If you love powdery iris fragrances this is a must have for you! Indeed impressive, long lasting, well balanced composition with an impressive trail that changes over the time. Just finished the bottle and enjoyed every single spritz of it. Fantastic!

Venice2016!

Pure powder, very pleasant and impressive perfume. I take compliments each time I wear it, especially from women.

Marta_Regina

I adore this powdery, embracing, warm scent. It's close to skin, yet I can feel it all day long, and it stays comforting, lingering, bringing joy. It's a classical, elegant fragrance. I truly recommend.

Eve_evolution

Beautiful comforting sweet Iris, gentle and soft albeit complex. Great value. Wonderful scent. Bottle simple.

peipei01

very sugary, powdery, vanilla takes on iris; way too sweet but i can put up with this kind of sweetness somehow; long lasting and good value; definitely cause nausea in summer

dezaval

L'Erbolario Iris is a very sweet fragrance, indeed. The most prominent note is iris, of course, in a sugary/buttery/powdery way. How would you imagine iris caramels? That's this frag!

I wore it mostly in fall, layered with Yardley's English Lavender, because I wanted something powdery and clean at the same time. Very good longevity and sillage, as well. It's a very nice fragrance, but too sweet for me...

arteditors

harsh in the beginning. you want longevity and sillage right? 12 hours, of which were spent in bed with sheets rubbing all over. detectable up to 2 metres away the following day, being described as discreet yet detectable two metres away. sweet, tobacco vanilla, iris. nice. already bought stock of this. permanent resident in my collection now. wonder how strong it is in the first 8 hours hahaha

Sassafras23

Aldehydes, hawthorn, sugar, tobacco, vanilla - all my enemies. I think I decided to purchase this blind nonetheless, because I doubted the accuracy of the listed notes. (The official website only mentions bergamot, ylang-ylang, iris and vanilla.) And because the word ‘iris’ has a hypnotic effect on me, as does ‘powdery’. I don’t think I came across any powdery fragrances when I was young, but I’m ‘digging’ them now. I’ve also been wanting something from L’Erbolario, whose retro-styled botanical packaging appeals to me. I doubt if this really has any aldehydes. Definitely not those classical ones. But I do think something like hawthorn may be present (as in Flower by Kenzo). The level of sweetness in this makes me believe the sugar, too. I don’t feel tobacco per se, but something like smoke later on. Smoky vanilla? A reviewer down below said they spray it 15 times. What?! That would be suicidal and homicidal. I’ve only sprayed twice and feel like it’s too much. It can easily become suffocating unless applied sparingly. I’m not sure how I would know but I agree that this scent profile is antique. This probably won’t be my favourite powdered iris. I guess I like somewhat better the other ones I’ve got in this genre that also include fruit notes.

Okay, I’m adding a review of the body cream, I KNOW I KNOW ITS NOT ALLOWED but hear me out first! I had been looking for a nice, powdery lotion for a while now for when I don’t feel like wearing perfume (and by that I mean that I don’t want to be wasteful, I always FEEL LIKE WEARING perfume), AND I am already waiting on a bottle of Teint de Neige to arrive, so I thought this would be a nice addition without matching. THAT SAID—goddamn this is gorgeous. It reminds me of something specific but I don’t know what, I can’t pinpoint it. It’s a smell of the past, obviously, but what???

What it reminds me of, more obtusely, is a teacher. Imagine you’re in 3rdish grade, maybe you’re the teacher’s pet, how I was. Mayyybe she let you sit at her desk for a day because you did something to earn that. And what a treat lol. And maybe at the end of the year, she gave you a hug and said she’d miss you, thanked you for being a great student 💕 or maybe it’s 6th grade. And one girl is being mean, you can’t figure out why but you internalize it and your teacher notices. She pulls you outside, it’s so Arizona-hot out with the smallest breeze, and school is almost over but she wanted to tell you guys that it’s okay, “she’s just being—“ and whispers, “bitchy, maybe it’s ‘that time of the month.’” And you don’t understand the joke, but your friend does, so you giggle along with her. She gives you both a hug under each of her arms and you move on with your life. Both true stories 🤣 This smells of a teacher, or someone equally important, loving. Nurturing. That’s the best I can place this.

Either way, it’s sweet and powdery, not Johnson and Johnson powdery, even though my boyfriend says “baby powder.” Perhaps to a certain nose. But it’s more. Absolutely feminine. And I love it!

Drita

This is my most complimented perfume ever! I spray 15 times and im good to go. The projection of this lasts all day! People stop me to ask what im wearing because it smells so good! This is extremly powdery, the dry down is clean and sweet. Not sweet in a candy way but more in a floral way. Hands down the best perfume ever! On my skin it last the entire day, onmy clothes for eternity. This perfume beats every perfume i have. Its affordable and its very strong but soft. I am using this perfume for 8 years

Lotte_Liese

If I wear this, when I wear this, three things come to mind. Firstly, an airy, sweet, almost vanillic iris, secondly, a high quality, expensive body powder from the 90s and thirdly, the 2nd movement (adagio) of Mozart's clarinet concerto in A major K.622. I was so curious about this fragrance and fearful of buying a weak batch that I blind ordered a bottle from Italy.
I wear it only at night, I can't tell you why, maybe it's because I want to keep how lovely and like a dream come true I smell with this on, to myself.
If you're not in love with powdery fragrances, don't attempt this. I'm not quite sure what Tobacco's doing up there as a listed note, it simply isn't present, not to my nose it's not.
It opens up with loud aldehydes, but its nature is to perform softly.

MadMadCat

The first notes are cold and cuddly at the same time, floral and gourmand, all surrounded by a big fluffy cloud of aldehydes. The iris and the ylang-ylang make an interesting composition, like a tropical purple flower with a powdery opening and a sweet finish. After a minute, I smell something that reminds me of anise, or rather an anise-based dessert. I wouldn't say iris is the dominant note, but the composition is unexpected and quite gourmand. Sadly, with time passing, it settles in a scent that is EXACTLY the one of baby wipes. This makes me very very sad, but baby wipes it is.

shushkin

I've been wanting a bottle of this for ages. My tastes are eclectic to say the least. OK, so it's not strong on the iris but it is very addictive. If you want something warm, feminine and cuddly then this a good bet.
Kids will want to cuddly you and men will move in for another sniff. It's pretty much a balanced combo of iris, sugar and vanilla on me with an interesting hawthorn, musk and tobacco backdrop. The backdrop prevents it from becoming too girly or old lady.
I've tested tient de niege in the past and this is sweeter.
Its never sickly or too in your face.
I like fact that l erbolario scents smell all natural. I'm sure that's not the case though.
Impressive longevity for "perfume water" in this chilly room. A good price to. L erbolario create some gorgeous, sophisticated fragrance at a very affordable price.

Frantheone

So I feel like this one has two sides. The one has a sweet old lady vibe and the other smells EXACTLY like the Disneyland hotel in Paris.
It does have soapy vibes, but it's not exactly aldehydic, I get no tobacco at all but I get lots of vanilla and sugar, which makes it an absolute no for me.
I can still appreciate it however, because for its price range it's not bad at all. Its drydown is so much better than the initial spray which is kinda medicinal.
This is what a lady that lives in a country side cottage would wear while tending her garden.

katja blue

This is my "it smells like baby powder" fragrance. When I stumble on the reviews where people say about somewhat complex perfume that for them it's just a baby powder smell I think no way. But here I come. No iris, just baby powder.

Fleurie20

Very powdery and sweet. It also gives off a slight granny vibe. I don't consider this to be an iris scent at all - there is nothing iris about it (I'm talking about the genuine pencil/boiled carrot iris scent). If you want a comforting, cozy, powdery scent for colder months, this is it.

P/s: this is Petits et Mamans by Bvlgari when u increase the powder to the absolute max and add a ton of sweetness.

Liene

This is very sweet, but not in a syrupy way - more like sugar crystals with almost some rubbery, dirty nuance. However, predominantly this is mostly clean and powdery iris scent with hefty dose of aldehydes, which drags this powder to soapiness. Dainty touch of slightly dirty, grassy and ever alluring ylang-ylang makes this scent a real perfume (not just powder or soap).

One spray gives more than a moderate projection, two sprays - strong projection, more sprays will fill the room and suffocate everyone inside. Lasts eternity. Leans slightly more feminine. Exclusively daytime; perhaps could be a base layer for some nighttime mix. Used with caution suitable for autumn, winter and spring.

It kind of saddens me, that I have found Iris in the decline of my love for powdery scents. It is divine, just not meant to be in my collection. Oh, this fabulous dry confectioners’ sugar, sigh…

tobaksskab

It makes me think of a plush, deep purple flower covered in butterfly dust. It's powdery, rich, decadent, sweet and very warm and hits you like a truck in the beginning. Much, much later it fades into something dreamy, feminine and soft, while maintaining this dusty sweetness. I love it, but I am all about old-timey smells.

Croatian.Girl

I am not a fan of it. It's too cloying, very powdery, vintage. Longevity is amazing.

EspressoAddict

A rich and velvety powdery scent. Thick, sweet, and luxurious. A vintage scent so well loved that has become timeless. Much thicker and sweeter than Infusion d'Iris by Prada, but just as well balanced and beautiful. A feminine and clean scent, that soothes one's restless mind and calms the nerves. Perfect for dark, rainy autumn days, when the cold seeps into your very soul and you feel hopeless. One whiff is enough to make it all seem just perfect, beautiful, and cozy. Lasts a decent amount of time, forever on the clothes. Very decent projection and intensity, and yet somehow it doesn't choke you. I absolutely recommend it for everyone who loves iris, vintage powdery scents, and those on the lookout for something lovely and comforting. Do try it out first chance you get.

fyetan

Sweet and very powdery. Reminds me of being in a very well kept bathroom, white tiled walls and many mirrors.
Not quite as strongly floral/vegetal as some iris perfumes I've tried. Crowd pleaser if you like powder!
Lasts forever on fleece. Multiple days and still strong.

Cherry_Darling

Just received as a gift from a friend and part time guardian angel. Instantly love this perfume, Soft powdery and sweet, old fashioned maybe, but it's like a warm blanket with soft fur hugging you. Keeper. Reminds me of e coudrey amber vanilla. Upon further wearing I definitely feel something a little green and herbal lurking beneath the sweet billows. I think the hawthorn.

Smell almonds! Loads of creamy almonds. Been wearing this a lot lately it's my new fave.

LuluCoconut

I find that Erbolario's Iris is a perfume that grows on you. Yes, the opening can be a bit too loud and old fashioned but the rest is just warm powder and violet candies that last and last. It takes some testing to get used to, but then you find yourself craving its soft persistent sweetness. It would make a wonderful winter scent. Come autumn I will add yet another wonderful and affordable Erbolario scent in purse spray size to my collection - I find this really practical as I am more about diversity than bottle size lately (except for a few absolute favorites).

Skinterpreter

This is my ultimate comfort scent. I absolutely adore this addictive fragrance. As an avid fan of powdery scents, this is something I have been always looking for. It's very powdery, indeed (intense baby/make up powder vibes, at least for me), and also very sweet (the vanilla/sugar element is rather strong there, too). Lasts long on me and people do notice, I got compliments from my boyfriend on wearing this. If you are baby/makeup/sweet powder scent fan like me, definitely purchase. I'm rather a beginner as far as perfume collecting goes, but I feel like this (and Teint de Neige) left a mark on me. Gorgeous. :)

Pricosor_1

I love it? no, I hate it.
No no. I love it. Soooo powdery, so yummy so difficult to resist it...
No nonnonono, i can't stand it, it's too much, too strong, too sickening sweet, like choking with powder and sugar. I am 3 seconds away from puking.
Still I can't be apart from it. I must sniff it from time to time. Aaaaaww that comforting pure powder...

Others have said it before me a lot better, I am just dropping another comment on how incredibly strong this perfume can be. And at such a great price! I was looking for the perfect baby powder perfume and I found it. It's just too strong for me sometimes. I don't feel anything else 99% of the time than powder. No vanilla, no musk, no flowers, nothing. Just plain in your face sweet powder. In the beginning i distinctively feel the iris for about 30 seconds but after that ..powder bomb lasts until the next day.

Sometimes i try to layer it but I have not found the perfect combination. Everything dies long before my Iris and I am left alone with the eternal powder. Anyone has any suggestions on the layering options?

Perfume_madness

Decadent sugared iris! You have to like powder fragrances though. I love powdered fragrances so this is yums to me. It lasts and lasts. It did remind me of kissing my preemie cabbage patch kid doll as a child. Its comforting and cozy for snuggling in a big fleece blanket.

ClassicsLover

A sugar cube coated in corn starch. Just horrid! I don't like doing it but have to chose the hate option here.

Little Lady Black

I got this as a gift, so I didn't really know what I was getting into. This smells like iris-scented soap and pretty much nothing else! It's heavy and cloying and last for-effing-EVER! It's heavy on the iris and on the aldehydes, enough to give me a headache after fifteen minutes, and to make me scrub my wrists less than a hour in. It still lingered on my clothes and in my room for the rest of the day, so it at least gets points for sileage and longevity.

I gave it away to the first person who said they liked the smell of iris.

churinl

I need to try this several more times. I love iris so much and trust the opinions of so many Fragraticians that I just don't understand why I do not experience this the same way! It is so hyper-sweet that my teeth ache and it takes away from everything else the perfume has to offer. I accidentally found myself the owner of 2 bottles. Maybe I can use them to layer with something else. I want to smell what everyone else is smelling, not this sugar water with a pinch of iris!

Tessa03

How would this compare to Prada Infusion d'Iris ?

LadyIva

This is a very dark and opulent iris fragrance. Beware that this stuff is very strong and long lasting (one spritz fills a room and lasts 8+ hours); honestly it smells much more expensive than it is! In order to love this fragrance, one must love powdery scents in general, as well as the scent of Nivea creme, soapy aldehydes, powdery white musk and the likes. On the other hand, if you're not too keen on the smell of talcum, Nivea and makeup, run for your life, because you'll find this super-iris absolutely suffocating!
In L'Erbolario Iris, the titular flower is placed front and centre, supported by sweet vanilla, giving it a profound, almost chocolatey smell, which can be either enchanting or totally offputting, depending on your preferences. Other reviewers have already mentioned its similarity to Teint de Neige or Kenzo Flower, but what I am actually reminded of is - Guerlain Insolence EDP, especially the original formula, captured in a deep violet flower-shaped bottle. I used to have Insolence EDP and I liked it very much, but it wasn't very popular among my family members or coworkers - so ultimately I sold it off. Although Insolence EDP was supposed to be a violet-dominated perfume, I always thought that iris was a much stronger and more impactful note in it. So, if you are familiar with iris in Insolence EDP, here in L'Erbolario you will find the exact same dark, dusty, almost venomous, nuclear-strength flower. I'd be very happy to invest in a full bottle of Iris - however, it would probably suffer the same fate as Insolence EDP, with whom I reluctantly parted ways. Moral of the story: people should be exposed to the scent of iris from an early age, in order to get used to it and learn to appreciate it when they're older!

_no perfume bought on sale for two pennies by my mom is worse than this

_next to her i am short of breath now

gmr1967

The sweet perfume, powdery of excellence and not by chance the must of this maison. Fragrance that you love or hate and I obviously love it. Deep, intense, powdery to the nth degree, this fragrance also accompanies me since its first release. Fragrance that leaves the trail and you will certainly not go unnoticed and everyone will recognize this perfume. A great classic and a renewal of compliments for the Maison Erbolario who knew how to create a masterpiece.

ViouAmara

Bought in Torino, Italy.
Half cosy vanilla talcum, mixed with half icing sugar. A hint a violet or a maybe some white floral abstraction. It’s not a dupe of kenzo flower of course, but they share the same regressive comforting behavior.
Powdery, cake flour, a little bit cloying, just enough to keep a very good staying power, and you still want more, smelling so good, feeling so well.

Pez_Enelrio

i was not much aware of this brand until i got into a Bio store where they had it on display, i tried it out on skin. at first its very strong floral, old lady soap smell. pretty much keeps the same feeling but it elaborates quite nicely, i can even smell something like almond in the drydown

mapache

FANTASTIC !!!

I am sooooooooo picky about iris notes.
For example, I do not care for the majority of well-loved/popular Iris scents on the market....ie...Prada,Houbigant,Aqva di Parma....ect.

My favorite ever Iris is Yves Rocher Iris Noire, which I have 3 back-up bottles of.

This L'Erbalario Iris comes a close 2nd to the YR Iris Noire....for me..IMHO.

While at L'Erbalario store in Miami last week I bought the fragrance and bodywash.
LOVE it !!!
Basically, I have to "agree" with the positive reviews/opinions included on this page, regarding the "smell" "notes" ect......

auroramaria

This one is a lovely sweet and powdery iris that smells so good a best seller from L'Erbolario and it smells almost identical to Teint de Neige by Villoresi at just a fraction of the price. You must like powdery fragrances to enjoy this one as it is very dusty

Lady Nightshadow

I'm wearing Iris right now, and it's indeed a beautiful powdery scent, really cozy and cuddly.
I can totally confirm the soapiness of the talc flowery scent that comes from this, it's appealing and kind to the nose.

Also, I can't deny that something similar is a really common fragrance for house cleaning products here in Italy! I smell like I just got out of the washing machine, which makes me smile, I mean, this is definitely a clean scent.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that Iris strength passes the faint line between wearing a fancy baby powder and pouring too much fabric softener while doing the laundry.
I would totally buy the body cream instead of the perfume, it seems to me a much better option.

P.s. I have Chia by Farmacia SS. Annunziata and it is nothing like Iris, the only thing in common is the powdery scent that could be labeled as "possible frangrance for baby powder", but they are totally different - Chia is NOT soapy floral but it's a lot more "pink sugar" sweet.

Mirella86

I don't know the Teint de neige fragrance, so I cannot tell if this smells the same for a fraction of the price, however, I highly recommend it. It is a beautiful powdery scent with moderate silage, but great longevity. It's a very comforting scent that remains with you and gives you a hug. I prefer it in colder weather, with fluffy sweaters

lombredansleau

I love L’Erbolario products and have been using them for over 30 years. Iris is a lovely powdery, talcum scent, well blended and balanced very similar to Teint de Neige, Angel Musk and Talco Profumato.
It’s very intense and heady so one spray will be enough. I recommend also the body cream and the bath gel. If you love Villoresi TDN and you don’t want to break a bank, this will do just fine.

roncevici94

I don't like or dislike this perfume. This is mass appealing. Everyone seems to like this smell but also nobody really loves him. It is just "nice smell" perfume, nothing more and special. Also, once when I sprayed myself with it on work, some boy asked did someone crash the bottle of sun protection milk. For real. And it was been January haha

sueshow

WoW this is decadent! A dream come true. I LOVE powdery clean perfumes and this one is perfect. If you love powdery scents this is a must have. It's a cross between make up powder and baby powder. I get compliments from both men and women. It is very strong so a little goes a long way.

Shwets

On first sniff it is a sweet aldehydic baby powder scent which remains the same throughout. Its not in your face and really pretty. But a note in this makes me feel slightly nauseous and something in this (aldehydes?) which cause dryness and soreness to my nostrils. It is that very note that i pick up from industrial cleaners and hand washes.

One of the most closest to the J&J baby powder scent ever but sweeter. Amazing longevity and very good sillage.

Am gutted that it doesn't agree with me.

Also i really thought that this would have an uncanny resemblance to Teint de Neige, even though they appear to have some similarity, the powder varies between the two. TdN is more quality smelling, almondy creamy with vanilla whilst Iris lacks the vanilla note. Unless you are very particular, don't expect an exact copy though on my skin they were different as well as on clothing.

Kimmychoo 01

Pouffy fouffy powder bomb
Baby powder / make up powder
Enchanting little number
If you want to sit on clouds and dream .. wear this scent .
A very comforting , cozy scent - great for just out the bath .. one spray / maybe two spray only !
Very worthy of a place in the perfume palace
9/10

Perfumeroo

My Grandma used to grow irises in her garden.I remember their delicate pale periwinkle petals & their sweet, heavenly scent. This does not smell like those irises, but it's a soft, sweet powdery scent. I don't get any floral at all beyond the powder, perhaps a bit of vanilla.Pleasant, but it doesn't evolve into anything intruiging.

ofir.derri

Incredible.

As a beloved fan of TdN, I've tried all 3 leading dupes of it, which are Iris, Sweet Dreams by Joseph Jivago and Icon Pearl by Ga-De.

Noneless, Iris is the absolute winner, with no hesitations what so ever.

The initial scent is a major blast of sweetness which I believe comes from the Bergamot mixed with some vanilla.
it lasts for 15-20 min, and then... then... my goodness..

THE MAGIC OF IT ALL HAPPENS

Teint De Neige is in the house!
Sugary Iris topped with some Aldehydes, I can NOT, and this is truly my truth, I can NOT tell any difference between TdN and Iris!
My God! This is an excellent dupe!

Scent gets a sweeping clean 10/10, longevity gets 7/10, and Sillage gets 8/10, it can easly fill a room if sprayed right!
I will be consuming this fragrance for many many years!
DO NOT HESITATE, IF YOU WANT TdN FOR A LOWER COST, THIS IS THE BEST FRAGRANCE YOU'LL EVER FIND!

circlecrew

Smells EXACTLY like Lorenzo Villoresi Teint De Neige!!! Much less expensive though. I have both, and put one on each wrist--no difference other than the TDN lasts for literally days. A little goes a very long way.

Gidrocity

this was a blind buy. After all the reviews, I decided to go for it. The notes in Teint de Neige seemed so appealing but the price NOT :) so instead I got Erbolario- Iris (i never smelled any of them) but always liked powder and iris. I guess I am a dreamer, I was in such anticipation for iris to arrive, oh well....disappointment, its on a cheaper side and to my nose smells very basic :( i do get a bit of an old lady vibe, maybe its my chemistry with this fragrance, i got samples of frescaessenza also from erbolario, and even though i am not a big fan of flowery citrusy frags, i actually liked it, very fresh but with an interesting note/twist that is unusual (at least to me) I will give iris a chance maybe it will grow on me but for now its a pass...since i have this reaction to iris erbolario, do u guys think i should also give up on teint de neige?

Emerald17

I don't have Teint de Neige, so I can't compare the two. However, I DO have Joseph Jivago Sweet Dreams, and that's supposed to be similar to TdN, so I'll do a side by side of SD and Iris instead.

Iris is what I thought (and wanted) L.T. Piver's Heliotrope Blanc would smell like! I actually get an almost dry almond vibe, MINUS the typical cherry/marzipan/play-doh note I seem to find in most almond/heliotrope fragrances. There's also a very SLIGHT coconut crust I'm getting from this. Like warm, flakey, crust from a coconut pie (MINUS all the extra sweetness and extra coconut you get from an actual pie.) I don't know what's causing it to smell like that on me right now, so I'll test it again later. Compared to Sweet Dreams, it's much softer, less finely-milled floral soap, and a tiny bit sweeter. But NOT the same sweetness, nor as much sweetness as you get from Osez Moi or Private Room. To me, this is closer to the talc powdery-ness I get from Sweet Dreams, just not as potent or sharp. I LOVE Sweet Dreams, so it doesn't bother me one bit. If Sweet Dreams was too powerful or too baby powdery for you, try L'Erbolario Iris. It's much softer, less powdery, but still has good longevity, and fairly good sillage for the first few hours at least. (Will update on longevity later as well.) I love powdery fragrances, and this is a perfect one to add to my collection.

Croman

Beautiful fragrance,monster longevity and sillage.

dipisor

Oh, my! This is Heaven to me ;) That sweet powder...mmm...it's like walking barefoot on fluffy clouds, surrounded by serenity... :)

Don't know why, but I like this one better on summer than winter...It performs better on my skin.

Musume

Talking about twin perfumes...for those who are fans of Teint de Neige and are on a budget, L'Herbolario Iris is a great option, it's pretty similar. I like them both but I'm more prone to buy Iris rather than TdN, because when I spend so much money on a perfume I want it to be unique, and I'm getting fond of these non-expensive copycats, that allow you to smell great without ruining your bank account.

Dafja

Your simply the best, you better then everything!!

veronika.m

I have been long visiting Italy and still searching for a perfume that I smell on almost every Italian woman 45+.
Iris is I think one of them - and also a scent you can smell not only on women, but also in their houses, toilets... Not sure if they use the other Erbolario iris products like reed diffusers and scented sachets, anyway - this smell is just the smell of Italy for me. Maybe it's because iris is so popular in Italian fragrance industry, they probably imitate the scemt in household cleaning products :))
Most people won't like it I am afraid, it's extremely strong and long lasting and the sillage is very intense.. But as someone here has written already - the very brisk and powdery head fades after some time and what remains is the very soft, warm, flowery powdery base which lasts forever and is extremely pleasant!
I have the scented sachets in my wardrobe and sometimes spray the perfume on old teddy bears and cushions - ant they smell months and months with it.
Not 100% sure that half of Italian women wear it, as I am still searching for the right one (quite similar to Narciso Rodriguez BTW, but much older - any tips anyone?), still one of the Top 5 perfumes for me.
And yes, it's very very cheap and it lasts long. What more do you want ;)

elislo

An important perfume for me.
It is my mother's perfume, dusty talc and vanilla..
Also remember me my old job and a colleague it befriends from which am me due to separate. It is the perfume of house..I live very distant and it miss me. The perfume of the embraces

I was so looking forward to finding a cold iris scent that does not smell dated, i.e. that doesn't evoke an elderly lady's powder. I though L'erbolario Iris was it - but no. On my skin, it is very warm, and the vanilla is almost stronger than the iris. It is sweet and warm, not elegant, chilly, and young as I had hoped. On the paper strip I also sprayed, the vanilla and sugar isn't quite as strong, and there is more actual iris. Since I'm not made of paper, I won't purchase this though.

Mellyhelly

A sign of times. People like fabric softener.
This smells like an incredibly concentrated fabric softener with "iris petals".
The first stage of this one is quite unbearable and synthetical. Iris... where?
The notes are interesting, but the outcome is not.
After one hour of brain hammering it becomes much softer and comfortable, nothing spectacular or very high quality, but it's a delicate feminine powdery scent. The pipe smell is very faint.
Longlasting and not expensive, you get a lot of bang for you money. I just cannot go through the first hour and the drydown is not very interesting.

valentinocerca.amore

Dafja

The best perfume in history.

Dafja

This is the best perfume i have ever bought!! It is such a fluffy smell, (soft powder in a sweet elegant way) is the first thing that you smell.. with mixed with melted sugar and a tiny bit white chocolate with a litte smoke smell. Blend this all together and l'erbolario iris is the smell.

This perfume you can smell as soon you enter the buidling hahah. Kidding but if you walk pas people they will definitly smell this gorgeous perfume. I finished 5 bottles and i will buy another 5 because this smell is the BOM!!!. My other perfumes i dont use anymore.. because this perfume kills them all!!

and by the way how can people compare this i mean ----THIS PERFUME--- with baby powder???? This is the most original flower power powder scent ever. Go and check your nose at you doctor because this does not even come 0,01% near baby scents.

Super Soapy!! L'Erbolario's Iris is NOT a safe blind buy (I totally just blind bought it). It actually reminds me of the "iris version" of LT Piver's Heliotrope, because both are extremely traditional interpretations of super-powdery purple soliflores with a noticeable tinge of non-gourmand sweetness. Other reviewers have commented that Iris is a love or hate type of scent- I think I might love AND hate it... haha!

Let me reiterate: this fragrance does not smell modern in any way. In fact, Iris actually smells exactly like my great grandmother's linen closet in Brooklyn, when I was a little kid...a scent of nostalgia for me, and a definite step UP from the (porto-potty) images evoked by Piver's Heliotrope.

The powder with the sweet and the floral is extremely heady and a little bit stuffy. Kind of like bitter almond extract layered with clean, albeit dusty quilts, and baby powder.

I hope it grows on me, but I'm glad my boyfriend isn't home right now because I don't see this being attractive to him.
It is comforting though. I'll give it that. It is ultra strong and creates gigantic sillage for when you need an impenetrable forcefield of powdery protection from the world.

suzan de haas

Very (baby)powdery. So lovely!

Vehrkalia

Iris from Erbolario was my first love and signature frag. It's a lovely, intense, clean but sensual scent, with enormous sillage so it is neede just one spray, if you don't want to intoxicate everybody everywhere you go... :-)
It lasts long, the days after you can still sniff it on clothings.
It's a non changing scent but in the drydown it become a intense skin scent, powdery and still flowery. Many people said it's like the baby powder but I don't agree. This scent make you feel sexy and confident with yourself and the others. Not exactly the same feeling of a baby powder... xD

Smels like leftovers of Lorenzo Teint de Neige.
It's like the differnces between Coca Cola and RC Coke.

L'Erbolario Iris wears just perfectly on my skin. It's definitely dense powder, with a strong smell of fresh iris. On my skin, it's soft, deep, cooling, rich powder with an underlying sweetness that keeps it very feminine. There is a light touch of green, like green stems, that create a fresh crispness balancing the heavy powder.

Yes, it's definitely an "old school" blend, and it's just as, if not more powdery than Teint De Neige. You have to love thick powder to love L'Erbolario Iris.

For those who notice a bitterness, I would think that the hawthorne note is to blame. Bitter notes in perfumes are sometimes amplified with different skin chemistry. On my skin, however, hawthorne is barely noticeable, and is just enough to keep the fragrance from becoming too sweet. Though powdery soft, this perfume is also uplifting, cooling, crisp, very feminine, somehow managing to be both strong and gentle at the same time.

On my skin, silage remains moderate, and it lasts forever until I wash it off. I LOVE L'Erbolario Iris !

rickyrebarco

I am normally the quintessential iris lover but this fragrance is not for me. I sprayed this liberally on my skin thinking it was going to be wonderful. Not so. I got a huge dose of face powder, a bit of nice iris, that was very soon overwhelmed by the bitter smell of cut stems of flowers that have been in water too long and need to be re-cut. The final development of the scent was rather bitter on me, not sweet, and powdery like a very old school talcum powder, old face powder from the 1930's and crumbling paper from an old musty book. There is an overall impression of musty, dusty and well past its sell-by date.

This one is very unpleasant on my skin. Too bad because it has good longevity and a good price point. Lizwykys says it better than I, but it seems that we had similar reactions to this scent. I agree that this scent smells like I would expect Miss Havisham from Great Expectations to smell.

lizwykys

Wow, I was so glad to get a sample of this with another order as I've been wanting to compare it to my current favorite, Korres Iris Lily of the Valley Cotton -- but whoah, it's pretty much exactly the opposite of everything I love about the Korres Iris. I find this horribly cloying, overbearing, and unpleasantly saccharine. It evokes in me the exact same profoundly queasy feeling as Youth Dew and similar heavy scents of a certain era, despite being entirely different in composition. Annoyingly, it also seems to have much greater staying power than other L'Erbolario scents that I like much more.

This is possibly a love-it-or-hate-it scent? My impression is of heavy drapes closing out the air and light, a dim, untidy bedroom with a heavy four-poster bed piled with too many pillows, an antique dressing table chaotic with cosmetics, medicines, and spilled powder, a mottled mirror, dust motes dancing in an errant sliver of sunlight, dying flowers in vases of soured water. Dust, powder, and sweet decay.

If I were to rename it, I'd call it "Havisham!"

So now I'm very curious about "Iris" scents, having found one I love and one I hate; I didn't expect such a gulf of difference.

anna.dkr5

I've bought the deodorant cream, and it smells great! Soft, powdery, and sweet.

arzacu

Love it from the first sniff...

I was looking for a powdery fragrance, and I tried so many of them (kenzo flower, dahlia noir, dior homme... all of them the same somehow boring)

An just this morning I tried this perfume on a store, tested on my whrist and fell in love whit it!

Creamy, powdery, old-fashioned dusty make up, I don't know, but I really really felt the Iris smell delicious and sugary.. lovely

dormir6

I have the tenue (light) version, but it's still strong, sweet, innocent powder that is almost similar to Teint de Neige. For the price it's very affordable. Sometimes I love it, but sometimes it brings me some strange melancholy, like brooding lonely in a room and watching never ending snowfall as a russian heroine is a novel.
I prefer to wear it in winter, its powdery softness envelopes me in a white haze.

vintage_scent

This stuff really does smell identical to Teint de Neige...which leads me even more to believe the flower note listed in TdN has got to be iris and violets. Very very lovely. Wearing Iris makes me feel as if I am wrapped in the softest royal purple velvet, powdered in face talc.

This is a most lovely iris dipped in vanilla, then frosted with sugar and rolled in powder...alot of powder. Right up my alley. I don't get very much tobacco maybe just a bit. It would have been nice to have more, but I still love it very much
Beautiful. Frosted iris.

smelling_gr8

Wow! This has got to be the most powdery perfume ever....it's so powdery and 'dry' it's almost like it's a delicate fine posh talcum powder. It reminds me of a cross between Johnsons baby powder and an expensive talc.
Yes it is very very similar to Teinte De Neige but I personally prefer this one. The longevity and projection are pretty amazing and the scent lingered on my clothes for the next 2 days.
As for the scent of Iris...eerrrmmmm....no Iris I smelled has scent like this. Having said that, I would love a bottle of the delightful classy 'talc'.

the Italian

Powdery?
As odd as this may sound, last time I smelled it I felt like I was standing in weird desolated landscape, like some sort of desert of face powder in a twilight zone. The most depressing thing my nose had to put up with.

jesseg

the aldahydes and bergamont create a herbal note that is similar to a chinese leaf sprinkled with powdered sugar...it reminds me of a sweet chinese oil, but after an hour this herbal effect diminsh creating a very soft powdery base with woody smoke...very comforting in cold weather....the dry down is similar to the beloved Tova

adriana.rizzati

When I read the main notes on Fragrantica I really wanted to try "Iris", and I expected to find a charming, multifaceted perfume in which sweet and bitter notes were blended in an unusual, sensual fragrance.
I tried it last week, and I was very disappointed: I couldn't find any tobacco (that is the main reason I tried this perfume), nor bergamot.
Vanilla is too much sweet, but not the spicy or the gourmand vanilla I use to love.
I've got a marvelous hawthorn tree in my garden, and its flowers have the gentle smell of the purest white honey... but there is no trace of it in "Iris".
I found only a powdery, sweetish, overwhelming perfume without any evolution.
The only notes I smell are iris and sugar... I'm sorry, it's too boring and depressing for my taste.

gesch

Thanks to OlfractalinFemme I now have the Iris by L'Erbolario - in Extrait Version called "Irissimo".

Beautifully melancholic. 'Saudade' was what first came to my mind, some feeling like sitting in the twilight train alongside the protagonist in "Notturno Indiano" by Tabucchi. Or the woman of "Il Gioco del Rovescio" : the Iris is not green and vibrant, but somewhat powdry and green, enhanced by Aldehydes. Soon the sweetness emerges to envelop the Iris, but it's a dry sweetness like some mediterranean dolce.

Something that borders on gluey but is doughy more. And then comes vanilla-pipe-tobacco. And I imagine my grandpa stuffing his pipe and his late wife wearing a very sophisticated Iris perfume (like the one from Hermes).

I see woman loving to smell this scent on other woman, and men hating it ;)

It's intense and the Extrait holds for nearly 14hrs! Highly recommended!

rougetnoir

a lot of people said that Iris L'erbolario is a clone of Teint de Neige. well, it's true! I own both. Teint de NEige is my favourite perfume and last summer I forgot to bring it with me on holiday. so I bought iris because of the lower price. they are similar, but not the same, of course. I find that Iris is stronger at the beginning, and more sweet, but Teint de neige is more elegant, and it last longer.
anyway, I have the iris body cream too and the liquid talc as well, and they are great products too!
in Italy is very common.

Enchantra

I founf it delicious the very firt times when I used to wear it, but then goin' on usin' it I couldn't smell anymore the persistant that brings during days and days, especially upon dresses.
I think also this parfume is not for everyone because seems to have itself a particular personality.

indre

A very very strong and a little bit too powdery scent.. I am not able to describe it as good as I wanted because English is not my native language, but when I tried this on the paper sheet it seemed very nice, when I tried it on my skin... Oh my. It is so annoying. It even made me womit in the middle of the day... It was a pitty I didn't have any other fragrance I could spray and kill this powdery scent.

melia

Wow I never looked at the reviews of this perfume but when I tried the bodycreme I thought, what is this familiar smell... and yes, teint de neige it is! (starting to get boring how often it is said here isn't it) I never knew iris could be so powdery though...

sistertricked

Two years ago my mom followed a woman to ask the name of her perfume and it was Iris from L'Erbolario. That Christmas she got it and I swear that every time she sprays it what follows is: "Whooaaaaaa!", because she likes it so much that she fills her lungs with it as much as she can. I like it, too, but I use the cream istead, which is as fragrant as the perfume. The only word of notice is to be careful with the quantity, as it is really strong.
One more thing: two years ago I also gifted the body cream to a friend of mine. Last summer we got in the car together and inquired about her perfume, which to my nose seemed to be Chanel 5. Cross my heart!!! She said that in hot weather she uses just a drop of the Iris body cream and that's where the smell came from. Needless to say that I tried it the next day but with no similar results. Skin chemistry again!

translation of Merilu59's review
"è il teint de neige dei poveri":

It's the poor man's Teint de Neige.

Babina 70

it is so sweet and powdery.. I love it. It lasts a lot, i use to wear it with the body cream

Sinica

This fragrance is among my favourites. It is incredibly long lasting and sweet and soft and creamy. I am about to finish the big 100ml bottle. It brings so many many happy memories. And it was so cheap for its quality. Just simply amazing!

sanziana29

Not so deep, not so refined, not so classy, but a well done perfume, it deserves money. Lasting power ( as Imgcas said) is amazing! Try it!

teddyjam3

For anyone looking for L'Erbolario products in the US, I found a website selling them with great prices...
www.ourfavoritehealthproducts.com

I also used a coupon there to save 10%. The coupon code was SAVE10PERCENT

Hope that helps!

Do you know Lorenzo Villoresi's Teint de Neige? This is quite similar but not so well blended and soft. Instead, Iris is sweeter.
This isn't expensive but it still is a good fragrance, very powdery (Teint de Neige is the most powdery scent I've ever smelt). I get lots of compliments when I wear Iris.
Lasting power is awesome! I think it lasts longer than Teint de Neige.
One of my favourite fragrances.
