Oud & Rose by Cartier is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Oud & Rose was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Laurent.

The collection of Cartier which has offered luxurious fragrances in elegant flacons Les Heures de Parfum since 2009 till today is introducing three brand new fragrances inspired by the Orient. The collection was initiated in honor of 100 years of existence and is inspired by time and the important moments in life. Previous editions were characteristic for tall glass flacons enumerated with Roman numbers and offering contemporary, elegant and classic compositions aimed at men and women. The three new fragrances which belong to the collection turn course to the Orient, because one of the man ingredients is precious oud combined with intense rose and musk.

The new fragrances arrive in flacons in gold color in the same flacon form as previous editions of the collection Les Heures de Parfum. The names of the new fragrances are: Oud & Oud, Oud & Rose and Oud & Musc, and they are signed by perfumer Mathilde Laurent, perfumer of the house of Cartier, who wants to take us to the wealth and splendor of aromas of distant countries with these fragrances.

In fragrance Oud & Rose precious oud exudes its attraction paired with the seductive strength possessed by rose. United oud and rose provide a harmony of aromas by respecting and following the tradition of the scents of the Orient. The fragrances were presented on the official website of Cartier in flacons of 75 ml.

is this really the same as Oud and Pink? Why would they release the same one again under a different name? Could anyone clarify for me how similar they are, if at all? Thanks!

Igregister

It’s a chypre folks! It’s deep and overpowering! Something similar to Fate Woman Amouage. Not by main accords but by the structure. The truly amazing thing!

lessthanzero

Truly delightful. Rich, deep, bordering on delicious. Dark, fruity rose; musky oud; dry, spicy earthy, green, resinous... It is worth noting that Les Heures Voyageuses are all "pure parfum" concentration.

It's not a "rose-oud," it's a ROSE CHYPRE, folks. Addictive. 5/5

PS: I bought a full bottle. I actually went to buy it in person at Cartier, but was informed that Oud & Rose has been discontinued and pulled from shelves in the United States... apparently in favor of Oud & Pink. It is the only perfume from Les Heures Voyageuses to be discontinued.

Musky roses...

If there is any oud in here then it is traces although it added a dark element to the blend. It's spicy musky and a red sharp rose.

A pleasant heavy oudy musky rose, and it's not for those who doesn't like animalic or the ones who enjoys juicy fruity and white floral blends. It is for those who loves spicy animalic blend but in a more sophisticated, elegant, night artistic event out. Beautiful.

Won't say anything different from the others here but this really is beautiful. Fresh roses with a slightly animalic oud note. Blended masterfully with the roses stealing the spotlight at times. Out of this line, I'm torn between this and Vanilla Oud which is stunning too.

TunyaPe

Neutral rose (not powdery, jammy, deep, watery) and smoky woody oud. I also get chypre oakmoss especially around the opening. Quite classic but not outdated. Westernised design with quality. Definitely not mundane (because chypre oud???) but doesn't really stand out to me.

the combination of rose-oud keeps bewitching me. here there is above that the superelegance of the Maison Cartier which lends this perfume a hauteté and facettuousness that is simply heaven. the oud has thousand faces and which other capricious flower has the power to withstand and covariate. Dusita's Oudh Infini and the Montales, Thirty Three from Ex Idolo and Thierry de Gunsberg's both Terryfic Ouds (and Extrème) all contribute to this microniche. this Cartier perfume is regal, as are (the first) Panthère, Must, Must II. what a Joy (Patou) it is to be parfumista. I smell whirlings of the two forces of nature the Rose and this Oud.

Oud in this is on the animalic side and to my nose smells almost 💩y. Defenetly not wearable for me. Rose is very nice in this though but my nose cannot pass that 💩y oud. Too much for my taste. I will pass on this. Defenetly try it before you buy it. It's a very expensive fragrance to blind buy it. Don't make my mistake 🙃
The dry-down is much better in terms of 💩iness.

Djedi

Classy rose and oud combo. The rose is sweet but not sickenly so. It's more jammy, a tad soapy but very well done. The oud isn't nearly as animalic as say Oud Ispahan. It's a blend which has been done countless times at this point but this one is nicely done by Laurent. Unisex. Pricing is ridiculous but there's nothing you can do about it.

This is a yin yang fragrance. On one side you have a beautiful rose note that is fresh, jammy, realistic and deeply floral. On the other side is the oud which is musky, dirty, and animalic verging on being fecal. They compliment each other perfectly as you need something dirty to off set the clean, just as you need something ugly to counter the beauty.
If you spray too much or inhale too deeply right after spraying, you may hate this. This is a pure parfum and the complexity of the notes might smack you right between the eyes. This is created to get gentle whiffs from a proper distance. If applied correctly in the right environment, this becomes a masterpiece. I find this fragrance gorgeous and classy in a way that only Cartier can create. I can understand the $400 price point because it smells like a million dollars. I find this both masculine and feminine, as it's all in the way you want to interpret it. In spite of the costs this will always be in my collection, It's that good.

Opens with a lovely jammy rose note, with a touch of alluring fecal oud and gradually settles into a musky rose that seems to have some white floral undertones (or perhaps the rose is a white rose note). The musk is rather strong and has a slight urinous undertone.

My taste has just began to evolve from generic fruity citrus scents to oud and darker scents. I bought a small size to try and this may be my favorite oud so far. What i love about it is that you can smell the rose the entire time. It does not fade or get overrun by the other strong notes. It is truly beautiful. I was planning on buying a full size BUT I cannot pay 400 for a bottle of perfume. I think instead I will order about 20 of the small sizes from fragrancenet.com for 7.00 each, and just keep reordering them as needed. Much cheaper option.

fresh rose chypre with animal facet... where's oud?

SweetSoul

Oh my goodness this is beautiful! Oh I love it. It's so very feminine for an oud perfume. The rose is exquisite! The oud is gentle and sweet and together with the gorgeous rose, well - absolutely wonderful.

Fragrance Review For Oud & Rose Cartier

Notes Agar Wood Oud Rose

This is lush luxurious smoky balsamic Oriental Arabic style oud scent. It has a lot of perfumy aromatic oud similar to other ouds I've enjoyed. The rose is clearly there and it gives the scent just the littlest bit of powder. It's totally unisex and it feels nocturnal, sexy, aromatic, and mysterious. Everything I love about ouds is here. Cartier always delivers. It should be credited for more than just their jewelry masterpieces. They have many fine fragrances. This smells like a million bucks. I visualize a woman in Dubai or Beverly Hills in a drop dead gorgeous black evening gown something straight out of Oscar Night on the Red Carpet. This fragrance is best appreciated and enjoyed by oud lovers so you have to know how oud wears on your skin. This has an incredibly long life of two days and has superb sillage and it radiates and projects to everyone around you. Gorgeous, spicy, exotic and sexy. Loving it. Wearing it right now during my stay in Dubai.

This is an interesting take on the rose-oud combo.
This is a girlish take on the genre, light and somewhat fresher than many rose-ouds, which can lean to the oppressive, with a good deal more going on than just rose and 'oud'.

Longevity is excellent, with the rose notes predominating throughout.
The oud is not a medicinal oud, and lacks something of the depth and character one might generally expect. Another reviewer identified the oud used here as synthetic, and this may well be the case.
There are also musk elements, and something else that adds an extra sweetness that many will appreciate, but that I personally could have done without.

Unfortunately there is also an off-note (a little like decaying flowers) that I can't identify and which persists well into the lifespan of the perfume, making it much less enjoyable to wear.
Given the absolutely prohibitive price and the difficulty in actually tracking down a bottle in the first place, this probably isn't one to buy.
Although it is certainly an interesting experience for any rose-oud addict.

i smelled this at Neimans Marcus in Dallas about a year ago and fell in love but my question is WHO buys this at this price point! it is a very noticeable scent and you will get compliments out the ass but man the price point is the stinger..just cant passed it to even do a decent review.

LynnBarr

This is a heartbreakingly beautiful classic scent. It lasted on my skin for 18+ hours, and I can still distinctly smell it on my clothes from 2 days ago when a bit of the spray got on the sleeve. However, CDGfan is correct - there is no way this is worth $400. There are many other stunning rose scents available and I cannot believe anyone would pay sooooo much for this particular one. I tried the dupe from Hayward Ent and although not a 100% match, it is pretty close. For the price difference, I can live with it.

CDGfan

This has an authentic rose water nose blended with a nice synthetic oud molecule. The burnt sweet rose water effect is nice BUT for 400 USD, Cartier is batshit crazy. Swiss Arabian's Mukhalat Maliki CPO achieves the same effect and actually has more depth, and is a fraction of the cost of this.

scentymama

i can't get enough of this one. sweet, sweet, pungent love in a bottle.
