Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts: Seamus Finnegan und Willa Alden lieben sich, und doch haben sie sich seit acht Jahren nicht mehr gesehen. Damals ist Willa bei einer Bergtour gestürzt; ein Bein musste ihr amputiert werden. Seitdem lebt sie in Asien und hat keinerlei Kontakt zu ihrer Familie. Doch als ihr Vater im Sterben liegt, kommt sie nach London zurück und begegnet Seamus wieder. Der ist inzwischen mit Jennie verheiratet, beginnt aber dennoch eine Affäre mit Willa. Doch die beiden müssen sich wieder trennen, und dann bricht der Erste Weltkrieg aus…

Es fiel mir bei diesem Buch richtig schwer, eine kurze Inhaltsangabe zu schreiben, denn in diesem Roman passiert so unglaublich viel, dass man den Inhalt in wenigen Sätzen eigentlich gar nicht wiedergeben kann. In erster Linie geht es natürlich um Seamus und Willa, aber auch Jennie, Fiona, India, Max, usw. spielen hier eine entscheidende Rolle!
Denjenigen, die bereits die zwei früheren Bücher der Rosentrilogie gelesen haben, sind viele der Figuren schon bekannt. Ich kenne leider die Vorgänger der „Wildrose“ noch nicht, aber ich hatte dennoch keinerlei Probleme, der Handlung zu folgen.
Die Autorin erklärt recht ausführlich, was zuvor geschehen ist, so dass man auch ohne Vorwissen seine Freude an diesem Buch haben kann und wird! Der Roman hat zwar über 700 Seiten, aber es passiert auch so unglaublich viel, dass die Seiten sich wie von selbst „weglesen“ lassen.
Langweilige Kapitel gibt es in diesem dicken Buch keine. Im Gegenteil; man mag das Buch gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen, weil die Geschichte so spannend ist.
Die Kapitel erzählen auch immer abwechselnd von anderen Personen. Mal ist Seamus die Hauptfigur, dann geht es wieder um Willa, dann um Max… Dieser ständige Wechsel trägt sicherlich auch dazu bei, dass man beim Lesen gar nicht merkt, wie die Zeit vergeht.
Es passiert immer etwas Neues. Die Geschichte spielt zum Teil im Ersten Weltkrieg, was für mich besonders interessant zu lesen war! Die Autorin hat sehr gut recherchiert; das ganze Buch macht einen durchdachten und intelligenten Eindruck!
Ich habe jetzt richtig Lust bekommen, auch die „Teerose“ und die „Winterrose“ zu lesen!

Χάρηκα που ξανασυνάντησα τους παλιούς μου φίλους, την Φιόνα, τον Τζο και τον Σέιμι και που έμαθα νέα για τους αγαπημένους μου Ίντια και Μαλλόουν. Όμως, αυτό το βιβλίο στάθηκε κατώτερο της τριλογίας και των προσδοκιών μου. Είχε πολλές πολλές… ατέλειωτες αδιάφορες σελίδες, σελίδες που δεν γινόταν τίποτα που απλώς κουβέντιαζαν ή θυμόντουσαν ή έλεγαν τι υποθέτουν ότι θα συμβεί ήηηη ξέρω κ εγώ τι; Άμα το βιβλίο είχε 150 σελίδες λιγότερες (ναι, κάπου τόσες δεν υπερβάλλω) η ιστορία πάλι θα ήταν ολόκληρη και χωρίς παραλήψεις αλλά με λιγότερη περιττή λογοδιάρροια χωρίς λόγο από την συγγραφέα.
Επίσης τι στο καλό τρέχει με την Γουίλα; Πόσα ψυχολογικά κουβαλάει; Όχι, δεν την συμπάθησα ούτε στιγμή… πουφ! Μετά από Φιόνα και Ίντια, η Ντόνελλι σκέφτηκε να πλάσει την Γούιλα; Μα την Γουιλα;;;;

I hated just about every character in this book. But I especially disliked Willa; selfish, reactionary, overly dramatic, self-destructive, stupid Willa. When she and Seamie started their adulterous affair, I hated him too. In fact, I kind of hoped that one of the other or both would just die and let me finish the book in peace, maybe with the focus on Sid and India's military rehabilitation hospital, or on Katie's overly ambitious personal goals. But no. Spoiler Alert: they didn't die. They kept living. And annoying me with their insistence that there is only one person in the whole world who you could possibly love and if you can't have that person, then, you will never, ever, not in a million years, be happy.
I love characters with fantastic weaknesses, but they also have to have some strengths. And I'm not talking about being great explorers or mountain climbers or photographers. There has to be something I can hold onto and identify with. But there was nothing. It was the drug use that put me over the top. I know it's a disease, but if I had any shred of respect left for Willa, it was shattered with her stupid, selfish, whiny addiction.
When I finished reading, I realized that with all its over-the-top dramatics and fabulously unrealistic scenarios, I'd just read a soap opera. That's what this book was. Not that the other books in the series weren't soap operas. It's just that with this particular one, I loathed the main characters.
By the way Willa, none of this would have happened if you wouldn't have freaked out in Nairobi.

Loved the story. Although it was my least favorite of the three. Don't really know why... But fabulous story-telling by Ms Donnelly once again. :)

I kind of knew that I wasn't going to like this book after I finished reading the second book in the series, The Winter Rose. You, the Rose Trilogy follows the lives of the Finnegan Siblings, Fiona, Sid and Seamie. I loved Fiona and Sid. Seamie not as much and Willa, his love interest, really not at all. That's the major problem with this book. Seamie and Willa are just not as likable as Fiona and Joe and Sid and India. Unlike the first two couples, Seamie and Willa are priviledge. They were educated in the best schools in the US and England. They pretty much did what they wanted, so sorry if I don't feel sorry for them. They both spend the entire feeling sorry for themselves because they can't be with each other for whatever reason. We get it. You love each other but you are also not with each other because of the poor decisions they have both made. It's their own fault and no one else's. It was just frustrating to read. The only saving grace of this book is the appearances of Fiona, Joe, Sid and India. They are the bright shiny stars of this novel but as much as it's the strength it's also the weakness. It just points out how weak Seamie and Willa are. I would often find myself wanting to hurry over Seamie's and Willa's chapters to get back to Fiona and Joe or Sid and India.
So I was disappointed. This was the final book and the series and I wish it wasn't. It left me unsatified that it had to end on such a weak note after the first two were so strong. The book is really a 2 star book but I'm giving it 3 stars for Fiona, Joe, Sid and India because I love them and I loved their stories.

Αν μπορούσα να περιγράψω με μια λέξη το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο αυτό θα ήταν απογοήτευση! Αν και έχουν περάσει αρκετά χρόνια από όταν πρωτο διάβασα τα δύο πρώτα βιβλία της τριλογίας ακόμα θυμάμαι με κάθε λεπτομέρεια κάθε συναίσθημα που μου άφησαν. Δυστυχώς αυτό δε το βρήκα στο "Άγριο Τριαντάφυλλο".
Βρισκόμαστε οχτώ χρονιά μετά τα γεγονότα από το "Τριαντάφυλλο του χειμώνα". Ο Σέιμι επιστρέφει στο Λονδίνο μετά από ένα ακόμη ταξίδι του. Όσα χρόνια και αν έχουν περάσει δεν μπορεί να ξεχάσει τον μεγάλου του έρωτα την Γουίλα Όλντεν μέχρι την μέρα που γνωρίζει την Τζένι και για πρώτη φορά στην ζωή του μπορεί να δει τον εαυτό του με μια άλλη γυναίκα. Η Γουίλα από την άλλη ζει στα Ιμαλάια φωτογραφίζει τις πανέμορφες βουνοκορφές και την φύση της περιοχής προσπαθώντας να ξεχάσει όλα όσα έχει χάσει.
Δεν ξέρω πραγματικά από που ακριβώς να ξεκινήσω με αυτήν μου την κριτική. Αν με ρωτούσε κάποιος πριν λίγο καιρό δεν θα μπορούσα να πιστέψω πως θα έδινα σε αυτό το βιβλίο μόνο 2 αστεράκια. Τα δύο προηγούμενα βιβλία της σειράς παραμένουν μερικά από τα αγαπημένα μου και ενώ η δομή αυτουνού είναι ακριβώς ίδια η Jennifer Donnelly δεν καταφέρνει να μας δώσει αυτό το κάτι ξεχωριστό που είχαν τα προηγούμενα.
Πραγματικά οι χαρακτήρες των Γουίλα και Σέιμι ήταν απλά ανυπόφοροι!!! Και ενώ λατρεύω την γραφή της Donnelly και το πως καταφέρνει να συνδυάσει όλα τα ιστορικά στοιχεία με όλους τους χαρακτήρες εδώ το βρήκα αδύνατων να μην εκνευρίζομαι όσο καλογραμμένα και να ήταν όλα.
Δεν ξέρω πότε ήταν η τελευταία φορά που ΜΙΣΗΣΑ τόσο έναν χαρακτήρα. Ναι Γουίλα παίρνεις επάξια το βραβείο του ποιου απαίσιου χαρακτήρα της χρονιάς (και όχι μόνο!) Ήταν εγωίστρια, αχάριστη, αυτοκαταστροφική, ανώριμη, κακομαθημένη, υπερβολικά αντιδραστική, δραματική και εντελώς παρτάκιας! Και ο Σέιμι; Δεν φτάνει σίγουρα την Γουίλα αλλά όταν ξεκίνησε το όλο θέμα πραγματικά τον μίσησα. Ενώ η συγγραφέας ήθελε τόσο πολύ να μας κάνει να νιώσουμε αυτά τα συναισθήματα για την Τζένι γινόταν ακριβώς το αντίθετο! Ο Σέιμον και η Γουίλα άξιζαν απολύτως ο ένας τον άλλο!
Ήθελα τόσο πολύ να τελειώσει! Αν δεν είχε όλες αυτές τις παράλληλες ιστορίες και επικεντρωνόταν μόνο σε αυτούς τους δύο δεν υπήρχε περίπτωση να το ολοκλήρωνα ποτέ. Και ξέρω πως υποτίθεται η ιστορία ακολουθάει τα αδέρφια Finnegan αλλά είμαι σίγουρη πως αν η ιστορία ακολουθούσε την πανέμορφη φιλόδοξη Katie (Που τόσο θυμίζει την μαμά της) θα είχαμε διαβάσει μια πολύ καλύτερη ιστορία.
Για το μόνο λόγο που δίνω και αυτά τα 2 αστέρια ήταν για αυτούς τους χαρακτήρες και φυσικά την φοβερά καλογραμμένη γραφή της Jennifer Donnelly. Όλα τα υπόλοιπα απλά δεν μπορούσαν να σταθούν....

Some parts may be deserving of a 3.75/5. Make of that what you will.
The conclusion to the thrilling Tea Rose trilogy - the first trilogy I read in its entirety ever! - follows the youngest Finnigan sibling, Seamus, and his lover, Willa, whom we met in the previous two as well. We also meet again the older Finnigans and their families as well.
I won't be elaborating on the main plot to be honest, because how can I sum up almost 800 pages in few paragraphs?
So I will move quickly to what I liked and what I didn't.
To be honest, I didn't love this as much as the first two. Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but not as good.
Gotta love how the majority of the fandom dislikes Willa, despite the author's best efforts to make her likeable. And despite not being able to put my finger on it, I have to agree. She pales in comparisson to the other female leads.
Seamus isn't in his best in this one as well. He was such a loveable kid in The Tea Rose and a likeable young man in The Winter Rose but I wasn't a fan of him being a distant husband and a cheater.
Also, in my opinion, this could have been shorter. I know the other two are huge as well, but I feel like this one could have been trimmed down a bit. Especially near the end, I was getting the feeling that the author was trying to squish in as much action as possible.
Another thing I didn't like, was that there were multiple characters that came back from the dead.
It was a pleasant surprise when Charlie faked his death in the first one. It was a pleasant surprise in the second one as well, but come on, in this one, all major characters at some point, are left for dead, only to be discovered alive later on! I think enough is enough.
In addition to that, I didn't really like the side plot with the Arab Revolt and the First World War. I'm not saying they should not be included, this is a historical fiction/romance series after all, but I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper and mafia related side plots in the first two so much more. This is a matter of personal taste.
I also wasn't a fan of Max's sudden redemption arc.
Because it took place literally in the last page and made Maud's and Glady's blackmail and deaths meaningless. When [J.K. Rowling] did it with Snape, it was cool, because that added an extra layer to his character and gave a different meaning to his actions, plus we could see how his actions helped the cause amd brought Voldemort's defeat. Here, it was lame...
And finally, say it with me Jenny deserved better!
Despite my complains with this, I still don't view it as a disappointement.
It was very easy to read, especially the first half and I'm so happy I got to meet all those amazing characters again!

I'm not saying they should not be included, this is a historical fiction/romance series after all, but I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper and mafia related side plots in the first two so much more. This is a matter of personal taste.
I also wasn't a fan of Max's sudden redemption arc.
Because it took place literally in the last page and made Maud's and Glady's blackmail and deaths meaningless. When [J.K. Rowling] did it with Snape, it was cool, because that added an extra layer to his character and gave a different meaning to his actions, plus we could see how his actions helped the cause amd brought Voldemort's defeat. Here, it was lame...
And finally, say it with me Jenny deserved better!
Despite my complains with this, I still don't view it as a disappointement.
It was very easy to read, especially the first half and I'm so happy I got to meet all those amazing characters again!
If you made it this far, congratulations!

Για την γραφή της Donnelly και μόνο, κατά τα άλλα η ιστορία πιο αδιάφορη κι από τα λαχανάκια Βρυξελλών.
Να μην πω για την πρωταγωνίστρια η οποία έπεσε από βουνό κι έζησε, έπεσε από ελικόπτερο κι έζησε, μέχρι κι από καμήλα πήγε κι έπεσε κι έζησε. Αυτή δεν ήταν άνθρωπος, ο RoboCop ήταν.

Το τρίτο και τελευταίο μέρος της υπέροχης τριλογίας της Ντόνελυ με το οποίο ολοκληρώνω το ταξιδι αυτό. Σίγουρα κάνοντας την αναπόφευκτη σύγκριση θα έλεγα πως αυτό κύλησε λίγο πιο αργά σε σχέση με τα δύο προηγούμενα, χωρίς όμως να σημαίνει πως ήταν υποδεέστερο.
Και πάλι αυτό που με κράτησε κοντά του ήταν το γεγονός πως δεν πρόκειται για ένα ακόμη "ρομάντζο" παρότι χαρακτηρίστηκε έτσι (προφανώς από όσους δεν έχουν καν διαβάσει το βιβλίο και απλά το κρίνουν από το τίτλο και το εξώφυλλο). Στο τρίτο αυτό μέρος δίνεται ακόμα λιγότερη έμφαση στο κομμάτι του love story μιας και οι ιστορικές εξελίξεις ξεπερνούν τους ίδιους τους ήρωες και οι πολιτικες και κοινωνικες προεκτάσεις είναι ακόμα εντονότερες.
Βρισκόμαστε στην Αγγλία του 1914 κάτω από τη σκιά του Παγκόσμιου πολέμου και ενώ οι γυναίκες μάχονται για το δικαίωμα ψήφου. Σύγχρονως νέες γεωγραφικές ανακαλύψεις επεκτείνουν τα όρια του μέχρι τότε γνωστού κοσμου. Βία, πόνος, θάνατος , κατασκοπεία, βασανιστήρια, καταστρατήγηση ατομικών και συλλογικών δικαιωμάτων, στέρηση ελευθερίας.....όλα τα δεινά που μπορεί να φέρει μια τέτοια πολεμική σύγκρουση περνούν μέσα από τις σελίδες αυτού του βιβλίου γεννώντας τόσα πολλά και ανάμεικτα συναισθήματα στον αναγνώστη.

This book was a trial to get through. It was very similar to the previous two books, but unfortunately it didn't contain many of the things I liked about the earlier ones and only contained the annoying bits. (Just for the record, my favorite was The Winter Rose and even that one I found frustrating for the second half.) The Wild Rose retreads a lot of the same (frustrating) plot points.
Seamie and Willa are in love. They can't ever fall in love with anyone else (of course not, it's true love, after all) but that doesn't stop them from involving a lot of other people in their nonsense. They cheat on and hurt everyone around them, but, hey, it's okay, they're in love. The obstacles to their love conveniently die or disappear, and the twists and turns in the plot taxed my patience and required me to suspend a lot of disbelief.
I found Seamus and Willa to be insufferable characters. I couldn't muster any sympathy for them which is fine because, with the amount of self-pitying they do, there's no need for me to pity them any further.
Because I couldn't root for the characters the book fell flat and, at times, made me want to throw it across the room. Still, Donnelly obviously does her research and I'll always love how she intertwines such huge historical events with small people's lives. I just wish I liked her dramatic stories and characters more.

Wow...how depressing...I can't believe I am giving this only two stars. I have been waiting for this book to come out and was INCREDIBLY excited to see it on NetGalley and even more priveledged that I was allowed to read an ARC. On that note, this isn't Jennifer Donnelly's finest work. Her other books, including her YA books have received nothing less than 4 stars from me. I found this one disappointing, forced and predictable though..and def. not up to her "standard" of writing.
Second, there were numerous errors regarding dates, ages and such that I confirmed with multiple individuals who were sucked into this trilogy as much as I was. I don't think it was sloppiness, but I do feel it was artistic liberties and that it was felt the fans either wouldn't pick up on or would be accepting of.
Bottom line though: I will still read every piece of literature that this woman puts out because she is an INCREDIBLE author who has a talent to weave a wonderful story.

Το μπουκέτο από τριαντάφυλλα συμπληρώθηκε αλλά δυστυχώς το τελευταίο ήταν γεμάτο αγκάθια.
Πολύ κατώτερο σε σχέση με το προηγούμενο που το είχα λατρέψει.Ιδίως το πρώτο μισό έκανα αγώνα για να καταφέρω να το διαβάσω και πάλι δεν το ολοκλήρωσα.Η πρωταγωνίστρια είναι από τις χειρότερες που έχω συναντήσει.Κατάφερε να ξεπεράσει την αντιπάθεια που έχω στη Σκάρλετ Ο Χάρα στο όσα παίρνει ο άνεμος,μπράβο Γουίλα,άξια.Για τον άντρα δεν έχω να πω πολλά,απλά αδιάφορος,χειρότερο από το να μου ήταν αντιπαθητικός.
Ούτε η παρουσία της Ίντια και του Σιντ που είναι το αγαπημένο μου ζευγάρι δεν κατάφερε να με κρατήσει.
Απογοητεύτηκα για μένα το κατώτερο της τριλογίας.

Got my hands on an advance copy and all I can say is … WOW!! If Tea Rose and Winter Rose were turned up to 11 in terms of drama, emotion, plot twists and unforgettable characters, Wild Rose is turned up to – I don’t know – 12? 20?? This absolutely lives up to its predecessors, and then some. It’s tied with Winter Rose for my favorite of the three … but everyone has a different favorite for different reasons!
I could gush for pages, as this is very fresh on my mind – but I don’t want to steal everyone’s pleasure of reading it for themselves. So I’ll just cover some of the big, general questions I had while waiting (and waiting … and waiting) for this book.
First, everyone is back! Joe and Fiona, Charlie and India, and of course Seamie and Willa (whom the story is centered on). It’s like a family reunion! There’s a very lovely scene on a happy occasion where Fiona is looking out at (almost all of) her extended family and I must say I had tears in my eyes taking it all in through her perspective. I felt like it was my family, I know them all so well. These characters don’t just make an appearance, either – they all have real roles in the plot … which, as you can imagine, is a huge, sprawling story. (I think it’s the most complex plot of the three – and that’s saying something!)
Real history – and real historical figures – are present in a big way. Biggest yet, I think. See if you don’t fall in love with Tom Lawrence (THE Tom Lawrence … of Arabia)!
The villain is creepy and great. It’s hard to top Jack the Ripper for badness, but we get closer to the bad guy in The Wild Rose – and he’s a really compelling character. Which makes him even more scary somehow ...
There are big plot twists, of course -- as you’d expect (and I won’t spoil). Some I saw coming a mile away, some took me completely by surprise.
It’s an emotional rollercoaster. The love story is very hard won (as usual) – but this one is grittier and maybe a little bittersweet (but no less powerful – their love is deep and intense). There’s more emotional weight to their relationship and less of the protagonists just missing each other. They’re not perfect; everyone is scarred and flawed. This all occurs amidst the horrors and heartbreak of World War I, and the suffering of that conflict is laid bare. The ending is as lyrical as the others, and knowing I was at the conclusion of such a long and engrossing three-volume story left me feeling like I was saying farewell to a dear old friend.
This is the most sequelly of the three – you can read this one first, or even by itself, but I think it’s best read after the others in the series. There are so many characters coming back into this one that you’ll miss out if you don’t know their history.
Finally, maybe this is just wishful thinking and I know there are only supposed to be three books in this series. But, see, Joe and Fiona have this beautiful, feisty and ambitious daughter -- and she, it turns out, is a chip off the old block …
I have read so many thirds/lasts in a series that were disappointing. I’m very happy to say this isn’t one of them. I think Donnelly took the time to do this one right. I guess that’s why it took so long!
Enjoy this – if you enjoyed the other Rose books, I’m sure you will. And thank you Jennifer Donnelly for this unforgettable, epic tale.

Δε θυμάμαι πότε ήταν η τελευταία φορά που ΜΙΣΗΣΑ ηρωίδα βιβλίου..Όχι απλά να μη μου άρεσε,να μη με ενθουσίασε,να με άφησε αδιάφορη..Να θέλω να τη δω να ΨΟΦΑΕΙ από την πρώτη σελίδα.Για να μην το θυμάμαι,μάλλον πάει πολύς καιρός.Γουίλα Όλντεν,πες αλεύρι...
Δε μου άρεσε αυτό το ζευγάρι,του Σέιμι με τη Γουίλα,από το δεύτερο βιβλίο κιόλας.Τη ψυλλιάστηκα τη συνέχεια και χαλάστηκα,έλα μου όμως που ήθελα να τελειώσω τη ρημάδα την τριλογία..Και πραγματικά,ευχαριστήθηκα όλες τις παράλληλες ιστορίες,χάρηκα που ξαναβρήκα αγαπημένα πρόσωπα και είδα πώς προχώρησαν οι ζωές τους,και μόνο γι' αυτό και για την αντικειμενικά άξια δουλειά της συγγραφέως,που συνεχίζει να με εκπλήσσει με τις ιστορικές γνώσεις και την έρευνά της σχετικά με διάφορους τομείς που αφορούν την εξέλιξη της ιστορίας,βάζω 3 αστεράκια.Αν το βιβλίο αφορούσε μόνο το ζεύγος της συμφοράς,πραγματικά δε θα το βαθμολογούσα καθόλου!
Ο Σέιμι βασικά ως ήρωας μου είναι αδιάφορος,δε θα τον θυμάμαι αύριο,τον είχα ήδη κατατάξει στη λίστα "who cares about..." από το δεύτερο βιβλίο,όμως αυτό το εγωκεντρικό,εγωϊστικό,κακομαθημένο,πεισματάρικο,γκρινιάρικο,εριστικό,αχάριστο πλάσμα τη Γουίλα πραγματικά θέλω να ξεχάσ�� πως τη γνώρισα ποτέ,συγγραφικά πάντα.Ευτυχώς που δε τη γνώρισα κάπου γύρω μου.Τα καπρίτσια της,που θύμιζαν 5χρονο κι όχι μια γυναίκα που έχει περάσει όσα αυτή,για μένα επισκίασαν τα όποια καλά της..Η στάση της,που όπως κι ο ίδιος ο αδελφός τη χαρακτήρισε,ήταν εντελώς "για πάρτη μου νοιάζομαι και οι άλλοι να πάτε να πνιγείτε" μου έδινε στα νεύρα.Οι αντιδράσεις της,το ίδιο.Κι άλλες πονέσανε κυρά μου,δεν ήσουν η μόνη!
Να μην τα πολυλογώ και ξοδεύω λέξεις για χάρη της...Περισσότερο συμπάθησα το Μαξ,παρά ΑΥΤΗΝ...Γουίλα,κρίμα που δεν γκρεμοτσακίστηκες σε καμιά κορφή κάπου εκεί στην 50η σελίδα και με ταλαιπώρησες για άλλες 700...

I hated this book. I am sorry. I wanted to like it, since I loved The Tea rose, and liked the second book. I never liked Willa and in this book it turned into hatred.
First off all: writing this that mention eating less to stop your mentrual cycle is, I have no words for this. I don't care why she would do it. Willa is in my opinion one of the weakest characters I have ever seen. No matter how Jennifer Donnely tries to write her as this selfminded, strong women, she is in my opinion weak, and runs away from everything.
Now for the worst part. No matter how hard you try, you can't make me hate Jenny. It felt like this. Well, I need a reason for my reader to hate this normal, sweet person, let's make her keep all this secrets, and turn her into a puppet for a spy, that'll work....
No it doesn't. It just made me hate Seamie. Jenny was desperate and why? because the *sshole is having an affair. AN AFFAIR! Why on earth would you think that I want to read about a man, who is married for a month, hopping into bed with an annoying, uncaring person. oh but I love you, barf.
Honestly, I don't even want to write about this book anymore. I'll just pretend I've never read this trainwreck and move on.

Η κριτική γραμμένη το 2016, τι λοιπόν θυμάμαι από αυτό το βιβλίο...
Θυμάμαι την λαχτάρα μόλις έμαθα ότι θα εκδοθεί επιτέλους .... μιλάμε περιμέναμε για το τελευταίο της σειράς κοντά 3 χρόνια.
Θυμάμαι την χαρά που το βρήκα στο πάγκο στο μέρος που παραθέριζα... δεν το σκέφτηκα καν αν θα το αγοράσω ή όχι.
Θυμάμαι την χαρά που είχα όταν άρχιζα να διαβάζω τις πρώτες σελίδες....
και θυμάμαι την απογοήτευση που ένιωσα όταν οι σελίδες αντί να τρέχουν και να ξεδιπλώνουν την μαγεία της γραφής της Ντονέλλυ... μέναν κολλημένες ή έτρεχαν σε ρυθμό κουτσής χελώνας.
Δεν θυμάμαι αν το τελείωσα.... απλά κπ στιγμή αποφάσισα ότι δεν παλευόταν άλλο.

Πέρασαν 9 χρόνια από τότε που κυκλοφόρησε "Το Τριανταφυλλάκι" και 3 χρόνια από την κυκλοφορία του "Άγριου Τριαντάφυλλου", τα δύο πρώτα βιβλία της επικής τριλογίας της Donnelly, και 2 από τότε που τα διάβασα κι εγώ η ίδια. Και όμως, παρά το μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα που μεσολάβησε, θυμόμουν κάθε λεπτομέρεια, κάθε μικρό ή μεγάλο βήμα των πρωταγωνιστών της, κάθε χαρά και λύπη που πέρασαν, κάθε συναίσθημα που βίωσαν και μοιράστηκαν μαζί μας. Και μπορεί να υπήρξαν στιγμές που η λαχτάρα μου να διαβάσω το τέλος της ιστορίας αυτής να επισκιαζόταν από την αγανάκτηση που γέννησε η αναμονή ωστόσο, όταν το βλέμμα μου έπεφτε στο κενό της βιβλιοθήκης μου που περίμενε να καλυφθεί, η επιθυμία επέστρεφε ακόμα πιο έντονη, ακόμα πιο δυνατή. Λοιπόν, η στιγμή που περίμενα, και μαζί με μένα, χιλιάδες ακόμα αναγνώστες, έφτασε και μπορώ να βεβαιότητα να πω πως, όχι μόνο άξιζε τον κόπο τόση αναμονή αλλά, πως δεν θα μπορούσα να περιμένω τίποτα λιγότερο και να ελπίζω σε τίποτα περισσότερο.
Η Donnelly μας μεταφέρει στην δεύτερη δεκαετία του 1900, οχτώ χρόνια μετά τα γεγονότα που σημάδεψαν το τέλος του δεύτερου βιβλίου της σειράς, και λίγο πριν ξεσπάσει ο πόλεμος. Ο Σέιμι, μόλις έχει επιστρέψει στο Λονδίνο έπειτα από ένα ακόμα ταξίδι του, και πιο συγκεκριμένα στο Νότιο Πόλο, με σκοπό να δει την οικογένειά του, δώσει κάποιες διαλέξεις για λογαριασμό της ΒΓΕ αλλά, και για να σκεφτεί τι θέλει από την ζωή του. Όσα χρόνια κι αν πέρασαν, εκείνος ποτέ δεν ξέχασε την Γουίλα Όλντεν, τον παιδικό και εφηβικό του έρωτα που έμελλε να γίνει η αγάπη της ζωής του, χάνοντάς την μέσα από τα χέρια του με την ίδια τραγικότητα που αυτή έχασε το πόδι της και μαζί με αυτό, τα όνειρά της για το μέλλον. Προσπαθεί να την ξεχάσει και να προχωρήσει, κάτι που φαντάζει αδύνατον, μέχρι την στιγμή τουλάχιστον που γνωρίζει την Τζένι με την οποία για πρώτη φορά φαντάζεται την ζωή του με ένα δικό του σπιτικό, με την δικιά του οικογένεια, τα δικά του παιδιά.
Η Γουίλα από την άλλη, έχει εγκαταλείψει τον Δυτικό κόσμο και ζει στην Ανατολή, ανάμεσα στις χιονισμένες βουνοκορφές, στα Ιμαλάια και την ηρεμία των βουδιστών μοναχών. Μην μπορώντας πλέον να εκπληρώσει την βαθύτερη επιθυμία της και να σκαρφαλώσει στις ψηλότερες κορφές του κόσμου, αρκείται να φωτογραφίζει την κρυμμένη ομορφιά τους, να ανακαλύπτει νέα μονοπάτια και δρόμους ανάμεσα στα βουνά αλλά και να οδηγεί τους επίδοξους εξερευνητές και αναρριχητές σε αυτά. Όμως βαθιά μέσα της δεν μπορεί να γαληνέψει. Πενθεί ακόμα για όλα όσα ονειρεύτηκε και πόθησε και τελικά, με τόσο σκληρό τρόπο τα έχασε. Πάνω απ' όλα όμως πενθεί για την αγάπη που ένιωσε και δεν πρόλαβε να χαρεί. Πάντα μέσα της ζει η σκέψη του Σέιμι και παρά το μίσος που αισθάνεται για την ζωή που της στέρησε, περισσότερο απ' όλα βασανίζεται για την αγάπη που του έχει και τρέμει τόσο στην ιδέα να ζήσει άλλο χωρίς αυτή, όσο και με το να την διεκδικήσει μετά από τόσο μεγάλο διάστημα.
Λένε όμως ότι οι μεγάλες αγάπες, ακόμα και αν είναι καταδικασμένες, δεν έχουν τέλος. Δεν σβήνει η αγάπη, όπως δεν μπορούν να σβήσουν τα άστρα από τον ουρανό. Έτσι και η αγάπη του Σέιμι και της Γουίλα, καταδικασμένη για οχτώ χρόνια στην μιζέρια της, βρίσκει την ευκαιρία να εκδηλωθεί, να ειπωθούν αλήθειες και τα πάθη να υπερτερήσουν έναντι της λογικής και των συμβάσεων. Ο πόλεμος όμως είναι πριν των πυλών και όλα πρόκειται να αλλάξουν. Τίποτα δεν θα είναι πια το ίδιο και πολύ περισσότερο οι πρωταγωνιστές της ιστορίας οι οποίοι, τόσο λόγω των πολιτικών και στρατιωτικών εξελίξεων, όσο και λόγω των προσωπικών τους εμμονών και αδυναμιών, οδηγούνται σε πράξεις και επιλογές που μπορούν να τους λυτρώσουν ή να τους καταστρέψουν. Μπορούν να βοηθήσουν ή να παρασυρθούν μαζί με τους άλλους στην δικιά τους καταδίκη. Όλοι οι ήρωες που γνωρίσαμε μέσα από τα τρία βιβλία, συναντιούνται για πρώτη φορά μαζικά, έτοιμοι να δώσουν νέους αγώνες, να αποδείξουν ότι δεν κέρδισαν άδικα όσα έχουν αλλά και να καταλάβουν ότι τα πάθη και οι πληγές δεν σταματούν ποτέ και πρέπει πάντα να είσαι εκεί, ικανός και έτοιμος να τα αντιμετωπίσεις.
Σίγουρα ένα από τα σημαντικότερα στοιχεία στα βιβλία της Donnelly, είναι η πολυπλοκότητα, η διαφορετικότητα ανάμεσα στους χαρακτήρες της και ο τρόπος με τον οποίο αυτή εξελίσσονται στην πορεία της. Και αν έχουμε αγαπήσει, ταυτιστεί, ακόμα και προβληματιστεί με τους χαρακτήρες που μας έχει παρουσιάσει στο παρελθόν, όλα αυτά μαζί τα βιώνουμε σε ακόμα μεγαλύτερο επίπεδο απέναντι στην Γουίλα η οποία, είναι αναμφισβήτητα ο πιο αντιφατικός χαρακτήρας απ' όλους. Την στιγμή που κερδίσει την κατανόηση και την συμπάθειά μας, την ίδια ακριβώς στιγμή μας κάνει έξαλλους με τις αυτοκαταστροφικές της τάσεις. Μόνη της έχει καταδικάσει τον εαυτό της σε μια ζωή αιώνιας και ασταμάτητης αυτοτιμωρίας, επειδή η απροσεξία της στο Κιλιμάντζαρο της στοίχισε το πόδι της, γιατί η αδυναμία της να δεχτεί τη νέα κατάσταση τ��ν έσπρωξε μακριά από τον Σέιμι και την οικογένειά της, γιατί το πάθος και η επιθυμία της είναι ακόλαστα και πληγώνουν τους άλλους, γιατί οι αναμνήσεις της και η θύμηση είναι πολύ πιο επίπονα απ' όσο μπορεί ν' αντέξει. Και μαζί με αυτή, τιμωρεί και τον Σέιμι ο οποίος, ενισχύοντας την αγάπη του απέναντί της και έχοντας συνείδηση των λαθών του, ακολουθεί τυφλά.
Όπως και στα προηγούμενα βιβλία της σειράς, αν κι ο έρωτας και η αγάπη είναι παντού κι εκδηλώνονται σε κάθε δυνατή μορφή, η συγγραφέας δημιουργεί ένα ιστορικό μοτίβο μέσα στο οποίο εξελίσσεται η ιστορία της. Βρισκόμαστε σε μια εποχή όπου δεν υπάρχουν αναταράξεις μόνο λόγω του πολέμου, εξαιτίας του οποίου ταξιδεύουμε πέραν της Αγγλίας, στην Γαλλία και την Αφρική αλλά, και λόγω των εσωτερικών πολιτικών εξελίξεων της χώρας. Βλέπουμε τις γυναίκες να μάχονται, να αγωνίζονται και να βγαίνουν στους δρόμους για το δικαίωμα στην ισότητα και στην ψήφο. Βλέπουμε το ασθενές φύλλο πιο δραστήριο παρά ποτέ, να εμπλέκεται σε τομείς αντρικούς και τελικά όχι μόνο να διαπρέπει αλλά, να αποδεικνύεται πιο πολύτιμο από κάθε αντρική συνεισφορά. Μιλάμε για μια περίοδο δύσκολη, μια περίοδο με βάσανα και ανέχεια κατά την οποία ωστόσο, έγιναν σημαντικές προσπάθειες για την βελτίωση της κοινωνίας, όπου τα τεχνολογικά και ιατρικά επιτεύγματα έκαναν βήματα μπροστά, όπου οι γυναίκες έδωσαν ένα ��χηρό παρόν αλλάζοντας τον κόσμο και στηρίζοντάς τον όταν εκείνος κατέρρεε.

Τελειωσε λοιπον αυτο το μαγικο ταξιδι της τριλογιας. Νομιζω ειναι μια ιστορια που θα μεινει χαραγμενη στο μυαλο μου και στην καρδια μου. Για να ειμαι ομως απολυτα ειλικρινης τα 2πρωτα βιβλια μου αρεσαν περισσοτερο απο το 3ο. Με κρατουσαν σε εγρηγορση συνεχως. Το τελευταιο δεν ειχε την ιδια ενταση. Παρ' ολα αυτα ενα 4.5/ 5 το παιρνει με το σπαθι του! Το συνιστω σε ολους και ολες. Μη σας φοβιζει ο ογκος τους. Κυλαει σα νερακι απο τη στιγμη που θα το πιασετε στα χερια σας.

Край на тази сага дето ме държа толкова дълго и упорито. Но последната част определено не е като предходните две. Внимание спойлери!!! Още, когато във втората книга се появиха историите на Шийми и Уила много се дразнех, че ме откъсват от основната сюжетна нишка. Дали заради това или просто ми бяха скучни с техните планини и катерене, но тогава четях тези глави малко по диагонал, а сега цяла книга за двамата нещо ми беше пре-много. Дразнеха ме техните отношения като цяло - много се обичат, а не знаят какво искат и само бягат един от друг. Особено Уила - не можах да свикна с нейния характер. Радвах се, когато Шийми се ожени за Джени, но тя също не беше за него с цялата и плахост и наивност. Но пък да й изневеряват зад гърба беше много долно и още повече ми станаха антипатични двамата главни герои. Прекаленото много политика и факти около ПСВ също отежняваха положението. Едва след средата, а и когато се появи Сид малко повече предизвика интерес тази част. Като цяло слаб завършек на трилогията поне за мен, особено като се има предвид как бързо и неусетно се четяха предходните две части. Дълго се чудех и каква оценка да дам. Повече ми клонеше към 3, но това, че е част от цялата трилогия и имаше по нещо и за останалите герои надделя и давам 3,5 - 4!

The Wild Rose Was a good read, but I just could not get into it like I did The Tea Rose. As I was reading it, all I could think is: "I wish this book and series would just end". Willa's problems with her leg did not seem believable with the time period. Her drug addiction, opiates are highly addictive, never affecting her was extremely questionable. I disliked her and Seamus' illicit affair where because "They were in love" it was ok to cheat on Jennie and hurt friends and family. They could just not help themselves. (can you see my sarcasm).
I did enjoy the historical accuracy however and I really learned a lot reading the series. For example this book included Lawrence of Arabia and the Spanish Flu. These are what kept me reading and even enjoying the books somewhat.

SPOILER WARNING. Those who have not yet read to the end of book #2, The Winter Rose, might find this review slightly spoilerish.
The Wild Rose begins about eight years after the close of The Winter Rose. Seamie Finnegan is now a famous explorer and the pride all of England. Willa Alden, on the other hand, still carries a lot of emotional baggage from her climbing accident on Mount Kilimanjaro, and when not drowning her sorrow and misery in alcohol and drugs, she lives by and climbs the *foothills* surrounding Mt. Everest. Just when Seamie thinks he can put Willa behind him and move on with life, Willa's father passes away and she returns to England for the funeral...
So as not to spoil, I'm not going to reveal anything else that happens in the book. This is another big ole’ fat soap opera in the same style as the first two, cliff hanging chapters and all. I really liked the way Donnelly brings back characters from the earlier novels, plus she gives them an actual story instead of a quick nod and fade to black like you see in other series (although I would have like more of Fiona and Charlie after...). I also appreciate the way Donnelly brings social issues and prejudices into her stories and involves her characters in them, you can see that these are issues she cares a great deal about. That said, I do have a few quibbles.
One of the greatest aspects of the first two books were the strong female characters. No matter what adversities and crappy things life dealt them, Fiona and India always picked themselves back up, dusted themselves off and got on with life. Not so with Willa. She's self-destructive, pouty and some times just gawd-awful miserable, and she spreads that sunshine to everyone around her. Yes, I know it sucks she lost a limb, but Joe's in a wheelchair and gets on with life quite nicely thankyouverymuch. Willa would have been more sympathetic (and interesting), if the woe-is-me attitude was dropped and we see her carving out a new life dealing positively with her handicap.
As for the handicap itself? Willa has a prosthetic leg in lieu of the one she lost after her climbing injury at the end of book two. Unfortunately, there are times when that limb virtually disappears from the storyline for lengthy periods of time. While I don't want to be clubbed over the head with constant reminders of her artificial limb, I'd have preferred seeing more of the day-to-day impact it has on her. Does she take it off when she showers? Goes to sleep? What about when making love, and why is it when we do get *the big love scene*, is there no discussion/mention of it between the pair? Seriously, it wouldn't be far-fetched to imagine Willa being a bit sensitive about her partner's first look at it in the *flesh*, nor that her partner could reassure she's beautiful to him as she is. Why doesn't she worry about damage to it whilst hiking those dangerous slopes around Mt. Everest? After arresting a dangerous fall, all that's mentioned are a couple of broken fingernails??!!
I did enjoy this a lot, but just not as much as the first two books (which I loved to bits) and I'm knocking off a half star for the quibbles listed above. Fans will definitely lap this up like kittens with cream and I do recommend it, but I just wanted a little bit more. 3.5/5 stars.

The Wild Rose begins about eight years after the close of The Winter Rose. Seamie Finnegan is now a famous explorer and the pride all of England. Willa Alden, on the other hand, still carries a lot of emotional baggage from her climbing accident on Mount Kilimanjaro, and when not drowning her sorrow and misery in alcohol and drugs, she lives by and climbs the *foothills* surrounding Mt. Everest. Just when Seamie thinks he can put Willa behind him and move on with life, Willa's father passes away and she returns to England for the funeral...
So as not to spoil, I'm not going to reveal anything else that happens in the book. This is another big ole’ fat soap opera in the same style as the first two, cliff hanging chapters and all. I really liked the way Donnelly brings back characters from the earlier novels, plus she gives them an actual story instead of a quick nod and fade to black like you see in other series (although I would have like more of Fiona and Charlie after...). Bis auf Seite 730 von 750 ein 5-Sterne-Buch, jetzt leider „nur“ 4.5/5 - Schade!
Ich muss schon sagen, dass ich ein wenig traurig darüber bin, dass ich meine geliebten Finnegans / Bristows und Baxters gehen lassen muss, aber ich kann ja immer wieder zu ihnen zurückkehren, das beruhigt mich dann doch ein bisschen. Für mich war der Abschluss der Trilogie definitiv der beste Teil der Trilogie und es ärgert mich immer noch, dass am Ende diese eine Sache passiert ist bzw. nicht passiert ist, die mich dann so gestört hat, dass ich am Ende einfach keine 5 Sterne vergeben konnte.
In diesem Band geht es um Seamie, den jüngsten der Finnegans, und Willa , die man bereits im Vorgänger kennengelernt hat und ich muss sagen, dass ich nicht erwartet hätte, dass sie mir so sehr ans Herz wachsen würden.
Zum Schreibstil brauche ich nach drei dicken Büchern, glaube ich, nicht mehr allzu viel sagen. Die Frau hat’s drauf und man kann trotz der Seitenzahl einfach nur so durch die Kapitel fliegen. Ich mag die Kombination aus Spannung, Emotionen (positiven wie negativen) und Herzklopfen.
Nachdem ich den zweiten Band so geliebt habe, konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen, dass ich Seamie oder Willa so gern haben könnte wie Sid und India, weil ich mich mit Letzterer auch so gut identifizieren konnte. Willa und ich könnten unterschiedlicher nicht sein, aber dennoch habe ich so sehr mit ihr mitgefiebert und vor allem mit ihr mitgelitten. Auch Seamie mochte ich gern, ich hatte nur manchmal etwas Probleme, ihn mit dem kleinen Jungen aus »Die Teerose« zusammenzubringen.
Das ganze Buch war einfach spannend, wir befinden uns auf drei unterschiedlichen Kontinenten und das vor dem Hintergrund des Ersten Weltkriegs, wodurch man ganz viele Perspektiven eröffnet bekommt und auch viele Dinge erfährt, die man mit dieser Zeit nicht unbedingt in erster Linie erfährt, die aber trotzdem enorm wichtig waren.
Fazit: Ein würdiger Abschluss für eine super Trilogie mit wundervollen Charakteren, die mir viele tolle Lesestunden bereitet hat.

This book is a whopper coming in at over 600 pages and set in locales across the world from 1914-1918. But let me tell you, do not be discouraged by its size. This is an amazing book. It's the third book in the Rose series by Jennifer Donnelly and its release has been very much waited for.
I don't even know where to begin. Ms.Donnelly has done such an amazing job with her research. She was very thorough and included some very important and relevant historical facts. And she did justice to them.
We thought this book was just going to be about Seamus and Willa, but this book continues where The Winter Rose left off, and includes ALL of the characters from the previous books. That means there are multiple story arcs going on at the same time. You might not see how they are all related, but they come together cohesively at the end and make for a stunning book. Never once was I lost. I was gripped and eager to find out what happened next.
I'm not a fan of sagas, but there is just something about the way Jennifer Donnelly writes that just sucks you into the story, the time, and all that's going on in the book. You can not help but root for your favorite characters and hope will be well for them. I can't recall if this was the last book in the series, but I can only hope that it isn't. And if it is, I can hardly wait to read whatever new material Ms.Donnelly has prepared for us.

This was an infuriating book that I cannot recommend to any of my GR friends. #3 in the Tea Rose Trilogy is not just more of the same; it's pure, pumping drama - totally unbelievable drama in a concentrated overdose.
Example:
I don't know how many times I said to myself "Let there be an end to this book!" It was a laborious and exhausting experience and went on far, far too long, but I had to finish it, however frustrating it was. Be warned!

H ιστορία του Σέιμι δεν ήταν όπως θα ήθελα,δεν με ενθουσίασε.
Ισως έφταιγε η Γουίλα,που δεν μου άρεσε καθόλου σαν χαρακτήρας και δεν την ήθελα για τον Σέιμι.
Είχα καλύτερες προοπτικές γι'αυτο το βιβλίο και με απογοήτευσε.
Ωστόσο μου αρεσε περισσότερο απ το 1ο βιβλίο και λιγότερο απ΄το 2ο. Αν και οι χαρακτήρες βελτιώνονται σε αυτό το βιβλίο σε σχέση με το πρώτο(η Φιόνα και ο Τζο)το καλύτερο βιβλίο της τριλογίας για εμένα ειναι ''Το Τριαντάφυλλο του χειμώνα'',με τον Σίντ και την Ίντια,που σίγουρα θα ξαναδιαβάσω!!

This is book #3 in the TeaRose Trilogy by author Jennifer Donnelly. The first two books were a solid 4 stars.....enjoyable but also predictable. This one had that too and from reading other reviews, others have felt the same way. People either loved the ending of this one or they hated it.
Even though I had a hard time getting into this one, I have to say that I loved the ending....well the multiple endings. The cascade at the end, tying up all the issues, was my favorite part and for that alone, I'd give this 5 stars. The whole star-crossed lovers was infuriating but it also reeled me right in. This author takes that to a different level. They were so tortured but the author can also dish out great globs of "cotton candy" when it comes to love. Overall, even given my dislikes, I loved this one. So 5 stars.

This is the last book of a great series! If you are a fan of family sagas or Jeffrey Archer's Clifton Chronicles, I highly recommend these books to you. The story is absolutely worth your time. I did all three books on audio and the narrator is fabulous.
I give this last book four stars only because I spent most of my time hating Willa and not liking her story, but then when the rest of the characters showed up, I liked the book. So, don't give up if you feel similarly. It is a good book!

Η τριλογια ολοκληρωνεται με "το αγριο τριανταφυλλο" το οποιο μαγευτικα καλογραμμενο και συγκλονιστικο οπως τα δυο προηγουμενα,τελειωνοντας μας αφηνει ενα αισθημα αγαπης που θα μεινει για παντα στην καρδια μας για ολους τους ηρωες των βιβλιων...Ολοι ειχαν τα θετικα και τα αρνητικα στοιχεια στους χαρακτηρες τους,ολοι εκαναν λαθη,καποιοι τα διορθωσαν,αλλοι οχι,ολοι κερδισαν την αγαπη ή το μισος μας...αλλα ακομα και αν τους μισησαμε,το συναισθημα που μας δημιουργησαν ηταν τοσο εντονο,που αξιζουν συγχαρητηρια στην συγγραφεα γι αυτο!
Χαραγμενη στις καρδιες μας η τριλογια της Jennifer Donnelly, ηταν,ειναι και θα ειναι απο τα καλυτερα βιβλια που εχω διαβασει...

Определено тази част е, която най-малко ми харесва. Тук започва да прилича на повечето си колежки американки авторката. Но въпреки всичко е интересна.
Това , което ще си запазя от повторното четене е :
".....най-добрите намерения на хората, а не най-лошите са онези, които ги закопават." ( Това мога да потвърдя от личен опит :)

Почти всички герои от предишните две книги присъстват и е доста трудно да следиш всичко и всички.
Но авторката пише толкова увлекателно, че не усещаш как стигаш до края.
Вплетени са много исторически факти отново.
Ще ми липсват героите от тази мащабна сага.
