche quality much, but presents a nice composition. I enjoyed wearing it: it is clean, feminine and romantic fragrance.
Maybe, in a calm and sunny spring morning, its chance will come again...

I hold high expectations for this perfume based on the notes, scent profiles, and reviews. However, upon the initial spray, I detect a sharp, somewhat alcoholic opening akin to 'powdered medication,' which I believe coming from the rum note. Unfortunately, this medicinal rum note taints the entire experience for me, preventing me from enjoying the crisp, fruity aroma of the rose and pear that others seem to perceive. I'm uncertain whether I received a flawed sample or if the perfume indeed produces this particular scent on my skin.

Car freshener was the first thing I smelled as well, without even looking at the review below beforehand. Sorrows, prayers

imegaphone

Slightly sour, spicy rose mixed with a synthetic musky powder, I don't like this. It smells like a car air freshener taxi drivers use.

This is a sweet, creamy vanillic rose. The rose note definitely stands out, but the gourmand touches make it less straightforward. This has a smokiness to it, so although it's not a particularly heavy fragrance, I can see it being too much on a hot day. For 3 out of 4 seasons, though, it'll be pretty easy to wear.

I love this, right now thinking from memory, it reminds me of Roses Musk but I think it's much better. I need to compare them side by side to see if it's FBW, but I find it super addictive.

It's funny how perfumes change with weather changes. I tried this perfume in spring and it was too heavy and almost hated it... probably that day was too hot and the rum note was too strong for my taste. Now we are at 13ºC and I hardly perceive the rum, it’s more musky rose with a vanilla background and perhaps some of the rum giving it that extra point that makes me like it more than Roses Musk.

pweedyadel

This is like a clean subtle rose fragrance. I’m only getting the rose with hints of sandalwood, pear and musk. It’s not loud so I’ll wear this during spring

If you know what Greek Orthodox rose incenses smells like this is it. Can’t get over how much it reminds me of it in an absolute great way.

I have tried almost all the other frags this one is being compared to and can say it smells like none of them. I actually think the closest thing in my collection is Roja Elixir Pour Femme. This is a stunning sweet, honeyed, white floral rose scent. I feel like it's somewhere in between Roja Elixir and Lancome Oud Bouquet. It's so lovely and very date night to me. This is not my go-to genre, but in this category, I think it's my fav. Can also see this being something you get endless compliments on from strangers.

This is a clean rose, slightly sweet from the pear and a little boosy scent. The opening is a blast of rose, but dries down to a pear/rose scent. Overall ok, nothing groundbreaking.

A gourmandy (pear-vanilla) rose that turns up slightly sweet and soapy-musky. This smells like a very dialed-down Rose Gourmand (Zara), which I understand is a dupe of Pierre Montale's Roses Vanille. I have yet to try Roses Vanille, but did try Rose Gourmand before finding that it was way too 'in your face' for me; very harsh and screechy. Rose Trombone, however, is more smooth, well-blended, and its voice quietly low, and for me, sits very close to skin which isn't a bad thing when you're going for elegance. It lasts forever on skin and I would probably only need to spray once or twice to fully enjoy it.

On skin, warm weather. tiny bit pear in the beginning. I don't feel so much rose, it is not strong, and then it gets Musk Musk Musk with a bit of sandalwood and a bit vanilla. Don't feel any rum at all (no boozy feeling)
Update: reminds me Musc Intense Nicolai, but poorer...

I had high expectations for Rose trombone, the few I tried prior from this brand are excellent and there's been some seriously good rose perfumes of late from brands like Les indemodable, Matiere premiere, and even Moschino's Toy Boy which is bloody fantastic!!!
I was hoping to be treated to something of real beauty and don't get me wrong this is a good fragrance, but it's got tough competition from the ones I mentioned.
The depth of this really comes in the drydown, somehow becoming more rosy however I'll start from the beginning.
So my first impressions on the strip were of an aldehydic, sharp, soapy, rose perfume which I'm not apposed to from those descriptors, in fact that's quite appealing, but something just didn't gel for me. However, smelling it much later on the strip and wearing it today, my impressions of the opening on my skin is of a much more rounded affair, frankly I don't know where the fizzy aldehyde thing has retreated to? It's still sorta there?
Rose trombone is comprising those fruity, jammy elements of rose almost with a kind of plastic, dolls head, playfulness, and the mild bubblegum, soapy aspects, but still not really that rosy. Although my sister commented that my car 'smelled like rosewater' I'd say this is more creamy and waxy than a transparent rose watery perfume but clearly it fills the air with rose vibes even if you're not that aware yourself.
To be honest I don't really know where this sits in terms of a rose, it's very accomplished and as I mentioned earlier gets rosier somehow, and vanillic with a good mixture of emotions, it's a subtle rose but present on skin all day and creamy it's pretty lovely and feels modern, and as I say if some rose fans are crazy about this and for the price etc...I'd say fair enough.

Rose Trombone is one of the fragrances that can make you feel both elegant and relaxed - think 'Marie Antoinette' with Kirsten Dunst, the scene with the cakes. It's a jammy, fruity rose scent that evolves like a dress from the same period as the movie. On top you have the pink ribbons and tulle, then you get the soft touch of cotton undergarments (the musk is very soft and clean). It's a perfume I'd wear for a date to make me feel confident and in a romantic mood!

Cherry_Darling

A gourmand, jammy rum soaked rose. Fairly light, not heavy, a touch soapy. (Actually upon second testing it is quite soapy, especially when I compare it to other rose pear / rose gourmands. It's the musk I think..but puts me off to be honest.) I got excited about the pear vanilla and rum notes, but in this genre I have to say Wisal Dhabab is more to my personal liking. It's like this but tuned up, more heavy and rich. Still lovely though, although I do wish that rum note was more pronounced.

I hate rose. So it's a testament to how much I liked The Darbouka, from this same brand, that I was willing to spray this on my skin.
And I'm going to write a review, even though it makes no sense for a rose hater to review a rose fragrance, because so far there is no other and this fragrance deserves one.
Happily for me, this turned out to be the one kind of rose fragrance that I can bear and that is the kind made with a beautiful, fruity rose absolute that smells almost more like berries than rose. It's a fresh, pretty, sweet and girly rose with berries and vanilla similar to Juliette has a Gun Miss Charming and Tauer's Une Rose Vermielle. It seemed to be well balanced and made of good quality materials.
