This smells like body odour. You might think you smell good, but everyone else thinks you smell like body odour.

exmin

no one can really dislike this but its not exciting enough for me

capitanokook

it's my all time favorite perfume. it's my signature, it's unique at least where I live, it's sophisticated, it's got the vibe of an old book. it's plenty powerful, and it does stay on me for a long time. i've gotten many compliments for it. it's my go to, it's the one i trust the most for any occasion. i've read some reviews saying it smells like wet concrete, well i do honestly believe that calls for a proper olfactory reevaluation by an expert. it's simply excellent.

ScentNSent

So for those comparing it to BDC I see why, off the top this does seem citrusy just like Bleu De Chanel - specifically the EDP, but it has its own twist and goes a different direction after that, wouldn’t even have drawn that comparison if I never saw it here. But this is a great fragrance, wanted to get the EDP or parfum after seeing many reviews on them and found the EDT for a great price and figured why not, no regrets. This thing is an amazing scent, not super basic, but nothing ground breaking, you’ll definitely smell unique and great IMO. I don’t get that body odour smell off my skin at all, that might be due to some people’s nose or skin chemistry, maybe a bad bottle? But regardless try before you buy so you don’t end up wasting money! I do think that most people will love this though. Longevity doesn’t seem to be an issue either, probably very average 6-8 hours but any more than that I think you’re lucky lol

Lukasssss

Bleu Noir instantly reminded me of Cologne Cedrat by Matiere Premiere. It is more similar to that fragrance than to Terre d’Hermès.
It is spicy, dry, fresh, and musky with a shower gel touch. I can easily smell vetiver and nutmeg, but I also smell cumin which does not seem to be an official note.
I like this fragrance, it does not smell like I expected it to do from the appearance of the bottle. 7/10.

Mont Blanc Explorer Platinium'a çok benziyor

Apache1830

To my nose, smells like a mix between Voyage d'Hermès and Terre, with a slightly blue nuance.

It's not as good as those two, simply because it's in the middle, it's lacking a bit of definition and character.

But a great scent nonetheless !

_Aerides

To me it smells exactly like Declaration by Cartier but without the cumin note PUNCHING YOU IN THE FACE that the Cartier has lol. It's also smoother and somewhat creamy. This one's pretty good.

MarkoPeeko

Beautiful blend of cardamom, nutmeg, cedar and vetiver on my skin. Made all the nicer with the ridiculously cheap price tag.

Not getting the resemblance to either TdH or BdC. This is a banger in its own right.

Probably works best in late fall, winter, and early spring. Office or evening. Moderate projection for 60-90 mins. 7-8 hours on my skin.

Solid juice.

barmanscents

Beautiful use of vetiver it reminded me of how Lalique does the encre noire line.
If you like Encre noire sport you will love this one.

Smellybutgood

Ok, hear me out on my rant.

I can understand the love for this fragrance. My nose has matured to the point that I can pick up on notes that make a fragrance beautiful even if there are things in it that my nose doesn't particularly care for.

Considering that I love the edp, parfum, and extreme versions, I was very disappointed to experience the dreaded body odor smell that some people have complained about. I had such high hopes and honestly feel that I am of the minority when taking into account the body odor smell.

My wife absolutely adored the edt and it doesnt seem like others pick up on that note either but at this point, if I dont like it, I wont wear it....doesnt really matter to me if it garners compliments.

I will add however, in no way shape or form does this edt smell anything like Terres D'Hermes or Bleu de Chanel. On the contrary, it does smell a bit similar to Cartier Declaration which I ironically also pick up the BO smell in.

For reference in an analogy:
A Kia Stinger has some similarities in style to a Porsche Panamera but does that mean that we can say they look just alike? Just because fragrances have similar notes/accords doesn't make them smell just alike.

I digress however......The entire Narciso Rodriguez line is absolutely amazing. Just because my stupid nose picks up on the BO smell doesnt make this a horrible fragrance. It's an amazing fragrance that is very well suited for an everyday or office fragrance. Just wanted to share with you my personal experience.

whatisthis1134

the musk & velvet combination reminds me a lot of my senior, close to his 60-ish auditing professor, which is unmotivating. scent wise is decent, old-school, safe-for-office kind of deal but not my cup of tea, just cant pull this-off eventhough im now in late 30s

MarkoPeeko

FAO any Aussies reading - $59.99 in Chemist Warehouse for 100ml.

Grab ‘em before they’re gone.

Demus Anum

Masterpiece. Gorgeous sensual unique spicy bergamot opening with spicy woody dry down.

Marsellko

The opening is like Terre d'Hermes, and the dry-down is similar to Blue de Chanel.
If you don't like woody scents, the opening is a bit harsh.

Fabean

I get mostly nutmeg, amber, cedar and musk. There’s a slight relation to TDH in the opening for sure so I’m guessing that’s the vetiver. It’s a great perfume but it’s too light to me. Great for office use.

JasKiew

It's not a bad scent nor a very good scent. This is just another one of those that smells like TdH. The same Vetiver. This is exactly the same smell as Cuir Vetiver by Yves Rocher which I also have. 95-99% alike and cheaper and both scents are by Sonia Constant. No surprises. She just copied this over to that. As a stand alone scent I'll give a 7/10. For creativity 5/10...

Ps and this smells nothing like bdc, stop listening to those crap users who don't even know the scent

MarieLlwyd

Didn’t expect to like this as much as I do. Goes to my favourites shelf. Safe blind buy but also slightly different and outside the norm. Best described as an intensely clean scent that doesn’t lean too ‘soapy’ and cloying. Sophisticated and serene. Not showy and braggadocio like Sauvage or Aventus. Something I’d wear for any occasion in any season and feel supremely confident.
——————-
Edit: longevity is indeed impressive. Presumably so is projection although it’s hard to gauge how others perceive it on you.

sam-r1

what a wonderful smell ! a blind buy material
very unique and different. in two words spices and powdery
for those who doesn't care much about the powdery scent, this is just the right amount
it lingers behind the scene, in the front cardamom mixed woody accord is the dominant scent

Mr.Andersson

Nice modern vetiver fragrance. Bright with spicy nuances. I get the comparison to TDH - at the end of the day I will choose TDH over Bleu Noir.

Xeryuz

If someone is looking for no-brainer alternative of NRfHBN, ´Creation Lamis Lorenzo Silvetto men edt´ is a cheap and decent dupe.

maksim_novikov

I'm in love with it, it reminds me the Hermes Terre d'Hermes, but much cheaper

underslunky

Many people are complaining about the longevity, but to me this is a very long lasting, albeit soft, scent. But the notes are soft from the beginning, to me there's nothing sharp (in contrast to the description above) or screechy. Instead it is warm and inviting, huggable.

It's pretty good in most conditions except the high heat, and being a scent with a soft character it's not going to compete for attention in a club. Look carefully where you spray on skin and you'll see the oil content (seems high for an EDT), with a beautiful, long-lasting musk that goes for hours, apparently long after many folk are still aware of it.

The drydown smells like sweet, clean skin (with hints of lemon and spices), that seems to me to last all day on skin and even longer on clothes. Very sensual and warm, one of the best designer releases in the last ten years in my opinion, with a quite different scent profile to most other things out there. To me it doesn't smell much like TDH at all, more like Declaration but softer and a bit more 'natural'. Perhaps 1920 The Origin by Tous comes close. I don't get the BO, as I said clean skin, soft spices, even when I tried it in the summer heat (not the best time to wear this - maybe summer nights though?)

Not like the other designer 'blue' scents at all, and all the better for it.

RandyHolbert

fresh spicy opening, with an ashy dry down. cool masculine scent, although it's pretty much just linear

Bergamet

I once professed my undying love for Terre d’Hermes to a friend and he told me quite explicitly that I’m forbidden from wearing it until I turn 40. I understand what he’s getting at, so I’ve settled for several other endearing citrusy vetiver fragrances in my little collection instead.

This one surprised me quite a bit. It’s as though the people in marketing gave the brief ‘Terre d’Hermes but make it young’ to the perfumer, and that really summarises my impression of the scent on the whole. It’s a really lovely, smooth and clean smelling woody musk carrying all of the deeply erotic associations of vetiver without smelling dirty or too mature. I find it so darn pleasant, if I worked in an office environment I’d be picking up a bottle in a heart beat.

Ba2siK

The "Blue" version of Terre d'hermes. A bit fresher, less "green", and more appealing overall IMO.

dpark

Wasn't sure what to expect with this. It's definitely not "blue". Not aquatic. Not ultra clean or shower gel. The aldehyde content here seems low as it's missing that sharp note. Somehow this is a bit headache inducing to me, though.

This is *very* reminiscent of Cartier Declaration, but warmer, muskier, and a bit sweeter. I'm not sure I need a warmer Declaration, though. This feels redundant for me and less versatile since this feels heavy for summer wear. If I didn’t already have Declaration this would probably be pretty compelling.

cvaile

This is for me the best Blue Noir expression.

If you enjoy Declaration this should work for you. I find that one more aromatic, while this one has more emphasis on the musk (it is NR, after all :) and the woods (cedar mostly, but there's a more bass-note wood accent that I guess is the ebony wood note). In the same collection I would use Declaration in Spring/Summer and this in Fall/Winter, though they are both completely versatile on their own.

Mt.Carmel

is it only me? or this smells like ARAMIS, not Terre dhermes??
smells vintage. more modern than Aramis, but same DNA imo.

Andrey Georgiev

Best blind buy I ever had. The musk note is so satisfying and sexy. Decent performer and very versatile.

CaseyJohnson

Its great 9.4 of out 10, last long. Thick masculine and spicy wood, almost some leather in there also. Wearing it this winter, very understated and not a lot people know about this one which is why I like it, I won't be bumping in to anyone who will recognize this scent hopefully.

If you're on the fence about buying this, just buy it.

Tacosalad

Going into this I knew it wasn't going to be a blue scent when I blind bought this but didn't expect what this fragrance is. Its a vetiver/woody scent with Terre Herres vibes in the opening a touch brighter and softer. Then a Dior Sport 17 like dry down. That being said I like TH better and think its redundant to have both in a collection. I like it but not going to buy any more than the 10ml I sampled. My wife already hates when I wear TH so this isn't going to impress her either. Doesn’t last long , first the vetiver dies then the musk and you are left with a light cedar skin scent. 4 hours of light projection 2-3 skin scent. Good scent but in no way shape or form smells like Bleu De Chanel or any other blue to be honest its green.
7/10

marinaalex0510

Love its scent on my man

osmangaziback

lemon, wood, musk. nothing else. i bought it on sale 50ml for 30 bucks. great deal but not that great smell.

williamcoombe

fell for the hype
beautiful opening and becomes even better on the dry down,
but the longevity is honestly absurd, super let down by how long it lasts on skin.
1 hour MAX before it becomes a skin scent.
I will now use it for my gym fragrance.
5/10

basicfragdude

I don’t get clean, fresh, or terre d Hermes references. It smells just like declaration - musky and animalic. I also have no idea why bleu is in the name because there isn’t any blue here. Big letdown

edifier

Between Bleu Noir EDT, EDP and EDT Extreme, this is the best overall fragrance due to its blend of citrus, spices and woods. The distinctly spicy opening with sweet undertones gives way to a mid that evokes a softer Terre d’Hermes, before evolving into a creamy drydown that reminds me of a lemon tart. Five to six hours in, I am still getting wafts of it emanating from my skin.

Even though it is the most hyped of the three, the EDP is like a neutered version of the EDT with the removal of spices and augment of woods; its performance is no better than the EDT, if not worse. The EDT Extreme features a boost in the citrus notes, which ironically makes it more potent than the EDP; still it risks getting lost in the crowd of summer freshies. The EDT remains the pick of the bunch for me, followed by the EDT Extreme, then the EDP.

neodave

I like it but don't love it. I've been trying to find a cheaper alternative that's similar to Dior Homme 2020. I know many don't like DH 2020 as is evident with its low Fragrantica score but I love it and it's one of the most long lasting in my collection. Like most Dior's its on the upper end of my preferred price tag. There are some faint similarities in the drydown of Bleu Noir EDT but it projects far less and lasts considerably less time. If you can get past the first 20 minutes of the opening where it smells like a sweaty girls locker room it's not bad at all. I'm guessing the opening is cumin and the drydown is musk but i didn't see cumin listed. Must be the overload of ISO E Super in DH 2020 that I like.

Thatbwoy

I went to school with a guy that I swear has been replicated by aliens or a very content creator. This human never had the mould broken when they poured all the human goo into it the form. There was nothing remarkable about him, he was a very pleasant guy, popular with men and women, was quite athletic, quite artistic, mister straight down the middle. You could not find a reason a dislike him.

He would wear this. It's standard. I don't get the massive hype behind it, but I really cannot dislike this, there's nothing to hate about it - although I do think 30-35 years ago this would've been a female marketed fragrance - I could see myself wearing this if they ever discontinued Calvin Klein Eternity. As this is a easy reach versatile scent; clean fresh soapy.

6.5/10

Yance

narciso redriguez, i have both of these lines, edt and edp, in my opinion even though they have the same name but both have differences. The wooden edt is more pronounced and thicker at the beginning, the edp feels more masculine, while the edp feels softer maybe because the warm spicy is removed so it smells more like fresh soap until it is closed to the skin. Both SPL can be said to be moderate, for lovers of this perfume, it is a must to collect because the fragrance is unique and different from most blue fragrances today.

u46esp

I'm flip-flopping between it's so sexy and awesome and this is BO vibe. Some days it worked great on my skin and it felt like sexy grown-up man. On other days, my skin / weather just doesn't like it and BO vibe come up pretty strongly. At that point it's almost an instant scrubber for me.

Definitely a scent to enjoy by myself ... just because I can't guess when it'll work.

vizatrix

If it only had better longevity I could wear it everyday as signature tbh - it's that versatile. Very simple, fresh, masculine and clean (not animalic at all) musk with aromatic/woody background.

Don't ask me about performance - yeah, it's below average. I will respray it after3- 4 hours.

Wearing it today and despite perfect blending I can really distinguish every single note from beginning to deep drydown - lots of sweet (due to cardamon and amber) ebony wood and vetiver here, not that fresh as in early stages but makes it really multidimensional.

//Edit: So like after hour of writing this I just ordered fb. Performance still sucks, I just respray and don't wonder if anybody can smell it. I tried Cartier Declaration and if I had to choose between them I'd probably go with Cartier, but both are worth checking out.
//Edit2: It become my perfect gym scent and for this purpose it's perfect.
//Edit3: 12.12.2022: Nah, Percival is more fun to use at gym and I got rid of Narcisso.
//Edit4: 23.11.2023: Got rid of Percival too, were using Molecule 01, but tbh I just go to the gym to kick the shit ouf of me, not to smell good or bad.

Jonathanelsher3

Bleu Noir has a warm, rich quality to it because to the warm amber note. This strikes me as a superb illustration of olfactory diversity on popular topics as opposed to simple replication or cloning. The end product is a sophisticated, wearing woody/spicy/musk scent that suits all seasons and social settings. Mature, sophisticated and very well made.

FragranceD'Amateur

Just wow .
“Love at first sniff” .
This one became one of my favorite fragrances right away - just from sampling twice .

Some sweetness , some freshness/citrus , musk , woodiness , all of it smoothly done and well blended .

Mature , but soothing .
Mysterious , yet fresh .
Unilateral , but versatile .

Fragrance’s longevity is a bit frustrating though , just moderate . Such intoxicating smell should everlast ..

Anyways , I’m adding this to my collection asap .

willnpc40

Very disappointed in this, I fell for the hype like the last review. While the cologne smells nice it does not last longer than 30 minutes on my skin before becoming a skin scent.

I bought it as a discounted tester but still think it is overpriced. On the same day, I also got in the mail Hummer H2 cologne. I paid $6 for it. Even though they smell nothing alike, to my nose it has a better smell and lasts longer than Bleu Noir.

4/10 - Nice scent, but poor longevity. Overpriced.

MrWilson23

Don't believe the hype on this. Whilst the opening is nice the performance is dreadful. It fades to nothing very quickly regardless of whether sprayed on clothes or skin.

I'm not a performance chaser by any means and I own a lot of fragrances however I was very disappointed with this one.

I sold my bottle a couple of days after opening it.

MrOverSprayYourGirl

Got it for 33$ no complains but the performance is somehow great maybe because the notes.

YouSmellThat?

This Fragrance is a straight up 💎

Rafrosa

Vetiver and musk are the main players here. That unique contrast makes this fragrance bright yet dark, invigorating yet mysterious. If you are looking for something different in a freshie, look no further! Know that this really is more of a green scent than blue(it should be called “Green Noir”), it’s essentially 70% clean Vetiver, 20%musk and 10% spices/other notes. Narciso always seems to do amazing things with musk and Bleu Noir is no exception…

Stoopid Phresh

This smells like Bruce Wayne on a cool dark, bleu noir night in Gotham City 😁✌🏿🌃

rafaelpdelima

A modern classy vetiver fragrance. I love it!

I'm a big fan of vetiver fragrances (Terre d Hermes, Guerlain Vetiver, Encre Noire) and I'm very happy with this one.
It is a smother/sweeter take on this classy/elegant note.

I just got it and I already know will be wearing it a lot.

The opening shares some slight similarities to Valentino Uomo (just the opening)
The dry down shares some similarities to Guerlain Homme (my signature scent), besides other vetiver fragrances that I mentioned before.

It is a new addition on my top 10 list.

yashvardan

I had to do this. I totally rewrote this review as this may take some time to get used to it but believe me, this is a magic fragrance. I can definitely see the comparison with TDH but this is the more modernized version of it with some hint of Eros kind of freshness.

The initial blast of nutmeg with some hints of cardamom may be too overwhelming for you but believe me, people around you where you are leaving the scent trail will be totally tempted by it and try to come closer. It works like a magnet. Though it doesn't project a lot, it works favoring the fragrance as per my previous statement.

This fragrance has a bit of lactonic and milky feel to it being a musk heavy but they have used very classy and clean white musks which they have the expertise for.

In the end, they have added nice and fresh vetiver and ebony wood note that again gives it a classy and woody touch. It smells really expensive because of that vetiver note and Amber gives that modern feel to it.

In a nutshell, this whole lactonic-musk-heavy, fresh spicy, and woody composition give it a super expensive candle-like feeling that you may find in very expensive resorts from evening to night time.

A well-put-together guy should wear this on an evening date, office (temperature controlled), or the first meeting with someone (business/family). Actually, super versatile being damn unique. Hands down, a great release. Just FYI - you have to develop the taste of classy and expensive fragrances. This is not your usual Voyage, BDC or Sauvage.

I would say this is another modern classy smelling fragrance that I will use again and again along with the Prada L'homme when I want to just smell superior and make a great first impression!

Houston1863

The EDT from the Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir family is a woody spicy aromatic fragrance with opening notes of nutmeg and cardamom, possessing a musky character complemented by sweet amber and black wood.

It is a unique fragrance with a highly attractive character that once discovered, you cannot get enough of. While the signature musky middle note in company with the sweet amber is so addictive. Sadly it is a little short on longevity, becoming a skin scent in around three hours. However upon close examination you can detect the elements of the scent, notably the warm spice, wood, nutmeg, cardamom musk and amber accords. To continually enjoy these, topping up would be the solution so take a decant of the scent with you and remain uniquely fragrant all day long.

The Bleu Noir EDT is highly rated by Jus de Rose on her excellent YouTube channel and I would share a lot of her thoughts on the scent, especially those woody ambery musky notes that set it apart. If not for limitations with respect to its longevity the Bleu Noir EDT would easily have been signature scent-worthy. Regrettably this rather impacts its rating which is given at 8.9/10. It could have been well-advanced of 9.

Vickalicious

To me this fragrance is all about vetiver. I'm actually shocked that this doesn't have any citrus notes listed in the note breakdown because I definitely get some citrus in this. To my nose, this is mostly vetiver, citrus, and spices-it's a really nice take on vetiver! Performance is really great as well. I'm a woman and would wear this, but it does become more masculine as it dries down. Underrated for sure.

johnrgillen

Transcends the blue category. Imagine a blue fragrance that found its heart and a brain.

frederickf_

I was blown away by this. Can’t wait to try the others in the For Him line. Mad love for this one. It’s one of the very few out of everything I’ve tried that I’m sure most women would love on men.

ryanok21

One of my favorites. Not overpowering and lasts long. This cologne needs more attention because it is definitely underrated.

nauditaolivia

A big fan of NR's perfume. Smells manly, classy, though it reminds me a bit of Terre d'Hermes as everyone said. Lasts pretty long but not all day. Gave this to a guy because my father wears it and he stocked 3 bottles of this hahaha.

timrizzo

Spices but not spicy, woody office scent. Reminds me of Terre d'Hermes but more sensual. There is a lemon note that keeps coming back to me that I assume must be from the nutmeg. I have always wanted a more sensual, amber-y TDH but sadly the performance was lackluster, quickly becoming a skin scent. Swing and a miss.

btd069

Spices, Musks, Earthy and Woods. It has kind of a Cumin vibe at the beginning i think from the vetiver. I can see the comparison to Declaration….however, i feel like this is a more modern version of it. Definitely get the Vetiver.

It’s a nice fragrance…..definitely not groundbreaking. If you can get this for around $40-$45, I’d pick it up…….i wouldn’t pay much more than that. Pretty dry scent, not a lot of citrus or sweetness here. It’s like Terre D’Hermes less Orange.

I got a tester from Foreverlux for around $40 but the listing said it didn’t come with a cap (i always try to get caps), I don’t really care about boxes. The tester came with a cap even though the listing said it didn’t which was a nice surprise. It’s a nice pickup, but i would try it beforehand if you like the mass appealing fragrances.

I've smelled this a few times and I'm always disappointed. I own the original Narciso For Him and I'm obsessed with it. Bleu Noir seems very uninspired to me. I pick up on the woody notes but something about this feels very "deodorant" to me. I really wish they'd bring back the original NFH or reformulate this somehow. I'm keeping an open mind about this one and will update but so far I'm not impressed.

Guitar 2016

It is a generic perfume , The copy of Cartier Declaration EDT, It smells like ginger bread ! It opens up with like warm spicy then dry down is musky woody. This is perfect for the spring, fall and winter.

Fatter

This review is for the edp.

I find the comparison to Terre d'hermes and declaration pretty accurate. More so Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche, however. I would describe this as a fresh spicy sweet smell. Cardamom on its own can feel pretty sweet and the addition of nutmeg pushes this over the line of my sweetness threshold. Feels almost gourmand.

I sought out this scent because I had heard another comparison to Voyage d'Hermes, one of my favorites. While I see the spicy similarity, if you are attracted to Voyage for its gin and tonic vibes (as I am), you will be disappointed.

Personally I prefer Terre and Declaration on their own instead of mashed up in this fragrance.

dabatch

declaration for more money and with less longevity and projection.
absurd.
nice bottle though.

WGG

The reviews here are sensing very different things indeed. I experience bright opening then cardamon and nutmeg, woody and (only) echoes of TdH. Ultimately couldn't get on with the nutmeg which tbh became annoying and offloaded on ebay.

It is my first Narciso Rodriguez experience and I must say I was blown away. What a beautiful fragrance.
It smells like a modern version terre d'hermes without that earthiness, with a little bit of dior homme touch. Vetiver and cardomom are the main notes here.
Pretty masculine scent, I'll buy it for sure.

Ferra_Verto

Very lovely; woody vetiver with warm musk, balanced with a richly spicy cardamom and sweet-ish nutmeg. Very 'blue' in feel, and I definitely get the comparison between Terre d'Hermes & Cartier Declaration. Perfect for the transitioning weather, and can definitely lean unisex, I am a woman and this scent wears very well on me.

fanzypants

This is a great green and aquatic scent. It reminds me of many like Chanel bdc, and Deauville by Michel Germain. In my collection it's like i mixed Oscar de la Renta's Gentleman with Jimmy Choo Man. It's awesome and now my favourite spicy aquatic. I would wear this in all seasons and settings. Can be dressed up or down since the elegant opening becomes more accessible as it dries down. I love this. I do get some citrus all the way through...wondering why they're not listed?

Matux

I can get the main reference to S.T. Dupont / Declaration pour Homme and some to Terre d'Hermes, however with heavy citric top notes, which are evident when tried on a blotter; this is not so on the skin - on it feels like the balsamic version of the ones mentioned. Soft mild floral woody notes in the base, limited longevity, discreet sillage.

It is redundant if you have the Dupont or the Cartier; in the case of Terre it can be considered as a complementary alternative - I am thinking in layering options if that is your kick. Definetely not a blind buy, less so for the young crowd unless wanting to break stereotypes.

Shanedad0211

Smells good! To me this has that barbershop old school shaving cream feel. Longevity on this is very weak.

Ldeezy

Ok i love this.Modern blue fragrance lovely yellow green opening not too overpowering. But the drydown is what does it for me.Soft musky powdery which is perfect for the office enviroment.I have to admit i actually tried the EDP today and i feel its the best in the bleu noir line.Performance is much better and feels warmer and richer on the skin if that makes any sense😅.I love these fragrances from Narciso Rodriguez!!!!!!

I get a liquorice note on the dry down 6/10

Suckwad22

Kudos to Narciso for having the decency to at least improve on the scent they’re ripping off. Smelling this next to Bleu de Chanel causes them to bleed together into the same scent, but NRBN is richer and deeper with less screechy woods. As much as I *want* a new bottle of Chanel, I just can’t justify it while I have the Narciso. Very good and worth a try.

Sol0013

I discovered this perfume while looking for a fragrance for my boyfriend. He used to wear Terre d'hermes and this one is really similar to terre. I love it. 😍
It has just the right amount of spices.

deathjokes

really loves this scent, the opening is fresh with touch of spices and the dry down is amazing. its soft and addictive at the same time and the longevity is quite amazing on my skin is about 10+ hours but sillage and projection is just ok moderate.

bolancb

Anything NR does is a MASTERPIECE! ENOUGH SAID.....

Robinfv

Quit nice. This is an updated and modern version of Declaraton by Cartier, less oriental and sticky, but fresher and more contemporary. Sillage and projection are just right for these type of scents, you don't want them to be too overwhelming. Most suitable for autumn and winter. I give it a solid 7, nice, different, not too boring but nothing you will buy a second time. Or it must be for the bottle, which is absolutely gorgeous.

rmf1112

Although I personally find this to be pleasant, I also must be osmotic to the mid of musk because I don’t smell anything between the puff of sweet cardamom at the beginning, to the nice enough base that reminds me of the drydown of Guerlain Homme some time later. I also know its just me because my wife mentions how strong it is as my nose is in my arm trying to smell it, and unfortunately not a favorite of hers.

I would give it a solid 7.5/10, and recommend trying it.

nismo_86

Another blind buy. The first spray does remind me to TDH and Declaration, they got almost the same opening top note which I do not really prefer. With this one, I also just can't stand the top note but I totally love the middle and dry down. Maybe I will give it another chance in colder temp and let see how it react. Longevity and sillage is great on this one. Try before you buy, not save for blind buy.

MillySO

I blind bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. My local department store is closing and didn’t have any Fragrance testers so after trawling the internet for inspiration, I landed on this. I started to second guess myself while waiting for delivery because there are so few reviews outside of this site but it’s better than I imagined. It’s woody but also very bright.
I don’t have a nose that picks out individual notes very often but I agree with other comments that there’s a citrusy scent to this. It’s more lemon than orange to me.

I’ve been sniffing my inner elbow all day and while it’s definitely turned into a skin scent, it’s a very prominent skin scent 7 hours later. I’ve always avoided musks but I can’t find anything off-putting in here, either I’ve only ever smelled a bad musk, it’s well blended or it’s a weak musk. Whatever the reason, I’m pretty pleased with my
purchase which is perfect for a man in his mid-thirties who wants something a bit more grown up without falling into the overpowering old man territory of spicy woods.

ManicMonkey84

As a big fan of NR For Him EDT, I initially was taken aback by what a departure this flanker was. I haven't smelled Cartier's Declaration to which this is often compared, but as is, this is a gorgeous, "delicious" scent due to the cardamom base. As others have mentioned, there's an overriding citrusy/lemony character at the top despite there being no official citrus notes, but that just might be unexpected byproduct of the nutmeg, vetiver, and woods bursting in all at once. Each of these notes become more distinct and singular in the drydown. The woodsy-spicy character here is of the warmer, more sensuous variety, making it more wearable than the musk-forward grey bottles by NR. Sillage is moderate, but if I had to nitpick, it doesn't last as long as I wish it did. Probaly a solid 3-4 hour lifespan on the skin.

Painkiller

The opening is very explosive, but the dry down is great, the vetiver and the woods make it smell like wood burning in the distance but in a good way it's ever so slightly, I find it very soothing. It's lightly sweet and fresh and I find it funny how it smells citrusy on the dry down, vetiver sometimes can do wonders.

Ja85

I love this scent. I wore it for years, it has a very unique smell but at the same time it’s very flexible in terms of wearability and is a compliment magnet. Longevity is not its forte but it’s a beautiful scent. I personally outgrew it but I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique people pleasing scent.

smellavision

Fresh, slightly sweet and gentlemanly…

Bleu Noir (Blue Black?) is prominent in cardamom, citrus, lavender, nutmeg and white musk.

As far as I’m aware, this is the first male scent released since the original Rodriguez for him (which is quite a classic) and it’s intense and musk flankers, To be honest, based on their first male release I would have expected something a little more daring and unique from their second male line.

The mood is somewhere around Hermes Voyage Perfum/Terre d’Hermes/Cartier Declaration - if you’re a fan of these, you’ll most likely enjoy Bleu Noir as well. There’s also the alternative possibility that Sonia Constant has been inspired by the above fragrances and decided to make a mix of all three – who knows ?

The overall feel is wet and musky as opposed to blue. Decent performance, and a pretty good all round scent for office and most other activities makes this one quite easily likeable.

Ozyman

Its not bad.
Although the musk...the musk..
One woman in the supermarket told me i have a very good smell.
Sometimes i wonder if they wants us to be a bit feminine.
Makes me wanna put Antaeus.

m3tello

nobody noticed the citrus scent in this perfume or is it only me ? its intense !
i like it

Ghaith Shakaroun

I don't remember how I felt when I first tried this perfume except that my best friend (female) convinced me about it since it felt like her favorite cartier Declr. My point being is that it took me a while to appreciate its charm.
The spices here are cleaner, brighter, along with the musk and vetiver. Nothing skanky or dirty or old-manish or dated about this fragrance. Nothing dry or sweaty about those notes that if you read about them in a perfume composition you would think it's a 70s release.
I won't tell you about the note composition and how it evolves, f*ck that.
This feels like you poured some fancy sweet lime zest extract or some fancy blossomy juice on the spices then rubbed some ebony wood, cedar, and some musk so that the spices you sniff now are themselves zesty and seasoned with woods and musk. I think this citrussy zest-like note which brightens the whole mixture is the clean green vetiver and the little sweetness of the amber.
Yet this is mature, refined, and classy....not young boyish but still not dirty.
It's perfectly balanced as well and it got me compliments, only few found it not so good.
It's charm is in its balance and in that it's blended very carefully. I'm starting to like perfumes with less ingredients as they are more refined and moderately crafted.
I like cartier dclr and TDH but this is the modern product of that vetiverish line. So, this comes first, to me at least.
The performance is okay, considering the fact that maybe it's made for dates, dinners, or something like that....but I wore it to work for more than a month and on clothes it really lasts.....
In the office those old school heads who fixate on marine, freshy shit didn't like it but female coworkers loved it...but even those who did not like it could not complain that it's nauseating or scares away people no...it's safe, perfectly safe...
Can be used in the office if sprayed moderately...spray three sprays some several minutes before entering the office, in this way it lasts and it doesn't choke people around you because cardamom and vetiver are annoying to some people (to aqua-freshy flat-heads in particular) if sprayed heavily.

Ozyman

Just bought it.
Interesting one.
Attracting smell!

Br0wnsfn34

To those who recommended this to me I’m sorry I didn’t listen..

I am getting to love vetiver based fragrances.. This fragrance is awesome.. Definitely more for the spring summer early fall?! I feel that this fragrance is meant to be worn in the evening more than the afternoon.. And this fragrance can be worn formally.. The orange feel is very present and I’m amazed orange isn’t a note here.. The vetiver is clean with a nice spice essence with the nutmeg and cardamom.. This is a decant that I am going to finish tonight.. I will be buying a bottle of this with my next haul.. Nice work Narciso I will also try the EDP version as well

this is more like cartier than td. Why? orange approach is not present in blue noir. Very different fragrance in my opinion. Blue noir is more mass appealing and juvenile, spiced without that acid orange approach that personally i really dislike

Scentmouse

Powerful citrus fragrance.

SJC

Agree with Frack below. Basically Terre D'Hermes plus cardamom. But smelled side by side with TD and TD has more depth and richness. Would probably not buy this one since I already own TD. But this is also a great fragrance in its own right. Can smell with every few breathes for 4-5 hours. TD has slightly better performance.

No doubt, it's a modern version of Declaration! It brings the same rainy, humid graveyard-feeling. I like it!

Wow wow wow!!! Smells amazing, great bottle presentation, great price, and average longevity. This smells very similar to Cartier declaration edp imo but more mass pleasing. Very easy to wear. I loved my declaration edp but since I owned this one, I am keep reaching out for this instead of declaration edp. Must try this.

Handsniffer

I would consider bleu noir an easier to wear version of the for him line but it isn't nearly as unique as the original and it does not perform as well.

cardamom, musk, and ebony wood are the major players on my skin. One might think this is a lighter version of the original but this feels like it sits heavier on my skin. The texture of this seems fuzzy to me, therefore it seems more appropriate in cooler weather.

As a niche head and a guy who usually HATES blue fragrances. I'm considering a full bottle of this. The only blue fragrance that smells upscale and doesn't smell generic.

red_d

I have a Cartier Declaration Essence and this smells very close to it. I Blind bought Blue Noir tried it once and couldnt justify having both. The openings are almost identical however there are midly noticeable differences in the dry down.

In 2015, three years after launching the Eau de Parfum version for his male fragrance (For Him), Narciso Rodriguez decided to “reinvent” his male perfume line. He could have continued the For Him line - as many brands do - through versions called Absolut, Black, Intense or Extreme. But, as I explained in Narciso Rodriguez For Him EDP's review, I think the level of confusion that new flankers could generate would not make up for the high investment. So it was time to turn the page and keep creating new hits.

Narciso For Him Bleu Noir EDT has arrived as a new pillar within the For Him line. The creative concept speaks of confident men whose sense of freedom exudes sexy deliverance. And once again, each fragrance fits into one color, in a synesthetic process that permeates through all of the brand's fragrances. The color of this one is midnight blue, which represents the elegance of this decade, where suits no longer have to be black or gray, hair can be sculpted, and tattoos are no cause for prejudice.

However, this man may even be varied in style, but he has already learned some fashion and beauty tricks that made him more demanding when buying. That's why Narciso For Him Bleu Noir EDT's fragrance is not relaxed or refreshing just because its vessel is blue. It is designed to convey seriousness and sophistication by combining heady notes of cardamom and nutmeg over a musky center and a woody background of blue cedar, ebony, vetiver, and amber.

On the skin, Narciso For Him Bleu Noir EDT is hardly innovative because, as many know since its launch, the output is rich in a spicy cardamom that immediately reminds us of the smell that gave fame to Déclaration (Cartier - 1998). In addition, musk - a key ingredient in the brand's fragrances - seems to be nonexistent and evolution brings us to a refined and dry vetiver that has gained a bit more versatility because of its union with cedar.

- "Does it remember any other perfume?", people always ask.
- "Yes, it's a mix of Déclaration with Terre D'Hermés", others respond.
But we need to value the creaminess of this fragrance, which seems to embrace us as the time passes and is the result of ebony wood (note that I believe it comes from Ebonol, Givaudan's molecule with heavier and darker hues of sandalwood).

Narciso For Him Bleu Noir EDT has a good performance and represents well the style of the brand, even with respect to the Haute Perfumery aspect that continues to be sold. That is why, in the end, I could just say the same as everyone, pointing to similar perfumes on the market. But it's much more interesting to say that this fragrance is the kind that makes anyone see a perfect fitted suit on a man, who is wearing a T-shirt, shorts and flip flops. Why don't you try it?

eau d'best

I've read comments comparing this to Terre d'Hermès. WTF. To me, this has NOTHING to do with TdH. I can't even think how could someone compare this with TdH.
After a woody opening, this rapidly turns unpleasant. Imagine a charred house after a fire has been extinguished. Or a pile of burnt paper. To me this smells like this. An utterly unpleasant dark thick smokey odor, poignant smell. Abhorrent fragrance not made but perpetrated by Narciso Rodríguez. This sticks to your skin like napalm and stinks. I had to brush it firmly to get rid of this, which felt like a big relief.
This is a big NO.

Criglett Clussnum

This smells a lot like Terre D'Hermes but I think it smells a little bit better and it's cheaper. This doesn't have the orange up top like Terre D'Hermes but it smells very similar. The bottle is better looking as well. If you want a cleaner Terre D'Hermes without so much of the woods and dirtiness then this is the one to get. I have two bottles of this and I really enjoy it. This is one of those fragrances I just need to have. I'm not saying this is better all in all to the Hermes I'm just saying I prefer Bleu Noir and I reach for it a little more often. I give this a 92/100.

KsatriaIngusan

It has scents which similar to Terre D'Hermes, 94%
This is love or hate kind of scents. Not safe for blind buy. I personally prefer this one than Terre D'Hermes, it's sightly smoother.

Have you ever owned a fragrance that you often think "EVERYONE needs to know about THIS ONE!"....because it doesn't seem that nearly enough people have discovered it, based on how absolutely incredible it smells? Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir edt is THAT fragrance for me! Let me share why I feel so passionate about it. (I've been wearing it for years now):

Narciso Rodriguez "specializes" in musk-based fragrances.
NRBN's scent is masculine, stunning and easy to wear.
Its composition is modern, creative and captivating.
Yes, truly arguably better than either Declaration or Terre d'Hermes!
It's very seasonably versatile (except for hot / summer days)
It can be worn day or evening.
It can be worn from dressy-casual to formal.
For today's modern man, the performance is nearly ideal.
Its price when purchased on-line is a solid value.
You will smell uniquely original, since it isn't mainstream (yet)!

10/10
Bonus: NRBN edt smells even better (than it already does) when there is cool-overcast or drizzly weather!

cvaile

Danziger, I just got a tester bottle - so I imagine it might be short a few sprays, but it's 485 grams with the cap, 442 without.

Danziger

How to check how much fluid is in the bottle? Does anyone know the weight of a full or empty bottle without a stopper?

C_Joel94

This is such a GREAT scent. Gorgeous cardamom, nutmeg and woods with a really fresh opening. I have to say this is one of my favorite day wear scents. Its really rich and has depth to it so you could wear during night as well.

I had around the 5 hour mark in the performance area, it will project nicely but not in a long distance.

This for me is a 10/10. I would rather wear this over Dior Sauvage because this one is more smooth, polished and smells a lot more natural.

AdventurousSmell

This smell is so mysterious. It is deep, sensual and smells really sexy. I bought it today, and when i asked to smell it my first impression was "what is this? Wow!". It will make people think "what is that good smell? I never smelled this before".

I believe this is perfect for occasions like dates, bars and nightclubs since it has that "sex smell".

Przem

Have no words to describe it or rather describe how I like it. It's Declaration Cartier bathed in delicious citruses, broken with burnt coffee. I know there is no coffee in the notes and only guess the smokey note is ebony wood, but this is just my impression.
My favorite summer night out scent.
I would give 9/10 but 0.5 down for moderate longevity.

Jaradona

I like this one quite a bit.. I think that I can't live if I won't buy it soon.. it has a nice cardamom-nutmeg with heavy citruss aroma.. Everyone I know praised it after I tried a sample of it.. even my buddies liked it and one of them (a dear one) is determining to buy it too.
Imo it have a very similar vibe to Declaration de Cartier, replacing the cumin with citruss causing differences of some sort, but nothing like Dior Sauvage which I dislike because of the heavy chemicals on the drydown.
Unlike many others which are so synthetic, this smells very natural.. amazing!
Oh and one more thing, for longevity and sillage Declaration stayed on my skin much longer and projected better..

stephen.patton

Another comment after 3 hours of wear! this is GORGEOUS!! I put this up there with bleu de chanel and sauvage! it has the terre d hermes spicyness with the citrus of sauvage! this is addictive, masculine and seductive! still going strong after 4 hours too!! LOVE IT!!!

stephen.patton

YAYA09 it must be your skin chem mate, there is no way this smells like body sour odour! it smells strong, aromatic and an addictive masculine scent! this is in the same category as sauvage, reminds me of it quite a bit! maybe the cardomon and nutmeg! 8/10

yaya09

It smells like a body odor, a sour sweating. It's the effet of ebony. The positive thing is it evaporates fast.. :) Don't like at all.. :(

johnpatrickcastro35

fresh unique citrusy a tiny bit woodsy smells like a dark bleu mysterious this one is a very good scent i recommend getting your nose on it ....

vtdsz

I'm in love with this potion!
From first spraying to the dry down, a consistently pleasant fragrance
On the other hand, if there is a fragrance that I KNOW DEEPLY, because a wear it faithfully for 18 years is Cartier Declaration.
I can categorically, unmistakably and irrefutably state that Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noire and Cartier Declaration are NOT SIMILAR AT ALL.
It's like saying, that a whale is equal to a shark. They swim, they live under the water, theyvare majestic large animals, but they are not even of the same species.
In any blind test 10 out of 10 times I can distinguish Cartier Declaration from whatever comes to my nose.
As of today there's still NOTHING in the market similar to the complexity and unballanced harmony that Jean Claude Elena accomplished with Cartier Declaration.
It is not to say that NRFH Bleu Noire is short of absolutely fantastic EDT
NRFH Bleu Noire EDT and Terre de Hermes are a lot more comparable and similar, specialy on the first 30 min of application and I also dare to add David Beckham Homme to the mix to form the Sexiest trinity of masculine wood fragrances and even considering their weaknesses. You CAN'T go wrong with any of them.
NRFH Bleu Noire, is the spicier of them all, it pinches my nose with some fresh ground pink peper and fresh cut ginger, some fresh squeezed green limes, laying down casually on wood heaven, a little honey, then NRFH takes the the long Musk highway. At this time, relax on your seat and enjoy the view, this luxury SUV is in auto-pilot. Wherever is your destination you are sure to get there happy and confident remembering only the beautiful scenes at the end of this journey.

Update: in HUMID weather this one kicks ass! It REALLY expands !

mrtnlkn

cardamon and vetiver is such a good combination for me!

LadyIva

While the original Narciso Rodriguez for Him EDT and EDP are a bit risky, with that funky Kouros-like animalic musk and violets galore, the Bleu Noir series (both in EDP and EDT editions) is more crowd-pleasing and less alpha-male powerful - which also makes it much less interesting and impactful... I don't have a bad word to say about Bleu Noir frags, they are very nice, a bit more youthful, wearable on all occasions; the musk is noticeably toned down, in favour of spicy-aromatic components. To each their own, but among the entire NR For Him line, my firm favourite is the funk-king himself, EDP Intense (in the sturdy bronze-coloured bottle).

aalvar

Tried it on my skin at the fragrance store, and i really like it. In my opinion the EDT version is much better than the EDP. Its clean, a little bit like refreshing flowery essential oil blends with sweetness at the right portion. Sadly its a bit pricy in my country. Longevity is pretty good, i’ll give it a 7,5/10. But the silage and projection is just okay.
I see some similarity to cartier declaration but not a clone. Bleu Noir is a modern version of declaration, therefore its better.

ahsif

love the scent, from the initial spray!

i only have one problem, it doesn't last that long on me, and becomes skin scent within the 1st hour!

does everyone faces something similar?

can any one recommend something that smells very close to this, and does have amazing projection and lasting power!

the scent is just sooo inviting, warm and just amazing!

Cortina1981

Definitely strong resembelance with Declaration, upon initial spray,I immediately recognized what everyone's talking about,so if you like Declaration,as I do,you'll like this.Nothing to add.Great scent!

Konga5000

This has a bit more depth than Cartier Declaration. And a nicer bottle! At first this did not last long on me but after my bottle got used up more-- it did get stronger (yay!). This will fill that "I need a cardamom spice frag in my collection" void.

The quality is very solid too! Happy to find this at Marshalls in a gift set for $39.99 and my bottle is 3.4 oz!

Blind buy safe-- but you must love that cardamon spice smell !

Purpose

Smells like a sticky sweet candy to my nose. A big NO from me. It’s my signature room spray until I can get rid of it.

Many reviewers have noted Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir's similarity to Cartier Declaration. I have never tested the latter, so I approach this fragrance lacking a comparison.

On first sniff I quite like Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir. I am quite partial to the smooth, spicy cardamom accord in this fragrance. The spicy aspect works extremely well with Narciso Rodriguez's signature musk accord, and I also enjoy the salty vetiver note in the base which provides a masculine finish.

Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir wears relatively close to the skin, however, the longevity is quite decent. Due to this fragrance's subtlety, you could easily wear this fragrance all year round. It would also suit an office environment as it is not likely to offend in close proximity.

I personally don't consider this fragrance signature-scent worthy, and I do find it lacking in originality. It does have its place in a fragrance wardrobe, but more as a grab and go scent. I do, however, find Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir quite sophisticated and well-blended. This fragrance is best suited to a more mature gentleman rather than a young teenage boy.

I find Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir to be quite soothing and clean. It's not likely to appeal to my partner, but needless to say, it would be interesting to smell a spicy musk such as this one on his skin.

Casamir

I recently received a sample of NRBN along with several other samples. I happen to like the original NR for Him (I'm a sucker for violet leaf), but Bleu Noir is quite different.
On first spray, it seemed sweet and woody, almost praline-ish - I could have easily thought that it was an A*Men flanker. After letting it dry down some, maybe an hour, the sweetness turned to more of a powdery/musky note, and vetiver began to show up, becoming more familiar to my nose. I kept sniffing my wrist, trying to remember what it reminded me of. Then it came to me - it reminds me of Prada Infusion d'Homme (not the same, just along the same lines).

after several days of experiments, i can conclude that this bleu noir is not suitable for hot sunny day. when u r sweating, the smell is gone. for the 1st 1 hour after spray, it do radiates like around arm area. after that, it just linger on and off at my nose (maybe the smell comes from my neck). lasted around 3 hours on my skins during day. i also try this on evening to night time, its still lasts for about 3-4 hours and the smell not radiates like the 1st 1 hour. smells like cartier declaration which i bought back in 2003.. nice smell i do like it but its not my type. maybe suitable when u wanna have s*x with ur gf and 'declare' that she is the only 1 LOL

Wow - what a nice scent - Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir for Him (NRBN)- where HAVE you been all my life. I am so glad I found you.
Classy, warm, sensual, sophisticated and smokey. Bravo Sonia Constant (insert my applause here).
I do not know about the resemblance to Cartier Declaration I have not tried it.
NRBN reminds me very much of Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver(KLBDV) NRBN is added with a lovely smokey dry down which KLBDV lacks.
I love the NRBN scent just as mush as KLBDV - maybe even more because it has got more power and sillage and the smokiness.
I can not tell about the Longevity yet, because I just got it - but I will make an update and tell about it later.

Longevity update: on clothes 10hrs+
on skin 4-6hrs+ drydown is to die for...
Update: I have bought Cartier Declaration - allthough very similar to NRBN I like NRBN better.

Purpose

I get straight up TdH upon application and throughout. I haven’t smelled Déclaration so can’t compare the two. I applied on skin and what I got was heavy citrus and Vetiver which I didn’t like. It felt sticky and messy although in the late dry down it did smell much better.

On clothes it smells WAY better. I was able to get the rest of the notes blended in nicely. In the air I get a clean, soapy, slightly sweet Vetiver that is very pleasant. I could see myself wearing this day or night, casually. I enjoy it and will be wearing it a lot.

Performance on me was very good. Applied it at night around 10pm and still getting whiffs in the morning. It’s different from anything else I have in my collection but is very pleasant.

Narciso Rodriguez never disappoints!

dtwaddle

This was a blind buy based on the high praise of the fragcom in Facebook groups. I'm usually a bit apprehensive to buy into hype. But I've noticed that this is an under-the-radar gem in the broader sense of the entire world. I'd never heard of it, so that was a plus.

Oddly, it's quite linear, but more than any other fragrance I've ever tried, it bothers me not at all. Being linear is often a criticism I have against a lot of other fragrances. Here, it works. It does have some development though. The opening gives me a bit of a spice with the cardamom/nutmeg combo, but I can't really pick out either one specifically. I also get a bit of vetiver in the opening. And the strongest player to my nose is the beautiful ebony wood that lasts throughout the long drydown.

And of course there's the Narciso Rodriguez signature musk in the drydown as well.

Overall the scent is beautiful. Strong, masculine, smooth, elegant, refined. I don't have many occasions to wear it, nor very much appropriate attire for a scent this sublime. I never wear suits, no formal events. I'm an entrepreneur and work wherever there's internet – coffee shops, restaurants, home, etc. I wear jeans most of the time or my uniform to my part time bartending job. Today is my birthday, so I'm wearing it with my jeans today, no apologies.

This is one of my favorite scents ever. It lasts a long time, but the projection tapers back within a couple of hours. The longevity is anywhere from 8 to 12 hours depending on the day. I apply to pulse points on the skin, then add a couple of sprays to the lapel area of my shirt to extend the longevity a bit.

After enjoying this one for some time, I now wish I'd gotten a bigger bottle. I have the 50 mL bottle. I'm gonna go for the 100 mL next time. I'd also love to try Narciso Rodriguez for Him. His women's fragrances are lovely too. One of my favorite designer houses.

Bleu Noir is sublime, transcendent, and an essential addition to the collection of every gentleman.

Smells like Earl Grey tea with bergamot, dry down very much like Terre de Hermes.

After read many rave reviews I have tested in local store. It was stunned and made me crave for having one at first smell. I also had tried on EDP version but it didn't convince me enough.

Now I have it and after a few tests, I'm glad I chose this instead of EDP version. The EDP is quite good enough but far less than this one.

High versatility. Nice smell for most occasions and seasons. May not work best in winter but good enough for a dumb reach.

In my opinion, I could not find how similarity between this one and Terre d'Hermes. I own both and after compared side by side, I found a bit similar in the dry down but not quite identical to me.

Combining caraway and cardamom in a fragrance doesn't mean it is a clone of Declaration of Cartier! last time I checked, mixing these two oils isn't a registered trademark for Cartier..
Anyways, I detect caraway here which is not mentioned (caraway which is sweet not strong pungent like cumin note), and oddly I detected grapefruit or some citruss note too?
In my opinion I give this fragrance thumbs up, unlike Declaration which I find the cumin is too strong there.

Thee Maestro

This is NOT A CLONE of Declaration or anything else, really. What it is, is a beautiful blend in which most of the notes are well pronounced. It qualifies as a vetiver, a cardamom and a musk scent. It might remind you of these other fragrances but it's not a copy! This also comes off more mass pleasing than Terre or Declaration.

Good performance on my skin and a compliment getter for sure!

I love this fragrance! As I do Terre and Declaration, it's not redundant to own all three, like I do.

MrCologne007

From the very first sniff I took of this at Hudson's Bay, I needed to have a bottle. It smells so deep, musky, sweet and mysterious. Smells like sweet musky wood to me. Absolutely love it!

Side note: I sprayed this on in the morning yesterday, and when I woke up this morning I could still smell it on my hand. Absolutely insane longetivity on my skin.

agonzony

This fragrance is an almost perfect combination of Terre d'Hermes and Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina.

RM84e

I like all the notes and can detect them, but there is a sort of sweetness that's very off-putting and out of place in this composition. The labdanum from the amber is a major contributor to that and stronger than represented in the notes here I think.

jackfort

Intoxicating smell. The kind that makes you smell your harm repeatedly. Reminds Terre d'Hermes a lot. (In a totally better classy way for me)

8.5/10

agonzony

I've never smelled Declaration, so I can't attest to the similarities between that fragrance in this one. However, TdH EDP was my signature scent for quite some time, and for those saying that this fragrance is nothing like TdH, I definitely disagree. Having said that, NRBN feels smoother (almost creamy), slightly sweeter, and darker.

I got bored with TdH, and it wasn't much of a compliment-earner, so I don't know if I can pull the trigger and purchase this one. I can say, though, that I would've certainly chosen this fragrance over TdH had it been around when I found TdH. It's a very attractive fragrance, and I look forward to smelling the more classic scents from the Narciso Rodriguez house.

Scent: 6/10

EDIT: the longer this scent is on my skin, the more it differentiates itself from TdH. It seems to definitely maintain that DNA, however, its differences become more pronounced; most noticeably, that sweet creaminess. I dig it.

DrNDJas

Bleu Noir feels like NR's attempt to go mainstream. It gives a hat tip to several popular classic men's fragrances noted many times in reviews below. For me, Bleu Noir is a more complete, interesting, and ultimately successful fragrance than either Declaration or Terre d'Hermes. It has the cardamom/slight b.o. accord from Declaration but more does it with more subtlety, as this vibe is toned down by omitting caraway and adding nutmeg (thankfully!). Hermes similarities are undoubtably from the vetiver and cedar, but without that heavy blast of orange and patchouli. Adding the warm amber gives Bleu Noir a warmth and depth that TdH lacks. For me, this is a great example of olfactory variation on popular themes rather than mere imitation or cloning. The result is a classy, wearable, woody/spicy/musk that works for all occasions and seasons. This is a great release that manages to capture mainstream appeal while retaining uniqueness stemming from that musky Narciso Rodriguez signature.

Fipo010812

In the same vibe of Dunhill Icon and Cartier Declaration.

giuseppe98gp83

A pleasant fragrance. It reminds me vaguely Bleu de chanel EDP. NICE!

naelk

NRBN edt is a very nice fragrance. It is very bright, sexy, very fresh and well done except the first 20 seconds which has synthetic alcohol. It reminds me of Voyage d'Hermes edt. The dry down reminds me of dior sauvage. i prefer the opening over the dry down. I can enjoy the smell for around 1 - 1.5 hour with moderate projection before reach the dry down which is less interesting. I think NRBN is safer and easier to wear than other competitors like Terre'd Hermes, declaration and voyage.

My evaluation:
Smell: opening 10/10, dry down 7/10
projection: 6/10 :1 - 2 hours (moderate), then become soft close to skin.
longevity: 7/10
complements: 8/10
versatility:9/10
uniqueness: 7/10
Occasion: work sent, casual, signature sent, dating, club, suit.
Bottle Design: 10/10
Price: 9/10

Overall: 9/10 love and must buy.

well done Narciso.

Smells like terre d'hermes indeed. Formal, doesn't fit shirt and jeans.

nanru2000

Pulcro, limpio, profundo y sereno.
La verdad hasta yo lo usaría, creo que en la noche y vestida para matar, como la película, lo usaría.
Si me decido aviso.

In a few words: Bleu de Declaration by Cartier

Yes, that fragrance doesn't exist, but if it did, it would smell like Bleu Noir. The similarities to Declaration are undeniable. I am a fan of Declaration (and Bleu de Chanel), so I really like this fragrance.

No way is this a clone of Declaration...but more of a cousin or a spiritual brother. I don't get a Terre d'Hermes resemblance other than how Terre d'Hermes is connected to Declaration.

I wonder whether this would be good for the office/work. I think it has the "come hither" vibe like Bleu de Chanel. Whenever you feel you can wear Bleu de Chanel, you could probably wear this also.

Sillage and Longevity are normal and reasonable. I have two bottles...I am a fan!

Vespertine__Milo

Totally fabulous. Totally classic, elegant, appriopriate for any occassion, yet bloody sexy in non vulgar way. So appealing I'm stealing it discreetly from my husband and occassionally wearing them myself, though for a woman to wear this cedar scent is somehow daring idea.

And fortunately for me - totally underestimated - gone without echo in the masses of novelties - which for me is good as I don't want to smell this scent on anyone else than my partner.

charlieq08

This one took me by surprise. When I first saw the bottle I wasn't sure what to expect.
Upon first spray, I immediately thought of Cartier Declaration and 1920 by Tous, (which I like them too, specially Declaration by Cartier), but this one, in my opinion, has a subtle hint of sweetness that makes a good difference. I haven't tried other Narciso Rodriguez releases, but for me, this is a good one. manly, elegant, and easy to wear. It last on my skin, but it seems not to project much, which is really a sad thing considering how good it smells. For sure I will wear it often.

Jondelour

Every time I've worn this, I've been suited up sharply for a formal occasion.

It has definitely complimented and enhanced formal wear.

I now only choose to wear it in this setting.

It receives attention and compliments and ladies have literally ran at me to investigate.

I think it brings some very modern, suave, Woody, spicy freshness and that similar sense of money (literally) and maturity of Terre D'Hermes for a younger market.

Love it.

Ivanus

Fragrance - Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir
Bottle from - 2017

He's got that sexy, yet elegant vibe going on.
Bleu Noir opens on my skin with a bit fresh and spicy cardamom with the tender trace of grapefruit and woodiness laying on top of a moderatly sweet musk.
As time goes by,Bleu Noir becomes deeper, darker, more musky and woody with a nice touch of pleasant vetiver.

Longevity - 7/10(7+ hours)
Silage/Projection - 7/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 1-2 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent's evolution)
Weather - For more or less any time of year.Best in autumn.I personally wouldn't wear this on a really hot summer days.
Versatility - 9/10
Age - 22+
Compliments - 8/10
Scent - 8/10

Main notes according to me -
cardamom,musk,cedar,vetiver,nutmeg,grapefruit.

The drydown is deeper, darker, more musky and woody and I get some -woodiness,vetiver,spices and musk.

Emotions -sexy, yet elegant, sensual, dark vibe elegance, seductive.

Occasion -for more or less any ocasion.

Could be a nice signature scent. You'll get compliments with this one.

zbrown67

Narciso Rodriguez Blue Noir is a true man's sent. Right of the top you can smell the sweet musky scent. I have received several comments on this cologne. I think the longevity is moderate, but will linger on the skin for about 5 hours. This is a true unique scent that I think most men must have.

Fendy1

Juicy citrus with spice - it's up there.

smellsbells

cumin bomb like cartier esence declaration wow..Decent longevity(wore to the gym today) actually pretty decent but not blue like others.More black to me. Its dry and woody to me.

Konga5000

Spicy, warm, dense. The longevity and projection are good (I have frag-eating skin--this lasted longer than most!). This is not quite what I had expected from Narciso ; I was imagining that "musk base" from his female creations--it seems not to be here, nevertheless; this does what it's supposed to do and it does smell natural and masculine.
GREAT in heat and humidity-- it seems to "blossom" therein.
Not too expensive: I got this as a gift set from Marshalls with a mini and a body gel for...... $40.00 !

Reminds me a LOT of Issey Myake L'eau Bleu for men.

WARNING: do not blind buy--this is not for everyone . And you must LOVE cardamom ! Period.

Danceswithscent

Lovely fume, major projection and lasting issues. Really love the smell, similar to Declaration but only lasts about 2 hours on my skin. Top note master, rest is meh

mukul_india

Nice perfume with depth.Average longevity and projection.declaration by cartier and this do share some common notes but both are way different.Classy one..

Ricachii

Currently using this perfume. It lasted longer than I thought. For me, 1 spray lasted more than 8 hours, from the time I left for class to the time I sleep.I enjoy the psychological affect of each notes. While I was delivering a speech in class, the vetiver and cardamom calms me down and tone down my anxiety. The nutmeg help enhance my concentration so I can focus on delivering better. I like how each notes compliment and add onto each other.

All in all, I enjoyed this fragrance.

Fenrir

I love the scent so much. But it's my last bottle because the projection is very very very weak. I wear 3 sprays on my chest, but it smells nothing to me. I have to wear 8 sprays just to be able to smell a little scent from my body.

02098888

Typically, I don’t like musk. However this is the only musk fragrance which I enjoy. Sweetness of oily musk is balanced with spicy notes like cardamom. While original naciso for him made me dizzy; this one made me calm and peace. A master piece.

Motasim

sameh

Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir Narciso Rodriguez for men is a very good one from Narciso Rodriguez its lemony fresh scent suitable for the summer ( especially with average longevity & projection ).

Roman86

The Terre d'Hermes resemblance is only a passing reminder on initial spray and it quickly settles into its own. I prefer this to Terre d'Hermes. This is one I am not afraid to overspray because it's a musky fragrance that is not overpowering or offensive. Beautiful compliment-getter.

zenais86

Tdh has orange approach, this one have spicy! Closer to cartier declaration.

mohammedbrik7

This made me almost vomit. the opening is really good but the dry-down is very salty and spicy. definitely not my juice.

andrei1986

This is such an seductive and elegant scent with very good performance...at least on me.Try this on a date and i am pretty sure you won't fail.

GinoK

I think it is fantastic, makes me feel good.

Wordley

A pleasant, warm “all year round” fragrance that’s so similar to Terre D’Hermes you probably wouldn’t want to own both. This is better priced and does more or less the same job.

The only significant point of difference between this and TDH is the opening. Replace the sharp burst of citrus you get with TDH for the spicy opening of BN and that’s the distinguishing feature between the two offerings. From there on in, the dry down between BN and TDH is pretty much identical. The musk of BN kicks in after about 20 minutes, but remains heavily textured with the nutmeg and cardamom of the top notes. So, to that extent, gives the well balanced warmth one gets from the TDH heart notes. Move forward about an hour or so and the spice is softened with cedar and vetiver, just as it is with TDH.

In terms of longevity, expect about 4 hours of noticeable projection followed by another 3 as a skin scent. On the subject of projection, I’d rate this as somewhere between moderate and strong, with sillage being just moderate. So, pretty much the same performance as TDH in my experience.

Would I buy this? Yes, as a perfectly acceptable, better priced, less strident alternative to TDH.

aaron_luke_e

This fragrance is absolutely fantastic. An extremely simple fresh fragrance with some added depth from the Musk, Amber, and Nutmeg giving this fresh fragrance some lovely sweetness. My only issue with this fragrance is that it doesn't last awfully long. Only about 4-6 hours with a very small scent bubble. Which is a shame to me because this is a fragrance I would love to smell on myself all day. But, you can always reapply. I think this is an all-star fresh fragrance that can be worn year round. Just not too many sprays in the Summertime. And also remember that Simplicity is timeless.

NOSEX

If you want to smell like a premium sushi with high ingredient quality this is 4u.it really reminds me smell of good sushi :-()@
and i'm not joking!
It's like the difference between bad sushi to a very good sushi,it's all about the ingredients quality...
and this one is quality!
try this maybe it suits you.

Tazahr

Terri d'hermes EDP + high cardamom/nutmeg dose.

A much more wearable version of terre d'hermes. Did not impress me much but the sillage always gives tons of unsolicited compliments in office. Probably more than any other fragrance that I have.

I think the reason is its uniqueness and sophistication.

Performance is above average.

However, it might be a redundant purchase if you have TDH.

impressedguy

Worse than the first two "for him" by NR, it opens quite messy, to settle down to a generic bitter low quality cardamon. Really boring and basic, sad to hear that NR decided to heavily promote this one while abandoning the other two "for him". Full thumbs down from me.

*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

Not disgusting, unwearable, or anything bad, but blah, soft, soapy, musky, lemony. Not worth buying, the sample is more than enough for me,

Shawnnick

Well I've owned this around 2 weeks now and have had compliments every single time I've worn it.Personally i love this fragrance but i can see the similarity with tdh and how after the original this had a lot to live up to.

likesgoodscents

This stuff doesn't hold a candle to the original For Him. It smells nice and all but is very boring. Nowhere near as captivating, challenging and fun as For Him (Original).

In other words, this is a Toyota Corolla; For Him (Original) is a Lexus RC F.

iamoir

Musk and nutmeg right away on the skin once you spray it. Then it's cardamom and a more prominent vetiver than the voting indicates. All to lead in a "delicious" fresh spicy woody drydown. An autumnal scent with sweet-ish musks and a hint of warm amber. Some sharpness and pencil shavings detected as well, very complementary.
Unmistakably manly, but I like it on myself, I'm female. I wear the "for her" counterpart and thought hey, let's check out the male version, and I'm not dissapointed at all.
It does have similiarities with Cartier Declaration, but the latter lacks one thing: the musk

Shawnnick

Quite shocked at how this fragrance is disregarded.Personally i love this it's mature and masculine and i get average longevity and projection. The cardamom note is fantastic and rich backed by woods.
Quite the mysterious and interesting scent in the air i find.
Admittedly i wish it performed better but as a work scent it's pretty much perfect for my needs. Will certainly buy again, far more interesting than other 'blue' fragrances.

lespritz.1

Unlike the original 100%, smells like a blend of TDH edt and w/e else. Mild. Very...mild...don't need to own

Arbre Amer

Utterly insignificant when compared to the original For Him. What a serious let down from Narciso...

A very banal, typically male barbershop type fougere

sloggett92

i think of this as a fresh scent that reminds me of Calvin Klein CK one. I love it although my mum thinks its not that great. wasnt into it it so much when first sprayed but after it dried the ck one scent came through in it. does smell cool and if a guy walked passed me smelling like this, id crepily be following him to soak up the scent. could imagine this scent would be nice to wear in a nice casino with a group of mates or on a date to a nice restaurant.

Blueslippers

Declaration by Cartier with a few more woodsy notes, a little less Cumin and dialled down 10%.

This is very, very similar, but a little more modern, which is a really great thing imho, as I love Declaration, but this kind of gets rid of its faults (the hint of BO) and dresses it in a lovely bottle.

I own both at present, but when I run out of Declaration I don't think i'll replace it as this is just that little bit better for me. The only caveat to that is longevity, which is top class with Declaration, but not so sure with this.

Master under threat from apprentice it is then!

maxpowerboston

Woody, synthetic (obviously) musk, and heavy cardamom. Not really dense but might be a bit much for very warm weather. A bit unusual smelling in that I can't think of a very similar scent. The Cartier Declaration comparison is only slightly close to my nose. Definitely not exact like many reviews said.

Longevity was above average (7-9 hours) with very strong projection for 1-2 hours.

7.0/10. Interesting but there are better inoffensive office type scents on the market. It's versatile so if you find it cheap go nuts.

sf2explus

a more creamy decloration with a little less spice done

Jromas

This is basically a muskier version of Dunhill Icon. I find this one is a little more mellow seeing as how Icon kind of screams to get your attention. This is very versatile. Can be worn whenever, wherever. I can barely smell it when wearing it though. My skin apparently wears this formulation, not the other way around. Be better if it lasted longer. I'd pick this over Icon though. If you love this scent and felt like getting stupid with your money there's always Sospiro Adante which trumps both Icon and this.

Trab

Nice musky Cardamon opening with a slightly vetiver/woody dry down though the vetiver isn't too dominant which makes it more special - doesn't project that well on my skin but ok than I've to spray a bit more

Hissxn

This is a nice flanker to the beautiful Narciso Rodriguez for him. The opening is a very strong Cardamon and musk-ish scent however the dry down it self is very pleasant. Overall it's a nice fragrance for when dressed up or on date.

7.5/10

zenais86

Some of declaration of cartier is there inside at 90% but... this is more wearable by young guys and for me it is better. I love it but sometimes can appear a little bit vulgar.

Metal&ice

this smells like the name implies... It smells like dark masculine navy blue. I've tried wearing it with black clothes but i felt like it wasn't matching...

I think men who love to wear navy or indigo blue will absolutely love this one. It just matches the color of some reason. For me i don't wear fragrances at work but if it's your thing go ahead because i think too that it's versatile.

Odie Cologne

A dry lemony vetiver, clean and crisp! It has an alpha air of sophistication to it and in my view best worn with a suit. A little more cordial than TDH and though the comparison between the two may be apt, I'm sorry that it was made because now my nose goes right there. This is a great fragrance in it's own right and deserves to stand on it's own.

no-fi

While most flankers are a pointless exercise, Bleu Noir really elevates the futility to a new level. It's simply Cartier Declaration, sans the sweaty cumin note, in dark blue version of the Narciso Rodriguez bottle.

On the plus side, it's quite a nice dark blue bottle, and Declaration is quite a nice scent.

6opar

Narciso Rodriguez love their musks. This one is a bit spicy, a tad sweet, and mostly woody. There is a gentle satin feel to it which fits great within the scent.
Very comfortable and easy to wear.

Again another quality release from Narciso, but i prefer the previous ones. They have an oomph character which the Bleu Version lacks.

Great for a night out & perfect for the cooler temperature. Oh yeah every time I wear this, I get laid 100% chance #PantyDropper

Heavily Refreshing

An excellent fragrance that works as an all season scent. Very pleasant and refreshing as well as spicy and rich. Quite an all rounder. Great for regular office wear as it is a very inoffensive fragrance. Works very well as a casual and semi formal scent for dinners and meetings.
This juice has a mild oily texture. And the sprayer on the bottle is really nice.
I get a 4 hour longevity at the max, and a 2 hour projection. Wish it performed better, but I use an atomiser so I can enjoy this fragrance through the day.
Highly recommend.

harperhilton

ok, i have to re-write me review: i started out not impressed, and have come to love this. i still think it has much of voyage d'hermes' top-notes -- but the dry-down is very different and rather addictive: cedar (iso e super, no doubt) and musk under warm cardamomy spices. mmmmmmmmmmmm ...
