Decadence Marc Jacobs for women
Perfume rating 3.75 out of 5 with 6,463 votes
Decadence by Marc Jacobs is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Decadence was launched in 2015. Decadence was created by Annie Buzantian and Ann Gottlieb. Top notes are Plum, Saffron and Iris; middle notes are Orris, Jasmine Sambac and Bulgarian Rose; base notes are Vetiver, Papyrus and Liquidambar.
Marc Jacobs presents Decadence, his first "mature" fragrance in 2015. Each of his pillar fragrances represents a distinctive character: Daisy is a sweet girl next door, Lola is quirky, and Decadence is sexy and sophisticated.
The rich and elegant composition was created in collaboration with perfumer Annie Buzantian. The top notes include Italian plum, saffron and iris. Bulgarian rose, Sambac jasmine and orris root form the heart of the perfume, while the base includes warm liquid amber, vetiver and papyrus wood.
The bottle design, which is a "personal talisman” of the designer as a symbol of opulence and glamour, is reminiscent of an emerald green handbag with python pattern, gold chain and black tassel. The face of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel is Adriana Lima.
The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Such a beautiful creation from Marc Jacobs, definitely very sexy and seductive. For some reason in my opinion it suits more brunettes than blondes. Sweeter than I thought though, there is also this suede vibe, smells very expensive, so far I love it, and this stunning bottle! I can't smell any pickles at all, not sure why people pick up this note?Strange... It stays on clothes and in your hair for days! Also, I don't agree that this is only a winter perfume
Magnapinna
A genuine tour de force deserving of its cult following.
It starts with a jammy plum that turns momentarily, like many have noted, into a bafflingly photorrealistic pickle. I picture burger king pickles specifically for some reason I could not explain. Like the cheapest tiny burger that just has cheese and pickles? It's iterally like I have it front of me... Bizarre.
This does not last very much, afterwards the gist of it is "marshmallow dust", if you put your nose inside a bag of marshmallows that's what I mean, a powdery, overtly sweet scent that make your throat close a little.
There are also these "lunch paper bag" nuances wavering through. I guess that's papyrus?
This is not great in very hot weather. It will have people, and yourself, gasping for air.
It is perplexing, captivating, obligates you to ruminate it and try to make sense of it. so to speak.
I however don't really agree with the perception that it is specially elegant, sultry, or mysterious.
It's nice, it's special, but i wouldn't really call it forbidden luxury or whatever other pseudo dark, nouveau vampiric descriptors people have come up with.
I would not call it a masterpiece either but I would definitely call it Artful. Theres art in the craftsmanship, chemistry, and the sheer rollercoaster-ness of the arrangement.
I guess decadence can be interpreted both as in "a decadent meal" and "decay, a downfall of morals and statutes". It's an apt name, it's applicable to both.
I can't help but love stuff that leaves a mark even if I don't really care that much about the mark's shape, if you get what I mean.
Stoicchild
I wanna die smelling like Decadence 🤎
There's nothing like Decadence. There will never be.
It's the whole universe in a glass purse. It smells intoxicating, mysterious, sexy and alluring.
Eternal.
Not everyone can pull this off. I cannot imagine just anyone wearing this. One must have a strong personality to pull this off, and it has to be on a serious occasion. It's a very serious scent.
I can go on and on about Decadence, no word would be good enough to describe its uniqueness.

If you’re looking for a dupe of this, Fragrance world Dolores or Dorothy smell exactly just like decadence
nmmfraggers
Looking for a dupe! This was my absolute favorite scent so sad it's discontinued. Please let me know of any
mynosemynose
Thuddingly hideous but also irresistible??? It’s confusing… For me the plum carries this charismatic sickliness, and the papyrus pushes it into a WEIRD place. It makes me think of chocolate somehow. It’s strangely medicinal. I think in another life a Victorian quack doctor tried to feed me a spoonful of brown liquid that smelled like this (for preoccupation with the fairer sex, melancholia of the womb, etc) but it only exacerbated the issue.

I got this fragrance back in 2015 when it was released. I distinctly remember seeing the ad for it on tv, and was immediately captivated. I begged my mom to buy it for me and after a while she reluctantly gave in. I was so happy and wore it every single day. Looking back at it now, how funny is it that 12 year old me wore this to school everyday. What an interesting scent for a little girl. Nonetheless it reminded me so strongly of dill, and I love dill. I recently found the bottle again, and it still has a little bit of the perfume left. I just sprayed it right now, and it’s exactly as I remember.
Madyana
Oh no, I don't know how to say this, how to tell about my relationship, or its ending with this fragrance..I have loved Decadense so passionately and determinedly.. until I came across with Afnan's Turathi Brown. Yes, it's a men's scent and just a Tuxedo copy, but...to me it's Decadence, but better. More delicious, more fruity, more woody and earthy..and when I compare these side by side, I clearly distinguish that vintage-style soap from Decadence, which has become overwhelming for me. I am so sorry for my mysterious green bottle, I fell in love with another one.
albusolor
I didnt have any problem to get it online even tho its apparently discontinued, got it along with gucci guilty abolut pour femme which has same dark feminine scent. Both discontinued. Both frags give sister from another mister vibe. Gucci guilty is a blackberry bush in enchanted forest vibe and decadence deep plum secret garden vibe. Both deep dark and unique
LocalDemiDemon
I found myself liking this fragrance back in 2017 but never went out of my way to go purchase it beyond trying a sample. I was crushed to learn that this fragrance was discontinued as it was one of the most memorable scents that I couldn't get out of my head to this day.
I did find a bottle as of recent and it's honestly a scent that can't be replaced so easily. It's a beautiful and captivating scent that I love to smell. The sweetness of the plum mixed with the florals just makes it one of a kind. As a masculine wearer, I would say this fragrance is pretty good as a unisex fragrance (Though it does lean feminine) and I'd recommend it to any bold enough guy who wants to smell like absolute divinity.
Aeternitas
When I first tried this, I immediately went to buy a bottle back in 2019 or so.
I did not expect this kind of fragrance coming from Marc Jacobs after all the generic and safe florals he has put out. Just the thought of Daisy has me yawning.
Decadence, however… what a sweet, dark guilty pleasure of a gem.
The cap of this bottle is just hideous to me (I threw it away), but the deep green glass is perfectly suitable for the scent it contains.
Mysterious emerald poison, with a paradoxical fruity sweetness.
The plum note is immediate and prevalent throughout the entire experience, and then the base notes settle into a black cat purring in your lap.
I personally have a hard time picking out the floral notes in this fragrance, but I know they are there, adding to the elegance of this perfume.
Despite my love for this fragrance, it’s not my favorite. It’s just so strikingly unexpected! I’d shake hands with Marc Jacobs for this risqué offering.
It lasts a while, and I find the projection is average. It’s enough to win you compliments.
Oh, and I’m shocked to find people get a pickle/cucumber smell from this. Very odd! I do not detect that one bit.
NeeNee50
This was my GO TO fragrance a few years ago. This was one of the few perfumes where I finished a bottle and purchased it again. I used to get so many compliments on this scent and I wore it year round night or day. I was so disappointed when it was discontinued but thankfully I still have a rollerball and a little left in a bottle. I found I could be very generous with the sprays without it being overpowering. To me this was definitely a sexy spicy scent.
QueOndaGuera
One of my all time favorites. I still have my rollerball and wish I had gotten the full bottle before it was discontinued. It’s an absolutely beautiful, powerful, earthy but sweet fragrance. It was my powerhouse winter fragrance back in like 2016. The plum and saffron notes are amazing. I can put the roller on my neck and wrists and it lasts for most of the day. Fortunately Wild Vanilla Orchid by Floral Street is a good dupe, it misses a bit of the strength and the earthier elements but it is close enough to make me happy.
Fred666
I stumbled into a new 1.7 ounce bottle of this, box included, and bought it because of all the hype. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. Would be happy to let it go for what I paid for it $90 plus shipping. Would rather it go to someone who is obsessed and hoards bottles the way i hoard bottles of Clarins formual of Angel Muse. DM if interested!
bonvivantblonde
Oh dear Decadence, I miss you a lot.. I don't get the pickles some of you are talking about. For me this was my go-to fragnance when I wanted to feel and pump up my storng independent woman energy.
This perfume offers a captivating blend of earthy, and floral notes, complemented by a soft plum and saffron undertone. If you ever have the chance of buying it somewhere, I highly recommend experiencing this enchanting fragrance for yourself.
allsaidandone
I never really noticed the pickle smell until tonight - it's not consistent, but I catch whiffs of it. Kinda amusing, don't really mind it since I don't really pick that up the most but I can see why it would be offputting, lol. Anyways, why did I notice it? I sprayed myself to compare with a concoction I tried at Sephora, where I made a nice discovery!
Looking for a dupe? Try this: Layer Wild Vanilla Orchid with Terre d'Hermes, or any other perfume you can find with vetiver base notes. WVO alone does smell pretty similar to Decadence, but it's quite feminine smelling and is missing some of those more masculine notes. Add the TDH, and you get something pretty close. Slightly more woodiness. No papyrus so no pickles so maybe some of you might like the combo better than the real thing. But overall, not bad at all - I felt it was closer than just WVO alone. TDH was the only vetiver scent with a tester at my Sephora, so that's just what I used for this experiment but I'm sure you could try other vetiver fragrances (or stuff with the other base notes).
Also, they are overall different, however, if you like this you might like Zuma 1975 by Thin Wild Mercury.
Joss007
The much-maligned pickle smell is due to the payprus note.
L.rist
I still cry when I remember this absolute fucking gem was discontinued. That's all. Just passed by to say it, again.
bittersweetpoison
Oh my, this is a gem, especially coming from MJ. It has personality and depth, and a bit of magic. I usually stay away from perfumes with rose notes, but every once in a while I stumble on some juices that are blended nicely and not overpowered by it - this is one of them! It’s woodsy floral with some amber for thickness and the plum works fabulously with the rose - it reminds me of Givenchy Very Irresistible Intense which I love and was also discontinued, so I’m happy I have this one now! For those in UK, you can get it online at the moment- I think there was a limited re-release.
Whoever related this perfume to wooden fairies at night was right on the money - it has magic in it! Would wear it for a dinner date, dressed in silk…

PICKLES!!! PICKLES...WHY OH WHY? anyone want this? UK only?
assoula17
One of my all time favorites 😍😍 I went through two bottles and now I have about a third of a bottle left along with the one eight k edition which is similar enough but still not the same as this beauty. Just found out that they’ve been discontinued!! Why would they discontinue this beautiful gorgeous masterpiece?? 😮🤯
Sofia87
Hard to find cause it’s discontinued, so grab it if you find a deal. This will forever hold a special place in my heart. They name of the perfume fits perfectly with the content. I had a hard time getting used to the bottle, but today I can appreciate it. Decadence is such a dark, sultry, mysterious unique scent. It’s complex and brings the confident women out of me. It stands out, I would even call it provocative in a superluxurious way. It’s woodsy sweet in a surprisingly green creamy spicy way. The rich plum is decadent and mixes beautifully with the saffron and florals. Blended to perfection!
The perfect signature scent for sure. If you want to be remembered from the first date, wear this. If you want want to feel empowered and confident, buy this! Alluring, luxurious, sexy, edgy…PERFECTION!
sashazor
This is a stunning fragrance. I don't get the "pickle" some people mention, I get a dense, rich, spiced plum. On my skin it feels beautifully complex and mature. It's definetly worth carrying as a signature scent, a complete shame it was discontinued.
It's not exactly a safe blind purchase, as it's certainly very unique and the plum may be a little intense for some.
I personally really liked it.
Longevity is fine, about 3-5 hours on me. Sillage is okay, if not a little weak on me.
Get this if you can, such a shame I can't find it anymore. :(
ScentSage
I’m not sure what it is about this particular fragrance, but it smells completely different on my skin. In the bottle it gives a very earthy, green, floral vibe. On my skin, it smells like dill pickles. Like actual pickles!
Sally_pita^^
Marc Jacobs "Decadence" is not a typical brand perfume, it smells more niche.... very luxurious and "old money" vibe.
She is so BOSSY, elegant, charming, mysterious, dominant and soo sooo much seductive...WOW!!!
It's woody, earthy, creamy and sweet spicy. It's so unique, I love it.
Leather&pearls
This smells like a sexy villain! A green vanilla with something a bit off but you can’t quite put your finger on it, that’s its charm. It keeps you wanting to go back and smell more. This gives off a cold vibe, which makes it bedazzle in the summer. Curses to Marc Jacobs for discontinuing this masterpiece!
Flexwithviv
I still have my bottle from when it first came out. I’ve been savouring it as I used to really really love the perfume. However, now I kind of feel like i’ve outgrown it, I still find it’s still nice. I mostly wear it when I know I’m going to the club or to a bar for some reason I feel like it suits that atmosphere. It doesn’t project as much as I imagined, but I don’t know if it’s because my bottle is much older now. I think it’s an acquired scent and reminds me of black tulip by Shay & Blue London and Chierosa 40. I do think it’s a cold weather scent for sure.
I would like to buy the eau toilette version and see if that is something I would like to introduce to my collection as a softer every day where.
Emmibonchow
Literally smells like a plums and pickles. Heavenly. 😏
RottigrlNYC
Wow this is so beautiful and unique. I have a very large fragrance collection and none are similar to this one. I have a back up 100ml bottle, full presentation, new in box with all purse pieces included, for sale. Message me if you’re interested and for pics of bottle and box >^..^
ambervxyjul
Floral street wild vanilla orchid is the current most alike dupe. You can find it at Sephora!
N D
Different doesn’t like or similar any fragrance, unique, You either love it or hate it nothing between
JoLeenS80
The initial spray did not impress me, however the dry down on my skin was amazing! I don't really have words to describe it except to say it came across very sexy in a sophisticated way. Why was this discontinued? Why?!?
LeaSmig
It's beautiful, seductive, sexy, dark and unique. Absolute must have for a strong successful woman. Get your hands on it bc it's discontinued!!!
The13thHour
I wish they would bring this perfume back. If I had known it would had been discontinued, I would had brought a backup bottle. If there is a dupe for this, it's not easy to find. This was my go-to winter and spring fragrance for a long time.
Kuty22
Blind buy 🙈 success 😍
It's not a love, maybe because it's too damn hot to appreciate it right now, but so far I like it very much.
I've been 👀 this fragance ever since I saw Jackie's video, it's been more than 5 years I think 🤔
Anyway I bought it 😆
PeachPuffs
So i've been searching for this again since it was discontinued and I ran out of the sample at the worst time. I feel like a rich sensual woman who's smokes ciggarettes and drinks rich red wine. Like i'm wearing a black dress and have jewels and pretty hair and a nice car. Please if anyone finds a place to purchase this IN CANADA let me know. Allbeauty sells it but does not ship to Canada, devastating. Got scammed on ebay too so be careful yall
KatelynMLovesPerfume
I did a perfume party foul and bought a sample for this months ago not knowing it was discontinued. I am holding onto my 3 sprays of it I have left lmao, pathetic. Marc Jacobs please. Bring this back. It's so unique and in the best way, to the point it's hard describing it. But the scent profile that's sticking in my mind is a plum bubblegum with ever so slight herb-woodsy smell. Its SOOO good! This would be one of my favorites in my collection but I have to make it fade into a memory lol..
Pwaladdi
Tbh, this was a blind buy for me. I’m absolutely glad I did. 2weeks later I went back and bought another one because I was scared when the one I have finishes, I might not get it immediately. So safe to say I have 200ml and I’m contented.
Tammyrobins7
Bring it back please! Just fallen in love with this one. It's so unusual and a bit of everything, sweet but mature and gives me vibes of fairies in a forest (I'm pretty sure I read someone else mention that on a review, maybe one below). However I heard about the fairies in a forest thing it's just something I can't get out of my head.
I picture a dark green forest beginning to turn into night, everything is still sparkling and happy but there's a bitter-sweet feeling of something darker lurking around that may come out at night!! So yes I get a gothic dark haunting fairytale feeling but also an innocent vibe from the fairies in the woods🧚🌌 who knows where this tale will end? 😉 love it all the same. If you are looking for something different and mysterious look no further for adventure in a bottle.
chosesvert
first impression: While I kind of like a cigarette smell tbh, there's this dirty ash tray scent running right through the center that I can taste on the middle of my tongue and is particularly offensive in an otherwise sweet perfume. It doesn't want to land anywhere and ends up muddy. Not for me.
Saj_Shae
This is sexy, luxurious fairycore in a bottle. My juice is now a rich amber colour and it smells even better than it did before. I cannot stress this enough, the Marc Jacobs' brand is not seeing heaven for discontinuing this! I'm very picky about plum fragrances and this is one of the best I've ever come across.
ava96
This was a blind buy from me and I'm not sure how I feel. I'll wait until winter to try it in cold weather before I decide whether we'll part ways. In summer it was almost insufferable, but it is interesting so I'd like to test it some more in autumn/winter.
MadameMerola
I can understand why this perfume has mixed reviews because it is not the regular, safe scent you expect from Marc Jacobs. This perfume is in your face and if it works well with your body chemistry, like it does for me, people will smell you before they see you. Very fruity, floral, sweet and heady scent. Definitely for the bold, classy woman who loves attention. I live in a hot climate and I wear this without any issues. Longevity is great but I always layer my perfumes with perfume oils so that might be why. If you are having issues with your perfumes disappearing too quickly on you, try layering it with a perfume oil that is similar notes and you will get better projection and staying power.
I would love to try the other flanks of this scent before it is totally unavailable again.
emilyjxne
The bottle is not my fave but on seeing Decadence return to Allbeauty exclusively, I had to get a sample as it intrigued me & I was disappointed it was discontinued before I could try it.
It’s a shame it’s not more widely available as it’s so unique to the designer world which is now saturated with boring white florals.
It’s a dark, fruity, iris. Lovely for night time & winter. Solid performance too.
child0fthecorn
Finally got my hands on this perfume. Admittedly I blind bought this scent to expand my collection into the dark 'sophisticated' avenue I am wanting as I age.
Decadence is not what I expected, maybe it was the hype... but it is far more sweet than I was anticipating. I was hoping the plum would be the deep rich velvety note as I had read about instead I find the plum to be entirely overpowering, synthetic and sharp. It completely masks any other notes described. I understand how some translate this scent into a powerhouse 'boss bitch' vibe, but it just doesn't do it for me personally. I would only wear this scent in cooler weather/evenings as I see it to be something that would be incredibly overpowering in warm weather.
NatyNaty
This is one of my favorite perfumes, I fell in love since the first time I tried it and my husband surprised me with this beautiful bottle. I can smell the plum, the iris and vetiver, It's such a gorgeous scent. I feel very empowered when wearing this beauty. It's a shame it was discontinued.
Aristocatty
Opulent, rich and sensuous! This perfume certainly lives up to its name. I have enjoyed wearing it since its launch in 2015.
Sweet, woody, vanillic and with excellent longevity.
Prepare to be complimented!
Chicago Tony T
Weird that the top notes last throughout the duration of the scent. First of all you have to love plum as this is the most potent note. It's balanced with floral notes with a light earthy vibe. It's niche from a designer brand. Very bold night fragrance that has great lasting power. It can still be found at decent prices ATM a 100ml tester is on Ebay for $89.99.
bajablast
If it's any consolation to those still pining for this scent -- I couldn't wait to get rid of it. This was sour yet sweet, too plummy, too much of everything at once. It was cold in a way I didn't enjoy. The cold facet makes sense for a fresh, summer perfume, but not for something this heavy and deep. Definitely interesting, but because of the aforementioned reasons, certainly not for me.
hnfred
My life is saved, my crops are watered, my skin has cleared, the stars have all aligned. I found a 50ml and managed to snag it for an actual reasonable price 😭. To everyone else here I am wishing you the best of luck, don’t let your dreams be dreams.
ekrapf
I got a small sample of this to try. It smells very sweet, like cotton candy, slight marshmallow, with just the tiiiiiniest bit of woodiness (barely there), and maybe some melted sugar? I don’t love it but also don’t hate it, it’s just not for me so I won’t be buying a full bottle.
nmmfraggers
I had this perfume a few years back and have since kept the bottle! Such a dark femme and sensual scent. It's mysterious, sexy, powerful and sweet. At first it smells like it could be musky but it comes off more rich! It's such a gorgeous scent, reminds me of luxury and I want to make this my signature scent forever.
Tony Shades
Unwearable obnoxious mix of notes and accords. It's obvious that it had very little success due to its polarizing scent and that's the reason it was eventually discontinued.
But still, one must appreciate the artistry of the perfumer and guts of the designer to put something like that on the market.
Shanipoo
Selling my 1oz bottle, PM me
lmnsvgz
If you are looking for a dupe that smells similar try Reserved (fashion brand) Black Shade (square bottle with ball cap). Identical notes.
lmnsvgz
A jammy plum that isn't too sweet or overwhelming. I am surprised that people describe this as a party fragrance - I don't find it that heavy. It is feminine, a bit dark. The drydown is even soft - very smooth for which I blame the orris and vetiver. Good fragrance especially considering it's from Marc Jacobs. Their perfumes lack character usually
candi_n_spice
Just found two samples of this in a forgotten drawer, and spritzed some on my arms this morning. I should've looked up the notes first, because from the name Decadence, I had something more along the lines of Black Opium in mind, like an intense dark gourmand, maybe coffee or chocolate, but on the opening I mostly got a lot of iris and jasmine. It was mostly floral at first, which took me by surprise. However, on the dry down, I do get something more decadent, though nothing like BO.
I'm now getting more rose and plum, which I love, a little green which I love less, spicy saffron, amber, vetiver, and a bit of a woody note. It's unique and quite nice! Definitely a touch powdery, but it's a great blend once it settles. I would say it's a strong like for me, hopefully that won't progress to the point that I feel the need to pay stupid discontinued prices. It's not quite my usual style, but I'll definitely enjoy my samples! I agree with those who can't understand why this was discontinued over the bland Daisy.
Edit: I wrote this over an hour ago, after wearing for about half an hour. Decided I liked it, and applied 4 more sprays all over, including a second on the arms. It isn't super potent, but I thought that'd give me a pretty noticeable bubble for the day. I'm disappointed to report that it has already become pretty subtle. It's still there, but not nearly as loud as it should be from 5 sprays 1-2 hours ago. The scent is now very pleasant, but faint, I have to put my nose to my skin to get more than the iris, which is still pretty prominent. Though I do quite like the spicy rose I'm getting when I do, I'm just not a skin scent gal. Definitely wouldn't pay a high price for this now, lasting power is poor. I'll try to update again when I see how long it lasts at this subtle stage.
JulieB123
So sad to hear this one has been discontinued - it's been my go-to "date night" perfume for a while now and I will definitely miss it once my current bottle runs out.
I'm not sure what I can add that others haven't already said - you either love it or hate it and for me it's obviously love. It's sophisticated but slightly playful, overpowering yet comforting, syrupy and spicy.
Sweet&Fruity
I have just seen that they’ve discontinued this, and now it’s ramped the prices up to silly levels!
I’ve had quite a few MJ fragrances in my time, and this has been my favourite. Not sure why they’ve discontinued this when the boring, bland Daisy is still doing the rounds!
So this is predominantly fruity. It has a definite, cough-syrup-medicinal sort of vibe, but not in an off-putting way. It’s quite a sultry fruity-floral. It has a very unique aldehyde sort of note, it’s actually a very hard perfume to describe. The write up claims it to be ‘woody’ and I have never had that from this, myself. Plum tinged with aniseed and sweetness is what I seem to get. There’s floral in there too, but it’s sultry, like night-blooming jasmine. I can see why this would be a love/hate fragrance - it won’t be for everyone that’s for sure. For me, though, it’s sultry and feminine.
Longevity and sillage were both decent. Longevity wasn’t the best from any fragrance I have ever used, but I’ve found this with all MJ fragrances I’ve tried.
It’s almost like a powdery-fruity, it’s a very unique scent - such a pity they’ve discontinued this, as I really liked it.
LiliiiS
I bought a bottle of it back then in 2016 mainly because I loved it's bottle and decided to revisit it today because there is still 30 mil left inside it. reading other reviews shows that most people either hate it or love it. well not me. it's just a simple "like" for me. I remember back then, I found it very woody but not now. the opening is all about a very sweet, spicy, juicy plum+saffron+amber. it gets drier and softer as it dries down and I can detect some jasmine and vanilla. not much vetiver or woody notes but I can definitely feel something earthy and a bit green and smokey in it. I can also understand what people mean by saying it smells like pickle, hello orris root. but I don't dislike this pickley thing in here because it's just a touch of it and it adds a salty, even boozy undertone to it's sweetness which makes it more interesting.
all in all it is a unique perfume IMHO.it's warm but also has something minty and cold in it. it's sweet and spicy but also has something salty in it. it has a girly sweet fruityness but also has a green, unisex vibe. it seems simple but is more complex than what you first think it is
it's not my usual type and I don't love it but I don't mind wearing it specially as an autumn fragrance.

Male 27yo. One of my customers at work was wearing this and I like it a lot. It was sweet, and had a note that kind of reminded me of flower bomb.

Ordinarily I try not to sample discontinued fragrances to avoid unnecessary heartbreak, but I made an exception for this one because I wanted to compare to Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid, which I like a lot.
Lots of similarities between the two, but Decadence celebrates a sophisticated mix of saffron and plum and does not include vanilla. It can be hard for me to identify saffron in the mix of a fragrance, but here it is very prominent and adds a mysterious veil of soft spice.
I can see why this is so beloved - it is elegant and intriguing. This is a wonderful option for a signature fragrance for a confident woman. As for me, I'll appreciate it's beauty and save my love for something still produced.

If you live in the Uk they have bought this scent back for a limited time only on fragrencedirect
checked the expiry date and legit new batch

Pssst... hey guys. Just FYI, they have all 3 decadences for sale on rebl scents. Run, don't walk!

I am looking to buy a bottle or trade with another perfume! PM me :)
carleebrimhall
I swear this smell disappears the minute I put it on. Inoffensive and clean smelling, I can mostly just smell the sweet plum. Almost the same staying power as a body spray from B&BW.
Monidm
I absolutely hated it! I don’t know which note that was, but I felt like I was going to puke! I don’t know who would like this I feel like it’s something you would wear just to be different but you also know it doesn’t smell good.
Flared Maple
I would definitely not describe this as a woody fragrance. On me this is super sweet, almost like candy. It’s not bad, just not my preference.
The plum and rose take center stage in the heart of this fragrance. The dry down is very soft, thats where a slight woodyness comes in.
crissy25
This is one of my all time favorite fragrances! It's mysterious, elegant, and hard to describe. I can not imagine why it was discontinued. This fragrance has excellent longevity and projection. This is one I'm careful not to overspray or I'll choke everyone around me. This fragrance shines in cool and cold weather. But I wear it year round except during super hot weather. This is such a unique designer fragrance. It's deep, rich, and sexy! I'll be devastated once I run out!
Longevity: 9/10
Projection: 9/10
Overall Experience: 9.5/10

I have 2 drops of this left in my sampler vial and I am holding onto them with my life. I love this scent so much and the fact that I can’t have it hurts 😭 Finding this perfume in Canada is ridiculous, it’s already inflated enough before paying $30 for shipping. I love pickles but unfortunately I don’t get the pickle scent. I miss her 💔
raqketa
i think i like this a lot. not a love, but undeniably a like. i definitely get sweet plum and sweet jasmine, but that sweetness is well balanced by the other notes. i normally can pick out orris in fragrances (bc it tends to smell really dusty/earthy and often it tickles my nose in the way that black pepper does), but i (thankfully) can’t detect it here. overall this is sweet, sexy, deep - and i think quite aptly named. ☺️
edit, 2 hours in: i like the drydown, just not as much as the opening. i also like the drydown when i bury my nose in it much more than i like the wafts that result from moving my wrists and arms as i go about my day.
Aditya chatterjee
I just loved it, for me its smells like fruity aromatic incensed typed of fragrance which last upto 7 hrs.
Its best for Christmas scent , and if you tried to gift it to your loved one then this can be considered as gift option.
Its seems little unisex fragrance for me because its not too feminine smell because of dark vetiver notes.🍃❄️
realitygreene
This scent is fantastic! I'm not even sure I can describe how it smells, but I love how it smells. Kind of dark and mysterious, sensual and classy. I will need to test out my sample more before adding it to my want list, but I seriously think I want this!
edit 12/28/22: This is my second time wearing this fragrance and I am in LOVE. The iris is really prominent, but it's not coming across as lipstick-y which I enjoy the change of pace. Lipsticky scents are some of my favorite, but it's nice to appreciate a different side of iris. I think I am getting a lot of the vetiver and amber as well and it's just so lovely! This is truly a phenomenal scent, probably the most original and noteworthy scent Marc Jacobs has come out with (that I have tried lol). I absolutely want a bottle of this.
edit: 5/1/23: This is my third time wearing my sample and this time around I smell chocolate!! It's actually really nice, but I don't love that each time I wore this I got a different scent. Makes me think that if I owned this I would never reach for it because I would crave a certain iteration and be disappointed if I didn't get that and therefore would probably skip over this scent. That being said, if I ever found a big bottle for under $30...I might just take the chance on it!
ambervxyjul
This was my very first designer perfume. At that time coming from bath and body works body mists, it was definitely a step up. It’s a deep, rich scent that lingers forever. I remember getting many compliments. It smells like pickles but in the best way.
equanimiss
Very sweet on my skin. Not my style. I have a sprayer sample available for the price of shipping if anyone is interested.
Shanipoo
I've tried countless perfumes, but this is hands down my absolute favorite! I will agree, it is far from a safe blind buy and will knock you out of your socks. This is one that if you've the right chemistry, can create actual magic! A woody iris with a little bit of fruitiness (the plum just makes it juicy). The saffron gives it spice to almost an oriental feel. I wish they'd never discontinued this and would gladly be buried in this scent. It isnt as sweet smelling as most MJs, but I wore it in my 20s just fine. The wood depth on the dry down is an unforgettable experience.
Helena Voltaire
I absolutely adore this one and have gone through hell to get it, but I finally have my 50ml of it. I sprayed it in store and knew I loved it, but only had a decanter of it. I find it so interesting that this could smell totally different on other people than it does on my skin. I put this on one of my best friends and on her skin this smelled like straight up dill. But not fresh dill, the one that you find in pickle juice. Horrendous.
I am so glad this one reacts completely different with my skin. I get the plum and a lavender note, a bit on the heavier side, but I do not mind it one bit. Very good longevity. It deserves its name, a truly decadent fragrance, but also very tricky. Try it beforehand, don’t blind buy as you might end up disappointed when finding out this one smells like pickled dill on you. :)
Kcbear28
I generally love strong perfumes but I gave this one away cos OMG isn’t it a beast? I like the notes enough on paper, very sexy, but hell they choked me on skin. What a shame it doesn’t work for me. Not safe to blind buy.
Mags322
I love this fragrance and was gutted when they discontinued it. But after a few months I was able to get it from All Beauty. I dont know if it’s back or if it was stock they had left over but I’m happy I have a full bottle for now which I will be able to make last if I use it sparingly.
Prance!
This is one of my favourite perfumes. It is unbelievably sexy with that iris and plum. It is classy and sophisticated like the description says. You can wear this in the day time! Honestly, you don't have to dress like some high fashion runway model but you do have to dress more on the elegant side. Think at the very least, heels/boots with jeans and a shirt, or even better; a dress. All black anything works with this amazingly.
This perfume is perfect for a woman who loves to dress elegant and feminine. Adriana Lima was the main campaign face for this bottle so take that as you will but do not compare yourself to her! You are your own model. Anyone between young adult and a more mature adult can pull this off, it all depends on how you dress and your attitude.
pocketfullofposies
I can definitely smell the amber. It has a warm-ness to it and during the dry down I get woodier scents. Not what I was expecting, I thought it would be more spicy and harsher but it’s actually really nice. Great perfume to wear at night, especially during autumn and winter.
J'dada
The only Marc Jacobs scent I like. Smells like an enchanted forest. Fairies and all!
Twilightrose
Wow, after reading so many good reviews I was expecting to love this scent. I realized I had a sample I hadn't tested yet so I dug it out to try it, and this is not good on me. Not at all. Immediately I'm thinking of a scratch and sniff pickle sticker from grade school 1981. Mixed with a fake rose scent, or skunk urine, maybe I just don't like Bulgarian rose. I asked my fiance what he thought, and he said it smells like urinal cakes or a vinegary ladies feminine hygiene product. I'm jealous of all the people saying this smells amazing because I'm getting one of the worst things I've ever smelled.
sexonlegs
Not often I smell a perfume and immediately like it, sadly this is also the first time a perfume has mixed horribly with my skin, otherwise I would have bought this 100%
Dorange Sense
What the f, I found my favorite scent a blink of an eye before, finally something non-complicated non-niche and thought I could repurchase till I'm old (same as ladies used to wear Dior not DIOR Poison for decades) and now I found out it's discontinued?? Seriously I've spent so much time and money on the hobby perfume just to find myself sad that all my treasures are or will be discontinued… along with Muglers Aura. Not fun anymore. Meanwhile the horrid Coco Mademoiselle is still around and all the terrible Chance bottles.
candyxoxo589
Smells of pachouli. Not my personal taste, but it's pretty popular. I can definitely see this smelling good on others, but not me.
Slickchick81
On intial blast I get the pickle juice smell, but it disappates very quickly. Next I get a very spicy sexy plum, although no vanilla listed there is a hint of it in there, after the full dry down I smell that vetiver and get the dryness of the papyrus. It almost, hear me out B.O smelling but not bad B.O that kind of sexy body odour, that primal smell of light sweat, almost pheromone in nature, if you know what I mean. This is what makes it attractive and very sexy and unisex despite the bottle, I think a guy could definitely pull this fragrance off. It is a win for me shame they discontinued it, feel lucky to have obtained a 100ml bottle, it is the only Marc Jacob's I have found really interesting.
bajablast
I tried so hard to like this, but i couldn't. I ended up giving it to my grandma. I pick up on the pickle thing, and I don't like how cold the scent is. It's too much...
RetroPickle
This, along with Mugler's Aura, is one of the most unique and enticing perfumes I've ever smelled. Makes me angry so many boring, generic, basic perfumes stay on the market and gems like these are discontinued. I LOVE it! The sexy dill/woodsy/plum scent along with the stunning bottle is just a treasure. I'm glad I have a 1 oz at least I got for a decent price. MJ I'll never forgive you for taking this away!!
debush
Love it! Long lasting scent on my skin.
coffeefifofum
I'm not an oud fan and this smells like a sharp, woody, medicinal oud to me. Top notes are fine, but they're gone in a few minutes and then it's just oud.
shimatsukki
smells like licorice and patchouli at first sniff. then it begins to smell like chapstick and iris. not a huge fan, since it smells like a grandma's musky floral gourmand.
scentyoupacking
On me, I get a big hit of powdery violet from this (which personally I rather like). Agree with a previous review that said this had a makeup-like smell.
Frangipanilove
Hm, not getting the interesting notes that are supposed to be here from my sample. Instead its like a cucumber type fragrance layered with a heavy gourmand, like apple bottle Lolita Lempicka. Odd but not unpleasant juxtaposition. The gourmand base is kind of generic and passe at this point in time and overdominates the blend. Will test in colder weather to see what happens.
zabekzuzia
bleh… that’s all, it’s headache inducing and not enjoyable in my opinion
lorna.1
This is a unique fragrance, and I am so surprised it was discontinued. This is so identifiable with the plum and Iris, it cuts through cold weather like a knife, and in the busy clubs and bars, you will be the only person anyone can smell for a metre at least. It is intoxicating, and the compliments come from both women and men. It's a dramatic perfume so wear it with confidence. I think men can wear this too, and it's a grower. You will find yourself just reaching for the bottle to smell it even when it's too warm to wear it.
I have two bottles and am happy to sell or swap my small bottle to someone for who this is a beloved fragrance. I was devastated when my favourite went (TF noir pour femme). DM or @lornaproject Insta
Betsywoolbright
I used to love it but now I can identify iso e super/fake oud and that's almost the only thing I can smell in it now.
lupereira
Intriguing. Reminds me make up smell.
Miss Dolittle
Recently purchased. Tbh I'm a little disappointed. I'm hoping it will wear better in the colder months
fragrance_girl
This fragrance really shines when you're outdoors during cold, fall/winter night. I was on a fence initially, but it took me only one night out with this fragrance to really appreciate it and now I love it.
I am happy to own a full bottle.
SouthSim
Wild vanilla orchid is similar. But in a younger sister with less layers and depth. Decadence is perfectly named. It feels rich, warm, indulgent. It has a sexy element to it. It's such an intoxicating smell. It opens with the plum. Smells very much like an overripe plum. Something powdery and silky is in the dry down. Such a scent! I can't believe they had the audacity to discontinue it 😕
Catmo
I found an old sample of this recently and was super excited to try it. It’s a nope from me. Somebody mentioned pickles and that’s pretty much what I get also. Very odd.
ShadowCliff
Very weird. I should've done a wear on my wrist. I spritzed in store and thought it smelled quite nice on paper. I was looking for something more 'mature' (because you can't wear fruity past 30, you see... ...I was wrong.) Anyway: kind of a nice cucumber opener. But the drydown turns more pickle-ish and maybe...musky? A certain dry musk that doesn't do anything for me. I have a nearly untouced bottle on my dresser if anyone would like it for a swap. I quite like Marc Jacobs perfumes, but this one isn't it.
Juliennne
Decadence is back in stock in the UK, yay! I can’t wait to grab a 100ml bottle.🤩🎉
AllyMage
I git this for 20$ at Marshall's and at first I was iffy so I set it aside. But I got really into perfume and as my nose matured I fell head over heals with this. So deep and sweet with a vanilla dry down. Very sad to see this discontinued.
emilyhornephotography
Pickle snow cones at a BBQ in the 80's.
Jloveparfum
Decadence opens with a strong powdery sweet smell. Plum and iris stand out in the opening to give way to a somewhat earthy, woody and powdery floral heart. The background becomes somewhat smoky and woody with an amber accord. In general it is warm and elegantly vanilla.
The substantivity on my skin reaches 10 hours with moderate diffusion.
Decadence is another ambivalent fragrance, many people find this smell bewitching. Without a doubt a unique perfume
Nashira.torres
Finally got my hands on this! Blind bought this after months of watching reviews and “top favorite perfume” videos. Reading some reviews on here I was skeptical since it’s either a love or hate with this particular scent. I absolutely love it. It’s a sexy, woody, fruity, and sweet perfume. Lasts for hours on the skin so I imagine it will last even longer on clothes. I literally only did 2 sprays on my arm in the morning and I can still smell it in the afternoon. I’m so happy this worked for me and I can understand the hype around this.
katemax
In the UK aldi are selling a dupe of this called "luxe"
emeriepalm
This was the first fragrance I experienced as truly addictive. It feels so sexy and feminine with the perfect balance of fruity floral spicy. It is heavy so wear and spray conservatively— especially since it’s been discontinued :(
ArianaS
I tried this first is summer time and was too heavy for me. I tried again in the winter and I loved it. It’s not the typical and boring fragrance as most are lately. Very long lasting, also. Aura and this are sisters.
thecoffeeslayer
There's something almost vinegary about the orris/woods/papyrus combination here. It's sharp- cedar sharp. I understand how people would get "pickles" from this. The plum and florals would be a powerhouse, but the vinegar-like weirdness over powers it too often for me. I guess this only works on some people, and I'm not that person. A shame, the plum is nice.
Xtina19
Unfortunately I’ve never been a fan of Marc Jacobs fragrances. I think they are far too overpriced for the quality, all the Daisies and Lolas etc out there, smell the exact same, never been able to make any difference and honestly don’t care about it. Also they are very short lasting.
In my personal opinion, Marc Jacobs is all about the pretty girly presentation and the cute bottles, that’s all it is. That’s what actually customers are paying for.
Now Decadence is one of the most ratchet fragrances I came across, really makes me nauseous. Is like is trying to smell rich by all means and doesn’t succeed.
I also dislike that handbag bottle, it’s absolutely silly and tacky. I’m all about the presentation in a fragrance but this one is far too much.
I’m not even a bit sad it was discontinued, I’m sure another generic from MJ will pop up soon.
Lipsticklights
This is still on the Marc Jacobs website, but it's definitely discontinued I think?? Anyway buy Wild vanilla orchid floral street it's so beautiful and nearly identical! Won't be disappointed guys!
MuskyWood96
I was heartbroken when I found out that it’s been discontinued. ☹️ it’s screams luxury, sophistication & sexy all in one bottle. This is the only perfume that I bought 4x and I’m soo scared to finish my 100ml cos there’s noooo other perfume that can top off the elegance of decadence. I get sooo many compliments whenever I wear this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET THIS BACK IN THE MARKET! 😭
Irinka. K
My fear came true, it's been discontinued! Thank God last year I bought a 100ml bottle of it and I still have a half bottle of the 30ml. It's the only perfume that I re-bought 5 times! It's a beautiful mature, confident and sexy scent. Everyone that smells it on me loves it.
Leahhhpd
This perfume was my signature for a long time, and am so heartbroken it has been discontinued. I have never smelt anything like it before, to me it’s luxury in a bottle. Very very strong and long lasting, however definitely not a safe blind buy - you either love it or hate it.
Caroline09
Go-to scent when wearing leather jackets, it's the perfect match made in heaven. Can only wear it during colder months. Very overpowering and long lasting.
Stoicchild
#SuperSueChick You just described not only me, but the colour of the lipstick I wear, also the colour of my room decor too. They are indeed green, my wall colour is mint and there is a decade old big eucalyptus tree right infront of my window. I always keep my window open, and I always wear Decadence during rainy days when I go out with my girlfriends! This perfume projects better during monsoon. I am indeed an old soul with a modern art deco taste for my interior (=
Another fact you got right is I bought this perfume when I was 25, your intuition is on point!
SuperSueChick
Oh you Iris Orris. How powdery art thou?
Its a nice soapy, woody spice that's sweetened by the plum scent. Gives me a spicy YSL Tresor or '83 version Paris vibes. Its that darn powdery Iris that gives this a "vintage" vibes with a slight hint of mint (i know those notes aren't there). But its good. I like it in a weird a way.
Setting: 1980 something.
She's a single 20 something yr old PBX operator, and works Mon-Fri 9-5. Its Saturday, and she is getting ready for a small get-together to celebrate the weekend with her girlfriends.
Its warm and humid. There's a grand and beautiful decade old tree outside her bedroom. She has her window open for the fresh air because it has just stopped raining.
She's in her modern Art Deco bedroom which is a bit cold and dark, but sports updated black and white tile floor and emerald decore everywhere.
She has just showed with her hair up in a towel, puts on her nylon panty-hose, white satin spaghetti strap slip, aqua eyeshadow, YSL red lipstick, and shiny patent heels. She is all powdered up, going to let her hair down, and excited for her new signature perfume that just came out and is so fashion forward. Grabs some small powdery mint candies at the edge of her vanity, and throws them in her purse as she runs out the door.
"Oh honey what are you wearing"? asks a girlfriend of hers. "Darling, haven't you heard, its Decadence by Marc Jacobs" she replies.
"Marc who? Is that your new flame"? her friend asks, and they all laugh.
It'll be discontinued one day, as its a time capsule in an adorable purse. ツ
MoonGirl22
I just found out they discontinued this beautiful fragrance. I still have half of a big size bottle left and will cherish. This was love on first sniff when I smelled it on someone else. I got freshly showered scent and watermelons at that time. It’s very sweet and I can imagine people would find this offensive, even when they’ve not yet seen the tacky bottle.
Alienigena.perfumada
Este es mi perfume favorito, siempre quiero tenerlo. Lo amo, ojalá no lo hubiera. Descontinudo
morji
I absolutely love the cucumber and plum vibe I get from this one. Bought a bigger bottle and am now selling my 1 oz bottle 90% full. DM me if interested and in the US.
2whit2quit
I just tested a carded sample from FragranceNet because, while discontinued, it still gets so much hype. Unfortunately, I had to scrub this off. No warmth or spice detected. It is extremely fruity and boozy on me, but not in a good way. It reminds me of jungle juice or Curacao liquor. It literally reminds me of being drunk during the summer in my early 20s. Glad I got to try it though.
eaudeghostie
This is SPICY somehow? I get almost no fruit, just vetiver and amber and something really sharp and strong that gives me a headache. I've never liked any other fragrances from Marc Jacobs so I'm not sure why I thought I'd love this. It's okay, its long-lasting and not unpleasant (before it gives me a pounding headache) but I just think this was not made for me.
Meaganc
I love this perfume. It really is a man eater scent, like they say. I pop this on when I go on dates or when I want to feel powerful and dominating. It lasts all day with just one spritz onto the neck. All my friends know me for this smell as not many can wear it. Absolutely love her!
Ylpha_Gyal
Based on sample… smells like pickles 🤣🤣🤣🤣 why would I spray pickle water on my body it’s a 0
Rozalina
I received this as a gift back in like 2015/2016 before I gave a hoot about fragrances. My immediate impressions were that I ADORE the kitschy bottle (i love the act of moving the chain to the side before removing the cap to spray it) and this was 100% a luxurious, rich girl perfume that smelled absolutely incredible. I had never smelled anything like it before- i was wearing only fruity floral easy scents, if anything- but this struck me as different, unique, but not offensively so. When I got more into the frag world, I was shocked that Decadence was considered such a controversial scent. Pickles? Not to my nose. Maybe it doesn’t work on certain peoples skin but on me it’s simply gorgeous. Decadence is one of those perfumes where I don’t really pull individual notes as they’re blended masterfully, and the result is just an expensive-smelling juice.
zhetheru
I heard mixed reviews about this fragrance, many people said it smelled very "mature" so I was afraid to try it, but I received a sample of it, and Oh My God!!!! this smells so beautiful. At the top, I smell watermelon (?), but I'm assuming it is the plum note that I am getting. After that, the fruity note remains but I begin to get the Iris, Orris, a little jasmine, and the slightest amount of rose, which I don't mind. At the bottom, I do smell the amber with a bit of papyrus and vetiver, but the fruity note still remains and overpowers the base notes. I love this and will get a full bottle.
Also, I would wear this in the spring and fall, and maybe the summer (sprayed lightly), but it doesn't smell heavy enough to wear in the wintertime.
Carolina Avellino
Eu amooo! Hahahaha
KAYAGIRL
Smelt soooo amazing on my frend so i
brought myself a bottle & it smelt revolting just does not marry with my skin.
Going to sell my bottle soon as I find it
Any kiwis keen Message me!! Haha

I don't know if I got an old/bad sample but it smelled like root beer bottle caps candy. And that's not a good thing. I was so surprised because I've heard so many good things. I'm willing to give it another try but that was my first experience with Decadence.
yunoh
Best Marc Jacobs creation ever. This is a plum and vetiver bomb. This is so good. It's a bit odd but that's what I always look for, I like unique scents so this fits the criteria. The longevity is amazing, you will smell like this the whole day, and it does project a lot too. It's a shame it got discontinued. Currently looking for something similar. Anyways 10/10 you will be missed.
Soccergreat88
I really like this. I personally get a lot of pepper which isn't listed but it smells like a plum scent mixed with pepper. Its really nice and slightly gourmand almost because it is decadent. Not sure why this is so controversial because it seems like an enjoyable scent
pescadofish
A friend gave me a sample and loved it, then quickly found out it was discontinued. I checked Rebl Scents, Ross, Marshalls, then TJ Maxx, but it's already gone. Thankfully, I was able to buy a bottle on eBay.
After the dry down, I get an umeboshi (pickled plum) note, which I adore because I love umeboshi onigiri. The slightly sour note is mellowed out by the warmer notes which makes it very inviting.
Love the 1oz bottle I ordered and would love to find a larger bottle with the pretty tassel, especially since it will eventually be gone. It's strangely beautiful on my skin, and I will enjoy every last drop. :D
moldavitedream
violet, incense, my signature perfume garners so many compliments. such a shame it’s discontinued, i haven’t found any fragrance i love as much as this one.
Jlovelyy
Am I the only one who thinks this smells like By The Fireplace by Maison? I like the BTF but it’s too strong for me. But this ? Is a lot more wearable . It definitely smells woody, green, with a sweet/fresh Berry like incense. This isn’t something to wear during the hot/summer days . Definitely at night or when it’s cold. I sprayed it and it’s definitely strong it does smell like pickles but I’m not mad at it ha. It gets more powdery and sweet.
Not really worth it since it’s discontinued 🙁
cucumber5012
unfortunately i'm also picking up on the pickled plums. going to give it another shot at some point but not loving it rn
Ravenrage
My thoughts: one of my firsts, love it.
Anyways I wanted to say that Reserved has a dupe, "Orchid Bloom" for few €. It's pretty close. 😘
flordelsol
It's beautiful but not for me.
I am more glam, glitter, sweet, vibrant and sexy in my scents.
This one gives me 17-year-old in a boarding school trying to grow up way too fast vibes. I see tweed blazers, kitten heels with bows, and secretary energy. Nothing wrong with it, but it just isn't my style at all.
One thing I outright dislike is the note that smells like dust to me. It isn't soft or powdery or woody or papery, it just straight up smells like inhaling dust scraped off a bookshelf. Stuffy smell.
I'm going to give her another chance in a few days and spend a day with this one. I have high hopes for her and I am hoping we can start from a clean slate. Will edit my review when reintroduced ;)
alanochka
Smells like musty, dusty, pickled plums
mldaleali28
This is an odd one, I bought it impulsively as I often do despite its tacky bottle and I wore it once, in summer. I found it too sweet for my taste and gave it to my eldest daughter. She came to visit me during Christmas break and brought it with her. For some reason I retested it and all I can say, I’ve never smelled a perfume that is so different in summer vs winter, it’s like a different perfume all together. It is sweet and fruity indeed but it’s still classy. It is indeed hard to wear, you need the right attitude and mood for it. Oh, and it’s definitely a winter perfume, in case I was not clear enough 😂
vintagebombshell1214
although this perfume doesn't have any sweet notes like caramel/vanilla in my opinion it's still a very gourmand and sweet scent. it is extremely strong though and too much of it can definitely be too overpowering and mature smelling but overall its sillage is amazing and it lasts extremely long and is a perfect night out, gourmand fragrance. 8/10
Kaylovely
Discontinued, try 1899 Hemingway not as fruity but same vibe better projection as well.
Anything4talishas
My bf bought me this for my bday bc he knows I'm a sucker for a pretty bottle. He adores the scent on me. I think it's ok. It definitely smells like a rich lady lol the woods in perfumes can sometimes give me old lady vibes bc they're so deep and intoxicating, but I actually don't mind the dry down of this and I always get compliments when I wear it. I usually pair it with a bath and body works spray and lotion. I do a spray on each wrist of the decadence and one of the back of the neck, then go in with a little body spray, and it's a nice intimate scent for sure. Good for fall and winter but also good for date nights after the sun goes down in summer.
perfumelovere
The notes are so unique and interesting but sadly the scent is as unpleasant as the packaging. It leads to that philosophical question of whether what I smell is perceived by the brain in the same way as others because whomever conceived this must've thought to themselves that the combo of notes was pleasant. I couldn't detect anything desirable about this and I can totally appreciate perfumes I wouldn't wear but others might gravitate toward. Hard no.
amy33
For me, it's woods and saffron all the way. I would like it for a night out in cold weather.
Saraha123
I don't smell the pickles that everyone else does. Personally, on my skin its very fruity and sweet. I like this, its a shame its discontinued.
Tt777
Sadly I’m one of the ppl that smells pickles. I had heard of this and couldn’t imagine a perfume smelling like pickles but learned tonight that it’s possible. I wish I could smell the sexy plum fragrance others do. I will revisit this in the future in hopes my nose changes hat it picks up on. I’m hopeful as there are many scents I use to hate that I now love;)
ramoyfolkes
This is a very unique fragrance, surely taste specific so not everybody will like it.
I personally enjoy this fragrance. Fruity/green/woodsy scent with good longevity. Wear with confidence.

I tried to love this perfume but I gag literally every time I spray it. it smells like pickles to me and I don't know why I can't seem to smell it without almost throwing up. hopefully one day I can grow to love it but for now ill give it brownie points because the bottle is so cute
floszra
It's sweet and green at the same time. To be honest I smell dill with vanilla however none of them are listed. Once I fell in love with it and then I don't know what happened, but it'll bother me after 1-2 hours of wearing it. Sometimes it happens to be with certain scents. I still appreciate it as a wonderful, unique composition with great performance.
Juspaigeme
This is truly intoxicating! It’s mainly a woody/fruity/ambery/floral. It has a beautiful sweetness to it. The plum note is what stands out the most to me then in the dry down I get lots of the vetiver and amber. You will feel so confident and so sexy wearing this! I usually reach for this during the colder months or if I’m going out at night. Performance is really good. If you can find it BUY IT!
virna.medina
On me this is a very heavy iris lipsticky smell. I don't get any plum and other delicious notes mentioned in the reviews. This (and Marc Jacobs Daisy which i used to love) also have strange effect on my skin, like it's awakening my allergy. My skin tend to have the same reaction on iris/orris notes. Glad i only got a 5 ml decant of this, definitely not my kinda scent.

I tried Decadence six years ago at a Macy’s and I didn’t really enjoy it. Now I had a chance to smell it again at a CVS and my opinion of this perfume has changed, I like it now. The middle notes are the best, kinda smells a bit like BR 540 cause of the woody saffron in my opinion. Heard that it’s discontinued and seen some around TJ Maxx or Marshals, I may get one for myself.

Six years ago, walking around the perfume shop at duty free at the Dubai airport, I found myself craving for a quintessential Middle Eastern woody rose. Something that would be reminiscent of the sheer opulence I associate with Dubai. And there she was, this pretty bottle, sitting in the limelight, almost daring me to ignore her. How could I not pick her up?
It was awe at first sniff. I wouldn’t call it love. I think it was more like “I want to be the kind of woman who would wear this perfume.” Never before have I come across a perfume that is truer to its name – Decadence is indeed intensely decadent. It is one of those perfumes that you have be bold enough to wear, or else it is going to wear you, if you know what I mean.
Should you pick this perfume up, do wear it on nights. It is definitely not a day perfume. Take out that dress you’ve set aside as “too much” and pair it with those heavy earrings that you bought because you thought they were pretty but never found the occasion to wear. Wear those heels – no they’re not too high – and when you walk, walk like you own the world. Because you do. Let them know you’ve arrived.

Bought this years ago, an adorable mini, tried it and found it heavy and it got buried in my boxes of perfumes. That was in Texas or California, with no real cool weather. Here I am as deep autumn falls on northern Virginia, the weather is chilly and I pulled this out curious what it would do. Gorgeous! It’s lush and rich, with heavy plum that smells spiced and juicy, with floral notes joining in but not changing this to a floral-centered. It’s not a super sweet fruit, but stays fruity. The dry down is quite woody, almost incense-like, almost faintly patchouli. This is plum wine in front of a winter fireplace in a velvet bathrobe.

The plum mixed with saffron, orris and iris creates a really deep, slightly floral plum note. The jasmine makes it sweet, almost too sweet but it manages to straddle that line. The vetiver deepens it even further without making it too woody and there's a kind of brown sugary amber base it all rests on. I have Kilian Single Malt and this one kinda gives me plum brandy vibes that made me think of that fragrance.
This fragrance is fairly one-dimensional but that is not a problem for me. The florals fade slightly in the drydown and you get more of a candied plum, it's excellent.
I'm in love with this one, definitely more suitable for a date night during the colder seasons. I get 2 vibes from this, classy and elegant but also youthful, mysterious baddie.
Wish this was not discontinued because it's fantastic.

I was trying a sample of it, it doesn’t smell pleasant for me it, smells like alot of lemon mixed with sour herbal tea which is rare as it doesn’t has lemon at all in its notes.

Miel, yes, sadly discontinued, and going for mega prices on EBay, however, I have found a dupe which is really similar and I am surprised and glad how long it lasts, check out Deny Dance by Perfume Inspired, cheap too, hope this helps the lovers of this unique scent, I am a big fan and glad I still have a big purse bottle 🤗

So I remember really liking this one when I tested a small dab out of a sample vial. Bought the biggest size I could find bc I heard it was being discontinued, I also thought the bottle was fun.
I don’t know if I got a bad bottle or if I only like this in the tiniest amount, but I can’t stand it now. There’s so much going on in here. And the loud, tart plum + heavy leather combo is a big nope for me.
I agree with others that not everyone can pull this off, but more power to you if you can. I can’t. Very polarizing and not a safe blind buy at all. Must love plum and leather.
Snowflake8000
This is unique. But not a fragrance that works for me. Tried a sample. It’s ok. Not my style. I would describe it as strong and mature. Not in a bad way. You just need the right personality for this.
hola gigi
Opens a bit harsh for me. Kind of masculine. After 30 minutes the plum & jasmine come through beautifully! It stays on clothes but not on skin. I think it would be appropriate for grown & sexy nights.. formal evening events. Or of course, whenever you want.. but unless you spray on clothes the scent is fleeting.
Stoicchild
This is my night out perfume for weekends. It turns heads! I don't understand why women complain about the only Marc Jacobs perfume that smells highly sophisticated. This is the only Marc Jacobs perfume I own because I found it worth paying for. It lasts for 2-3 days, even after shower. It stays on clothes for weeks! The rest of the Marc Jacobs collection smells very ordinary. Only this one sticks out to me. I bought it back in 2015 when it first came out. Those who labelled this tacky doesn't know what tacky is. Beyonce is tacky, she's the worse celebrity perfumer.
Kizzyb93
Right then where do it start so my friend was this and it smells absolutely fantastic on her it’s gorgeous on her! I liked it so much on her that I decided to buy myself a bottle. Ha 🤣 and this really taught me the lesson that fragrances smell different on other people… and on me it smells like a musty old ladies wardrobe . Obviously this does not agree with my skin chemistry i’m kind of sad about it
funnynobody
This is my signature perfume. I am glad that it is not popular because I have not smelled this on anybody in years, I am the only one wearing it in my neighborhood/town. It just plays so well with my skin, It was made for me 8)) because what it does on my skin is simply amazing. Everybody adores this when I wear it and compliment it. But it is complicated perfume and I totally understand why it´s not popuplar.
As somebody wrote here. There are perfumes which need time on your skin before judging them. This is one of them. I love it from the opening btw, but once it settles it became sooo interesting. The scent is so variable and shows you different ingredients at the same time, it´s very unique. I don´t like sweet perfumes but this one is sweet in perfect way and perfectly blended with spiciness and it is fresh and creamy (just a little bit) in the same time. And maybe that´s why I love it so much because it´s complicated perfume for complicated people (haha). No seriously, even this is very specific and bold perfume, it´s also perfume which you can wear all day long and it won´t bother you. But you need to get behind opening for realizing that. :)
Elsee
Never really been a fan of this one. There is something in there that just doesn't grab me. The name is great and some of the Daisy's are good but this one is a pass for me.

Mature, green with a hint of sweetness in there. Not my favourite
lysnoire
Oddly enough, despite sharing only iris and rose in their makeup, Decadence reminds me of D&G's The Only One. Both have an irresisitible, seductive quality to them -- Decadence's plum being more dark and brooding than The Only One's bittersweet coffee.
Decadence is rather blunt at initial spray and may offend some noses with how unapologetically juicy its plum is; but as it develops, the iris softens the sharpness of the fragrance and gives it its unique character. The drydown is intoxicating: imagine the feeling of being wrapped in velvet from your head to toes.
Understandably polarizing, this scent is not for the faint of heart. It's tart, and yet very warm. Soft, and yet filled with edge.
This is definitely more of a nighttime scent, ideally in summer and fall. I could definitely see this either as a signature scent or reserved and used only for extra special occasions.
Scent: 9/10
Projection: 7/10
Longevity: 7/10

I am on the fence on this one. Part of me really likes it. But there is something in it that lines in my nose and reminds me of Vicks vaporub. I can't place what now would do that, but if it wasn't for that I would love it.
novaklara98
My heart is broken that this is being discontinued. What a disaster. It was one of the most original and interesting perfumes put out by an non-niche perfume house in the last decades. By far. It's such a shame it's only the mass pleasers that make it on the market. My skin made the plum sing, it was enchantingly sweet and seductive, and as a side note, it drove men wild. The silage and the projection were perfect, without breaking the bank.
Really, what a damn, damn shame. It will forever be one of my favorites.

I am really enjoying this Scent. It is definitely a unique and well welcome addition to my collection and unlike any of my other fragrances. (Except for Divine)I purchased a travel size of this just to try before I buy, I already have a 30 ml of the Divine Decadence (gifted by my hubby) and it similar & nice too, but I actually like this one better. And will probably purchase a full size of it soon. This one seems a little more 'fresh' & lighter than the Divine (if that make sense). If I had to choose I would prefer the OG. As for the pickle smell that ALOT of reviewers are getting I didn't get ANY of that here. I have no clue as to what or why they are experiencing that. Both are awesome for the cooler Fall & Winter months. I use them both, for day/night. I can see this being a date night frag or just a cuddle, lounge around frag. With a very light hand, I can also see this in an office setting. This is a sophisticated scent that could very much be sexy. I will repurchase & keep this one( I won't repurchase the Divine) in my Fall Winter rotation until there aren't anymore. As I see they are sadly discontinued. Not a safe blind buy due to ALOT of the negative reviews.
vattenmelon
oh my god yuck. Sorry but not my cup of tea.
its very sharp, masculine and like a bug spray!
CheriLyn
From all the polarized comments about this perfume, I was prepared to not like it. But it's a perfect cold winter sweater weather perfume! It's slightly sweet, warm, and smokey type of wood thats almost spicy.
This is a stronger perfume and I can see it being headache or sneeze inducing if over-sprayed.
NDStars
First blast of cloying sweet slightly warm fruit, rose, and musk. Quite lovely actually, slightly off the beaten path for a mainstream designer scent but still easy to understand. The warmed fruit tone has an interesting dichotomy against the cold vegetal iris/orris butter; it smells warm but it feels cold. The whole scent sweetens as it warms on my skin and could be headache inducing if overdone in the summer so a little caution is needed. Feminine and would work for all weather as long as one doesn't go too heavy on the trigger.

Imagine you won a contest run by your local radio station, you know the one with the obnoxious sexist pig morning show duo, generically called something like "Big Dude Bro and the Little Vermin." Yeah, so you--lucky you!--entered this contest where the prize was the privilege of getting to spend the night in a local spot purported to be haunted. Great, right?! Well, turns out it's just a sketchy vape shop and the "ghost" is like, how someone saw Jesus's face in a baked potato or something. And that actually happened next door in the crusty diner. The moment you walk in the door you are assaulted by the sickening aroma of maple syrup vape juice, a cloying waft from an empty rum raisin ice cream container crawling with many-legged insects, and the dusty fumes of your meanest ancestor's cherry pipe tobacco. Was it a haunting or was it Marc Jacobs Decadence? You conclude that while you did not experience anything in the slightest bit supernatural, this vile combination of notes will certainly haunt you for the rest of your days.
D&gredcap
WARNING - this is definitely NOT a safe blind buy - I adore it but I understand lots of people hate it as it’s not really a flowery or generic gourmand.
sawadeecara
I thought I would not like this fragrance because of some YouTubers not hyping this up but it turns out that I love this perfume and would like to have a full bottle ASAP! #GirlBossVibes This fragrance starts of sweet and a bit of spice, and the dry down of green-vanillic smelling note with a bit of woody notes makes the fragrance very unique on its own. A total love at first sniff! 😍
Susi.312
In my quest for a great Fall Winter fragrance, I found Decadence and decided to give it a try. It is decadent for sure! Very appropriately named! Alas, I am not a decadent woman, so I dont think I could pull this off!
To me this was very fruity at first with the deep plum note. My mom would make a plum oven jam, which was very dark, complex and heavy. It reminded me a lot of that. Delicious! Then, it goes dry and woody while still feeling heavy and thick with plum and amber.
This is a fur coat, high heels and deep lipstick kind of woman smell...beautiful and decadent. I am a puffer coat, Burts Bees, and Birkenstock kind of gal. My search continues...

Such a beautiful and sexy perfume. It’s so sad that they discontinued that.

Okay, so lately I've been trying to expand my fall/winter perfume collection. The perfumes I own consist of mostly light, airy, spring and summer fragrances, which are my favorite. I heard this was being discontinued, and was able to find a bottle on a discount site. 100 mL, good enough just to try. I'm not a fan of heavy, syrupy fragrances, but the notes looked interesting to me. I honestly wanted to smell this just out of pure curiosity. Well, I can already tell this is going to be a nighttime winter staple for me. I don't really know how to explain it… This is definitely a heavy fragrance, however it's not overpowering. I can smell the plum in the opening, however it's not the most prominent note to me. This is pretty woodsy… But at the same time I'm not entirely sure what I'm smelling. While I'm walking, I get whiffs of it… I'm thinking it might be the papyrus? Maybe the vetiver? Unsure, but it's so endearing... this is an extremely sensual fragrance. This is the fragrance of a woman who knows what she wants in life. I really, really enjoy this. Shame its discontinued... this is very well done.
Edit: I wore this during my late fall trip to NYC, and now whenever I smell this, those memories come flooding back. And this fragrance was an absolute VIBE in that environment. I'll definitely be wearing it every annual NY visit. :)
Sihammm
One of my favourite fragrances in my collection. I already went through one bottle of this and then bought another bottle, but as soon as I heard that they discontinued this fragrance, I immediately bought a 100ml backup bottle. So I have 2 bottles of it atm.
I really love and enjoy this fragrance, because of the plum in combination with Jasmin Sambac and the vetiver (a note that is more often used in male fragrances). However this not a masculine fragrance at all. It’s special to me, because I have great memories attached to it. I haven’t smelled the same DNA anywhere else and because it’s a woody and sweet fragrance, it lasts a long time on me (6-8 hours) and if I spray it on my clothes/scarfes it lasts for days.
Charrise
I can't believe this got discontinue. It's a statement fragrance that separates the grand divas from little girls who all smell like soap and wimpy flowers. This is for a seductress.
emmascents
This smells niche - unusual, captivating and elegant. It does not smell like pickles on my skin, thank goodness, instead it comes across as rich, fruity, spicy scent, drying down to a beautiful powdery base. It's so unique compared to other Marc Jacobs fragrances, really unfortunate that it's been discontinued! I've picked up a backup, hoping that 200ml will last forever.
Perfect colder weather, nighttime scent which is bound to get some compliments.
haleykbhenry
If you like perfumes that fall into the categories of I'm elegant, I'm mysterious, I'm interesting, I don't give my time to just anybody because I'm important and have an empire to run then you might like this. It's very feminine in a unique kind of way. This is a perfume that every Woman's nose needs to experience (please note: I said woman not girl). I started my fragrance journey wearing Tom Ford Oud Wood. This is THAT.... BUT the more refined feminine version with the same level of elegance, if not more interesting. If you're into Tom Ford fall fragrances then you will looooooove this
The initial spray isn't what's important with this one. It's the first two minutes after that, the juicy plum comes through and it's so finely blended with the woody, earthy notes. I understand it's discontinued but I couldn't help but immediately order this after receiving my first sample and wearing it for the very first time. It almost gives you an idgaf attitude but in a boss type of way. Is there a chemical in here that psychologically makes you want to take over the world and accomplish all of your dreams?!?? Because this is it. Order a sample and see for yourself.
Saj_Shae
I really believe certain fragrances need time to "settle" before forming an opinion on them. This is one of them. When I first received it, I found it unbalanced, too pungent and very spicy. Now that my nose is more mature and I'm more experienced with saffron in fragrances + I gave this fragrance time to mature, it smells absolutely amazing. I adore the deep dry down of this but the overall fragrance smells like a decadent saffron and plum dessert. It shocks me that back in March 2021 when I first purchased Decadence, it was still available on all discount fragrance sites and now it's so difficult to find.. I no longer feel shame for buying back up bottles because you never know.
It's so disheartening that they discontinued this... The Marc Jacobs brand always discontinues their best/most unique fragrances :/
laperfumamor
Syrupy sweet fruity greatness.
The plum note sits and lasts throughout the day bringing to mind a plum or berry pie fresh from the oven. Fades into a luscious vanilla note with time. It makes a great first date fragrance!
Longevity: Lasted over 8 hours on my skin, and I could still smell it towards the end of the day.
Sillage: Moderate.
Decadence is now a favorite of mine.
Perfumedsecrets
This was always a scrubber perfume for me. I tried a sample years apart, and it always repulsed me. Can’t say why other than it must’ve been these particular notes combined. Based on the list, I don’t hate anything individually.
pinkstate
To my nose this is very similar to La Nuit Tresor by Lancome, very syrupy. I like both.
VelvetTrance
Just my luck I finally get to smell this beauty after it's been discontinued, and the best praise I can give it is to tell you I just spent a rather large chunk of cash on a full bottle because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I actually think this one lives up to its name. It's got a deep brown sugary amber base that I absolutely love, and the plum comes across as dark and juicy and luscious. Worthy of a splurge! No regrets!
faithy22
I was super curious of this perfume & was about to blind buy it but I sprayed it at the store because I wasn’t sure & have let it sit on my arm for like 4 hours now and I hate it! :( This scent stinks imo. It hits you in the face with a strong, nail polish remover scent and it’s given me a headache instantly. Im a gourmand lover & some comments where saying this is sweet & gourmand but most definitely not to my nose… I’ve washed my arm 4 times now and changed my top and the scent won’t go uh!!! I guess that’s a good thing if you love this fragrance, at-least it stays?
Aromaniacy
I absolutely adore this perfume. It was a gift from my sister. I fell in love with the bottle even though not everyone has the same opinion on this. A mature scent, in my opinion should be worn if you're 30+. For sure, autumn and winter nights is when it should be sprayed on. The weird thing is that in my nose I can't say I smell all the scents above, but something as a mix between the smell of winter fir and vanilla. It is a very unique fragrance, not worn often, in fact in my whole circle of people I know, I am the only one wearing it. Very unique, very deep, I smell it for long hours after, both skin and clothes. A woody treasure. I read it's discontinued, so if I find another bottle I will purchase it. Very disappointed that they discontinued it.
When I wear this, I feel very confident and that I am a boss woman, makes me feel very sexy.
adelaidesandrina
Is it weird that i find this perfume yummy? Because it truly is. It’s like bathing in a bathtub filled with the juiciest and the sweetest of plums. It’s not that floral IMO, there’s hints of jasmine here and there but i can’t really smell it. I must admit that this does smell like aura..
Aura leans more towards minty green, while Decadence leans more towards fruity.
The performance is mediocre at best.
elph
This is a really nice gourmand fragrance, strong on the first spray, opening up to an appealingly spicy dry down, then subtle at the close. I would agree with other reviewers who report that the sample sniff is not a reliable indication of what it will smell like on skin. The plum is very strong on the sample card, but it's nicely balanced by the iris on skin, and softened by the saffron. The dry down gives a strong, creamy orris flavor, adding a nice counterpoint to the Bulgarian rose, and a spicy preview of the papyrus. Eventually the scent will wind down into the amber and vetiver with a lower sillage than on the first spritz. The plum fades into the jasmine sambac, which then fades into the vetiver, which is a nice effect but doesn't ever let the jasmine be the star of the show. At least on my skin, mileage is likely to vary on that. On me, the strongest impression is assertively fruit forward, then softening into cream and spice, and I like it very much. It's not so green on me. More purple.
kokoako20
I have received a free test tube of this. I'm shookt. It has the same scent as my layered Al-Rehab Choco Musk 🍫 + Moschino Toy Boy (EDP)🌹. But it's not as beastly as my layering.
Cici20
I’ve tested this this out before and I just told myself that I hate it.
Today i decided to give it another chance and boy oh boy😭 I LOVE IT. It’s green, creamy and somehow not cloying. It’s like walking through a rainforest and then having vanilla ice cream while chilling at the waterfall. Yes it can be sexy, bossy and very intimidating. But on the right skin and with the right attitude...it’s definitely signature scent worthy.
I heard that it’s discontinued so I will get myself the biggest bottle and a back up before prices go crazy
100ml of Sass
Picked up the first full bottle I could find for backup once I heard it's being discontinued.. This is considered one of my signature fragrances. What do I do now.. :(

I'm hooked on Fragrantica and there's no going back, but sometimes I do wish I could return to the days when I walked into department stores, sampled whatever caught my eye, and then bought whatever was most pleasing to my nose, without being swayed by other people's opinions! I'm disgustingly easily influenced! I've seen this get bad review after bad review, and because I'm not keen on Marc Jacobs' other offerings, I wrote it off completely. And not because I don't like the bottle - you can call it cheap and tacky, but I reckon it's fabulously kitsch and downright adorable. And yes, GigiTheFashionista, I'd kill to see them make a 'real-life' version to tote this about in!
Well, I tried it today. And........ lesson learned. It's lovely! The plummy opening with the saffron does, in my humble opinion, do justice to the name 'Decadence', and I love Rose and jasmine anyway, so that's a win-win for me. It's nowhere near as sweet as his other creations, I enjoy the way the vetiver gives it a masculine edge. I find it very appealing, and I'm sorely tempted to purchase. It's been described as an evening scent, and as a single mummy, I don't get to do much dancing till dawn these days. Sod it. I can still be the best smelling shopper at the grocery store.
Note to self: Trust your own sniffer before all others - it 'nose' best (sorry, had to be done...)
InfinitEHorizoN
Wow, this is a modern-day masterpiece, this is simply an amazing fragrance! All the people who downvoted this fragrance either haven't tried it or just reading notes and voting against it. The presentation alone is 10/10, the fragrance is 9.5/10, longevity 6/10 and what is MOST IMPORTANT = IT IS AFFRORDABLE!!! This is a hundred bucks fragrance, not a $4000 like ROJA DOVE HAUTE LUXE so please haters go elsewhere with your high demanding & simply pathetic requests.
To all the fragrance lovers out there this is 100% a must addition to any collection and your loved one would smell like an angel from havens. I highly recommend it.
Bia_Cata
Two words: boss bitch. They really managed to convey the smell of a successful business woman/lawyer etc, the smell of money and fine luxury goods. Not for the dainty ladies. Very unusual for a designer fragrance, also extremely potent and long lasting.
Mariel-fragrances
SILENCE EVERYONE!!
Thisis the fragrance of a modern witch, an ancient sorceress reborn into the present!!
Not a pleaser for the massive audiences.. it´s a true masterpiece of the modern perfume world.
Plum, Papyrus, Vetiver, Saffron.. they are not waiting for you to get cozy, they strike you right at once... but in a pleasent and sofisticated way.
The scent is deep, resinous, floral, SEDUCTIVE and MYSTERIOUS.
If you are into this kind of deep powerful scents, you will love it ! I will make you feel sexy and mysterious.
My absolute favorite scent for winter, exclusive for special ocasions. I wore this to a wedding and got many compliments. Too beautiful and powerful to be wasted at the office in my opinion.
Sillage: Monster, kinda vintage style.. that good.
You WILL be noticed.
Longevity: Eternal longevity. It will not fail you.
Bottle: I love the materials, the color, the snake pattern, the deep emerald dusty green of the juice.. all of that is great, but the resamblance of a purse is.. kind of tacky to my taste. I would have preferred the shape of a crystal gem, or something less stupid than a PURSE..
flowers-in-the-springtime
In my youth and before I knew better, I would probably have liked Decadence. Today, I am much more discerning when it comes to perfume. Being a 'perfumaholic' for the last 10 years has taught me the good, the bad and the ugly of the perfume world and whilst I may not be that great an expert, or a connoisseur of notes, I have learned a thing or two over the years.
When the 'Daisy' range was created by MJ, it was a bland, wishy washy perfume which appealed to the young soulless floral lovers but this new fragrance is another new ball game.
Decadence opens with something so harsh and sharp that it seriously terrorises your olfactory senses. I honestly recoiled from the smell. I can only describe this as a blast of pepper and then a concoction of the most synthetic notes I have ever smelled.
I feel that this fragrance is trying to be YSL Black Opium, but someone has got this terribly wrong. The perfume doesn't soften or mellow, even after a whole day of wearing it, but it turns into something like a spicy version of Lancôme La Vie est Belle.
If you are an experienced perfumista, this perfume will not be to your liking as it has been created for the mass market. This is not a unique perfume, nor is it groundbreaking. I even think the bottle is gimmicky. Decadence will sell well for Christmas. The pubs, clubs and parties will be full of it making the air sweet and chewy.
On a positive note, if you like this kind of thing, and let's face it, millions of people do, Decadence is powerful, heavy and sticks to the skin like a glue. It doesn't budge an inch until it is literally scrubbed off.
I put this in the same genre as the new Savauge by Dior thank you, but no thank you.
Indulgence
I went out of my way to smell it because it seems like such a polarizing fragrance. I admit that I had low expectations. I tend to avoid vetiver as much as possible, so I expected to dislike it after reading the reviews, even the positive ones.
Never mind, it's absolutely stunning! It captivated me immediately. It's seductive and mysterious. It smells very classy to me, but with a darkness and an edge to it that I love. It exudes sensuality. It is definitely one to keep in your collection if you love florientals! The vetiver works well here, and I never thought I would say that.
It is definitely not for the dainty princesses (think Disney). This must be the fragrance that Cleopatra wore as a pharaoh, surely. ;-). It is for the regal, intelligent, and sophisticated woman.
Now, stay with me. Imagine two royal women, both of whom fit this description.
On one hand, you have the Kate Middleton persona: always impeccable in her appearance. There is never a hair out of place. She values propriety, politeness, and tradition. This woman epitomizes poise and grace. She is pleasant, charming, and well-mannered at all times.
On the other hand, you have the Meghan Markle persona: assertive, unafraid to voice her own opinion amidst disagreeing views, looks at you straight in the eyes in conversation, and knows exactly how to play the game but makes her own rules. She is stylish, grounded, centered, and comfortable in her own skin. She would never concern herself with the single hair out of place because she always looks effortlessly stunning.
This fragrance is Meghan Markle's, not Kate Middleton's.
Planet_X
Ok, I did it. I sprayed it on myself in Debenhams. With idea that I might be delusional and it should be something, anything out there, on modern designer perfume-stage , that you actually CAN wear. Nope.I wish I haven't done that. Synthetic sugar bomb, screechy, annoying, very cheap-smelling like. Also hollow inside, like those tacky Christmas tree decorations with no fantasy and quality, just shiny from afar. Drydown lasts forever and I feel covered by sticky smell of male Lynx deo, that teenagers love that much.
Farewell, my unhealthy experiences with open-minded approach.
chicagogirl
It is a mix of Guess's signature perfume for women, Beyonce Heat, CD Poison and Juicy Couture Couture Couture. It's heavy, musky and plummy (it doesn't smell exactly like CD Poison but has that same musky heaviness)
I think it smells very mature and unlike other popular MJ Fragrances I personally love (Daisy, Daisy ESF, Oh Lola...all my FAVES).
If you love the perfumes I mentioned you will love this.
Either way I'm dying at how cute and pretty the bottle is!!! A purse shaped bottle sounds like it would be extremely tacky (especially thinking about how tacky the bottles of Honey and that ladybug perfume are) but it's SO BEAUTIFUL, CHIC, ELEGANT AND CUTE! I want to buy this just for the amazing, gorgeous, cute bottle.

This was a solid 'no' for me.
Has a sharp, synthetic twang to it which never settles.
You can get far more natural, beautiful scents, for less coin.

Ok! Maybe I shouldn't be testing this in July and then even daring to write a review on it! But at least I was in the house with turned on AC the whole day! ... Seriously though, this is what I get from it in this weather on my skin. I will test again in the winter and see what would be the difference.
In this weather and on my skin, Decandece smells like an overly sweetened syrupy saffron dessert. Yes it is oriental but there is not much flowers here. I get an explosion of amber and jammy fruit and saffron with a sweet eastern gourmand rose. Generally speaking, I like vetiver a lot because it usually balances out the scent but Decandence is even too sweet for the vetiver to be able to rescue it. smoky and multi layered and complicated? Nope! I wish!
It does have good sillage for 4 hours and it's a very long lasting scent. 12+ hours on my skin in the summer!
Gotta wait for the winter, maybe I would find something different in Decandence then.
