What a amazing woody scent! I layer it with Red Roses to give it a green/floral feminine edge.

Excellent performance, around 8 hours with intimate/medium sillage.

youeatcheese

I was recommended by a Jo Malone staff to layer it with Oud & Bergamot. So, whenever I use it I layer it with Oud & Bergamot - which is very classy and somewhat masculine. Very good!

what i expect my english professor to smell like

I love this. It’s my signature scent. It’s perfectly unisex, and great for any season IMO. It’s a sparkly green hazelnut with a woody oak base, that anyone can find wearable.

Scorpio Queen

An absolute love for me, no question about it. I have owned many samples of Jo Malone fragrances (could never afford a full-size bottle) and honestly, have not been impressed by the majority of them. The scent of many being bland and forgettable, not to mention the poor longevity of them making the prices very unreasonable for what you get. English Oak and Hazelnut to me is Jo Malone's best fragrance, hands down! Not only does is smell glorious, it is unique, and long-lasting too! I will be purchasing a larger bottle of this for sure as I will always want it in my perfume collection. It is stunning.

This is the perfect fragrance for autumn. And despite what some people might say, in my opinion it is perfectly unisex. This would smell equally gorgeous on both a man or a woman. It smells refined, classy, elegant, expensive, and also very sexy. The dry-down is heavenly. You must try this for yourself.

@lovendearest could it be that you got a fake JM off tiktok? Of late there have been complaints of people receiving fake perfumes from buying off tiktok. I don't own this (yet) but have sniffed it on two different times at the JM counter at our local mall and my nose did not detect any strong citrus from it at all. Although noses can smell scents differently, still be wary of purchasing perfumes off tiktok as it's a pretty common platform to sell fake perfumes.

violeteme

Cologne version of some non-descript woody scent. Unpleasant and not sophisticated enough.

dvinshultz

On me, the opening is a very sharp green-woody scent. It dries down much more pleasant on the nose, the oak in this is something beautiful. Longevity is great for a Jo Malone fragrance, I easily get 8 hours with this one. I would love it if the opening notes weren't so harsh.

I consider this to be the first perfume I fell completely in love with after my mom bought it for herself a few years ago. I am still in the early stages of perfume obsession, and while I agree with comments about the tragically poor longevity of jo malone colognes, to me this is worth having. It definitely is bright and sharp and somewhat biting (all of these are positives to me, but certainly not for everyone), but becomes drier and sweeter later on. I find that it lasts well on clothes, and I love when it lingers on my jacket after spraying the night before.

lovendearest

was bought it yesterday on one of tiktok live shopping (yes its a thing). i was expecting a perfume that had woody, nutty and lil bit creamy, i guess?? (bcs i have another hazelnut perfume and it have super creamy scent).
of course, before i check it out from the cart, i asked the seller how does the scent like, and she said that it smells good, fresh and "lil bit" citrusy. "just a liiittle bit citrus scent"

it turns out its VERY citrusy. i agreed to other reviewers here that this smells clean, soapy, aldehydic detergent. yet still dissapointed bcs its far from neither the notes nor the name, and i dont like citrus-like fragrances at all.
but well, since i live in indonesia, the scent really suitable to wear in this tropical country. but probably i wont use this perfume alone without with others perfume, i layered it with Wild Bluebell. or probably i will give this perfume to my parents bcs they the one who like it 😂

PDB1978

Nothing complicated - simple leans a little masculine which I like.

As a newbie to fragrances first impression was I could identify the woody oak note - perhaps Im not familiar with quality but its definitely there.

for extra bougie I topped up with pomegranate noir - also fab

Bluetsprincess

Neither woody nor nutty. Just smells like harsh, soapy aldehydes

jordysmom

Smells like neither hazelnut nor oak but does smell really good

Igor Samb

Currently, my Signature Scent.

Fresh and bright, best for daytime, any occasion and weather, slightly masculine scent.

The mood of this scent is uplifting and confidence boosting but calming at the same time. I usually wear this to work and when going to sleep.

The visuals it projects is walking on a damp coniferous forest early in the morning.

My Score
9.5 / 10

JKeto

Extremely sharp, aldehydic and laundry detergent like. Not at all what I expected based on the notes.

The Wolf

I normally dislike hazelnut unless it's used judiciously, blended well, and not smokey.
This is all of those things. I like oak and cedar is one of my favorite notes. It's a simple woody drydown that smells fantastic on my skin.

This is a very simplistic fragrance that at first I was very disappointed
However, I love the fact that it is so linear so that I could layer with a more sweeter perfume. I did use sugar oud with this, and it became very almost like Christmas when hazelnuts are being roasted in the streets.. the fragrance on its own is a very green Woody linear fragrance I would say on its own. It is very masculine without being potent or in your face.
Now that I have given it time, I have learnt to actually really appreciate this for what it is, but I do Layer it for personal use!
Really good for what it is and would be fantastic for a man’s everyday scent and it’s also very classy!

fwuity

green, fresh, and woody, like stepping onto an oaken stump and inhaling the crisp air under a clear blue sky — bluer than a robin's egg. overhead, the sun is tinged with a pale lemon yellow, glimpsed through the branches of a verdant forest.

this perfume reminds me of my boyfriend: fresh, forward, grounded. i love to smell it on the collar of his shirt; to look up and see his youthful face, wide eyes, strong brow, capable hands, small of his back, lovely curl of hair at the nape of his neck ... it suits him very well, which is why it's just a generic "masculine" cologne on me but quite nice on him.

astralmonad870

I find all JM fragrances extremely linear and one-dimensional (simplistic) with poor longevity and sillage, and hence overpriced. £140 for a 100 ml bottle? If you have good quality fragrance or essential oils you can recreate your own dupes at home very easily for less than a quid. I obtained fragrance oil with english oak + hazelnut notes that is supposed to mimic the JM fragrance. I will add lemongrass, cypress, and white florals to turn it into a more full-bodied fragrance.

Brought, A62 (June 2022 Batch)

I intrigue to buy this after I am interested in sort of only Woody scent.
Without other accord, I decided to blind buy this one as the note listed similar to "TF Bois Morocian 2022"

When try, at first I think this is a robbery.
This barely has any scent at all (I go 6 full sprays).

But, The scent is fully developed at almost 2 hours mark post-wear.
Which I consider wried because normally, my skin develops all the notes quite fast.

During open, I got only a bit of Nutty experience.
Semi-sweet hazelnut sort of smell. Then, 45mins it starts emitting a strong smell of ISO-E-SUPER. I think to myself, this could also be able to rename to "Molecule 01 + Hazelnut' and It will also sell.

But then, around 1.15 hrs. - This is when the magic start to happen.
I got a whip of Green edge (like pine) and a sweet-nutty smell from time to time (like Hazenut).

When It reaches fully develop at 2 hours mark. This is where I smell Oak.
It is not really deep trick cut oak, but rather a mell of fresh oak tree in the forest.

Another wried point is that If I stuck my note to it. I still mostly smell ISO-E-SUPER.
But when smell in the air, this is where I smell all the Magical Oak Forest.

I do think this smells ok not the same level as Bois Marocain or Oud Wood.
But it last quiet long (8 hours) projection is moderate to intimate.

If you want to add some dept, I think this will layer well with Myrrh & Tonka.

I would rate this 7/10,

I want it to have a bit more body. If this release Intense, I might really buy another one.
This will still be in my rotation for pure wood fragrance and this cost a bit cheaper than TF one so I can spray more (compare between OudWood & Bois Morocian).

EDIT 1 // Mar 8, 2023.

I would say, If I feel I want to be understated as much as possible I would wear this one.
Tame, Polite, Shy, Smile, Friendly and Warm sum up in a bottles.

I really enjoy this Dry-Wood scent, no Powdery touch.
Will definitely be in my collection.

gxbjw

Fresh, woody and nutty — and that’s about it. It has a decent amount of sweetness, which adds a kick to the aroma.

It’s good, but for the love of me, I won’t buy it at the price range it’s at. The opening is pretty unique and interesting, but in the drydown it smells like something Carolina Herrera would release.

In fairness, this fragrance is suitable pretty versatile and suitable for formal occasions, especially in colder seasons. I would wear it in climate-controlled settings in the summer. Unisex, anyone can pull it off, and has a touch of class to it.

The performance is moderate, leaning to the weaker side of things.

Oh, if you think it is similar to Terre d’Hermes, my brother in Christ, you need a new nose.

Solid, but overpriced.

croissant_pari

English Oak and Hazelnut is a cologne type of fragrance and totally unisex in my opinion. Oh dear lord! Upon first sniff I was in heaven; hazelnuts, fresh pine needles and velvety oak wood. I dare to say that to my nose it's quite musky; fizzy, fluffy and smooth. It's linear but so well blended it does not matter a bit. The pleasure I get from this aroma is comparable to the pleasure of coffee smell in the morning, the jasmine smell you catch in the air in the high heat of a summer's night, the smell of salt when you approaching a coastal region. I am in love.

erika.isme.98

This is nice but smells a bit like pickled basil is in the background of the pretty oak/hazelnut scent

Aditya chatterjee

If you want something unique on its on then grab this beauty (best signature scent you can own). It give you vibes of traveling through the forest, camp fires, having goodtimes with your loved ones.🌰🏕

If i had to describe this fragrance it is completely woody scent with the hind of freshness to it...😍 but longivity is upto 4hrs on skin.♨️

rziotti

I have to agree with @mitronik comment.
It is a very unique scent.
I like to mix with Tom Ford Vert du Fleur is just a incredible mix and made the both last longer.
Itself is very elegant and a expensive scent. I've received a lot of compliments using it.
I would say is unisex but leans a little to male path if you are a woman that like just girly and sweet frags.

WildDove

JM English Oak & Hazelnut is a light, fresh wood that becomes sweeter but not excessively so. Leans masculine but can develop to be unisex. A safe blind buy for most men. For me to wear as a unisex fragrance, what works is a single diffuse spray, so I catch sweet drifts throughout the day. Classy drydown. Perfect for autumn and winter.

Mitronik

Don't trust any of the resemblances of other fragrances here, cuz this is unique. (or I haven't smell anything like it). This is my favorite Jo Malone. It smells just like the note breakdown. It's very woody and creamy. It's best for autumn, night, light formal, but it basically fits every situation well, except high heat summer days. Longevity is good for Jo Malone natural EDCs, projection is even better (by the same assumption). The selling point here is uniqueness, so pull the trigger on the blind buys if you want a versatile collection :D

ckorp8

The first twenty-thirty minutes of this was nondescript and uninspiring. After that it was all woody and nice. Don’t really understand the hype over this perfume. Nice is as nice goes. Not great or wonderful. Suitable for daily wear if you can stand smelling the green opening everyday. But I guess one gets used to things easily if there’s the nice part coming afterwards. I don’t register the opening as hazelnut and I don’t get any Aventus vibe. BTW all this on clothing as my skin sample faded away after thirty minutes.

Foxglovefollies

This opens very masculine, dries down to woody sweet unisex. I don't get a lot of the hazelnut, what I get is the smell of my great grandparents (now passed) old house full of solid oak furniture. This is what my great grandfather smelled like and while the scent itself is nice I do not want it.

Projection is intimate, longevity is 2-3 hours, and I think it's worth sampling if you want a sweet antique oak scent that doesn't need to last long

dcjimr

One of the longest lasting Jo Malone fragrances I've tried. Beautiful, crisp woody/nutty scent. Very straightforward and pleasant.

Elinorjohanse

This smells like an early October morning in Berlin 2013. Wearing a beige trench coat, leather gloves and a burgundy scarf. Running late to work, leaves crunching under your boots. The crisp air and the whiff of bitter hazelnut.

*loves_shoes*

Sweeter than I anticipated, based on the male leaning reviews. Not that it’s sweet, it’s just slightly sweet, but more than I’d expect in any male leaning frag.
Totally unisex, doesn’t have that aromatic masculine vibe you get from too much vetiver or lavender.
A bit nutty. A bit woody, not much more to say really.

Nishasampath

What a beautiful cologne. I have no idea how oak or hazelnut might smell, but I know that I love what I am smelling on my skin. It's happy, fresh, and it makes me smile each time I catch a waft of fragrance. Except that this is seriously expensive, this is a cologne that I would love to use every day. Unisex for sure. Something you can blind buy with confidence.

Caldrumr

If you look at the note breakdown, you will know exactly what you are getting: lots of oak, a moderate amount of cedar, and a little pop of hazelnut.
It is smooth. It is bright, but also dry and woody at the same time.
A very nice scent for the fall. Unisex in my opinion.
My favorite from Jo Malone.

nureenizazi

I sniff this scent last week and I really can’t forget it!
So today I bought it and sooooo happy, also it is my first Jo Malone perfume!

When spritzing this, it reminds me walking through damp-after rain-forest!

I feel positivity, fresh, calming, and I really want to smell like this all dayyy especially in my cold office!
It is sooo calming. Much love!

eortiz410

It’s a nice scent just not for me. It opens up very nice with the hazelnut being very prominent. As it dries down the dampness kicks in and just doesn’t work with my body chemistry.

ingeneuxo

-Opens smelling fresh and woody.
-Dries down smelling like damp oakmoss.
-Not bad indeed. Rather photorealistic creation.
-Leans masculine. (-)

Ferra_Verto

Wonderful - soft, creamy, and cozy, works well in autumn or spring. That oak is fantastic, very realistic, leans a touch dry but still resinous and warm. The hazelnut is soft, almost fresh, and the cedar compliments both fantastically. One of the best from Jo Malone, good sillage and good performance too.

Heynicolex

I have this for 2 yrs and since then it's my signature scent. It really is a unisex scent but I love how it sits on my skin, it's woody and creamy rather than nutty. It also changes on my skin depends on the weather when it's sunny, it smells woody and a little bit metallic but pleasant and if the weather is cold, this really shines best, it's creamy, woody and a little bit green.

This gives me a confident boost and boss vibe. I get a lot of compliments while wearing this perfume. Surprisingly it also last on my skin 8-10 hrs just by 3 spritz. It's totally an underrated scent from Jo Malone.

Sol0013

Such a disappointing blind buy for me. It smells nothing like the notes listed. Unlike many other Joe malone fragrances that have a natural and literal smell as to their names, this one smells so synthetic.
I was hoping to get woods and use this perfume for layering but all I get is a disturbing chemical smell.
The very late dry down slightly hints at Terre D'hermes (which I adore).
I find this perfume too masculine for me. And something here smells like my grandfather (not in a good way!).
So over all, I'm very disappointed.
I hope I can return it or I'll be so mad at myself for blind buying yet another fragrance only based on the reviews!

kfrags88

This used to be my daily driver and Is absolutely amazing. I only moved to YSL Y as my signature scent now because I'm into the more gourmand type scent but this will be my second reach.

It's classy, it's unique and different of which no other male, at least around me has. To some it has an orange type scent but to me it's the smell of a confident man or women who knows what they want. It's in a way creamy, fresh and woody that gives off a very expensive vibe. But the way its put together can also be worn on all occasions.

I'd rather not many males know about this so that I'd remain unique but this is 100% underrated and I absolutely love this frag.

ekowala7

This is friggin' stunning. I would say this is the 'unisex' version of the very popular Chloe Nomade. Not that it smells the same, it doesn't at all, but it gives me the same carefree, cool and sexy vibe. This is warm, woody, heady and soft - all at the same time. I agree with the majority of the reviews that the hazelnut is soft, not like a toasted, smokey chestnut/hazelnut - literally a fresh green nut. The oak is also completely non-offensive and creamy.

Longevity is moderate, a good longevity for JM but average for most fragrance. The silage is soft.

Overall 7/10.

EDIT: After several wears, I'm noticing a really overly ripe greenish on the skin. I still like it but I've dropped my rating to reflect this. I wouldn't reach for this over Chloe Nomade or Bottega Veneta - which I feel as the same vein but better.

sam.newman

So I ended up buying this today, after sampling it on my arm several times.
I don’t know what it is, but this smells fresh yet woody and smells so so expensive.
It smells like an expensive furniture store, but has a twist that makes it personal and easy to wear without smelling commercial.
This is my first, and most probably only Jo Malone purchase - a stand out.

joey.w

Wow, this is fantastic stuff. One of the few Jo Malones (from their clear bottle line) that I would say is worth the price. This isn't a dark sweet "By The Fireplace" hazelnut, but an unripe, green, fresh off the tree hazelnut. And it lasts! This isn't just scented water like many other Jo Malones. Spray this on, and you'll have a proper, long lasting olfactory experience that is seriously enjoyable. I've had nothing but overwhelmingly positive feedback from this scent.

I was really skeptical when I saw that this smelled like Aventus, I mean really? Hazelnut and Oak?..
Well I just received my 100ml bottle today, and I can confirm that this certainly reminds me of Aventus! It doesn't *smell like* aventus, but it has fragments. A woody green nutty aventus.
I wasn't expecting this, but I'm not complaining.
The green side of this fragrance comes out in the first few minutes and remains me a lot of Jo Malone Basil & Neroli. Very sharp and piercing, and also a long lasting fragrance. Very authentic and natural.

A huge strong point for this fragrance is its versatility. I totally think that this is an all year round fragrance, and any occasion. I'd wear this shopping with a white T shirt, or formally with a suit. I think this could be fresh enough for summer too.

Good stuff! Jo Malone doesn't always deliver, but when they do, they deliver hard.

Update :3/3/2021 - - My opinion of English Oak and Hazelnut has only grown more positive. This should have been the next big thing in the "fragrance community", especially for men. What a fantastic scent. I wish this got more traction. Can't wait to wear this in autumn weather.

A.Bandini

There are fragrances that barely anyone could get themselves to call them unpleasant. This is one of those. A fine, gentle, very appealing and uplifting elixir and easily signature scent material due to its overall positive and pleasant vibe. Its a nice scent of oak and green, fresh, unripe hazelnuts.

Wwoman

I agree with other reviewers that the smell before dry down is iffy at best. But after the dry down, magic happens. I haven't jived well with most other Jo Malone fragrances (except Pomegranate Noir) but this one is surprisingly good. On me, it is definitely woody and nutty, but it almost has a slight sweet creaminess followed by that cedar freshness that I really adore. Totally different from most other Jo Malone combinations of fruit and flowers. If you haven't loved Jo Malone's other fragrances, this (and Pomegranate Noir) still deserve a try, especially if you love woody notes.

alanwake

Just lovely. Overall, nutty, woody, and outdoorsy. Definitely more notes than just three. I get a blast of grapefruit in the opening and it lingers in the background throughout its duration on my skin. I just love the hazelnut and oak combination, and it’s nutty characteristics. Really nothing else like it. I understand the Aventus vibe, but I’m also reminded of Spice and Wood a little as well. Don't let that steer you away, as this beauty does its own thing, and it does it well. Performance could be better, but it is an EdC. So, really can’t complain.

Norgirl

This fragrance is hard to describe . Its so comforting to wear , So warm inwiting and calming . It is on the masculine side , but there is still something in here that makes this so wearable for a woman aswell.
Its almost enpowering to me this scent . Grounds me and gives me strenght and calm . Woody , nutty and Tonka is what im picking up a slight touch of something green to lift it just abit.
this is also one of the Jo malones i have tested that lasts all day . no wallflower here .
Absolutly stunning for colder months ,feals quit preppy and almost abit formal to me . Also this feals very natural
I would think that you will be taken rather serious (not in a bad way ) wearing this .
im very happy to have a large bottle of this to wear autumn thru winter .

DrNDJas

If I didn't know the name of this fragrance, would I think I am smelling oak or hazelnut? No. This one is a very pleasant, light woody musk. I am not an "everything smells like Aventus" zombie, but as it dries down it gets more and more redolent of the King. Of course this is no clone, but the influence is there, and that is not a bad thing in this case. The woodiness is not harsh or overtly "manly" as it is blended very well into a creamy, smooth accord devoid (to my nose) of any cedar, which accounts for this effect. Or in other words, the woodiness here is deciduous rather than coniferous, which may be self evident based on the name...(you're now saying ‘DUH DrNDJas!‘) The fragrance has a light construction and would never fill a room. Longevity is not bad at all, as the fragrance persists on clothes and skin most of the day with 4-6 sprays. Overall, English Oak and Hazelnut is a gentle perfume that gives a masculine impression without bashing one over the head with it. Appropriately priced at just over $1/ml. Any more than that, I think one could do better.

EMIV

I like the scent a lot. It reminds me of a café with the dark wooden decor, and sunlight streaming in through the old single pane window, that my dad used to take me to when I was younger (during the day, for coffee, not to drink). Probably because those were heavy on the oak wood furniture.

Its a woody scent.
It does not suit me personally, but I would love this on a guy. I don't think you can really go wrong with this scent, its woody, not sweet, not watery, not spicy, just the smell of nice old school wooden furniture(without the screechy ness ). A great, "masculine-for-lack-of-a-better-word-but-fragrance-has-no-gender" day-to-day-fragrance.

I just paired it with jo malone mimosa cardemom, and it smells really good. Better than with red roses imo, spicy scents also match well

Iaespinozad

This cologne amazed me. Very good longevity. I bought a 30ml bottle and this is my opinion:

First of all, there are undeclared notes in this forum, which are mentioned on the Jo Malone page. First of all we have the green hazelnuts, just taken from the tree, which gives it that fresh and sharp touch. At the heart of the fragrance we have elemi, which gives it that spicy touch, vetiver and a carpet of moss, which give it an earthy character. In the background the star that is the oak.

This fragrance never had cedar.

Wonderful longevity and wake, masculine, evocative.

8/10

brianj13

Stunning fragrance. Easily in the top 5 fragrances I have ever smelled. It has an elegance and bright clarity that is perfect for the Fall. There is no scent in the line that rivals it and very few in any other lines.

Imagine a sunny October day walking in a field with woods nearby. It's about 65 degrees and the trees are turning color, contrasted against the deep blue sky. The morning had been crisp, but the afternoon is inviting and pleasant. That is this fragrance.

This is definitely unisex, but might tilt a bit toward the male side.

It lasts an acceptable amount of time, but is not a powerhouse in terms of longevity or sillage.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

GinCatsBooks

English Oak and Hazelnut was my first foray into the world of Jo Malone. I visited the store on a whim and ended up having a fragrance consultation, this was what I ended up walking home with.

EOH is a wonderful, truly genderless, natural smelling fragrance, and I have to say, I much prefer the fresh woody, green tones in this to the tart, sticky berry tones in English Oak and Redcurrant (which I think has been discontinued now)

EOH incorporates all aspects of woody notes that I love without feeling artificial or smelling incredibly masculine. Cedar is the strongest note on my skin, but it smells very real, like a freshly felled tree, the oak note is also there, but its more muted and subtle, I also get the hazelnut note but these aren't roasted hazelnuts or gourmand hazelnuts, these are green, fresh hazelnuts. The overall feeling is natural, like walking in a forest during the transitional season between autumn and winter. However, this does smell wonderful when lightly applied during the warmer weather, its versatile and gives a well groomed vibe. Its also wonderful when layered with Blackberry and Bay.

Longevity is good, roughly 7 hours of wear and a close to skin silage which is what I personally prefer in the majority of my fragrances, I don't like to fumigate busses lol

Future repurchase? definitely for as long as its still available!

Germany

This is a great perfume. It’s strong and very long lasting. Smells classic , natural ,woody and nutty. Loved this at first sniff. So happy Sephora sells it. I also have English oak and red currant and I love that also. It’s juicier and has a touch of patch but it has a very similar feel , position and smell as this one. They are both fresh ,organic , classy and herbal. They aren’t heavy though which is so refreshing. Both very aromatic and very unisex. High quality juice !
Gets you compliments :)

It’s very natural smelling like most Jo Malone’s. Nothing chemical and nothing unpleasant about them. It’s like a walk in the woods . Nice to layer this one with wood sage and sea salt. Also wore it with blackberry and bay! It’s a treat!

chipsotoole

I can see the similarities to Terre Hermes, but that one is a brutally strong and often overpowering one. I've had a bottle of it going on 5 years now and use it sparingly as too much of it induces headaches and to never seems to fade to anything else..
This one however has a beautifully subtle balance. There is a wonderfully nutty , forest blast at the start and it settles down to a very warm and comforting frangrance. Don't expect it to last more than half a day . If you're a man with a need to project , you'd probably have to reapply mid day.
For me the beauty and the simplicity of JM products is what is alluring. many here lament the price point and weak sillage as off-putting. I see it differently. A quality simple yet complex scent that dries down to an exquisite personal skin glow.
I Can't say if this is one for the ladies..I find it very masculine. This scent works particularly well in the Autumn and Winter months. Layering with Blackberry and bay or orange bitters certainly adds an interesting dimension. Forget date nights and grand seductions, this is one just for you to enjoy on your lonesome.

Liz70

I blind bought a small bottle of this with a gift card from Sephora and I really like it! Certainly a cold weather scent as its warm and cozy. I've said this a million times in reviews, but everything tends to smell sweet on me, so even though others have labeled this masculine, this is not masculine at all on me. I get a peppery, woody, smoky, spicy scent on my skin with just a hint of a feminine floral- perhaps rose? It sounds strange I know, but my skin chemistry is unique I guess!

Tobytwirl

Much less sweet, less pungent and less overpowering than I would normally wear. It is quite refreshing and "green" at first but mellows into a soft and warm fragrance, something like lying in a pile of dried leaves, if that makes sense!

Skywarp

Smells like a cheap version of Creed Spice and Wood. It's fresh and woody, quite nice.

TrueStarGold

I was given a small bottle of this by my grandmother’s sister when I went to visit her last year. Knowing how expensive Jo Malone is I only used in for uni during the winter months. It’s is a beautifully mature and sophisticated scent that lasts all day and requires only 2/3 sprays to get great silage and lasting power.

This smell lifts my spirits, boosts my confidence while also feeling comforting and warm - perfect for winter in a soft polarneck too and a tweed jacked for a walk in the woods and then a spot of tea in a garden centre.

farooq_sweden

Sillage is good atleast for Swedish weather 25c. i can still smell those samples in my room after 4 days. citrus+woody summer perfume for mature people.perfume develops really well and changes its notes which one can easily notice.

Luminan

This stuff is quite strong for a cologne.
I wore it for a few hours, went for a shower and I could still smell it after the shower.

At first I didn't like the fragrance, for it reminded me of an ecotoilet :D

But after wearing it for a While it became a very pleasent, woody, earthy scent. A bit manly but not too much.

I think I can smell the oak :)

agonzony

I wore this today and kept smelling Aventus, only to remind myself that I was in fact wearing Jo Malone.

arivas89

A very interesting fragrance, for reason of its similarities to a few very distinct, well-known, and great fragrances.

This is a very attractive and masculine smell, which projects well and garners compliments.

English Oak & Hazelnut has noticeable similarities to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver EDP, Terre d' Hermes Parfum, and Creed Aventus---though all of these fragrances are clearly distinct from one another.

Terre d'Hermes Parfum - If you feel that this fragrance has too much citrus, English Oak & Hazelnut (though not listed) has a significantly toned down note of citrus, while still being reminiscent of Hermes

TF Grey Vetiter EDP - Both are dominated by a woodsy/citrus profile. Grey Vetiver is "cleaner" and more formal in its scent character

Creed Aventus - Replace the fruits in Aventus with citrus and, while it would not be an identical fragrance, the two seem to have very discernible similarities

reubengod

It's kinda just the sum of it's parts, not much magic. I like it and wear it as a simple, fresh, woody, daytime, office etc. It makes me love others in my collection more, if that makes sense?

Michelle12345678

Smooth, beautiful scent. Creamy, delicious. Smells like woods and hazelnut. Not green, just woody with beautiful, creamy, smooth nuttiness.

Perfect for either a man or a woman. Rich, creamy hazelnut paired with woods from perhaps England or Wisconsin.

Update: 02/25/2019 Got a compliment today on this. (CLP)

Update 03/03/2019 Makes your clothes smell wonderful for days!

I find this to be a very sexy scent on a woman. Maybe it's the unisex-ness of it. When a woman has a hint of the masculine it can be gorgeous. That's what I get from this. Nutty, smooth, warm, with a masculine edge to it that suits the right mood. Made for warm nights inside.

LimbicSystem

This fragrance truly taught me about body chemistry -- it's very sensitive to your temperature and natural musk. I love describing scents based on the character and "personality", but EOH requires a more scientific, physiological, pheromonal characterization.

Case in point: The saleslady at the Jo Malone counter recommended the English Oak and Redcurrant -- I love woody, almost "masculine feminine" scents -- saying, "EOH is too sweet, almost heavy," she said. I insisted on trying the EOH, and to her surprise, it didn't smell as warm and cloying on me.

"It smells actually softer and 'natural' on you...on many others, it smells chemically or just, idk, too much," she exclaimed. To prove her point, she tried it on, and told me to smell it on her, and then to smell it back on me -- I could understand exactly what she meant!

CobraCommander

Smells like pencil shavings.

indigo

Nice greenish woody scent that doesn't smell "chemical" or loaded with IsoESuper to my nose (although I suspect it is in there). Also smells slightly herbacious to me, with a very clean & "crisp" edge to it. Reminds me a little bit of Sisley Eau de Campagne & anyone who likes that perfume would (I think) enjoy this. I'm wearing it now on a mild very windy Autumn evening, reminds of bracing walks in the English countryside! Yeah, I like it :)
I don't understand why anything that doesn't have notes of some form or other of sugar laden junk food gets tagged as "masculine". It's just another type of smell....and anyway, there's far too much sugar in the world already (imho) lol

InnaV

This Jo Malone EOH is definately not for the women who like girlish, sweet, flowery, heavy scents. I find it a bit masculine but I love the masculine fragrances!!! My husband says I become a powerful and mature woman when I am wearing it and trust me, it doesn't hurt at all :)

clintjr82

Hazelnut, wood and oak. Obviously masculine from the first impression.

Smells very good and masculine

The scent is woody good, nutty and oaky.

When you get a whiff, as I have, it goes to the MAN. I dont see woman wearing this unless she just like straight woody scents.

On another note, if you like Hazelnut, try Bottega Veneta, Parco # XI Castagno, much more awesome. Thats the only reason I didnt buy Jo malones, because of Bottega Venetas take.

rziotti

For me is in my top 5 the best from my collection, I don´t think that it is masculine, is very unissex, and can be perfect for women and men with no problem, in my skin is not masculine, I´ve receved a lot of compliments wearing English Oak & Hazelnut, for me everthing is perfect in it, Hazelnut, Oak, there are some sweet, but not to much, I bougth more one for my backup, I can´t live without this !! OMG !!!

c.davis

This is Awesome for a man, Masculine, being that I'm a Man. This Oud Bergamot, Wood Sage and Sea Salt are the most masculine.

chokthiwa

I was hesitating buying ENGLISH OAK&HEZELNUT or ENGLISH OAK&REDCURRENT. Normally im the fruity floral person but the salesperson suggested me to get ENGLISH OAK&HAZELNUT as a complement layering to the others fruity floral perfumes in my collections. For me, this is a magic. After a bath using the bodyshop peach smell soap i got 2 sprays of EOH and Bammm the magic happened. One day i use MON GUERLAIN and feel it is too sweet. I decide to layer EOH 2 sprays over MON GUERLAIN and bamm come the magic. EOH bring me refreshing, soothing, comforting. These open my world of woody. It turned from a like to a greatest love.

perfumeaddiction

I just started collecting Jo Malone recently. I decided to give this a whirl being unisex. Definitely very masculine. I gave it to my husband. I've got to say it's the best cologne he has now in his collection I love it on him. Very well constructed, smooth and sexy. Catnip for ladies for sure it's amazing. Not for a girl though IMHO.

Minikers

This is what a book smells like. LOVE it!

Bubbles1964

Uncomplicated and easy, this is a simple, natural wood, spice and earth scent with only a few ingredients. It stays linear, then fades in a couple of hours which is actually good for a Jo Malone. Perfectly unisex.

allwritey

EO&H is a transparent woody fragrance that opens with a bright, green, citrusy-spicy accord and mellows into a sweet-citric aromatic scent that reminds me of lemony-peppery pencil shavings. It's a lovely fragrance that evokes memories of opening old wooden desks stuffed with scented stationery and spices or those scented pencil erasers of my childhood.

The overall scent is fresh and bright but not soapy, with a hint of something roasted (but not smoky) in the background. It is quite linear once the top notes disappear. I think it's more suitable for cooler weather, although wearing it in warm Manila weather might make you stand out in a good way because it smells unique in a sea of citrus-freshies.

The drydown has the Jo Malone DNA -- easy-to-like, confident, simple, even if bordering on chemical. It leans a bit masculine but the herbal quality keeps it gender-neutral. Longevity is OK, but it can be helped a bit by spraying it on fabric. Overall, one of Jo Malone's more unique offerings. Try it!

sonjassharpiedchanelpurse

The first thing that came to my mind was - weed - as in natural, organic, grassy, mossy, the real thing: marihuana before you roll it. I can't wait to own this one soon. It is grassy but masculine and refreshing, probably and one I could use for 'everyday' wear. I like it so far.

chairat.luck.pluem

English Oak & Hazelnut by Jo Malone London is a Woody Spicy fragrance for women and men! It's unique, spicy.

WildDove

When I first got JM English Oak & Hazelnut, it reminded me of Terre d'Hermes, but after about 8 months it seems much sweeter and prettier. Maybe it needed to age more before being sold. I also get hints of candy and chocolate in it now that may account for its sweetness. I originally judged it as too masculine, but am very comfortable with what it has turned into.

ronin.jose

The name is misleading. I sort of expected it to be woody and nutty hence the name, but it wasn't! It opens pretty vegetal & green, like green vegetables, perhaps with a little bit of the tiny roots. But as it's drying down, the more i do get that cologn-like vibe. I'm not sure what cologne it is but it smell pretty familiar to me, perhaps like a drugstore brand baby cologne or something.

Jbar1

Tire swing. Spanish moss. Squirrels. Raccoons. That’s all this big ol’ oak is missing. Like the real deal, this is mighty and lasts. A perfect representation. Well done.

I_Like_Sand

This smells great but it smells nothing like I expected it to. Like others have mentioned it has this Terre d'Hermes feel to it. I also get strong similarities to Molecule 03 by Escentric Molecules. It's fairly linear and not at all as nutty as I'd hoped. Try before you buy, but I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed.

mmcdonald36

If Lululemon made a men's cologne, this is what it would smell like; in other words, this is likely catnip for modern yuppie women. You'll understand what I mean if you ever get the chance to smell it. It's like Santal 33 or Terre d'Hermes with all the even slightly challenging notes completely removed from it. It's stripped down, modern and brilliant

mmcdonald36

Smells like a more British version of an Hermes fragrance

Chrysolaga

I received a sample of this and ended up buying a small bottle of it. I guess I tend to be drawn to masculine scents, and this is fairly masculine to my nose. I do like earthy, woody natural fragrances. I tried the English Oak and Redcurrant, but it was a bit too sweet and floral for me, but my friend loved it and bought it.

Jassar

Sampled it for 2 days and then bought a 100ml bottle. I like simplistic fragrances that last all day and have average arms lengths projection and this is perfect.

Great for cool weather. Smells smooth, natural, earthy and woody. It is not "perfumey" at all. Smells like you have been outdoors in the woods. Listed as unisex but it is very masculine. I get a little Creed Spice & Wood minus the apple mixed with Molecule 01.

TopDonna321

Very simple, just the three notes and it smells unbelievable. Sometimes less is more and that is certainly true when it comes to this scent! It reminds me of my childhood as I spent a lot of time in the English countryside and definitely gives me an English stately home vibe. Very earthy and comforting, if you want to feel like you’re walking through a forest during autumn or winter then this one is for you.

HoneySuck

This just floats off my skin in the nicest way possible. It's natural, organic, hot, textural but light and grassy. I love this fragrance when I travel. I sprayed some recently before flying and it tucked me away into my own cocoon of comfort.

It's in no way cloying, or heavy. It's sexy without trying too hard because there's no sweetness there.

This is special.

ccromer

This is an instant classic. It smells classic and very modern at the same time. Anyone, of any age, could wear this. I'm not sure that any can say they don't like the scent. It may not be wearable for some people but the scent is fantastic. It has fairly good longevity, but sillage is pretty light. But when you do walk by someone and they get a whiff or hug someone they definitely take notice. Also, the marketing was spot on for this. The pictures for the ads described the scent for me. Well done!

jabar

Unfolds brilliantly then descends into a fiery Iso E Super abyss. Lasts long enough to forget the opening. For those seeking classy mediocrity.

This is a scent that I'd buy as a forever perfume in my collection, if it would last for hours on end. I love this. It's an incredible scent. It's SO grown up and mature, but has the flesh of an infant. This is remarkable to me.
Nov 1 2019
An angel traded with me and now I own this beauty. It's very masculine to me, but I love it so much! It does turn into something unisex, and is a very natural outdoorsy scent. Perhaps a bit like that of a person in the Netherlands. Male or female, coming in from the deepest darkest winter and having a cup of pine tea by the fire. This is a scent that gives me the most natural "not a perfume" smell and I love it! I do wish it had a longer stronger smell for its price.

gillbert

In the opening, smell really nice, sweet yummy delicious hazelnut but sadly why so easy to fade on my skin. I only get hazelnut vibe for 20 minutes then oak and cedar took over the juice to dry down, meaning hazelnut is very very minimal in this perfume. My conclusion is, this perfume is more focusing on dry down than opening.

Whiskey by Commodity is far better in term of sillage and longevity and worthy buy, credit for Commodity house. JM Malone is expensive but lack of longevity and sillage (according to Oak Hazelnut)

JohnnyCR

This is becoming a favorite of mine. It’s light, very light, but it lasts a good amount of time. This is my first Jo Malone and it makes me want to explore this house even more. It is fresh, but has a good depth that makes it work for Fall, but it is probably too light for Winter. I particuarly like it on warm Fall days.

When I spray this one on my wife always says, “I love that one!” And she rarely comments on my fragrances.

This is a good one, check it out if you get a chance.

qatarkind

It's a woody, classy, fresh, and sweet. Very high quality ingredients. I love it I enjoy wearing it. Totally unisex.

WildDove

English Oak and Hazelnut is a light, clean version of fresh cut wood, with an occasional whiff of spices of the winter holidays. Very simple. Skews masculine in my opinion. Reminds me of Terre d' Hermes.

LoreleiBluebird

Very, very green hazelnuts. Aggressively green in fact. It's way too sharp and screechy for something that sounds like it should fit the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. I don't feel the wood base smells like oak at all.
It's very masculine IMHO.
Longevity is better than a lot of Jo Malone offerings.

bertranddeux

A new fragrance from the brand that makes me weak right down to the knees is English Oak and Hazelnut . Alongside English Oak and Redcurrant these two new scents are going to be a part of the regular line and while that's good news there's two existing scents that will be discontinued. I've read online that Jo Malone commissioned this Roasted Oak Absolute which is exclusive for the brand for 5 years, a single note used for the first time in perfumery.

An opening of crunchy nutty fresh Green Hazelnut, with a burst of Grapefruit delivering that zesty bitterness and Elemi (sourced somewhere in Southeast Asia) embracing that peppery and bright quality of the other top notes. The heart elegantly combines the woody and dry character of Cedarwood, a little green herbaceous Geranium and earthy, grassy Vetiver rounded up with a warm base of Roasted Oak layered with amber and the verdancy of Moss that completes that earthy, forest woodiness.

This scents screams pure enchantments wrapped in woody tenderness; crisp with a wisp of smoky and deep air reminiscent of walking along mossy woods conjuring memories of a deep and profound love for the wilderness and beyond.

The scent only comes in 3.4 oz and 1 oz cologne bottles; no bath and body or candle versions which was probably the saddest news I've heard after the discontinuation of Nutmeg & Ginger & White Jasmine & Mint.

This layers beautifully with Blackberry and Bay adding that vibrant fruity tart freshness and my favorite combination so far, with Wild Bluebell for that dewy infectious luminosity.

MarzeFalame

Yeah!! Thats right, it smells something familliar to me... its a spicy version of CREED AVENTUS!! OMG!
The English Oak and Hazelnut is a must. Now available in the Philippines

antonpan

Vetiver + ISO e super. For lovers of Terre d'Hermes and other vetiver fragrances of that type.

sugarvenom82

Sexy, classic yet modern. Love the green hazelnut that develops in the beginning and the vetiver is a nice accompaniment to the oak. This to me smells like a slightly sweeter variant of Chanel's beloved Sycomore EDT and I for one am very happy with this addition to Jo Malone. Love.

Floffles

Yes yes yes!! When I tried the T. Mugler that featured hazelnut, I was greatly let down. With this one, I get that nice subtle note of it that blends with my body chemistry quite well. Also, compared to English Oak& Red Currant, this one was not TOO outdoors woodsy.

My only complaint:
Jo Malone, for the price, does not last the test of time. Seriously gone-inski in 3 hours flat!

RubyBirdy

Not getting any hazelnut here, I'm afraid. Smells like it would fit in as one of Penhaligon's men's line: dandy barbershop. Disappointing. Smells like half an effort.

Eganda

I received a tester of both English Oak & Hazelnut, English oak & Redcurrant! My JM counter in Oberhausen Germany just informed me that I was one of the lucky ones who will receive both fragrances in 30 ml as a special gift!
I have tested the English Oak & hazelnut last Saturday, and for me, it is very Jo malone. Since i have almost all of their actual fragrances, I would say that this one belongs to the woody spicy family, very similar to 154 and Ginger & nutmeg....not at all the same smell, but if you love woody and spicy fragrances then this is for you!
I love it anyways....

WhiteVelvet

This sounds and looks very unique. I usually like Jo Malone perfumes and colognes. I will try this one when I can. I like the notes listed.
