It's a lovely blend of Tiare flower and uplifting citrusy notes that creates a fresh and luxurious scent experience. The base notes of Cashmeran and White Amber add a warm and luxurious touch to the fragrance, complementing the fresh and floral notes beautifully. The blending of all the notes together makes it perfect for those who enjoy floral fragrances with a touch of warmth and elegance.

The fragrance has good longevity power, so you can enjoy the beautiful scent throughout the day without having to reapply frequently. It's a great option if you're looking for a perfume that lasts long.

The shimmer adds a touch of glamour and makes it perfect for those special occasions when you want to shine bright like a star!

Overall, Alien Eau Extraordinaire Gold Shimmer by Thierry Mugler is a stunning fragrance! ❤️

UPDATE
Now I'm putting loose highlighter in EVERYTHING that has a refillable bottle/removeable cap! SO FUN! Even just a tiny bit makes the bottles look like swirling magic potions. Affect on skin is minimal but charming.

Using a super fine powder without glitter or larger particles that might get stuck. Haven't tried any pressed highlighters as concerned the binding agents could clog the sprayer. So fun to match scents to different shades/colors. Highly recommend!

I hate to to say this, I know it will make some of my fellow Fragrantians stress and search, but this is not quite the same scent as the original.

Wearing them side-by-side, on opposite wrists, the difference is very noticeable. This has a much greener opening. It's more wet/juicy, and not as rounded/smooth, slightly less sweet.

I guess this could just be a variation due to different batches or storage conditions, but I'm on my 2nd bottle of the original and it always opens sweet, citrusy, smooth. I was surprised this is so markedly different.

At the 2 hour mark they are almost identical but I can still smell that green quailty that makes it slightly fresher than the original. I doubt most people could tell the difference after a couple hours, unless you were intimately familiar with Alien Eau Extraordinaire already or wearing them side-by-side.

NOTE ON SHIMMER
I must say that the superfine, talc-like shimmer is quite delightful! It gives the impression of ultra moisturized skin rather than makeup. The fine consistency and dispersion are probably responsible for this effect.

Frankly, I'm wishing more of my favorite fragrances were made with this feature! I wonder if any of my loose highlighters have small enough particulate that they could be successfully used in a perfume without damaging the sprayer? I'd love to replicate this experience.

Review of full bottle blind-buy. I'm not upset at the high price I paid for this, it's worth it, I'm just annoyed I liked it so much and it's discontinued. Why do I do this to myself?! I'm just too damn curious!

Harpalike

I am feeling so beautiful, gentle and somehow naughty while I am wearing it. It is soft, round and without any harshness suggested by the top-notes described. The shimmer is delicate and underline the healthy outlook of the tinted skin. It’s sad that it is already discontinued.

This is my second review of this.

I have recently been neglecting this scent, simply because I have used it so much last summer that I grew a bit tired of it. But yesterday was the perfect weather for it- warm and sunny, but cool in the shade with some cheerful wind, and so I wore it the entire day.
Since this is quite weak and unnoticeable, at some point I forgot I was even wearing it. I was sitting in the garden of a coffee shop, drinking my drink and enjoying the lovely weather, when a sudden burst of wind brought to me the most wonderful scent- sweet yet gentle, fresh and feminine. The wind had caught some of my perfume and sent it back my way, and I was hit with delight.

We sometimes forget to appreciate the simple beauty of our scents, looking for the most extravagant and unique of them all, when in reality even a simple scent can be beautiful and captivating. Not every day is a "catwalk" kind of day, and I don't always want to put on a 5-star show. I sometimes need my simple and quiet sunny spring days at the coffee shop, sitting idly and appreciating the nice weather.

Blind bought this one- found a good deal on eBay- I recently have fallen in love with alien and have liked the flankers I’ve tested so I figured it was a safe purchase-

To me this is alien sheer with a light, fresh citrus opening- unlike mugler fragrances this one disappears from my skin quickly- can’t tell you what the dry down is as there is none on my skin-

When I’m able to smell it I do like it- within an hr it disappears- the original alien and the absolue are my favorite aliens- this is like a step child I like

Well i barely write reviews because Im hard to get impressed by perfumes. I was thinking about it a lot of time actually, because i like original Alien on others but not on me. Its agressive but edt and all other flankers ive tried arent great at all. I wasnt expecting a lot from that one, the only reason I bought it was the shimmer because I love glitters and everything that shines:)

So it was a blind buy, that kind of when you are afraid of open because you are afraid of not liking it. But hey..this was s very very very beautiful surprise. The scent is soft, feminine, powdery, just enough rosy and fruity for my taste because I have a problem that a lot of perfumes reminds me of air fresher.

Its a really nice catch, that kind of that doesnt bother nose of people around.

The only minus it longevity. I didnt smell myself for a long time, but Its a really soft scent I think.

Edit: On a winter days I can smell myself whole day.

Solar Girl

I ordered this thinking it was going to be exactly the same as Eau extraordinaire, plus the gorgeous shimmer.

Well....the shimmer IS gorgeous. But the fragrance is not the same. Bummer, I have to buy another bottle, this time original AeE which I love and see as one of best summer fragrances.

Like other reviews say, yes this one seems like EE summery version, with more pronounced citrus. But that is only the first 10, maybe 20 minutes.
What this golden liquid develops into is much more woody, Alien edp-like (more similar to Alien drydown then to EE), it is almost powdery in a peppery/spicy/woody way, with quite pronounced heliotrope.
Someone bellow said "no beautiful tiare" and I agree, no beach vibe in here. Lovely scent tho, but not what I was hoping for and not for me.

It reminds me tons of Armani Code, like it's summer version.

I will give it more time to see if we can get along, but it certainly won't replace the original Extraordinaire .

My friend, who is "Muglerphobic", gasped in delight when she smelled this one on me and demanded to know where she can buy it. In her words- it is "unisex, fresh but not fleeting, definitely unique but not overpowering".

I don't really feel the citrus in it, but I rarely ever do in any perfume (even citrus-heavy ones), must be something in my nose. To me it feels ambery, light, "sweet-ish" and very versatile.
It is not long-lasting and doesn't project like crazy, but in my opinion that's exactly how "summer frags" should behave.

This gets a big YES from me, will definitely repurchase when I'm out.

P.S. one of the reasons I adore it is because it's not very similar to the original, which is way too popular where I am. I kind of grew tired of always feeling the original on everyone.

Edit: today, for some reason, it turned kind of urine-y on me. This is the first time it has ever happened to me and I have been wearing it for months now. It must be either the extreme hot weather or me accidentally overspraying it. Anyway, I think that this is more spring and autumn appropriate rather than a summer fragrance.

PricklyAndHot

No beautiful tiare, as I hoped. Cashmeran, cashmeran, cashmeran...

Mrs. ELE Arjona

I took a quiz on the Mugler websight to find my scent and my answer was Alien eau Extraordinare. I bought this one on accident as my Husband and I made an internet order on a discount fragrant site. It was lumped together with the all the Alien eau Extraordinare options.

First of all the bottle is lovely. It looks like a movie prop that would look divine on camera, and in real life is fun to look at, hold, and watch the glitter swirl. They made the fluid look like some golden metallic elixir. I could do without the shimmer on me, but its small enough it doesn't recall late 90's body glitter so I can deal.

The smell is unique. You get the tea and citrus in the top. Very refreshing and a bit stringent. After that it dries down to a warm slightly sharp tiare. I live in Florida, and its nice and refreshing on a warm day. Will be interesting to try in the fall/winter. Inicidently one of the first times I wore it I was going about my day and I thought I was smelling some kind of interesting flower that was in bloom and then would recall, oh! Its my new perfume.

For me it was a good blind buy, but its a bit green and sharp perhaps so unless you like green citrus/tea/sharp white florals I would give it a whiff or a wear before purchase. I like that its sharp and less floral than most fragrances.

Lashiec

I usually am not big on scents that open with a citrus burst, but this dries down very quickly into an absolutely heavenly smell, and the citrus does contribute to this gorgeous amalgamation.

I may be biased but I could never see getting one without the golden shimmer. It's a unique trait, like Alien in general. Was too good to pass up. Mesmerizing in the bottle itself, doesn't really stand out much when sprayed on. Best of both worlds?

DEFINITELY has an Alien base on drydown, if you're a fan of amber (guilty) and fabulous bottles (double guilty) you need this in your collection.

*Warning. Contains vile opinion about original Alien*

OK straight up, I hate the original Alien. I don't like any of Mugler's best sellers. I thought this one is gonna be an eye rolling disappointment too but BOY was I wrong. I absolutely ADORE this!

The reason I hated Alien was because of it's attention screaming enormous sillage, the heavy amber, and the sticky artificial grape juice smell you get overall.

Alien Eau Extraordinaire Gold Shimmer is a warm and rich powdery scent.
It projects at a civilized radius. It's not grape juicy. The fresh citrus note balances out the sweetness. I kinda get that underlying classic Alien amber going on, but it's way low key.
The opening and middle citrus/floral development is a total pleasure to smell.
The base is a bit of an ambery boozy scent. The drydown is nowhere near as loud as the original Alien.

I'd wear this in the autumn and winter. I see this not as a fragrance to wear in the warm weather, but more of fragrance to remind yourself of warmth.

The glitter is a subtle shimmer. It rubs onto clothes but I don't mind it. My only concern is the possibility of the glitter accumulating over time and clogging up the nozzle.

The bottle is a spectacle. I'm mesmerized by the gold shimmer swirling and marbling around in its little alien incubator pod. I've never had a perfume that I can wear AND play with.
Alien Eau Extraordinaire Gold Shimmer has captivated my Alien-hating salty heart at first sight and first spray.

Annabear

I will give this is a little time, because on first spritz I found it dusty and woody and slightly lemon grassy. I am very old fashioned with fragrances, and tend to gravitate towards the white florals, chypres, oak mossy types, or wild blousy tuberoses.
Once the jarring opening settles down, it becomes more bearable, and it's probably fabulous on all the lovely young things out there, but I am afraid it's unlikely to be one of my top shelf favourites.

I have given this away, I am resigned to not liking any of Mugler’s fragrances, they are not for me...

albena.alexandrova

Lovely summer perfume. Intensive enough not to be impersonal. But also tolerant enough and pleasant in the summer heat. The temperature reaches the summer to 40 degrees Celsius. I also have the original version that is heavy on the warm days. In this version of "extraordinary" I feel my favorite sun flower tiarе flower. I expected to feel the tea stronger, but I like it too.

bettybee983

I get so many compliments on this beauty! It's sunshine in a bottle. I imagine this is what wood nymphs smell like. Delicate, airy, and able to transport you to the heart of a dewdrop!

Tigerlillian

I got the shimmer version quite by accident when I thought I was ordering a bottle of Alien Eau Extraordinaire without the sparkle. To my good fortune, I love this golden elixir better than the other as it is a little different to my recollection when sampling it over two years ago (see review).

AEE Gold Shimmer seems somehow smoother, less heliotrope, more lush bergamot tea, but still the same glow of amber and cozy cashmere and subtle musk. It also presents bushels of plush orange blossom and some velvety tiare.

The golden mica is hypnotic to watch too after gently shaking the bottle, like fresh spiraling honey warmed and illuminated by iridescent sunlight. The delicate microns are also subtle and pretty on the skin. The performance for an EDT is impressive too.

This is a versatile and charmingly alluring fragrance that would be suitable for a most seasons and occasions. Alien Eau Extraordinaire Gold Shimmer takes me to a place of joyful serenity!

Sadylady

Just just picked this up today so haven't really had time to be wooed yet, I do like the lemony floral and Im Getting abit of a Vicks vapor under not unpleasant but surprising as I've only had it on for an hour or so. I will get more in depth once I've done a few dances with it. I am loving the gold shimmer bottle it's like a magical brew gently swirling around to make you love it no matter what.

ursa124

It feels more lemony/citrus than the Alien Essence Absolute. A little more summer. Think the Versace "yellow diamonds" version of the original. It's good. But it's not variant enough to get it if you already have Absolute.

atenais_only

I like it! It's fresh and strong, long lasting. Sweet and not so sweet. Love Tiare flower. With golden shimmer inside. Perfect fo the day or evening! Reminds me Berlin and the musicle Wild for which Tierry Mugler made costumes.

addicttoperfume

I am a lover of so many Thierry Mugler scents! I didn't see that coming, as I didn't like the original alien all that much nor the original angel. This golden beauty is amazing!! I actually am able to wear this all year around. However, I seem to get the most compliments during the colder months. It smells so very feminine, bright, and yet very rich and luxurious in its own way. I have the 3oz bottle and as most of Thierry Mugler's scents are strong and last quite a long time (this scent has great longevity 5hours and sillage that is decent), I know this bottle will last me a while. However, I feel the need to keep a back up of this flanker too as they are getting hard to find. I like this version more than the one with no shimmer.

Silences

This is Alien eau Extraordinaire with a more pronounced lemon note. It sounds odd since it's not cited in the list of notes here but IS in the AEE. An employee of Thierry Mugler /Clarins pointed this out to me and she nailed it.

If you already have one, you need not buy the other. This is a great warmer weather alternative to Alien EDP.

I just ordered this at SEPHORA online the day before yesterday (blind buy) the shimmery limited edition just caught my attention, I love all things glitter! Lol I'm beyond exited as it should be arriving soon. Will update my review and describe my experience with it as soon as I receive! Stay tuned.....
