Nirmala by Molinard is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Famous Nirmala in new designed flacon is launched in 2017. The vintage style flacon is decorated with a bow in same style as the newest Molinard fragrance Le Reve Nirmala.

Two years ago with special Baccarat edition Molinard brings back the vintage flacon design used to be sold as a set of miniatures Molinard (Les 12 Merveilles de Molinard / Molinard's 12 Babies), and contained the old formula of fragrances by Molinard, among which were Madrigal, 1811, Baiser du Faune, Habanita and others…

The composition of Nirmala remains the same. Top notes are mandarin orange, grapefruit and passionfruit; middle notes are mango, jasmine and hibiscus; base notes are vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and cedar.

First of all I grew up in a tropical city, eating mangoes every day. There's no winter, only summer. Granted all noses are wired differently, I smell real ripened mango first, then a bit of the passion fruit, and little flowers. The drydown is great because is slightly different than most gourmand. I always just smell vanilla with the rest but this one I smell mostly vanilla, jasmine and sandalwood. I like that is similar to Innocent TM because I get the most compliments when I wear that one. I bought it because my Innocent is 40% and they cost like $190 2.6 oz now (I bought this one for $54, 2.5 oz, Amazon). I am happy with my purchase and I am using it starting now at 66°F here in the OR Spring. It's more refreshing than Innocent and more fruity. I enjoy both very much. Will probably purchase again. My fiancé likes it, he says it smells yummy like mangos 🥭

The opening of the fragrance is very beautiful in my opinion. We can smell the passion fruit but in a very fresh and clean way ( I usually hate sweet perfume) I loved it, even if it's far away from what I use to like. But then, when it dry down after 2, 3 hours it just leave a simple, basic vanilla without any personality. I'm truly disappointed with this perfume that gave me delusional hope of a fresh and clean tropical scent.

Starts off fresh, sweet, and a touch floral. Quite feminine. It's a very pleasant opening but sadly reaches a powder-point of no return in only a few minutes. The dry down smells like slightly sweet makeup right out of a compact.

This perfume is exactly how I think Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder *should* smell like. Beautiful fruity tropical notes of a luscious honey-sweet mango, I hope I don’t burn through my 30 ml bottle too quickly as I got it only for £25. Instant antidepressant for summer. The tonka bean in base is strong and complements the mango, while the hibiscus and sour passionfruit freshens it up. I prefer this to Vilhelm Parfumerie’s Mango Skin as it has less of a soapy drydown. Remarkable longevity of 10-11 hours at least on me. Didn’t expect anything less from powerhouse Molinard.

Edit: I asked for a backup 75 ml bottle of this for my June birthday. Allbeauty for £45!

Tropical bomb! Sweet, fruity, but not sickly. Ciruses and flowers make it also somewhat fresh. Love it!

picture a sweet heart wife who is religious, traditional, cute and lovely character, tends for her garden, wears flowery clothes, makes art craft, very balanced and loyal to his husband : that kind of innocence because there is 0 sexiness involved here. Now picture that woman on vacation sipping a daiquiri seating at the patio at the Hotel Nacional in Habana in a very sunny warm afternoon refreshed by the breeze coming from the sea and the fruity drink. It's a happy time. There is a dirty note at the bottom that rather gives it the more grown up age instead of the childish fragrance that I'd be without that touch of wood.

Upon reading the disappointing reviews on the now mutilated Angel I had a craving for Nirmala. This is so beautiful and fun on its own- I often forget I own it, and am delighted when I bring it out again.
Back to the distant memory of when Angel was released and how dazzling it was- well I just went hard layering Nirmala with Reminiscence Patchouli and it’s the 90’s Angel! Yay!

I discovered this some 10 years ago and bought 4 bottles before it got expensive. It is Angel-ish, no question. Remember this scent was first introduced in the 1950's, well before Angel, not 2017. My husband loves it. I love it. Gourmand, as my husband says, good enough to eat.

It does have similarity with "Innocent", but there is also obvious difference, ok, I would define Nirmala as "Tropical Innocent" - and I find it really nice. I think I can imagine myself craving it, especially in the mornings when I go to work, but wish to be somewhere in South India, eating fruit salad and watching people around me... :)

jonbecca

Maybe I would like this more in the winter. It is very sticky sweet and agree with the review that it is mature. My teenager stole it and wore it one early summer evening and it was too much and too mature- just didn't fit her youth. Not sure how I feel about this one.

Karmanae

This smells really nice if I sniff it from a distance, but when I smell it up close... uh it smells like someone didn’t shower in 2-3 days and decided to spray a tropical body mist to freshen up. Lol idk how I feel about this man

Jacquis

Gorgeous fruity and tropical perfume with body. This Nirmala is gorgeous, fresh and sweet but not juvenile. It does remind me a bit of the fruity top of Angel Muse EDT and of course, Angel Crossiere 2019. Very happy, bright but mature. Brings a little gourmand fruitiness to a cold day. Exactly what I was searching for.

Angel eau crossiere

Liene

This smells like a hot, foamy bath in the best possible way - warm, fruity, soapy and soft. However performance is rather potent - medium to heavy sillage and lasts all day.
Hibiscus, coumarin and vanilla takes vibrant, soft spicy (almost woody), soapy (on the verge of creamy) foreground. Slightly misbehaving grapefruit and jasmine gives some intrigue, but mango and passion fruit are in charge of fruitiness.
Unique and amazing. Easily suited for any season or time of the day, however everyone could have their preferences, perhaps considering it too warm, too heavy, too fruity. Pleasant, but not a crowd-pleaser.

ViouAmara

If there was an « angel mugler » note,I would have pushed on it. Heavily.
It’s Angel having washed its hair with a fruity shampoo.
Fans only.

Such a gem of tropical goodness. The mango and passionfruit notes - which are tricky to do without smelling like BO - are beautiful here.

This is sweet, juicy, and fruity throughout but the base gets progressively more complex with floral and woody notes popping in.

I don't wear a lot of gourmand fragrances, but I do love this one.

tropical vanilla soapy paradise

PerfumeForLainy

This is a quirky delicious thing, nothing indolic about it.

Some of the reviewers suggest strong resemblance to TM Angel Eau Croisiere and since I have both I can not fully agree. While TM is some juicy tropical coctails in paradise, Nirmala is an exquisite small wooden candy shop, full of open cedar chests that contain all sorts of fruity delights.
Icing powder lifts in the air every time the candy is moved around and mixes all the smells together, leaving the bedazzled customers in a happy trance, walking among the goods while filling the little box they are going to take with them.
It is a bliss when it lasts, but you can not stay forever in the shop, can you? Sooner or later you have to leave, enjoy your candy and alas.. be left with an empty box.
The whole experience lasts about 4 hours for me and I enjoy every minute of it.

onimoka

On my skin its very soapy at the beginning. Fruitty-fresh and a bit musky. Long lasting. Nothing like TM Angel (with or without patchouli). I like it :)

Pempipot

This is a really peculiar scent.
the very beginning was so tart and sour that it almost smelled like some citrus cologne gone bad which I guess is what another review called "cat pee"). That didn't last and Nirmala soon became so much much better!

Forget the opening notes: this is some sort of... patchouli free Angel? The resemblance is there, for sure. I'm really intrigue by it: because his is supposedly a vintage fragrance that hasn't changed much. Is this Angel grandma? Or another beautifully done Angel clone? No way for me to know!

What I can say is that it's a wonderful fruity rich scent. It's SO much better than Angel! Lighter and more airy, without that super dense gourmand note. This gets better after every sniff: you get mango, and jasmine, and tons of vanilla, and tonka. Blind buy it, if you see this one around. you won't be disappointed.

DarlingNikki

Hmm, Angel without that horrid patchouli note? I'm seriously intrigued!

Rose du soir

On my skin, Nirmala reveals surprising notes of musky black currant and various fruits. It shares its fruity notes with Angel, but even more with Innocent, as just like Innocent, it lacks patchouli, and both smell pretty similar. The sweetness is moderate, somewhere in between the unisex sweetness of Innocent and the intense sweetness of Angel. The sillage is moderate, and it's pretty linear, unlike Innocent. Despite its moderate sweetness, it might be a little bit heavy in hot weather, but is easy to wear the rest of the year.
It's an addictive and affordable fruity fragrance that will be loved by everyone, and even more by Angel and Innocent fans.

AHeartLikeMine

This is a deeper version of Mugler Angel Eau Croisiere that replaces the patchouli with tonka.

(Or, more likely, Eau Croisiere resulted from a perfumer sniffing Nirmala and thinking, "I wonder what this would smell like if we replaced the tonka with Angel DNA?)

avierra93

this is closer to what i had imagined angel smelling like, if you like angel but cant hang with the armpit patchouli(my skin amplifies anything sharp like this and makes it unbearable) youll probably enjoy this. great lasting power, enough projection to be surrounded by it and catch whiffs on yourself throughout the day, but not enough to suffocate nearby people

cinnakitty

I really love this. It has the qualities of Angel that I loved before it changed to be more of the lighter notes, this feels denser somehow. It’s fruity but in a somewhat fermented sense, the cedar is the main star here. However if cedar isn’t your thing it may not work for you. It feels like a grown up fruit perfume, it isn’t flowerbomb!

My kids weren’t keen, in fact they suggested it smells like armpit sweat, but despite that I like it. It feels comfy, a good winter perfume, without amber which I think of as also being wintery.

Deutsch100

REALLY loving this one. On my skin, it is very, very similar to Mugler Angel. This current Nirmala, on my skin is so not tropical fruit, or sweet or really vanilla. It is a soapy Mugler Angel.
While patchouli does not seem to be listed, this pulls a lot of patchouli on me. If you like Mugler Angel, you will love Nirmala.
Longevity on my skin is much longer than Angel. Sillage is strong, but not offensive.

I literally just sampled this scent as I was considering buying it in a sale and I am so shocked to find that it smells like Cat's pee !! And it's not just on me but from the bottle too. Which is such a shame as I love Habanita, so I just can't comprehend this.

The drydown is much better and thank goodness it starts quickly but even then this is a weird one ! I don't smell anything remotely tropical or like a mango, hence I can't even think what note would be responsible for this but I do know that it's a no from me unfortunetly :-(

This is one more of my recent blind buys among Molinard frags: even in France they are difficult to find in stores (and to test), and the last time I was in Paris no time to drop by the Molinard boutique.

I couldn't resist, indeed, the perfume pyramid above which is in fact quite accurate. We do get some citruses notes during the opening, but they are short and globally not significant, as very quickly they are overwhelmed by a fake-gourmand passion-mango association, mango being IMHO the dominant scent. This association acts like sort of an orchid-like twist, while vanilla is struggling to enhance jasmine and hibiscus as a counterpart.

The woody notes never succeed in providing a real base to these airy scents, so my next task is to combine this frag with high-quality oud frags, as I expect that this will probably be quite amazing.

All in all, one more outstanding and neverless classical work of Molinard from Grasse (actually it is a vintage frag).

adrienn99

@kl99 think it's pr exercise to increase brand value...as I see it tgey made the bottles fancier and increased prices on the way

kl99

Molinard will be famous to relaunch the same identical fragrances with the same identical name, notes, concentration every year. They make an announcement like it was a new realise, but the fragrance is the same of one or two years ago. And that's it. Sometime they change the bottles. Stop.
