Weird chemical opening (maybe from the cheap oud) . Opening is green, earthy with a touch of sweetness in the back. Dries down to an earthy, resinous woody scent - meh, boring to be honest. Longevity if pretty mediocre also.

What was Atelier doing with this one? This smells so synthetic and chemically. Someone commented nail polish remover. Yeah that pretty much sums it up. Fruity nail polish remover. I don't even get much vetiver. Its a fresher vetiver, which I'm cool with but it's only a secondary player. Plum note is quite synthetic. This smells cheap tbh. Leans feminine, thats a bad thing, just pointing it out. Such a disappointment from a great brand. This almost seems too esay to pull off. Atelier does these fresh summer fragrances so well. Some of the best citrus scents in the game. I almost blind bought this just because it was Atelier. Glad I sampled. Maybe in the air it smells better but up close on skin it's a chemical mess. Really shocked Atelier took such a simple concept and somehow managed to mess it up.

Charismatically fatal

From the coments and reviews I've read here, everybody perceives VETIVER FATAL differently.
To me, the fragrance opens with a sharp Vetiver but after about 30 Minutes the vetiver fades away quickly and somezhing that resembles vanilla or benzoin takes over - like a very blended warm and cosy vanilla-like combination.
If it really is plum and violet, I cound't tell you... but i love it.

FragZappa

It's a bright and lively green vetiver. The longevity is poor. I use it around the house when I don't want to choke out the fam.

I think I quite like this fruity and floral take on vetiver. Top notes are very different to what it ultimately dries down to; in the bottle it smells harshly of lemon dish soap and nail polish remover, but as soon as it comes into contact with my skin a dry and woody vetiver emerges. The vetiver quickly mellows out and becomes greener and sweeter as the plum takes over. The violet is quite gentle but it is there in the background along with a floral citrus - the bergamot and/or orange blossom - unifying everything. It's definitely a masculine fragrance but has something feminine and youthful about it. This could be worn year round.

justcheckinout

I get lots of vetiver and violet leaf notes throughout the run of the fragrance. It starts with bitter orange and bergamot. Once the citrus notes are gone, there goes the vetiver, with its earthiness slapped in your face. I get a hint of the smoky facet in the vetiver too. The violet leaf note adds some freshness, stay there in the background until the earthiness of vetiver mellows down. There is some abstract sweetness in the woody drydown. It's probably coming from the plum and orange blossom, because I can't tell those two notes exist without looking at the listed notes. Perfectly unisex and inoffensive, suitable for hot weather.

juljan

different than but gives me a similar vibe to timbuktu. fruity somewhat aggressive 'exotic.'
a fragrance fruit salad. not sure it this should be classified as a vetiver. sure there may some vetiver notes buried in there. but i am not sure how many vetiver lovers will find this interesting or likeable.

OneBlueSummer

Wow no reviews in over a year? I love this stuff so much, a 10! Find me another perfect smelling balanced with niche quality, fantastic Segway away from Macy's too

Rafrosa

To my nose those, this is all plum and Vetiver. It is a rather sharp and dry smelling Vetiver. The whole thing comes across smelling a tad synthetic/chemical because of the Vetiver note. The dominant plum makes this fragrance lean feminine. The fragrance smoothes out and gets a little better in the dry down. I really wanted to like this one but it is not for me.

Hurrie4t

I love all perfumes with vetiver! Good, original, moderately durable

gedlive

I think this is a top 3 from Atelier Cologne.
It's a very enjoyable vetiver and violet at the heart.
The plum and orange along with citruses, makes it juicy and fresh.
There is a little nutty tonka like something in the mix. Making some compare it to Hermes Vetiver Tonka.
This reminds me of Terre de Hermes, but a little sweeter and with violet.

There is a synthetic ozonic note, that gives it an aqua vibe. This also reminds me of "He Wood" by Dsquared.
If you like fresh woody violet fragrances, give this a try.

God bless.

heidihelena

Fruity earthy vetiver with light floral notes. When it is cool outside it reminds me of Byredo Bal D’Afrique with citrus and fruits. Whereas I smell creamy fig when it is hot weather instead of orange blossom. For me and someone else Vetiver fatal is close to Philosykos EDP. I think it unisex perfume. Bal D’Afrique is more radiating and vibrant and therefore some might think it is more feminine. I do think they are equal at gender scale. Vetiver Fatal is a gentle everyday perfume to be used in professional settings daytime all year. Performance is moderate and it last 6-7 hours. It is a keeper 8/10. Vetiver is a note I really enjoy and this might be easy one to start your vetiver journey.

Enrium

Vétiver Fatale is a very pleasant vetiver scent, typical of the quality I have come to expect from Atelier Cologne. Light yet well-rounded, VF is a subtle and wearable unisex scent that makes the most of the vetiver note - its focal point. I'm not usually a fan of vetiver-dominant scents, finding it quite masculine and sometimes too herbal (looking at you, Frédéric Malle Vétiver Extraordinaire). Here, the vetiver is good quality and realistic. It is light and nicely nuanced - grassy and herbal initially, becoming more dry and woody as it progresses. Enhanced by other well-chosen notes that remain in the background, the vetiver really gets a chance to shine here.

VF is a fairly simple scent. It opens with damp, slightly herbal vetiver notes, enhanced nicely by a bright citrus accord. Here it is fresh and verdant, yet predictable. The violet leaf adds a beautiful green-floral edge (I adore a good violet note in perfume), giving a melancholic edge to the vetiver. Here, it feels ideal for a rainy day.

The plum note that emerges as it develops a little is a surprising addition - juicy and sweet, yet nicely restrained. Soft woody notes emerge as it dries down, which together with the grassy vetiver that remains, gives the impression of dry, woody vetiver. It fades to a woody-vetiver skin scent after a little while. Sillage is fairly intimate and longevity is moderate.

Perfectly unisex, this is the nicest vetiver scent I've tried bar Guerlain's legendary Vétiver. The performance, like other Atelier Cologne scents, could be better however. Still, a lovely transeasonal day scent. 3.5/5.

haddock

Vetiver Fetal perfume from Atelier Colon brand starts after spraying with the scent of wheezing plant. Gradually, the aroma becomes rich and cooked, which is caused by plums. There is another perfume from the same brand called Chambre Nougat, which is very similar to this perfume. The difference is that Chambre Nougat perfume is a perfume with a leather-like scent that is also for winter, and this perfume is very similar to Nougat Chambre perfume in its middle notes, and it is quite characteristic that you smell perfumes from the same brand. The reason for this analogy is the existence of plum notes.

anastasia.privalova

Aloofly beautiful, cold, melancholy vetiver — it smells of cool wind, wet soil, rotten wood, fallen leaves, ashes on an extinct fire, cooled tea with milk left on the veranda, sweet vermouth with a hint of bitter on the finish, dried grapefruit, and orange peels. Perfumer Jérôme Epinette trapped a fleeting moment of life in the amber, frozen in its transient beauty and inexpressible sadness. The violet leaf note only emphasizes the impression of isolation and detachment in this picture.

SniffingAddict

Lovely, fresh, not too crisp, not too sharp betiver that just makes me feel FRESH and slightly woodsy.

I’d heard this compared to Byredo Bal D’Afrique. To me, this is slightly more herbal and Bal D’Afrique is stronger on the citrus and spice.

Right now it’s in the 70s and I find Vetiver Fatal more wearable whereas Bal D’Afrique is too strong.

Both really lovely scents.

FMilan

A light fruity woody scent. Imo, not unissex, but genderless. A good scent, a decent perfume. Not groundbreaking, but not ordinary at all. I like it a lot. Easier than Bal D'Afrique and, in my opinion, better. But on this "range", Vetiver Tonka is the best choice and - no wonder - the priciest.

straychev

Here's a very honest review about my first and probably last Atelier Cologne:

I kind of got tricked into blind-buying this fragrance as I kept reading how similar it is to Byredo's Bal d'Afrique. I absolutely love Byredo's Bal d'Afrique, but due to it's floral notes I can't see myself wearing it. I had numerous samples and I just didn't feel comfortable with such a floral scent. It leaned too feminine for my taste. That's why I kept researching what smells close to it and found this. I was tricked to believe they are twins. In my opinion they aren't. If I have to rate how close they get - probably would be 3/10.

Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal is overall a good fragrance which seems to be very linear from start to finish. There's not much change from initial spray to the dry down. In terms of silage - it's a weak, close to the skin scent which doesn't project much and does not leave a massive scent trail. But there's an upside to all this - it makes it a great office-safe scent. I would have appreciated it a bit more if I could still smell it on my skin after 3 hours... I literally spray myself 6-7 times with it and after 2 hours it's barely noticeable on a warm day (24C). I can easily see myself wearing this in the summer (not so much in Spring/Fall as it's being voted here). In a way I am glad I only got the 30ml bottle as it was a blind buy and in a way I am slightly disappointed from what it turned out to be and what I was expecting.

I have to say that I am impressed with the packaging and the little leather pouch it comes in. I feel like the leather pouch smells and emits more than the perfume itself 😆

Longevity: 4/10
Silage: 4/10
Smell: 8/10

Overall: 6/10 (because it's still a nice scent, but lacks a lot of qualities)

If you like this, you might also like Carven Pour Homme, which is a variation of Creed Green Irish Tweed.

ingeneuxo

-Opens sweet-smelling with a hint of citrus.
-Leans feminine.
-Might be my favourite vetiver scent thus far.
-Longevity is lacking. Turns into a skin scent within the hour.

*Update*
-Shares a similarly sweet note to Mimosa Indigo by Atelier.
-Dry down leans masculine...vetiver gives it a 'dry' vibe that reminds me of tobacco.
-Not fbw. (-)

Andy the Frenchy

What I get right on the top is a strong fig (supposedly plum) with orange. To my nose, the vetiver appears only in the drydown, as a secondary note. Shares similarities with the fruity vetiver from other brands (Byredo Bal d'Afrique, D&G Velvet Vetiver...).

A man can wear it easily, but to my nose, it is quite feminine - unisex at most. Performance is average. Nice, but not quintessential, and I wouldn't spend more than the ~$50 that ebay asks for a 100ml bottle.

Spring/Summer days, mostly for women 20+

MattiasHansen

Not really a vetiver fragrance. i get a very faint aromatic profile, very clean, with a soft fruity core of plums but overall very meh and uninteresting. A sample i got with purchase from AC. Cant believe how these are hit and miss for me, but most of their citrussy fragrances are so weak on me that they are not worth is. I pick up no earthy vetiver here at all. Very linear fragrance with no transition from opening to dry-down.

Girllovesvinyl

It is a very nice, comforting, refreshing woody citrucy smell for me. great for hot summer days.I enjoy wearing it myself but I would love to smell it on a guy.

NDStars

First blast of a vetiver and bergamot bomb. Quickly dries down to a pleasant woody lime which unfortunately is disappearing fast from my skin. Taking its place is an increasingly medicinal woody base that I'm not liking more and more. Sigh.. if only it stayed in that woody lime heart phase. Unisex and best for warm weather days.

6+ hours later: A faint woody scent remains.

Coquita

VF opens with a super-strong citrusy scent, but then the violet leaf and the plum pick up, and it becomes the most creamy, citrusy-woody fragrance I've smelled so far. Unfortunately, this phase lasts only a couple of hours (while the projection is still strong), and soon it becomes just another vetiver cologne. It's still quite pleasant, and it can work nicely in the summer months, it's only that what was before was heavenly. I must have a problem with AC fragrances, as I usually love the opening, but then I'm left underwhelmed: looks like a lousy marketing strategy.
Projection is moderate, but the lasting power is great for a cologne, 12 h, and counting.

I guess I'm one of the very few that get 0 similiarities between this one and Bal d'Afrique :

ptsau

I like it but not loving it. Good scent but not so unique after I tried others and bad performance. Only last 3 hours MAX and weak projection. Don’t worth the money. I use it to spray my bedroom and bathroom as I want to finish the bottle.

severelain

I was instantly reminded of Bal D'Afrique. I mean, it is tough to get away from that comparison. If you have that, this is completely redundant. If you don't, i think this a less pricey alternative that doesn't skimp on the quality.

ScentedWalrus

One of My favorite vetiver scents. Easy to wear. Perfectly unisex. A little bit fruity in the opening. I use it at work pretty often.
The drydown is quite close to Byredo Bal D'afrique. But Bal D'afrique opens up a bit more feminine with floral notes. My wife prefers Byredo but I prefer Vetiver Fatal for me. But we both use it.
I don't like Tom Ford Vetiver at all. So I can't say Vetiver Fatal is similar to Tom Ford. Yes, both are Vetiver scents but not that similar.
Vetiver Fatal is actually my favorite of all Atelier Cologne fragrances. I have samples of all of them. Many are good but Vetiver Fatal is one of the few I bought a full bottle of.

gtabasso

green, vetiver, lime/citrus; reminds me of Jo Malone Lime Blossom but deeper with a bunch of vetiver added; clean shower-fresh scent

NoelleLovesScents

I blind bought this one, but unfortunatelly wasn't love at first sniff. It's not unpleasant, but it just doesn't do it for me. I smell a prominent fig note in there, even though there is none in the notes.

dominicgoyer

I love the opening of this one but not necessarily where it lands.
The few minutes are crisp and masculine then turns into something a bit soapy.
The reviews are comparing to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Byredo Bal d'Afrique.
Here are my two-cents on the comparison:
Vetiver Fatal is like the little brother of the family.
Bal d'Afrique is the big sister, Grey Vetiver the big brother.
Vetiver Fatal is less fruity and sweet then Bal d'Afrique, scent I love but couldn't wear.
Grey Vetiver have a an overbearing opening but settles nicely, yet quite loud and manly. Vetiver is like the shy brother of this.

marcel2782

Vetiver with salivating plum top, well tuned with lemons and beautifully finished by a touch of violet leaf. Great job from the perfumer to ensure a good result out of a strange combination of plum, citrus combo and violet flower. At dry down, resembles TF Grey Vetiver (EDP), with small differences: in the TF the orange has the same volume as the vetiver, while here the vetiver is in smaller volume, assisting the fruits. It has superior performance albeit slightly lower quality than Bal D'Afrique. Over the past years I got sick'n'tired of this citrus-vetiver combo trend, but for those who didn't, it's one the best options. I don't think this can be put aside Vetiver Tonka for comparisons because the last has no citrus whatsoever.

polaroidcaesar

A bright, luminous vetiver fragrance that balances the grassy, fresh aspects of the root with a dash of earthy bitterness. Plum provides fruitiness à la Bal d'Afrique, and while there is definitely a big similarity between the two, Vetiver Fatal is far less floral and far more unisex. Contributing a bit more of a masculine character to the blend is a very present violet leaf note (to my nose). This fragrance is also far soapier than Bal d'Afrique. Nevertheless, this is still quite unisex and quite lovely - a grassy, soapy, fresh, slightly fruity, and clean fragrance that is sure not to offend even the most sensitive noses. Performance is nothing to write home (or on Fragrantica) about, but is definitely a little bit better than Atelier's citrus centric fragrances (and better than Bal d'Afrique), with around 6 hours of longevity and mild projection and sillage in an air conditioned office environment or a warm, not blazing hot day. I wore this on a humid early September day here in Taiwan and the fragrance was little more than a distant memory on my skin by the time I had arrived at work a mere 15 minutes later. Worn appropriately, though, you can squeeze a little bit more out of it. Overall, I enjoy Vetiver Fatal, but I don't think that I'll be buying a fb after my decant runs out, unless I can find a good deal on the discounters. My favorite fresh vetivers remain Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver, Ormond Jayne Zizan, and Lalique Encre Noire Sport.

7/10

mohmd.taha

Really one of the best vetiver fragrances, there is some similarity with vetiver Tonka but I think Vetiver Fatal is way better much wearable

SailorV

This is not fatal, it's a soft, slightly sweet, likeable vetiver. It opens with zesty citrus and fresh green grass. Then a fruity note joins in. Fragrantica lists plum, but on another site I found a fig note which makes so much more sense to me. The fruitiness in this is dense and milky, just like figs are. I also get something refreshing and aquatic, like cucumber and melon.
In the drydown I thought that this smelled like a male-marketed version of Versace Crystal Noir could smell - I know, this sounds weird, and it doesn't SMELL like Crystal Noir, it just has the same texture that is at the same time light, lush and watery but also warm and heavy.

Overall Vetiver Fatal smells relaxed, natural, green, woody and outdoorsy to me. Vetiver is often used in masculine fragrances, but this is perfectly unisex, not even as aromatic as many other Ateliers can be in the drydown. Like many of their fresher and citrussy colognes, this is not the greatest performer. Not my style, but a nice scent.

galoguiu

Nice perfume and an excellent choice for summer. The vetiver here is pretty smooth. Very good longevity on my skin. Thumbs up!

darrenwrite

This is a very wearable vetiver fragrance. It has a soft scent profile and just enough freshness to make it casual wear. It is quite similar to TF grey vetiver but without the pepper notes. The performance was surprisingly good on my skin.

steco

It is pleasant but a little too sweet. It is really intense to be a cologne. 2 sprays are enough for me, 3 are too many, for its excessive sweetness. Not bad but may be coming back I wouldn't Have bought it.

S G

Simply Put, its a Easy to wear scent.

Formal, casual, to a date or to work. whatever it is it works fine. much like tom fords Grey Vetiver EdP.

I get a Bright opening of Citrus, Clean soapy vetiver and a hit of Plum.

in the dry down, i smell a clean, slightly woody vetiver/violet leaf.
To me it smells slightly floral.

Solid compliments on it, but nothing that wows people.

Me, I've got a 30ML bottle, I mainly use it as a "safe" fragrance when i know I'm going to be around people who dislike fragrances or are easily offended.

SmellMyCheese

Tested from advent calendar sample.

Fairly light inoffensive scent for the most part but with some unique facets. I’d say it offers a nice understated quality that I found in Vanille Incensee too.

The vetiver earthiness is there and the plum note is quite prominent and while it is more of a unisex plum than the slightly feminine one I found in TF Vanille Fatale I do find it a little cloying at first.
It needs time to die down somewhat to make this a nice scent imho.

Once it dies down it is good and I think office friendly as its quite light and doesn’t push into people’s space but just envelopes you, leaving sillage in place rather than radiating around the room.
But I’d say the overall scent is edging on the daring for a man perhaps. I think younger men can pull this off better in the office, this is non-traditional as the plum and violet combination is unique for a man to wear but then the dry vetiver pulls it more masculine.
I then think it is a little daring for the office for a woman too for the flipside reasons.

As an aside perhaps, I feel like if they had added mint notes to this frag too I would have loved it, it feels like that might have mixed very well with violet to balance the darker plum and earthy vetiver and brighten it a touch.

Good but I don't think bottle worthy for me. I would like to get my nose on Bal D'Afrique first at least and compare. Edit: I got a decant of Bal D’Afrique and I prefer the Fatal, it is less synthetic smelling and more masculine.

Dirtyhoody

The opening is a bit unpleasant. It needs a minute to become something resembling a fragrance. Otherwise this is a great casual fragrance. I'm going to get a lot of wearings out of this. At least until something else captures my attention.

masmoz

Fabulous scent ,a piece of art, really deserves its name "Vetiver fatal".
Yea it has a spectacular charming fatal character behind its soft and clean face like a poisonous beautiful green snake camouflages amongst green woods.
First you smell it feels like you are facing a sweet and fresh safe scent but not too far later you'll see its bitter poisonous seducting face when Ahhhh man thats too late you are trapped in its charming fatal air...

Contains high quality vetiver the same quality as creed and tom ford but contrary to the other vetivers it has an amazing character which totally differs it from other vetivery perfumes.

yellow_tulip

First of all, Bal d'afrique is MUCH more floral than this. I don't think much resemblance is there.

Secondly, what is it about plum that I love so much? I can't really smell much of plum here but it give just the right amount of sweetness to this. I am not usually impressed by vetiver but this composition just works so well. It's simple but great.

Aleccsei

To my surprise, it's a very warm fragrance. The plum is really there and dominates the fragrance.

Interesting twist with the plum - great !

clintjr82

This is my 2nd best Atelier cologne, behind Musc Imperial. This is a classic. Well done. This is a Fresh,Clean, Vetiver slightly Plum scent. Its way more masculine to my nose. I bought it, the 6.7 oz bottle. Tested it and I got attention. Simple, if you like Tom Fords Grey Vetiver you like this.

pamelalasalle110

OMG, my absolute favorite from the Advent calendar vials. Wonderful combination of fragrant vetiver and "figgy" plum. This fragrance makes me happy, when i get the full size it bound too be my signature. The citrus and wood notes are nicely balanced with the main notes and give longingevity to the fragrance. The sillage is good as well. I love this fragrance.

atarilynx

I wore this today to work after not using it for months... And I had a smile on my face all day. Such a pleasant and comforting vetiver / plum scent. It is unisex, but I feel it leans masculine. It is sweet and not dry. It lasted 6 hours on me even though I could still smell it on my skin after even 12 hours (faint).

It is definitely Decant / sample worthy to see if it works for you

PeterF

Reminds me a lot of a way back discontinued Davidoff Good Life.

Duskfall

I'm with Derover on this one. The first impression is fascinating, but it becomes boring pretty quickly. It's a fruity sweet and fresh vetiver. Very organic and green. To me it smells mostly like fig, but I suppose it's the combination of vetiver and plum after all.

Linear progression, average performance. A solid unisex choice for spring and summer, although nothing spectacular.

Guinea54

I have a bottle of this stuff for sale if anyone is interested. I won 60ml decant of this, and it is enough for me.

This is a very light, pleasant and transparent fresh vetiver fragrance. I am not even into vetiver as a note but this one pulls it off nicely. The vetiver is nicely blended and doesn't sound dirty. I get the citruses and a little of that fruity plum note, but the plum to me isn't super over powering or dominant. It just adds a mild fruity backbone. I would say this fragrance is a clean and very well blended concoction of citruses, fruit and vetiver wrapped in a light woods.
Scent 4/5
performance 4/5

Derover

I bought it after my first impression then I got bored after 2 weeks.. couldn't use it anymore...

Neia

Totally agree with Super Sniffer.

Viaggio D'Africa is in my opinion the least favored of these four since that one on my skin has an overwhelming and lasting tone of anise.

On me Vetiver Fatal is the one with the least sillage and longevity.

To me the one most similar to Vetiver Tonka.

rjf

I like vetiver. I like plums. This smells like vetiver and plums. It's almost good. It's not really doing it for me, but I wouldn't say that it's fatal.

scentitar

Quite the elegant and modern take on a vetiver fragrance here.

Overall you get a full, modernly sweet and likable vetiver fragrance that still remains business appropriate and leans masculine in my opinion.

For men who liked terre d'hermes, but wanted something more casual or cant stand any kind of usual party fragrance.

Quite good and recommended to the green fragrance boy club

age 30 plus

perfumeproblem777

Easily one of my favorite smells right now. It's fresh, spicy, and the drydown is slightly creamy and settles down into my skin beautifully. Lasts for at least 8 hours, and is gorgeous through the entire development of the fragrance, leaving me wanting more. This scent is so perfect right now for the start of summer, and will probably be just as perfect in the fall. I'll definitely be saving up some money for this beauty.
Keep shining, you beautiful people.

Rosey007

I have a huge 6.7 oz bottle of this for sale. Shipped directly from the New York Atelier Cologne Boutique. 97% full!!! PM me if interested.

Docjason

Does anyone find its similarity with body kouros? I get the same vibe with this one at the opening

Super Sniffer

Just wanted to throw this out there in case people were wondering the differences, as I too had the same question.

Vetiver Tonka: Sweet, Hazlenut, Vetiver, airy

Vetiver Fatal: Dryer, Fruit (plum), Vetiver, tad fresher

Bal D’Afrfrque: Sweeter, Powdery, vetiver, dense (IMO leans feminine)

No experience with Viaggio D’Africa

assim.hayderi

At first it is very dark with loads of vetiver only, which is not really enjoyable but after a while (approximatley 10-15 mins) it becomes a bit sweeter and much more enjoyable and at that moment it is very similar to Bal d'afrique, if not identical. I believe this one has a much better projection than Bal d'afrique and the price is similar. I would pick this one 10 out of 10 times instead of Bal d'afrique.

Scent: 9/10
Projection: 8/10

I received Vetiver Fatal in my monthly Scentbox subscription. This is definitely green, woody, earthy vetiver all the way with a bit of plum. It smells great but leans too masculine for my taste. I'll pass this on to my boyfriend. It should smell wonderful on him.

ewalkzz

If you love vetiver, you'll love this. This is a lovely green, intriguing perfume. The violet leaf makes it a no-go for me, however.

Not everyone will love this but if you like a green, niche perfume - this may be for you!

Cloying like some of the A.C.'s are to me and I can't smell the vetiver.

I think its a masterpiece..Sweet plum + violet leaf + fresh vetiver at the end...its just the most beautiful scent i ever smelled..its sweet, romantic and clean at the same time...it performs well too on my skin. I get about 3 hours of good projection..and 10+ hours of longevity

For me its Simply 10 out of 10

I ordered this and Santal Carmen from samples. I was not so excited about Vetiver Fatal when first sampled, now it is my second favorite Atelier after Musc Imperial.
It is a very unusual vetiver, I have many.
The only fragrance that reminded me of this from over 300 reviews is He Wood Rocky Mountain. Because of the vetiver, violet, musc. But this is so more refined with better quality notes.
This is more fruity than Rocky Mountain. It is in the genre of Creed Vetiver Geranium, but better, a fresh fragrance with more... The plum and violet go so well together. It's a bit on the sweet side, not too much.

The main players are vetiver and violet leaf, which are an unusual vetiver combo. Then you have the bergamot, orange blosom, and plum which give it that light Atelier Cologne feel.
So it's an unusual fruity vetiver that's not too sweet, very well done. This is a signature worthy fragrance. I like this better than Creed Vetiver Geranium, the freshness is similar, but Vetiver Fatal has more aromatic sophistication.

This is like Atelier's Our Saphir, but Oud Saphir falls short in trying to be a more serious Oud fragrance. Vetiver Fatal is not pretentious, and comes off better and more sophisticated than the simple fresh vetiver it claims to be.

I got the impression of lime for the nice fresh citrus here, but non listed. The citruses are secondary, this is more than an Atelier citrus freshy.

I've taken a liking to Vetiver but this is something special. I really can't compare it to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but its right there if not A STEP ABOVE IT! THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! Its tricky cause the vetiver doesn't show up until a good 15 minutes after the initial spray & it just gets better & better as time passes. At first i get a woody citrus vibe that transitions into a more masculine take on vetiver that I believe is AMAZING! I can smell some citruses in the background & some oud that i thing is giving it the scent that masculine feeling. Definitely a must have if you're into Vetiver...

Just purchased this and fig is listed on the box as one of the main ingredients. Why is there no fig in the list of notes above?

Tlund

Vetiver is not usually a note I would seek out in a fragrance because it tends to be a little "sharp" in the compositions I'm familiar with, but the vetiver here is well-balanced and blended with the other notes: plum, bitter orange, cedar and oud. Oud is another note I don't care for in high doses, which is why I'm glad Atelier used just a dash to compliment the vetiver.
I use this alone and as a base for other Atelier fragrances that have similar orange/cedar notes: Orange Sanguine and Trefle Pur. It also blends nicely with Rose Anonyme and Vanille Insensee. Give it a try!

Vetiver Fatal was an unexpected surprise when I first tried it a few years ago! To me, it's just a gorgeous syrupy vetiver with plummy jam. I love vetiver fragrances--everything from the fresh greens to the dark and dirties--but the ladies in my life (mostly my fragrance borrowing daughters) aren't quite as fond of them, although they will occasionally borrow my Original Vetiver.

At the time, I recall wanting a bottle of Chanel Sycomore, but I decided Encre Noire was a suitable alternative (for my vetiver fix) along with picking-up Vetiver Fatal since I liked the notes, it received good reviews, and I wanted to round-out my vetiver collection. I have been very happy with my purchase.

This fragrance smells fantastic but it may disappoint if you're expecting a "Fatal" (namesake) vetiver fragrance. The opening (which fills a room) can lean a bit on the feminine side for the first few minutes, but the drydown is really nice albeit light on the vetiver, to some, because it is the smooth/clean variety versus dark, dirty, rooty vetivery. The ladies absolutely adore this scent! In fact, my daughters often absconded with my bottle and it may be one of their favorite Spring/Summer fragrances. Performance is excellent in that this fragrance lasts 8-hours on my skin and projects a bit above average (really pushes out the first hour).

Vetiver Fatal is an excellent fragrance that men and women will enjoy smelling. While I will probably continue reaching for dependable vetiver scents like Grey Vetiver, Terre d'Hermes and Guerlain Vetiver when I'm in a vetiver mood, occasionally locating my bottle of Vetiver Fatal is a refreshing change of pace. In retrospect, perhaps they should rename this juice "Vetiver Fatal Attraction" because I certainly get excited when I smell it on the ladies.

It's quality is moderate and absolute not a Wow.
It is good for summer only and if not citrusy fragrances have not character.

Jerome Epinette revisits his masterful composition Bal d'Afrique, this time with plum and violet leaf in place of blackcurrant and marigold. While BdA is sweeter and lighter, Vetiver Fatal is richer and fuller. In both, vetiver only becomes prominent well into dry down. I prefer BdA because it's easier to wear, and I tend to be put off by prominent plum notes. Try both if you're interested in a sweet, fruity, light vetiver.

Kerryd504

wow...

the vetiver doesn't come in until later in the game. i'd say at haftime. those fruity notes pre-vetiver are awesome. this is a good one imo. one of my favorite vetivers and probably has knocked tom ford gv edp down a spot.
can be worn in the warm to hot weather, day or night. work or play. dressed up or down. i love it

very unisex . lasts about 8 hours on me and projects about an armlength.

overall imo 9/10

Tested this at the Sephora store. Thrilled, however that wasn't enough to warrant a purchase.

Have since purchased Santal Carmin, Rose Anonyme, Silver Iris, Rendez-Vous, Musc Imperial, Tobacco Nuit, Cafe Tuberosa, Camelia Intrepide, and Gold Leather from this brand and i love what they are producing; figured if I were to purchase it would be at a great deal...well the time and deal has come....

Acquired a 200ml for $60 (can you believe it-60 bucks) just couldn't pass it up.....

Atelier did a wonderful job on the construction of this Vetiver in my opinion!!! Not your typical in your face dry, pungent green, acidic Vetiver, but a more crisp, lighter, citrusy Vetiver fragrance with balanced sweetness; almost reminds me of Dolce & Gabana Homme (original) in the opening..."just slightly!!!" Reminds me of the sweetly greens in Molton Brown's Navigation Scent Apuldre (although different Apuldre has a minty green, whereas Atelier has a calm sweet green)!

IMO a masculine fragrance; right out the gate I would give this an 8/10 rating!

Great juice; will submit a more detailed review soon!

[Update-detailed review 4/8/17]
Vetiver Fatal as mentioned previously, is a fresh/crisp vetiver with nuances of fruits in the mix. As with all Atelier fragrances, one does not need to rub in or ones hands together once sprayed as there is an oily texture that settles on the skin after having been sprayed that I believe gives off the aroma for hours on in if left alone to settle.

In addition to the crisp fruity aroma this gives off, there is such a light airy feeling that accompanies to the extent that it feels very summery and green, yet subtle and soft.

Vetiver Fatal notes, Violet leaf, Bitter orange, Sicilian lemon, Black plum (although I don't really smell this note individually) really works together giving off this fruity combination. By far, this is one of the most intriguing and gorgeous green masculine fragrances out there!!
The Bergamot, Haitian vetiver, Texan Cedarwood, and Oud really highlight the vetiver giving it a somewhat spicy (from the Oud), yet distinct green appeal. Unlike Mugler's Cologne, Vetiver Fatal is sweetly green with a touch of fruity citrus, with a very crisp finish. Mugler's Cologne is green, fresh and clean with a nice soapy finish.

My only drawback is with Vetiver Fatal's longevity-so disappointing to say the least! 2-3hours max and no where to be found! A great fragrance, however I am glad I didn't pay the full asking price as that would only add insult to my already injured disappointment! Great fragrance but it just doesn't stick around long enough to enjoy. 200ml bottle for 1/4 of what it retails for, I will probably use this up fairly quickly as one needs to reapply so I am not terribly bummed. This just gives me more reason to do just that!!

Maybe for summer use only?? Sprayed at 7:00am undetectable by 10:00am, maybe earlier had I been intentional in trying to smell it...Arghhh!!

A soapy vetiver citrus based juice.
I feel something strange about this. Not hating or liking it.have bought a bottle of VF based on positive and hyped reviews around it and I fell regretful.Have had many vetiver based frags in my library and at this range still prefer gery vetiver and noble vetiver.
Longevity and sillage and price tag all moderate;)

My secretary wears this. It's nice for a woman or metrosexual guy. I dislike unisex scents for myself, so although it's nice, there's nothing masculine/manly about it. It does seem to have lasting longevity and the projection is above average. When she enters my office I get whiffs of it, and it's a pleasing scent. Very nice for the spring.

Phytrox

Utterly beautiful, soft, spicy, creamy, similar to Allure Edition Blanche in its smoothness, lovely orange citrus smell with fresh cut masculine wood in the background.

I can detect every single listed note in here.

Not sure about longevity, assuming 4-6hrs as it often is with these very natural scents.

Smell itself is 9/10 for me.

kanak

Vetiver Fatale is beautiful. it's a very bright, uplifting kind of fragrance. Initial notes are a sweet, citrus punch from the lemon and bergamot notes. These then get sweetened pretty strongly by the Rich Plum note layered with orange blossom and violet leaf on the side , and the woody Cedar n Vetiver keeps the fragrance lean and clean so to speak. This slightly citrusy plum and Vetiver combination is the heart of the fragrance and it stays this way for a long time. I dont get any oud note per se but if it's there, it's probably the synthetic kind used as a fixative for the rest of the notes. The dry down is more woody and the sweetness from the plum becomes more of a hint.

Projection is good, pretty nice and strong for the first 3-4 hours. Longevity is around the 7-8 hour mark on skin for me in this winter weather which is great because this is not a "Heavy" frag and wearing it is an effortless joy. Two other sweet vetiver fragrances it reminds me of to varying degrees are Byredo Bal D'Afrique and Hermes Vetiver Tonka. Bal D'Afrique is very similar except it uses Black currant to VF's Plum. Vetiver Tonka is slightly sweeter with it's use of caramel and praline notes added to the tonka bean with none of the fruitiness. On me atleast, Vetiver Fatale performs better than the other 2 for longevity. If you like either Bal D'Afrique or Vetiver Tonka, check this out as chances are you will love Vetiver Fatale. Also if you are looking for a Vetiver frag but dont want to go down the Citrus- Vetiver route like TF Grey Vetiver and Dueto Citiver or the Woody - vetiver route like Lalique Encre Noir, Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatale is definitely worth a look. I love this fragrance and cant recommend it enough.

Beyonder

Perfect everyday scent. Very versatile and masculine cologne absolute. It would be great if it was lasting longer.

Amazing...Vetiver Fatal is clean, soapy, fresh, natural quality cologne , masterfully blended .
The projection is good and longevity is better
It is proper for using on days
This product is appropriate for warm weather
spring/summer
citrus and woody perfume.
best perfumes with base scent vetiver I have ever had..
100% unisex
it smells like Hermessence Vetiver Tonka..but without the tonka bean note.Less sweet and a bit more fresh.
also It smells similar to byredo bal di afrique at half the price.
it's super smooth with a signature citrus..
love it

i smelt this a while back and i hated it! it was cloyingly sweet with some dusty man-cologne in the back and it just felt like a gross dichotomy. i gave it a few months, and for whatever reason i decided to try it again and I'm really fond of this. it smells a lot like bal d'afrique, but i prefer vetiver fatale to that. BDA has this ugly opening that smells like walking into a body shop store and having your nose assaulted by indistinct fruits/sweets and an overall synthetic vibe. VF has a similar fruity vibe, but it doesn't get as explosive as BDA, rather citrus and plum combine to provide a sweet, creamy backing to the smoky, grassy, slightly bitter vetiver that stays throughout the duration of the scent. it projects for a 2 hours or so, but dies almost entirely after 3/4, so the longevity is unfortunately weak on me :(
i like this though, its a versatile scent and a nice introduction to vetivers (at least for me!)

Odie Cologne

I've been on a vetiver quest of late and have tried the following: Diptyque Vetiverio, Guerlain Vetiver, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Creed Vetiver, L'Occitan Vetiver and Vetiver Fatal.

Though there are some other great scents that may include vetiver as more of a supporting player, I'm not including those (ie. Terre D'Hermes).

Using the Guerlain as, not so much a reference, but as a baseline for a complete realization of all that vetiver has to offer (a complete accounting of all it's inherent notes or values), I find that certain aspects of it are simply to strident or bitter for my tastes. My favorites then are the ones who express what I love about the plant and subdue those inherent notes that I'm not so crazy about. I think that when creating a composition with this ingredient as a centerpiece, discretion is the better part of valor. In this regard, Creed is the best composed, beautiful and round. But my favorite has to be the Atelier, still wonderfully composed and yet revealing more of the positive aspects of leading player. Lighter and brighter than the Creed and fruitier than any of the others, it renders to a lovely and natural skin scent. It's a great and beautiful summer fragrance.

ConsumerThis

This is a very very different and unique take on Vetiver. I like it. I don't like Byredo BDA though. This is kind of it's own fragrance as I have yet to smell anything like it. Like a sweet aquatic Vetiver. Far from earthy and woody or spicy. The longevity is good and projecting isn't bad. Not femm or masculine, just a great smelling scent that I would not pass up . I would say great for the summer if you are one who wears things during seasons only.
Overall, due to the awesome price point, I will get a full bottle.

What a great scent. Its sweet and fresh. I honestly dont detect any oud. But i dont think i would want to. It's perfect for any occasion. signature, work, date, formal, even clubbing if you spray more. Its really good. And really unisex. I think its reasonably price for 200ml bottle. I heard Atelier sold the company, so i hope this fragrance doesn't change.

Center

This smells great -- but very familiar. If anyone has ever smelled YSL L'Homme Libre, this can be described as that, with a much more natural dry down. The violet leaf is strong with this one. It's a pleasant and energizing scent that should work well in every season.

landshark321

Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal is very reminiscent of Byredo Bal D'Afrique and Westbrook due to the common groupings of citrus, violet, and vetiver, to the point that I'd insist that someone try all three before making up their minds to buy any of them. As I've opted for Westbrook already, which I feel has a bit more allure to it anyway, I certainly wouldn't need to pull the trigger on Vetiver Fatal, but Vetiver Fatal is a nice fragrance in its own right--fresh and sweet due to the citrus, demure with the floral of the violet, and grounded in the earthy vetiver. An interesting try with well above average perforamnce for an Atelier, this is sure to make it to many's "top 10 vetiver" lists, and is a nice departure from the overly-fresh and short-lived trends of the house.

Standard retail pricing is $130 for 100ml, but it's seemingly widely available on discount sites, on FragranceNet for $116 for 100ml and even just $122 for 200ml, so there are deals to be had, but not by me, as I'm content with Westbrook and without Bal D'Afrique.

The opening is quite grassy and vegetal, with a bit of sweetness in the background. I prefer the dry down, which is more sweet and creamy. A somewhat unconventional vetiver fragrance, but one of my favorites. The only thing holding me back from buying a full bottle is the longevity, which is rather poor on my skin.

RickG

This is one of my favorite vetivers at the moment. Love the plum note in the background.

Wolfgang Mazrin

Orange dominates this scent. There is some lemon and floral notes on the top , but the body of the scent is Orange with a vetiver backing. I think this a Unisex fragrance. It is no where near as masculine as Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or Guerlain Vetiver. It is a sweeter, milder and softer scent.

If you are a guy and want a grassier, more masculine Vetiver you might want try Tom Ford GV or Guerlain. Still, this is a very nice scent made out of high quality and natural smelling ingredients. I think this is a great scent that leans toward the feminine.

I'm not an expert or something, but I've been doing this "hobby" for 2+ years and I can affirm that Vétiver Fatal is one of my all time favourite fragrances, EVER! I've got a crush on Atelier Cologne's Vétiver Fatal! True love for this one, I'll use it a lot more and try to write something more accurate as I can. Overall I give this a HUGE 10 out of 10.

This is my favourite "go-to" cologne!

Allen-at-home

Vetiver Fatal seems clean, almost soapy, except for that slightly pungent, vegetal vibe I love so much in a fragrance. (Except for a couple of exceptions, such as 212 for Men, I don't generally care for soapy frags.) I consider this well-blended because I simply cannot distinguish the plums from the rest of the notes, although I love the smell of plums. I don't mind saying I was about to give up on Atelier Colognes, before I found Vetiver Fatal. The slightly powdery feel ALMOST reminds me of iris, which I cannot tolerate (see Atelier's "Silver Iris"), but not enough to turn me away. In fact, I have definitely found a new favorite, and I don't say that very often.
Update: Vetiver Fatal is just too weak and watery, which seems to be typical of Atelier Colognes.

Allen-at-home

I can't believe Vetiver Fatal doesn't have fennel in it because it smells like mostly fennel to me. (I LIKE fennel.) This is only my very first impression (just arrived in the mail), but mostly fennel. Looking for that plum note, which is the main reason I ordered this sample, and a little disappointed I can't distinguish it. Still, very nice. Maybe I won't give up on Atelier JUST YET. :-) So does anybody else get fennel in this?

Sezyvex

A strange thing happened with this. I purchased a 100ml bottle and had it shipped all the way from Australia. I only tested it and a few weeks later, put it up for sale. It sold after a month's wait and as it sold, I had this deep regret...

A few months on, last week I found a 200ml at half the price of a 100ml and I just snagged it in the same breath! I am so grateful I did so because I love it!!

It is a very different rendition of vetiver and done so uniquely well. The plum and citruses go fruity together but not in a cheap way. There's a depth to this fragrance and it feels thick but never cloying. I get a faint syrupy oud but it is very much present in it as well as vetiver. I am sure there's something else in here which is hidden but I am no expert!

Longevity is pretty good on me. I get 6-8 hours and more although after 8 hours it does become close to the skin but it's still very enjoyable. Projection is slightly below average but after my experiences with niches, I don't care about that anymore. When you love something, you love it unconditionally!!

I think Oud Saphir from the same line is very similar to this although the plum is amped way up to take over the whole composition. I couldn't abide by it so had to get rid of it but this is just perfect!

Two other regrets;
1. Gold leather, I sold it and I feel so stupid for having done so, it was AMAZING AND I WANT IT BACK!! (BIG BOO HOO).
2. Bois Blonde 200ml was going for the same price as this and how stupid can I be... for that price I wouldn't have cared for it's performance as people have stated about it on here and I should have snagged it! When I decided an hour later, someone else did... (AN EVEN BIGGER BOO HOO!)

Word of advice, when you find great deals like these, SNAG THEM and don't sit and regret it like I did :'(

vergil_s

This is one of the best perfumes base on vetiver if not the best one!!
Instead of common earthy note of vetiver , we have refreshing and delicate smell from vetiver with fruity vibe.
It feels like you walking in a dewy jungle and lots of sweet and sour smell was in the air with smoky background.
And love the way vetiver smell in here.
It opens up with fresh and woody scent of vetiver that mix with delicious and sweet plum beside sour citrusy notes that smoky oud make it more balance and masculine.
after a while sour and dewy notes were disappear and you can smell woody notes in sweet fruity background.
Big thumbs up for atelier !!!

Sweetly Marie

I've just recently come back to Vetiver Fatal after a long hiatus from it. I used to find it entirely too overpowering and assertive; now I love it. It is a rich plum with spicy, woodsy undertones. For some reason, Atelier's website says it contains fig instead of plum. Weird.

LeauScent

I love this scent, it reminds me of the exhilarating essence of my beloved Gap Earth and Banana Republic Classic, BUT THERE IS NO SILLAGE, I hate when that happens!

RosieRachel

Not fatal, just lovely. This cologne is fresh, green and loaded with violet leaf, a hint of citrus and a hint of smoky oud. It's quite ozonic as well, from whatever note that may be. The violet leaves have a photorealism to them, a kind of crunchy textural smell and I love that. The base is a light and clean woody vetiver.

I wish I got something plummy here, because once again, I'm anosmic to this note. I have a couple of other samples with plum in them and the fruit revealed itself after a few wearings. I thought maybe it was a seasonal thing, but I think that I might have to start spraying a sock, storing it in a shoebox for a few weeks and then having a sniff, to get my nose used to the idea of plums (that sounds really tiring to have to do that for all of the plummy perfumes out there). Otherwise, for me, this isn't very sweet at all and is predominately a green scent.

Soft to moderate sillage; lasts for about 4-5 hours.

Johnnyacl

Another incredible fragrance from Atelier Cologne! Yes, it resembles Vetiver Tonka quite a bit, but in my opinion, the quality you get in terms of price, it´s great. One of my favorite scents!

Vondevelde

This scent is great! I would not describe it as a 100% clean scent like those Citrus based fragrances but it has such a beautiful earthy green scent to me.

I would compare this with the base of Green Irish Tweed (without the sprinkling lemon, iris and violets).

This is definitely worth a try for the Fougere and Earthy Green Woody fragheads!

8.5/10 and maybe even more in the future! Will use my decant till the last drop...

damightyheru

Smelled this at Sephoras and loved it at first sniff. I sprayed it on the wand and loved it from the beginning. Atelier Cologne is definitely a really good niche brand that unlike others, caters to and takes care of their fans. The deals/throw ins they offer are very customer friendly and is actually brilliant for an up and coming Niche Brand with quality great smelling frags.

Smelling Vetiver Fatal on my skin smelled a lot different than it did on the wand. Once it hit my skin I immediately thought of another Vetiver scent by Pal Zileri called Viaggio D'Africa. They are shockingly similar. Viaggio like Vetiver Fatal is also compared to Vetiver Tonka so these frags are very alike.

Viaggio is a lot more smokey to my nose however. Because of that I prefer it more. But Vetiver Fatal is a beautiful scent which exudes quality and makes a great impression when smelled by others. A suit takes scents like these to another level. As far as versatility goes this can be a year round work scent even though from the notes it appears to be better as a cold weather scent. Get your nose on this.

SNOOPY

As for the oud note I think they just put it n the notes to sell the juice nowadays.
I do detect some vetyver but it is faint, and light.its not overpowering but I could see some considering it a little on the feminine side.
It seems almost anything with the violet leaf note gives me a slight headache, except Tom Ford thankfully.
It is very pleasant and light but I would rather smell it on a girl than wear it myself.
I do get the plum ,reminds me of the Jon varvatos opening.
This is on the expensive side.

amir68

I truly agree with most of reviewers here. This is unlike many others vetivery frags that I've experienced so far. First of all you can absolutely exclude two notes here (Agarwood and Vetiver)!! They don't exist and if it's so then they are in tiny dose and far off. What I think of when I smell VF is creamy, oily, sweet alluring scent. violet leaf and plum combo is delicious and gives a buttery and sexy vibe to the scent. I love it.

aniwolfe

Incredibly addicting scent. Like some others, I also keep smelling my arm. This has a nice balance of plum and vetiver. The plum note to me has a little bit of a jam quality..on the thick side. This is not a light scent nor is it too heavy. Just perfect. Long lasting and moderate sillage. Using this in the hot Florida Sun and its works great.

onebadbaby

I just couldn't stop smelling my wrist when I sampled this in Harvey Nichols. Fresh, light and delicious.

ahmedzkhan

Love this scent. For those of you that love vetiver start to finish, this might not be for you. I get the vetiver at the tail end of the fragrance, not necessarily the dry down, but just as the scent settles on my skin, the vetiver comes thru. And, it's more of a smoky vetiver than say 'Grey Vetiver' by Tom Ford. That one is pure from the start, but this one, because of the sweeter notes added, plum, tonka, has more depth to it for mine. Saw that this reminded some people of 'Vetiver tonka' by Hermes; I can see the comparison, but the main differences I find are that vetiver is more pronounced in this one, and this is less sweet (which I like). Again, the plum adds the sweetness and it's just the right amount for me, not overpowering the vetiver, but combining with it for a uniquely earthy end result. Sillage is good for the first 30 mins or so, then settles very close to the skin. Longevity is not bad, but again, very close to this skin after the first hour or so.

RUDOLFO512

Vetiver Fatal is a delicious, fresh and invigorating fragrance. At first spray I detect some vetiver with fruity/citrus notes. The dry down is a creamy vetiver like none other. I love the way Atelier Cologne mixes the vetiver with the citruses. Usually vetiver based fragrances are bold and earthy. This one is not and I love it.

Vetiver Fatal Atelier Cologne " Relaxing Of The Soul"

its starts with nice soapy vetiver, fruity fresh plumy & citrus tone with a blast of ozonic senses in the background through a sweet buttery alluring aroma with smooth oud & woods in the base .
Its an modern symphonic, nice refreshing positive , beautiful every day or signature scent . which makes smile on the face & peaceful feel.
its natural & niche quality cologne , masterfully blended , with good longevity and sillage .

edit : this scent its more what I imagine and expect its master work & one of better green ( fresh musky vetiver's ) I tried to this moment as " symbol of elegance & beauty !

Relaxing aroma , captivating & refined .
9/10.

Fmorejon14

This fragrance its to me the best from this house. It smells very similar to byredo bal di afrique at half the price. Last 6-8 hours and projects well. It is a crowd pleaser and compliment getter. Ferrel williams is suppostly a big fan. The vetiver in this is sweet creamy and earthy. Cost abot 175 for 200ml bottle so not expensive at all for this quality juice

mhobba

Prominent citrus, neroli and violet leaf in the opening. Bright, green and refreshing. Then the plum and vetiver come out to play along with fairly non-specific woody tones as the scent dries down. This is definitely a skin scent, but it lasts a long time for a summer cologne.

FTW Nose

Havent worn this enough to make a good review of it, but so far I like Original Vetiver better.

My Score 7

magda14012

I got a 10 ml decant as a blind buy and I truly enjoy it. I could not get my head round a fruity vetiver:). Well, yes it is possible. The vetiver here is softly whispering, not harsh and messy.
I find the scent clean altogether. I can pick out the citrusy notes and sweet juicy plum is easy to detect.
Longevity and sillage could be better. On my skin it lasts approx 4 hours and stays close to the skin.

The "Fruity" Vetiver...

Vetiver Fatal by is a wonderfully sweet, plummy vetiver. It's not dry or too harsh like a lot of other vetiver fragrances, instead it's lush and sweet and fruity. Very nice!

It opens with a beautiful mix of citrus and violet leaf, giving a very "wet" impression, but is swiftly joined by a very sweet, juicy, almost "stewed" plum accord. The use of plum here is very nice as I don't see this note a lot in fragrances. It combines with the vetiver and stops it becoming too dry or too green. The greenness is still there, but it's sweeter (like a sweet, ripe plum), and in no way is it artificial.

Basically the impression I get is of a field in May where plum trees are growing nearby, and you can smell the grass and earth and hay, before going over to the tree and picking the fruit, which is full of (natural) sweetness, no artificial sugar, just a pure natural one... and it's like closing your eyes and smelling the plum, before putting it in your mouth and tasting the sweetness. This is the impression I get from this one. The smells of the sweet fruits of nature.

I think that maybe if you dislike very sharp, green fragrances and are looking for something a little "sweeter", then try this one out. I also think that if you have been trying vetiver fragrances and didn't find the right one for you, then give this one a try. I think that even a vetiver lover would like this one as it is a very playful, casual fragrance, but which can be worn in formal occasions too (basically anywhere). A lovely fragrance which reminds me of nature at it's finest. Good stuff!

This is my first vetiver fragrance in my collection, and it's even a gift from my friend which means I have never smelled it before.

The fragrance starts off quite green, it's almost as if you are standing in a garden. The grassy scent diminishes over time but remain as a noticeable component throughout the whole period. Citrus is also there but plays a relatively minor role.

As the name suggests itself, vetiver should be the dominant scent in the fragrance. In reality, the vetiver isn’t that strong. Instead, it is accompanied by lots of different scents including some wood and even a bit of vanilla.

The overall combination makes this a pretty special vetiver fragrance with citrus and sweetness. It’s hard to say everyone will like this fragrance but it’s definitely worth a try.

Excellent Review as usual Christianne!!!

There is nothing deadly about Vetiver Fatal. It is a nice and very safe, mainstream aquatic type cologne. Atelier makes very pure and natural smelling colognes. The quality is very good and this even survived a shower and several hand washings (I sample on the back of my hands). I don't have too much to say because I am not a fan of this ozonic style of fragrances. I like vetiver more on the order of Sycamore, Encre Noir and Vetiver Dance. This is way too gentle for my personal liking and the vetiver is very light to my nose. Vetiver Fatal has a bit of a 90s unisex feel to me which is just not my thing. I absolutely love Rose Anonyme so I got a full set of samples and am enjoying trying them but this one just isn't anything for me to get excited over personally. But keep in mind I didn't even get excited over Vetiver Tonka either. They are kind of in the same ball park to me. Different but if you like one you will probably like the other. And this one is MUCH cheaper. I am mainly writing a review to let others know this does fall along the lines of an aquatic so that others who feel about them like I do will have a bit of a warning. It smells nice though.

I desperately need to find a place to buy some of these samples from Atelier, especially this one! I've read and heard this is the signature scent Christophe Cervacel -founder and co-creator along with his wife.... Very very intriguing, but I'm tired of doing niche blind buys... The last one was over $375 and I was STUCK with it.......

I think I actually like this better than Vetiver Extraordinaire.
I love the citrus and fruit top notes. and the base that lingers is a really nice vetiver. It lasts forever, and I never forget I'm wearing it.
This could be the perfect go-to when I'm in the mood for vetiver.

Fruity vetiver -- who'd have thought it? Vetiver always struck me as a note you find with wood notes like cedar, sandalwood, etc. being of earthy, rooty, nutty, and aromatic qualities. In Vetiver Fatal, it is quite soft and mellow, very clean. The fruits are quite forward, and you can pick out the lemon/orange and plum, accompanied by violet.

Easily worn by men or women. Longevity seems a bit light, but no worse than the much more expensive "cousin" to this produced by Hermes -- Vetiver Tonka. I'm in full agreement in the shared vibe. There's no tonka bean in Vetiver Fatal, but the accords make you think so. I'll have to come back after a longer period of testing, but right now I'm feeling like this is a solid 8.5/10.

The first time that I tried this with a sample, I don't like it so much.
I tried it another time and I discovered an incredible frag.
Very good vetiver with light citrus and a sweet note plum. Very well blended and wearable in all seasons ans any time.

A must have to me and maybe a masterpiece.

Longevity and projection are very good.

scent: 9/10

This one has great longevity and the silage is amazing. This is very sharp and green with some great plum and grassy notes. You will only need 2 sprays. This is a good fragrance.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who had a "hmm" moment trying to reconcile the name with the fragrance. I'm not hating though, Vetiver Fatal is a nice fragrance. I guess that's the point though, it's nice.. nothing deep, dark or FATAL about it.
It's mostly a sharp, citrusy vetiver. No smoke to be found here. Violet leaf plays a major role. Rather clean, slightly fruity. The plum is fresh and not syrupy. I detect only the tiniest amount of oud.

Ziggy2012

This was a bit of a disappointment, when from the name and the notes listed, I expected a fragrance dominated by vetiver. However, to me, the vetiver is definitely not the most prominent note, although it is there as part of the base accord.

On my skin, the brief opening is characterised by the bright fresh citrus notes with violet leaf, superimposed on a darker sweeter background. That quickly passes and then in the drydown, I find it cloying and slightly sickly sweet, with what I guess is the plum, but completely overpowered by a very prominent floral sweetness from the orange blossom. Underneath that, there is a deeper darker and slightly heavier base of what I guess is the vetiver with oud. However the floral and fruity sweetness is too much for me, and I would consider this much more on the feminine side of unisex.

This is like a small basket woven from vetiver and a few strands of agarwood, piled high to overflowing with blossoms and a few plums. It seems to me predominantly a floral and slightly fruity fragrance. Late in the drydown the vetiver becomes more prominent but still qualified by a very noticable flowery sweetness.

It is also quite potent with noticable sillage. As with some other fragrances, the sillage seems actually more pleasant than smelling it up close. I can imagine this really working well on some women

I notice some have compared it to Vetiver Tonka. To me they are quite different. VT has much more obvious vetiver and the sweetness is edible and gourmand and not floral. The fruity note in Route de Vetiver is a much subtler sweetness and the vetiver more forward.

DresdenDoll

Vetiver Fatal is not quite what I expected for a fragrance with this name. I hardly smell any vetiver at all. What it is however is a very nice, green, plum scent.
The opening is quite green and bright and quickly the only real hint of vetiver makes an appearance, with a bit of roots and smoke. As this wears however the plum note really begins to shine. It's not sweet or sour exactly, just quite autumnal, this scent has a nice changing weather feeling to it. The plum really warms very nicely on the skin, and yet is a fairly cool note I feel here. Nothing sweet or floral about this for most of it's duration, it's just green and serene. However the ending is quite disappointing. An aquatic smelling cedar note pops out towards the end which quite ruins it for me.
A chilled out greens and fruit scent, but I'd look elsewhere for a good vetiver. However this is very good on it's own merits and is sure worth a try. Very good sillage and staying power too.

edge42

Definitely my favorite by far from Atelier, this smells like a much sweeter version of Terre D'Hermes EDP. As if you took TdH and injected it with a super-sweet sugary plum note. It's quite nice really, and it lasts a long time with good projection too. However I still find Terre D'Hermes the better, more interesting scent in this genre so for me Vetiver Fatale is a pass - despite the cool name.

Scrilla

This is a beauty. Still waiting for the dry down. I get a lot of vetiver, a strong green violet leaf and a sweet plum that drifts in and out. I think the plum is lying closer to the skin and will hopefully bloom in the dry down.
I really strongly do not find it similar to Hermes' Vetiver Tonka. I would liken it more to Bond no. 9 Washington Square Park.

Edit: I gotta say, the dry down was a let down. It got plummy-soapy. I will give it another go , however.

As raw_umber reviews below, Atelier Vetiver Fatal is indeed like the whole plum tree, fruit, leaves, wood, and root. There is some bergamot and orange blossom at the very top but that is shortly subdued by a dusky plummy note. The plum note isn't all that fruity - it has some of the bitterness of the plum skin in it and it is blended with herbal and woody notes that I imagine as the plum leaves and wood. Gradually the plum tree subsides and leaves a base that is a deliciously rich vetiver. I find vetiver almost impossible to describe (and all the descriptions I have read somehow seem to miss the mark), so if you are new to perfume appreciation you just have to get some vetiver oil and smell it yourself.

At first I found the name "Vetiver Fatal" strange, since it made it sound as if this should be some sort of ultimate VETIVER powerhouse, which it is not. Now I imagine that the intent of the name was closer to a siren song of sweet fruit and flower beckoning the sailor closer, only to be dashed on the rocks of vetiver (I love vetiver but it is not a sweet friendly smell - fortunately it is more like being bound with padded handcuffs by a naked X (your choice of gender) than actual rocky pain).

Later note - now I am again wondering about who is in charge of naming perfumes at Atelier. They make another one called Silver Iris that is all black currant, pepper, and patchouli, about as unsilvery and non-iris/orris a scent as possible. They should give their nose a raise and fire whoever chooses names.

There is a woodsmoke smell right at the start, then a rush of fruits. A bit of plum but mostly the citruses. Then the woods come in and they're really the star, creamy and warm. Great for any time of year and lasts very well. If you are one of those people who lament when citrus notes fade too quickly you might want to look into this -- the citrus lasted extremely well, 3-4 hours.

VF is the twin brother of Hermes Vetiver Tonka. They are totally interchangeable. It is elegant, pleasant, clean, sophisticated, posh...this vetiver composition makes me want to smell myself all day long. The vetiver here smells sweet and fresh, not the dryer and smokier vetiver you get in other compositions (not to say this is bad either, just different).

At half the price of Vetiver Tonka, I don't know why you wouldn't go with the Atelier version if you like the former.

You can wear VF all year long, day or night.

Magnificent. 9/10 in every aspect. For men, I think this is the best one in the Atelier collection thus far.

Majesty

Vetiver Fatal is a very realistic and true cologne, very concentrated despite being a cologne. A hint of juicy plum in the opening and intense vetiver when it dries down.Similar enough to Hermessemce Vetiver Tonka without the tonka bean note.Less sweet than Vetiver Tonka and a bit more fresh. Suitable for men and women and for all year round. Good lasting power and average sillage.

aliabooboo

Vetiver Fatale is like 50 shades of nighttime in a bottle. Very cool. Very very unisexual.

cwerge

Great scent if you want to spray it on you every hour to even notice it a little.
Smell:10
Projection and longevity: (-10)
Overall: maybe good to spray it before going to bed or around the house...

Annemarie

I get the plum note quite strongly and that, for me, separates Vetiver Fatal from other, more austere and earthy vetiver fragrances. The plum has a softening effect and pushes VF into slightly feminine territory. Like many of the Ateliers, VF is not a complex fragrance. It demands nothing of you and in return for your reaching for it often, it just smells good.

mossyoakpenn

All I can say is YSL L'Homme Libre! Funny how you can have two different perfumes that smell EXACTLY the same and one is bashed and this one is hailed. I just tested them side by side and wow... They may not be exactly the same but it doesn't get much closer. I just wish someone would of mentioned this earlier because I have Libre and wouldn't of needed to test this one.

Update: 2 hours into it and the vetiver/violet leaf start separating. Much, much nicer now. Libre doesn't do that for me. This frag would be amazing if the two weren't so blended together soooo deep into the drydown. Maybe another test is in order.

esteban747

Wow. I like it.
There's something utterly fresh and summery about this composition.
It develops quite smoothly, after the green/clean opening it becomes sweeter but just enough thanks to the plum. The dry down is a quiet blend of cedar and what's left from the vetiver.
Very nice fragrance, one to keep in consideration.

Atelier Cologne's Vetiver Fatal is easily one of my favourite vetiver perfumes. Most people know vetiver as a masculine, salty and dry accord, however in this particular fragrance, the vetiver note is smooth, spicy and fresh.

This fragrance opens very much like a Summer cologne with a refreshing burst of bergamot, bitter orange and sicilian lemon. However it develops rather quickly into a spicy, and somewhat green blend of juicy plum, damp cedar and vetiver. Vetiver Fatal is easily a unisex fragrance; neither too feminine nor too masculine.

When I was invited out to dinner at a hot pot restaurant recently, Vetiver Fatal was my first choice. It's classy yet subtle at the same time. I actually feel quite sexy wearing it, as it has that smooth, spicy woodsiness.

The thing I've found with the more recent releases from Atelier Cologne, is that they seem to be producing stronger and more cool weather appropriate scents. I like this new approach, as I think it's quite important to show some diversity. Vetiver Fatal is most certainly a versatile and unique fragrance from this brand.

Despite the soft sillage, Vetiver Fatal lasts well over five hours on the skin. Not half bad for a supposed cologne. I would recommend testing first, however I'm almost certain that most fragrance lovers will enjoy this.

aqua_de_la_vita

Atelier Cologne created a excellent summer fragrance with Vetiver Fatal. I really enjoy the lighter version whereas a lot of other brands give a deep heavy woodsy or even a somewhat "smokey" scent.
Atelier use of Calabrian bergamot and plum makes this cologne a very unique fragrance which isn't too feminine yet deep enough to make it also a masculine cologne.
I agree with a few of those who mention they can not detect Oud, which is very woodsy and heavy, this cologne isn't all. I also agree that this cologne is just a touch sweet or fresh and that's what makes this cologne stand apart from the others.
Longevity is over 6 hour's
Sillage is moderate...a lot of the other brands lean to heavy.
Overall I enjoy using this cologne and recommand it to those who like the note of Vetier during the spring/summer time.

Vetiver Fatale by Atelier Cologne:

"Vetiver Fatale," takes the wearer to the far off home of the vetiver plant. To a land steeped in mystic exoticism...

It is not just a scent, but a journey: to a summer dusk in a Javanese marsh. The sky is dark with a tinge of blood orange and the sun sets over the tree line. Your guide is eating an orange as he navigates the river raft and you can smell the peels wafting towards you. The air is cool, sticky and sweet; it clings to the skin and lines the lungs with a certain joie de vivre.

Dusk fades into night and the journey comes to an end.

This is "Vetiver Fatale."
8.5/10

raw umber

Vetiver Fatal by Atelier Cologne smells like the entire plum tree, in the way L'Artisan's Premier Figuier smells like the entire fig tree: limbs, leaves, fruit and roots.

It opens with a cedary citrusy almost barbershop tonic, which quickly transforms into the sweet earthy freshness of dark purple fruits and leaves. There is nothing overly pungent about this plum tree, and as others have noted, it is surprisingly smooth.

Once the nectar-like quality of the plum begins to calm down, it is replaced by a creamier, earthier incarnation of itself, with the brown/pink sweetness of Haitian vetiver, and a combination of greenly spicy woods.

This perfectly balanced fragrance goes through fluid yet distinct phases, each one thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely unisex.

Sillage is average, and longevity is somewhat low, but it comes in a very large and tasteful bottle, so you can apply it liberally.

In the dry down it is a sweet earthy scent, like sun warmed fruit and blossoms among leaves.

Vetiver Fatal is the feeling of sweet green shade. It is the sensation of hearing that your flight to Key West is now boarding. It is catharsis and excitement. It is ready to GO! (and never look back).

KIELECKI

This is a truly amazing fragrance, smells like Hermessence Vetiver Tonka at the fraction of the price.
Very Nice version of Vetiver, smooth and creamy. Bravo! If you are looking for something different and original must give this a try!!!

Frunkinator

Vetiver Fatal is unlike the commonly found earthy and dry Vetiver fragrances currently offered by so many fantastic houses today. Vetiver Fatal is super smooth with a signature citrus blast of Atelier freshness. It dries down with the green aromatics of vetiver surrounded by a unique sweet plum note and very attractive violet leaf. The entire fragrance is very well blended and really really super smooth! The Oud "accord" is not present to my nose, as I am not an Oud fan and can normally pick it right out. Instead I believe it's sitting closely in the base and helps to create the slightly leaning masculine woody aura in the dry down.
Still trying to figure out what it smells like...? Picture Hermes' Vetiver Tonka reformulated by Creed for absolute crisp freshness, and then finished off by Atelier for their signature silage and longevity. (Any fresh fragrance fans really need to try Atelier, as there is certainly something for everyone from the line)
I was lucky enough to meet Atelier's owner Christphe and the fragrance perfumer Jerome Epinette at a NYC event in 2012.
They were both more then gracious and very enthusiastic about their House and their creations. They were fun loving and smiling while cracking jokes showing nothing but class and gentlemen's charm the entire night... so refreshing to see :)
Vetiver fatal goes a good 7 hours on me and has quickly become an easy to wear, smell great, reach for anytime fragrance in my collection.

Weird. This is like some kind of mutant love child between Givenchy Vetiver and Diptyque's Philosykos.

Let me try to describe Vetiver Fatal: imagine someone took the best aspects of Givenchy Vetiver, such as the smooth, buttery feel (noted by pynkgirl), and combined it with the green fig/coconut of Philosykos and you'd have something like this. Fortunately, it works great and smells awesome. I always love smelling fresh and unique takes on vetiver, because God knows how many vetiver fragrances there are out there that all smell alike. I'd say this one lasts 5 hours at the most, but it really smells lovely. I'll have to revisit this eventually. Try it!

sherapop

Say what you will, but I'm a gal who can really appreciate a good vetiver frag. Atelier Cologne was off my radar until only recently, when I acquired the limited edition purse spray set of their first seven creations (available only at Sephora) and then was sent samples of both VETIVER FATAL and ROSE ANONYME by the house itself the very same week. I believe that I received the samples for signing up at Cafleurebon in response to a feature on this house. In any case, the stars are all aligned now, shining down upon me with a bright clarion message: Clearly, it's time to give this house's wares a sniff, and now more than ever, given that a few reviewers have compared VETIVER FATAL to Byredo BAL D'AFRIQUE, which I only just tested today.

The moment I donned VETIVER FATAL, I was impressed. It smells very natural and with the perfect amount of vetiver mixed in with a variety of other notes, none of which appears to be iso-E-super! Miracle of all miracles. Or is it that most current men's fragrances contain so much iso-E-super, that my poor nose is unable to discern anything else? All I know is that, if there are such aromachemicals in this composition (and I presume that there are...), they are applied judiciously with the result that it comes off smelling much better than most of the men's colognes I've smelled of late.

I prefer VETIVER FATAL to both BAL D'AFRIQUE and Hermessence VETIVER TONKA because it is a touch less sweet and has a bit more vetiver. This creation really seems like vetiver is the centerpiece, although calling it "fatal" is probably going too far. It's definitely not vetiver overkill. No, it's just the right amount of vetiver and one step back from BAL D'AFRIQUE and VETIVER TONKA in sweetness, bringing it a smidgeon closer to (though still at a distance from) Prada INFUSION DE VETIVER.

I honestly believe that all of these vetiver creations are 100% unisex and should be marketed as such. This does not smell masculine to me at all--it just smells very good. Yum. I could see buying the large bottle of this one. I was wondering why the fragrances of this house, strangely named Atelier Cologne--with all that that implies--appear to come in only two sizes: 30 ml or 200 ml. This is the sort of fragrance which I could see myself applying quite liberally, so the 30 ml bottle would not be a good idea in my case. Maybe those little bottles exist as extended testers? Well, in any case I am now very interested in working through my purse sprays of the original seven fragrances from this house. If the quality is this high, I'll be adding some of these to my collection at some point. In fact, VETIVER FATAL is already on my wish list. Bravo!

AndrzejK

Vetiver Fatal is a nice frag but it is not "vetivery" in a way vetiver-lovers would imagine. Frankly, I do not feel much vetiver in it. It is kind of sweet (plum, violet leaf) and creamy. Worth trying but I guess it will not suit everybody due to its sweetness and creaminess and not much vetiver - but I still love it.

biral

The first impression that I got was huge similarity to Vetiver Tonka. Thre is a small difference in concentration and head notes are much more sweeter in VT. I got a sample, so will do more tests tomorrow. Was expecting more vetiver, I suppose.

pynkgirl

This is very nice! It smells really spicy , almost tabasco sauce spicy and then it dries down buttery..very nice!

Update: I must have a FB of this! The drydown is so amazing and worth the wait. This is definitely unisex!
