When a review begins with "Oh my God!" one can safely assume that the perfume is Heavenly or at least Divine. Indeed, Theorema is a heavenly scent. It is a warm, comforting hug from an Immortal. A ray of light on a Dark day. One can well imagine that Elysium smells like this. Such a tragedy that it was discontinued.

takema

Theorema has a scent profile that isn't all that unique. There are numerous spiced amber scents out there. Somehow I still find this unique.

It opens as a slightly sweet, spiced orange. In the opening the spices are more aromatic, as the scent develops they become warm, cozy and rich. There is a lightness to this fragrance despite it being a warm spicy amber. I never find it heavy or cloying. As the fragrance dries down the tartness from the citrus fades into the warmth of the amber and resins, making a wonderful base for the spices. Thankfully the spices never get skanky. There is a sweetness to this fragrance, but it is never over the top and is balanced well with the other accords. The woods and florals are always present, but are supporting players throughout the wear.

Theorema is sensual, classy and beautiful. It's a more womanly than feminine. I picture this being the fragrance of a bold, confident woman. This is a fragrance that has aged very well. It was released 25 years ago, but doesn't smell dated. I find it more classic...one of those things that never really goes out of style.

The performance has been excellent for me. The projection is light to moderate, but leaves a beautiful trail. A heavy application does increase the projection, but I find that takes away some of the beauty of this fragrance. One of the things I really love about it is how it dances around me when I am wearing it. It never feels like it is clinging to my skin. Instead it is just floating around with me all day.

I only tend to wear Theorema on cooler days. The scent profile is not one I gravitate to in warmer weather. I especially like to wear it around the holidays. It's like mulling spices and oranges...a perfect accompaniment to Christmas

I love the packaging. The simplicity of the design is very applealing. The shape of the bottle is interesting and unique while still being understated.

I don't have many backup bottles in my collection, but Theorema warrants one if I find another reasonably priced bottle.

Another OMG! A real wrist sniffer. Beautifully blended. Wish I had bought it when it came out but am lucky to have small splash vials. To sum up my love for this one is, Man! I feel like a woman!🎵 If anyone wants to let theirs go and has taken care of this beauty please let me know. Swap shop!

Oh my god
This is sublime
I have the extrait which doesn't have a page on fragrantica so I will leave my review here
This is a beautiful well blended scent
It's warm ,cozy ,spicy ,cozy and sophisticated.
It has so many notes that all shines in here in a perfect way.
Oh how I love the nutmeg and cinnamon here it gives the scent this warm sweet spicy touch with amber and benzoin that enhances the warmness and sweetness balanced with woods to not lean into being gourmand and the pepper and citruses giving that bright fresh zesty kick to it and cardamum adds dryness to it with the classic Ylang ,jasmine and rose combo that's classic but gives the scent body structure with fruity nuances from rose hip and osmanthus that also gives a velvet like texture to it and with sandalwood that gives it classiness and sophistication.
It's spicy Oriental in a soft mild way that blended beautifully with citruses and I smell orange in this warm spicy orange almost candied with rose and floral notes that's surrounded by this beautiful fruity nuances with ambery woody base.
It's unique enveloping and sensual.
The extrait acts like a second skin, it's like that's your own natural scent that's sensual and inviting.

Oh my God, I found my Holy Grail with Fendi Theorema. I don't need any other perfume anymore. I don't know what I'll do if I don't find Theorema on Ebay or Etsy anymore, but for now I'm reassured. I'm not upset that the perfume wears close to the skin and has almost no sillage. I smell it when I put it on and it brings out the best in me. And that's enough for me. That's me. And that's how I experienced what it means to find the ONE perfume.

tlusif

Theorema is a cozy orange creamcicle; Osamanthus with amber/oriental nuances, more aromatic than woody or spicy. Artfully blended spices and gentle geranium provide the punch that elevates Theorema to the 'best of' category. Theorema is not a challenging amber and there is something to be said about a 'comfort-spray' in today's niche era that seems to spit out fragrances that are specifically designed to challenge the wearer, as if to prove their price tag.
Although my heart belongs to Fendi's Fendi, Theorema offers a beautiful, classy, and comfortable amber experience with enough oomph to make me return for sprays over and over. It makes 'best of' lists for a reason.
Somewhat disappointing silage and longevity.
(Vintage eau de parfum).

It broke my heart when Fendi Theorema was discontinued. Theorema was a deliciously spicy warm fragrance. It doesn't list orange (just orange blossom) in the notes but on my skin it screamed sticky syrupy orange with lashings of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon. My husband loved it when I wore Theorema - so much so that he bought me a bar of the beautiful shiny gold theorema soap so that i could layer the fragrance. The packaging on Theorema was exquisite as well with the black and gold box fastened with a small wooden rod. I still have about a 1/3 of a vintage bottle which I reserve for special occasions like our anniversary.

D&gredcap

Oh my god I am loving this beautiful gem ....I am getting church vibe ....it reminds me so much Tom Ford Sahara Noir

Phantomias

Cardamom spice bomb! Fendi does spice notes really well, and T. shows why. It's not as "thick" or rich as original Fendi Fendi, but it's very good on its own. Trends a little masculine, def. unisex, sophisticated and stylish.
Sillage is modest, lasting power is a little better. Unlike Fendi Fendi, Theorema is work safe.

churinl

I already reviewed this, but wearing this today, a few days after Christmas, and reading through reviews mentioning gingerbread and candied orange, I realized how much Theorema calls to mind Panettone, the Italian Christmas bread! Makes sense when you think of it, since Fendi is an Italian house.

Roses and Spices

Wow. Boozy and Gourmand and Sexy. Beautifully blended. A classic composition. I bought it years ago when I was younger and in Italy and it still retains its composition. Amazing.

missk

Dabber sample vials are tricky to use at the best of times, and when too tired one might accidentally tip an entire vial onto their wrist. This was the unfortunate case with Fendi Theorema, as an entire 3ml ended up saturating my clothes and covering my entire right arm. Thank goodness the scent was bearable in large doses.

Fendi Theorema is a beautifully composed spicy woods scent. Although marketed to women, this fragrance could just as easily be worn by men also. This fragrance is how I expected Guerlain's Samsara to smell; exotic, mysterious and elegant. I can now see why Fendi Theorema has a multitude of fans that mourn her disappearance from the shelves.

The opening is a tad sour and astringent with black pepper, rose hip, cinnamon, cardamom, carnation and lemon. I wasn't so convinced in the initial stages, yet as this fragrance developed further I came to enjoy its aroma. The rosewood and gaiac wood notes soften this fragrance considerably, creating a smooth, sensual woodsy-spicy scent.

Fendi Theorema is the kind of fragrance you would reach for when meeting with friends at a fancy wine bar or when dressing to impress. It hints at evening-themed frivolity and becomes an easy scent to crave during the cooler weather. The sillage is moderate on my skin, and the longevity an impressive six to eight hours, (I did, however, apply more of this fragrance than I bargained for, so perhaps the hefty dose attributed to the excellent lasting power).

Vanillastorm40

Every time I wear this, I probably go through at least 0.5 ounce because I love it so much but longevity and sillage leave much to be desired. I have some of the mini dabbers and I use a whole one each time I wear this and it's way too expensive to be doing that. The scent is Beautiful though, if only it had more oompf. Meh.

Cecanonymous

I was 18 years old (in 2000) and my mom was using this adorable perfume! Lovely scent! Memories..

churinl

Believe the hype. I managed to acquire an 85% full bottle at a reasonable price and I think it's incredible! I have been transitioning into my heavier amber/spice/incense orientals for the past few weeks. Many of them end up smelling just like the one I wore the day before, with subtle differences only apparent if you're paying attention. Theorema is different.
Yes, it is spicy and loaded with cinammon, and amber and benzoin are there providing smoothness and an oriental touch, but something sets this apart and makes it immediately identifiable as Theorema. Is it the nutmeg?? I don't know!! They list lemon as a note, but I detect something closer to tangerine.
As it mellows out, it becomes sweeter, with a faint floral dusting. Very decent projection, silage, and longevity. I have and have had several different Fendi perfumes over the years and this one is undoubtedly their masterpiece. I am so happy that it's now mine. If you can afford the prices it is going for then get it. It's niche quality.
EDIT - It is definitely the nutmeg that makes this so unique. I smell it quite clearly now in the top and middle, and it is delicious.

mlgrntr

According to the packaging, here are the notes in Fendi Theorema
TOP: THAI SHAMOUTI, EGLANTINE, CALIFORNIA TANGELOS
MIDDLE: JASMINE PETALS, AFGHAN SPICES, CINNAMON, PINK PEPPER, OSMANTHUS
BASE: SPICY DUST / MUSK, HEART OF MACASSAR, SWEET CREAM / AMBER, GAIAC [sic] WOOD, MYSORE SANDALWOOD

I bought this when it came out and break it out every autumn when the temperature and relative humidity goes down. I love this scent's top and middle notes, but I agree with other reviewers that it doesn't last. It quickly degrades to the base notes, and often it's the sharp amber that comes through strongest, especially when temperatures are warmer.

Vanillastorm40

Me again, lol. My goodness, the longevity and sillage of this beautiful perfume is non-existent. What a Shame. I used a while mini bottle 3 hours ago and it's gone.

Vanillastorm40

Also, I get a ton of nutmeg and vanilla on the drydown. This really does smell like candied fruits and nutmeg/vanilla. I SO WISH that this would last on my skin and project more. This beautiful scent sticks very close to the skin ☹️.

Vanillastorm40

So pretty. I'm obsessed with vintages lately. This reminds me a lot of Dolce Vita, a fave of mine. I only wish it had better sillage.

jung_yunho26

Those who have this are extremely blessed.

And I’m glad that someone mentioned Feminite du Bois. But there is an uncanny resemblance; Theorema just manages to convert an overly-used mandarin orange to become candied but it’s missing the liquor of Feminite.

There’s also a slight smokiness underneath or perhaps that comes from black pepper with nutmeg? In any case, this is Fendi’s treat. Pretty but not insubstantial. Sweet but complex. It feels like every accord here has been accentuated by candied oranges.

People mention it being reminiscent of Christmas or of the sort. Well who could blame them? When a perfume makes you feel cozy like when you eat your comfort dessert or when it’s the holiday season just around.

Happiness bottled.

Coquita

I blind-bought a mini to add to my "new millennium cinnamon collection" (Le Tigre, Organza Indecence, L), and I couldn't be happier. I love this kind of scents, but I must say that this one is special due to a smokey note I detect (guaiac? benzoin?) which makes it less gourmand and sexier than its cousins. Needless to say, it's so comforting it'll go straight to my favs, what a pity it has been discontinued.

Having been a huge Theorema girl, I have to say that between the poor longetivity of my recent decant and the near impossibility of actually buying a vintage bottle, I am sad to say that it is now off my list of favs. I did really LOVE it, but I think I can move on to other easier to find perfumes which last much longer anyway. My love, you broke my heart :(

alittlebrittle

I can’t recall the exact year, but it must’ve been sometime in 1998 when I purchased my then-just-released bottle of Theorema from Saks, which was (rather dangerously) right around the corner from my shop in Old Town Pasadena. It was a warm autumn, bordering on hot, as it was often in the odd, slightly artsy, not-quite-Los Angeles-not-quite-the-‘burbs little corner of mi barrio, and I was SO thrilled at my new purchase, I actually CALLED a friend, VIA MY LANDLINE (if I recall correctly, I also had an “answering machine”, the kind with the little red light that would only blink when and if someone had left a message. My already-mercurial emotions were gauged by that darn light: Blinking or Steady....!?) to extol the virtues of this amber-hued elixir in the drop-dead gorgeous box (that BOX! UGH. Perfection!). I read off the accords that are printed on the left inner flap in gold foil, and I think I paced the wood floors of my tiny bungalow, so hyped one would think I’d won the state lottery.

I had also purchased Kenzo Jungle Le Tigre that same year, and had Jungle L’Elephant form the previous year, so needless to say, I was afloat in a golden, citrus, Oriental amber sea of bliss by the beginning of the new millennium. Alas, it wasn’t long before that same diligence-of-a-magpie that has me switching jobs, partners, addresses, hell, countries with a blip of my beady black eye, had me firmly planted in the then-few offerings my new-found love, Comme des Garçons, my gateway drug that tossed me down the rabbit-hole of “niche” perfumery. #aliseinwonderland #dontdrinkmesmellme.

So, out went my “designer/department store” fragrances. With a few exceptions, I was primarily Boutique Betty for over a decade, and had all but forgotten about my intense adoration of goddess-granted fragrances such as this cinnamyl/gingerbread/orange peel/sandalwood wonder.

Until a few years ago, when I became more of a “collector”, than just a “shopper”, and less of a niche-snob, I welcomed a few, now vintage, gems back into the fold.

Now I adore Theorema with more of a wistful loving, tinged with a bit of longing and a tad of melancholy, perhaps for days gone by? Like that feeling when you’re homesick...but you’re already home, or missing something, someone or somewhere that you know you’ll never experience in quite the same way again. It can’t compete with the complexity, or the opulence of some of my other fragrances, and to me it’s a fairly simple blend of warm spices, and a bushel of satsuma. In fact, most of the other nuances can be slightly bogged-down by the sweet orange accords.

BUT. But.

I really do love Theorema with all of my whittle black heart. More often than not these days, I need the simplicity of a fragrance that just smells so damn GOOD, I need to roll around on the big, plush, golden brown, cinnamon & saffron-orange carpet of Theorema, contented as a kitten, and recall, not necessarily better, or worse days, but just different days, with fondness and clarity. I can’t state much more than has already been stated, but I’ll add in closing that my Theorema, as well as my much-loved Jungle Le Tigre, and my Jean Patou Sublime, while not the most complex, unusual, or artisan fragrances, are still a few of my most comforting. They reside at the front of my collection, like little golden testaments to the longevity of true beauty, happily elbowing for space with my “weirdos”, artisans, indies, & niche guys, and I’m never letting them go again.

I have a big bottle, and would love to share this liquid joy with anyone who wants it.

Annabear

I recently bought a 30 ml bottle of EDP on eBay for a very nice price, code number 4000611 which apparently means it was produced in 2015 or any multiple of 10 years earlier according to the check code sites. I don’t think it was still being made in 2015 and I don’t know when it was discontinued.
Theorema is indeed a Christmassy fragrance, at first sniff I got a smokiness which underlies the citrus, followed by gingerbread biscuits baked with candied orange peel. It sounds like it should be a gourmand but it isn’t, to me at least it’s a spicy balsamic oriental.
Gorgeous and dreamy, unlike anything else I own, am glad to have it in my collection.
Lasts about 5 hours.

LOST MASTERPIECE. The first scent that led me on a real frag quest. After reading so many ecstatic memories and reviews of it here, and loving other Fendis, I had to find some - and only then found out the tragic tale of its discontinuation and its lasting cult following. It was mentioned so often in the same breath as my woody-spicy loves that I had to have it. The tremendously kind and generous user @Planet_X gifted me a decant and it was confirmed. Yes I had to have it. Then went on a wending odyssey through US decant sales houses and some strange international corners of eBay - and thanks to another brilliant fragrantian, @corkscrewcurly, struck it lucky to get some miniatures at a reasonable rather than vintage-silly price.

It's astonishing. Stunning woods, spices, warmth, class without being intimidating, individual without being freaky, sweet without being sickly. Zingy fresh lemon (and SURELY a good load of orange too?) up the top, cycling into some of the warmest, most tasteful, most nuanced cinnamon and nutmeg and woods I've ever smelled. Having smelled around more I think it might have, or mimic, the note of gaiac/palo santo which is never ever a bad thing. Just gorgeous from any angle. Makes you feel all put together. This is how it ought to be done. For once the cultists aren't deluded, because this one truly deserves to be worshipped.

And whoever discontinued it deserves to be named, shamed and exiled from the world perfume community for all time. (Well, OK, maybe that's a little vengeful, but it should convey how all-around great this one is, that a complete unknown could stir me to such passion. ) Nobody in my life ever wore this, it's not specifically evoking any special memories, it's not even the most luxe or most artistic frag I own. Yet I feel it's made just for me ... and thousands of other fans feel the same! A perfume version of that politicians' charisma that makes everyone they talk to feel like the only person alive, no doubt.

Donna Karan Black Cashmere comes closest to a substitute .... but of course that, too, is discontinued. *weeps in frustration* . For my money Theorema should be Number One Candidate for an international fragheads' petition for reprieve from oblivion. Someone should dupe, or buy up the formula for, this and bring it back from the near-dead. Transcendental.

StellaDiverFlynn

Although mandarine and orange are not listed as notes, the candied orange opening of Fendi Theorema EDP is mouthwatering. A honeyed amber sweetness soon sweeps the scene along with a small handful of all spices, among which the fresh woody nutmeg and sweet spicy cinnamon are the most discernable to my nose.

This combination of notes smells quite gourmand to me and is very suggestive of pain d'épices or gingerbread. However, except for its opening 20 minutes, its overall sheer texture and diffusiveness effectively keeps it from being cloying. Moreover, flickers of fresh woody notes invigorate the composition thanks to their contrast with the resinous warmth.

Theorema is more or less linear once the delectable amber warmth adorned with gentle spices settles in. It just gradually becomes more and more abstract and turns into a honeyed skin scent after about 3 hours. The overall sillage is very intimate, and the longevity is barely 6 hours on my skin.

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed during my first few times wearing Theorema. I enjoyed the fragrance, but it was not as striking as I thought it would be, probably because it's easier for me to justify the hype with an opulent, highly contrasted fragrance than a relatively gauzy comforting one like Theorema.

But the more I wear it, the more I start to see that its rather translucent approach to a gourmand oriental is actually its strength. It perfectly showcases Christine Nagel's skill to make a perfume satisfyingly delicious and cozy without being suffocating, which is probably the reason why Theorema has such a wide appeal. This type of sheer gourmand being quite popular these days, I imagine Theorema might work quite well if it was introduced in today's Hermès or another designer brand's exclusive collection.

I would hesitate to recommend it because of its rarity, but if you're looking for a soft cozy ambery fragrance reminiscent of Christmas cakes and gingerbread and can sample it at a reasonable price, I think Theorema will worth a try.

Ooooo, I loved my Fendi Theorema - is hard to get in Norway - we can skiies - and oil and petrol and gas - and Rolex - but not good perfumes :(

ptilda

From a mini dauber.

This is a lovely dry, earthy, spicy fragrance. I like it a lot. A few more wearings will determine if it's a love enough to hunt down a FB. Either way, definitely a joy to experience. Thanks so much to the gifter.

Soofiya

I have a habit of sniffing my wrist closely once every two or three minutes when I'm testing a perfume but I had to stop doing so when I was testing theorema,it seems very strong, even sharp when I glue my nose to the place I've applied it.it has great sillage so that I can easily smell it without doing so and the whiffs my nose is catching are magical,so gorgeous that I know that I have to have it in my collection and it's also totally wearable in modern day life
I'm glad that I can't detect much of rosewood or carnation as they usually overpower other notes for me.on my skin it's a combination of flowers and spices in a warm and sweet base of honeylike amber(which reminds me amber of Yves saint Laurent cinema, another favorite of mine)and creamy woods and benzoin
All spice notes and florals are so well blended that I don't pickup separate notes.just a warm, sweet, spicy, creamy, rich, delicious, inviting, charming, golden scent.something memorable and with personality.I was expecting something oldish and very spicy but I was wrong.it's beautiful, strong and the only fendi perfume I love(albeit I haven't tried many)
For me,it's a fall and winter/night scent
Love it

There are a few fragrances that I still cannot fathom why they've been discontinued. Many, many years after they have been taken away from us, they are still complete legends in the perfume world. No one will ever forget them, and fragrance lovers who never had the chance to know them, seek them out just to try to imagine what they've missed. I've been on various fragrance boards for almost 20 years now, and the legends live on. What happened to the formulas? Isn't there some way to recreate them, even if not exactly, to the point where we could enjoy even a ghost of their magic? Theorema is one of those legends that should have been a CLASSIC, not discontinued! Also, Escada Collection, Ralph Lauren Safari, Venezia, Angelique Encens, Lea St. Barth, Chanel Gardenia...the world needs these beautiful creations.

Xeres

This beautiful, beautiful fragrance. I add my wails of woe to those who mourn its discontinuation.

Unusually for me, I bought this on a perfume shopping-trip with my mother. Unusually I say, because usually I will sniff my way through the perfume counter, try on a few, or one, then go away, to see how it develops. This one was love at first sniff.

Theorema is Drambuie in a perfume. Complex, intoxicating, spicy, boozy, golden. Best longevity I've ever had in a perfume. Every level is more wonderful than the last.

Please, please help me find another perfume that approximates it? One that isn't discontinued?? I'm dying here!

NouveauDruid

Fendi Theorema, how I loved thee. Let me count the ways in which I miss your sweet, woody, spicy, Dr. Pepper with Indian food aromas. 1. You smelled delicious from the first spray. 2. You stayed with me from dawn to dusk to midnight, layered as you were on my skin with the body wash, the lotion, and your juicy spray of delectable liquid. 3. Your maker discontinued you, pushing the memory of your scent into my head and heart because my wallet cannot afford you. 4. Hmm, maybe I'll splurge if I can ever find you again, my love. I'll take you out and wine you, dine you, and treat you like the precious and rare specimen you are. Sigh.

polly golightly

camden-girl

There does not seem to be a separate section for the "parfum d'extrait version of THEOREMA." So if I'ts OK ,I'll leave it here.
I know I'm very very lucky to have been bought this from my partner as an anniversary gift as it's discontinued and rare.( Hubby:Thank-you thank-you thank-you!!!)
This is even deeper and has more rich amber and Jasmine than the Edp. I love the Edp very much I think it has more spices than the parfum d'extrait, yet this is more oily and thicker if you shake bottle gently holding glass top in place of course.so this is a little less spices but somehow still heavier and prominent orange, probably more pink pepper in the Edp version and more sandalwood in the pure pafum ? I'm no expert so hard for me to say.

It's a stunning bottle with its magical glass dipper instead of a spray, 25 ml.
It has slightly better staying power than the edp i guess due to the essential oils and fact that parfum is richer.
I absolutely LOVE this just as i love the Edp and the summer version.
why was this taken off the shelves ? this perfume smells like heaven and money ! its sooo classy and expensive smelling, orange and spice and all things nice but done in a way that is soo classy.

Top notes are listed in box as:
Thai shamouti
Eglantine
California tangelos

Mid notes:
Jasmine petals
Advanced spices
Cinnamon
Pink pepper
Osmantheus
Base notes:
Spicy dustmusk
Heart of Macassar
Sweet creamamber
Gailac wood mysore sandalwood

Basically it's SICK !!!!

Edit:
I'm lucky enough to own a baby collection of say 45 fragrances , all of them Dior , Chanel, tom ford etc.
I will say this is my most treasured one it's perfection. Pure parfum, filled with rich oils, this has to be my most ***FAVOURITE*** perfume ever ! I've not yet found anything that beats this in this parfum version. It's treasured :)

edit: dropped this beauty in sink and It smashed , managed to keep a few mls in a different empty splash bottle but talk about gutted !

mypersonalharmonics

Used to love this one.
Just wanted to share that I found a dupe named
"Oiseau d'amour-Marine" by Dorall Collection,
in a completely misleading blue box-blue juice that makes you think of aquatics.
I was surprised upon spraying, since I don't usually touch blue perfumes;) But this is great.
Rediculusly cheap, try it if you have a chance and if you miss Theorema. The dupe is only more orangey-clean in the opening, less creamy, but it gets there.

camden-girl

I Finally got myself a bottle of this based on fact that I have the ESPRIT de ete version ( summer )which is pretty amazing.
At first I was unsure my esprit de ete is an edt yet my bottle of this an edp so firstly I felt it was a bit of a let down in strength as it did not seem that strong really I was expecting a booming fragrance but alas no :(

However it is fairly strong for the first hour or so and when it seams to back off a bit it still remains for a few hours as a strong floating skin scent. But what it lacks in projection it more than makes up for in quality, this is simply lovely and smells exquisitely expensive and comforting to my nose.
Soft orange first then cinnamon and cream.
It's elegant and expertly blended with just enough spiced rose on the dry down.
It does not shout , it is not loud , it kisses your skin and is very sensual with a bright happy feeling from the orange and sun warmed amber ,Oriental ,soft finishing touches. This is mentioned to be a softer version of armani prive ambre so now that's on my list well what an advertisement!! Back to fendi lol,
Which do I like best this edp or its sister fragrance the Espirit de ete version??? Unsure really as esprit is a bit fizzy like champagne so is just as lovely as this slightly spicier fragrance, truth is I will be gutted when either of my dreamy sweet adorable THEOREMAs go to their last drops.

I will say do not over pay for this as bottles are getting older and this looses its power a little to a lot over the years sadly.
This has become one of my go to fragrances, I love it, sooo classy and elegant a favourite !!!

FENDI perfume ROCKS ! I love this perfume and the bottle too ,so classy!!
Why don't fendi make fragrance any more ? ?
Tis a shame !

gtabasso

Citrus and weird not as sweet or complex as Shalimar then dries down really herbal then down to a dry herbal light scent reminiscent of SL Ambre Sultan

glittergalz

smells like fresh wet, fruity, mossy, rotting wood straight from the redwood forest. Sprayed onto your neck behind your hair will last the whole day evoking primitive thoughts from the male minds.....

I could never do without it :-) my true love and one of the most gorgeous scents which always accompanies me at Christmas time - its each drop encapsulates for me the essence of this time of year.

Sugar, Spice and everything nice - yes, I find this Powerpuff Girls quote perfectly applicable to Theorema. Except Theorema revolves around deep, brown molasses and dusty, incense like spices. Oh, and let's not forget that zesty citrus accord woven through it's composition, like a shimmering, golden thread. Theorema has become my most worn perfume since I bought it.

It opens up with an almost Coca Cola like blast - fizzy, cool and energetic. The citrus is the most dominant note at the beginning. Juicy and fresh are its nuances, and the sweetness is provided by the jasmine and neroli. The citrus and florals are combined with the spices, which form a very interesting synergy: a sweet citrus, underscored by dusty, powdery spices which from an incense-y impression. Very wonderful and very unique.
The opening fades rather quickly. It's almost like a burst and it's followed up by a medley of more spices and cinnamon. However, it does not become too dry, because the spices are balanced out by the florals. I can't seperate any of them but they perform a support for the spices. Think of the sweetness of flowers you're smelling from a distance, rather than smelling them up close.
The middle notes reign supreme for quite some time, but over time they morph together with the base notes. At this point the fragrance diffuses like a cloud and turns into a skin scent. It becomes very creamy and warm. Most noticeable are the silky amber and benzoin. These are supported by the guaic, rose and sandalwood, which provide a woody tinge, almost alike pencil-shavings.

This Fendi creation has become my signature for a while now and it's the only scent I've bought two backup bottles of. It's very easy to wear and merges beautifully with my chermistry. It gives me a warm and cheerful aura. I've tested it on two other friends and it simply fell apart on them. Very weird I must say.
Sillage is huge the first hour, but it drops rather quickly. I think it becomes a hovering skin scent because I can smell it every now and then throughout the day. I see lots of people commenting on the rather low sillage - to be honest, I don't think it would have benefited from more, otherwise it could become too overpowering with all the spices and such.
A very beautiful, tender creation and worth the high prices nowadays. Such a shame Fendi doesn't produce any scents anymore. Even Furiosa had some resemblance to it's older sister.

endge

I get clove note, even if cloves are not listed. Strong cinnamon and cloves wack me over the head. It feels like a 100 megawatt amplified Rochas Absolu, played at high frequency. It might be an excellent thing if you love mulled wine sort of spice, because Theorema is boozy too, grog or vermouth-like style. I know it has a legion of devoted fans, good for them, but I'll take Rochas Absolu.

Teorema

Like all Fendi fragrances, another great one bites the dust! So, Fendi...when are you going to bring this back? Probably never. Now you just want to me to sell my soul for another bottle...I just want to smell like spicy oranges again.

juji

I'm always on the lookout for a bottle of this. Please let me know if you have it and are up for a swap. Thanks!

miletas89

In the most lay of all layman's terms ever, it smells like a spiced bubblegum. Very enchanting, enticing, draws you in, seductive and warm. Youthful yet sexy.

rostov14

Androgynous scent- pure sophistication! The charm-alarm continuum that presents two facets equally: feminite, enchanting and seductive, with its intriguing bouquet of a cardinal carnation, crucial white flowers and tender rose accords; and also masculine, sharp and victorious with all its spiciness, woodiness and amber..geezerness....
No powderness at all here, and with just a hint of sweetness, the scent transcends the fairy tale of Cinderella and takes you directly into the domain of Persian 'A Thousand and One Nights' with all that lethal charm of Shahrazad, where you can't help but abandon yourself and be abandoned inevitably....
Bon Appetite anyway!
Unique perfume and yet it reminds me of my beloved Nu Yves Saint Laurent EDP with its fantastically nipping resinous tail. Paragon of decadence! And both of them are discontinued. What a shame!

LetThereBeMe

A spicier Feminite du Bois (Serge Lutens) with a candied zest of orange in the opening.

cgendron

Smells wonderful but masculine IMO

juji

Oh...MY.
I can't even begin to describe this because my eyes have rolled back into my head. WHY, oh why, do they discontinue these beauties?! All I have is a 2ml sample gifted to me and I'm guarding it with my life.

jenniewebb

This perfume reminds me of the mixed spices, candied peel and booze that you add to your Christmas cake, with a little sandalwood thrown in for good measure. Despite the heady mix it's not a particularly strong 'fume on me, with only medium sillage. This is a winter or autumn scent, I can't imagine wearing it in our hot Australian summer. I blind bought this based on reviews, and I'm not sorry I did, but it did take me a few wears to fully appreciate it.

Silences

Theorema is sharp blast of spice and harshness in the beginning. My first impression was that I just spent money on expensive incense. You almost wonder why everyone is so in love with it. All I can say is to wait for the drydown because it is well worth it. It evolves into one of the best oriental fragrances your nose will ever smell. The initial spicy edges smooth out and reveal complex and brilliant blend of spicy sexiness. This perfume changes many times and dare I say gets better as avery hour passes. It finishes with a spicy rose that is just perfect for the cooler months. It's comforting and cozy but still makes you feel beautiful and sexy. I can't help but feel sad that complex and perfectly blended fragrances like this one are tossed aside for fragrances that have 3 notes and last 10 seconds.

Miruna

One of the best perfumes in my opinion, nothing compares to it!!!
Too bad I can't find it anymore...

secamel

I like to wear this orange /woody scent when I'm the mood to defy the laws of physics or create a new mathematical model that proves that fragrances make me happy.

BillyJean

This is a whisper of a fragrance. I don't know why a Leggero version came out since this is already so light. Lovely but fleeting perfume. I have both versions. When I put on Theorema I feel like I am not wearing perfume at all. I wish it lasted on my skin and clothes.

aber19

This fragrance has a soft, cinnamon, bitter nutmeg orange smell. It does not seem to change too much on. I do not experience all the notes in the pyramid. My 100 ml EDP bottle was expensive. I think it is different style but a little lackluster. But I like the original Fendi is the best, for its sweetness, depth, richness and complexity. This perfume has a sweet and bitter feel. I smell burnt caramel. It is not too strong, and has a Xmas celebration theme. It is not the best fragrance I have considering the price. I prefer YSL vintage NU where the fragrance is a lot stronger, sweeter richer cinnamon, nutmeg, and spicy to this. It lacks the strength and multidimensional qualities. I would suggest that it you to spray and walk into it. Added to your clothes may increase longevity. Unfortunately, the silage is limited and it stays closely to the skin instead of radiating to receive lovely whiffs of the fragrance. I rate this fragrance 2.5/5. You need to try this perfume because of the various views. I have tried this perfume a number of times. I tried this in the 1990's the fragrance was quite rich, unfortunately, it has been weakened. I am not sure because of the maturity of ingredients or a reformulation. Due to the price of the perfume, you may need to consider better perfume options. I have tried small samples, because it is a rare perfume I decided to buy it as a perfume collector. Yet, I do not use it too much because it has a shoe polish smell to it.

Tigerlillian

Theorema is a beautifully composed fragrance and somewhat of an aloof Oriental.

Warm lemon and gentle cinammon enter the senses to start. Then slowly, an infusion of smooth spices saunter subtley onto the scene. Predominantly, cardamom and nutmeg are discernible with their earthy, nutty character in a soft and almost velvety accord. Amber radiates a diffusive glow throughout, like a filtered sunset.

A harmonious balance of flowers presents itself very gently without any one flower being louder than the other. Rather than olfactory floral notes being detectable, their round, lush character is presented at a perfect low pitch.

Sandalwood and benzoin are most noticeable in the drydown, completely soft and gently balsamic with just a freckle of pepper and a hint of dry aromatic rosewood.

Truly wearable and an easy-to-love Oriental fragrance. Versatile, balanced and quietly satisfying.

Planet_X

With Theorema Fendi Christine Nagel proofed her talent with mathematical accuracy – notes are blended in a way that only Archimedes could manage better. Or – he probably couldnt)
Oriental-spicy that dares to be flowery and so tenderly-sexy, the best nutmeg game with musty deep guaiac wood among osmanthus and rose hip, like sensual touch of lips after exotic dessert in Mexico , - such mood suits to everyone and to everything, pointless to go into details – those of you who knew/know that scent – know that its an equivalent of Fermat's Last Theorem in the world of perfumery

Tapinview

I totally agree with Luca Turin when he draws the parallel with the Armani Prive amber. This really is a magnificent amber oriental with a cold icey burn to its spicey heart . It is like an orange pomade in the depths of winter. A beautiful classic well deserving of its cult status.

Αλεξάνδρα

Friends of Fendi Theorema, there is no need to spend a fortune on ebay tracing a vintage bottle. The end of this tormenting quest might answer to the name: Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles! A bit more robust and piquant, but the latest somehow "weak" reformulation of Theorema needed such oomph. Try!

400blows

It's been many years since I got a whiff of this, but I still yearn after it. I'd pass the perfume counter and 'test' it, knowing I'd make up for that one day. I never imagined time would run out.

To me, this was a clove orange in a sauna. I just love all that wood. Complete heaven. I wish I'd bought a bottle. What if we start a petition and submit it to Fendi?

Nomen

It's the hot stuff for cool ladies. OR gentlemen. Trust me - this one can do both.
Theorema's contradiction is precisely what I love about it: it's extremely spicy, but absolutely elegant; the peppery note makes you so hot in an instance (I can hear my inner self breathing like a dog with its tongue out) like you just had a bite of Mexican dish, but it's suitable for cool and calm individuals only. It has that fiery, passionate vibe, but there is nothing savage nor wild about it.
Mature scent. Authority in a bottle.

blueshifted

love this fragrance - warm, enveloping, and perfect for the winter months. candied citrus peel and spiced christmas cake... with a good dose of white florals to keep it from being overly gourmand. the velvety, smooth texture of the sandalwood in the drydown is especially luscious. such a pity it's been discontinued.

LadyPilot

Theorema is something that you smell once and remember forever - I hope I will. At least I have for the last fifteen years;)

BillyJean

I will search for another sample of this because I am not getting what you all are.
It starts of with an orange burst but quickly fades away to...nothing. A quiet creamy skin scent that is hardly detectable. There must more to it than this and you guys are the proof. So fingers crossed it is just a faulty sample as i still have high hopes for Theorema.

woodlandwalk

There's loads of orange in this, and various orange-like fruits are listed on other sites.
I definitely get the orange, the over-ripe fruit and the spices (I notice clove, lovely in combination with orange) but then it fades into a generic amber with lingering fruit notes that I find a bit sickly, it reminds me of orange peel that's gone a bit rancid. Though there's a slight coffee note too I quite like. I do like the start of this perfume, but I'm on the search for a cheerful Christmas perfume and this doesn't quite hit the mark

Sorry Theorema lovers - I predict an absence of virtual balloons, oh well it's my birthday this week so I might get some real ones!

lil_odessa

Let me get this out of the way by stating the obvious: Theorema is dead sexy. But I'm not getting the sweet/creamy/caramel aspects that everyone else seems to get. I have a vintage edp, bought recently, and what I've been getting on skin is a delicious, incense-y spice bomb with just enough lemon in the opening to keep it tart and interesting. Nutmeg and mace, primarily, which to me always had a weird, sweaty feeling, a bit like dirty male hair. That's not to say I find this disgusting: on the contrary, it gives the whole composition a bit of skank, which is a necessary ingredient in any sexpot perfume. So yes, a bit of dessert, but decidedly NOT edible, like the best of the old Guerlains.

lassmichdich

for me this is booze heaven. i love booze heaven!
i don't necessarily mean to refer to the effect of alcohol- booze heaven is a glorious place found in a beautiful mind, moment. it smells of contradictions and intricate, even unsolvable ambiguities, disso(u)leted in the airy-light,ethereal realm of the inspired moment, mind.
i smell marzipan a lot, too, inside. i dislike marzipan generally, but here i can't, impossible. it just keeps my theorema experience engaging, like this subtle prickle of an invisible tiniest sting, not even hurtful anymore.
the heavy, weightless booze heaven!

alfarom

This fragrance, together with a bunch of others such as Nu EDP, Envy, Rush, Envy For Men, several Donna Karan*s* (to name only a few among the most *recent* ones), are the reason why around *twothousandandsomething* I've lost most of the interest in designers compositions. If I think about what designers have meant to fragrance in the past, I struggle to understand all these recent trends in mass market perfumery.

Theorema is not simply gorgeous, it would actually put on shame 90% of today's niche offerings. Responsible of fragrances such as Eau De Cartier, Narcisso Rodriguez For Her, Archives 69, a bunch of Jo Malones, Guerlains and Muglers, this is Christine Nagel in full effect. A thick spicy-oriental loaded with cardamom, pepper and nutmeg built around a resiny-ambery base and loads of smooth / warm woods. Fantastic juxtaposition provided by the citrusy opening which is probably one of the most long lasting lemon notes ever. Extremely complex, incredibly radiant and unbelievably long lasting. Mandatory.

Rating: 9/10

Gabriellitjie

Among all my other beloved orientals - the best. Just wonderful - dark-red velvet and and silk and .... oh, just luxury. Spicy, far less in-your-face than Cinnabar or Opium. I'd buy bottles if I could. Alas, it is not to be. A masterpiece, I'm nuts about it!

alchemist1976stephanie

It was love at first sniff for this one! I saved up to get it and wore it everyday for months! It was as others have said- sweet, rich, spicy but not overbearing or cloying. You could wear it day or night and it made you feel sexy and a little mysterious. I would re purchase it in a heartbeat if it came back!

freddinos

Once more, I find myself wondering why a perfume house decides to discontinue a great scent.I received a miniature of Theorema, and already have started my search for a full bottle (wallet cries)
It is a citrusy yet spicy scent. It opens with refrshing lemon notes blended with lots of nutmeg and other warm spices. The nutmeg is dominating the composition from top to bottom in my opinion. I would have loved a bit more cinnamon, I must admit that. Theorema is very warm and easy to wear, without the Opium-Cinnabar style spicy character that scares people away. This is a 'hug me' oriental, not a 'beware' one!Having dabbed on from my 5ml vial, I found its longevity medium to low, despite the fact that I used a good 2mls over my neck/wrists. I would be very interested to know how it compares to the d'ete edition, as that one can still be found for a reasonable price. Very beautiful!

Matt Oldham

Theorema is one of the all-time greats. The beginning blows you away. The citrus and orange blossom and ylang along with the spice and resins and wood...powerful and really beautiful. A perfume for people who really love perfume.

xabaras

It is very pleasant and original. Cinnamon is a note which remains constant and it is mixed with spices and some lovely citrus note which makes it fresh despite the intensity of the cinnamon. It is mouthwatering and not too heavy. It might be mistaken for an aromatic fragrance. It is very unusual. It is definitely worth a try. You might be surprised. Shame it's been discontinued. I had to fight to get a miniature on ebay...

aveilhe

Theorema could be classified as a "borderline" gourmand (officially, it's a spicy-oriental), but it's nothing to be afraid of if you're typically a bit stand-offish with gourmands.

To my nose, there is a bit of skank here (meant in the best of ways, of course) that tempers the gourmand elements. (Am I the only one who smells this? I haven't seen any mention of it in other reviews). I pick up heavily indolic orange blossom and jasmine, the slightly dirty scent of cumin, and a very earthy patchouli. I find these notes sexy and alluring in combination with the honeyed amber and benzoin base notes.

The orange and lemon, along with cinnamon and other spices, bring it very close (but not quite) to gourmand territory. The citrus fades quickly with the dissipation of the top notes but is almost mouth-watering when present.

Theorema is a deliciously warm, elegant, and mature fragrance. It calls to mind the enveloping luxury of a fur coat or a sumptuous cashmere sweater. With relatively low sillage and longevity compared to other spicy-oriental scents, Theorema is appropriate for day or night. Perfect for winter, when the urge to bundle yourself in warmth and luxury beckons...

drummagick

I received a mini today. I was expecting orange spice, I had the idea of Constant Comment tea maybe. What I got instead was a sweet floral with a slightly woody drydown. No spice at all on my skin, perhaps a tiny bit of cardamom. There was something in the middle I hadn't smelled before, it was quite interesting, might have been the osmanthus, a little fruity. This isn't something I'll be wanting a full bottle of, but I have to tell you, it's absolutely AMAZING layered with Mitsouko, which is why I wanted it in the first place. :)

Jilly B

Today I am baking and wrapping presents for Christmas, and this is the perfect scent for today. I bought this blind a few months ago and was immediately reminded of Christmas when I sprayed it, the nutmeg is lovely. Must be careful not to use it all up over the festive period.

GabriellaToth

One of my favourites, it's such a lovely spicy, warm and sexy scent. Very difficult to find it in Europe, but any time I put it on I feel in heaven! Very comforting , luxurious smell which draws many compliments.

aber19

I was very disappointed with this one. Firstly, it smelt like burnt vanilla and cinnamon with a faint orange smell. It is very boring and weak. The perfume character has been taken out, with a lot less ingredients. This original masterpiece has gone.

I bought a small sample and big bottle, because it used to be beautiful in the 1990's; but, it has changed. I think it has been reformulated. I received the perfumes with the same packaging as the 1990's but the beautiful fragrance and long lasting strength and cinnamon, floral and gardenia fragrance has disappeared. So be aware if you buy this on ebay. I think that because it is a discontinued fragrance, people may want the same vintage perfume when it is not. It was very expensive, so beware. You really need to try this before buying it on ebay.

seneca

Sex in a bottle :)) Warm, spicy velvet. I am almost out again, as I shared my last large EDP bottle with my sister. I am going to cry when i run out. Dry down is soft, spicy, silky like.

Almost (not quite) but almost impossible to find. I can't stand the bottle though :)) It's an odd bottle. I never got this in EDT form, only EDP - it's dark and thick and just a wonderful magical concoction.

sensichéri

I want this one but i'm worry about the spiciness, did really smell like Si Lolita?

J aimerais bien l ajouter a ma collection mais je suis effrayée qu il soit aussi épicé que le Si Lolita.

busik

And what a wonderful line of bath! just turn into a fairy with wings!

Agna

Arabian nights (fairy tale)!

I am madly in love with this one. Delicious oriental aroma, light and very intimate.
Absolutely gorgeous scent!!!!!

I love it!

sharon.ramsey.900

wonderful scent, reminds me of childhood sherbet with an incense twist.would recommend!

polka

Oh my goodness! If I die and go to fragrance heaven, I expect it to smell like Theorema. Honestly, it's hard to find words to describe this majestic juice.

A perfect blend of oriental spices on a comforting bed of the finest cream and dry, velvety vanilla. Spicy without being harsh and sweet without being cloying. Warm, rich, but not overpowering.

A masterpiece. How come they discontinue perfume like that?!

PLUMPIE

Was really dissapointed with this scent it was a very linear overburnt vanilla and over-ripe fruits on my skin I hate it, really awful on my chemistry. A terrible waste of money in a search to find something similar to Indecence which others have compared this to. Nothing special at all.

Kimmer112065

I was just lucky enough to buy this from a lady who purchased it a year ago and didn't use. I got an 85% full bottle for $ 10.00!!! What a treat this perfume is. Smoky, deep and sensual..... ahhh I adore it!

krmarich

Theorema has been calling to me for years and I finally found an affordable mini to sample. Wow! It restored the oriental in 1998. Then suddenly it vanished without warning.

Fendi handled spices like no other house. This was nothing short of the sweetest, warmest spice cake one could hope for. There was also this mysterious smokiness about it that whispers rich sultry sexy times. The woods are ignited by the spice. It totallty redefinined the oriental, taking it even beyond YSL Opium. A brilliant natural evolution in perfumery. This was perfect to wear to the opera on cool Italian nights.

I will have to say it was so good, the entire industry came to a halt. Sadly, it never restarted after 1998...

vulpinitribe

I remember my mother wearing this as child,
still I recall the strong, warm, spicy scent.
I found it intriguing then and I still do today,
the warm and well balanced specy sweetness.

I'll get her a big sample for her birthday..
(You can still get a hold of it on several online stores!)

Eridanshay1

Stunning. Warm, glowing, spicy and full bodied. If you enjoy this, may I suggest YSL Cinema? They are similar in composition to my nose. Cheers!

AveParfum

here are the notes as listed on original packaging. Some I have never heard of...very interesting.

TOP: Thai Shamouti; Eglantine; California Tangelos

MID: Jasmine Petals; Afghan Spices; Cinnamon; Pink Pepper; Osmanthus

BASE: Spicy Dust/Musk; Heart of Macassar; Sweet Cream/Amber; Gaiac Wood/Mysore Sandalwood

Fifteen years ago, I was a teenage girl walking through the mall when a pushy saleswoman shoved a perfume into my face and said, "Try FENDI!" a name I'd never heard before. I rolled my eyes and gave it a quick spritz as I ran off. Several minutes later, I was mesmerized by the most decadent scent. It was sweet, rich, thick like syrup, and a bit spicy, like nothing I'd ever smelled in my life. I thought, This is the scent of a real woman! I desperately wanted to go back, but I knew I was just a very young girl and could not afford such a luxurious perfume, but I never, ever forgot the name FENDI.

All these years later, the name FENDI still haunts my mind. Thanks to eBay, I found a full, unused bottle of Theorema for a very reasonable price. No miniature was going to do, not for the perfume I'd waited half my life to own! When the bottle arrived, I was like a kid in a candy store, feverishly ripping the tape off of the cardboard box, chipping my manicure...hoping I bought the correct fragrance because the saleswoman never mentioned the actual name of the perfume.

The initial spritz was full of citrus. I did not remember smelling citrus, but I gave it a few minutes to settle. And there it was--the glorious, warm, rich, sweet smell that began my love of thick, oozing orientals. It seemed like all my adult life I'd been trying to find a perfume that could match up to the FENDI of my youth. And now it's mine, all mine! I am all grown up, a woman worthy of wearing this exquisite creation.

If you could imagine a family's Christmas gathering, full of love, a delicious feast, laughter and merriment, and the glow of a quietly crackling fireplace, you can glimpse FENDI. Smoked woods and resins create a base upon which are stacked deliciously soft spices, sweet amber, and a lemon note that smells more like a sweetened black tea with lemon.

I love Palo Santo and burn it frequently. Just recently I was wishing I could find a Palo Santo based fragrance. When I get to the base notes of Theorema, I smell that precious wood very clearly. I was amazed to find out that gaiac wood is in the base, which is another name for Palo Santo.

They just don't make perfumes like this anymore. What a pity. Nothing can replace Theorema.

"I am not telling anyone where this is until I have made sure I've got all of the good stuff."

Priceless!

judyk

{sighhhhh} I have a new love! So rich and sweet - and the spices, oh, the spices! I've never smelt another perfume like this. The only floral I get is a very soft orange blossom, with just a hint of citrus every now and then.

Is it some perversity of perfumers' nature that they always discontinue their best creations?

LaUna

Creamy vanilla/benzoin, candy-like caramel, with apple pie/cinnamon and spices; warm, yummy can't get enough of type a scent.
At first looking at the ingredients I was spooked thinking it was going to smell like Christmas or Thanksgiving candles, but not at all. This would be great to wear for fall/winter holidays or when craving sweets, but it smells gourmandy delicious and at the same time it is a quality perfume, not a holiday candle.
One of the best sweet gourmand scents I came across. Similar in creamy/sweet vanilla/caramel combo to Candy by Prada, but this is far off better with other ingredients not found in Candy.
Superb silage. Worth every penny.

akheperure

So nice! Shame on Fendi for discontinuing it. I can only get hold of over-priced miniature 5ml bottles :((((((((((
Warm, spicy, cozy... a real jewel. I put a drop on my wrists every other day to enjoy it's comfy richness.

eruetim

The most exotic and powerful perfume for women.

padraiginrua

Wow! Its so hard to find fragrances that behave well at dinner parties. This would be a fine guest. In my haste to try my sample I forgot that I had been cooking and my hands smelled of sesame oil--it blended so nicely with the spices!

I've since washed my hands and I do love this scent. I have such a hard time finding spicy or Oriental scents as I hate vanilla, so this is a real triumph. It is smooth, well-made, interesting without seeming too heavy or masculine. It also smells amazingly modern. This puts Jo Malone's spare Nutmeg and Ginger to shame. Mmmmmm

candymarie

I am madly in love with this one. It's sunshine-in-a-bottle.

And not the obvious type of sunshine, but rather the kind that comes from within you, like the way you feel sitting around a table with good friends, enjoying good conversation, food and wine, and your soul is warmed in the process.

Yes, there IS pronounced citrus here, but it serves more as a contrast, something to make the oriental spices pop like blue eyes on a brunette and keep the floral notes from becoming too serious. It's depth and complexity are very satisfying. The sillage and longevity are excellent.

Sarah Bas Eleazar

Delicious oriental aroma, dense, woody sensual and powerful. It reminds me of Organza indecence.

Scarlette

I adore this one! Was not made in 1998, as I was wearing it at least 7 years prior to this! Rich and spicy gingerbready without being too gourmand. Classy. Lasts very long. I don't get any pepper.

Action

For you longing to have this one, but regret not being available, go for Si Lolita! Christine Nagel used the formula obviously!!

dstormys

On application I get an overwhelming impression of warm eggnog with freshly grated nutmeg. It wears on me as a creamy, rich amber. Definitely has a gourmand feel for me, and I'm in love with it.

scentsuelle

All I can say is - I miss this fragrance, my perfume hunt is pretty much restricted to, well, finding my new Theorema. Classic case of really bad ad campaign not selling this scent as well as it had deserved. Maybe, one day, there'll be another Theorema that makes both men and women literally stop and go looking for the smell when you wear it on public transport. I never wear so much for it to be obvious but when people stood close, they would regularly ask me what it was.

vanillablossom

reminds me so much of a dark, current filled fruitcake, made with orange juice as well. spicy, warm, citrus and full woody sweetness. very unusual scent - definitely reminds me of Italy

Veda_honey

I can't even begin to work through Theorema's notes as my nose isn't refined enough to define such a complex perfume - for my tastes, it's not too sweet, just the right amount of spicy and a real lady. I think everything that can be said about the notes have been said by those more eloquent than I. I just wanted to say, it is gorgeous. Gor-ge-ous. There, that's it, my tuppence on the subject!

primogenius

A real perfume masterpiece!Well developed composition!Made a stock buying several 50 ml bottles.

ffiuqs

I got my first bottle when I won a competition at a department store for a free perfume - most perfumes give me a headache and so I was a bit cautious when looking for one - and one that I tried was Theorema and right from the first sniff there was something about it - I wasn't sure but I tried it and liked it and then tried it again and I was hooked - it is me - I love it. And now it is discontinued - how could they do that - what were they thinking?

Estee Lauder's Sensuous is very close in a lot of its notes - you should check it out - but be warned - to me it is less deep, less dark, less warm - but still worth a smell (the 'nude' and the other version of Sensuous don't smell at all like 'Sensous' so make sure you try the right one.

id

I'd call it fruity spicy because of the harsh lemon with cinnamon and spices at the opening. After that siam benzoin comes out and then the note of jasmine and rosewood comes into play. I usually like cinnamon very much but this acid beginning stops me from chasing this discontinued fragrance. But the base notes are blended well - I get patchouli and sandalwood surrounded by spices. Nice.

SheShe

My personal disaster. The cinnamon here is like acid, it gets on my nerves (and I usually like cinnamon!). The scent seems hot, suitable for cold days. I just can't stand it... I suppose it can be likeable, but not for me...

Scarlette

Just gorgeous! Starts out quite lemony, then morphs into a cinnaminny gingerbready spiced cola! EDP lasts very well. It gave me very big shivers the first time I smelled it, and it still can. Very warm.

OMG! I feel like I just won the perfume lottery!! After work today I stopped by a local discount perfume shop and scored the Holy Grail of Fendi Theorema: The Christmas Gift Set in Original Box. 50ml EDP, 5ml Parfum Extract, Body Lotion, Shower Gel & Candle!!! I've been at that shop at least a million times in the last few years and either I never noticed it (highly unlikely) or it appeared magically out of thin air today. I almost fainted on the spot. What's even better is the teeny bopper sales assistant had no clue of its value and let me bargain her down to $75 CAD + no tax for the complete set. I feel like I've died and gone to olfactory heaven. I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight, enveloped in sweet cinnamony creamy deliciousness.

Cmanier

ok Why does this smell like L de Lolita. Almost identical... wonderful scent. rich woodsy chocolate cinnamon. Lolita is a bit sweeter. They both smell awesome..Loving it!!!!

KasKas

Love this perfume! I get the feeling of being in a lodge, in front of a fireplace drinking hot chocolate while watching the snow falling outside.

I originally found Theorema after searching for a similar scent to the discontinued Alchimie by Rochas. It is a shame that this delicacy is discontinued as well.

Why brands discontinue such great fragrances is beyond me.

emi

I own and use this one. It is very cozy, pleasant fragrance. I get the vanilla but not cloying - sweet but transparent. I guess the note of sweet cream is responsible for that impression. I also get orange at the beginning and then spices, mostly cinnamon. Orange and spices disappears after some time and the vanilla remains with some woody undertones. I like that smell and it is a shame that Fendi decided to discontinue it. It resembles Belle de Minuit by Nina Ricci which ofcourse is not very useful information because BdM is harder to find than Theorema. The lasting power is not very impressive and I wish it had better silage.

karol2000

I have a Theorema now I need yacht, birkin bag and huge sunhat

kolciag

I recently got to know this perfume and i loved it from the first sniff :] For me it's great spicy perfume... but with a bit of Cola :) I feel as if someone put gingerbread into glass of Cola and mix it together. It's sparkling, sweet, oriental... really amazing scent :)

PerfumePatty

Theorema is strong, rich gourmand scent when you first spray it, but for a Fendi it doesn't last as long as I anticipated it would (lasted about 2 -3 hours on my skin). It's an opulent oriental in the same family as Opium, Cinnabar and Organza, with a warm, spicy nutmeg and cinammon aroma with woody undertones. I also smell dark bittersweet chocolate. If you want a cheap version of Theorema, try Avon's Extraordinary (it smells very similar!).

mariaraluca

why did they discontinue?!!!!!

fanny

Luxurious, subtle and softly spiced.

This extremely rich perfume with a rather modest sillage is a bit like Tantalus' torment. Whenever I need it, I hunger to smell more and more and more, ..and more, so I spray and spray and spray, but Theorema keeps itself in a deeply buried background. Perhaps it is my skin that causes this.

Still, Theorema is listed in my top/3 of perfumes.
I can't imagine any scent that is so rich in subdued tones, feminin and soft and rich, rich, rich. So, I love it (obviously) but it haunts me at the same time.
Today I ordered another (100 ml) bottle as I actually have oozes left. (There are still 5 tester bottles for sale on fragrancex.com.)

EDIT 19/05/11:
Received a fresh 100 ml tester today... The freshness is helping me to understand it better and no longer will I have to suffer from any torment as mentioned in my previous comment!!!

I got a decanted sample of this from a forum member, so I don’t know the concentration. I suspect it’s an EdT because it seems extremely weak. It starts out light green and slightly citrusy, then sweetens to more of a weak, bland orange caramel scent. I don’t get any of the spices or patchouli that others do. After less than an hour it dries down to a musky base that smells like unwashed hair or bed sheets that badly need laundering. Surely Fendi would do better than this.

I knew I had an EdP mini somewhere, so dug it out to compare. With the EdP I do get some spices, not strong, but definitely there. They’re delicate gingerbread spices mixed into the orange caramel. And yes - there’s just the slightest hint of patchouli, not strong, but just barely noticeable. During the drydown it becomes a unique, translucent, almost gourmand scent, always very subtle, but with a definite presence. I can see why people consider this a “comfort scent”. The sillage is modest, but the scent lasts for 6-8 hours.

I hardly ever say this, but I think Theorema is a fragrance that would be nice to spray liberally. Since it’s discontinued, I’m glad I have a generous amount. If you’re looking to stock up, I suggest that you look for the EdP, not the EdT.

cherryfairy

Very elegant, sweet creamy perfume. Perfectly balanced
in every way,not girly but womanly.Almost gourmand in a way, very ,very addictive.Lasts long.Reminds me of old Hollywood, all sensuous cleavage and luminous skin!

Mariame

Sophisticated,Elegant Glamorous Perfume.
I adore the sweet spices that attracts the opposite sex in every
little drop of this scent...Amazing...

Theorema surprised me immediately! I had been putting off reviewing it because at first whiff all i was subjected to was a near headache inducing amount of florals, shouted at me. After a light application i smelled myself, and barely smelled anything. So, i re-dosed. Heavily. At this point, about 5 minuites in, theorema is a classic beauty! Nutmeg, vanilla, spices. Light fruit and whispered florals save the composition from becoming cloying. It reminds me of l de lolita lempicka a bit. The dry down is gorgeous, and silky. Woodsy, spicy vanilla, almost late-stage obsession-ish at this point. But quieter, more tasteful. Im sorry i ignored theorema, lets just leave it at that.

Although, better than i had hoped, the drydown rather bores me. I cant say why, i just dont find myself wanting to reapply. Maybe its just not for me

One of the best scents for cocoa lovers. It smelt on me like a warm and spicy cocoa oil, and the wafts of cocoa brough the smile on my face - the smell is so comforting, so homey.

And as you can see Theorema is launched in the same year as Salvatore Ferragamo pour femme, with a lot of notes in common. I wouldn't be suprised if they were both based on the same 'brief' and Nagel and Cavallier were competing to score the same client. Nagel ending up giving her creation to Fendi and Cavallier selling his creation to Ferregamo.

Cereza

This is extremely lovely smell. I was cautious because I thought it might be a little bit too spicy, but I was wrong. It opens very warm, rich, creamy and sweet. There is the spicy aspect, but it's very delicate, just the right amount to make it even more warmer.
At the opening I feel lovely jasmine sweetness with tiny bit of lemon freshness, but mostly the sweetnes from jasmin + the little doze of spices that make jasmin appear not so heady (as it sometimes does).
When it goes to it's heart phase it becomes slightly bit sweeter, must be from rose + cinnamon appears and as many know I have a thing for cinnamon in perfumes (if it's not too much and all over the fume), so I enjoy this even more. I don't feel any patchouli.

It's excellent oriental.

I really can't understad why something like this is being put of the market? Wtf? Really? I think with this it's not even love-hate relationship, I think it might please almost everyone and this is a must for every oriental lover. Fendi should be suied for this one.

Miss Guerlain

First of all??? I just can NOT understand why FENDI notoriously discontinues their grand masterpieces of perfume artwork ?????????? Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

This is the most beautiful perfect one in FENDI's line ever!! Even the paper-packing is extraordinary, black and gold, signed with autographs in gold inside. All notes are composed to a harminous perfection. The cinnamon (which I love the most), afghan spices and sweet cream amber captures my heart in a golden cage (Throw away the key please!!!) .

Anorton1965

I've worn Theorema EDP for two days now, and it's a warm comforting scent. The mornings are a little chilly and crisp and this is a good scent for cooler to colder weather.

I smell the oranges mixed with cinnamon and cardamom.

First spray it's a little tangy and tart, fitting for a crisp fall day.

It drys down nicely into a slightly sweet spicey scent.

Sillage is probaby moderate. It is a fairly strong scent, so a light hand is preferable.

Lasting power.... I sprayed it at 7:30 this morning, it's going on 10 am, and I can still smell wafts of it when I move my arms about.

Nice fall and winter scent.

adele l

I got a decant of this and it sure is interesting- but it smells like shaving cream on my skin! Definitely fresh and bracing but not agreeing with my chemistry
edit: the far dry down is a grand 80's style oriental gourmand yet somehow gentle..similar to Obsession with the shaving cream accord in the background now. Not unpleasant!

janudy

This is a really warm, spicy scent that is perfect for the winter when you need something to warm you up! It opens up with something similar to coca cola! I smell orange blossoms that have been crystallized and dipped in spiced honey. It's so edible, but you don't get tired of wearing it like other foody smells.

J'taime Guerlain

Back in 2001, my H & I honeymooned in a few European city locations and one of them was Venice. I was wearing Allure but everywhere I went the air was infused with a perfume which led me to believe that all the Venetian women were wearing the same scent, it was gorgeous and I was intrigued to find out what it was.

We happened across a perfume shop and I went in and asked what it was I kept smelling and it turned out to be Theorema, the store consultant gave me a sample and it comes out during winter.

I love the scent, but I have to take my time in getting over the initial waft of pencil shavings. Does anyone else get that?
I love the spicy flavours and sweet cream dry-down and it's a stayer in terms of longevity.

I must see if I can find a miniature somewhere as I can't fully enjoy Theorema knowing my sample is nearly gone.

aromaminx

i'm soo disappointed this id discontinued...a huge mistake by fendi,,bet they are regretting it now!!!
the gorgeous 'craminess' of this fragrance delightfully envelopes me when i wear it.it is not offensive,as some of my other choices are/have been.
the sillage is wonderfuland the new bottle i just recieved from my husband will be well treasured as i dont think i'll ever have another bottle in my hand's grasp.

jazzgoddess

Still a fragrance I return to...definitely unique, very complex - sumptuous and spicy. I too am sorry it is discontinued in North America - is it still available in Europe?

magda14012

I have discovered Theorema only recently. It is a rich scent, but not overwhelming. Reminds me of Christmas cake and all the lovely cinnamon/cardamon cookies we bake at the time. Still one does not smell of food;) It is a warm feminine perfume. Such a shame it is discontinued

aromaminx

great sillage, but not overpowering.why oh why do they discontinue all the perfumes i fall in love with?

kastehelmi

Another "if you hate patchouli, you won't like this" fragrance. Complex and rich, yes, spicy yes, Oriental with an almost gourmand mist around it-and dry, dry, strong and strong. I imagine this could suit a variety of people, so if you think you could pull this off, or have any interest, go ahead--try it.

sherapop

Ernest Hemingway once wrote that "One cat leads to another," and the same holds true for perfumes. Maybe because perfumes, like cats, are seductive, subtle, sensuous, and associative...

While thinking about VOILE D'ETE as I was wearing TOCADE, I suddenly recalled another creation in the same vein: Fendi's THEOREMA. All three are warm, inviting scents, but each has its distinctive charm.

THEOREMA opens energetically as a spicy woody citrus before becoming progressively more smooth and amber as the day wears on. The florals serve to embellish the spices and woods, not the other way around, with carnation and ylang ylang as the most dominant to my nose.

This fragrance shimmers like the sun and attracts in a subtle, unobtrusive way, ending finally, with the setting of the sun, as a skin scent of sorts: the citrus and stronger floral notes have all faded away.

soniamcalear

Smells just like lemon cookies to me. I love it but does not last long at all!

Action

For all you theorema lovers out there: you should really really really try the classic Modigliani. Sooo sophisticated, resembling Theorema a lot and VERY affordable!!
Good luck!

NebraskaLovesScent

I have heard about this scent for years and finally purchased a small sample to give it a try.

Wow!

I'm impressed by Theorema's ability to be so rich and warm and spicy, without crossing the line to foody or "gourmand." I find it hard to accurately describe the scent without relying on food analogies, but if you dislike gourmands, you need not fear the foody potential of this fragrance.

The notes are like a perfume-y version of my mother's Christmas gingerbread cake, topped with fresh orange slices and a dollop of cream. Place emphasis on the "perfume-y" in that sentence, please. Theorema is modern but has all the elements of a classic spicy oriental fragrance. You won't smell like a bakery while wearing this scent. It is not overly sweet, and the woody notes emerge as the fragrance dries down. I look forward to wearing this fragrance in the winter.

gesch

I really hope some design house will buy this scent and reintroduce it to the market.
I just own a miniature of this, and therefore use it spaaaaringly, since I really have to enjoy the occasion. I'm already bemourning my almost gone perfume:
please bring theorema back!!!

CaraMia

Now that Fendi is really and truly gone it seems strange to be reviewing their scents, but as a devotee of all that is wonderful and nearly impossible to find, review I must.

Theorema is one of the finest spicy scents I own because it is not a foody scent at all. The spices are elegant not gourmand and blend seamlessly with the rose, carnation, patchouli and woods. NO one spice dominates and you have to work to tease out individual spicy notes which make Theorema a well -blended fragrance indeed. The abscence of edibility is a stunning feature accomplished by not mucking up the composition with vanilla or sugar. I'm not sure where the "creaminess" some people get is coming from and I don't smell it at all.

Warm, elegant and understated.

Robert White

I had forgotten about Theorema but the reviews hit me like a hammer. I used to have a friend named Amie...she had a lot of problems and was very beautiful. She used to sleep over with my girlfriend and me when she had had a fight with her scummy boyfriend, and once she had calmed down, she'd have a drink with us, spray on some Theorema, and fall asleep snuggled up betewwn the two of us. She said she felt safer that way. A little later, she decided to go to work as a high priced call girl...her low self esteem wouldn't let her see any other possibilities. She stayed with us until she could get her own apartment, curled up between us, sucking her thumb, smelling like Theorema. A month later, she went out to visit a dodgy acquaintance, and we got a phone call two hours later: she had taken some drugs and fallen down a flight of stairs, breaking her neck and killing her instantly. We kept that bottle of Theorema a long time, but didn't have the heart to wear it. I wonder what happened to it? Anyway, here's to you, Amie, hope your'e happy wherever you are...I think I might buy some of this...I just hope that it's the same formulation...

viewdemonde

I was crazy for Theorema when it was first released, but could not afford it! I also wrote to Fendi to find out its composition and they kindly responded. It contains "sweet cream" (you're right, Kazzibee!) which probably makes it one of the earliest gourmand scents.
I finally bought a bottle and used it quickly and now I can't find it. Must be discontinued.🤔

Lunohodik

I got it as a gift quite a while ago...
I could'nt understand its composition for some time. However I still kept it instead of handing it down to friends, as I do pretty often with perfumes I don't particularly like.
Now I see, that the whole composition is pretty nice, but for my nose patchouli and nutmeg are cpmponents I wish were not present in this frag...
I'll keep it, but wouldn't wear it though:)

Miss_Nightingale

Oh, Theorema; where have you been all my life?

Thanks to fellow Fragrantica member, Darlingbuds, I have a sample of this precious, spicy elixir. It has been waiting for me to try it, obviously, because it's SO me. Rich but not sickening wafts of orange chocolate are emanating from my cleavage, delicate trails of cinnamon with whisps of pink pepper. Utterly scrumptious, this is an all-day wrist-sniffer and is going straight to the top of my I Want list!

This is a beautifully warm oriental that manages to be deeply sensual yet perfectly sophisticated. Alluringly well-balanced - this one wont knock you over the head and drag you to its lair. It doesn't have to, it's far too clever for that. Instead, this is like smelling the faint trail of freshly baked orange & cinnamon bread, never resting until you have followed the scent trail and tracked down your delicious prey.

The drydown of creamy benzoin & woods is to die for. An amazing perfume I am sure to have a long love-affair with!

Kultakutri

The ingredients on the box say something a bit different from what's listed in here. I have no idea what Thai Shamouti, Eglantine or California tangelos may mean, maybe some citruses? and the pepper in question is listed among the middle notes and it's pink pepper.
Anyhow, it's a bit like Mitsouko, I'd say, but less kitschy to me.

Krista14

I got it as a gift but it was´nt for me at all. Too much spices and too strong and powerful. However, may be good in winter for brunettes.

VioletLily

I could never really place what Theorema smelt like until I read some reviews on it...all I could think was erm, soft, warm oriental?...but orange, chocolate, cinnamon...(and more)?! Whoa!

I first smelt it in 2000 when I was in Italy and regretted not buying it, so when I got to go again in 2002, I snapped up a bottle but was disappointed because it lasted about 5 minutes on my skin and smelt somehow sharper. Dang! An old bottle?! Obviously, I couldn't take it back!

A year later, I spotted a gift box in the chemist while out shopping...I couldn't help but buy it! Body Lotion, Bath & Shower Gel and a 30ml of the perfume!

I compared it to the one I got in Florence, and they were both totally different colours - the new one being much darker! So I checked the bottom of the bottle and lo and behold, the one I got in Italy was Eau de Toilette and the new one today is Eau de Parfum! The EDT is still nice, but somewhat sharper, whereas the EDP is creamier...mmm! I much prefer the EDP...the oranges DO come out at first spray, though it's not like zesty organges and then gradually, slight chocolate, cinnamon and cream...though not foody if that makes sense.

What a delicious scent!!

veruska

I first got that as a present in my first year at university.I followed on bying till it was discontinued. Why they have to end with this beautiful creature. Is it normal thst thi wasn't a hit. All my friends loved it, and boyfriends swoon for it. i just can't get it.I love the strong dry peppery stat and the seamless velvety floral part fresh green rose with a sweet dried fruitiness. The drydown is not as spectacular but you can't miss the softness sweet chocolatey benzoin sensation. Adorable

woogyjones50

I bought this one without testing it as well and it was a wise choice. One I will never want to be without..I love the topnotes: Citrus yet not too bright. A tea-like note is very prominent for me when I first spray it on my skin. The drydown for me is all amber. I wore this perfume to bed the other night and woke up several times just to smell it. I can't say enough about how great this perfume is BUT the staying power is not as good as I would have hoped (at least on my skin). But for the time that it sticks around, it is amazing.

LuckysGirl

I bought this without first testing it. I just knew I would like it and I was right. It is one of my favorites. Spicy and sweet without being overbearing. Suitable for day wear as well, as opposed to so many other spicy orientals. Mmm, mmm, good.

kazzibee

The only way I can explain Theorema EDP is "the best perfume I ever had". It is simultaneously sweet (but not cloying), rich, warm and spicy. YUM! Lasts and lasts and lasts. I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't like it.
