Sauvage Dior for men
Dior Mens Sauvage Parfum Parfum Spra... (99.99 USD)
Perfume rating 3.89 out of 5 with 22,957 votes
Sauvage by Dior is a Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. Sauvage was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is François Demachy. Top notes are Calabrian bergamot and Pepper; middle notes are Sichuan Pepper, Lavender, Pink Pepper, Vetiver, Patchouli, Geranium and elemi; base notes are Ambroxan, Cedar and Labdanum.
Dior launches its new fragrance Sauvage, with the name originating from the fragrance Eau Sauvage from 1966, although the two don’t belong to the same collection. Sauvage is inspired by wild, open spaces; blue sky that covers rocky landscapes, hot under the desert sun.
Dior in-house perfumer, François Demachy, signed this creation. The fragrance is announced as radically fresh, raw and noble at the same time. The composition is reportedly prevalent with carefully selected natural ingredients. Fresh top notes of Calabria bergamot encounter ambroxan, obtained from precious ambergris, and its woody trail.
Dior Sauvage comes out in September 2015, advertised by actor Johnny Depp. It is available as 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

This is the most slutted out fragrance for a reason. If you still don't own a bottle of sauvage, what are you doing? it's so good and versatile. yeah you won't smell unique but you'll smell good

I dont reccomend this.

Arguably the best designer of all time. It's masculine and fresh. That's all you need. EDT is the way to go.

Smells meh but I think it's funny that most of solobinoy2k's reviews are hating on sauvage. What a guy 😂

Dior Sauvage, once a beloved staple in the world of men's fragrances, now feels dated and uninspiring. Over time, it has undergone reformulations that have significantly impacted its longevity and projection. What was once a robust and long-lasting scent now fades much quicker, losing its initial allure.
Wearing Dior Sauvage today does little to set you apart; its ubiquity makes it a common choice, leading to a lack of uniqueness. When seeking opinions, the response is often lukewarm—typically a polite, "Yes, it's nice," rather than genuine enthusiasm. This cologne has become mundane, blending into the sea of generic scents.
In a market where individuality and distinctiveness are highly valued, Dior Sauvage falls short. It no longer captivates or stands out, rendering it a rather boring choice for modern fragrance enthusiasts.

Smells like a makeup remover/nail paint remover lmao

"Suffering from success" if it were a fragrance. Finally smelled it a while back, it's not even that bad, people are exaggerating how it "assaults" or "attacks" their noses. It's sharp, sure, but stop overreacting. It's fresh, peppery, and citrusy, which makes it versatile for mostly any setting. Not to mention this is probably the longest-lasting blue fragrance of all time. I sprayed it on my wrist and I could still smell it clearly 8 hours later. Dior has the best atomizers in the fragrance world as well, so spraying this is a very smooth process. It suffers because the fboy stereotype has brought down its reputation. And yes, most cologne users will probably own this, but it's because it's one of the most mass-appealing fragrances of all time. Dior is rolling in the dough because of this fragrance. Overall, I won't buy because I prefer the elixir concentration of Sauvage, but it's a great beginner fragrance.

Finally got my nose on this. It's nice. It's not interesting. It's not unique. It's nice. A nondescript lemon fresh soap/shower gel scent that reminds me of a hundred different things and none of them all at once. At least it keeps young men smelling clean and presentable. Won't need to buy a bottle as I find BdC EDP and Explorer fill that gap nicely already in a more interesting way. But I'm glad I got to experience it so I know what everyone is talking about. Not nearly as bad as some people say, and not nearly as good either. It's nice.

My first fragrance ever, now I have a lot more but this still remains one of my favorites. Ambroxan forward with a beautiful bergamot and we’ll done pepper notes. Still had the shower gel smell but it’s more citrus and pepper to me than something like BDC. I love this stuff and the performance is insane on it. This got me so many compliments when I wore it as my signature scent for a few months.

I avoided this Sauvage for so long that I tested the EDT only after getting to know all the other fragrances from this series, a good few years after the premiere. I've probably smelled it on the street many times, but Sauvage is as generic as it gets and is completely unmemorable. What to write about him? It smells like an average shower gel. Citrus, slightly peppery with a large, almost overdosed amount of ambroxan, which makes the scent too sharp. Sauvage is fresh, acrid, quite flat, fine, synthetic, a shower gel and not top shelf at all.
Perhaps a few years ago he stood out precisely because of this overload of ambroxan and in this respect he was a pioneer. Today he is one of many like him. Where does Elixir belong to the same series?
With Sauvage, I appreciated Bleu de Chanel more - it's also a shower gel, but at least two shelves higher.

I think the Dior sauvage is the most over-rated perfume (my opinion) these days I smell it everywhere.. every guy I've asked (not all) has the Dior sauvage .. doesn't make you smell special .. just ordinary.
tifawockhardt
I was told EDT was the best projection wise by these YouTubers but it was fake news, very on brand for the Sleepy Joe era. I don’t get the hype around the smell. If I was a woman, I wouldn’t even ATTEMPT to get a second whiff of a man wearing this fragrance, no matter how muscular, tall, or deep his voice is…or how good he dresses…what were we talking about? Oh yea, I sprayed the elixir version of this at my girl’s local UNIQLO & I felt sooooo bad for the people in the long ahh line to try on clothes. I was emitting Sauvage & I just know it was giving them headaches. Uniqlo didn’t deserve that.

Sauvage plays a huge role in my intricate morning edging routine. After regaining consciousness from heavy lucid dreaming about perfect hip-to-waist ratio females I get to work.
I start with my first fragrance layering; a mild 5 spays of Sauvage head to toe. I follow this up with 5 sets of 10 reps kegel exercises.
On to the next layer; 3 sprays of PDM Layton on my perineum. Then I apply a honey almond lotion on my nipples to prevent chafing.
After this I apply the third layer; Sauvage again. I take one spray directly into my nose, two on my abdomen, and two on the glutes. Finally I apply 5 sprays of Aventus all around the neck.
While layering I have a slideshow playing of my favorite erotic media, interrupted rhythmically by devastating car accidents. By result I achieve the perfect cadence of arousal and disgust, raising my edge level through the roof. I’m also combining this with 387 days of No-fap.
The result of this routine is giving me literal superpowers. My rizz is unmatched. My voice has become so deep it causes earthquakes. My compliment factor has reached such high volume it has been declared an official currency. My breath exudes a monumental richness of pheromones, resulting in reproduction of many endangered species, solving a great number of environmental issues.
I am inevitable. I have become… the compliment monster.

This has become the go to scent for kids. Whenever I smell this on a "man" (boy), it's usually someone who makes TikTok videos and says "bro". This and Versace Eros are the TikTok colognes.

''you smell like my brother'' (she wants me) worst thing you can hear.

so its a solid fragrance its popular for a reason but when you have worn it for like a few months even just years ago it becomes intolerable to smell. i use to think it was nice when i first got it but i stopped wearing it and now its just overpowering and smells toxic. i dont see myself wearing it ever now it just seems like a LOT but if i were to wear it its for a fall or winter night
bappeM20
Honestly, this fragrance gets more hate than it deserves.
It is a fairly nice scent with good if not great performance. the community doesn't like it because it is overused and too many people have it although we forget that most people don't even wear fragrance or care this much about fragrance.
I bought this as my first fragrance when I got into the hobby and loved it. I got a few compliments with it as well. I have also tried the others in the line. I would say the edp is more well rounded, parfum is way underrated and smell really good, and the Elixir is probably one of the best in the line.
Would I buy this again? Probably not but that's not to say I don't like it. Would I recommed it? yes. It's a great scent. but looking at other fragrances such as Bleu de Chanel. I don't think you should choose this one.
And unless your surrounded by fragrance enthusiasts 24/7, buy it and enjoy it.
accursednholy
No brainer, not in a bad way. I use this alongside Valentino Uomo Born In Roma when I am the student, Dior Homme 2020 alongside Bulgari Man when I am the teacher.
You can pick this one up without thinking about it. It will, almost definitely, suit the situation. Very basic but distinguishable, has its own character. In my country, most people use dupes of this but the dupes tend to smell very different, so this still smells different.
Deniz14
Basic "manly" perfume. I guess this is a classic, you can wear it in any climate, either day or night. You have to try it at least once. It does work wonders on most girls tho, my ex had it and this perfume is the only thing I miss about that guy.
Afc_Croatian
Fragrances are meant to be shared and loved by everyone, if Sauvage has been popularized then so be it, it smells phenomenal and no popular scent shares the same profile IMO.
If you use Sauvage as a lie to gatekeep your own signature scent I wanna call you a loser for doing that, but chances are your own niche favourite smells like a zoo because hating on Sauvage has become cool for you and you most-likely have an immense hatred for designer scents: because while everyone is enjoying their fragrances, you spread hate online after nobody has complimented you yet on your B.O. - Oud & Iris bomb of a fragrance.
So for that, I thank you for leading others to go buy this scent, because it smells great, and just a friendly reminder that 99% of people do not wear scents everyday, don't be discouraged to buy this just because you think every one will have it.
And to those who comment "I walk by at least 10 people a day who wear this", nobody is gonna believe you anyway, and if they do, chances are they already like Sauvage.
TLDR: Sauvage is still fantastic in 2024, buy it if you like, you won't be disappointed. And if it doesn't last long for you, go easy on the sprays or return your bottle, you may have purchased a fake.
shohruhnorqulov08
My nose is very sensitive to black pepper. Even a small amount of black pepper is immediately noticeable in any perfume, and the perfume seems very sharp (only to my nose, of course), and it is this black pepper that turned me away from Sauvage for years, because it had too much black pepper. And its smell was very sharp to me. I liked smelling it on others, not on myself. I got a new sample yesterday and sprayed it on my wrist. I was stunned. Where did all that spicy black pepper go? The smell seems very mild (I even compared it a bit to Clinique Happy because of its mildness). What made Sauvage great was the black pepper. But I find the black pepper to be too reduced. Of course, the smell is the same, but not as strong and sharp as before. Dior definitely understated the black pepper. But I got a very strong black pepper note from the Edp, just like the old Edt version. Now I choose Edp. But I also love Edt

With its timeless appeal and message of empowerment, Dior Sausage continues to inspire and captivate audiences around the world.

great fragrance all around but I'd suggest buying a clone of this. I have the real thing and a clone I bought at a flea market and it projects and smells better than the real thing

This one didn't project at all, dupes do a better job. I guess that's why elixir took the game up a notch.

This is probably the best scent of 21 century, best creation .
I have smelt 200+ different fragrances, but when i bought opened and smelt this one for the first time (2015/2016), omg no words to describe, and i still love this one
Nowdays we dont appreciate it because of its popularity, but back then i was lucky to rock this one .
And i will never forget how mesmerized i was because of this scent .
Spenceroberg
I really like this fragrance ive had it for a while and its one of my go to fragrances that i use and its a pretty good fragrance
hourglass51
This was my first fragrance I bought in 2020, after not wearing fragrances for a decade. It got me back into fragrances!
Great fresh spicy go to for winter, spring and fall. Is only outshone by Sauvage Elixir, which is another story in and of itself
Sauvage EDT is the kind of fragrance ill always have there just incase
Seanhh1986
I dont care that this is popular, i have nothing against that. Most of my favorites were super common during one decade or another. I like polo blue alot, super common and many would say "generic". THIS is generic. The apex of generic-ness. For the short time i can actually smell this (its not a performance thing, i go noseblind in a way literally nothing else replicates, including the flankers to the edt) it smells like a fuzzy mess with an artificial scratchy nondescript citrus smell. I usually roll my eyes when people say something smells like a cleaning product, but its bad here. "Calabrian Bergamot" my a$$. I notice a big similarity to sauvage in the drydown of versace eau fraiche, another mess, but without the hairspray aqua net thing the versace has. I suppose thats a positive? Ive gone through an entire 3.4 oz bottle and never got any compliments that i can recall. I would never, ever dress up and wear this. Towards the last 1/5th of the bottle i just left it in my bathroom as a room spray. You could say i must be ugly or im old or w.e. lol, but i DO get compliments when i wear other things. Believe me, dont believe me and listen to jeremy fragrance, whatever. At least youre getting into fragrances i guess. But for 100 bucks....you have the world to choose from.
vanillacappuccino
My first foray into designer fragrances as a 14-year old.
Versatile, clean, soapy, fresh spicy. Great projection.
Shame it's become the overused "f--kboy"/"everyone's ex" scent.
Dani83
It smells so shower fresh and clean I like to wear this in high heat summer it’s so lovely and long lasting and such a compliment getter
solobinoy2k
By far the best way to extend your puberty. Look no further than sauvage
charlieq08
People referring to fragrances as for “npc’s”…I mean, do you let your fragrance wear you, or do you wear your fragrance, no matter how popular it is?
sped monkee
good scent
civxrlys
i smell this fragrance on at least 3 guys every single day and im not exaggerating. i turn my head and say “another npc”. smells like synthetic crushed leaves, grass and mud. also if you want to gatekeep a fragrance say you wear this
FragranceSigma
When people compliment my fragrance and ask me what it is, I tell them i'm wearing dior sauvage or versace blue jeans. I own neither of those fragrances. Take that however you want
_ry508
If you are into fragrances or getting into them, please avoid this one. Everyone has smelled it, and majority of men have it. Yes it smells good but it can become cloying to some. Great for winters but if you wanna be apart of the crowd and generic, then this one is for you.
Niche enjoyer
It has good smell, but every 14 y.o has it, and for that price you can get something better and more unique.
TonyG
I don't care how popular this is, it's that for a reason, it smells absolutely incredible. Loved it the second I smelled it. My signature frag and one of my favorites of all time. The fragrance community can really be up its own arse sometimes. The "I dislike it because its popular" thing incredibly poncy and overdone. People love it because it smells great, it's masculine, it's different, it projects like a MF and lasts forever, which is rare for a good smelling fragrance today as usually you only get one or the other. I don't even use Social Media but I can guarantee this is why it gets hate, simply because some attention seeking shitfluencers jumped on the the 'its popular to shit over this' bandwagon and I wanna seem in and hip so I'm just gonna parrot what others say. I like fragrances because of how they smell. Simple. I couldnt care less on if they sell millions of bottles or 2. If I like the smell I'll buy it. I love the smell of this, so I bought it. And I'll keep buying it as long as it smells this way. I haven't smelled the others but I am making a point to do that soon as I'll be blown away if any of the others smell better than this one does. I also have Elixir which is absolutely ASTOUNDING so if it's anything close to these I'm gonna to purchase them all. Amazing fragrance, beautiful bottle, decent price, long lasting and women love it. There's not much to dislike.....
Bregondo
It's great. This is what the modern 21st century guy smells like. Masculine, smells good, performs excellently. If this was released in the 80s or 90s, this would surely be categorized as royal and sophisticated, and might even be called "the scent of the future." Sure, it is hyped and has now become a "common" fragrance but that should not mean that it is bad. It is a modern art, a masterpiece, it has made an impact in the history of fragrance. And its popularity is evidence of this. I enjoy it.
Max.muraski
My first fragrance love, Sauvage will always have a special place in my heart. I don’t care if it’s popular. I wear this because it helps me feel clean and confident and I never regret spraying it on. 9.5/10 for me (I enjoy the EDP even more)
Douk
super specific but my thoughts on this cologne is like my thoughts on red cherries, super popular with a lot of people but one of my least favorite fragrances and everytime I try to come back to try it again I remember how much I dislike it, also to me the opening smells like a marker (if it weren't for fahrenheit this would probably be my least favorite Dior fragance)
YouSexyBeast
Dear Sauvage,
You are a viagra of a fragrance! WILD! Thank you for magnetizing aura you project. The longevity you have is rock hard. The smell is so good that others are pulled to say "You smell so good!" You gave me confidence and nonchalance to speak to the most beautiful women and win many hearts. You have the mystery of the ocean and the depth of Mariana Trench. I know now adays everyone knows you because you are famous. But I am thankful for all those experiences you brought and still continue to bring.
Sincerely,
The Sexy Beast

"TikTok rizz party fragrance" is the most accurate name for it . It smells like straight rubbing alcohol and nothing else at the start and it smells better later on but everyone who uses it wears 30 sprays 🤮

Sauvage by Dior:
A typical blue fragrance, one of the big three. As is the case with all blue frags its great for any season and age, day or night. It's fresh spicy and woody and peppery with a subtle metallic note. Amazing performance in both sillage and longevity. It's overworn like with BdC and YSL Y but aside from that it's a fragrance most will enjoy.
Top notes: Bergamot, pepper
Middle notes: Metallic, more peppers, patchouli
Base notes: Ambroxan, woods
Longevity: 5/5
Sillage: 4.5/5
Scent: 4/5
Design: 4/5
Gender: Masculine
Overall: 4/5

My wife bought me this in 2023 October for my birthday and it smells so good. Problem I have with it is, it is weak and has ver low projection, much more
for intimate moments with your wife. Or this was reformulated as some are suggesting. Was expensive for its over performance. I will give this 9/10 for the scent and 6/10 for performance.
zavi
I almost never reach for my bottle of Dior Sauvage because I know it's so common and I almost feel conditioned not to wear it. But man, on the days I do reach for it it, I'm always reminded by just how great this stuff is.
Sometimes I wish this wasn't the most popular fragrance in the world, just so that I could have it all to myself. But anyways, there's no shame in wearing what you like, no matter how popular it is.
Definitely going to start rocking this more often.
Fagrance
Opening smells like a sharpie
Phresh Man
I hate to break the news but IT'S BEEN REFORMULATED! I remember smelling this stuff back in 2016 and it was soooo strong from one spray! It was one big peppery, ambroxan BOMB but not anymore. I stopped by my local Macy's and decided to revisit it in 2024 and I had to spray myself with 4 sprays before I could smell it on me. This isn't olfactory fatigue...this stuff has been neutered which means the prices of those early batches will soon increase...
I'm already hunting from early batches now as I type this
SamTheOrca
Sauvage by Dior is a fragrance that holds a special place in the hearts of many fragrance enthusiasts, including myself. With its combination of rugged masculinity and modern elegance, it's no surprise that it's become a staple in the collections of many.
One of Sauvage's undeniable strengths is its stellar performance. It boasts impressive longevity, clinging to the skin for hours on end without losing its potency. Its sillage is also noteworthy, projecting just the right amount of scent to leave a lasting impression without overwhelming those around you. This reliability makes Sauvage a go-to choice for any occasion, whether it's a casual day out or a formal evening event.
The standout feature of Sauvage is undoubtedly its peppery notes. They provide a sharp and invigorating opening that immediately grabs your attention. This boldness is tempered by the citrusy freshness that follows, creating a dynamic and multifaceted scent experience. It's this balance between spicy and citrusy that gives Sauvage its mass appeal, making it a crowd-pleaser for people of all ages and tastes.
However, while Sauvage excels in many areas, it does fall short in terms of originality. Its composition, while expertly crafted, doesn't break any new ground in the world of perfumery. It's a safe and reliable choice, but it lacks the depth and complexity that set truly exceptional fragrances apart.
In conclusion, Sauvage by Dior is a fragrance that lives up to its reputation as a modern classic. Its outstanding performance and mass appealing peppery notes make it a versatile option for any occasion. However, its lack of originality prevents it from reaching the highest echelons of greatness. Despite this, it remains a solid choice for anyone seeking a dependable and versatile scent that never fails to impress.
ChickenTacos79
A pleasant, versatile smell, though I prefer the EDP and Elixir. This one has an almost "Starburst candy" sweetness in the opening. I should say, for all the condemnation this receives here for being overused, the sample I purchased a few months back was the first time I'd ever smelled this. So if you like it, ignore the Fragrantica comments are wear it.
SniffDogg
Someone said Sauvage smells like Raid bug spray, it's true and I couldn't forget that comment. I am someone who really likes pepper in cologne. My first favorite was Opium Pour Homme from 1995. I also frequently wear Versace Dylan Blue which does smell similar to Sauvage with its peppery dry-down, but doesn't smell like bug spray. I personally wear most of the Versace colognes and Terre d'Hermes. I would not recommend Sauvage to anyone. I'm sure the other Dior colognes are good though and maybe even Sauvage Elixir is better.
ctud
Yes! Smells perfect! Smells exactly like the TikTok Rizz Party and Teenage Boys 🤤🤤🤤
Mortarelli
Dior Sauvage and Prada Luna Rossa Carbon smell quite similar (and have a similar price tag) but if I had to pick one of the two, I'd choose Prada Carbon for sure. Sauvage smells too much like hand soap, its too clean. Prada Carbon has a more metallic note and a sharper pepper note, giving more of a masculin cologne vibe.
TheTrackEnthusiast
I like the spicy woodiness of the scent but it doesn’t last or project like i want it to
meluis2
Gaboich
I dont get the hype about this fragrance and why it is so much more popular than other fragrances.
First of all its nothing special just a spicy blue fragrance
and second its pretty overpriced for the quality and boring scent u are getting.
It smells decent but get something else bc it lacks uniqueness and MANY boys have it.
bonJOVIN
a peppery, citrus and ambroxan fragrance that is easily a great choice for beginners. it's long lasting (6-7 hours) and projects heavily with just 3 sprays. sure everyone has this but you know why? it's mass appealing and smells really good.

Most people don't wear a fragrance. This means most people aren't wearing sauvage. This minimizes the chances of smelling this. Thank God
mayusakuma
shoutout to my girls who have also been hurt by sauvage warriors 🙏 definitely a very memorable scent😭
sntiago
as a woman, I do not like this on men.... a generic pepper axe deodorant nightmare - it's a peppery spicy slightly sweet male scent. I also get something powdery and it's heavy on aromatics - and I get a non-sweet lavender but I also think maybe there's some rosemary and thyme in this. it dries down salty (probably something with the amber-pepper combo) and projects really well. it's not an offensive fragrance by any means - I just do not understand why this scent is so outrageously popular. the bergamot-pepper-aromatics combo for male perfumes is overdone and is ALWAYS indistinguishable from Aftershave or male shampoo/deodorant - maybe a really nice expensive Aftershave, but I wouldn't pay perfume prices to smell like that. I prefer my men to smell like leather, cinnamon, cigars and booze. and perfumes heavy on black pepper always make me sneeze...
HardRMoses
Sneeze inducing pepper, skunky smell remains.
Smn08
Dior Sauvage is one of the best perfumes I ever had. The smell is really good, with mostly fresh spicy lavender notes. I spray it 3-4 times, and the smell lasts for 5-6 hours. It gets you a lot of compliments. The price is just a little too expensive. Overall I give it a 9.4 out of 10.
MrMrBrian
Ugh As boring for me personally to wear & someone who has a whole lot of mostly niche fragrances I cannot say that I dislike this one. And despite having lots of fragrances, I feel like people I know likes this more than most all the other fragrances I own which means I have already & will repurchase it again along with the aftershave balm & deoderant lol..I’ve learned some time ago & still see this sure enough that it stands out when sweating! It gets sweeter with body heat & truth be told in the summertime year after year this gets me quite a bit of compliments…Going off the random people & the repeat compliments from people I know it’s more than likely a clear winner as far as any of that is concerned. I don’t layer!! but thought about buying the Elixer and sneaking a little bit of that in with it account It think it’s the same thing with a quality smelling caramel in it! I have been bored to death of it personally for a while now, But there’s no denying there’s a reason why this is a record breaking designer fragrance..People just love it! & I’m not hating

I kindly ask every single fuckboi on earth to change their perfume because this perfume DOES NOT MAKE YOU a hottie alpha male nor a savage. it just makes you look like you might enjoy some dubious podcasts and thinks he is a heartbreaker because his body count was more than 3. it also makes you smell like you might enjoy 4 in 1 shampoos. the stereotypical fanbase of this perfume is stereotypical for a reason.
JonahD2009
Sauvage, while being one of the most popular fragrances of all time, is dogsh*t. This just doesn't smell good at all, to my nose. DO NOT TAKE MY OPINION IF YOU NEED A STARTER. While I do not think that this smells good, it performs very well, and lasts long. DO NOT OVERSPRAY. This Fragrance needs about 3-4 sprays, and to anybody who sprays over 4 times, GET AWAY FROM ME. Even though it doesn't smell good to me doesn't mean that it doesn't smell good to anybody else. There is a reason why this is one of the most popular fragrances. In alternative to this, you can get Versace Dylan Blue for more than half of the price, still smells bad to my nose. For the same price, get Michael Malul Ocean Noir. DO NOT BASE YOUR OPINIONS FROM MY COMMENT.
Biglou88
I could care less if this might be labelled a dad scent by some age demographics, I’m 36 and to me this will always be a timeless scent. End of, period😀
Dior Sausage
@ThatBlindbuyGuy is way behind the times. The kid you just described is smelling like Le Male Elixir or Stronger With You Intensely. None of that TikTok generation are wearing Sauvage, it's seen as a dad-frag now if anything. The "Sauvage is NPC/played out" meme is about 5 years old and I'm convinced people still peddling this myth never go out in public. The current trend among that age-group is cloyingly sweet sugarbombs. 21-25 year olds ain't wearing blue freshies nor is TikTok hyping them.
ThatBlindbuyGuy
Sauvage eau de toilette as a fragrance isn't bad, infact it smells good! But, it's a victim of its own mainstream success.
Sauvage has now got a stereotype of wearer unfortunately i.e. smells like your local 21 to 25 year old "f**k boy" whom spends all day at the gym and can afford to because his single mom keeps a roof over his head, waters and feeds him... thinks he's it because he has two mid girls on the go at the same time... his mom on Saturday mornings cooks for her son and his most recent lay breakfast as she glows proudly of the prospect that her son is seemingly popular and desirable...
Need I say more?

I used to be a big hater of this fragrance. But if we are all honest here, this dosnt smell bad. This is popular for a reason. The only negative things i can say is that the longegivity isnt as great as it once used to be. Another things is do not overspray. This thing when oversprayed is annoying and cloying.

I love coming back to this fragrance and reading endless hate reviews from internet trolls.
It's nice to see Sauvage is still doing well enough to upset the haters.

Very sharp and artificial compared to the EDP.

I’m not sure how to describe this besides “Meh”. It’s a spicy fresh fragrance that’s overly synthetic imo. I ended up selling it
EpicSniffer
I don't understand the hate for this fragrance, yes its overused. but that's because its a great and unique scent. only 10% of guys ever wear fragrance and even less everyday, however my guess would be 5 percent of that 10 wear sauvage. i find it to be more of a cold weather scent, i get a lot of warm spicy instead of fresh. but could be worn any weather in the right situation. this fragrance is a statement. beware of over spraying.
longevity: 8/10

very mass appealing, 4 sprays is perfect for this

Anyone who has a 3.4 oz version of this, lightly used (around 15 sprays) I'll trade you for my 3.4 oz sauvage edp (only 9 sprays used)

Dior does it again. This is up there with DHI as far as how truly good it is. I actually bought this fragrance when it first came out years ago and sold it because of how many others were wearing it.. my girlfriend Loved it too. Fast forward and I just purchased another bottle because it is a feel good scent. This is better than the EDP in my opinion. The EDP doesn't have that crisp crack to it like the EDT does. Also the Elixir takes on more dimension for sure but is much warmer and also harkens back to a different time when fragrances we thick and pungent. The elixir is good but the EDT is my favorite. It's not ground breaking but it's got this aromatic, metallic, dryer sheet white tee cleanness to it. This is a jack of all trades in that it can be dressed down or be your signature for a wedding. Does well in high heat or the cold. Performance is also very good. This is less sweet than Blue Chanel which is another excellent all arounder but I prefer this for that extra kick it provides. Sometimes simpler is better and this is one of those cases where the ingredients are harmonized and it doesn't take a laundry list of them to complete the objective.

Does not perform well

Bergamot and some soft pepper, it smells like those unscented soaps that have a little bit of an escent but seriously get YSL EDP if you truly wanna smell like similar but with more style and uniqueness .
LDNA
A very beautiful men’s fragrance. Feels contemporary and will go down in the classic fragrances hall of fame. A bit of passive woody sweetness plays interestingly with the herbal spiciness, which seems to trigger the happy chemicals in my brain and I just can’t stop sniffing it. I get the hype.
Diorsavagesigm
You nose has never expericned anymore more magical and perfect. If you dive into this experience of dior savage you will be sigma. Only real sigmas use savage. you erither stand with em or against me! LIKE IF YOU ARE A REAEL SIGMA!!!
rrrroyer
I don't get it. Why would you like to smell like a fresh bergamot when you can buy a niche fragrance for 300+ that smells like sh!t?
People hating on it clearly don't understand the clientele this fragrance got.
Sauvage77
A great versatile beginner fragrance.Nice projection and longevity and it is very mass appealing. It is very generic nowdays but still who cares,if you like the smell go for it.
FreshNBussin
This is a legendary scent and it's not by mistake. It is extremely enjoyable. Fresh with a spicy kick, the perfect male scent in my opinion. ''Everybody wears it''...''Don't smell like her EX''...''Be unique''...No. I don't care! I. Don't. Care. This is one of the best scents a man can wear, P.E.R.I.O.D. And for the record, remember that most people don't even wear or care for fragrances so just wear what you like!

Second bottle, batch 1F02/2021, simply magnificent and sublime, what a fresh opening, invigorating with a sharp spicy/lavender citrus, then calms down establishing the base that my sense of smell likes most, the marine, saline, ozonic ambroxan, etc., referring to the ocean on a hot day with choppy waves crashing to the shore. Perfume that I will always have by my side.
Lucas89
My mom bought this for me and i love it. I use it all year round but my girlfriend wierdly recognises it from somewhere.
iLoveSandal
A fragrance I smell everywhere. I like it, but sometimes it can be too much.
artocross
There's a reason why this is the most used and most popular male fragrance. It's versatile, mass appealing and decently priced. It has great performance and could definitely get you compliments. However, if you are someone who wants to stand out and smell unique and different from others, then this is definitely not the fragrance you want to go for.
Rajanthakur
Compliment getter but now days in 2024 it is not so long lasting hardly 3 to 4hrs

If i was to smell this cologne i would become a bop. I dont care if im just a booty call i would want them to hit me from all sides. I would swallow all the cheese off the tip if possible.

I tested this at a reputable authorized outlet just over a week ago and really liked it, so I bought it as a daily. The talk of it being too common didn't phase me as I live in a place where I'm pretty sure that that the vast majority of males buy cologne from a supermarket or pharmacy - if at all. There's nothing wrong with that but the chances of coming across multiple other users is slim.
Big mistake - this just disappears on me and is non existent within 2 hours or so with next to zero projection after as little as 30 minutes. I started with 5 sprays and am now up to 10 sprays spread over neck, wrists and inside elbows on top of unscented moisturized skin. It's not just my nose, I have verified with others that can't smell any hint of this fragrance on me after 2 to 3 hours. Just yesterday morning I went shopping for fragrance again and 2 female shop assistants could not smell anything on me after 2 1/2 hours of applying.
I was so disappointed that I considered the unlikely scenario that I might have a fake, even though I bought it from one of the biggest authorized outlets in the city. I went through the process of verifying via a couple of very thorough YouTube videos and it is indeed genuine.
For some reason this just doesn't work with my skin and in hindsight I should have at least paid the extra for the EDP. I think I'll give it to a family member to see if it works for someone else, but I might try the Curly Fragrance over spraying minimum of 16 sprays to see if it makes any difference....somehow I doubt it will.
SgtButtCheeks
Replying to mikomykomeeko3…
Only 3 possibilities here:
1. Your nose is broken. Since you said others can’t smell it on you, that’s probably not it.
2. Someone sold you a fake. Not sure where you bought so that’s still possible.
3. Bad batch. If it’s not #2 this is probably the reason. Sauvage is a beast and it performs as such.
Either way, try Sauvage Elixer if you can. It’s a step up in quality and performance from the EDT.
mikomykomeeko
This was my 2nd ever fragarance. Not sure if I got a poor batch but sillage has been very weak. I'm pretty sure it's not nose blindness because nobody can smell it on me unless they shove their face onto my neck. Even I struggle to smell it on my wrist...
Either way, it's an alright fragrance but I've since explored quite a few different styles so the 'blue' smell kind of feels generic to me. It's by no means a bad fragrance, just lacks excitement for me now but at the time, it was great!
chochi77
Doesn't matter if this one has turned into a super common fragrance. As everyone is saying. Screw them! Just Don't listen to them. You still smell like a :.Prince.: Sauvage is an absolute beast!! Super sexy, Fresh, seductive and intimate. Its got the DNA that will turn a goofball into a champion!!. and a Champion into a sex god!! Absolute winner, Panty dropper, chic magnet, compliment getter. A big Win. Use it in the Gym, after shower, date night, before sleep, right before sex. So what !! just smell sexy 24hrs !!!! i finish a 100ml in 2 weeks !!
Lasts for endless hours.
scent is Sexy and fresh.

Opens like aniseed soap, goes grassy/herby then into a nice peppery whiff. Drìes down into a what smells like a nice fresh mens sporty shower gel. Prefer the Elixir but it's pretty good compared to some on the market. It's alright.
YoutubeChannelBobGianShow
i didn't like the scent. Very nauseating! i tried the edt and parfum, and elixir.
Elixir is milder and better, atleast to my nose.
Ismelllikeuniconrs21
A troll can wear it and I'll find him seductive and appealing. Original and irresistible.
Lincoln_666
Don't let Fragrance Nerds stop you from buying Sauvage. Sauvage is a perfect, everyday fresh scent. Great performance and projection, crowd-pleasing compliment getter. Of all the fragrances I own, this easily gets the most compliments. It is rare that I wear 3-4 sprays of this on a night out and don't get a compliments by the end of the night.
iker091611
People call it "npc" but it actaully smells really nice, kind of reminds me of the beach.
Felixthreeone
Despite the hate that this now gets, it is a good fragrance. It IS everywhere. It IS super popular *outside* of the frag community (yes, there are other people out there voting with their wallets). Things that are popular or become mainstream popular garner negativity because of their success and then they cease to have the same relevance they once did. It happens with everything, everywhere at some point. Cars, shoes, etc... So fragrances are yet another example. Why did this become so popular and mass-appealing? Because that is what it was designed to do. That doesn't make it bad. Actually, I find it quite nice to wear from time to time. Not as a signature, but occasionally. Just my 2 cents.
Zhuó Li Fougère
solobinoy2k dedicates his life to post hate comments on sauvage... :D people like him, being so obsessed with sauvage are contributing to its success. idk what neuron in your brain needs to crack, that you are taking your time every couple days to hate on such an irrelevant thing like a fragrance.
it is this pure obsession, that makes it just psychotic at this point.
everyone can see that he is dreaming about sauvage every second night
Muskyflower
Recently purchased, from ulta, gucci guilty pour homme edp (the one with rose and balsamic vinegar).
Ulta gave me 20% off my purchase and stuffed free samples of sauvage edt and dior homme 2020 in my bag.
Forget all the haters.
Forget the hate.
Forget everything you heard about this frag being "not unique" or "over popular" or "douchey" or whatever else negative has been said towards this.
This is soooooo Good!
Edit: went back ulta today and bought a bottle of Sauvage and montblanc legend spirit.
Honestly, I feel like most of my fragrance needs have been satisfied. It is going to be a while before I have the urge to buy anything else.

"Smell like everyone" "Smell like a fuckboy" "Smell like a frat bro". While all of these may possibly be true, Dior Sauvage is an incredible smelling cologne that by FAR will get you the most compliments much like JPG Ultra Male and the likes. One of my personally redeeming likes about this scent is that it's not TOO chemically like much of the Invictus line. A lovely spring, night, fresh, clubbing scent that can be used almost throughout the entire year.

Bought this because of the hype and maybe good PR .. regretted immediately. Doesn't last a decent duration .. Smells horrible and irritates my noise .. most overrated

Sauvage - at first - smells somewhat sweet, somewhat clean, and somewhat pleasant. But then the overpowering synthetic, salty, metallic note takes over - like most men's fragrances these days. And it never. Goes. Away.
Sauvage is something of a cliche in 2024, but that's mostly because it's so successful. It's "dude cologne". It's been emulated in like a thousand fragrances and hygiene products. If you think you haven't smelled this - well, you have. It's what that herd of college males stampeding from bar to bar smells like. Or that hand soap that you tried to rinse off, but it seems to linger forever. Or that body wash you bought for your nephew because he really needs to step up his hygiene.
Yes, it smells like Axe - not sure which one - maybe more than one. As I think about this more, I'm pretty sure that Axe got to this scent profile about a decade before Sauvage was released. Not to say Axe is better.
It probably doesn't need to be said to most people here, but just to be clear - Sauvage is not Eau Sauvage. Dior has confused and hurt the value of its classic trademark by giving the new scent a name so similar to the classic scent. (I prefer Eau Sauvage 100 out of 100 times, but that's not really the point of this review.)
WildCalifornia
What more can I say about this cologne . It smells fantastic and can be worn 24/7 365 days a year . I like it and women love it . There is a ton of hate on this cologne but that will always come with something as popular as this . It smells great, it last a long time and the sillage is as strong as you want it. 3 sprays of this and you'll be smelled in a room. I would put half a spray in my beard and you would be able to tell where I was by the trail it leaves This is one I will always have in my collection

Dior Sauvage smells like magic! It's like really good glue that sticks to your nose and makes you feel like you're in a forest and a cave at the same time. It's happy and scary all mixed up, like when you play with your toys and pretend they're friends but also monsters. And then, poof! It goes away, but you remember it forever, like a super cool dream. It's not just a smell, it's like going on a big adventure in your brain!

I thought I didn’t like this for a long time because it can smell like body odour on many people I’ve smelled it on and I already associated it with seedy taxi drivers but after getting a tester and trying it myself it actually smells good on me. Can’t really describe it well, it’s musky and peppery. Quite strong, you can actually tell as soon as someone walks in a room wearing it. You can still smell it the morning after wearing it. Probably too strong for some but many many people love it. Definitely more of an evening scent. I personally wouldn’t wear it to work.

Solobinoy2k what an absolute joker you are 🤡
solobinoy2k
Once again, and now for 2024, rated worse perfume of the year 👌
I doubt bottling sewage water could take that title away from sauvage. But keep buying!
Erodeox
Despite what haters think of this perfume, it is the masterpiece of mass-appealing perfumes for men. It possesses all the good qualities that a typical fragrance enthusiast would love (yet every fragrance enthusiast seems to dislike this one): a distinct scent profile, great sillage, excellent longevity, affordability (especially when on discount), high quality, and versatility. I first used it during a spring I spent in the Kansai area, and the scent was just perfect for the weather and theme of travel back then.
jhiggins96
Only niche snobs hate this (I used to be one of those people). Most people love to hate it. Most people also really don't wear colognes that much. Hell I'm in Las Vegas as I type this and I barely smell any cologne here. Point I'm trying to make is that women love the smell, it's versatile for any occasion and it's very long lasting with good projection. What's not to like. Not every cologne needs to be "challenging." I swear people base their whole personality on the cologne they're wearing. They must not get any coochie
-Specs-
If I’m being honest, not a good fragrance. Projection is great. That’s about the only thing going for this. Smells like something a child/teen would buy at Abercrombie or American eagle. I’m willing to bet Johnny Depp doesn’t actually wear this fragrance.
solobinoy2k
The absolute best at capturing the alluring aura of blue toilet bowl cleaner. None can do it better than sauvage 👌
Tomasr
You have heard it all regarding Dior Sauvage. I want to give my .02 based solely on its merit rather than the mass popularity supported by Johnny Depp (a major contributing factor to its appeal), and why it is also “hated."
Getting right to it, I really like Dior Sauvage, it is uplifting, it puts me in a good mood, I enjoy how it wears on myself, and my skin chemistry is spot on for this fragrance. I will also note it isn't boring..it is complex and alluring throughout its wear time. The bergamot/pepper/ambroxan/lavender accords are some of the ingredients masterfully crafted by Francois Demachy. We should also acknowedge what the house of Dior means to the entire perfume industry.
I will not get into why it is perhaps a victim of its own success..rather, I will put it as there are numerous reasons to acknowledge why this is a highly successful fragrance. Men over the years have "over" worn Brut, Old Spice, Drakkar Noir, Acqua di Gio among others...If my entire fragrance collection were to disappear, and all I had was a bottle of Brut in front of me, I would gladly wear it just for the enjoyment that I am wearing a scent that once had its heyday and is still uplifting to millions of men that would probably wear nothing more.
It is easy to fall into the confines of others (snobs) telling you what you should and should not wear, I myself have fallen in that same trap, and it has taken me years to appreciate Sauvage on its own merit. You should wear what makes you happy, and Dior Sauvage edt, as well as the entire line, does that for me.

I used Sauvage EDT as my signature for some time, let me give an honest review for those wondering if they should buy it based on positive and negatives.
POSITIVES:
- The smell is really amazing for those trying it for the first time, hard to confuse with anything else, pretty unique. It is objectively one of the best fragrances of all time period. Now, that doesn't mean you can't dislike it, after all each individual taste is not objective. The main note is pepper through and through, citrusy opening, the dry down is a dusty lavander with a bit of wood. I don't think it smells synthetic at all to be honest, smells tasteful and balanced to me.
- It's versatile. Even though it's definitely more to the strong side, you can pretty much wear it on any weather and occasion if you don't over spray it. Obviously if you have other options there are better fragrances for specific situations, but not everyone has this luxury or cares enough.
- This should be an obvious one: most people will like to smell this on you. That is way people like fragrances right? Gives a clean and slightly mysterious/sexy vibe and is strong enough to grab attention.
NEGATIVES:
- Most people who knows a bit of colognes will have an opinion about this one, and this might be discouraging to some. HOWEVER keep in mind, this will vary a lot based on the country you are from, social status, age, and other factors. Not many people I know would recognize this for instance, and I don't remember smelling it on someone else ever in my day to day activities. It's not common at all and very expensive around here. And you know, out of YouTube and TikTok not everybody is an expert that knows every fragrance ever, this might be relevant information to everyone calling this 'NPC'.
- This is the main one for me: if you use this everyday you might get a bit nose blind to it. I did, and I was barely able to tell if had sprayed it or not. This is probably due to the pepper note being the core of the cologne, you kinda go numb to it after using it a lot. So I basically use this every now and then now, and I am more interested in using fragrances that are more intimate as my signature.
In short, there is a reason why this is so popular, it's because it's good even though it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
GingyFragrance
This fragrance gets an unnecessary amount of hate. Some people may simply not like this DNA, but it’s a super safe mass appealing fragrance. Don’t let the negative reviews defer you. If you’re into fragrances, you’ll know of Sauvage, but it’s a pretty small community. It won’t be often when you run into someone else wearing the same scent.
Dior Sausage
Agreed. I smell this nowhere. Everyone is walking around reeking of cloying sugar bombs thanks to TikTok. I smell Stronger With You Intensely and Le Male Elixir on a near daily basis. The coast is clear for Sauvage EDT in 2024.
MOREPOWER6949
Best fragrance oat. People only hate on it because everyone used it because of how good it is. Not only does it have one of the best atomizers, it smells amazing. Not that many people even use dior sauvage cuz everyone hates on it.

Synthetic to the point of giving me headache.

Recently i went to a big mall and smelled all the versions of dior sauvage, the only one i really liked was the edt, i understand why there is so much hate towards it, because it is the best.
Cmurf
Wonderful fragrance. period. there is a reason it is so popular. it’s because it really is that good. it blends a sharp, but very nice, citrus with a smooth ambery ambroxen. basically just smells like a clean seductive man. Many fragrances influencers hate this fragrance because it gets way more attention than their 3-4 hundred dollar fragrances. and yes, it is overused so I would not recommend wearing it on a date or to somewhere when you want to make a impression on someone because chances are they already know this scent. if you want to wear it to school, work, gym, wear it with confidence because you will smell great.

Coffee_
It's good. I like the freshness, though it's still synthetic and therefore is not as good as BDC. I also think that Dior Homme 2020 is a nicer all-rounder. Higher quality and roughly the same price.
Amunra
Tested this on skin. Yea, there is a reason it's so popular. Strong but soft and airy, fresh and clean smelling. It's not overhyped, it smells very good. It's simple, pleasant, and inoffensive. Can't go wrong with this. I'd buy.
EDIT: Another positive that occurred to me as I'm wearing this, this is a great scent for layering. It would act as a very versatile base/enhancer for other scents.
KaanGünaydın
Perfume should be a little special and arouse curiosity. It shouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind when asked to name a perfume. Overhyped and a little overrated.
Inangahua
Better than many I've tried lately. At least there is something there to form an opinion on, unlike two recent ghost spirits and complete let downs, The One and Acqua di Gio.
If I was still working, and still working in an office this would be a good contender. As it is it is pleasant, non offensive, it has the quality of wafting which is attractive. It lasts which is also attractive. It's linear which isn't a bad quality, but there is definitely no entertainment or entrainment in it. I bought a 5ml sample. I'll use half of it and pass the rest on to my son and continue on my search for my olfactory golden fleece. But I will remember this one with a degree of respect for what it is, better than many others that should try harder.
jhattzi
I recently bought this fragrance and I must say it is the best fragrance I have ever smelt. It's so sexy and by boyfriend loves this.
tarit
Yeah it's overused but it's better than most fragrances. EDP and Elixir are better but this is just one classic.
bigboipascal
-> Super Versitile, Women love it, Bad Boy/Rough doesn't give a s*&$% fragrance, independant man type of scent.
It's Dior Savage. You can wear this in anywhere. If you want to pull off bad boy archetype or want to have one night stands basically this perfume is all you need. Gets bad reputation beacuse everyone uses it. Don't be discuraged if you don't wear any other perfumes. Women are definetly addicted to this, but never want to admit it. Don't use this for very formal ocassions like weddings or very formal office meetings.
If you want to find a wife, this perfume might get you to a divorce instead because you'll be cheating on your wife XD.
Fragrance0
I was expecting to like this because it’s so popular, but it’s just so spicy for me and even the dry down smells bad. Wouldn’t recommend for people who don’t want to smell offensive. It’s very versatile but lacks originality at just smells synthetic. 6/10
JamesPawn
too me it smells kinda like a cheap profumo the sample tested was from like 6 years ago and its still overpriced at 80
_jjoseph
This is my first fragrance and was given to me as a gift.
I rate this fragrance 8.9/10, perfect for everyday wear, but nothing too complex.
Performance-wise, 3 sprays were enough to last me 4-6 hours on skin, and 8 hours when on clothes.
Scent-wise, it is a very easy and pleasant scent, surprisingly a bit darker than what I expected but still very safe.
mfjuho
Loved for a reason, may be overdone and overused but absolutely a modern masterpiece.
longevity ~ 7hrs but radiates off pretty heavily for most of the duration.
If you want to smell nice to everyone, this is the one to go for

I'm brand new to fragrances and this is one of my firsts. I'm still learning to pick out different notes, but I get a fresh, slightly spicy, warm vibe from it. It's nothing mind- blowing but it is a solid fragrance. Not offensive at all. Could easily be a daily wear to the office, date night, or a wedding.
HermanoBasura
To me, this fragrance isn't the best. If I were to describe this, it's like spending the night in a gas chamber. It is very heavy, and almost everyone and their mother has this. Many like it, I personally don't. It may long last and have decent silage, but overall, it's very overwhelming and doesn't smell the best. 4/10 it's okay but I don't like it.
zypressen
Having finished a decant, I initially had positive impressions but reading opinions here talking like God himself came down from heavens smelling like this cologne felt so ridiculous. It's good but good is subjective. It can be overpowering (though not as much as other Dior like Fahrenheit) and not liking the spice ambroxan bomb that assaults your nose doesn't make you a "hipster". There are all kinds of tastes and preferences in the world, and I personally don't want to remind my girlfriend of her ex and uncle at the same time
Pinochles
this was the cologne that got me started on my journey. my girlfriend bought me a bottle in 2019 for christmas. awesome fragrance with beast mode performance. who cares if other people wear it. will forever be nostalgic to me.
Biglou88
Very well said by kyer. I’ve only smelt this a handful of times on other guys in the last 9 years. This will never get old in my eyes. An all time favourite for me
Kyer
95% of people that say they hate this are lying.
You can’t hate a smell this good, all they hate on is how popular and overdone it is. This, like One Million or Invictus is an example of fragrances that are fantastic but people like to hate on them just because of how common they are.
I don’t even use this fragrance anymore but I enjoy smelling the cap, but people, you gotta keep it real, it’s not a bad fragrance, you just want to find a fragrance that no one else uses…
sarp
People that say they dislike or hate this cologne are just trying to be different! best cologne for a collection, all year round for sure. Is very common but its very common for a reason if that makes sense.
percpatroller.frags
could be cheaper
gets compliments so no complaints
dont overspray
smell like everybody else
Screwtheifra
2018 was the golden year of sauvage edt when dior used more expensive higher quality materials by mistake with out knowing it. 2018 bottles last 12+hours project 10feet

It's a good fragrance, however you smell like her ex, her friends, her uncle and so on... You are not unique wearing this. So this can not be a signature fragrance, however it can be a good casual fragrance.
If you're looking for something unique, get something else.

When someone close to me wearing this in public transport etc. I feel like I am in the middle of a dust storm, and gasping for air. That's how Sausage (ambroxan) smells, exactly like a dust storm.
No other notes detectable (if really any except ambroxan).
Fortyfree
Very fresh; Citrus, dusty lavender and ambroxan.
Spakling blast of mint and citrus (bergamot and grapefruit) in the opening. Very memorable.
Soon becomes masculine with a prominent "dusty" lavender note.
Darkens, has some subtle spices.
Becomes woodier, a little fruity but with a heavy whack of ambroxan.
A little smoky towards the base. Remains dusty.
Some vetiver.
Has that Francois Demachy era - woody drydown that has become familiar to the house. (and TBH it's still one of the nicest drydown's in the game!)
Even though it's less than a decade old, it's so omnipotent that it almost smells nostalgic.
Performance is great, no issues whatsoever.
Suits men ages 20-60. All year, but better at night (fantastic date scent.)
A compliment king...maybe even an emporer?
Hard not to like it.
BraindeadTiktokLoser
For real though, this fragrance got me smelling like a snack, no joke.
HappyKitsune
In my opinion great for a teenager or a senior, but not in the between. Extremely strong projection. For an 30-60s guy it might be a quite funny.
BebedordeCafé
Fresh opening of an awesome bergamot. It smells better than most bergamots in fragrances, a bit tad sweeter also.
Then it settles down to a peppery scent with hints of bergamot peel , lavender and the typical fougere stuff like geranium (though I can't isolate it). It amazes me how people think this is a super freshy. In the heat, the pepper and maybe vetiver (and possibly some unlisted leather accord, because I don't think vetiver alone gives fragrances a smoky feel) make this a bit dry.
alpine marmot
I have never smellt a perfume this bad and I discussed it with some friends and weirdly they don't have the same reaction to it. To me, it's a tonsil-stone-like aroma that is so strong I can barely breathe. Everyone wears it but I only met one guy who wore it that i could bear the scent of (after a few hours).
odeur_mon_dieu
I get some similarities to Fahrenheit with the warm spiciness and lavender, but minus the leather (and gasoline) undertones. It’s fairly inoffensive. I don’t really think it’s a love it or hate it scent, probably more a scent that a guy can wear and just smell nice. I get why some people might expect more from it, but I think it strives to be fairly mainstream or more of a staple - a cologne for every guy. And I can see guys of all ages wearing it, although it may have more appeal to younger guys. More of a fall/winter scent, probably okay for day or night. Probably an okay blind buy, or to buy as a gift for most guys if you know they like warm spicy scents.
solobinoy2k
Are you a teenager looking for attention? This is your jam
Bibi16
Beautiful sexy scent for men that projects and lasts. A guy came to our flat and sat in the living room for 30 min and left, that scent remained for another 2hrs and my friends and I were hooked, smelt way too good that was 2017. Now this is used by everyone & their uncles and lost its appeal. Move on fellas, try other scents too
Etxrnity
To me it has a very dark, fruity scent. I enjoy it a lot but so many people have this fragrance. Loll
8.5/10
Behr
Overrated? Yes, but still a classic and one of the best spicy fresh fragrances out there. It is a sharp spicy but as it dries I feel like it gets a bit smoothed. Overall just a good day to day scent for any age group. Probably more of a cool weather scent in my opinion. The bottle packaging and especially the twist on magnetic cap is excellent.
gianfrancoceppi
Idgaf if it’s overused or synthetic, this is a timeless masterpiece. The most versatile fragrance ever (way more than y edp and bdc) and performance doesn’t disappoint. 10/10
Hamza_Chaudry03
2015-2016, you just had to be there.
Then; majestic, low-key as very few were aware of it, and projecting and long-lasting.
Now; overpriced, overused, basic, and just the way some of you guys describe it below haha. In 2024, your hard-earned money can buy much better
Samurai23
I understand some people really like this perfume and maybe it can blow your mind if it is your intro to the fragrance world... BUT... I have to agree with a lot of the negative reviews, Sauvage is an abrasive, synthetic, shallow, loud and a really mediocre scent.
kapinss
For me the smell is just amazing but the projection was not it
penguino320
overused and overhated but for a reason, sauvage is just sauvage. an 8/10 for me

A precious scent that majestically succeeds in capturing the essence of both gastric and uric acids

Dior Sauvage is a true masterpiece and no wonder it's the most popular fragrance in the world! It's fresh, clean, a little bit soapy, spicy, slightly citrussy and mass appealing, Sauvage can do any place any time! It's also light and smoky in the air, a very loud fragrance but calm and smooth to the nose. On initial spray you'll get a strong blast of pepper and bergamot, the Sichuan pepper, lavender and pink pepper are blended so smoothly to create a gorgeous sexy spicy and little harsh smell. The Vetiver, I believe gives Sauvage a slight dryness and cloud of smokiness while Ambroxan whips through the base! It's so masculine and elegant however can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I was a little hesitant about Sauvage because almost everyone owns it however the reason it clear. Most women love sauvage, I had a woman at work clawing at my neck to sniff this. To really pull this one off you have to have the right attitude and be polite and mature, otherwise girls think You're an asshole like their ex was haha! Sauvage was the first proper fragrance that I had smelt and noticed on someone else. My uncle has worn Sauvage from the time it was released and he was easily detected rooms away! Sauvage is a true beast and will easily get you 8-10 hours of longevity possibly longer, it fills rooms for at least 2 hours so no more than 5 sprays! Sauvage is definitely worth the money and is a beast to have in your collection, furthermore the bottle is lovely and well made with a strong magnetic cap! Sauvage can hit you with one huge blast but it's not extremely harsh or unpleasant it's just right and that's where the quality shines. I get a similar vibe from Aaron Terence Hughes Odyssey however that fragrance is darker and smells more mature and dressed up. I prefer Sauvage over ADG and BDC EDT. 💪😁

I did it. I finally committed to a bottle. I was... underwhelmed. I think part of this is because it's so overhyped as the "holy grail" of men's fragrances. It's pleasant, but it's almost mediocre. Full review coming soon, but for now I've been let down.
vampireinlovewithscents
After years and years of ignoring this fragrance I finally decided to give it a try in 2024 because I never go for overrated fragrances.
Looking at these reviews on here, either you all have a horrible nose or you’re all just paid & sponsored by Dior for promoting such a disgusting fragrance.
This has to be the worst thing I’ve ever sprayed on myself. Had a headache within a few minutes. This fragrance is a disaster. This is exactly why I stay away from designer stuff because 99% of them are absolutely trash. Boring synthetic headache inducing garbage. I can’t believe this is what you people think is “sexy”. I would rather smell of sweat than smell of Dior sauvage. Imagine wasting hundreds of dollars on this garbage. Save your money and go buy an air freshener from Walmart. It’s the same thing.
Forand
A staple for anyone starting their fragrance journey. The bottle and atomizer will set a precedent of what quality feels like. The juice smells good immediately as it hits your neck. Longevity and sillage are above average. This will be a yardstick to measure against all future fragrances.
FragranceAnon
So, I finally got a bottle of this, and all I can think after looking at this page is, "How can this possibly have a rating under 4.0?"
Seriously, this smells great. Fresh, zesty, masculine.
I over-sprayed one day and stopped by a store when I was out and about. As I finished checking out, the male cashier next to my cashier looked at me and asked, "What's that cologne you're wearing?"
Embarrassed for having over-sprayed, thinking it may have been too much, I laughed and said, "Sauvage... I like to bathe in it sometimes."
"I love it he said." The woman who was checking out in his line looked over and said, "Ooooh, I love it too!"
I considered that a good sign. If you want to smell good, get this. The scent is clean, striking, and projects well. In my opinion, it deserves a higher score.
gl0ry
If you want to smell good, but not unique - this is for you. It is a very good fragrance, but it is overused. 70% of the guys i know use this fragrance. It is very good for an everyday fragrance. Long lasting with good projection and good smell.
PapaTLooch
Always hated Sauvage but this stuff actually ruined my evening recently. I went to a hockey game and a guy sitting in front of me was choking me out with it. The minute I sat down with my wife we were enveloped in a cloud of toxic ambroxan that wouldn’t quit. It’s so abrasive and so obnoxious. I truly can’t understand why it’s so popular. It smells like ammonia, oil paint and nail polish remover. My wife was also suffocating and I started getting a bad headache along with burning sinuses so we decided to move two rows back. The ambroxan is so over the top that it drowns out every other note. It’s one of the few fragrances that I truly loathe. When I got in my car after the game I could literally still smell it on my own shirt. How often can you smell someone else’s perfume on yourself without touching them? Indoor use of Dior Sauvage should be banned. There’s so many other amazing smelling men’s fragrances available so why would anyone wear this crap? It’s so common and so pedestrian. It’s for teenage boys who hang out at the mall trying to pick up girls. If you want to smell like this just buy Axe Body Spray and save yourself the money.
CapitalR
So many rave reviews on YouTube and elsewhere, but to me this smells like a 1980's cologne. With all the praise being bandied about I feel like I fell into an alternate universe.
dsgnerhypebeast
harsh pepper opening that i could personally never enjoy, the settle down is alright but the parfum or elixer are much better options imo
Theorgazoid
Will go down as one of the all time greats in years to come. Do I want to smell like everyone? Who cares I smell good. Not everyone wants a niche fragrance that smells like the baby Jesus's stable.
billnyethefragranceguy
basically the only people who hate on this are the tiktok neeks who say le male le parfum is the best fragrance ever made is it used often yes but its used often for a reason
BigGuadelope
@solobinoy2k you’re a sad little man with your hate for this entire line. Looking through your reviews is a joke. Meanwhile this comment will get taken down by the moderators and all your garbage will stay up. Smh.
Advatra
This comes off as a random mix of the usual bergamot and lavender smelling aroma chemicals, Linalool/Coranol/Linalyl Acetate, with a token heap of Dihydro Myrcenol. The result is a very generic, astringent 80's men's cologne vibe but mellowed with heaps of Iso E Super, Hedione, and Ambroxan.
colin72
To all of you who hate this and think it's generic and nothing special, PLEASE don't change your mind. Keep hating it and I'll wear it and get all the compliments.
ScottyVizz
This community has become very jaded. It's as if Dior has never come out with an ordinary fragrance before (Higher Energy anyone?).
The scent isn't terrible, in fact it's relatively pleasant. I certainly wouldn't buy it, but I'm not going to kick and scream accusing Dior of cheating its consumers. It's a pleasant smell and lasts a good 8 hours. Very crowd pleasing, in the crossfire of Fierce and L'Homme Libre.
I think this community needs to calm down. This isn't the beginning of the end for the Dior house. Not every release is going to be a masterpiece. Cool your jets people. Dior still has a wide range of beautiful creations that are available in most department stores and online retailers.
TjSmellsGood
I'm surprised to see so many loving comments of Sauvage on here, not because it's bad but because it's become popular to hate it. I remember before it became super popular as the go-to scent, everyone loved it. Suddenly now that it's popular you'll find self proclaimed gurus telling you how it's mediocre in a video about how to get chicks by wearing suits and cologne. Don't be swayed, Sauvage is a great scent. It's strong without being overwhelming. It's spicy, citrusy, and a little smokey. Definitely a sophisticated, formal kind of scent. There's a reason it's a top pick for guys trying to impress their dates, it's because it's welcoming and confidence inspiring. A bit pricey but nothing too unreasonable. I'm on my second bottle after years because it doesn't take much. 2 sprays will do ya for the day.

OK, so after reading all the shameless scathing thrown @ Dior's latest offering, I had to make a visit to my local stockist to sample what all the fuss was(n't) about.
I did the obligatory card-test first which came out as quite a strong, heavy, in-your-face blast of pepper with a hefty dose of aldehydes to boot. I then walked around the store before returning, to offer my neck and wrists a spray. I left the store and went about my business of doing some shopping.
Two hours later, the smell remained heavy on me with very good projection.
Three hours later, still no signs of letting go, this fragrance lost none of the original smell and followed me around like a stalker. Each time I turned my head, I could smell it wafting by.
Some time later on my way home as I was stood waiting for the train doors to open, the lady aside me asked: "Is it you who smells nice?" I beckoned her towards my neck to sniff. Her reply: "Yes, it's you, that's beautiful, what is it?".
An hour later buying a drink in a bar, the barman said: "You smell fresh, what are you wearing?"; before I had the chance to reply, another guy standing next to me said: "I wanted to ask the same question but was too shy".
Not one but three compliments on Sauvage within as many hours. That's most definitely a first for me. I've never been complimented more than once in a week let alone a day regarding any fragrance I'm wearing.
So, although my conclusion leaves me to say that this is by no means the best Dior fragrance I have had the pleasure to wear, I don't find it offensive in the slightest. Six hours later it's still smelling pretty strong on me, and, with (three) random strangers seemingly smitten by it, I think it will become a great seller for Dior.
thehollowaytape
There is nothing wrong with this fragrance. You guys expecting every Dior release to be an iconic legend need to get off your high horse. Did Dior come steal your precious vintage Fahrenheit or Dior Homme Intense and replace it with Sauvage? No. Those other fragrances are still there. Go enjoy them and quit treating Fragrantica like reddit and bringing in the downvote brigade. I don't see anyone complaining about the other Dior men's fragrances that weren't ridiculously amazing (Jules, Higher, Dune).
Anyway. This is a nice smelling, clean, fresh fragrance. Dior has a winner with this one, I can see it easily becoming a best seller. I know Dior believes this, too. I don't think they'd pony up for Depp if they didn't. It DOESN'T smell like Bleu de Chanel. (Which, by the way, everyone said was boring/sucked and is now one of the most recommended fragrances for guys who want just one.) It smells like citrus, spicy woods, and a touch of a musky character from the ambroxan. I put this on almost 8 hours ago and can still smell it well.
Bottom line. Smell it for yourself. You might actually like it. If you don't... well hey, more for me.
Buysblind
Mediocre in every sense of the word. Sauvage opens with an abrasive, chemical interpretation of bergamot that's sweet and mildly pleasant. It transitions after about 10 or 15 minutes into a peppery dryer-sheet musk that is completely flat and linear and feels even more synthetic than the opening. I guess that's the ambroxan with some pepper added to it. Projection is solid and the longevity is around 6 to 8 hours.
I disagree with anyone suggesting that Sauvage is of a better quality than the average designer fragrance on the market, at least as far as the ones in Sephora or Macy's are concerned. It's not. It smells cheaply made and totally insubstantial save for whatever overdose of synthetic fixatives keep it alive. In comparison to Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage is vastly inferior. At least Bleu has some dimension and structure. It has development and solid, robust ingredients. Sauvage is absolutely anemic aside from its caustic, searing chemical edge which seems to provide its only strength. The only positive thing I have to say about it is that the smell itself is not bad--it's not unpleasant as a scent. But what's that really saying? Scent is subjective in that regard, so really anything can be "nice" or pleasant. Cleaning products are pleasant too. So are Glade Plug-Ins and those little trees people hang from their rearview mirror. Fabuloso smells great. And that's more or less what Sauvage has successfully replicated--your basic air freshener--vaguely representing all things common in men's cologne over the last 10 years. I've worn Sauvage 7 times, searching for any redeeming qualities it might possess and other than its inoffensiveness, and the fact that I kind of like the way ambroxan smells, I have found none. What's crazy to me is a lot of the people complaining over and over again about "another generic woody-amber" somehow give Sauvage a pass. Really?
I'm not a fragrance snob or niche elitist or whatever other accusatory labels are getting thrown around to try and invalidate contrary opinions. My favorite release of the year was probably CK Reveal Men. Yet again and again I hear the same old argument, "...but this fragrance is made for the average guy, it's not for the perfumistas and enthusiasts." Well, no shit. And the average guy deserves better than this hollow, chemical dreck that wears as if it should cost $20 instead of $90, and can't hold a candle to its competition. Compliments? Who cares. Wear anything that leaves a solid trail and doesn't smell like you stepped out of a time warp or a horse stable and you WILL receive compliments. So you might as well pick up something decent while you're at it. Not this crap. Save your money.
Thumbs down.

I don't know where to start with Sauvage.
For unknown reasons, I really wanted to like it. There's something about most Dior's mainstream masculines that's never *too banal* or *too cheap* and, on top of that, the association between the words Dior and Sauvage must have played some mental tricks on me and made me think about Roudnitska's classic Eau Sauvage. Ok, we all know this is not an Eau Sauvage flanker and as a new, massively advertised, delivery from Dior, I thought I couldn't have skipped it.
For starters, this is not as bad as I expected. It's not even as bad as a rushed test might lead to think….but it's bad anyway in the end.
I won't go through a proper note breakdown because there's really not much to mention here. The opening it's the most generic peppery-citrus combo you could expect from a whatever modern woody-citrus fragrance. Slightly aromatic, zingy and metallic. The first hour in, I was really this close to dismiss it but then a smooth mineral amber base (ambroxan) broke in together with vetiver and things slightly changed. The fragrance plays in the same league as other *depersonalizing*, post-disinfectant fragrances such as Bleu de Chanel, Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal and before these, D&G Light Blue Pour Homme and L'Eau D'Issey but it takes the distance from the aforementioned perfumes by skipping that certain synth-y stickiness and / or loud volume that made all of them completely annoying to me. The Dior has a certain *raison d'être* provided by an elegant restraint and a class that is completely missing in most similar fragrances available on the market. It wears smooth and velvety with nice dark-ish facets in the base. It's extremely simple but, at least, they got right one of the two accords from which it is composed.
Do I like it? Let's put it this way: It doesn't completely suck. In the end, while I surely believe Sauvage is by far the best fragrance in this post Bleu De Chanel-phase, I still wonder if we really needed a post Bleu De Chanel phase. It feels deprived of any emotional aspect but not in a creative kind of way. It's unemotional without that certain sparkle that makes the difference between the words *aseptic* and *aloof*. It feels devoided. It's carb free, gluten free, peanut free, allergens free…it's too politically correct. Ok, it's well done but for me it's not enough and, in the end, I guess it's just another fragrance for people who actually don't like fragrances.
Last but not least, I'm not the biggest fan of the Dior Homme saga but compared to this, they're completely on another level. Like completely.

This is a review from victim's perspective. Means I have co-worker wearing this almost daily and it is just so vile. What a synthetic mess, it smells just LOUD, screaming "I am here! I smell!" - it's not even trying to be aquatic, ocean-shower-fresh, green, woody or floral. Sauvage is just in-your-face aroma chemicals.
Dior, you can and you have done a lot better than this!
Chiru
Hm... not really feeling this one guys. A frustrating fragrance in that it smells very synthetic, quite cosmetic and mall-like, and given the hype I was expecting a lot more. A very boring fragrance for the man with a perfect smile. It smells "perfect" but not in a good way. This is very much a modern male fragrance for modern males in the work setting, with no differentiating characteristics. Very machine-like and fake. It's hard to explain. I hope at least someone gets this reference... I know it's stupid, but it's pretty damn accurate:
Remember that Spongebob episode where squidward wishes spongebob wasn't so goofy, and was more of a man's man agreeable neighbour? And spongebob becomes all rounded instead of square, is shiny and boring, but pleasant and agreeable, and also like every other typical guy? He just repeats "Hi, how are ya?" and seems fake? That's who I picture wearing this fragrance. Shallow, agreeable, boring yes-man guys in a suit at the office that smile at you and wave when you park your car up your driveway. About as multifaceted as a piece of paper and about as deep as a yogurt lid.
It's just a generic, soapy department store kinda fragrance. Extremely safe, powdery, flowery, peppery and bright. I don't get the hype on this one. And I'm pretty open minded. I'm no snob who won't touch designer mainstream perfumes just because I think I'm some enlightened fellow who only sniffs interesting scents for interesting people. It just really is a boring scent, plain and simple. I know my review sounds bad, but it's not a -bad- scent per se. It's just... lacking anything to make it stand out. I'd pay maybe $40-50 for this scent. Maybe? But the asking price for this scent is absolutely insane for what it brings to the table. I have to echo what others are saying. It smells quite a bit like Bleu De Chanel, mixed with some peppery flowers and soapy powder. Perhaps people only like it because women seem to like it on men. It does have that fresh out of shower smell afterall. Thing is, every guy and their grandad wears this stuff, so for a perfume that everybody wears, it loses even more points towards purchasing it for me. How ironic that every guy wears a fragrance that just screams "every guy" in the first place. To each their own.
I'm glad I tried this first and didn't spend the asking price for this perfume. A disappointment. Gosh, it really does just smell like hotel soap, lol. Really, this stuff smells like if you got a bar of cheap Irish Spring soap and sprayed a bit of Bleu De Chanel on it. I mean I like it, please don't get me wrong, it's a very nice scent, and it does have good longevity, but at this price? And this boring? Nah. Want a typical soapy clean scent? Mugler Cologne is a lot cheaper to find and smells pretty decent. Want a subtle flowery work scent? Try Prada L'Homme which is incredible. Honestly there's just so many better options as far as soapy clean scents go that don't cost over $100 and have you smelling like every other guy. Try before you buy. All scents are subjective. You may love this. I'll repeat myself here, I would buy this scent at a discounted price. The drydown is pretty good, better than the opening for damn sure, but not great. If this was like $50 or lower, I'd absolutely get it. But no way in hell for the asking price right now.
And another thing! How odd they called this "Sauvage". There's nothing "sauvage" about this in any stretch of the imagination. See that picture of Johhny Depp in the pictures section for this fragrance? Even he's making a "the fuck is this shit? sauvage? are you serious?" kinda face as he stares at the big white lettering of "Sauvage".
Scent: 6/10, good drydown though.
Silage: 7/10
Longevity:8/10
Personal Appreciation: 6/10

Air fresheners, deodorants, shower gels, shampoos, washing powder and fabric softeners have been creeping inexorably towards the world of designer perfume for years now and share many of the same aroma chemicals. Now it's the turn of some modern perfumes to step backwards and meet those household products on the centre ground.
Sauvage is one such example. It is spectacularly ugly on first spray with a nauseating blast of laundry musk - akin to removing the lid from a bottle of fabric softener and poking your nose inside. This is then followed by the over- familiar and nebulous smell of air-freshener and supermarket body spray.
It WILL register 'clean' for the men and women who associate laundry musk with clean floors, clean clothes and clean bathrooms but to many perfume fans this will also represent a disastrous lowering of standards from a well respected company that have brought us some superb products in the past.
