A*Men Ultra Zest by Mugler is a Woody Spicy fragrance for men. A*Men Ultra Zest was launched in 2015. A*Men Ultra Zest was created by Jacques Huclier and Quentin Bisch. Top notes are Blood Orange, Tangerine, Mint and Ginger; middle notes are Coffee, Cinnamon and Black Pepper; base notes are Patchouli, Vanilla and Tonka Bean.

After irresistible and very intense aromas of coffee, precious wood, masculine leather, Cuban tobacco and sweet spices which marked previous versions of the famous A*Men, positioning them successfully in the world of fragrances, this year Mugler tingles the imagination with luminous citruses blended with the popular composition of the original perfume. By creating a harmony of aromas with the accent on juicy, luminous and optimistic citruses Mugler introduces a new, strong version which perfectly combines layers and continues to surprise us regardless of the numerous editions and versions.

The composition of the latest edition THIERRY MUGLER A*MEN ULTRA ZEST introduces a new dose of juiciness, tartness and strong accords of red orange and tangerine cooled additionally by mint along with tart-lemonish ginger in the opening. As the composition develops, we will feel fine aromas of coffee (repeated from numerous version of the original) blended with sweet spicy accords of cinnamon and black pepper. A game of warm, bright and cold notes stretches all the way to the base created of warm and deep notes of vanilla, patchouli and tonka. The latest fragrance of the house of Thierry Mugler results in a top quality woody composition spiced well with a game of warm and cold spices and refreshed with citruses, evoking the pleasant feeling of summer mornings and the first rays of the sun tingling and warming our skin. The perfumers of the composition are Jacques Huclier and Quintin Bisch of Givaudan.

The new flacon of fragrance A*Men Ultra Zest repeats the design of previous editions and this time it arrives in a strong orange color with a star iridescent in shades of orange to yellow. The fragrance has been available since early 2015 as 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

@Elsiewoo I recommend just opening it and testing it out for yourself. I'm sure you'll like it and if not, an open box 99% full bottle will still sell handsomely well. That way it'll also weed out any one who only wants it to resell for higher, so that you'd be sure that it goes to someone that would use it.

I have a dilemma: I have a sealed 100ml EdT Mugler Amen Ultra Zest. What do i do with it?
I was doing a spring cleaning of my office (I worked in lifestyle media for many years), and to make some space I wanted to sell some perfumes I still kept over the years. Doing some research I found this lovely discussion. So now I am in doubt: I have a Amen Ultra Zest 100ml still sealed! Do I open the bottle to find out what you are all raving about? Or do I leave it closed and sell it to one of all the fans here? I would never dare to ask prices like 400€ on Ebay, but I do find it intriguing why this scent is in such high demand and why the prices are so exhorbitant!

Mr Inquisitor

I love this scent and it hurts it’s so expensive now. It’s damn near impossible to find and I don’t need to spray anymore but I want to. Great scent, nice and sweet. Like orange creamsicle.

FragBamboozler

Gentsccents needs to get his nose checked. This is nothing like PR red. This has more depth and less sweet with tangerine/ornage that lingers forever. PR red is just vanilla/praline without any depth. Patchouli adds more depth. Maybe 40% similar to PR red.

MrMrBrian

This House is what sent me down the rabbit hole buying all the others as they dropped and buying secondary bottles of the ones I already had before I ran out And by the time this come out and I thought I was done & ready to completely move & graduate on from all these amen flankers & then they came with these summer ones. This & kryptomint! Scroll on down the other reviews to know how it smells! I ordered this gem by mail and got it on its release day and later had a bottle in my car on my dresser in my gym bag!! Getting them left & right cheap after dicovering eBay! It wasn’t really popular and was my summer signature scent for 2 years maybe 3…now still got a bottle & 2 halves!!! Thankfull!!!

Hifza

My father used to love this fragrance, and sadly it got discontinued, his friend gave him it's inspiration from Dua - Zest In Havana and he is addicted to it. He smells so nice and also remains in good mood. Even people from his office asked about this scent and he was gladly sharing the details. Actually, it's a great refreshing scent!

Sweetboy05

@nisarsarah9 If you're looking for something as close to this as possible, your best choice would be Ultra Red by Paco Rabanne. I've owned it and it is one of the best fragrances I've ever owned. I highly recommend it!

nisarsarah9

This one had such a pleasant scent and even though I'm not a fan of masculine scents but I fell in love with this. Why on earth would they discontinue thiss? I am so annoyed and have been trying to find a dupe of this since so long but to no avail. Both me and my brother loved this cologne so much and we would really like it if anyone has a bottle of this they want to sell or if there is anyone who knows of a dupe or inspiration of this easily available, kindly let me know. I'll be really thankful!!! :'(

ikea50

I have to say this is well worth the hype and quite unique. I love Amen but this doesn’t really smell like the original. It starts off a zesty orange, transitions to a creamsicle and dries down to a strong grapefruit. Reminds me a lot of Bleu de Chanel, Afnan Turathi Blue, etc. Very pleasant scent. Is it worth $200++++? No, but it’s a collectors item and very enjoyable to wear.

Whateverwhocares

Beautiful, zesty, musky orange on a bed of very mild patchouli and vanilla. That’s your nuance, and it works. Unique. Super balanced and harmonious.

The orange notes smell like an orange Pellegrino seltzer. Orange popsicle. This smells great but the price, dismal performance, unavailability and viable alternatives make this a 🙂 instead of a 😎.

Turns into a vanilla creamsicle skin scent within 20 minutes. It might just lose potency over the years. I guess that some frags macerate while others expire. 😤

benkim

I really don't want to put any comments on a discontinued fragrance, especially when the price is whooping 350+ dollars online. I initially didn't like any of A*Men's flankers, and always have been a die-hard fan of A*Men.
This is probably the best of the flankers. Creamy orange popsicle as someone would describe it, really fits this fragrance. It is truly pleasant to smell - but not worth $350+ period.

JmThms

Very nice A*Men flanker. The OG, Pure Malt and Pure Havane are all great, but Ultra Zest may be the most pleasant of the line. Ultra Zest is a joy to wear. All fragrances in the A*Men line share significant DNA, but the bitter orange, tangerine, ginger and mint really make for a zesty opening and a creamy orange dreamcicle into the drydown.

fragrancen00b

Just thrifted a full tester bottle for $15 and wow, I’m torn between selling it or keeping it. Super refined and smells amazing! Definitely smell 3 components the strongest: vanilla, ginger, and patchouli. The other notes are more subdued to my nose but in combination, its definitely one of the truest standout designer fragrances you can buy. Definitely a year round on any occasion, any time scent (besides the HOTTEST and POLAR COLD days). Glad I found this coveted fragrance for cheap!

Raveen87

This is one of the best perfumes I've ever smelled. It's amazing in that it is very light and refreshing, while at the same time having many layers and being complex. This composition makes it suitable for every occasion. It's very citrusy with spicy complexity.

Joxa

@JPBoudier review is spot on for me.

Really nothing too exceptional or phenomenal being a scent I enjoy but don't fully love.

A nice refreshing uplifting citrus scent dulled by patchouli. Vanilla/Tonka follows as an underlying scent with hints of ginger, mint, and cinnamon. Don't smell the coffee so much.

Definitely enjoying the dry down more as everything blends together much nicer, but becomes pretty weak and fleeing at this point.

Will update after future applications as this is my first wearing impression.

Rob321x

Believe it or not it took me multiple wearings to really appreciate this fragrance. As to where other flankers such as pure malt we’re love at first sniff. I remember thinking this would smell a lot differently than it did. But it grew on me and the hype is real. Luckily I have two bottles and I rarely wear it because i don’t want to waste them, then I would be forced to buy a bottle for 400$ lol

GibFragrance93

@TheSniffer review further down. I also have Next Signature Gold, it is in fact a clone of Black XS by Paco Rabanne. I also have a Perfume Parlour clone of Ultra Zest so I have a good idea of the DNA. It is definitely closer to the Black XS. I personally don't get any Ultra Zest vibes from Signature Gold. Still a great Autumn scent, reminds me of Halloween time.

JPBourdier

The composition of notes is harmonious, but it is not loud.

The opening is like waxy citrus; I get overtones of ChapStick. Nothing medicinal, but sweet and fresh. It quickly proceeds to vanilla and almost reaches patchouli. I never picked up coffee.

The top notes and middle notes proceed quickly to the base which vanishes quickly itself. It is thoroughly enjoyable although short-lived. I would love to see this in an EDP concentration.

I Like Ultra Zest as a sequence of scents, but I don’t Love it, only because of how fleeting it is.

Jbicanic89

I've been blessed to have 2 bottles of this. Mugler has some of my favourite fragrances on the market, this being one of them. The magic is in the dry down, when that original DNA peaks through the zesty sweet opening. It's a masterpiece.

Manny44

This might be an unpopular opinion here but although I've always found the opening orange and coffee impression nice, I also found it too casual for many occasions, and even in a casual context I find myself getting sick of that trademark A*Men note. I've had the same 10 ml decant FOREVER and I doubt I'll ever finish it because it's just not for me. I do think that initial orange zest and coffee hit is really good though. I like Pure Malt the best of these flankers and it's not even close. No shade to people who love this. 6/10.

dantheman070

Ordered this on the day it was released. Upon first smell bought 3 more bottles since Mugler likes to discontinue their best fragrances.

Irvdaman15$

Masterpiece. Very expensive if your going to buy now. The fragrance is unique and will always hold a special place in my heart. 10/10.
I think it is the best flanker from the whole a* men line personally. Pure havane and Pure Malt are also amazing, however don't match up in my opinion to this unique summer gourmand fragrance. I think should have honey notes

Rob321x

I see people compare this to ultra red, okay I have both fragrances right now and I sprayed one on one hand and one of the other. Absolutely no similarities. Dont buy ultra red thinking you are getting a ultra zest like fragrance, the truth is there is no fragrance like ultra zest, not even close!

Rerik

Wrote this on 08/18/15 11:42 and it was deleted:
This doesn´t have anything to do with the original A*Men.
But it doesn´t mean that Ultra Zest is good.
It´s so ordinary.
A slightly fruity air freshener.
Another generic sport fragrance.

matthew.wright

I wish these swine's would re-release this! I only have about 20ml left. :( It smells delicious.

ROBOTHUG

Mugler discontinued this so that they could continue to sell it for 4x the original price on the Black Market.
Mugler also was trying to find a buyer for the brand for YEARS.
Enter Lo'real with a big fat check....and no plans to ever release the great A*Men hits.

Ford4630

The dry-down of this fragrance is absolutely phenomenal and highly ranks among the best I have ever smelled. This is a unique scent, which starts off with pure citrus orange, but develops into something much more musky and ultimately quite addictive. Longevity is also great.

Nightster

This fragrance is sooo good! It is fruity, fresh and a little spicy in the opening. And after that you get a hint of the original A*men dna because of the coffee and patchouly.

I found that this fragrance comes to life when it is at least 17C°. With colder weather the real beauty of this beast stays hidden.

I have bought Paco Rabanne Ultrared because of the reviews that said that it is almost the same.. but I was dissapointed. In my opinion it is very different.
I hope that MUGLER (hello do you read this) will give Jacques Huclier another change to create a masterpiece like this again!

Luxfare

Wonderful fragrance, hell knows why they’ve discontinued it. Burst of sweet Orange with an almost chocolate undertone accompanied with the Amen dna.
Not worth the price people are asking on eBay, try Paco ultrared for 95% the scent at 1/4 the price.

BatemansFragrances

SOTD after years of waiting to try.

This is EXACTLY like Kryptomint but without the mint + added ginger, Tangerine and orange. It is much more gourmand than i expected too but i Love it! If you have not tried either, basically both are a patchouli shaving cream/axe dark temptation showergel smell in the base. Krypto is minty like Mint chocolate thins and it has an earthy greeness, while Ultra is zingy and aggressive.

In the drydown you get this gingerbread cookie vibe from cinnamon and vanilla.

Rob321x

I feel bad for someone who doesn’t own a bottle of this. Luckily I have 2 and I don’t even want to spray them because I love it so much.

Mahmoody

What a fragrance! This has everything you could hope for in a fragrance; quality, depth, projection, lasting power! I still don't get why its discontinued given that it came out in 2015.
Its marketed as a summer fragrances but this is so powerful you could easily pull it off in winter and a crowd pleaser for sure. This is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it (maybe not 200 dollars).
I mean its 100% better than most Tom Ford summer fragances like neroli portofino or mandarino di amalfi yet people pay $200+ for them.
Honestly its in my top 5 designer fragrances of all time.

MNadz

Received a healthy 10mL decant of this. I believe this is a case where my expectations far exceeded my experience with this. It is nice...happy to have the decant...but not worth the hype it’s receiving since discontinuation.

Opens with a warm orange citrus opening. Not loud sparkling citrus that I would normally attribute to a summer fragrance...but nice enough for spring and fall. One can also immediately detect the classic AMan DNA in the background. As it dries down, a softer version of AMan with coffee nuisances come forth...making it a nice soft warm gentlemanly DNA.

Longevity is above average. Projection is slightly above average. This can be worn by men and women equally. Great for Spring and fall, but this does not fall into my summer category...too warm and not enough citrus punch. Versatility is not great as only two season for me.

Overall it nice. Certainly worth trying. I would NEVER pay what this is now fetching.

Ksj_

Why would they discontinue this? Makes zero sense.

brianfamous88

Thierry Mugler A*Men Ultra Zest EDT opens with a strong projection of sweet, citrus, and spicy notes. The opening is bold, very fresh, delectable, inviting, unique, bright. The blood orange, tangerine, vanilla, and coffee are the opening noticeable notes. The blood orange and tangerine create a delicious, vibrant, sweet, citrus, and sour accord, natural and evocative of the actual fruits. The ginger and mint are the boosting spicy notes, they enhance the sweetness and sourness of the orange and tangerine by adding a spicy, sharp, fresh, and cooling green accord. The coffee is noticeable but not bold or dark, the coffee in this fragrance is evocative of blonde coffee, a note that enhances the fragrance. As time passes the tonka bean and vanilla develop introducing a sweet, and caramel-like note. The cinnamon, black pepper, and patchouli are support notes, they have a modest but noticeable contribution, their combined notes come across as sweet, warm, spicy, and fresh green. The fragrance is relatively linear, the opening favors the citruses, they present themselves as delicious, natural, bright, and zesty. Towards the dry down, the tonka and vanilla smooth out some of the citrus edges, make the fragrance feel dry and sweet. Once Thierry Mugler A*Men Ultra Zest EDT has reached its full dry down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, sweet citrusy, orange, tangerine, coffee, spicy, mint, ginger, tonka, and vanilla fragrance with green accords. The fragrance feels appetizing, bold, casual, comforting, delicious, dense, diurnal, dry, exotic, energizing, fresh, fruity, gourmand, high-quality, intense, inviting, long-lasting, modern, natural, nicely-blended, playful, refreshing, rich, seductive, special, sweet, unique, unisex, wild, zesty and very pleasant.

I obtained a decant of this, so happy for that because this is a fantastic olfactory journey! From the mandarin-like opening, the drydown combines a freshy minty smell with some darker patchouli/coffee notes still with a blood orange in it, a fantastic drydown. No great sillage but longevity is good, even on my difficult skin. What a fantastic creation and what a shame it's not being produced anymore and the prices are accordingly exorbitant. Will keep this few ml for spring/summer and try to hunt down another decant...blissful scent.

mutatismutandis

Ultra Zest is the most interesting of the A*Men line and the one that takes you on an olfactory journey. I find it's an intimate skin scent fairly soon after application but the duration is substantial.

Ultra Zest opens with a mixture of coffee, patchouli and mandarin. It's a nice trio that works well. Twenty minutes in there's vanilla, a sort of vague muskiness and something green coming through. One hour in and the green note has revealed itself to be mint. At this stage the perfume is a combination of mint, patchouli, black pepper as the dominant trio with ginger and an orange note as the supporting duo. Here, the opening mandarin has calmed down and become a tangerine note instead. There is also coffee and vanilla in the background. Two and a half hours after application, the tangerine has gone but the rest of the structure remains intact. Three and a half hours in and it starts to fade. Five and a half hours in and it's really fading. Eight hours in it's still there but you have to really look for it. Little traces of it here and there stick around for up to ten hours or so.

It's interesting that the mint in Ultra Zest is stronger than that of Kryptomint. The mint - black pepper - ginger combination gives it a bite that Kryptomint lacks. I can't honestly say I get cinnamon but it could well be part of that spicy, bright bite.

Is it worth a second bottle? At £140+ for a 100 millilitre bottle ($189 dollars at today's exchange rate), no, it's not; and I've seen bottles advertised for £240. There's seemingly very little of it left about, judging by the eBay listings, and what there is seems to go for insane prices where bottles are concerned. I'd encourage people to buy a sample of it if the notes / note pyramid are their sort of thing - it's certainly worth a wear. But a bottle at these prices? You'd have to be out of your mind.

Mugler's best A*Men but price-prohibitive.

hkerfragrancehead

got a full second hand bottle for around 60 dollar, the opening is wonderful but it only last for 20 mins, then the orange just gone. i like it but it don't worth for a crazy price

ReapThaWhirlwind

The most modernized and true to style of fine fragrance up to its date. Ultra Zest delivered something new and exciting to the a A*Men line that had not been seen. A fresh citrus cologne—just in time for the summer. I was so breathtaken by this fragrance at it's release. Never before had I experienced a fragrance with so much character and facet—that transformed so dramatically—and theatrically.

The original formula opened with a lush bright orange accord, that had a rough, heated abrasive texture underneath; suggested to be the effects of coffee constitutes. It was so invigorating with it's qualities. Muscle busting. The opening lasted at extended while, then the fragrance began to transform into a super fresh, mentholated patchouli essence. The entire experience was like straight out of a scene from Wolverine in Japan.

I was die-hard for the opening, and did wish it was the basis for the fragrance, but I did welcome the transformation with an open mind. It was just so incredibly artistic. The freshness truly emulated crisp air, blowing through a vast wilderness; an almost meditative state. Impossible not to appreciate for me.

Yet tragically, I never would see that formula again. Just a linear, mentholated patchouli-like accord—imbued with a distinctly unnatural citrus backdrop. It would seem as though Mugler had performed a death move; much like the legendary scene between Magneto and Wolverine; and pulled out all the deep details from the skeleton of the fragrance—leaving just a mute, limp, lifeless puddle of the original formula.

"We are all bit players in a tragedy far larger than any of us; a tragedy called life, Logan. But today, for you, perhaps for me—the curtain falls—and the play is finished!"

Schnappo90

For those based in the UK, Perfume Parlour have a clone of Ultra Zest in stock at the moment called Saintly Smell For Men 1261. I have Ultra Zest on one hand, and the PP version on the other and it's pretty much identical. I dare say the projection is even a little better on the PP version. If you haven't been able to get your nose on it, then I definitely recommend trying the PP version.

Given that the PP is so close, I think I'm going to sell my bottle of Ultra Zest. Ultra Zest isn't one of my favourites anyway and I feel like it's a bit of a waste having it in my collection when I don't really wear it much. I do think it leans too much into the youthful side - would be a great scent for teenagers for sure. As someone going into their 30's, I'm not sure I can really pull this one off.

It's a nice scent, but I'm not sure it's worthy of the hype its getting since discontinuation. If you haven't smelt it yet, please do not blind buy this at a crazy price...you might be a bit disappointed.

7/10 for me.

The Godfather.91

I love it so much, if you Thierry Mugler's fan you'll love it for sure.

I am so frustrated that mugler discontinued these gems:

A*Men Pure Tonka, A*Men Ultra Zest, A*Men Kryptomint

Seriously some of the sexiest, inoffensive, delicious men's perfumes I've ever encountered in my life.

This is fresh, this is irresistible, this is well-blended & unique.
Women will compliment you like crazy. If you find any of these 3 online (by some MIRACLE), they are perfect blind buys, if you don't end up liking them 98% of people around you will!

spencediddy

I can't imagine this review will stay up long but I need to be honest.

Not sure what kind of orangesicle you people are growing up with but I have no idea how this made the descriptor. This is so intense! This is my first A-men DNA but I am not a fan whatsoever. May be one of the worst fragrances I've ever smelled (sans rose based scents). Smells dirty (like i need to shower just from smelling). Kind of a dirtier Chanel fragrance.

I can't imagine a scenario where this would work. I know Id be the guy gagging if someone walked by me with this on. Not sexy, not clean what a mess. Reminds me of and obnoxious sleazy Vegas blackjack player being loud and holding a scotch.

markfromark

Someone else summed this up pretty well. Pure Malt + Orange = Ultra Zest. To me it smells like those orange Tootsie Rolls I ate as a kid.

micavana

A great spring and summer scent. An Orange Creamsicle in a bottle.

ScentManJojo

I absolutely love this fragrance. It is bright, zesty and powerful. I get the citrus notes right off the bat and within a few minutes you start to notice the AMen DNA (although I believe it shares more with BMen than AMen). I understand the strategy of Mugler making this a flanker and I believe that has led to the numerous shameful neutral ratings. This will rock in the spring and hopefully the summer (In the south the humidity kills most scents). When I got this, it was under 50 dollars (and it is well worth it!). Now at ridiculous pricing online I would say you have to REALLY like it to get it. Otherwise, Enjoy!

gbone

projection and longevity are pretty poor but what an amazing fragrance ,i absolutely love it .....beautiful dry zesty(go figure) opening that morphs into that amen dna ,if this had better power id put it as one of my all time faves i prefer it to my allure homme sport and dior homme sport on smell alone easily

walking round asda today my 9 year old granddaughter said i can smell something thats putting me in a good mood ,i said is it me? ...she took a whiff and said yeah ....and she has never acknowledged anything ive ever worn before :)

Juiceman 0331

Please bring this one back, just like how Pure Malt and Pure Havane were supposed to be limited editions, but they were brought back. Alot of of people that missed out on this one will be glad if Pure Zest is brought back even if it’s only for a limited edition again. I will get 5 boxes that would probably last me for 20 years and I’m fine with that.

mmcdonald36

I was well aware of it before it was discontinued and hyped, and let me tell ya... it’s not worth anywhere near $185. The only reason it’s worth even $100 is if you’re into buying discontinued fragrances, but you should really be trying to buy low and either hold onto it and enjoy it or sell high. If you’re buying high you’re doing it wrong.

richmilton

Nice summery fragrance reminds me an orange cream sherbert with touch of citrus and some green notes. Unfortunately hyped to the max because of it being discontinued. The $180-$250 prices on eBay is hilarious. But these eBay sellers know there's a sucker everyday.

Le Chypriote

Did they really discontinue this???

This is juicy, creamy orange with a seductive patchouli dry-down. Such a unique and wonderful fragrance - a classic gourmand to add to your collection. It's probably the only gourmand I would choose to wear in the Summer.

tabularasaus

This has been my fun little go to fragrance for the summers of 2018 and the current summer of 2019. I feel slightly guilty spraying this knowing that it’s discontinued. I wish longevity was longer, but it’s a summer drag, you can’t expect too much. Slightly reminds me of kryptomint, perhaps due to the Amen dna. I still have 3/4 of my 3.4oz. Hopefully I’ll be able to play with it for a few more summers to come.

ScentClick

The name and the color of the bottle illustrate the scent perfectly. A highly versatile citrusy sweet fresh performer and a compliment magnet. Girls love this potion. For me this is hands down a 10/10. In the same realm of Pure Malt Creation 2013, IMHO.
Zest is more playful, Creation more sophisticated.

Original A*Men + (blood orange-tangerine) + patchouli = Ultra Zest

It starts 60% orange/tangerine, 20% original A*Men, & 20% patchouli. Beautifully fresh & mildly sweet.

However, as it dries down, as others have said, it becomes 70% patchouli-laden original A*Men, 30% orange/tangerine.

The "zest" just fades & stays soft in the background, turning Ultra Zest into an "orangish, patchouli-er A*Men".

Of all the A*Men flankers, this is by far my favorite. Choosing orange as the fresh note is a master stroke. Look at the chocolate industry, the most common citrus flavor added to chocolate is orange. It just compliments the sweet gourmand scent/taste so well.

Such a shame the zestiness dials down to a minimal at the drydown.

Still like it, still wear it.

A very good job from Jacques Huclier and Quentin Bisch.

Bambo

The opening is glorious. Then the fruityness kinda fades away and smells smth like original a*men.

Jung Nguyen

I love this fragrance, unusual longevity of citrus notes, even though "citrus notes are volatile and would have evaporated completely after ~30 mins". However, the citrus scent lingers on my skin ~5h, unbelievable. Also, this is my favourite citrusy because, despite its sourness, it's still soft with mainly the scent of the yellow lemon fruit when you just cut open one. It makes me feel sour, fresh on the tip of my tongue. Simply amazing.

Gonga

Nice , but makes me headache. Unuseable.

jjr

Unique for sure. unusual mix of a citrus blast with heavy notes of the original Mugler = not a typical summer freshie. IMHO too heavy for summer days.

'Citrus blast' fades away after +/- 30min

surprisingly a nuclear projection + longevity on my skin - applied at 9am could be still noticed during my training at 9pm

My two female colleagues absolutely detested it - they used to compare it to a toilet cleaner (so I would not call it a crowd pleaser)

To me, this one and Pure Havane are the the strongest Mugler's releases. I like it but i do not love it though.

Cheers!

Bobomicula

This i awesome, they nèed te reinstate this

tithonus

It's hit or miss, do not blind buy this.
Some of em love this while some think it's just okay.
Discontinued gem IMO.

Well, well, Thierry Mugler... all of my life trying to scape of your fragrances and now look at me, in love with this one!
All of the Mugler's perfumes are so, so strong for my nose in the first spray and this has always caused me rejection BUT I'm a person that never gives up and his bottles and publicity always makes me want to know more about this designer even when I still rejected him!
A few days ago, I was on a perfumery and I look at this jazzy bottle and I spray it on my arm and... oh God, love at the first spray and in my head sounded the word "FINALLY", finally I smell a fragrance of Mugler that I love, finally I can have one bottle in my collection, because of course this bottle was going to come to my house.

This scent is so sweet, so fresh, SO orange!
I put this on my skin and I can't stop smelling that scent... wow! I love it, and I really love it!
Since that, I'm going to take a second chance to Mugler's fragrances.

a8k9

A burst of citrus blended with the original A*Men DNA. It is a lot more tamed than the original and is less 'in your face'. The opening reminds me a bit of Ultra Red Man as mentioned by others previously.

I find Ultra Zest more pleasant than the original and more mass appealing. Unfortunately, the citrus tends to fade after about an 30 mins/1 hour and you're pretty much left with A*Men with the slightest hint of citrus.

Longevity is pretty good, 4-6 hours easily. Projection however is moderate and I expected more from a Mugler. Still, a very nice fragrance, well suited for warmer weather.

I managed to snag a bottle of this amazing juice and I only have one problem - I want the initial citrus blast to last, yet it doesn't.
It opens with a spicy yet sweet blood orange (to my nose, mixed with ginger and cinnamon) which lasts roughly half an hour before calming down. At this point, the citrus blends in perfectly with the back drop of a tamed original A*Men.
I receive a fairly moderate sillage and longevity and I will admit that I was expecting a bit more from Mugler.
I wouldn't exactly call this a groundbreaking scent, but holy **** is it nice!
Overall this gets a 7/10 from me :)

Waterman11

Spiced orange creamsicle.

Tbh I would have thought this fragrance to be darker or spicier than it is but the patchouli and coffee are very toned down imo.

Ultra Zest is mostly a very sweet and creamy fragrance with a heavy dose of blood orange/vanilla/tonka. Then they added a dash of ginger/cinnamon to give it a little spice.

It is very uplifting and a good change of pace from your run of the mill warm weather citruses/aquatics. Sadly discontinued.

To me it just smells like the classic A*men with splash of orange. The orange fades away quite quick and then all i smell is patchouli and coffee

The scent is incredible,i love the smell. But poor lovngevity on me. Just 1 hour perform and last for 3 hours skin scent.

OFFICIALLY DISCONTINUED.

If you can bury any preconceived notions about the nine hundred A*Men flankers and their goofy looking bottles, then you just may be able to enjoy the rejuvenating orange choco fiesta that is Ultra Zest. A burst of citrus kicks things off. Chunks of blood orange, tangerine, and a quiet mint announce themselves like a deep sunrise. Mugler's trademark rubbery gourmand DNA lurks in the background, until eventually taking over the entire party a few hours later. It's a fun citrus scent because it's an A*Men scent, and in this case it's predictability works in its favor. While many citrus based scents tend to conjure the spritzed Hermes ambiance, neroli vetiver classic hotel bar soap (not that there's anything wrong with these), or just plain generic mall cologne, Ultra Zest remains at home in Willy Wonka country. It's a fun one, and could be great for a relaxed summer evening. I understand the gripes one may have with the what you see is what you get redundancy of the A*Men line, but it's a product that obviously does very well on the market. For me they've always been wonderful scents that remind us not to take fragrances too seriously.

Sirgrant428

Absolutely spectacular fragrance. One of my new favorites by a mile.

Winchester

One of the best summerfrag of all time!! IF you find it, buy it!

gregk

One of my favorites! As others have said - it's an orange creamsicle. It's got the trademark coffee and patchouli base of the other A*Men flankers but enough zesty orange to make it versatile and a fantastic choice for warm and cold days alike. Wore this last night on Canada Day and a girl told me I smelled delicious when I went in for a hug. Probably one of my most complimented (up there with Aventus and Cool Water)

Raysmooth

I dont get the orange cream smell everybody says it smells like,I honestly sold both bottles I had cause to me mandarina duck black smells better and similar and it only cost 20 bucks, this one was not a like for me

jamesward

The smell.....hmmmmmm.....have you ever been pimpslapped by an orange cremesicle? If not.....come get you some gents, It's amazing!!! Summer in a bottle!!! You can't go wrong, great frag.

Benmax

Wow woooow Very good summerfragance longlasting too....one off my favorite fragance:-)
Just buy it if yuo can get it :-D

Arsenal Till I Die

I see this compared to Pute Malt but I don’t see it. Not even a little. Another terrible Thieyrey fragrance. Easily unisex and arguably better for a lady. Has a huge perfumey vibe. How on earth this gets compared to an orange creamsicle I’ll never know just like that comparison with edition Blanche smelling like a lemon meriangue pie. Youtubers taking the piss again with these wack descriptions and spreading it like wildfire among their circles to generate hype. They both don’t resemble anything edible at all, not even slightly I wish they actually did but sadly it’s not the case and highly misleading. Ultra Zest isn’t even good for warm weather it’s juat too heavy and cloying and it’s not good enough for the colder weather for me because I’d rather wear something else.

The smell iz amazing, start is incredible especially(such a blast of citruses ginger and mint)! It's a smell of happiness, all that I can say.
But it just doesn't last. At all. Top is fading after 10 minutes and then it becomes so quite I can barely feel it. No sillage at all. 2-3 hours and it's gone.
Maybe it's my skin, maybe my nose, maybe bad batch. But I wish this perfume of joy to last longer. And it's not giving me that time.

But the smell is fantastic. I'd recomment even as a blindbuy.

Original a men with an orange twist. Would of been incredible if the orange lasted throughout the scent. It dies down quickly in the opening leaving behind the orininal. Average longevity. Good flanker but not great

hisaac

disclaimer: my bottle is second-hand, it's roughly 1.5 years' old

I cant smell much of the mint. The creamy, citrus opening is definitely pleasant, but I'm not a fan of how it blends with the chocolate base. In my opinion, I can smell too much of the chocolate together with the citrusy notes, and they don't go well together.

Maybe it's just because my bottle is old and the citrus/mint notes have faded over time...

BIBLEBOY

Almost identical to Kryptomint.

I like this one. A Man with a splash of orange.

Tonight im wearing this juice
Wow this is amazing makes me relax to sleep now the smell is reallyy great full of fruity notes like blood oranges , oranges , mandarins and tangerines
Wow very nice its really like blood orange juices has little bitter smell in it too and also some fade sweetness
Love it
But the longevity is not good maybe just for 3 or 6 hours and about 1 to 2 hours projections but still i love it
I can’t stop smelling my hamd very delicious smell of oranges

No freshly peeled oranges here. More like Fanta Orange or an orange scented freshener.
I am fine with Mugler’s synthetic smelling A*Men line, and i actually love the plasticky nuance most of them have. But in the “Zesty” version it bothers me. Not sure if it’s the pepper that’s too much in the coffee, or the cheap smelling orange, but overall this release gets my like just because of my love for the original.

I hope i’m wrong but it looks like Mugler is getting a bit lazy with his A*Men Line. Last year’s Minty A’Men is a disgrace, 2016’s Pure Tonka smells a bit like a recycled B”Men (which i adore), and this one is neither ultra, nor zesty enough.
On the other hand it’s a colorful and interesting addition to the A*Men family.

I would like a yellow (amber for example) or pink (rose) A” Men for 2018, please!

My God this is beyond incredible. The only A*men fragrance that I own and love. Playful, sweet and seductive beast. 10/10

Hastey

Another brilliant flanker and the perfect name for it, cause that opening is zesty! The blood orange is brilliant in this. It does however, and unfortunately, tone down, making way for the familiar A*Men DNA. Unlike many others, I still get the orange zest even in dry down, it’s in the background, giving it enough to make the fragrance stand on its own two feet.

Test before buying. To some this might be a redundant, but to some it’s bottle worthy.

Epk

That exotic blood orange/tangerine had me wanting to go out and hunt some down and devour them! The opening to the first couple hours makes this one from the Mugler lineup the best one! After that, however it dissipates to a light coffee vanilla smell for a few more hours and then gone, not even a skin scent. Best smelling, yet the worst longevity out of the Mugler lineup. The opening left me begging for more, such a tease. Interpol will be after me for hijacking the world supply of blood oranges after this one, folks.

fromthebayandaroundtheway

A*Men Ultra Zest makes you stop in your tracks and say whoa! This is something new and original. Oranges and zest in all their glory. At first sniff this fragrance is a no brainer... except for one thing... the Mugler DNA and simply a too heavy of a hand of coffee.

A*Men Ultra Zest opens brilliantly, blood oranges, tangerines and ginger create a truly unique scent. This opening is brilliant then it just gets pushed away by a heavy dose of coffee and patchouli, and it leaves you wanting more. C'mon zest is in the name and the bottle is a vibrant orange. After the coffee and patchouli have made their presence felt we are left with the A*men DNA and a bit of orange, mint and pepper to give this scent some energy. This fragrance does not evolve much and stays very gourmand. This scent is classified as a woody spicy but wood is the last thing I pick up here, and I'd even add that some sandalwood may have helped here. A*Men Ultra zest is neither a hit nor a miss with me, I am just slightly disappointed with how this trick of flankers with a singular fragrance as a base is getting old and I am sad I keep believing in it (To be fair Pure Tonka was a real redemption in my opinion!).

This is a great scent for spring/fall/winter. I wore this around Christmas time because I found it to be a great tribute to Terry's Chocolate Orange Ball. I think this can be worn by twenty year olds and up. When you wear this think fun and good times so forget the office, think gatherings with friends and family. This fragrance is a great way to switch up the winter/fall rotation while still staying interesting and within the theme.

A Lonely Little Petunia

Bummer! This opened with a lovely orange and patchouli but almost completely faded, in record time, leaving only a faint saltiness. None of the other notes made any sort of appearance.

I just received mine from Ulta, clearly unopened or tampered with, so it's absolutely authentic. I checked the batch code and it was made in December of 2015. I was able to register it at Mugler's "Circle". ( I have no idea why Ulta is selling such old batches. I also ordered Pure Malt and returned it due to it being nearly 4 years old.)

I love A*Men and nearly all the flankers, but this is such a letdown!

Ultra Zest smells nothing at all like Kryptomint, a delightful unisex wonder as far as I'm concerned.

Sidney Goosecreature

This one puzzles me quite a lot.

I love A*Men. LOVE it. It's one of my must-have essentials on the shelf.

As a flanker, this clearly is a close relative to A*Men. Perhaps too close. It comes roaring out of the trap just like A*Men, but instead of that amazing dirty sex tar note, there's a blast of orange. It's a sticky orange, like a Valencia covered in sugar that's been left out in the Florida sunshine. It's quite nice, but it doesn't last. And the lack of tar makes it very sweet, maybe too sweet for me.

As it dries down it slips into classic A*Men coffee-and-toffee, again with some of the grunt taken away. It's pleasant, and I enjoyed wearing it. Would I buy a whole bottle? Not sure. The way I feel about it is if I wanted an A*Men option without the tar, I'd just wear Angel.

Wolf13

Fantastic pyramid, but dry down is terrible. I don't know why. Maybe because of chemicals. If it was a natural probably it would be better.

Nopat

Ultra Zest opens with blood orange that gets almost ran over by patchouli, this in really pleasant juxtaposition of bright blood orange and darker patchouli. After a while the scent starts to blend out more, I do still get the blood orange and patchouli but they are not that pronounced with more on the background, like vanilla and something else, I’m bit hesitant to call it coffee. Ultra Zest is easy to identify as part of the A*Men line, the DNA is definitely there. When the scent has dried down its mostly the same as mid but quieter with this one off note at times, I just can’t pin point it as I get it constantly inconsistently, if that makes any sense?

Longevity surprised me a bit, the blood orange sadly died bit too quickly in my opinion and left the A*Men’ish drydown that lasts quite a while, but it is milder compared to one from the original, but that might be cause its reined in a bit for summer scent. Sillage is nice; I smell nice little wafts from time to time. As with longevity, I thought I would get more than I did but then again this is for summer, right?

Overall I find Ultra Zest to be good scent but as I’m indifferent about the A*Men’ish drydown, I don’t hate it nor love it so that’s quite a big part why I’m not in to this one as many others are. If you are one of those who love A*Men lines drydown I don’t really see why you would not like this, as this has added nice blood orange in the opening and the overall strength has been only brought down a notch for warm weather use.

MissAnnette

Where is the orange creamsicle? :'c I only get an Orange Glade air freshener. Pleasant but not the yummy orange creamsicle I was hoping for. I hate the bottle too. It's so awkward to spray.

wodzocelot

I hate sweet smells. tonka, tonka everywhere! and I hate classic A*men - I'm blonde and believe the classic one is only for dark haired, mature guy. but this one... OMG, this juice was so tasty I'd love to literaly lick myself. amazing sweet orange for hot summer nights. and all girls loved it too! this was what a 'flanker" should be about - next, fadcinating layer of the core one, something people who hate orginal could truely love. I really miss Ultra Zest. hope they will make a re-issue in 2018

Thee Maestro

Let's be frank, this isn't a summer scent and for me,the least sweet of the range. That sweet, bright opening of fresh orange barely lasted an hour on my skin. After that it turns slightly spicy with the cinnamon and pepper and ginger, I suppose. Throughout the long life of this fragrance on my skin, the blood orange, combined with patchouli give off a woody like note. Sometimes I ask myself, why do I smell encre noire sport? Or is it Norwegian wood?

It truly scrambles my mind and that's where the disappointment is,it fails to fulfill it's promise of light and bright.
There's no addition to my summer collection, after all, nevertheless I do enjoy it.

Pure havane no 1 pure malt no 2 ultra zest no 3 amen no 4 but i stil love amen drydown

noelmarchaynes

For me the best flanker after Pure Malt - However like Pure Havane & Tonka, very poor performance. 2 hours and its gone. But those 2 hours are magic!

JohnnyCR

This is one I loved, then didn't and now love again.

While I agree it opens with a ton of citrus, it is certainly a gourmand fragrance, and one for warm weather at that! I love the mixture of citrus and the A Men DNA, specifically the patchouli. It is so much more interesting than some of the citrus scents on the market.

That being said, for me it is a warm weather NIGHT fragrance. I think it would get cloying if worn in the hottest part of the day.

It has good longevity on me and I have no idea how to measure projection because I refuse to keep asking those around me if they can smell my fragrance. However, I can smell it for most of the time I wear it so that's a good sign.

Donjuandemarco

I have been using ultra zest since last spring. It's unique for sure. When i first bought it i liked it so much and bought another bottle after 2 days. It reminded me so much of pure malt and more wearable during spring and summer evenings on hot summer days i find it too thick almost gourmandy. Not quite but bitter sweet citrus. Patchouli at the dry down very dominant which makes this scent easy to wear all year around. And the longevity is really good it stays on my skin around 10 hours, even after 5-6 hours i get whiffs of it from time to time, without spraying clothes. Compliment factor is also very high. I wanted to sell this recently but thank god i didn't. It grows on me everytime i wear it which is once a week. But better this way, a bit distance to miss it!
8/10

8271464

Too much citrusy for about 1 hour not bad it,s smooth and then after u begin to smell like vanilla cofee pure havane is the best of the line and second pure malt and then ultra zest

RWF

Ultra Zest isn't the fresh type of fragrance you might imagine, but actually more of a gourmand. The trademark Amen smell is present throughout the duration and the orange is sweet. I do believe its more versatile than the other flankers, but I would personally keep this to casual wear, perhaps a summer evening party would be it's best environment. It gives off a fun vibe that I know a lot of people will like, it's just whether you'll enjoy it as much as they would. I personally was hoping for something fresher, but I still like it.

sproaty

I really like the opening on this, but once it hits that creamy drydown, it unfortunately starts to grate upon me and loses its appeal quickly. Shame the brightness of the opening wasn't carried out for longer, the first hour or so is great.

Performance is not as good as others in the line neither, I get maybe an hour and half of decent projection then with a much lighter sileage and projection during the drydown.

Erekose7

Of all the A*men flankers, Ultra Zest (for better or worse) is the most true to the original that I have tried thus far.

(I have sampled A*men Original, Pure Malt, Pure Havane, Ultra Zest, and Pure Tonka)

It starts off with a very potent orange/citrus which stands strong for just over 30 minutes on my skin. After which, it dries down to the familiar scent of the original A*men which started it all!

update: about 3-4 hours into wearing, the patchouli is so strong and potent I had to wash it off as I am no fan of that particular ingredient. Patchouli lovers rejoice!

mkpunk

A*Men Ultra Zest is nice. It's a better more expensive gourmand version of Dunhill Desire for a Man or Cuba Orange. Like if you replaced the citrus notes with blood orange and tangerine and added coffee while removing florals, you'd get Ultra Zest. At first I only kind of liked it but found it a bit lacking. I normally hold scents and this would be one of those scents that become un-detectible to my skin after about five hours. Then my now ex-girlfriend smelt it on me. She loved coffee notes on me for some reason. Now it is a bit stronger like but the fact it is pretty pricey is an annoyance to me, especially if I could instead wear Cuba Orange and get the same vibe.

Don't get me wrong, Cuba Orange is nowhere near as good as Ultra Zest. Cuba Orange is a prototype Ultra Zest if you remove a lot of true gourmand feel of this scent. The Friendly's orange creme accord smells more natural here. That said it also has a coffee smell to it that Cuba Orange does not have (mainly because it was rather a Dunhill Desire clone which doesn't have that aspect either.) The fact is you can easily trick people with Cuba Orange once Ultra Zest is no longer in circulation.

Overall I give A*Men Ultra Zest a 7.6 out of 10. It's really nice but too pricy for me, even before we throw in that it is not in circulation now. It's really nice and semi-unique but not quite unique enough.

8271464

Sorry guys but pure malt smells so much better ultra zest is heavy on the citrus but after 1 hour u only get vanilla cofee with some citus in the back but pure malt drydown u smell like vanilla caramel honey with hints of chocolade cofee pure malt is much much better smoother sweeter fruty

wodzocelot

any substitutes guys? even on the Internet in Poland is almost finished and that's my favourit fragrance of all. mhm?

ssaminn

I'm an Angel addict and A*men addict! I love Thierry Mugler's Patchoulis! Wherever they're hiding their infinite recourse of this smell, I hope they would never run out! It's heavenly!

Ultra zest starts whit a lovely mixture of Patchouli with bittersweet zesty, tangy blood oranges. Tangerine? Sure but the smell of the whole fruit, along with the bitter skin. This smell is backed up by coffee, tonka, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon and ginger. Mint? Maybe, but it's blended with the patchouli and bitter skin of the oranges so it basically would smell the same. Oddly enough, the smell of coffee is very obvious to my nose more than any other A*men flankers.

Ultra zest is a coffee and patchouli flavored orange creamsicle! I'm just gonna consider it unisex because as a woman I NEED to wear this, and I don't care what people think! I want this scent around me in the spring and summer. I hate warm weather and this scent along with a few others like D&G light blue for women make me happy and more patient in the heat. The sillage is my only complaint with this scent which is elbows length for the first 30 minutes and then starts getting close to the skin. The longevity is about 3 hours on me. One of those scents that you can spray like five times; or better still, re-spray every 2-3 hours.

At the end of the day, I love you Ultra Zest; my summer is already brighter and more tolerable because of you!

jigginssean

A different take on a fresh scent. It seems to have an all season versatility factor to it because its fresh enough for summer but still strong enough for winter. My mate wore this to work and he couldn't smell it on himself however i could smell it projecting off of him pretty much all day and i also got decent longevity myself. Only gave this one a single wearing so far since iv'e only just acquired it but it is all good in my books!

thiagomartini

This is a weaker Pure Malt + citrus. End of story.

7 out of 10.

Forsyte

Wanted to like it, but it's a bit too cloying to my taste. There's a note there that annoys me, might be the blood orange, it's very heavy and far from fresh.

Talking about overrated fragrances. 5/10

HurAcraft

No way in hell batch variation makes for a 6 hour longevity difference or more.

People lie about longevity all the time, look at some aquatics/citrus based.. all voting lasts very long 8-12 hrs.. lol alright... Those last 4-6 hours AT BEST being generous.

My ultra zest also lasts 3-5 hours at best, april 2015 batch.. its the weakest of the 4 muglers I own. Pure malt, tonka and havane all perform excellent 8 + hrs... Zest doesn't and it's a legit bottle.

The scent is amazing, but not much joy when you and others can't even smell it a few hrs in.

Richie097

A blast of sweet orange at the top which gradually dries down to the patchouli a men formula. A brilliant scent however for me the performance is pretty poor. Only about 3-4 hours of longevity and projects for only around 1 hour. It is a genuine bottle so I'm thinking there must be different batch variations as many say they get great longevity. Nevertheless a great scent and the lucky people who get 8-10 hours on the skin are in for a treat.

Scent- 8.5
Longevity- 5
Projection-5

Ultra zest is sweet but not supersweet a less sweeter version of amen whit almost same dna...the swell is amazing....just like sweet orange vanillie patchouli and the amen dna .......but pure malt is the best...u get sweet berries whiskey caramel at top and the vanillie chocolade koffie patchouli amen drydown

mehrdadmoussavi

can someone tell me if this one is sweeter than CH men?
CH men is too sweet for me and I don't want to bind buy something as sweet as that

Terps

I really like this one from TM, My favorite from the AMen line. I can see why people keep describing this as having and orange creamsicle vibe, but to me this reminds me a-lot more of oranges with Li-Hing powder(sweet/salty/sour dried plum). The patchouli and the orange really give off a nice sweet, creamy, zesty, and slightly earthy smell to it. I get some vanilla too, but it's way more earthy than just a creamsicle description. If I were to make this into a food, it would be a Shaved Ice with orange and li-hing syrup, topped with some vanilla sweetened condensed milk.

Performance is very good for me, I get about 8-10 hours of longevity on my skin, which usually holds a fragrance well, so performance on others may not be quite as good. It also has decent projection, with a solid 2-3 ft bubble for the first couple hours, before it settles down to more of a close quarter scent. This is definitely something that could be worn year round, and I could see this being the perfect winter scent for places that don't get too cold. Can't wait to give Kryptomint a try, because the consensus seems to be that it's pretty much an Ultra Zest flanker.

@36thDisciple - Hull City? How can hate the Tigers?!? Lol!!!

Great scent, longevity, character. Mugler line is full of winners for me!

Iki Rizki

Like the name its so Zesty ... also sweet.
you can't go wrong with this fragrance. Love it.
9/10 for me. Thanks all

kenconcepcion33

I blind buy this one.. First smell I'm lil bit disappointed, not close to my expectation but after few hour the dry down really2 good.. Love this one.. Not to sweet, warm, fresh..

36thDisciple

I really wanted to HATE this fragrance. I hate everything orange! Dutch people, carrots, egomaniacal man-babies, Hull City... I went to try it in-store for the first time today, just so I could hatebate all over it with my hatepaste!

Yet.. it smelled so sweet. What a gem this fragrance is. What an honour it was to experience it. What an unequivocal 'tour de force'! I was whisked away to a field of daisies and daffodils on a picturesque spring day.. where my imaginary love Padmilla and I dashed towards each other in slow-motion.

I am not worthy.

Joemoose13

There's not much I can say that hasn't been said before. Blood orange and tangerine literally bursting out of the bottle, Ultra Zest truly has an amazing opening. Unfortunately, that mouth watering citrus opening leaves within 45 minutes to 1 hour, which gets replaced with patchouli, vanilla, coffee and cinnamon. It has an almost gourmand-ish dry down, but it's still suited very well for the spring and summer months, even early fall.

Performance is respectable, longevity is probably at the 7-8 hour mark, projection is fairly weak, definitely a skin scent around the 2-3 hour mark. The sillage is quite weak after the initial citrus wave but I have gotten a lot of compliments from both sexes and I had a coworker love it so much he bought himself a bottle. This is very wearable, extremely casual. Great for relaxing in the heat (indoors or outdoors), hanging out with friends and I would even say it's pretty good for clubbing during the summer nights.

Overall: 7.5/10. Even with it's respectable score, it's still one of my favorite spring/ summer scents which I reach for a lot.

Edit March 6th: I've worn this a few times since my review and I must admit my performance review was no quite up to par. I can probably get 10-12 hours of longevity, sillage and projection stays the same, the skin scent lasts a while.

@ HurAcraft

Nice to know it isn't just my box and bottle that have non matching batch codes. Like you said it's probably nothing to worry about, but since it was the first time for me I wanted to hear what Mugler had to say.

Recently I have also contacted three stores in different countries in Europe with Ultra Zest in stock and all of them have the same batch code on the box: 514293A. This is a little weird though, because first: it's an older batch than 0511*** and second: two of these stores didn't have Ultra Zest in stock a couple of months ago.

Where did they get their hands on this older batch of a limited and discontinued fragrance???

Pure Tonka I literally have to scrub off, otherwise the scent won't go away. So far I have a roller coaster relationship with Pure Tonka, sometimes it's comforting and others it's cloying, but I totally agree that if Ultra Zest had that kind of performance I would stock up before it's gone. Fantastic scent!

HurAcraft

@ danielbas

Yeah I have the very same batch codes. 514293A on the box and 0514293 on the bottle. My pure havane has two different batch codes aswell, my PM and PT do not. Just like ultra zest my pure havane did register on mugler circle and the batch code related to november 2015 I believe.

Maybe the differing batch codes on the box and bottle, had something to do with them messing up package production in that time period (april). Having to reproduce new proper packaging then added the letter A behind the batch code on the new packaging to indentify it as such.

Like you mentioned, I also did some digging and people that did a review on it in feb/march/april of 2015 also claim they get 8-10ish hours. At the time of those reviews it was impossible to have a november batch of Ultra Zest.

Maybe longevity is exaggerated by people. Whatever it is just spray some extra sprays to make up for it. If this had the performance of pure tonka or pure malt it would be beyond amazing.

danielbas

@HurAcraft and Chazas:

I have exactly the same experience as you. I recently blind bought Ultra Zest and my bottle is also from an April 2015 batch. It lacks very much in performance compared to my other A*Men fragrances (PM, PH and PT). The weird thing is though, that the batch code on the box and bottle doesn’t match. It is similar, 514293A on the box and 0514293 on the bottle. It wasn’t readable on the bottle because the engraving is super thin and shallow (unlike my other A*Men fragrances) but with a pencil and then a rubber I managed to make it visible. Non matching codes has never happened to me before so I contacted Mugler about it. They wanted to know the store in which I purchased it and after giving them that information they answered that it was an unauthorized stockist and therefor couldn’t help me further.

The code inside the box for the Mugler circle is legit and the box and bottle are without doubt the real thing. I also find it hard to believe that Ultra Zest would be a target for the faking industry. But it is weird how people have so different opinions about the performance of this fragrance. Even before November 2015 (when batches with code 0511*** wouldn’t have been available) the comments here and elsewhere differ very much, some saying it’s a beast and others it’s very weak.

I love the scent while it lasts, though!

Chazas

Batch of "0514293" April 2015 seem to lack in performance compared to other Muglers I have, Pure Havane, Pure Malt, Pure Tonka and original A*MEN.

There seem to be a two batches of Ultra Zest, at least what I have found. Probably the first release of batches is April 2015 with batch 5*****A or 514**** and the later one from November 2015 with batch that starts 0511***. All of those later batches have an amazing performance, which is strange.

Scent wise, the opening and dry-down is super energetic and uplifting, love it absolutely. A new very fresh citrusy vanilla orange vibe with a touch of minty ginger and this DNA of spicy fruits, gourmand coffee and burnt pie from original A*men and Pure Malt.

HurAcraft

Scent is nice.. orange/citrusy and smooth. Bit sweet too.

However performance is garbage on me... everyone talking about 8-12 hours. Well I get 1-2 hours at best, after that its gone? Not talking about the citrus aspect, the entire scent is gone after 1-2 hours.

Mine came sealed with offical mugler seal and the mugler circle invitation thing. Also has a legit unique code inside the box (it registered online) and the batch code relates to april 2015. Meaning my bottle cant be a fake?.

I dont know... Really like the smell but it lasting literally 1-2 hours is ridiculous. For reference even the new form la nuit de scented water lasts 5ish hours on me. Pure tonka 16-18 hours, PM 8-10ish and PH 6-8 hrs.

Find it hard to believe people get 10ish hours. If other frags didnt hold on my skin aswell yeah I'd believe it. Maybe my bottle has gone bad... due to not being stored properly. Seems unlikely since it was sealed.

Something is off here.

FatFragHead

1/27/16 - This is a good Mugler fragrance. I think it could be unisex with slight more nod to masc, however I love the blast of orange peel and zest. If only it would last longer. This fragrance becomes Amen in about 20 minutes and has moderate projection and longevity. If it had the lasting power and beast mode projection as the original with a lingering zest it would be the new king. I don't agree that this is a spin of Pure Malt. This has it's own character and actually is one of the most distinctive in the entire lineup. All season appropriate IMO. I wished this would be redone in an EDP. I do recommend and will buy another bottle as a backup.

cbnnexus

This has a very surprising and delicious orange top and heart. I'm actually quite amazed that they pulled off a spring/summer/all season frag from an A*Men base. However, the base IS A*Men, with hints of the top and heart, so the dry-down is fairly typical of A*Men frags. It's impressive, but I'm not sure I can wear this (or any other A*Men frag) as a signature just because it is so, so sweet and gourmand on drydown. While it is delicious and fresh in the open and the heart, it just isn't suited to every environment. Which is fine. It's still some mighty fine juice.

MikeL11

Amazing fragrance. So incredibly uplifting and vibrant. It develops really really well and has fantastic performance. Great compliments as well. This and pure malt are my favourite from Thierry Mugler.

9.2/10

strut

Well.. if there is a parfume that I love more then a*men is this one. This is my signature - sweet, vibrant, covering many moods and making all just better - ultra zest.. mmm..
This scent evokes real feelings of joy and happiness in me.
The opening is ginger, honey lemon mandarin caramel and soft cinnamon yamminnes that jumps on you while the blood orange is covering all that joy with a bit darker vibe. After a minute there is a surprise with a shadow of aquatic and little bit salty notes, as if 'bulgari aqau' got invitation for a small dance with ginger mandarin caramel lollipop.. the aquatic notes come and go and make you wandering if you smelled them or just imagined, until you smell it again.
A*men DNA is there but it never becomes a*men, it has different opening and different dry down. a*men is more prominent in the middle after an hour or so, and when the perfume is got suddenly warmer on skin.
In the drydown the scent is soft ginger and mandarin with patchouli and honey but not so sweet. The dry down is a fresh and rich smell- amazing! and if the skin gets warmer in a cold environment the angel tar note jumps for a visit.
This fragrance is a poem, a beautiful story with rich and intelligent plot.
Longivety is moderate - after 4-5 hours needs to be reapplied for a projection, if not it becomes close skin scent but do remind my nose here and there that i wear it.
Projection is for 3-4 hours, depends on how much is applied. It is weaker then a*men almost by half as it is more fresh and less heavy.
Goes for winter as for summer and behaves differently with different temperatures- love to wear it all year around.

KentB27

I love this fragrance. The citrus is amazing, it's almost like a sorbet or orange creamsicle smell. The vanilla and cinnamon tie in nicely as well and it dries down into the typical A*Men drydown but with subtle differences.

Holy crap though, does this stuff perform. It projects very well, lasts 8-10 hours or more and it will get you noticed....in a good way. I get more positive reactions from females out of this one than almost any other fragrance I own. I was out clubbing and a girl said to me "what are you wearing? Whatever that is you better keep wearing it, you smell amazing". It's a super playful scent, it's unique, and it's great for clubs because it stands out from the everyman aquatic fragrances so many guys wear.

One caveat though. I do not think this is a good summer fragrance and I disagree with everyone who says it is. It's cloying in hot weather like every pretty much every A*Men fragrance is. This is a spring and fall fragrance and honestly once it dries down it's even ok in winter. If you're a Thierry Mugler fan you'd be crazy to not pick this one up. It just might be the best A*Men flanker.

korahk23.1

This is a summer fragrance with a difference!

While it certainly has a citrus vibe to it, its very different from the usual ones. I just don't know how to explain it. Forgive me if i am wrong but i almost get a gourmand feel with this fragrance.

Definitely one for my spring and summer rotation.

An 8.5 on 10 for me.

Lovestosmell7

I love citrus and most fragrances but this one i am not sure yet. It reminded me of the Flintstones vitamins i had as a kid. It is to chalky for my taste. It probably is not bad smelling if it is on someone but i would not be able to wear this all day. Vince camuto solare is like it without the chalk smell

Chiep07

im a fan of regular A*men. at top note, Ultra zest smells more lemony than orange to me, then it turns to original A*men at the dry down with just a really small hint of orange that almost not detectable. Still like it, worth to keep as collection.

overall rate from me 7.5 out of 10.

i hope than Mugler will make an A*men with Oud version, and perhaps the odu note can be detected till the dry down. Ive always layer the original A*men with Oud fragrance oil etc al-Haramain Black Oud. It blend very well..

Shawnnick

Recieved for christmas, absolutely love it from the zesty mandarin and ginger opening to a tamed a men dry down.Performs well been projecting for around five hours now

miles178

don´t like it, too chemical, synthetic orange vibe ... nothing more ....
even the basenotes aren´t anything that i like or am attracted to ....
not a fan of Mugler house at all

fireknight_energy

DAMN this is fresh, when you wear it, it makes you healthier. When you do your smoothie, just mix greph with lemon and orange plus just add a little mint and wash you face, after that spray this on your neck. You smell like SPRING and you feel like the WAR GOD ARES after he gone Hippie.

dimsal

This fragrance is like warmed up A*men served with zesty oranges. While the opening offers a blast of refreshing citrus, the signature A*men "muglernade" (thanks to smellavision's review for the funny term) of vanilla-coffe-patchouli-tonka provides the strong, ever present mildly sweet and aromatic powdery base. Not bad and pretty unique relative to non-Mugler offerings, but I'm not a fan of A*men in the first place so my decant will stay in my collection almost untouched.

Ignas39

Ultra Zest is not just another fresh fragrance, it is quite unique as the scent, even though citrusy, is still somewhat heavy (because of it's A*Men DNA). That is why I think it fits best for the spring time, when it's starting to get warm, but not too hot. High summer heat could potentially make it cloying (haven't tried it in the summer yet). It is a long-lasting, lovely fragrance that many would enjoy. I recommend getting this while you still can as it's price will most likely go higher and higher, as it is a limited edition. I wish Mugler decided continue making it like they did with Pure Malt.

Vlud

Ultra Zest is a citrusy scent with a great gourmand backbone.

Opens up with a blast of oranges that is really mouth-watering and authentic. The patchouli-vanilla-coffee has the typical A*Men DNA and adds depth and complexity as well as providing a full, rich feel. This is not your usual thin, airy summer citrus.

A great blend, Mugler really did a very good job in creating a long-lasting rich citrus fragrance.

Good performance!

sarito84

Was limited edition now discontinued but stil available in places, bought one in debenhams last week.

Your arsenal

Could be pure malt sport? Solid performer and very good feedback. Orange Creamsicle on full blast!!!

milancelisac

This one's as beautiful as its double Paco Rabanne's Ultrared Man

takeitupthenose

Not getting the projection people speak of; however, very impressed. Got it for $40 always a great price to add a Mugler. Love the bright orange bottle, the bright orange opening and the subtle gourmandish dry down. Nothing to complain about and a great one for a collection item.

jlmajcher

The smell of the sillage is just like Clinique's Happy although up close one will get more of the grapefruit but still if you like orange scents, this one is for you. Where Happy is very linear and does not do much in the dry down Ultra Zest becomes an orange creamsicle with the vanilla and tonka bean however at that point it is not much more than a skin scent. It smells great layered with pure chili.

apostol.sebastian

Thierry Mugler Ultra Zest has a very distinctive citric-spicy smell.I get from this some whiskey-coffee and squeezed blood orange notes.Best Thierry Mugler flanker after Pure Malt, easily(at least for me).On skin, I get about 8h of longevity and medium projection(about an arm length).Sprayed on clothes lasts all day long.

9/10

MrHonest

Pow!

Orange in-yo-face!

Yep. Smellavision has it exactly right. I second.

Been testing this one for a couple days now and noticed that on my skin, the famous slightly synthetic orangy top note doesn't last as long as I would like - 3 hours tops. But still, it's a good 3 hours. Fresh, but warm too. You'll know what I mean when you smell it.

And for those guys looking to blind buy...be aware that the drydown is quite similar to the original A*Men, without the chocolatey-ness, or the potency. The orange is also more of a candy orange and not the natural stuff you would get with Dior Homme Cologne.

Still, if you don't have any A*Men frags, I would recommend that you get Pure Malt first, then this one. Both are more versatile than the original. Plus, this one is more TANGY than zesty.

Imagine: It's a warm (but not hot) spring day at the carnival. You're holding an orange creamsicle, but find that you'd rather be watching the women than eating it. In your absent-mindedness, the dessert is beginning to melt onto your hand and forearm. Great. Just another sweet, sticky predicament. But wait...this predicament smells gooood....mmmmm

Think: Smooth, Sweet, Tangy, Orangy Goodness

Overall: 8/10 - Good, but less original than expected.

smellavision

Opening with a terrific blood orange and tangerine blast this is quite a different take on the earlier A-Men versions that mainly focus on the warmer sweeter territories. This blood orange is sweet, but not as synthetically sweet as i.e. Rabannes cloying Ultrared for Men. Of course, you get the classic TM patchouli/vanilla and a hint of coffee drydown as in most A-Men varieties (the Mugliernade ??) but this was probably to be expected.

I see it as a warmer weather scent, but could also be refreshing in colder temps perhaps ? Unfortunately, the blood orange zestiness disappears within an hour, I would really love this to have continued throughout the drydown for some more freshness. Also I find the overall longevity of, say, Pure Malt to be better than this one, but that could be caused by the citrus elements that often fade out before other elements.

Overall - fresh and enjoyable but nothing groundbreaking.

micrtin

This is a great scent, well done, original. To me it is very potent and long lasting.
BUT: during the first two hours, it projects very well, very orange, but I kept asking myself: do i really want to smell like this? It seems very unisex, and maybe feminine. I dont get any masculin, musky notes whatsoever. I dont typically wear a fragrance for its comliment factor, but a line must be drawn somewhere. I do like this scent, but I dont like that someone would smell this on me... if this makes any sense.
after 2-3 hours has an awesome A*men type drydown which was quite a nice suprise, very well done in that area.
But overall, I will stick with my other 10 A*men flankers and take a pass on this one, a little too unisex. I tested it alongside Terre d'Hermes ( which also has kind of orange note) and way preferred the Hermes, and it a very masculin scent which i enjoy

james.roberson

Great frag love it the only two i use are pure havane and ultra zest but this one was great in stl but cannot wear this in the summer days or nights here in Dallas Tx just too hot triple digit days all summer then high 90's /80's at night so both ph and uz are only used in winter down here but i still love em both and always smell so good in the winter.

Joeyvice

Warm, citrusy, sweet, goodness. This stuff is addictive, and totally worth the price. If you wear this on a cold winter night, you can pretty much walk around in a cloud of summer.

chbad

By the way, Ultrazest is being sold on the Mugler website again as of checking today, 8/27/16. Perhaps this means Mugler has brought it back, though it's still listed as limited addition.

However I can't see Mugler permanently getting rid of this fragrance. It's a fantastic spring/summer alternative to the line's traditional colder weather focus. I'm a huge fan of the amen dna. I actually place the original amen and pure malt over Ultrazest, but UZ is my third favorite of the line.

The blood orange is so juicy in this one. The perfect description of this one really is "orange cream sickle" because of the amen dna paired with the delicious blood orange. It's upbeat, crowd pleasing, and something different from the traditioal "Aqua " fragrances of the summer months. I really enjoyed wearing it this last summer!!

shorkable

I bought this fragrance in the early summer without even thinking about it, as I needed a new summer fragrance. Not the best decision. Don't get me wrong - this juice is amazing, just not in the hot summer days. The top notes are too thick to be worn in the hot weather in my opinion. They seem to be intended for the spring time. Although the fragrance does not smell amazing for the first hours in the spring/fall either, it gets amazing after 4-5 hours. It reminds me of a smooth summer evening with your significant other on a beach promenade. Definate vanilla and coffee combo. Simply gorgeous.

Longevity is excellent for a fruity scent - lasts about 8-10 hours (sometimes more) on my skin.

As I have experienced, girls like but do NOT LOVE this fragrance.

warlockss

This is an edited review as I was too quick to review. This smells amazing and orange zesty and sweet for the first 15 minutes the drydown however doesn't remain the same . Drydown turns into pure malt. Turns gourmand and powdery . I'm wearing this in cold weather and it became a little too cloying and annoying . It's very powerfull I thought I'd go about 2 sprays on neck and 2 to 3 sprays on shirt and damn i was projecting beast mode . This wouldnt go too well in the summertime heat at all but if you do go very light on the sprays.
I would probably by another bottle but I doubt it .

Rating for me 7 out of 10 .

This perfume is better than my expectation. The top note is very nice. Balance of Sweet and sour. Dry down is A*Men. I do not think that I will like this perfume but since first minutes of use this perfume. I love it.

Such an amazing dry down.

- Good scent and different, but overrated by
YouTube reviewers

- The dominating notes here orange + vanilla
- Reminds me of orange ice-cream

Blind Buy.
I was not sure if the Mugler DNA would blend well with a creamsicle pop but WHAM-O I love this juice!

Delicious in every way! (Thankfully I cannot smell the cinnamon -- as another Fragrentica poster said "Cinnamon should be left out of fragrances altogether". I agree)

The spice, tobacco and the orange compliment each other so very well.
This may be my favorite flanker in the A*Men line!

Longevity seems very good too!
GREAT FOR SUMMER ! A happy smell!
I would safely deem this unisex too.

Thinking about a back-up bottle and I just got this 15 minutes ago!
------------UPDATE------------
Just bought a back up bottle after only living with Ultra Zest for a week!
I'm loving this a lot.

Fraghead84

I don't really know what to say about Ultra Zest. Yes, it's very zesty but I think it's kinda...MEH! I really want to like this flanker but at the moment, it's nothing special and I think that there is way better summer scents out there. Maybe it just needs time but now I don't consider it as a masterpiece. And the drydown is almost exactly the same as Pure Havane and Pure Malt. I will give this a 7/10 rating as of now.

TheSeanPaul

Lovely, one of my favorites. The opening is a bomb of orange and tangerine that is just so appealing. My Gf and many other women I have had smell this on me just love it. Compliment getter for sure. The scent is a orange cream bomb of sexy seductiveness, my gf actually made me spray a shirt of mine a few times and took it because she wanted to keep smelling it and was sad that it finally went away after about a week and a half. The scent for me is very long lasting, I can smell it a good foot from my arm even after a long work day. The smell is smooth and fresh, it may not be the best for high heat but it can be worn in summer nights or even in a cooler summer day. Great scent and you should get it before its gone.

Overall - 9.125 out of 10

Scent - 9 out of 10
Projection - 9.5 out of 10
Sillage - 8 out of 10
Longevity - 10 out of 10

Compliments...compliments...
I prefer Pure Havane and Pure Malt... but I can't argue with the compliments!

Center

When I was in high school my grandfather gave me a bottle of Alfred Dunhill Desire, which if you've ever smelled it, is not a very youthful scent. I wore it a few times, and it was always way too much, even though it smelled pleasant and even intriguing.

That smell was a citrusy, patchouli, vanilla smell that I'd forgotten -- until I got a whiff of this! This is a more energetic, young, and accessible version. I like it - not enough to buy a full bottle - but I like it. It lacks versatility. I'd wear this on date night during the fall, but would be hard-pressed to spray it otherwise.

Lmuradian

So this scent is very interesting in the aspect of its the orange patchouli vanilla scent but I say that in the most highest compliments. The projection is pretty good for this like most Angle men fragrances. Once it dries down its pretty close to how the middle notes are listed. It's been discontinued but still a gorgeous yet unique scent with the DNA of the original AMEN but I prefer this and also pure malt.

Scent 9/10
Longevity 7/10
Sillage 7/10

Anast

Firstly i got a compination of coffe and orange, after 30min got the typical mugler scent that is unfashionable and boring

ahsif

Just a lovely scent. Got the most compliment when i wore it during Autumn.
i do wear it in the Tropical summers of Malaysia but i feel it does not project as much as I would like it to. it does become very close to skin scent by the 4th hour. one of my favorites it terms of the smell from Thierry Mugler! if you are from one of the warmer countries and still love Thierry Mugler, i could say this should be your blind buy!

Raidersteveo

By far my best purchase of 2015 (along with ADG Profumo). I agree with the comparisons to Pure Malt as this is basically the same thing with some citrus top notes. Once they dissipate your are left with Pure Malt which to me smells like a mix of caramel and fruity malt. Projection is moderate and longevity is a good 6 or 8 hours which for me is exceptional.

Well done Mr Mugler. You gave me something to grace my top shelf.

ozzypb

I really don't know why are so many bad opinions about this fragrance. Why don't you want to smell like Pure Malt but in a more fresher and casual way all day long? I think this fragrance is amazing.

ironmancb

My first review...this is a go to summer scent! very bold and I love the longevity of Zest! if this is discontinued I will grab a few more...one will be left my for my boys LOL

BeeZo875

Love this Pure Zest.. I wear this strictly for me. I've never received a compliment wearing this.. Wife hates it. It definitely projects well and it's unique. I got a back up bottle.. Not a lady killer for me but it's still quality juice.. 2 thumbs up.

My country went on sale in Turkey after 1 month. 212 Turkish lira (73 dollars - 64 euros) bought. There are a persistent smell terrific. tangerine and smell the coffee my nose constantly. :) option compared to like the smell of citrus. I skinned wheat. She suits me a lot. Thierry Mugler 'i am very appreciated. Anyone in my place of work is attracting attention. 3. This is my signature fragrance. Ultra Zest current favorite perfume. spring, summer, in the autumn; available day and night. but if you're in a hot city like Izmir think of using in the warm 35 degrees. Can a little uncomfortable smell of fruit.

i hate it, i expected much more from it. just 2 minutes of orange in the opening, then = classic A-men shitty nauseatic headache smell ... they didn´t came with anything new after 20 years ... huge disappointment

It smells good. Very clear juicy orange/tangerine then the gourmand tonka comes out as it dries. Although it's a nice fragrance there is no masculine component to it. Within an hour you smell like vanilla and oranges. I like gourmand but it needs more substance because it leaves me smelling like dessert.

why dicontinued this gem MR MUGLER......

Neo Ramaphoko

It was rated number 1 in 2015 , what a masterpiece , TM , I really don't know what to say to you but big ups for the good job and I pray that you release more of powerhouse zest permanently.

I enjoyed this when it first came out but seldom wear it anymore. I don't see it as a summer fragrance at all, it is just to heavy for summer. I rarely reach for it in colder weather because there are so many frags I would rather have on. This to me is more of a fall evening fragarance.
Its a good scent, the opening citrus is a bit pungent but it drys down into a nice warm typical angel men tonka and vanilla base.

This is great for summer! No worries!
Just not for extreme heat :)

Would this be suitable for summer given the fact that is an a*men flanker I like the original a*men but it is too strong for anything but winter, would this cut trough the summer?

From Fairy Tales to Folklores, I always have associated "Day" as the Time of Angels and "Night" for Demons.
So, my basic question always was, Why TM’s Angels (read A*Men) are more for Night?
This is TM’s answer to my question. Ultra Zest is the Angel of The Day.

Ultra Zest starts straightway from the sweetest and zestiest citruses (definitely Blood Orange and Tangerine). Zesty enough to tickle my nose. Quickly softened by a creamy coffee note. After 10 minutes the zestiness lifts up and a smooth vanilla adds up, pushing the perfume to a more “gourmand” territory. The whole interpretation somehow reminds me of Freshly Baked Lemon Pies.

Okk, this is not the end of the story, though the zestiness gives away, the sweet citruses always remain. With time there appears an underlying bitter note, like over squeezing a citrus, adding more layers to this perfume. This bitter citrus remains till the end, beneath a prominent vanilla-coffee note.

The citruses in Ultra Zest have many faces. Zesty, then Sweet and lastly Bitter. True Masterpiece.

Very "zesty". For like first 10 minutes :DDD. Than it dries down to lighter and much more pleasant version of original A*Man.

I totally love the opening and if it lasted for the entire lengh of the fragrance, I would give it 9/10 for a smell.

The drydown is nice and pleasent but not really awesome.

The performance and sillage seem to be excelent. One spray on my hand lasts forever :-)

Overall, Ultra Zest is rather nice fragrance but not really to the point that I would go out and buy it.

Ratings:

Smell: 7/10 (9/10 first 10 minutes)
Longevity and projection: 8.5/10
Bottle presentation: 7/10 (really cool with decent prayer),
Overall rating: 7/10

The best Orange smell i Have ever smelled :))) I love all A Muglers scents and this one is not different.
Exclusive Red orange and tangerine with well blended hint of Patchouli and coffe, Only Mugler can do this right and I thank him for this masterpiece.

Worth to buy not only because of its name, But there is no much better scent like this one of this kind

10/10

First of all, this is a super scent! THe first time i smelled it i was like: "that's awesome how they put oranges and tangerines on a very masculine and warm scent". I smelled some months later and then i was like: "Too much citrus. not a fan of this". Third time i smelled i thought "OMG this is THE best spring and summer scent!", and then i got a bottle.

This starts with a blast of blood orange and tangerine in your face. Its like someone is eating and splashing the juice on your nose. But then it starts to calm down a bit and the warm and zesty vibe starts with the vanilla, coffee and patchouli combo helping this fragrance to make it more special and unique. I can see me eating a ice cream on the beach, or just relaxing under a orange tree in a warm day.

In terms of longevity, it's a long lasting for a eau de toilette (7+ hours) and it projects in the first 2 hours.

It's very versatile because of the depth of the A*Men base for the winter/fall and the juiciness of the orange for the summer/spring.

Scent: 9/10 (it's not a 10/10 because of the opening a little bit too juicy for my personal taste)
Longevity: 8/10
Projection: 8/10
Versatility: 10/10
Overall: 9/10

A must buy for spring/summer, especially.

Unique. Intriguing. Accurate blood orange scent blended well with Patchouli and smoothly rounded off with vanilla in the drydown. Not tart relative to all the other scents that contain citrus. The Coffee, Patch, Vanilla create a smoothness immediately following that Blood Orange that gives what people have called this an orange creamsicle accord - this also unsticks this from being categorized as a straight citrus or fruity or sweet scent. Very versatile - as with other A*men frags, this reminds you of the others but is different enough to at least try. I am surprised and disappointed at the projection and longevity on the skin (on clothes, it lasts longer of course). On the skin this dissolves after 2, maybe 3 hours. This is both good and bad; as a summer frag, this is good. It will not be overbearing in the heat and the sillage will be there long enough to have a nice trail without inducing headaches. On the downside - because of its versatility, you would expect this to perform as it were a Pure Malt but it does not last the same so theres a good chance it leaves you cold when you are out in the colder weather. This is such an intriguing scent that I want to spray more but still it will project well only for the first 2-3 hours before losing its 'zest'. The dry down is wonderful but unfortunately at that point it is at its faintest.

I tested few days ago and today i finally buy it! Very good scent with a strong fruity, juicy opener, and the drydown is amazing, more soft, with vaniila. Perfect for summer nights, or all ocasions to be honest.
Annnd the longevity seems to be amazing so far.

I finally got this at a more decent price and wearing it for the first time, and I would almost say it will become one of my favorites from my collection of Angel Men, and I am just missing a few of them. I've seen some dislikes and hate reviews here, but I don't know what are they talking about, this is an awesome flanker, and almost a new aroma, and totally wearable in the Summer but you can enjoy it at any season IMO, the notes are nicely blended and well chosen. I am just loving it. Now I just need to find out how it will perform in a hot summer day.
Well Pure Tonka is next to try, and is waiting in my top shelf. :-)

Update:
This is a longevity blast, it's been 14 hrs since I sprayed it on and is still there very noticeable, mostly on my chest than in my wrists, but I gotta said I did over sprayed it to see how would it worked that way, it was just awesome, complements came right on, noticeable but not overwhelming, and I kept sniffing myself, it has an almost edible smell in the first 2 to 3 hrs. Totally worth it buying it, and I am thinking to restock on it already. ;-)

My husband wears this fragrance and I think it's the sexiest scent I have ever smelled on him. I bought him a backup bottle just in case...

I_Like_Sand

Great stuff! Not as orange-y and zesty as I had hoped but very good nonetheless. After an hour or so it becomes quite similar to pure malt, just a bit more mild and citrusy. The drydown is rather similar to the original A*men but a little more pleasant.
In my opinion this is definitely one of the best and most versatile flankers of the original.

Hdubais

Very descriptive name for the scent

Celeria

Does anybody smell a bit of Terre d'Hermès in it ?

Edit : Only in the first very hour of application , I get the same citrus vibe in Terre d'Hermès , then it becomes more fruity and "young" , when Terre d'Hermès remains very dry and austere.

MetalMan

The actual scent isn't half bad - I do feel it is the most lackluster of all renditions and flankers, but it isn't bad. The orange used to accentuate the original's DNA is a very sweet and juicy one - almost mouth watering if you inhale deeply enough. This is really the only true variation from the original - once the new top dries off, you're left with a slightly spiced coffee & patchouli combo that is quite potent and durable. I don't feel like this presents well in heat either - I was experiencing rather powerful wafts (only one spray on each wrist and three on my chest) in 67°F weather and it was a bit much, even though it lacked the original's tar note. There is also a strong woody presence that is similar to that of Pure Shot even though it isn't listed. So, a decent fume that should be left alone unless it's a grey or rainy day and you must love citrus and patchouli!

Smells super original in the opening, starts becoming a lighter Pure Malt in the middle. I could see this being a spring scent but personally I wouldn't wear it in the summer because it gets quite thick quickly after the opening (on me). Definitely has the A Men DNA though :)

SybrenZandstra

I only paid 8 euros for this at the general store, still can't believe it! It's devenitely worth more since it has the sweetest orange smell on earth. So zesty..I love it!
