Allure Homme by Chanel is a Amber Woody fragrance for men. Allure Homme was launched in 1999. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Polge. Top notes are Lemon, Peach, Ginger, Mandarin Orange, Lavender and Bergamot; middle notes are Pepper, Cedar, Patchouli, Vetiver, Brazilian Rosewood, Rose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Freesia and Anise; base notes are Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Coconut, Amber, Benzoin, Musk, Leather and Oakmoss.

His allure, or pace, is determined, but lightsome. The composition is created of four main fragrant lines: green freshness, warm sharpness of pepper, strength and elegance of wood, and warm sensuality of labdanum, and tonka. None of these main lines can be sensed separately, together they create a harmonious whole. The top notes are mandarin, lemon, peach and bergamot; middle notes – freesia, geranium, rose and jasmine, and in the base – benzoin, tonka, sandalwood and vanilla. The perfume was created by famous Jacques Polge and launched in 1999.

This review is for the current formulation bought direct from the Chanel website.

I wasn’t sure what to expect here. I think I was anticipating sweet, syrupy, possibly a little boozy and I was largely wrong.

This fragrance is not a gourmand but it dances precariously close to the edge of being one. Likewise the sweetness is there but it doesn’t stray into sickly territory (Givenchy Pi or Jaipur Homme being examples of this). It is restrained but gives enough to provide that sense of “allure”. It's certainly aptly named!

There is absolutely a hint of Estée Lauder’s discontinued Intuition for Men about this fragrance but the Chanel is done to a higher standard and less…..bubblegummy (look Ma I done made a word).

I’m pleased with this addition to my collection. It is a beautifully done affair though I don’t doubt previous formulations carried a bit more magic - such is the world of fragrance these days.

I'd have to agree that this is a great dumb-reach choice. Regardless of the setting and regardless of your age, this will do very nicely for you.

I did spray this on in the evening after I'd showered - waking up the following morning I could still smell it on my skin. Longevity isn't therefore a problem for me.

There is something about Chanel perfumery that I just can't quit. Their overall DNA has always drawn me in, be it Egoiste, Allure, Bleu, etc. This was my signature wear for years and I still find it "alluring" for all the right reasons. It's light, sweet, airy and savory... it wears close to the skin and wraps you in spicy ginger florals. It's great year round day or night, office or play and the wife adores it - which is enough for me. Could it be stronger? I suppose... but sometimes a solid skin scent is all you need. 10/10

Like here if you'd like to see an intensified version of the iconic Allure Homme, aptly named Allure Homme Intense, in the future. It would be a dream come true!

anikek

10/10, shame about the longevity. Best Allure Homme fragrance, probably the best Chanel as well. Easy to wear, uplifting, can be worn anytime of the year except very high heats like 40 C. Classy, good, well priced. Very underrated

PhonePotato

Big love and the best of the line. There’s a lot going on in this, so maybe some folks can find it overwhelming or too busy in the opening but once it settles down it’s fantastic.
Dries down to a warm and bright amber fragrance, not too heavy or too sweet. The citrus and fruity elements stay with it till the dry down. This is long lasting overall, the ambery elements stick around all day but after 5 hours it sits very close and just gives off this warm airy bubble.
Very versatile; day or night, any season, most any occasion (but not sporty), and any age.

GLuv-85

This is an almost love for me. Smooth creamy sweet (but not gourmandish) and slightly woody.

It’s not a loud nor heavy projector, but essentially for me this is more in tune with what I want in an office fragrance. Enough punch to start a conversation, but not enough to have people complain you’re choking them out.

Although I haven’t seen the comparison made, I almost feel this could be the successful grandad to Bonds Lafayette or to a lesser degree Dunhill Desire Red. Sweet but still wearable and fresh.

Will be keeping this in my rotation.

edstyler

When they say it can’t be stronger, or it would be different, etc… Actually, why can’t it be stronger? It’s easy for Chanel also; just put 25% of the essential oil formula instead of 8% and put the name Elixir. I would pay a higher price for this, no problem, and I think many AH lovers would too.

pilotdc

An aptly named fragrance. A lot of things blended here so it's hard to even pinpoint the scent profile, but that's what makes it alluring... you're like, what is this I'm smelling, so it makes you want more. It has that something in there that scents from the 90s had in common, so if modern is what you're going for, this isn't it. But it is sophisticated, warm, and sexy.
Unfortunately, it's gone in under 4 hours.

stevebayerin

Okay for respect. Seems to suit an office atmosphere. Doesn't really impress the ladies like BDC EDP or AHSEE.

AHSEE is more of a t-shirt fragrance and ladies like it while OG Allure Homme is more of a formal wear fragance but does not really appeal to the ladies. OG Allure Homme however is more likely to get favors done from males than AHSEE.

Trying out Allure Homme Edition Blanche next to see if I should get a bottle of that or OG Allure Homme to complement my bottle of BDC EDP.

anikek

This is the best Chanel fragrance, too bad it doesn't last longer.

JamesPawn

smells like very nice fresh lemons but it was gone in like 2 hours

edit tried again around 8 sprays a week later at macys &
i got no fresh lemons it was weak and basically a nothing fragrance a total waste of money . thank goodness i didnt buy it off ebay first and went back to test again its crap and not worth buying . maybe the fresh lemons was another fragrance i tested . current day allure is a total disappointment in my opinion

Piggy41510

This fragrance is awesome!! Wore this classic scent today and I must say it's a big love for me💓. I have a 3.4 oz bottle that I purchased at the Chanel boutique in San Jose but I regret not getting the 5.oz!! That's how good this fragrance is to me and the dry down is to die for. And it does have an alluring quality to it that I can't deny because this fragrance whispers and doesn't yell!! The suttelness of this fragrance is what I can appreciate about this fragrance, so for me I don't have performance issues or longevity issues out of this fragrance.

Subhuman

This smells like a smoother and classier version of something I would have worn in my '90s-'00s youth, in the best way. It's certainly weathered the passage of time better than the Tommy and Eternity I actually wore; those feel wan and emaciated now, while Allure Homme has some meat on its bones and a spring in its step. There's a velvety, woody, slightly green sweetness to it that feels very "gentle '90s", ecru in fragrance form, and I kinda love it. (Also, I keep smelling the far drydown of Allure Sensuelle when I spray it on. Is that the patchouli/vanilla combo? It lends a slight unisex edge to an otherwise straight-ahead masculine scent. Oddly compelling.) No, this kind of thing won't rock the world, but it's satisfying and versatile in a way that can be unfortunately overlooked. Sometimes you just want to smell good without too much thought or energy, and Allure Homme does just that without being boring. The random whiffs I get throughout its wear time put a smile on my face. I'm glad Chanel still makes this stuff, and that it's still worth buying. Millennials rejoice!

dmgaskell

Absolutely beautiful, fresh, juicy yet light and elegant. For me, let down by the performance. Skin scent after an hour or so.

coonhound

First Pass - Floral. Citrusy, especially grapefruit.

1 Hour Later - Citrus is growing. More lemon than grapefruit now. A little fruity, and hints of a distracting note I can’t place

2 Hours Later - Citrus is still strong and this is quite crisp. A little sweeter. A little musky. Some powder

3-4 Hours Later - Strong powder now, a dead heat with the citrus

Overall - Fans of MontBlanc Starwalker and Jimmy Choo Man Ice, both of which I have reviewed separately, will find a lot to like here.

Allure Homme heads in the same direction but ends up in a new place. Not as sweet as Starwalker, not as earthy/grassy from the vetiver in Man Ice, this softens into a powdery floral note.

While I enjoyed the beginning, especially what smelled like grapefruit to me, I found the ending a little feminine for my taste.

***Scents, like tastes, are subjective. Wear what you like***

d1fferen7

Got this as a decant with the purchase of my Bleu De Chanel EDP from Chanel's website.

Allure Homme is a really fresh and sweet fragrance. I think I'd purchase it. Lovely scent.

NPC_73293721

This is such a sexy fragrance. It’s subtle, as elegant things usually are. It’s akin to a modestly-dressed woman with natural beauty, whereas the “beast mode” fragrances that are so popular nowadays are more like scantily-clad tramps with smeared lipstick and cigarette breath. 💀

hc123

Don't know how exactly to describe this as there is so much GOOD going on. Have tried almost the entire Allure line and found them baby powder with some citrus, this one is just so much more. Great opening and drydown that smells niche quality longevity like the entire Allure line is disappointing.

Bizzy1995

Fresh citrus in the opening, primarily lemon then bergamot. As dry downs it is a literal masterpiece imo. The floral notes mixed with the rosewood is beautiful and the sweet base notes of vanilla Tonka benzoin and the hint of coconut add a intoxicating sweetness to this which is complemented by the creaminess sandalwood

10/10

This is yet another masterpiece from the GOAT, Jacques Polge. I’m always amazed at how he was able to constantly reinvent and set the trends at Chanel. From Antaeus all the way through BdC, so many of his perfumes set the standard for the entire industry in their era.

This is, as many of his works are, a timeless scent. The combination of fresh citrus, fruits, and clean musks juxtaposed again warm spices, leather, and resins creates a scent that on paper shouldn’t work. The reality is, however, that it works extremely well and creates a scent that is just as the name suggests: alluring. Women love this scent, and it’s just as appropriate in a suit and tie as it is in a white t-shirt and jeans. If you have heard negative things about this one I urge you to go to your local department store and try it for yourself. This is one of my favorite designers ever, and is probably the one I have worn most over the years.

Piggy41510

This fragrance is remarkable ❤️, Jacques Polge did his thang with this fragrance. If you want a classic fragrance that it timeless then I recommend Allure Homme!! I'm so happy I ignored all the negatives that I heard about this fragrance!! Longevity and progection varies from person to person but on my skin it's great. This fragrance can be worn dressed up or down and it fits in most situations, work, church, school, gym. This is a 10/10 for me and I will give this fragrance the title of masterpiece!!! Don't listen to all the negatives about this fragrance just go out and try it for yourself and thank me later 😎.

Jqwalls

This is a great, timeless fragrance. It has a sweetness that is still masculine - not like all the clubbing fragrances sweetness. There is also such a beautiful complexity to this fragrance giving it so many different vibes to pick up on while still being masterfully blended and cohesive. A fragrance for a gentleman. If you don’t mind that it is not the strongest performer then definitely check this out. Btw the sport version doesn’t smell as good as this one so do yourself a favor and check out this og. 9/10

and_then_some_7

Ah yes, the Swiss Army Knife of my collection. Can be worn in fall/winter/spring. Women enjoy it, men tolerate it.
Chanel Allure Homme and Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme are two of the safest and most enjoyable fragrances in my arsenal.

All Chanel Allure Homme fragrances are better than BDC. Facts

DapperDon

My 2nd review of this classic.
This is for the ALL OVER SPRAY:

Much, much, much more creamier than the cologne. The notes are better blended & work as one. Has a smoothness like in Eau Extreme. The peach, lavender & rosewood are prominent & smoother than a baby seal. Clean, Multi-occasion & year round frag.

I like Allure Homme, but find myself bored of the scent in 2hrs.
Last 5hrs on me.. The last hour I was intrigued again.

frafilipo

Very nice and comforting dry down when applied to hair. Musk is wonderfuly done.

frankincense&myrrh

'Allure' ... a French word for 'speed', 'pace or gait', and/or 'look' (as in aspect or air), 'bearing'.

Youthful but staid.
Enticing but tedious.
Delicious and dull.
Beautiful and boring.
So congenial. So tasteful.
I forgot about it for 25 years.

ALLURE is a curious blend of confusing paradoxes.
Summer masquerading as Winter; it knows not what it is.
The quality is evident and the longevity is last century, though the sillage is skin scent nearly from the go. And so finely tuned it's almost mediocre, if that makes sense. Somehow it seems to be a victim of its own balancing act. I do appreciate this accomplishment - it's impressive. And sad.
Because deep inside this beige beau there's a tremendous, unfulfilled potential which promises so much that never comes to fruition. ELLUSIVE strikes me as a more apropos moniker.

Oddly enough, though of inferior feel and 'allure' itself, I'm reminded of YSL L'homme, which clearly took inspiration here and yet, somehow, succeeded at being more fun, memorable, and relavent in its day.
Would I wear L'homme again as I avidly did in 2007〜2010? No.
That time - not to mention that me - is past.
Is the quirky forgotten mystery of my year 2000 bottle of ALLURE suddenly making me feel old? Yes.
But maybe that's not a bad thing.
Maybe we all need a tasteful beige middle-age contemplative quiet fume at some point along the way. I'm willing to listen.

Seems ALLURE is ultimately many things and deceptively simple in its pace and bearing. Perhaps after a quarter century I've slowed down enough to appreciate its perplexing, gentle air?
Can't say I'd go out and pay 2024 prices for a new bottle, though, so I'm grateful my old one got lost in the shuffle and waited for me.

Iconic eternal timeless best of top 10 fragrance of all time! :)

For those days when you dress the most beautiful and the best - what your wardrobe have&holds!
When you put on a watch from the collection for special occasions.. A model that is not the most familiar to everyone - but only to you and others like you, who are really connoisseurs...

Then, for the cherry on top of the cake, this classic - beautiful enough for everyone, good and mysterious enough that most will be absolutely delighted by the smell - but at the same time, heaven has no idea what you have!
After the end of the evening, in addition to compliments, it will surely remain in the fond memory of everyone who has smelled it on you!

The other Allures are good - but this original first one has this eternal beautiful impression and soul!

Carrolllaw

First, I’m not a huge fan of AH Sport. But this original, despite being 25 years old, is like a favorite tshirt for me. Cozy, comforting and all-around pleasant. I put it on this morning, about 6 1/2 hours ago, and it’s mostly down to a skin scent, but with certain movements, I’ll catch a little whiff. Great office scent. I really like it.

Shalva

Unmistakable class and high quality all the way, both in the smell and in the feel this one creates, a piece of art that lends it's awesome qualities to you by wearing it.

JupiterMoon

Very impressed with this. The opening has a strong ginger. The dry-down is great. Unique and understated. One of the best mid-priced colognes I've tried lately. Not incredibly strong but I do detect it throughout the day.

micholas

I’ve owned this fragrance on and off since its release. Absolutely beautiful fragrance which for me doesn't get as much rotation as it should do. The only difference over the years in the 3-4 bottles I’ve owned is probably the slowly declining performance. The original was never a beast mode fragrance, but it was enough for people to smell and compliment. However like most Chanel’s these days Allure Homme suffers from very poor sillage.. and this is probably why I don’t wear it very much anymore. Such a shame that all the greats from my younger days seem to have all been diluted. Anyway beautiful fragrance even if it’s only you that can smell it.

Piggy41510

Finally picked up this classic fragrance today!! This fragrance is really nice and I'm very proud to have it in my collection. The opening of this fragrance is great and the dry down is to die for❤️ sweet, creamy ,woody fragrance that is classic Chanel!! No this fragrance is not a room filler but it's an awesome up close and personal fragrance that definitely has that Allure 👍🏾. Happy New year to all the fragrance fanatics.

Scilletok

This is the first fragrance I ever sampled and bought in the same day. Gorgeous hidden gem.

Raul Claudiu

Xerjoff tried to recreate this DNA with Uden, MFK with Amyris but they got nothing on this masterpiece. After all those years Allure Homme is still so beautiful.

Piggy41510

This smells really nice 🙂 I sampled this at the Chanel boutique and I really appreciate the opening and the dry down of this fragrance. I'm aware that this fragrance was launched in 1999 the year my son was born but I never smelled it back then to compare with today's formulation but I still love this scent. Creamy, sweet, classy dry down that's not loud at all!! I have to go back and ad this to my collection ❤️ 9/10 for me.

Smellybutgood

It's disheartening to see the often-overlooked Allure Homme 1999 fade into obscurity. Yet, this fragrance, with its exceptional qualities, deserves a moment of recognition.

It's the olfactory manifestation of a "go-getter," exuding positive energy that empowers the wearer to feel capable of conquering anything. A symphony of crispness, warmth, and sensuality, Allure Homme embodies a man's charisma and inner strength through its fresh, spicy, and woody composition.

Versatility is the silent strength of Allure Homme, gracefully transitioning from formal occasions to casual settings. It avoids being overpowering, leaving a subtle trail that captivates without offense. In the world of fragrances, groundbreaking isn't the sole criterion for greatness, and Allure Homme stands as a testament to this truth.

Allure Homme starts with a lively mix of herbal mandarin and lavender, with a touch of brown sugar. It feels refreshing at first but then turns into a confident scent as tonka and a hint of vanilla add a creamy touch. Over time, a gentle pepper note joins in, along with a softened, sweetened patchouli. It transcends age categories, catering to any man seeking a clean, fresh, and undeniably fantastic scent.

In the grand narrative of Chanel's fragrance legacy, Allure Homme 1999 may have been overshadowed, but its enduring charm remains a testament to its brilliance—a true masterpiece fragrance.

Let_it_be

When Allure Homme was launched in the late 90s, it was marketed as a fragrance with 6 facets - like a crystal. It is citrus, green, spicy, woody, floral and oriental all at the same time. This fragrance took Chanel many years to develop and it was created by Jacques Polge on a Greek island owned by Chanel.

Allure Homme aged well, it is still alluring after all these years. A close cousin is Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme, both have the same character - elegant and romantic with a sweet and creamy smell. Try it if you like Allure.

Alexey Fisher

It's masterpiece!!! I love it!! Timeless!!!

ADAMDICKSON711

A beautiful and truly underrated fragrance. Smells like pure class and extremely enjoyable to wear as it changes throughout the day. Would love a stronger EDP version with a little more projection. However, it's still a wonderful fragrance that I would recommend.

My favorite perfume

clintjr82

Indisputed classic. Top 20 best mens scent ever. I have the original early batches around 2000 - 2004 and a dupe extrait which the dupe is better, less synthetic. No questions, get it, a great blind buy for the ones who never experienced.

dayonee

2nd review:
Finally got myself a bottle after trying it a few times at the store. Very smooth, creamy and juicy but mildly warm at the same time. Classy and elegant would be the words to describe it. Office safe. Great all season versatility, but would shine the best in the fall and spring. No regret full bottle buy. Highly recommended.

rmnnnnn

This is the best scent profile of all the Chanel Allures out there. Does it last long? No. Does it project heavily? No. But it's the most incredible scent I've ever smelled and even with a collection full of more expensive niche perfumes, I'm always more than happy to spray this one. Super versatile, can wear it anytime anywhere.

JDperfumelover

This is Chanel at its best… classy and beautiful, you want a blind buy that you will love? This is it… I used to smell this in the early 2000’s when my dad wore it to work and man was it beautiful, it would last him all day, he would come home and still smell of the this beauty. It took me a while to pick it back up for some reason, but I’m glad I did. Sillage, projection isn’t everything, and this is proof that you don’t always need that. I will probably buy this for many years to come, class in a bottle.

sebadancer

Just bought a 150ml after a few years of not owning it. I went through a few bottles over the years. I've experienced all the reformulation too.
Is it as strong as my 2005 bottle? No.
Is it still worth full retail? For 135€/150ml, absolutely!

If it doesn't last all day, respray!
(I have a mini 5ml spray for each of my fragrances. I advise everyone to do the same. Spray in the morning from the big bottle and take the mini in your pocket. Those empty mini sprays cost nothing on Amazon).

This smell is so likeable and classy.
The perfect scent when I don't want to think twice about what to wear. Dumb reach they say. But a very sofisticated one. Fits every weather, every occasion. From a gym session to a wedding. From a dinner with my parents to a torid date night.

Yes, yes, yes!

rlgon

Wearing this beauty today. This smells very masculine, inviting, warm, classic.
I think it is slightly overpriced because of sillage and longevity, for sure.

I would like to get AHSEE but I feel guilty, like I'm betraying this one.

Definitely a mature scent.

DYNABLASTER77

Very nice scent, maybe even too nice :) Creamy woods, smooth and perfectly sweetened. It seems that this scent was the base for Sauvage edp but with fruits amped to the max.

It's quality, projects good and last for at least 6 hours, don't let the tales of how it's weak scare you off, it's not true, it behaves perfectly good, better than many other designer and niche fragrances.

8/10

DapperDon

Newer batches are a shadow of what this fragrance truly is. I still use the aftershave & it’s better than the current edt. After 1hr i start to smell the semi-sweet almost gourmand dry down of Allure Homme Sport weaving throughout.. it’s like the uncle of the sport flanker.
Fragrance is not dated, but still retains a classy touch. A smooth & peaceful scent 🤤

CHANEL ALLURE
8/27/23

Bought my bottle from Macy's in 2022. First 6 months, I only got about 3-4 hours longevity. After 1.5 years now...it has jumped to 5-6 hours longevity. I am guilty of accusing almost all colognes of being thin or weak from day one...but over time they all age and get stronger. Just part of its lifecycle. Just keep it out of light, heat, and bathroom...and it will do it's thing and age nicely. An absolute beauty! Fantastic scent!!

My son just started freshman year college. He will be getting his own bottle when he graduates.

fragrance_fb

This is an all time classic. Timeless, elegant, masculine.

You can wear it at any season, for any occasion and with every outift.

Pure class in a bottle.

If you want to smell good, wear the OG Chanel Allure Homme.

radekk

All important has been already said. Only I´m bit disappointed with the perfomance and longetivitiy these days. But still love this juice, timeless creation:-)

daclevan

It’s lit. Chanel Allure Homme is creamy with a touch of fruit, but there’s a slight woody spice underneath— just the right amount. There’s absolutely nothing here that can offend anyone. Yes, it’s safe. It doesn’t challenge you or anyone else. You don’t have to wrestle your brain to figure out if you’re smelling a barnyard or a magical forest at night. You just smell really good when you wear it.

You can overspray this and be fine. I spray 5-6 times in the summer and it smells great for 2 or 3 hours, but after that it fades a bit. During those 2-3 hours, I get pretty good projection and sillage (not beast mode by any stretch of the imagination), but by the time we get closer to 5-6 hours it is almost not even a skin scent anymore.

For context, I didn’t enjoy the Sport or Sport Eau Extreme— from which I perceive a lot of similarity to Versace Pour Homme. I like this type of sweet scent much more than, say, Dyptique’s Eau Duelle— which for me devolved very quickly into a flowery vanilla whereas this one is creamier and deeper. Despite the sweetness, it isn’t cloying even in severe heat (I live in a high heat and high humidity part of the US). I really think this scent works day or night, any day of the year.

If you like softer, easier scents and don’t mind the somewhat weaker performance for the price, you’ll be fine here. I love this scent.

JusttheFactsMan

#171 in my "Tour de Fragrance". I got this sample after hearing about it from a college-age fragrance connoisseur, the son of a woman who spent a decade in the fragrance business in South Korea. For a young man, like his mother, his knowledge of fragrances is wide and deep, and he flagged this one as what he would consider a good choice for my age and style, except for its disappointingly weak longevity, and I can now confirm he was right on both counts.

Allure Homme is sophisticated and white collar, but not pretentiously so. The citrus and vanilla opening prevent it smelling dated but are not so strong they smell like a twenty-something intern, and this is nowhere near being a sweet gourmand scent, which I believe is inappropriate in any business setting. If it were more enduring it might occasionally replace Prada Homme as my go-to scent for consulting gigs, where it could fill in without seeming completely out of place, but it's just too feeble for me to bother with.

That's my disqualifying criticism of Allure Homme, in that, like Bleu de Chanel, this scent is impotent. It would be fine for a short dinner meeting, but an hour in it's a skin scent and the projection is middling to begin with. It won't be detectible to anyone by mid-morning coffee break.

If this were a $30 scent with no worries about wasting it, and they had to hit a couple of refresher sprays during the day, I know some would be content with it. At $30 a bottle I'd be tempted, but that's a hassle I don't want at $90+ a bottle. So, while it's a very likeable fragrance while it lasts, it doesn't, and for that reason I won't be purchasing this one and recommend you keep shopping.

I'll be testing Allure Homme Sport tomorrow for comparison.

jjjooonnn

This one is heavy enough that on its own, I'd only use it for (in cooler weather) date nights.

It goes great layered with Club de Nuit Intense Man!

DasParfum1907

A classy scent. A solid combination of sweet vanilla notes and citrus. I had hoped for a coconut version of this in Hugo Boss Pacific as well, but it just didn't reach that level. First a hard citrus opening, then a smooth sweet transition and a creamy peach state. Then travel towards woody notes. This perfume is truly among the best in history.

Hamdii

This is a nice airy cream peach smell. Can’t wait for the colder weathers to wear this.
It’s a tad bit of a soft fragrance, not much presence.

bubbaIRL

For some reason this one evokes feelings of nostalgia. Very elegant. This and YSL Lhomme are similar stories but this has much better performance and this has more depth. The peach note is amazing in this. A scent for a gentleman. Very handsome fragrance.

fragrantlyenhanced

pffft so fuckin good. creamy peachy, really airy. soft and gentle. lots goin on just try it. really complex but im dying from the inside that this doesnt last. its always the same thing sadly with the allure line. just over spray getting whiffs of this in the air on makes you happy and everyone around you happy. id consider this a ''perfect first impression'' scent. out of all the frags in the allure line the og suits the name the most.

Kaos_213

This one is very special, very classy, beautifully crafted and rich smelling aromatic fragrance. This scent starts off with a gorgeous citrus blast then dries down to what I love the most about the Allure line, the tonka bean dry down smells gorgeous on most of these Allure fragrances, I mostly smell a sweet vanilla tonka bean dry down on this one. Projection may not be considered "beast mode” but, it does have lasting power on my skin. I imagine everyone’s skin chemistry reacts differently to every fragrance. Apply generously after a shower on skin and clothes to get the most out of this fragrance. A timeless classic.

Dear Chanel Allure Homme...
I'm writing you a letter of thanks for the sophistication! You smell better than your brothers and sisters and surely not enough people know you out there! Most of them praise Allure Sport and Extreme, hardly anyone remembers you.. Although you're from 99, you still smell absolutely perfect and divine! You don't know the word obsolescence, and Jacques Polge used your characteristic DNA to build a strong backbone for the other flankers! Hardly anyone recognizes you from your skin, but everyone loves you.Fortunately, you choose the user - not he chooses you.. For younger people, you are unnoticed and almost invisible.Because you are made for a much more sophisticated nose, to appreciate you to the smallest detail! Creamy peach, coconut, citrus, vanilla all together a really well blended scent - Class without time! You are waiting for a buyer who begins to appreciate structure and art over the years and only then you betray your charm! The only minor complaint I have about your power(now version)- is that you were never a projector of silage and hercules -but at your release you were maybe just a little stronger and could handle more depth... But today you are still my faithful companion and with every wear/use you always have someone you impress the new!Stay well and shine your beauty forever..Alluree!

altinisl

Well this one's alluring.

XOXO_marcel

Unisex, almost feminine-leaning. Has a ton of vanilla & lavender and is incredibly smooth. Really lovely, exudes an air of kindness.
This would be a good choice for an elegant person of either sex. Absolutely perfect for springtime. This might be the best fragrance I've experienced up to this point in time!

jlog23

This and YSL Lhomme are two very similar stories. One of the best smells ever created, but with abysmal performance. If they made a stronger concentration of this, I would die a happy man.

mixter99

Very pleasant creamy citrus and peach which has this modern but also classic vibe, I like the smell, hate the performance, unfortunately I’m not going to buy it because it just doesn’t last at all. 2 hours tops, come on Chanel..
6/10

Sfin74

I wore this 15 years ago. Then 10. Then 5. And now. It’s been reformulated. But so has almost anything more than 3 years old. My opinion. Subjective as it is is that this is an extraordinary scent.
It lasts 4-6 hours. The last few hours being weak. But it’s not at a niche price point. So spritz away. The warm vanilla, tonka bean, woody smell is so comforting. So inviting. This, Antaeus, Egoiste, Bel Ami/Vetiver make me swoon.

Krisena

It's a super pleasant, well-made and very unique scent that reminds me maybe most of MFK Amyris Homme in its profile. There's a fruity, fresh aspect to it, a creamy aspect to it, but there's also a part of it that smells outright buttery. Like putting your nose into a box of room temperature butter. It's so strange and unique, and it put me off at first, but I came to like it and it's not so prominent at distance as it is on the skin.

Despite really liking the scent, I don't understand what kind of outfit this would work with. It's not a very formal scent, and would feel out of place with a dress shirt, but there's also something crisp and wet and refreshing about it that makes it feel out of place with a flannel shirt as well. I would say a style that is almost sporty, with technical fabrics, but still happy, outgoing, colorful.

MarkoPeeko

Lucky to land a 50ml bottle of this in the sales.

As beautifully zesty and creamy as I remember it in the mid-90s.

An absolute pleasure to wear.

jbozz

Just picked up a new bottle of Allure Homme from Macy's, and I swear it smells like Chanel has slightly tweaked this to better match the new All-Over body spray. It smells smoother and somehow creamier than my previous bottle, but performance is about the same. I can only repeat what has been said before, simply a gorgeous signature worthy scent suitable for literally any occasion or setting, but it either needs a complete reformulation to enhance performance or an EDP flanker with better lasting power and projection. Either way this will always have a place in my collection.

Vermillion

Timeless Classic Magic in a bottle!

CoachSignature88

Idk why I have not tried this till now but I was at Maceys and they had this in the special drawer lol after it tries down I was just blown away! I don’t get any one note it’s just so well blended! This is the ideal perfect signature scent. Crazy amount of notes that all blend perfectly to create this alluring elixir! Allure homme sport and sport extreme have nothing on this magic juice! Although I do prefer allure sport over the extreme it’s still just a 7.5/10. Extreme is boring to me and lands at a 6/10. Allure homme is a solid 10/10 dare I say it?!! Timeless masterpiece! Next I will try the allure Blanche and compare with this.

colbym

Ideal men's Chanel fragrance, not far off from Coco Mademoiselle. Not super casual, but I've been getting use out of it casually any way. Lacks the powdery follow up that a lot of the women's Chanel fragrances have, which is a big plus, in my opinion. Better than Bleu de Chanel.

KJS88

I still have a small bottle kicking around from 1999, plus a 50 ml bottle from 10 years ago, and 100 ml bottle from last year. It's definitely changed over the years, but if this ain't the classiest peach fragrance, even its current form, I'll be damned. I had no idea this was as widely known or popular as it is to this day. I've been catching random whiffs of it here and there. It's a really handsome smelling scent, and a refreshing change from the jarringly sharp blues and headachy sauvages of the last decade and a bit. This would be gorgeous in EdP and Parfum iterations that tease out the different aromatic aspects of the formula - the EdP drawing on the peach skin and spice elements, the Perfume focusing on the floral and wood elements, within the same overall structure.

hellogoddag

Very complex aroma.
Creamy, woody, fruity, a little sweet. The peach is luckily quite detectable and compliments the citrus aspect smoothly.
Sophisticated. But also mysterious in spite of the fairly bright scent profile.
Allure Homme keeps me curious and fascinated - much more than it´s flankers which are fairly quickly understood.
I get the feeling that all the notes in this one are spotlighted all at once. It will probably take years to understand it completely. I like that kind of scent.

dayonee

Somehow always managed to pass by this one at the store. Never caught my attention. (Always went straight to Platinum Egoiste, my signature, to get my fix) After 24 years since its release, finally tried it on paper.

AMAZING! Why the hell have I been going past this one. Fresh and classy like the PE, but a different vibe with the citrus. Very smooth and creamy as it dries down.

I think this one is timeless and definitely at the top, with PE, when it comes to men's Chanel.

drummertama11

This is a spring time MUST HAVE! If you’re new to fragrances and are looking into getting this, this is a great starter fragrance for the spring time!

IMHO this is blind buy safe!

SmellsFargo

On its own, it makes me feel like I'm in an old high-end rap video; think Sky's the limit by biggie. It has such a nice bit of nostalgia from a specific period in time that it makes me smile every time I wear it.

Oftentimes I layer this with something loud, usually a clean or white floral fragrance like Apollonia.

Hawaii Jake

This is the most subtle citrus fragrance I own. It's gorgeous. The citrus is muted by the earth notes and the vanilla. I really love it. I get good performance. I apply unscented lotion and then spray on top of that, and it lasts for hours.

Ford4630

Absolutely beautiful smell - peach citrus with a musky background. Almost no projection after a few minutes and quickly fades away as others have experienced. I was concerned that it might be a bit dated but I definitely don’t think it is, although it does lean feminine (in a good way).

I am sincerely hoping that some mysterious employee representing Armaf or Lattafa reads this review and decides to make a more potent, cheaper version. What a welcome decision that would be!!

JaYco7

Picked this up recently and it’s absolutely a beautiful scent. Longevity & silage are moderate. The peach note is very prominent for me and the dry down is smooth. Must buy!

rosetinteddream

I completely agree with ColoradoCouloir! An EDP and parfum of the original Allure Homme would be amazing! I've had this thought many times, and think this scent deserves that kind of attention and recognition. Chanel and Olivier, please! Many of us are over Bleu and all the sport flankers. I have nothing else to add here.

🥀

I have to note that when I went to Sak’s and was sniffing Bond no 9, MFK, Killian, and Creed…one of those houses if not a few had a scent that smelled like this. I wish I could remember what it was that reminded me of this 🤔

ColoradoCouloir

I was just enjoying the sample that came with my AHSEE and AHEB order and thinking Chanel really needs to release an EDP version of this OG. I adore the dry down but after 4hrs it seems to disappear.

Everyone laughs at how infrequently Chanel has anything new for Men but an Edp of the original Allure would make waves. Instead (sigh) they released body sprays.

Edit: bought a full bottle. I can’t deny how well this works on me for spring.

Bluecollarfresh

An absolute mens classic. A must have.

JR89

Still one of my fav scents. Just wished it performed better (longer) on the skin.

RLB1979

This is a absolute classic that you can wear any time, wear it dressed up, wear it around the house, very pleasant, classy but casual, It opens with nice touch of sweet citrus notes, as it dries down it gets slightly floral, woody, the amber warms it up some but you could still pull this off on a warm day easily, longevity and projection are both decent nothing mind blowing but not bad either maybe 6-8 hours longvity depending on your trigger finger, if you collect fragrances this should be in your collection, As I have suggested to many guys who want advice on getting started in this unstable mental thing we do in collecting fragrance, Every man needs one Chanel fragrance and this one should not be overlooked, It may be in the shadow of Allure Sport Eau Extreme these days but without this the "OG" that would have never existed

assim.hayderi

I have tested some of Chanel's scents at the airport before but I have never really liked any of them. I even got a bottle of bleu de chanel which i think is too mainstream and there is nothing special about it. Recently I blind bought this one and man it smells good. Everythings is perfectly balanced. Extremely classy and it will definitely be my signature scent.
Scent: 9/10
Projection: 7/10
Longevity: 7/10

ColMcr78

Gorgeous,subtle and classy
Perfect choice to wear for a New Year’s Eve meal.
One of the best.

JImbonA583BG

I have tested it in local a perfumery,i really liked the opening but then kinda what was left with was a musk dominance, maybe its me and my skin chemistry or my unexperienced nose. Its interesting that my cuffs still smell after one week and i have applied it on my wrist, carefully waiting for them to dry, preventing them not be dried by my cuffs. It doesnt smell dated at all,its in time and i also dont find it mature,if you like it,rock it.Im excited to have welcome it to my modest collection. The impression it gave me was very noble, gentle, warm and not intrusive,a bit airy like aura, its reminds of light and i think its perfectly fits my character, was albe to take whiffs from my cuffs in the evening and really enjoyed it,its there doing its thing but not shoting(applied it in the morning)Anyway,i guess one spray its not enough to justify, thats why i opted for a full bottle, luckily have managed to find an old formulation bottle without the ring, not that i wont have bought the new.I will make more detailed review after giving it some more spins. It will be my companion throughout the New Year, lolz.Have a magical NY with your favourite frags, haha.

Alexey Fisher

I absolutely love it!!! One of my favorite perfume! Timeless!!!

yossey

I used to have this one and Blue de Chanel, all together back in 2012.
I thought the sillage and longevity for the Allure of Chanel EDT was weak, and I used this one on a daily basis as an everyday fragrance.
However, one cold evening -after a long day of work- a pharmacist complimented my fragrance. It was a very busy, high end, latin american drugstore, with a bunch of people shopping and some representatives spritzing different perfumes in the air.

It was a reasonable distance between me and the pharmacist. She was able to distinguish my fragrance after 10+ hours on my skin.

I realized you get quickly used to the leather and the animal notes in the perfume. Hours later, even a day after, the fragrance remains as a faint chocolate and caramel note. The labdanum and haba tonka makes you assimilate the fragance as a smell of your own.

If you smoke tobacco, it can be a good option. Yeah, distinguished.

Naoto

Bought a new bottle again at World Duty Free, Heathrow since the last time (2008). The smell remains the same - very gorgeous, but somehow I can't help thinking that the projection and the longevity is weaker and shorter than it used to be. It only stays on my skin for 3 hours maximum.

northnowhere

Tested yesterday at one of the big retailers @ Chanel stand. It smells really nice but it has absolute zero longevity. It was gone before I left the mall. Will not purchase.

otteromkram

Chanel Allure Homme is the definition of "smells good." I just picked up a bottle and it became an instant favorite; this is the scent I've been searching for and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. If you need further description of the notes and profile, plenty of other users have left some great comments on that topic.

tl;dr -

It just smells good. All the time.

mohamedabdelreheim

Deserves more credit. AHS gets all the love, which is warranted, but I’m still in love with the OG the most. Even current formulations aren’t as bad as people make it out to be. Classic Chanel airiness. Performance isn’t insane, but it doesn’t need to be.

jbozz

Chanel really needs to release an EDP concentration of this classic, the current EDT is just too watered down and doesn't project for more than 30-45 minutes if that! Longevity is maybe 4 hours if I'm lucky. The basic scent is still there but just feels so faint, like a shadow of its former self. I had a bottle back around 2000 and it was phenomenal but I wasn't old enough to truly appreciate it then. Current formulation issues aside, this in my opinion is simply a perfect signature scent.

Lizabs68

CLASSY!!!!!!

memesncheese

Fantastic. Creamy, fruity, light woods with signature Chanel airiness around the edges. Not a strong projector but it lingers for a decent amount of time creating a gentle aura, the ideal style of “performance” in my opinion. It is cozy and casual, smooth and versatile. The person who wears this is humble and reserved, kind and dependable.

Dumbplings

I always liked the Allure homme sport flankers but i'm not a big citrus fragrance fan, I mainly enjoy the vanilla dry down and that creamy smell in it. So I gave this one a try and I like this more than the sport flankers because this is not so much a citrus fragrance but it's quite fruity and I prefer the fruity peach smell over the basic lemon like in edition blanche or the basic mandarin orange like in sport flankers. The sport flankers are also quite basic, this does have a little more complexity and depth with a lot more notes going for it. The performance of this is not as good as the sport flankers or edition blanche but this is a great one. I guess I really did accidentally save the best for last out of the ones I tested unknowingly. Pleasant surprise I thought this would be the worst because it's older and the original but I was wrong

Akhantru

Wow. That is a lot of hate for a prestigious house's offerings, heinrich_B. This house has very seasoned and talented perfumers. It must have taken them a lot of hard work to get there .... It baffles me how you could just so sweepingly spew all that negative feedback. Perhaps you shouldn't have invested in the bottle ? Tastes vary.baome like what guerlain does others go by how well blended and safe chanel's offerings are ...

studytennis

Sublime compositions of notes. This masterpiece truly deserves the “Allure” name.

Yalcin05

Perfectly blended gentlemens smell. Reminds me of some quality sandalwood niche perfumes.. but does not last at all unfortunately..

FirstSense

Jacques Polge is my all-time favourite perfumer. His methods and techniques are stellar and form a perfect example of the class of traditional French perfumery. My all time Holy Grail fragrance is Ungaro II. A Polge masterpiece of epic proportions. Discontinued for many years but the scent is carved in my memory. Allure Homme has almost the same level of complexity and style. It's a totally different fragrance but it is also a masterpiece. The fruity fresh opening with that typical peach citrus smell that uplifts the senses instantly and gives a smile on the face. The heart that is spicy, woody and masculine with a very beautiful dry down with tonka, vanilla and coconut. The perfection of the blend of all those ingredients is the trick of the master perfumer and gives Allure Homme this timeless class and style. The fragrances of Chanel are tradition ultima forma and I love that as much as I love Paris.

DasFrag

Absolute perfection.

Top notes are citrus but heavy and solid. Imagine stuffing perfectly ripe fruit in a patchouli log on a beach.

Lasts like a beast. Solid full day. Love this scent.

adamh9201

Over the years I have been through many scents. Expensive, cheap, designer, niche, and everything in between. Yet there is nothing like this one. I will always have this as my signature

ROUSAK

Nice, sophisticated. My father signature scent. One of the best from Chanel. 8/10

autumnrequiem

I heard Amyris Homme by MFK is a niche version of this and I’m prepared to pay the big bucks if that’s true. That’s how much I love Allure Homme. It reminds me of a time long gone, of nostalgia, of simpler times. This is a very special scent for me as not only I smelled it back in the early noughties as a young man, never knowing what it was but wanting it so much at the same time, but also a fragrance my now wife unknowingly chose for me on one of her trips many, many years later. This is from a time when some designer scents were created with love and not mass appeal in mind. I wear this at home when I feel good over more than 60 other fragrances, including many niches.

Vikingtop

A fresh soapy peach with orange and citrus in the beginning, all in all quite soapy, but in a elegant and sophisticated way, later it get's more woody, with rose and a bit lavender.... a little powdery , a little leather bit all in all soapy

A very elegant, but still modern fresh barbershop scent

Pete89

If Allure Homme was a person, it would be a trustworthy guy who values family and friendship. He is never the center of attention, and he never shouts or screams. He likes to be by himself to read a book or listen to music, but you can call him for a night out in town, too. A serious talk is fine, but so are jokes and laughs. His favorite seasons are spring and autumn. He has taste, but he doesn't advertise it. He'd rather wear a Swiss leather strap watch than a shiny Rolex and drive a reliable hatchback instead of a luxury SUV. Shiny new gadgets is something he avoids, he knows he can rely on the quality things he already has. He's well-spoken, interested in the world and likes to travel. He's 'been around'. At the same time, his home is warm, cozy and inviting. He just invited you for a cup of coffee.

That's Allure Homme.

FumeL'ver

This is the best Allure for men, PERIOD. The flankers can't compare - they smell like cheap detergents to me. While this Allure smells like others I've smelled that came afterward, I wouldn't say its entirely unique but I can repeat that it's the best Allure for men so far. Staying power isn't as strong as I assume it was when it first came out but it is a lovely fragrance with notes that I love. I get almost all the notes but on me it quickly dries down to a sandwood, coconut, tonka, patchouli, woody vanilla. Perfect all year round.

This is it. After years of eyeballing this, and looking for a signature scent, we have met at long last. Finally sniffed it at a store and bought it instantly. Super fruity, fresh, interesting, versatile. I’m totally in love, and already feel it’s a part of me.

Lando1976

My nino got me a bottle of this masterpiece for my birthday a few years after it was released and I still have it. At the time, I didn’t know how or when to wear it but I knew it was something special so I kept it. Now, Every time I wear it I get lots of compliments and it still lasts forever. Beautiful and iconic.

clintjr82

Awesome, Chanel should make an edp or parfum version. The talent and Masterful blend to make this scent ageless is impressive.

bradsapho

An absolute icon in the game. When i sampled i realised i'd smelled this 100 times while out in public. Great smell, great longevity, great performance. Iconic citrus woody.

TimSmells

Smelled a lot better on the strip than on my skin where it was also much more subdued. Will keep trying until the sample runs out but only got an hour or two of light projection and about 5-6 hours total longevity. It seems very well blended but the performance just isn't strong enough.

AMDs44

After reading many positive reviews about this one, I got really curious to test it out. I think I smelled a couple of months ago but today I went to a store and sprayed on my skin. Wow! It's gorgeous. I'm glad I insisted on spraying it on my skin. On paper, it smells very soapy, which isn't necessarily bad but it shines on skin. It's very spicy without being overwhelming.

It's incredibly hot and humid here these days but I can totally see myself wearing it. I can't really identify what I'm smelling but it's this lovely combination of spicy notes and fruity notes. Almost smells like a less sweet, more refined One Million. To me One million nailed the sweet spicy-fruity combo but I guess this did that first.

I'm itching for a middle ground scent these days. Something I can wear during the day that would fit with formal wear or a suit. I'm torn between this one and the new reformulated Dior Homme. I'd rather get them both than choose one.

Mishitsu

one of those masterpieces you always gravitate towards. Allure is timeless and classy, very versatile when it comes to season or daytime or occasion. Its very delicate, with fine floral, powdery, slightly sweet notes but a very masculine scent. Its uplifting and galvanizing.

Figliodicaterina

So sad to see the lastingpower is gone. I remember back in the 90s, when they would give you samples just like that, and not just those pathetic little 1ml vials, but often 5ml miniature bottles, I remember being given a few of this when it came out and it lasted forever, like a lot of perfumes back then. But nowadays even most edp are weaker then a cologne was back then, but the prices have kept going up.

Dt_vino

Wow, this smells good. Creamy citrus. I really wish it lasted longer though.

j4yt33

Woody-fruity-floral "for men". Gives me big nostalgia vibes, feels like a comforting hug. Wish it lasted longer

Bedtimestory

Bought a bottle after almost 20 years since the last one, to reacquaint myself with this gorgeous and complex scent.

What a discreet masterpiece, and I say discreet as that's what Allure really is.

I have yet to experience another scent that has peach notes without it being overtly sweet, cheap or infantile in its conception. The pyramid here is insane, and so well blended.
Comforting, fresh, subtle yet confident, sage, slightly masc leaning though a unisex scent. Projection and longevity are leaning towards intimate, though I wouldn't expect it otherwise.
Creamy classic

13faces

Chanel rarely misses. The allure line is no exception, and it is top quality stuff. The OG is the last one in the line I have sampled and it's incredible. Immediately ordered myself a bottle. Beautifully blended, rich, creamy, peach and vanilla. Performance is lacking a bit which seems to be the case with most chanel fragrances, but it doesn't matter. I have sampled a TON of designer fragrances in recent months and even some PDM fragrances, and nothing ive tried rivals chanel in terms of blend, quality and scent profile

jbuzzz

It's great. I owned Allure Homme Sport before this one, Sport is awesome, in my opinion it's better that Sport Eau Extreme which is nice but leans more feminine than I liked in this particular note blend type. The original Allure though, I kept coming back to it, trying decide if I should get it, and I finally did and it was a no brainer. I was afraid it would smell too much like the Sport (or technically vice versa), but they really are each their own thing.

Allure's DNA is definitely in the Sport flanker, but man it's so good as the original. It is more subtle, which is one reason I hesitated, I usually like fragrances with a moderate+ projection at least for a little while after spraying. This one projects ok though in the end, or it projects just the way it's supposed to with this type of fragrance. If someone has to be a little closer at times to smell you, fine, it will pay off in their favor. I'm happy with the performance as well. This one is ok to spray a little more than usual, in my opinion, due to the notes being ok for that.

This is the most masculine of the line, as some have stated, but not necessarily the "most mature" simply because it is more subdued... The Sport is plenty mature as well for example. I think this OG is very classy, and worthy of Chanel quality.

scenturian

One of the best along with Antaeus, Egoiste and Egoiste Platinum,
Very complex profile and to be honest I detect each note.

Staretsi

This is an underrated masterpiece by Jacques Polge. It is wonderfully discreet, clearly crafted for close encounters. Alluring, as the name suggests. It smells gorgeous. Furthermore, it is very versatile as it can be used as a daily wear or for evening events during most seasons.

8/10

sheynose

I have little love for this one and I’ve given it a fare share of wears over the several years I’ve had it. It reminds me of fermenting fruit, not rotting but fermenting like you smell in the touristy areas in the carabean. Very sweet fermenting fruit.

rosetinteddream

This is becoming one of my favs for spring and summer! I know a lot of folks voted for fall and winter, and honestly I think this is wearable anytime. It’s just that peach and coconut become a little pronounced on my skin and it’s very befitting for the humidity where I am.

I bought a pre-reform bottle a few months ago as my intro to the og Allure Homme. I have Edition Blanche which I like, and smelled the sport flankers but wasn’t sure I was that into them. This one though...this is gorgeous.

I find it very expertly crafted and blended. The beginning is full of citrus, peach, and ginger on my skin. Starts off bright, sparkly and fresh. Then it goes into the middle notes and I get mostly pepper and a blend of florals but not one in particular. As it dries down to the base, I get vanilla, coconut, tonka, musk, and just a hint of sandalwood. The end result is still bright, but very grounded and creamy. I absolutely love it and have received compliments while wearing it.

I bought a newer formulation and although the smell is pretty much the same, the performance is not. The older one projects for hours on me until it finally settles into a skin scent after maybe hour 5 or 6. The new one is gone within a few hours. I do a few sprays of the vintage and then spray generously with the new one. At first I thought I was anosmic to it and left it alone for several days and tried but ended up with the same short life span for the newer bottle. Ah well, I still enjoy it very much.

🥀

Update 11/18/22 - Either this fragrance really shows itself in colder weather, or my newer bottle has FINALLY bloomed because this is intoxicating. Not in an overwhelming way, it’s just really really nice. Also, I do think most Chanel fragrances have to be given time to sit and bloom in the bottle. This could be some kind of mental placebo, but I swear my newer bottles don’t really show their true power until months if not a year after the first spray.

aguyincali

This is one of the first fragrances I bought over 20 years ago. Just bought a new bottle today, still in love with it. Complex yet undemanding. Gorgeous scent that still commands respect, and is quite versatile. Love love love.

JustHalfling

This is the most mature, unique, and complex out of the entire line AH line.

And I LOVE what Chanel did with said AH line:

Allure Homme - Creamy peach
Allure Homme Sport - Creamy orange
Allure Homme Édition Blanche - Creamy lemon
Allure Homme Sport Cologne - Zesty lime
Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême - Clean porta potty

There's something for everyone!

Schnappo90

I had only ever got my nose on the Allure Homme flankers and I'm a huge fan of the line so I thought it was time to add the classic Allure Homme to my collection. I'm glad I did.

This is good stuff. Opens with a fresh citrusy blast (mainly lemon, and I also pick up on orange and peach here) and then shortly after the spices and vanilla start to come out. So well balanced. A timeless fragrance.

One thing that is evident when smelling the original Allure Homme - Chanel really know how to make flankers. I love that they retain so much of the original Allure Homme DNA in Sport, Eau Extrême and Edition Blanche - one of, if not the best designer lines out there.

This one is my signature right now, wonderful juice and sexy smell in the bottle

Allure, a masterpiece and one of my favorite go-to mens edt's in the early 2000's. Anyway, I was at Marshall's today and of course I was browsing the fragrances. I picked up one called 'Sexy Secret by, Jean Marc Paris for Men' 3.4 oz. It says Canada on it. It smelled ALOT like the original Allure, so much, that I spent a whole $12.00 + tax. The longevity is not too shabby (3-6+hours) and projection is not modest and becomes more intimate after two hours or so. Two sprays on my neck and boy, this smells great. The ingredient pyramid is not the same as Allure, but this is Allure indeed. Sexy Secret is not overly synthetic or watered down either and almost as strong as an edp(kind of oily too). Jean Marc's website has it for sale for $50, marked down from $75 incidentally.
Ebay runs about $25.

In the past 20 years I have not tried or found ANY Allure clones, but this is exceptional--very glad I found it!

Sidenote:. I am not being compensated by Jean Marc Paris for this review. I sell cigars in Austin. I am just a gentleman---always on the lookout for a bonafied deal.

This is a masterpice creation in all weather. Very unique and maskuline luxury smell.

One of the nicest fragrances I've had. Lasts all day/night. Dries beautifully. Shame I can't afford to wear it everyday! It very much goes to show that you get what you pay for.

Best from Allure line, period.
Sport, Sport extreme are shower like and modern but not as sophisticated, versatile and unique.
Allure sport cologne? You can still rock original Allure even in hot weather so unless you really love citruses, there is no reason to spend that money on cologne.
Edition Blanche? Ok EDT can be maybe placed along original Allure, but I don't like lemon pie vibe going with powdery sweetness.
Pretty much blanche always smells the same on me, where this one here oh man.
depends on your skin, weather, time of the day etc. you can get different vibes.
this is extremally well blended (as all Chanel frags), and even from beginning you can pick up different notes.
I will always have this in my collection and I am hoping they will release EDP or even Perfum version.

Have yet to smell anything like it. It's amazing. 8.5/10

Allure Homme , this is my second bottle , allure with every since of the word ( Peach , Sandelwood & Leather ) , just PERFECT.
P.S. It's about time to Release EDP Edition !

I hadn't owned or smelled Allure in many years and after picking up a bottle recently, I don't know why. This opens up fresh and fruity, but in a grown-up way. The drydown is sweet, creamy, and woodsy, but it still has a bright quality about it. I also get a slight hint of velvety peach skin throughout. I should have never stopped wearing this. It's so easy to wear and works in any situation...relaxed enough for everyday and elegant enough for anything formal. This still smells so good after all these years...good stuff.

I love citruses when they are done in a happy way...when they are just sweet uplifting... you feel you wanna spray them in very hot summer days and I only found this in 3 perfumes : xerjoff Uden , l'homme ideal cologne and this one ...gotta say this one is more masculine...Uden is more musky and ideal is just like candy

Get this perfume if you wanna travel back to happy simple and sunny 90s summer days in the city :))

Akhantru

i will go so far as saying that its probably one of the few timeless fragrances out there. Does not feel dated still and continues to have the feel-good effect as always. truly alluring!

I would not go to the extent of saying that its the best from chanel because i believe there are other chanel fragrances that are master pieces in there own right. (egoiste and platinum egoiste)

Sophisticated, sensual, refined and complex. Man there are so many layers to unpack in Allure Homme. The primary accords of this fragrance to me are warm spicy, citrusy/fruity, woody and slightly sweet. Allure Homme opens with citrus and peach, along with this spicy, aromatic vibe created by ginger, pepper and additional spices. Very refreshing, alluring and elegant. As the fragrance develops and dries down, it becomes sweeter, slightly creamy, with vanilla, tonka and amber growing more apparent. It's sweet but not at all like some sickeningly sweet, synthetic smelling fragrances that give you nothing but overwhelming cloying sweetness. The sweetness here is the subtle result of a combination of many different beautiful notes and layers. I think the complexity of this fragrance makes it one of those scents that gives you hints of something different every time you catch a whiff. Very very complex yet well blended. I'm kinda surprised nobody here pointed it out but the dry down kinda reminds me of D&G The One (perhaps because amber + ginger combo), but a less sweet, fresher, more aromatic and elegant version.

Allure Homme is also extremely versatile, it's warm spicy qualities and complexity make it great for colder weather but its also got enough fresh elements to be rocked on the hotter days. It's also incredibly unique with its sensual yet elegant vibes.

I sampled this one earlier today and I have to say this cologne is very interesting. It’s not like the other dark and leather coats or upscale suits night time wear type of ordeal. It’s much more…tropical I would say, especially with that coconut note. This is much more of a spring/summer day time fragrance and even more so if you’re on your way to the beach. For me this fragrance is very close to Calvin Klein’s Escape, or at least it’s within the same pocket of 90’s beach type fragrances. I would say it’s a more dressy-casual version of it. It’s definitely not bad but I feel I have too many similar colognes for this to be a very distinguishing purchase.

Compositeur

Bought this when it first came out, and have always replaced it when empty since. When it was first launched it captured a moment of French elegance and sophistication, a moment when its competitors were 'screaming' for attention. That's one of the reasons I liked it so much, that and this very smooth blend of citrus and vanilla. This might go against the grain, but I find that it works best in colder months. For warmer ones I use Allure Sport Cologne.
Have recently run out, but decided not to replenish. I will be using Pour Monsieur. Ironic perhaps that I find the older creation more fresh?
Chanel has definitely cornered the market 'for men' citrusy cologne. As much as I get irritated by gender marketing (is a lemon tree masculine?!), I haven't found much that can take its place. Makes you think: all those young perfumers and designer and niche brands...

I've had Allure Homme for a couple years now and have never quite been able to put my finger on why I like this fragrance, or what it is exactly. Tonight I think I figured it out.
Allure Homme is a rich and masculine scent. Sandalwood and vanilla capture the essence of a charming and charasmatic individual who knows what they want. This reminds me of an expensive aftershave or shaving foam that is spiced with some exquisite bay rum and sandalwood with vanilla and labdanum.
I always get compliments with this one, good performance 3-6hrs of projection. Excellent for going out or staying in, very sensual and ....Alluring.

Starts off with a blast of citrus then is a creamy vanilla peach until the dry down which Is powdery and smells like la nuit de l’homme. Performance is average but perfect for dinner/office type situations

Allure Homme is a citrusy, fruity, warm and woody fragrance.

Its output is citrusy and fruity maybe peach and mandarin, this phase immediately huges you. In some moments it feels floral and green, but above all it is warm. The base of this fragrance is vanilla, amber, sandalwood and maybe a little coconout, but never lose its fruity feature.

Allure Homme is the fragrance of a gentleman, it has class, elegance, and warmth. For me is weareable every time of the year, in formal or casual situations, romantic outgoings, etc.

It lasts on me 8 hrs., and although does not leave much of a sillage, it is always perceived around.

This and Allure Homme Sport are my favorites of the line, I love it.

I love this scent. Smells rich!!! Like a suit wearing man with gel in his hair. A very beautiful and sexy scent. Lasts longer on your clothes more than your skin. Definitely a compliment getter. I first smelt this at a Chanel store in the Bellagio in Vegas. I doused my cousin with it and he was getting compliments all night long laughing at me.

kelementamas8

My favorite (was) is the Homme Sport, but decided to try the original as well, since I like the OGs more, but I didn't know where to put it, for the first time it was just citrus, then the second just pepper, the third it was just some vanillic mess, but today, after leaving like a milliliter dent on the bottle, and it gave some same vibes as the Sport, and the notes became combined, Jesus...all I can see is now the classic Polge and Chanel quality, I swear all of the Chanel releases has some chic vibe to it, this one resembles some woman/man in a creamy suit/dress, really high class, I swear for one I can't find words for it and second now I don't know where can I use it, because the longetivity kinda sucks, but oh well, it will be my secret lover.

One word: MASTERPIECE.

fragrantbaker

This is my favourite of the whole allure lineup. It’s not the strongest so if that’s what you require move on to something else. It’s very elegant and refined. I personally think this works in all seasons, I would just wear more of it in cooler weather than I would in the heat. On the sexier side of something safe for the office I would say.

kelvin tan

Was looking for my own signature scent for years by watching fragrance influencer review on youtube. I end up buying tons of superstar like ultramale,1 million ,eros,la nuit and few more. Honestly i'm really surprise that this original allure homme is never being talking about of how great it smell. This is just a high quality juice from Chanel house and in my opinion better than those overhype flankers like AHSEE,Bleau de chanel and Blanche.

Smelled fantastic with great performance,i get 6 hour max projection with the longevity seems until i shower or wash my jacket. My wife usually never give compliment for my fragrance collection, but surprisingly she was saying this magical juice smell like heaven. But im really doubt some people complaint for its longevity and projection. For me,i dont have any problem of it and i do believe some people are getting noseblind or anosmia which happent on me for AHSEE..i sprayed AHSEE everyday for around 1 week and i cant even pick up the smell after 30 min. In a conclusion, get a sniff of this original allure homme before purchasing it's flankers. It might change your mind. Daddy will be always a Daddy.

pbreslin

A new love of mine! I received this from my girlfriends uncle as he no longer used it. There is about 85% of the juice left in a 100 ML bottle which is excellent. For reference, the batch code is 7501 [Dates to March 2014]. This is the older version with the CHANEL text on the bottle instead of the cap.

This scent is pure bliss, it is quite nostalgic and takes you to a familiar, happier place. This reminds me of someone who is cool, calm and collected. They are never rushed and have all their priorities set - really a well put together person. I cannot speak to the newer botte, but this 2014 batch performs for about 10 hours and the sillage is strong for 4 hours.

The complexity of this scent makes it very unique to each nose. I personally get a clean, fresh scent, with a healthy touch of rosewood or a note resembling cinnamon. Others who have detected this on me interpret it differently. I am truly impressed with how creative this is.

Chanel is a master house of fragrance and altogether as a brand. Each fragrance has their own interesting nuances, and again I am thoroughly impressed. I recommend trying this first since it is more of a mature/gentleman scent. It does not scream for attention, but instead gracefully projects and reveals you smell great with a 'not even trying' type of vibe.

A perfect blend. Allure Homme comes in unison. A crescendo that ends up in a perfect accord. Another perfume that has this kind of effect is Tuxedo. After the first seconds you don’t pick up notes anymore, but one beautiful and whole accord.

I’ve had all of the flankers, but the og is the only Allure that’s still worth my money.

Jacques Polge plays on a league of his own.

Beautiful.
I'm not sure how I managed to sleep on this one, but I'm glad I finally picked it up.
This is vastly superior to the over-hyped flankers of the line.
Smooth, expertly-blended and opulent peach, cedar, lemon and vanilla, with a strong backing of herbs and spices, coconut and florals.
In my opinion, easily unisex.
Timeless classic.

🥥🍑🪵 Allure is the elegance bottled! with the “easy to fall in love” effect. One of the most AROMATIC fragrances I have ever smelled. It feels tenderly CITRUSY and PEACH-ish. Allure splits waves of VANILLA: SWEET, WOODY and WARMING. I feel a very powerful “SPICY” COCONUT note in the drying and an inviting POWDERY trail. The representation of the masculinity and the good dress. Exclusively for suits meeting, weddings and romantic dates during the colder months of the year.

Pure class - Jack polge on the fuckn beat
the most mature of the line
top notch quality
not my fav of the line but it's truly a boss
not an alpha male scent could be worn by women too
opens up very citrusy mostly mandarine orange followed up by peach then maybe some pink pepper
then lots of vanilla and a lil bit of coconut yes !
it's very creamy and dense i think this one is a compliment magnet for sure
no leather at all lol at least you wont smell nothing leathery here, lots a fantasy notes listed...
all in all : Creamy mandarin peach vanilla and coconut (don't expect to smell something exotic like creed virgin water, nothing like that here it's just coconuty undertones)
very good performance

I completely agree with @Bfreepro417.

I've been using this for over a year and still love it. The opening is not why I love this fragrance, but the way it dries down on skin is just incredibly luxurious. Very nice blend of vanilla and powders, but not too sweet.

Only needs 1 or 2 sprays as the projection is quite strong. I much prefer it to the Sport flanker.

Bfreepro417

Ok…this one surprised me. Gotta be honest here… I actually enjoy it MUCH better than it’s ridiculously popular and (over)hyped-to-death flanker, Allure Homme Sport. I do enjoy that one too, don’t get me wrong, I own it along with Eau Extreme… I’m just genuinely surprised that so many people seem to just ignore this one and only recommend the Sport and Sport Eau Extreme… I sincerely believe this is largely due to trends, especially with youtubers, and the inevitable “groupthink” that permeates any tight-knit enthusiast community.

When you see this one, the original Allure Homme, get skipped over so often in favor of a sport flanker, one starts to assume it might be viewed as “outdated”, more mature, or just an overall totally different scent (sort of how every flanker of Prada Luna Rossa is VASTLY different from the other) Well, I tried it out today for the first time in 2021, and this scent from 1999 (released when I was only 10 years old!) still is an absolute banger. Pure class and impeccable craftsmanship, with a certain timelessness that exceeds even the other uber-popular and oft-recommended Chanel masculine, Bleu de Chanel.

Upon first spray, you can absolutely smell instant similarities with the Sport flanker (AHS). The bright, juicy citrus notes are there (the peach is amazing in particular), but it’s a deeper, more complex scent almost immediately. It’s not as sharp and metallic as AHS, but from the get-go has more warmth to it while still remaining very fresh and clean. It’s a bit sweeter but also has more spice and woodiness to it, which greatly enhances it and adds some excellent complexity and depth to it. I feel this is much more signature scent worthy than AHS. It’s definitely not as thick and heavy as Eau Extreme, but also not as light and simplistic as Sport. There are a TON of notes listed here, which was pretty common in the 80s and 90s especially, but I don’t really detect all of them.

The drydown is where this really elevates itself over the flankers, it’s just richer and more resinous and a much more pleasing scent to my nose. I love benzoin and sandalwood. The most voted base note here is vanilla, and when I read that I kind of wasn’t sure how I’d like it, but it’s not sickly-sweet or overly thick and heavy, it just ties everything together with a beautiful creaminess, the scent still retains its freshness and spice regardless.

Very glad I picked this one up. An excellent scent and one of Chanel’s best in my opinion! Better than Bleu De Chanel for me, it almost instantly made its way into my top 10. Still love the flankers but this one is more classy and versatile and fits me better :)

buggaluggachug

super synthetic peach. it smells like syrup on my skin. not into it. 2017 batch.

brokesta911

Chanel Allure Homme (1999) - ginger tonka - #jacquespolge ‘s masculine offering in the 90’s starts off with a fresh fougere: grated Ginger, Citruses, and Lavender. Then comes an interesting heart of black pepper and Tonka bean (the green grassy-type with a hint of almond) supported by a coumarin-amber-white musk base. I also get some white florals, but it adds more a creamy texture to the perfume, than add any strong floral component.

3Storms

The scent I get out of it is a clean scent - like the smell of laundry dryer sheets - merged with the scent of new leather with soft citrus notes. It's elegant, as expected of Chanel. It's not for the types covered in tats, wear clothes purely on the brands, and repeat catchphrases. It's more for the "reading a book in front of a fireplace after spending the day at the museum" type.

Dirtyhoody

Picked up a 5 oz on the grey and it smells great but the performance is lacking. I figured it's probably been reformulated but it's chanel so I went with it. Don't regret the purchase but wish it had more oomph.

Hugo Montez

A Chanel that doesn't smell like a Chanel

Chanel is well known for his historic nº5 and for great classy and classic fragrances.
Unfortunately, the Olivier Polge era isn't going well and his father's last creations aren't truly classics either.

Bleu de Chanel or Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme aren't great releases although are the ones most youtubers and young noses know and praise a lot. That's mainly because of it's sweet and fresh elements. Since late 90's, the fragrance industry started to put out some sweet creations in the masculine lineup. Givenchy's Pi, JPG Le Male, A*Men, etc...

In 1999, Jacques Polge created this Allure. A Chanel fragrance that doesn't smell like a Chanel (until that time). A sweet concoction with creamy nuances and some fougere hints here and there. Lavender, bergamot, creamy woods and sweet tonka with a touch of peach. Since his creation, Chanel's masculines changed to a more fresh, sporty and versatile scents for everyday use.

Although not a great fragrance, it's one that is very overshadowed by his little brothers (Allure Homme Sport, Eau Extreme or even Edition Blanche (the best one, btw)) and specially by the Bleu line. This is one of the first good fresh-sweet fragrances that helped change the perfumery that we know today. For the good and the bad. But anyway, this is still masculine and with a 90's vibe. Super versatile, like some of his contemporanies (Boss Bottled, Rochas Man, etc...) and better than the Sport flankers.

I only prefer Edition Blanche over this for a Spring and summer day, but this is great for fall and winter. The only problem is that it was reformulated and it doesn't last so well and it isn't so complex (specially in the opening) like the version that i have (2002 batch), but still, is a good option for a everyday fragrance.

A fragrance that deserves more atention thatn the newer Chanel's fragrances.

Even with the reformulation, this is a timeless classic! This exudes sophistication.

I own the original 150ml & reformulation 150ml.The original I use sparingly. Definitely a mature fragrance, however I could see a mature 25+ pulling this off.

You can always trust this house to make quality juice, this is no exception! I didn't realize I had smelled this many years ago, but it instantly brought me back to the beach trip I tried it on as a kid.

This is citrusy and creamy vanilla all wrapped in an easy to wear woody dry down. The peach in this is mouthwatering. It is absolutely phenomenal to my nose and really shines when your skin warms up a bit. Hard to believe this came out over 20 years ago as it still smells modern and classy. Chanel has been killing it for decades and never ceases to amaze my nose and I.

This is incredible, dont miss out in this one, I’m sad it took me so long to finally rediscover it!!

AA4102

This has the right balance of softness and intensity which I enjoy a lot. Classy-oriental-sandalwood-and-spice amazingness in a bottle. I'm glad it's not as popular as CAHS/CAHSEE lol.

Keemun

Agree with @smellydude. Sampled recently and it doesn't have the same presence as it did back in the early 2000's when I first owned it.

It has always been a sleeper, I think because its opening is pretty subdued. It shines after drydown where it becomes unique and aromatic. Masculine, yet transparent and wearable. I don't think smelling this with other samples on paper in a busy mall works for this scent. It would fade into the background.

rorybr1

@Hugo Montez
You are a complete moron lol

I bought Allure Homme because I really like the original feminine version and was surprised to see so many of the floral-fruity notes appear here. I generally gravitate toward fragrances marketed to women, as—perhaps until very recently—they've always seemed more complex and daring than men's fragrances. (Of course, if I had my way, we'd do away with such categories altogether.) So, when I saw this peculiar medley, I was intrigued.

On the whole, it works. On the one hand, the freesia, gardenia, vanilla, tonka, coconut, benzoin, and sandalwood form a delicious foundation that straddles the sweet, the creamy, and the powdery without becoming syrupy or cloying. If this were combined with an overdose of peach and mandarine, you'd be very close to the original EdP. Here, though, there's a blend of woods that adds some depth and warmth; I pick up mainly on the heartiness of the rosewood. Up top, a fizzy-aromatic mix of lavender, pepper, lemon, ginger, and a spritz of bergamot, all of which join forces—quite seamlessly—to create a refreshing luminosity and zest. The peach, for me, is the through-line: from beginning to end, it casts a haze of juicy lactones on the rest of the composition, diffusing and softening it—the superficial fuzz on the velveteen skin.

I can't quite say why Allure Homme smells a bit dated to me, but I suspect it's simply because my nose unconsciously registered it on others at the height of its popularity, by now almost two decades past. Nevertheless, it's a fragrance that I enjoy immensely. It's fresh, floral, sweet, and creamy, yet sparkles with aromatics and citruses. I think it's actually a lot more unisex than it would like to admit. Better in warmer weather, but balanced enough to be versatile in terms of season and time of day. Allure Homme also leans casual, but it does casual so damn well. There's a studied insouciance to it, the rustle of white cotton on sun-kissed skin, the simple gift of a sincere smile (a quality shared by Allure EdP). If you have the chance, definitely give this one a try. It might surprise you.

Mr. Boston

This is a pleasant fragrance, classically French, and was sophisticated for its time when first released in 1999. The vanilla and tonka really make this fragrance shine in the dry down, but be warned - it is not a sweet vanilla, it is what I would call an aromatic vanilla with some soapy notes thrown in. It’s not dense, and wears very transparent. Longevity is about 2-3 hours tops.

The other point is that it smells very much like a late 90s early 00’s cologne. While I do like it and enjoy wearing it - I can say that I don’t get as many compliments with this as I do with others. This does not smell modern if you compare it to the other designer offerings out there today.

My last “compliment” on this was from a woman who said, in a playful way, “you smell like one of my high school boyfriends”. She graduated high school in 1998.

GrandMasterO

Allure Homme was what got me into the fragrance game! At first I wasn't very fond of it, but the more I wore it, the more I loved it. It's not a classically "masculine" fragrance, it's soft and sensual, creamy, woody, fresh, sweet goodness. It could easily be unisex. It embraces both masculine and feminine aspects of human beauty. It is not offensive, loved by all, and is timeless. You can wear this any day of the year and not feel out of place. I just wished it lasted longer. But to be fair, even though it lacks staying power, it more than makes up for it in projection. For the few hours this lasts, it projects like a champ! It has this amazing ability to linger in your nose after you catch a whiff of it. Sometimes I smell the atomizer and after I put it down and go about my day, I can still smell it. It's like a warm hug that is always embracing you. Definitely a staple of my collection.

Beautiful. The citrus opening is stunning and the vanilla and tonka are present right from the get-go, although they hide in the background during the initial blast. It evolves quickly, becoming peppery as the citrus fades and the fruity/creamy sweetness shines through, creating such perfect balance between fresh and sweet. I have never really had a desire to wear one fragrance every day until now... It’s a remarkable scent and you can confidently wear it anywhere knowing you smell fantastic and it suits the occasion. This one is special.

Chanel Allure Home EDT opens with a moderate to a strong projection of sweet, citrus, fruity, woody, and spicy notes. The opening is fresh, mild, versatile, inviting, delectable, bright, elegant, and sporty. The lemon, bergamot, mandarin orange, and peach combine to create a fresh, sour, sweet, and fruity note. The mandarin orange and peach are noticeable; they add a deliciously sweet and fruity touch to the opening. The peach is not strong or feminine. The ginger is the spicy featured note, sharp, fresh; it brightens the fragrance and balances the citrus and sweet fruity notes, adding depth and texture. As time passes, the peach and mandarin's sweetness take a step towards the back as the vanilla and tonka grow to position themselves as feature notes; however, they don’t change the fragrance's fresh nature, make it dense, or turn it, gourmand. The fragrance becomes dry and ambery. Multiple other notes come up to support the fragrance and equally contribute, as follows: The cedar and rosewood add a fresh and deep woody note which adds a touch of elegance; the patchouli and vetiver join the fragrance to support the sparkle that the citrus notes initially created, both are fresh, sharp, and green. The rose, gardenia, lavender, and freesia are a faint touch in the far back of the fragrance; the freesia's slightly powdery nature blends with the amber and musk; they give the fragrance its dry nature but don’t make it powdery. The leather and musk work as projecting accords, but they are not bold or featured; the musk comes across as fresh, projecting, and slightly lemony. The fragrance has a noticeable opening to dry down transition; the opening is very citrusy, fruity sweet, bright, sharp, sporty, delectable, and moist. Towards the dry down, the woody notes have grown with an elegant note; the vanilla and tonka surface to take over the initial fruity sweetness, simultaneously, the fragrance becomes dry, ambery, and leather and musk being projecting but maintain this projection as moderate; the support notes move towards the far back of the fragrance leaving a sweet, and woody accords take the lead. Once Chanel Allure Home EDT has reached its full dry down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, citrusy lemon, spicy ginger, sweet tonka, vanilla, woody cedar, rosewood, and fruity peach fragrance with green vetiver, patchouli, musk, leather, and floral accords. The fragrance feels blue, calming, casual, clean, delectable, diurnal, dry, elegant, fresh, fruity, formal, gentle, green, intimate, masculine, mild, moderate-quality, modern, musky, office-ready, professional, refreshing, relaxing, sour, sporty, sweet, versatile, weak, woody, and very pleasant.

I’m torn over whether to buy a bottle or not. It smells gorgeous, which is very surprising to me as I don’t like sweet fragrances and can’t stand the note of tonka bean (I can’t stand AHSES). Allure Homme however blends the notes very smoothly and I don’t get a headache inducing blast of tonka. I would describe the smell as fruity, creamy, and warm. Both my wife and I love how this smells.

The downside? Performance. I’m not usually that bothered about performance with fragrances as I wear them for myself, but even then I can hardly smell this 30 mins after application (and neither can my wife so it’s not because of nose blindness). On the plus side, if my wife does want to smell this, she would have to get extremely close to my neck to smell it, pretty much on top of me...

It’s a gorgeous fragrance, but I’m not sure if I will buy it or not for 30 minutes longevity though.

Very likeable fragrance, not a signature smell though. You can’t go wrong with this. Fits with every seasons and situations. But don’t expect, being unique or recognazible. If you ask people, they will like i but if you dont ask people, they wont even mention your smell.

I first smelled this at the duty free at the airport.

Love at first smell, amazing.

Perfect blend of sweet classy and masculine. Top fragrance! Timeless... a No5 for men.

Addictive smell that is not very challenging though as safe as it could be if it didn’t impress iam sure it won’t offend, a soothing scent in my book

This is French perfumery at it's finest.
Allure Homme actually smells very French, unlike a French perfume inspired by the middle east or other parts of the world. Quite simply French elegance in a bottle.
I could not tell by the scent style this came out in the 90's, even today smells very modern.
The scent is very masculine and elegant type of scent, that can be worn for almost any season except the hottest days, which didn't do too well on me.
On my skin it works best on colder days or nights.
Now for the scent It opens up with a very tart sour type of citruses/fruity, which if it stayed linear from that point i would still be satisfied, but no it gets better, after 30 mins as the top notes move back a bit allowing the lavender to come through almost a Smokey lavender is what i smell. The scent is very complex and has many notes i find the woody notes to really add some class to this. the scent in the dry down to my nose is lavender supported with vanilla and some touch of light creamy coconut/orange.
This scent has many layers and you can pick up different qualities depending on what season u wear it. i get so much more vanilla jump out if i wear it in the summer vs winter in the UK although it is not the best choice for warm weather imo, reason why Chanel brought out the Sport EDT flanker to begin with.
This is my signature scent from late sept-may. then for summer i switch a fresh scent.
Living in London the weather is perfect for this type of scent.
For many years i ignored this scent and went for the flankers of this scent which are all very good. I kind of feel i have missed out on this Gem, but having said that maybe the original masterpiece requires more experienced nose to like and understand.
It is not like the sports version which u understand exactly what you are smelling within the first 3 mins, this one has to be applied to the skin and has to be worn a day or two.
The opening is pretty strong which may put some people off. I was one of those people long time ago. I am glad i gave this another try. I have got to the end of my 50ml bottle
will get 100ml next.
You will need to use 4-5 sprays of this as it's an EDT concentration.
I personally use 4 sprays on skin and 2 sprays on my shirt.
Lasting power is 8-12 hours colder months, summer season expect 6-7 hours (heat makes scent come off the skin quicker)
Scent has moderate projection which is perfect.
Age range is 25 and up for this.
Forget the flankers next time try the original.
This is a timeless masterpiece.

90s perfume, perhaps one of my first purchases that I "exhumed" today hoping it will still be good after so many years.
sharp and citrusy opening.
the top notes are very strong and prolonged in particular lemon, other citrus fruits and ginger.
fishing for me is not obvious.
I don't like pepper in middle notes. let's say pepper is a note that I don't like in general.
in fact pepper is the only noticeable middle note.
at the end I feel the sober tonka bean. but still citrus fruits are the masters.
vanilla for me is not the strongest note.
I remember that in advertisements it was represented as a classy perfume ... well ... for me it is a citrus-peppery perfume with tonka, patchouli and a light vanilla. there is no sweetness in me.
excellent performance.
3/10
however I believe that the correct notes are those of basenotes, with all due respect for fragrantica.

Top notes
Bergamot, Mandarin, Cedar peel
Heart notes
Jamaican pepper
Base notes
Vetiver, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Tonka Bean, Labdanum

perhaps with extra lemon and ginger in the top notes.

I think the citrus in this beats edition blanche as well as the performance, i have all the allure line now and it looks like i have left the best until last, that's not to say i dislike the others at all as i love all of them but this homme stands out as something very special. I could survive on eau exreme and homme alone, chanel and guerlain really know how to produce an addictive scent, i love my dior's too but they are not as versatile. Thank god for lemon in fragrances, where would we be without it. 10/10.

One of my absolute favourites. A beautifully blended, classy, sophisticated, sexy scent. I tend to wear this more for special evenings out, but its pretty versatile. A masterpiece in my opinion.

My friend gave this perfume as a gift. I have been wearing it for 2 years. It is really a very high quality designer perfume. I don't know, its scent got me very hooked. It is one of the perfumes that I will never give up.

I have wanted this for my collection for so long. I have no good excuse for not owning it sooner. It just kept getting put off and put off until recently I just got my first bottle, the 44th fragrance in my repertoire. Oh my. Allure Homme does not disappoint. I have owned Allure Homme Eau Extreme for years, it's a staple in my rotation, but nothing else from the line until now. Allure Homme comes across with this slight peach, pepper, vanilla collision where each wearing seems to uncover another layer to this complex blend. There is a lot going with this fragrance. It's absolutely Chanel brilliance. You can wear this as a signature fragrance pretty much all year round. It's that good. It's timeless and irrelevant how long it's been around for because again, it's just pure genius. My first bottle is now, and it won't be my last, my collection will always have Allure Homme from this day forward. Dior Homme Eau has been my most worn for some time, but Allure Homme will give it some good competition.

A plethora of notes listed, but to me this is one of those scents from the 90's which still can be worn easily today. The opening is citrusy which fades quickly into a blend of vanillic accords with light florals and woods. The opening to me is actually quite aromatic, while the heart is more oriental. The florals are blended with the woods and tonka-vanilla-amber accords without smelling out of place. It's an interesting blend everytime I smell it. By the look of the notes you would think the scent could be all over the place but it's structured very well. I also can detect some pepper and something spicy in the heart as well. The woody base is smooth and even at times powdery. All in all a pleasant vanillic woody oriental which should at least be sampled. Could be a great signature type scent. In my opinion the best from the Allure line. Performance is average, lasting around 6 hours with decent projection for the first hour or so and then slowly fading and staying closer to the skin. Could be worn all year without problem.

Incredible fragrance I love this one so much. Although I think partly that is due to some nostalgia and the memories I associate with this. There really is no wrong time or place to wear this one, It will never offend and will only get compliments (in my experience at least). Probably not ideal for a club though.
It doesn't last too long that is the only downside I'd say. However, to me, the scent is so good that I really don't mind too much. Easily in my top 5 fragrances of all time.

Its weekend,
Around noon time or so,
Sunny but not too hot,
Youre wearing a white cotton shirt,
You are calm and satisfied,
No pressure at all-
Its the time for feeling good and in peace.
Time for The Chanel Allure.

NoirRGV

This is the fragrance that made me get into fragrances on a serious note. My first love was Drakkar but Allure is pure class, all male, strong, no cloying sweetness, warm, unique, and can be used for all occasions. Everybody raves about sport cause it's softer but original Allure is bolder. If I could only have one cologne this would be it.

Scotty123

I own this one and all the other Allure Homme flankers and if I’m being honest they’re ALL great scents! But this one here I have to say could very well be my favorite of the all! It’s fresh, spicy, citrus, with an amazing woody, amber and vanilla dry down that’s sexy and literally alluring! It has great performance as well! You can’t go wrong with this one. It’s a compliment getter just like all the others as well.
