Pleasures Estée Lauder
(Store Test)

Pleasures is beautiful floral-green fragrance.

I perceive amount of patchouli, maybe my nose strong to this at the beginning.
But it is softening as the time pass by.

However, you can sniff the classic element from this strongly.
It is soapier as the time goes by and it is much reminds me of Soap aldehyde and amount of rose.
And it ends with woodiness.

It is not offensive by any mean but I don't think any young audience with be attached by this..
I like this, its clean, its inoffensive, its professional but its for older audience.

CyanM

Green and fresh, with sweet florals at the beginning but a soapy dry-down. The longer I wear it the more it smells like just soap. I don't really get the patchouli, if anything it turns a bit powdery. I can see the appeal, but personally I really dislike soapy scents. Unfortunately I inherited a 3/4 full bottle.

Mags322

I have just been given an old bottle of Pleasures according to check fresh it’s 7 years old !!! and wait for it drum role please …….. it smells fresh and beautiful.

astralmonad870

This perfume smells like grass and red fruits to me. I don't really see the appeal but I notice my mother loves it and buys a new bottle every year.

bel.gravia

90s retro floral aquatic in the lines of Issey Miyake, quite strong with prominent lotus notes in the dry down quite woody.

kelleybelle

I used to like this scent when it first came out. It was very beautiful and popular. Not my usual scent, but nice enough. They reformulated it and absolutely ruined it. They ruined Beautiful too. Beautiful doesn't smell anything like it used to.

CoverMyFarts

Smells like high end lotion on me. It's lilac heavy, but not so much that it hurts my nose because it has a creamy, clean aspect to it (must be the sandalwood?). I sprayed myself about 12 hours ago and I can still smell it on me, but it's not an overwhelming bubble of scent. It projects enough that anyone within reach will catch a whiff of it without getting offended, so I'd say it's safe for the office.

This is a perfect spring/summer scent. Definitely daytime, but if you're the type to shower before bed, this is perfect for spraying before crawling into clean sheets.

ChelleBelle84

I am normally someone who likes and gravitates towards “soapy” scents. For me they’re the best daytime scents for everyday wear. This is described as being “soapy”, but on me, this smells more like wet grass that was left in a garbage bag. 😝 Not just green, but rotting green, and it doesn’t get better over time. Oh well. Win some, lose some! 🤷🏻♀️

I’ve had mostly good luck with Estée Lauder fragrances and those that were misses, like this one, wasn’t a question of quality, but rather personal taste and skin chemistry. Take what I say here with a grain of salt and try it for yourself. It may wear beautifully on you. Beautiful Magnolia works much better for me.

nordlanderin

Tried this after hearing multiple times it's a better alternative for Beautiful magnolia. I get why these two are compared - they are both casual non-groundbreaking white floral perfumes from the same house. However, I feel like this fragrance is just more mature. The composition isa lot more complex, but I don't feel like it makes the scent really richer - that lily-of-the-valley, peony, lilac and lily combo totally chokes me and outcries everything else. I'm not suggesting it's better or worse and I guess personal chemistry also makes a big deal, but I feel like this is not as young and fresh on myself as I'd want it to be.

ablesister

Gifted a new bottle. soapy fresh green floral, not entirely my vibe, but I like it in that it's the perfect tame perfume to douse when showing up to a job I hate.

MyScentBubble

I first smelled this when I was about 21, I was so surprised at how good it smelled, not dated in the slightest like some say. It smells like a lovely face cream or lotion to me. The "old lady" reviews I think put me off this for ages but it's Timeless and ageless.

Carolann59

One of the few times anyone ever complimented me on the fragrance I was wearing was while I was wearing Pleasures! I think I might start wearing it again come spring.... and yes, my vibe is green-floral and fresh citrus for the most part. In summer I wear Versace Versense endlessly, which works well in a hot climate. Of course, it's all about body chemistry and I find most fragrances too cloying or heavy on me so I now gravitate to lighter non-offensive scents for an uplifting experience!

sjfb

I haven’t tried this on my skin yet, but on the scent card I tried it had an overwhelming sickly scent of lily-of-the-valley. Maybe I’ll like this more if I try it on my skin since green/fresh florals generally tend to be something I DO like. If you love the smell of lily-of-the-valley though you might like this.

Annemarie

Just cracked open a new bottle. I wore the heck out of this in the 1995-8. For years I've not bothered with it, just kept a mini for reference.

Now I find it more or less as I remember, ie a peppery green floral, delicate, a little watery, but with plenty of heft. That was what was so innovative about Pleasures back in the day - shower-fresh cleanliness that could last all day. I don't think the individual notes matter that much; Pleasures smells like a flower garden after the rain. That's it.

Maybe I find it a little more synthetic than before? Could be memory playing tricks.

Now that so many designer releases are dominated by vanilla, amber and syrupy fruit, Pleasures is starting to look new again!

Mona708

This reminds me somewhat of Avon Haiku minus its soapy notes and most of the sweetness. It also has a sharper start than Haiku. While I liked it, I prefer Haiku, so I probably wouldn’t buy it. It does have a good sillage and longevity, though.

Mimithenoynoy

One of the best fresh florals that I smelt in my life. Love love...

JessiB

I've had this perfume in my cupboard for well over 10 years. It was part of a Christmas box set that included a body wash and body lotion. Having used the body wash and body lotion a while back, I decided to break into what I now call my 'vintage' perfumes and use this spray. It smells even stronger than it did when I first bought it, which is not surprising. Still beautiful, rich, heady, overwhelmingly floral and green. It lingers forever and reminds you of a lovely rain-swept afternoon, with the sun trying to break through white clouds. I love it today as much as I did when I first bought it.

Printeza7

Wore it back early 2000s - my signature scent, loved it!!!! Just bought for me a new bottle today and still love it as much ♥️ such a " never getting too old" fragrance, unique, sexy, creamy yet so floral! True diamond in a bottle!

rachelv

I remember when it first came out in the 90s, my friend bought it and sprayed it every day. I liked the smell but didn't buy it because it was my friend's scent and I didn't want to smell just like her. Now I'm buying back a lot of the 90s perfumes for memory's sake. I bought a 15 ml bottle of this - the smallest bottle I could find, as I couldn't find a sample size. I wasn't sure if I'd like it or if I remembered it as it smells now. Anyway, I find this bottle I have smells a lot greener. In fact, compared to Gucci Envy, Pleasures is slightly less green smelling, but overall I'd say Pleasures is a lot more green smelling than most floral perfumes today. And it certainly smells a lot greener than I remember it to be back in the 90s. I can even smell elements of wet grass in it. It can be quite a sharp floral when you first spray it on. I don't get much sweetness from this at all. I'm not sure if the company reformulated it, or my memory's playing tricks on me, but in the 90s Pleasures always smelled like an overindulgent, intoxicating scent of florals, without too much green ness as it does now. Perhaps it just smelled different on my friend's skin, I don't know.

romanticblossom

Beautifully floral. This will aways be timeless and classy!

PerfumeUser2023

Very flowery, quality blended.
Sweet and sour opening, all at the same time. Transitions from one ingredient to another is smooth, but not too smooth, as there' s a clear differentiation from sweetness to sour. It' s like walking on berries, whilst someone cuts grass on the field, and there' s a wind coming from the hills, cooling everything, bringing with it the smell of the wild flowers.
It' s a mature perfume, not for night life. It' s more of an office, business type.
I think it slowly starts being overpriced, and hard to find the original one. But it' s (still) worth the money.

Highly recommend it.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

Pleasures by Estée Lauder makes me think of a field of flowers that has been rained on and clean white linen that has been left outside on the laundry line in the rain. It's a very fresh and light fragrance and it's unlikely to offend anyone with its smell.

I almost get an aldehydic opening that makes me think of the fresh, cool and damp air outside on a rainy day that has rays of sunshine here and there, a rainbow gracing the heavens like a perfect prism. I think that it is the combination of the green notes, violet leaf, violet and freesia in the opening, along with the musk in the base. I like this aspect of this fragrance, but it honestly reminds me of laundry soap powder at times. I'm also not mad on the pink pepper in the opening and find it slightly too spicy.

The heart notes are of course my favorite and I really like the lush bouquet of lily of the valley, lilac, jasmine and rose I smell at this stage of Pleasures. I did find that the peony and geranium were slightly to spicy to my nose though and that I could of done without it. I also wish that I could smell more of the lily in here.

There was again more powderiness at the base with the musk of course and a very slight woodiness from the cedar and sandalwood, the sandalwood being slightly more prominent to my nose. I was just glad that I couldn't smell any patchouli here, since I can't stand patchouli. It may have just given a slight grassy earthiness in this case that I'm smelling?

I'd call this perfume a very feminine spring fragrance that you'd wear during the day, since it evokes a very pure and angel-like aura. I could imagine my favorite actress, the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow wearing this with a white linen shirt, chinos and Tod's moccasins to a lunch in this, bringing her golden retriver along with her. I guess she was in some of the adverts for this, so it makes sense!

Altogether I got a fairly standard 6 hours wear from this perfume on my skin and a moderate sillage. Though by no means a bad perfume, Pleasures by Estée Lauder didn't really wow me and so I'd give it a 6/10.

LadyZed

This used to be such a gorgeous, feminine floral, but they *butchered it so bad over the years, it's just a ghost of its former self. So sad and unfortunate.

MTK82

What a delicate beauty this one is!! I've used it so much over the years that I'm tired of it but there's no denying that it had a cult following back in the day. Smells like a willowy gir with a sundress on, flowing hair and she's walking around a garden in the afternoon smelling like pleasures...so sweet and innocent. Blind buy any day

violeteme

Beautiful, delicate classic. Quite ageless and absolutely timeless. Soft lily of the valley, little bit of dewy greenery and bitterness. Feminine pluriel by MFK seems to be heavily inspired by this classic. It’s a perfume of dainty fairies, a perfume of debutantes and ballerinas, a perfume of an elegant lady in her pearls, a perfume of a motherly woman, a perfume of beauty.

Marilouparfemme

The few times I wore it. I felt it sitting on my chest suffocating me. Too powdery for my taste. I'll try it if God's will in winter maybe it will work better

Irina_Spalko

I used to douse myself in Pleasures every day going to work when first becoming a professional. Tore through several bottles. It was green and fresh and reminded me of "sweet tarts" candy. This was my first time regularly wearing a perfume/having a signature scent - I was in my mid 20's and had quickly become nose blind to it. We worked in a cubicle environment so everyone around me was probably suffering! After about 3 years it began to turn sour on my skin and I would smell bad. Recently tried Pleasures again on a trip to a department store and found the scent remains acrid on my skin with a sharp "soap" smell (like COAST soap). We had fun times together, but she is now just a memory of my past.

Mimachan

After being gone for quite a very longtime here i Indonesia, Estee Lauder bring back this classic scents...

I was at the store when they approach me saying it came back again the beautifull estee lauder pleasures...

I was using it on 2006 - 2007. To my memory, the scent previously smeels stronger and more white floral while the one that I just purchased (2023) still have the strong white floral scent but I can also smell it's more greenier than the older version

This is a typical of clean parfume for me.... I can imagine a woman sun-drying clothes under the sun in the midst of a field of tall grass, accompanied by a refreshing breeze. It's a real beauty for the white floral lovers....

MountainPrincess

If the color green had a scent, it would be this. Strong.

sakecat22

The prototypical "spring" shampoo floral. Interestingly, the further I get into the manufacturer's mini (2022), the less my skin amps the soapy musk, leaving a lily-of-the-valley and violet dominant floral. Shines in the heat on me.
I would be very wary of over-spraying and inadvertently choking out yourself and anyone within 5 feet of you.

This is not a scent profile I typically enjoy, but the more I wear Pleasures, the more it grows on me.

FlowerSeeker

This is a nice floral fragrance. Big hit of flowers - several of them. Also a strong shampoo scent. I see patchouli in the notes list and usually don’t like it, but it’s not noticeable to me here. Pleasures isn’t sweet and I prefer my florals sweet. I’ll keep my small bottle and wear it again but probably won’t purchase another. Flower lovers may really enjoy this.

Domenica23

Pleasures is so good. Also the quality is good. I bought a bottle so long ago and it still sticks. Very flowery, fresh and elegant one can wear it all year long🍇🍐🍈😍🎈👗👟 I don`t make a difference between European and American perfumes. A perfume is a perfume no matter what country it comes from

FragranceHoarder

What do you say about a classic that has spawned so many flankers? Notably - she is VERY body-chemistry dependent. This is a whole different fragrance on me than on anyone else. My body chemistry does something to this that makes it unrecognizable to others who wear this scent, but not in a gross or bad way. Lilacs and roses come to the fore. Deep, rich lilac, and both light and dark roses. Patchouli adds a spicy earthiness, but not offensively. Getanium adds a bit of a kick, but there's no pepper. I know it's there, but no one who smells this on me uas any idea that there's cedar in it. This version smells exactly the same as the original, on me and to me. It does smell like a garden after the rain, when I wear it. I can wear it all year. The weirder characteristic of this is that it's SO linear on my. There is no opening, there is no dry down, this is all hefty heart notes with the opening and dry down notes present as well, but not loudly. Body chemistry is such a funny thing. Flowers I am allergic to shine through, but do not create a headache, and not screechy.

Huge warning - Estée Lauder notes are VERY volatile, do not expose your fragrances to too much light. The shelf life improves significantly by keeping these in the dark... so put them back in their boxes, not on a bright vanity. Anytime my Lauder fragrances have gotten darker, they are beginning to 'turn', so be wary. Celery, cat pee, or rotting white flowers are all definitely signs that your perfume is no longer wearable in a way that is enjoyable.

la.femme.scent

Went through a 1 oz bottle of this a few months ago.
I used it as an after shower scent and it went really well with my body chemistry.
But I wouldn't repurchase it even though I enjoyed it for what it was.
I think the reformulation of this is missing the magic it once had even though I never smelled the original (not to my memory); but I can imagine the true potential this fragrance may have once had.
Pitty, because I love classic florals and they're harder to find these days.

Angeldaisy

Parfum: pervasive, clean, aqua/fresh, "floral" bouquet. cant smell the base notes, other than "white" musk.
Estee Lauder's lady version of l'eau d'issey (3 years previous).
Makes me imagine wearing a silk chiffon floral print dress that is lined with polyester.

deliberateangel

My grandmother used to wear this. She likes strong, expensive "in your face" sort of perfumes. That being said, this is strong white florals and soap. It just kept getting stronger and stronger. To me, it's a scrubber and headache inducing. In no way, do I want to smell this for hours and break down the notes, dry down and such. I'd rather bang my head on the wall.
Old, dated, boring and fit for an old lady. Next!

Tunzz

Fresh, Green, Floral bomb with a little bit of spice. I don’t typical like this scent profile but I love this. Very grown, very floral, not sweet, a little citrusy and bitter. Super long lasting

michalamellsgood

One of the worst frags for my nose... it just gives me an immediate headache, and smells very old fashioned.

HannahRosesAreRed

Chanel No. 5, 90s style.

Pleasures is the cooler, soapier, greener predecessor to Dior J'Adore, with an emphasis on white and almost aquatic spring florals. It's one of the more user-friendly of Estee Lauder's vintage perfume catalogs, moving out of the very potent and literal opulence of 1980s into the aldehydic, aquatic freshness of the 1990s. The florals here all lean on the greener and less indolic side–water lily of the valley and sweet, distinct hyacinth and peony are the most noticeable. Regular lily and freesia add a bit of cosmetic-like powdery flair. There's a slightly acidic, public bathroom-soap accord in the opening that lingers slightly into the drydown–pretty common for fragrances of this era, especially the aldehydes courtesy of this designer.

Performance-wise, Pleasures has respectable longevity and surprisingly good sillage. So a little goes a long way. I'd argue that it performs better on fabric then on skin, being less chemical and overtly, artificially soapy and more just fresh and soothing. I'd use this as a good nighttime or bedtime, winding-down fragrance. Overall, Pleasures is just...pleasant. Not a blind buy, but appealing and an easy reach for those who can see its appeal. And let's not forget those lovely commercials featuring beautiful spring gardens and–of course–puppies. What's not to like?

cookygirl

Fragrancenovice and anyone else interested in sampling or revisiting Pleasures:
Make sure you test a fresh bottle.
This scent turns quickly, which is why you get the celery note.
I do not recommend testing from a mini that is part of a collection (unless it is a very recent one).
Be especially wary if the collection is a set of Pleasures + flankers which are all long discontinued.

fragrancenovice

Some years back, I received a set of Estee Lauder miniature EDPs, and one of them was Pleasures. I liked it, but not enough to buy a big bottle.

Idk, it's a nice, to my nose slightly exotic floral, but I just didn't love it. It was pretty strong and lasted well on my dry, perfume eating skin. IMHO, that's something I like about the Estee Lauder fragrances I've tried - it seems like you get what you pay for. They aren't watered down.

After reading some of these reviews, I think maybe I should try it again. Because it really does sound like something I would like!

Cocomadre80!

I have a mini spray bottle as part of an Estée Lauder gift set. I wish I could get the dewy floral loveliness that some of the reviews described, it sounds truly wonderful. My reaction is at first screechy strong alcohol, then smells like urine to me shortly after. A reviewer said they smell celery and I think that is a way more accurate description than the urine scent I was associating it with.
Even though Pleasures doesn’t reconcile well with me, I’m glad it was in a small bottle to give it a chance. I did find in the gift set selections I had, Sensuous was my favorite, which I was not expecting!
I loved the pleasures advertisements in the 90s and y2k era, so having a mini bottle of it my collection for pop culture even though I will never wear it is fine with me!

Enrium

Pleasures is another modern classic from Estée Lauder. A 1990s time capsule for many, it bridges the gap from classic aldehydic florals like No. 5 and, especially, White Linen; and the radiantly clean futuristic minimalism of the 1990s. This kind of thing served as a palette cleanser of sorts after the huge amber/tuberose/spicebombs of the 1980s. Pleasures is a beautifully formed sheer green floral; dewy, soapy, strangely snow-like and cleanly musky. It is the olfactory equivalent of the transition of winter to spring, as well as simply smelling like luxury soap.

Pleasures has a dewy, sap-like green opening, heralding the beautifully-rendered muguet note that follows. The freesia, a sweet, aquatic floral note that I strongly associate with floral-fruities of the noughties, is used to perfection here, adding to the transparent floral theme. Green, slightly powdery violet follows, quite prominent for a spell. Pink pepper gives a tiny hint of spice. It is all very sheer and fresh.

As it develops, a creamy yet soft white floral accord, reminiscent of rich soap, rounds out the heart beautifully. It remains sheer and green. Dewy rose and aquatic peony follow, with geranium adding fresh greenness. A clean musk develops steadily in the background, tying it all together, making it ethereal, soft, soap-like and snowy. Soft woody notes creep in as it dries down, becoming a cleanly musky skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is surprisingly long-lasting. It is decidedly feminine to my nose.

A beautifully composed, dewy, transparent floral with a lovely greenness throughout, Pleasures is remarkable in that it relies on musk instead of aldehydes to create its white soap effect. "A rich bouquet of fresh flowers after the rain" indeed. Made for spring days. Excellent. 4.5/5.

astralmonad870

3 dewy and fresh perfumes from the 90s for women:
1) Estée Lauder Pleasures
2) DKNY Women
3) Issey Miyake L’eau d’Issey

2) and 3) are cold fresh for summer while 1) evokes vegetal softness of fresh flowers in the sun after the spring rain, with the warm green notes from violet leaf.
What people are referring to as a celery note in this actually reminds me of
dewy grass. I don’t get as much of the pink berries.

Lingonberry

Does this smell like the Estée Lauders perfectly clean cleanser?

poetic.perfumes

Estée Lauder describes this fragrance on their website as "a fragrance that unfolds like a flower in the warmth of the sun" and as one that "captures the clarity of flowers just after a spring rain". I have never seen a scent be so accurately illustrated before. That is exactly what Pleasures smells like. I'm not a fan of florals. This is not a fragrance that caters to my personal olfactory taste, but I cannot help but to be in awe of its beauty. At that very first moment when you spray it, the scent comes out strong, dry, serious, alien, almost unpleasant. And you can notice as clear as day as it begins its transformation, slowly becoming soft and delicate, but still impactful.

Selinana

Smells like Versace pour femme and J'adore.

tilapia_johnson

This is an inoffensive, green floral scent that is soapy without being aldehydic. A true bouquet of recognizable flowers, with the added intrigue of pink pepper and karo karounde, an African flower with a bitter almond accord (the vegetal, celery note people point out is probably this). It reminds me of Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, but less refined. If Pleasures came in a Byredo bottle with a more poetic name, I think people would be clambering for it. There is a tinge of clean laundry or fancy soap, but it is so close to the skin it shouldn't bother anyone. Zero fruit, zero sweetness, all freshness. The ultimate normcore perfume (I'm a man and I find it really nice as a no-brainer, transparent-watery reach).

jazzscent13

This was my mother’s favorite scent in the 90s… it’s a beautiful dewy floral scent. It’s kinda linear… but it’s a classic inoffensive scent that most can appreciate.
I will always keep this in my collection for nostalgia purposes (because of my mother 🌸)

roxxyg

I have the OG bottle of this. I really wanted to say I like it but it's really just OK. I get a pleasant floral, but overwhelmingly too green scented and not in a great way. I also smell celery oddly enough, some of the other notes would be nice but they don't really come through. It's a shame as it has quite a good longevity. Oh well, it's ok but i don't reach for it and not found it to work with layering either.

Lady Lynx

Spritz. Sniff. Soap. Syrupy, somehow. Celery (seriously). Surely smells strange.

Second spray. Still syrup, sickly saccharine. Still celery, subtly spoiled. Sudsy semblance.

Surprisingly strong sillage…

Suddenly, splitting cephalalgia. Squinting. Suffering. Sadness. Cease sniffing swiftly. Shower soon.

Still stinks since Sunday.

Sneaking suspicion: scent simply sucks. Sorry!

Maudel

I smelled this 2 weeks ago and I bought me back to the late 90's. I tested it on paper and immediately loved it. Fresh (I live in the tropics). When it just came out, I didn't have the money to buy it.
But. There is a sharp green note to it that I cannot stand. I thought it was me, but my boyfriend felt the same. He usually loves all my perfumes. I remember this perfume being mesmerising. I have put it aside and shall try again later. If it still doesn't work, I shall gift it.
Disappointed :(

saho93

It has a pleasant smell. But I like the intense flanker better: much more lush; longevity is better.

This one is more aquatic flower, which I think many people like better. Lighter, fresher.

perfumism

My very first perfume and a gift from my aunts, I appreciate this perfume for what it was. It was a good introduction to scents but I think I have outgrown this and found what I really like. It is a lot of florals and it hits you with the greenery. If you like florals then this is one you should try but you have to REALLY like florals to enjoy. It lasts pretty long, especially on clothes. You can definitely still smell it at the end fo the day and the sillage is pretty good because some people have noted the scent before.

Its not my favorite but its someone's favorite. not a safe blind buy, definitely try it before smelling.
Macy's has a set every year for their fragrances so if you like this, there's the set.

Anfissa

It was my first love in the perfume world when my husband gifted it to me for Christmas. It’s like walking in a luscious Spring time garden where the lilacs and other spring time florals are in bloom. Pleasures fits this perfume, and I have always loved the ad where a pretty lady is on the sofa with her pet. Every time I come back to this, it makes me smile and uplifts me. It’s perfect for Spring or summer. If you ever smelled Romance by Ralph Loren, and liked it, you might like this. It has the same crisp freshness mixed with an intense floral bouquet. It’s by no means subtle. But if you are into a strong intoxicating burst of flowers, then try to smell it at the Estée Lauder counter. The modern version of this will be their Beautiful Magnolia. For me it is a forever vintage classic.

I don't know if I can wear pleasures and I'm regretting purchasing a big bottle. One of my friends wore this scent religiously in the early 2000's and I liked it on her but now it feels dated, stale and screechy. Maybe it is one of those scents that smells good to others but not to the person wearing it?

I thought about blending it with something else but this already has so many notes. It does not play well with others. The dry down is better than the initial hour but like someone else pointed out, there is a musty, mildewy, ash tray something going on. I would not blind buy unless you love florals because this is a floral atomic bomb.

milipudding

In the bottle, it smells like a cute feminine girl with a soft voice would wear this, maybe she's going to an amusement park or a day trip into the city. On me, it's a very powdery floral and I don't like it. It does get better as it dries down more

Fatima1219

The initial sprays are very GREEN--too green for my taste. As time passes, this fragrance becomes more clean and citrusy. The final development is flowers and soap. I do not despise this fragrance--it has excellent longevity and sillage. But--it has this old, basement, standing water, mildew-ish smell to it when first applied. Basically, what I'm saying is: spraying it on sucks, but the dry down is decent. This is definitely not a safe blind-buy!

StllM@gnolia30

I don't know why but this scent makes me feel old and gives me a headache. A sample of it seemed nice enough, but I regret getting the full-size version.

Red Jaguar

In my top 5 for sure. I never get tired of this and every once in a while I have to just take off the cap to sniff it almost gives me deja vu. It's such a beautiful watery floral, it's one of my most long lasting and the sillage is strong but not overwhelming. Smells absolutely classic.

Kcbear28

Green, sharp, clean, borderline screechy in a good way. Perfect choice for when you need to rush out the door on a warm day (not on a very hot day tho). It’s not too complex and doesn’t exactly blow your mind but is definitely the OG of fresh fragrance in my opinion.

XOXO_marcel

Going to have to change my earlier comment, which I based on smelling a tester strip. This isn't nearly as good on skin (at least on my skin - maybe it works for you, so test it out if you have a chance). On paper it was the perfect balance between fresh and spicy. On me, it was straight alcohol for about 15 minutes and then turned into something like hay. That's where it stayed. Maybe it's just my skin chemistry, but this was disappointing given how much I initially liked it.

kosmo

first spray smells citrusy and flowery.. lots of flowers and water.
i dont like watery scents and this watery scents is similar to flower princess by vera wang
this perfume is upgrade version of flower princess by vera wang with citrus.
easygoing scent .. but not that elegant or terrific like the reviews
i got it blind but if i had known this scent, i would not have bought this.

sravz

It was really amazing 15 years ago when I got my first bottle in my teen years. All I did was smell like the bottle . It was a big deal back then my dad got it from Dubai airport. My first ever perfume and also a designer perfume. wow I’m lucky to have this. Perfumes are supposed to be connecting us with a memory which is unique and this one has done a great job.

Veronica1962

This is one of the most gorgeous, pleasing perfumes I’ve ever smelt. This is the ultimate clean girl fragrance and I think its extremely underrated. The title is 100% accurate. It is a very pleasurable fragrance. Funny cause I’m an oriental girl and I love this, after I spray it I can’t stop smelling myself it’s amazing. 9/10

The Wolf

This smells FANTASTIC on a woman. I'm surprised to see the low overall rating. But maybe it's been reformulated, I've only smelled vintage.

ajraccounts

Clean clean clean. Flowers. Clean.

petshopb

Number 1 female fragrance.

klein_gluck

Lately, I started to enjoy this one. It is a clean, very floral, serious scent. Makes me think about floral gardens as a hobby of the successful businesswoman o something like that. Classy, lasts well, white flowers and a lot of green notes. Sharp. 0% sweet.

Laurus

This is perfection to me. It is my all time favourite fragrance and I never got tired of it. It is just so fresh and it never attacts with sickly spicy warmth but it never is screetchy and headache inducing either. I am not sure what are the notes I specially love but it might be the Lily.

twiztidladii

Very well done fresh floral perfume with just the right amount of musk. Very pretty. I’m disappointed that I waited this long to get my hands on another bottle (since the 90s).

Allegoria

My favorite fragrance years ago was Alfred Sung’s PURE. I still have a bottle. So when I purchased PLEASURES I put it on my left wrist — and PURE on my right wrist. So very close. PURE is missing the real ‘green note’ in Pleasures, but both are such a clean, fresh floral. Because I purchased the PLEASURES body lotion, I enjoyed wearing it, but wanted more of the floral to shine instead of the green. So I tried the lotion with a real rose perfume, (in this case Miss Dior Roses n Roses) and it was just the clean rose scent I was after. The clean is there, but the fresh rose takes center stage. Just lovely!

PinkHydrangea

I was in search of a fresh floral for summer when I saw this bottle in the store, a fragrance my mom used to have when I was in kindergarten :) This is exactly what ı was looking for, fresh as in not in an aquatic way but like freshly cut flower stems, inoffensive and I really enjoy it, for about 90 minutes until it disappears... This has the worst longevity I have ever seen.

cookygirl

Rebemario, it can also be that those reporting celery or other strange notes, have a bottle that has turned.
This fragrance unfortunately turns very quickly bringing with it that dreaded celery note.
I adore Pleasures and will always have it in my collection, but find that I have to replace my bottles way before I even begin to finish them and I buy the smaller 50 or even 30 ml. ones ...

redberrykitty

This is a simple, super fresh floral. It's okay! Good for a very hot day, for sure. Classy. Nothing I would pick up personally, but it's a good everyday scent.

prava.slava.mama

This one made me literally gasp when I smelled it (and not in a good way)... I adore white florals and so many of the notes are favorites of mine. So I bought a small travel bottle off ebay thinking it would be a shoo-in, but WOW. All I smell is an overwhelming, bizarre bitter smell. It's hard to put my finger on but it's sort of liked burned, no, charred caramel. Or nail polish remover. There's some rotten celery there too. It is possible that I got a bad bottle or my personal chemistry is wrong for this scent, but I see some other reviewers had a similar experience. It literally smells like an industrial strength cleaner to me, not even a scented one; something you'd have to handle with gloves on.

According to fragrantica that flower karo karounde has a "bitter almond" kind of smell. I guess I'm picking up on that. I understand there can be pleasant bitterness to balance sweet florals, and I'm actually in the market for a pleasantly bitter green tea scent (like EA but not so sweet). But this bitterness was intense, weird, nasty bitterness. I can't smell a single floral. This one is a big no for me.

belinda.1

A really nice, pleasing mixed floral.

EmilyC

Just an absolutely beautiful fresh floral scent its one of my safe go to scents thats perfect for any day time ocassion! My husband really likes the way this one smells too so sometimes i will even wear it to bed for him! 10/10 will always repurchase this!

karenX

This is one of my safe scents. Yes, it's probably boring to most people, but we all need a few scents that we can throw on anytime for comfort and ease of wear. This scent fits in anywhere, anytime, and sillage can be adjusted by spray volume. It sticks around but doesn't overwhelm. Peony and freesia tend to stand out on my skin, but a lot of the other floral notes can be detected. A clean, fresh floral with green and soapy notes.

markromeo5

The Worst smell i I have ever smelt in my life.

Kuty22

I had an idea of how this smells like but in reality I don't like it as much as I thought I would.
This fragance is boring 💤
I don't see the notes developing, plus it doesn't last long
My fiancé says he likes it. To me there's something about this that reminds me of L'Eau D'Issey EDT but this one, I only tried a sample and it lasts forever

Bewitchedstar

I got the 15ml second hand for $6
I had high hopes for this one :-(
I usually like peony and rose in a perfume
But in this, I can’t even smell it.
It’s too “green” and crisp for me
Kind of like a toned down car freshener plus celery ??? It’s just a no for me.

Woollyworm

I loved and wore Pleasures in the early 2000's. It always seemed light and appropriate for most occasions, an abstract floral that was easily worn and easily enjoyed.

The last time I purchased a bottle, it had a weird off note. REALLY weird. Like celery seed. It put me right off, and I never wore it again. I've read since that I'm not the only one who experienced this, and i might have just gotten hold of a bottle that had gone off.

I really did like it, so I plan to seek out a sample and try it once more. Pleasures is one of those fragrances that smelled good on women of various ages and skin tones. I'm hopeful that I can enjoy this one again.

Ticketgirl

I’m not a huge Estée Lauder fan, but I really like this one. I enjoy a touch of green now and then, but I like it to be a modest component. White flowers are my favorite. Pleasures offers up a nice offering of both. The green burns off pretty quickly…well, mostly. I am still enjoying a bit while the mid notes take over. Nothing about this fragrance is “in your face.” It’s well-behaved and lovely. Looking forward to the dry down. If it’s as well-controlled as the top and heart notes, this one will indeed be a Pleasure.

annasarahr121

Noooooooo...!!! Pleasures has that dreaded sharp cleanser-type note that I get from some very beloved and popular fragrances (Chloe EDP, Ralph Lauren Romance, Lancome Miracle, Calvin Klein Eternity Now, etc.). I love florals but I just can't do it... It smells almost medically clinical (but not medicinal, a note that doesn't bother me) or industrial-strength, to my nose, artificial and devoid of all warmth. I love "cold" florals, like lilies or violets (Cartier Baiser Vole or Guerlain Apres L'Ondee), and I love perfumes made "cold" by oakmoss (Guerlain Mitsouko or Estee Lauder White Linen), but I don't get along with Pleasures and her ilk.

sanakhanum

i like it. its floral and work friendly something one can wear to work meetings and important events and parties

Jasmine Joy

I had to return a perfume and I immediately thought of Pleasures as the perfect replacement. This is a very green, floral and refreshing perfume best worn during the day and in the spring and summer months. I first wore Pleasures back in the late 90's when my mother gave me my first bottle. It was a time when my love life was in limbo and I needed this beautiful smelling perfume to cheer me up. So it holds a very special place in my heart. Fast forward to today when I am now a happily married woman and I still can't forget this perfume so I convinced my husband to get me the biggest bottle even though I still have a barely used smaller bottle as my Valentine's gift this year. Definitely holding on for nostalgic reasons but also still enjoying this beautiful perfume after all these years.

Zaitseva

I can wear it in very moderate quantities otherwise I get suffocated. If I apply say a spray on my wrist and a spray on my neck it doesn't feel overpowering and I can even enjoy it. The dry-down is rather pretty, but I prefer more subtle scents when I can generously apply many spritzes and when I don't have to restrain myself. I just like the routine of applying a lot of perfume, it feels lavish. Pleasures has some rather off-putting notes for me of the flowers I don't like. I still wasn't able to figure out what these flowers are - (probably jasmine?), or maybe there's too much grass for my liking. Some people enjoy smelling freshly cut grass (this perfume has grass galore), but I have a sort of allergic reaction to it. I would highly recommend to all people who are unfamiliar with this scent to first get a 15ml bottle rather than diving right into it with a bigger size. It does smell like an old-fashioned perfume and definitely is not a blind buy. I was walking around this perfume for some time before actually buying it, but the actual experience of wearing it didn't live up to my expectations

GartenGnome

In my workplace, there is this lady who wears it and she’s one of my fave people ever. You have no idea how happy I am when I catch a whiff of this and I know my buddy is there. This fragrance reminds me of baby powder mixed with candy, I have no other way to describe it. It’s gorgeous and pretty and comforting.

ssamhita

I got Pleasures as a gift from my sister’s best friend nearly thirteen years ago. I still remember it, we were on our way back from the airport where we picked him up along with my sister. I was sitting next to him in the car, and as if he suddenly remembered it, he pulled the perfume out of his bag and handed it to me. I thought it was immensely cute of him - I mean, he didn’t need to get it for me but he still did. Truth be told I wasn’t very impressed with the smell. It was nice, sure, but it didn’t feel like it was for me. But I wore it all throughout winter, so much that Pleasures became the background score to my university days, my jackets and shirts smelling of it for days on end.

What would you know, I ended up marrying that best friend of my sister’s.

It had been a decade since I last smelled Pleasures, and having read Luca Turin sing its praises in his book, I wanted to revisit that familiar smell. Why had I not liked it as much? Is it really as special as Luca Turin makes it sound? So on the last day of the year, I asked my husband to get this for me - it felt symbolic somehow. Ending the year with the first perfume he ever gifted me.

That first whiff got me smiling. It was like greeting an old friend. And yes, I get how sparkly it is. It isn’t warm and inviting - no. It is almost intimidating, like that pristine elegant lady you see with her perfectly coiffed hair and manicured hands you appreciate from afar but don’t gather courage to go talk to. I am not into florals these days, but I will gladly make an exception for this one. On me I get a lot of cool green notes, and somehow it doesn’t really evolve a lot over time but sings a single harmonious note that isn’t jarring at all. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

cats_eye

Beautiful green, woody floral. This has one of the best patchouli notes ever! It's an ethereal, clean patchouli mixed with sandalwood and musk. The subtle floral notes of lily of the valley, rose and jasmine are contrasted with a bit of spice like carnation and a distinctive clover-y grassiness that lasts the entire time. Very long lasting. I always smile when I smell this on someone.

H_thur

I wish I could like this one like a lot of the reviewers here. Its very stomach turning for me, like acidic floral on my skin, and makes me want to gag. I haven’t seen it mentioned here, but Idole by Lancôme smells exactly the same on me…even though the notes are different. Such a shame.

Lindsconn

Pleasures is a very pretty, springtime, green and floral fragrance. It is incredibly feminine and the sort of fragrance you would wear to a wedding. It’s non offensive, office friendly and a safe blind buy as long as ultra feminine florals are your thing.

coffeefifofum

What others find crisp and fresh reads sharp and acrid on my skin. I give Pleasures credit for being dynamic - the sharpness dies back and becomes more powdery - but it's not a scent journey I've enjoyed. They've taken many traditionally soft, feminine notes and created a business suit floral blend. However, I don't want to smell like I'm about to foreclose on the local rec center in an 80s movie. (Yes I know it came out in the mid-90s and there's a bit of that vibe too, but saying I don't want to smell like Courtney Cox in Scream doesn't quite cover it with this fragrance, although it's not all wrong either.)

justcheckinout

The opening is a crisp green apple note with some lilies beneath on me, although it's not listed here. Could it be the green notes and the red berries notes? After 15 minutes or so, lily-of-the-valley makes its presence, and dominates for about an hour until rose becomes the major one. It dries down to a somewhat sweet musky scent. The longevity and sillage is pretty damn good, I tested it on my bare arm, and I can smell it through my jacket two hours after I sprayed it lol. This is literally a blooming bouquet in your face

la.femme.scent

I purchased a 1 oz bottle of Pleasures EDP for $20 at Marshall's a couple days ago. Estee Lauder fragrances don't typically appeal to me to me, for some reason, but I heard that this smells similar to Ralph Lauren's Romance (in the original formula). So I tested it out at on a strip Ulta and it was true, the two smell very much alike. Remembering that I had seen it at Marshall's for a lot less prior (but passed it up) I decided to to get it there when I saw it, and so I did.

Therefore, I wore it all day yesterday and the fragrance is really nice, very fresh, and floral, mainly white florals and a little green and even dewy. I think what I mainly get is lily of the valley, maybe a hint of rose and slight musk, but very clean. Perfect for Spring, but good for the daytime, also. Inoffensive but a little too boring for me, even a little cold or flat.
It's missing something that Romance had, and I think that's a more musky musk, that's clean but a little dirty, like slightly anamalic but contained.

Anyway, Pleasures is not bad but, if you like florals, especially white florals, you may like this especially for easy everyday use, but I think there are better ones on the market, but this is pretty good for the price, if you get it at a discount. Definitely test it out first.

vrinsun

The only thing i smell is JASMINE 👎

Kittykittybangbang

I love this. This is a hyper realistic floral bouquet. With stems and all. This is exactly what I wanted when I envisioned a “green floral” fragrance. It’s just fresh, almost dewy. This is definitely not for everyone, not a safe blind buy- but I don’t find that this smells vintage or old. it just smells photorealistic. No warmth in this fragrance but it isn’t cold either.

gigijolie

I wore this back in the '90's when it was unique and I loved it. I bought a very inexpensive bottle at Marshal's recently. It's not the same as I remember but close enough. I still enjoy wearing it. Projection and longevity are good on me. You can't say that for so many of the newer releases.

LSAUG

I smelled this at the department store in the mall when it came out back in the 90's. Oh those were the days when we had department stores.... Anyway I didn't like it but I was a lot younger then and thought I should give it another chance. Macy's.com had a kit w/ this, original Beautiful and the 2 I was most interested in Beautiful Belle and Bronze Goddess for $35. I needed some other things so I ordered it. Sad to say my opinion of this one has not changed. It smelled like lawn clipping then and it smells like lawn clippings now. So green you don't smell florals at all.

Laila C

So I’ve picked up a mini fragrance set of pleasures, beautiful belle beautiful and bronze goddess and I’ve sprayed pleasures and both the beautiful’s on my arms to test (I’m not bothering with Bronze Goddess because I’ve smelt it before and wasn’t wowed at all. So I will review pleasures as I smell it first and keep updating as it wears..
So first impression is that it’s nice. Nicely blended, no sharp edges but I’m not wowed by it. I think I’m not wowed because it smells far too clean for me at the is stage. It’s like a really posh bar of soap and there isn’t anything wrong with that, I know lots of people that love those type of scents but I like to get a little dirty and stay a little dirty. Too polished just doesn’t suit my personality but then I’m only half an hour in so I should give it more time to see how it changes I guess.
Edit: I now know what this reminds me of. Tommy Hilfiger. Again, nothing wrong with that but I’ve been there, done that and got the T-shirt. Pleasures is definitely not for me.. I tell you what though: beautiful and belle are both lovely.

rachelsedge

A bit disappointed in this. Ulta is having a sale on the largest size so I tested it in-store to see if it would be a good fit for me. I am disappointed because there is only one phase where I like how it smells, and I wish it stayed that way. I would have bought it if that was it's final form.

The initial spray is a bit sharp and very floral. I did not like it and couldn't wait to get back home to wash it off my arm. By the time I was done shopping, I went out to my car and smelled my arm again. It had transformed into a soft, powdery floral that smelled so nostalgic and wonderful. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, it morphed again into its final dry down (I assume). It lost its creamy, warm smell and now has a sour, almost bitter, scent to it? I can't quite figure out what it is. It's like stale potpourri. I really wish it had stayed in its middle stage, but on me, this just doesn't work for most of its life. I do not think this is safe blind buy.

Scentsywhatsky

This is a beautiful fragrance that has a lot of nostalgia and sentiment for me. I wore it on my first date with my high school sweetheart and my grandmother liked it so much on me that she got a bottle for herself. It takes me back to a sweet time in my life, falling in love for the first time and being able to walk across the street and visit my grandmother.

drdgs

Compared to EL florals like beautiful pleasures is a real disappointment. It is a somewhat generic floral fragrance - inoffensive but also nothing special. It simply lacks personality of any kind. I got it as a sample and won't be going for a bottle.

SallyGirl

Headache inducing, sharp, and has the magical powers to make me uncomfortable in my own skin. I can’t think of a time or place that I’d enjoy smelling this. It’s a no-go for me, power to ya if Pleasures works for you, but this is a extremely unwelcoming scent to my nose. I picture a cold and stoic older woman who’s lost her softness and is left with only rough bitter edges. She doesn’t tread lightly and hasn’t many friends either. Sorry not sorry.

Perfumedsecrets

Simply 90’s. I’m wandering through a spring garden in a pastel slip dress and matching cashmere cardigan. Barefoot and carefree. That’s the mood.

Lizabs68

Lovely scent.

dienle13

Got a bottle in my teens before I found out that I'm not your usual soapy floral kind of girl. Now, I'd describe Pleasures as clean but just a bit too heavy to be called fresh. Ordinary, unremarkable.

Lovaloo

Opens as a cold, clean, soapy floral bouquet with green touches. An edgeless interpretation of lily of the valley, peony, and lilac with other indistinct, abstract floral notes. It's quite pretty. Unfortunately on my skin it utterly falls apart. After about 20 minutes the florals are gone and I'm left with a vaporous watery green smell. It's oddly cucumber-y. Despite how rapidly the top & heart notes of the fragrance dissipate, the base lasts a lot longer than I expected, about 7 hours.

It's marketed as an EDP but in practice it functions as a cologne. Like most colognes, this is best when applied on clothing to keep getting whiffs of the beautiful opening throughout the day.

blossomka

6/10. Rose soap. A little sour and bitter with mild spice or herb. Rose overwhelms other tones initially. Then rose and sweetness subsides. Becomes more blended, generally floral and an underlying bitter tone. After three hours mild floral chypre. Sophisticated fragrance with several turns.

sunsetterxx

Sharp and Fresh floral. Starts fresh and very nice then turns a bit sharp about 2 minutes later.

prisahayes

Lovely. Most floral scents smell like a bouquet of flowers to me. This smells like the flowers still growing in the garden, surrounded by their greenery and the earth. It lasts forever, which a lot of florals can't match in longevity. You also can't beat the price.

bourcet

Your 90s posh bathroom. Brass rimmed shower with the fogged glass door. Triangular off-white soaker tub, nestled in the corner, spa jets on. Bars of Camay, bottles of Nivea, basket of potpourri on the counter. Your ideal 90s matriarch says Calgon, take me away. Peonies open and bloom like the pastel floral wallpaper, lilies climb like the ornamental faux ivy on the etagere. Home Improvement’s Jill Taylor definitely wore this.

perfumelovere

I can only go by the version from mid 2000's. To me it was the epitome of a floral bouquet. One of my friends wore it and I thought she carried this scent nicely. I could see how it might be sharp, green (celery like) and overwhelmingly floral for many. I read a few reviews that said it had been watered down :-( When I tried it in the earlier days this frag had major staying power.

JustRosy

I wanted so much to love this as the notes sound delightful but after several tries all I get is a bitter celery smell. I thought maybe it turned but after reading the reviews I'm not the only one smelling celery.

Lucritia darke

Absolutely dripping with gorgeous floral scents, smells just like a flower garden after the rain. It reminds me of wet Sunday afternoons when the sun comes out in the late afternoon, with just enough time to pop out for an hour to the park. This is white trousers, and a soft pink cashmere sweater, and a floral scarf. I love this scent, so beautiful and feminine.

Jacobean Lily

When I was a baby, crawling around on the floor, I found a box of Persil washing powder under the sink, while my grandmother was washing the dishes. I sat there stuffing handfuls of it into my mouth before anyone noticed, obviously delighting in its qualities (ended up in hospital, but was fine). All this to say, I must always have been sensitive to scent and enjoyed exploring its effects on me.

Pleasures is very much a clean adventure. A freshly watered garden on a cool day, with a clothesline festooned with linen, and a pepper tree nearby. This is the epitome of clean, warmed slightly by the pink pepper and red berries.

After 30 minutes I don't much like the fruitiness of those berries, but it works. The peppery fruit takes Pleasures out of the realm of snowy floral and into more of a soapy-bubble-bath-sipping-a-dewy-fruit-cocktail type of vibe. It's a little off-key, a little confused in its intention; innocent and fresh but keeping its options open.

Not a love - it's too polite and it smiles too much - but I have a 30ml bottle and I'll wear it now and again.

Haiku of the day

nice, white radiance
all my linen on the line

grapefruit352

Pleasures Estée Lauder for women does not gives me pleasure, unfortunately, although I really tried to enjoy that.:) There are some slightly rotten, unfresh, wet flowers there. Of course the compliment I must say- probably there are real natural extracts of those flowers there, because synthetics smells differently.

Alison333

During lockdown, I bought this online without ever having smelt it. I liked the idea of being transported to a fresh garden after spring showers. Unfortunately, I have to agree with Cheems that this smells (on me) like cheap soap. I keep coming back to the reviews here to see if I can find a way to love it, but so far I'm disappointed.

Balletflowers

My sister owned a bottle of this back in 2005, that was a beast mode, projected & lasted super long. So I picked it up recently from Macy’s. Has it been reformulated? Because it is super weak & watered down. I literally have to sniff exactly where I sprayed to detect it. I’m returning it, not worth the money. It sucks because I actually like the scent, floral, clean. Yes, the initial spritz is sharp but it settles & fades.

serenitynow

A very fresh, light, clean, floral. Whenever I smell it all I can think of are lilies. Tried the perfume at Dillard's because of the holiday promotion a few weeks ago, and didn't think to let it dry down (completely my bad, promotion got to my head!). Bought it and wore it the next day--just 2 sprays and it overwhelmed me. Friend liked the perfume but said I should try less. Great projection!! Now, onto the part that I don't like; the drydown. After maybe 2 hours, I lose all the florals and all I smell is this soapy, powdery scent that I can't stand. You can smell the cleaness at first, but with the florals it's pleasant, by itself is a biiiig no for me. I'd wear it every now and then, definitely not my favorite, but I don't hate it. I'll say that I like it. (This review is coming from a novice!)

Cheems

Has a salty / marine hint to it that reminds me of a Walmart hand soap… :(

gin42

I just bought the Estée Lauder Pleasures holiday gift set for myself today. I wore this when it first came out and recall it being a tad too peppery for my liking. I used up the bottle and forgot about this scent for over 20 years. I recently smelled it again, and let me tell you, it is DIVINE!!! I don’t know if it has changed, or my memory of it was off, but this might be one of the prettiest fragrances in my collection! So glad to have rediscovered it again🥰

aulialovegreen

a big almost retro bouquet of Lily, lots of Lily with some powdery background. Reminds me of a classic lotion or face cream our Mother used to wear.

missviv

I am not getting any of the notes others are mentioning in the reviews. All I can smell is curry and celery and I really dislike it. It seems to soften a little as it dries down, though. I will try wearing it a few more times just to see if it grows on me, but I think this one is going in the donate pile.

Madlenals

I love this perfume, but mainly because it reminds me of how my mom smells, and I haven’t seen her a year, so I might just purchase it for that reason.
The perfume smells very elegant and clean, a very classy everyday perfume.

Coquita

The two words that first come into my mind when I spray this are "lilies" and "sharp": the first 5 minutes are unbearable. However, it soon tames into a very well blended bouquet of dewy flowers. I can mostly smell the lily-of-the-valley, the lily and, the lilac. The projection is pretty nuclear (I'm testing a 90s sample), so spray with caution. I'd say it's best suited for spring and maybe summer days, as long as you go light on the trigger.
All in all, although it's not my taste, I can recognize it's been well crafted. It's a good frag for flower (especially lily and LotV) lovers.

6/10

justlikemagic

I like this. It's pleasant to wear. I believe I got it in a EL sampler of something a while back. It's not offensive by any means, but it lacks that certain spark I want to feel when I wear a perfume. Nothing wrong with it, but not full bottle worthy for me personally.

'florally10/16/20 18:19' , no its not your nose - Pleasures is not the same as the one in late 90ties. It was complex and rich in a sophisticated way. Today I bought a bottle after 2 decades and discovered that it is way too watered and only vaguely reminds of the original Pleasures, also the flowers are not so well balanced. Just very watered down flower solution...

An updated review. This used to be rainy-forest-in-a-bottle for me. But I now have a brand new bottle, and while it still opens with that lovely peppery, woody, rainy garden feel, now it dries down into a generic soapy musk (ambroxan?) with just a hint of the lovely florals (which are more prominent too). So disappointing. Could be my nose that's changed but my older bottle doesn't seem to dry down this way.

chelseamurdock

This is my mom’s ultimate favourite perfume. It’s a very clean, fresh and soapy white floral. It’s not my favourite, but it’s pretty. My honest opinion: it’s boring and it’s not something I have ever grown to love or would wear myself. I don’t hate it on other people though - it just smells way too pure and lifeless for me. A snooze fest of a fragrance. I even find the bottle design to be overly plain.

hippiechick13

This is such an easy to wear, easy to like fragrance... provided you don't douse yourself in it.

It's really lovely, fresh, uplifting, and has this 'something' about it - a little soapy but also green (in what I think is quite a sexy way) - I only came to really appreciate the latter while at an evening event earlier in the year, and a woman next to me had something on, and I was getting the most wonderful drifts of it now and again. I had to ask her what it was, and when she mentioned it, I was so surprised, but developed a newfound appreciation for it.

It's stunning, clean, and versatile, and I think I am going to make it my daily fragrance for work and play.

Malita6623

Great fragance, great performance. Day wear. Happy scent.

lemmenkukka

Been in my wardrobe since 1995. Very nice, all day every season fragrance. I find this both green and floral. A strong like. Allways come back to this one when cant't decide what should I wear. This is sort of an ageless perfume, not offensive. Crispy, uplifting, reliable, fresh. When I want something softer one, I end up wearing Laura or Miracle :)

pattirose

A friend regifted a big bottle of this to me. She received it as a gift, but she doesn't wear perfume. Unfortunately, it makes me think of everything Avon makes (they all smell alike and cheap). So I don't wear this one on my skin, I put it in my clothes dryer. But I do totally love and wear Cinnabar and Youth Dew!

SeauxGood

Oooh, oooh, oooh... Pleasures by Estée Lauder is one of my favorite scents! I first got introduced to it in high school. I had this rich, Iranian classmate who always had the chic-est clothes and wore better fragrances than most of the adults on campus! Just sitting next to her at the lunch table was divine. Pleasures’s robust floral bouquet is prime femininity on Level 10. A perfect fragrance for springtime events like weddings and proms, or even as a Mother’s Day gift.

The pink pepper, red berries, and green notes frame the florals in a very clean manner, so that they are well balanced but are still the stars of the show. The sandalwood, musk, cedar, and patchouli dry down also help to ground this scent in an earthy base and make it really stick to the skin. I love both the longevity and the sillage on this one. My bottle is close to empty. I hope they haven’t toyed with it too much since the last time I bought it, because I definitely plan to get more soon.

LadyLicorice

this came out ages ago and it smells classic. this is truly a beautiful classic summer wedding perfume. although its very green and reminds me of a wet lush flower bed, the color this invokes is white. clean, crisp, business.

Cita

This was a blind buy ani do t know what really made me buy it beside the fact I wanted something different then what I normally go for i more of a fruity fresh scent so first let me say I love it and hate it all at the same time it smell like a bouquet of flower in a powdery room and I don’t mind powdery scent either but this caught me buy surprise it is very strong at first and then clam down but let get in to it I had brought at lunch break at work I open it put it on I thought wow this is flowery and thought maybe I have to adjust to it well I got in my boyfriend car and he ask me what I was wearing I was like hmmmm maybe it’s good to try thing even if at first off putting he like it right no the next thing was it smell like an old lady I told him I just brought it and he said it grand ma perfume I did get that vibe to but it’s nice lovely grand ma scent it’s just something you except a young girl in her 29 to wear I have to say I think that’s what I love it does smell like a grand ma and can be comforting it’s not a date scent there nothing sexy about it it’s just nice a scent I that if they have it when I reach grand ma age I will wear

missviv

Can't say I enjoy this one. Smells very much like curry mixed with lily of the valley, a combination that does NOT agree with my nostrils.

Anamandy

Oh, how I love this fragrance! I was out to dinner a few weeks ago (it's so nice to finally be getting out!!!) and a lady came into the restaurant who smelled fantastic. Of course, being the perfumista that I am, I just had to ask what she was wearing. I was shocked when she told me Pleasures. For some strange reason I always thought this was just a generic smelling floral, but boy was I wrong. It is such a bright, full-bodied scent. It's hard for me to pick out any particular notes. It doesn't smell like individual flowers, where I can say, I smell a rose, or I smell a lilac. Maybe others can do that, but I don't seem to be able too. It's more like walking into a garden and smelling all the flowers wth their greenery at once, or rather, smelling the whole garden at once. It also has a very clean and refreshing quality to it, as if an icy cold rain had just passed through on a hot day.

While I love Estee Lauder's Beautiful, which is also another lovely floral, I find it not appropriate for everyday wear - at least for me. I wouldn't be schlepping around town in that scent but would reserve it for an occasion. I find Pleasures more versatile, whether wearing it with t-shirt and jeans, or to a dressy evening affair. Sophisticated, but casually elegant is how I would categorize this fragrance. I also think it is appropriately named. It really is a pleasure to wear. It certainly makes me feel happy just wearing it. With beautiful silage, fantastic longevity, and very reasonable prices, what's not to love?! So glad I managed to snag a vintage bottle of this lovely perfume. I love it!

aminadiouf

Beautiful, charming, classic and elegant but maybe more sharp than what you'd expect. Lily-of-the-valley has this certain spiknyness and you can see it shine in 2000s fragrances like this of l'Eau d'Issey; and it gives quite a raw walking-in-the-garden vibe.

If that's what you're looking for go ahead but if you prefer more dainty elegance, don't overspray.

Something like Bvlgari's Omnia Crystalline is a great alternative if you want something similar but less sharp (and look! It's an Alberto Morillas too), Crystalline stays less longer though.

mintycharm

This was gifted to me about a decade ago and I only wore it once or twice before it sat on the shelf collecting dust, then got trashed.

To me, it SCREAMED green floral. It was very sharp, unnaturally peppery and airy/earthy. If you like super loud 90s florals, you might like this. The sillage and longevity were just out of this world. Use with an extremely delicate hand.

Overall, not an awful scent but just intolerably sharp for me. Probably should be used only in spring/summer.

D&gredcap

It’s such a shame the reformualtion on this one. I used to love it and now it’s like a bathroom cleaner with not silage. The Made in US version years ago was stunning

Pandarapt

Lilacs in the snow and your grandmother’s classic white soap but from a better retailer with beautiful handcarved peonies, functionally clean but ornamentally pretty and several cuts above your average floral. It is a winter metal shield against the hot glow of summer, the tropics or bad humour - it chills.

Austrian_in_Denmark

Pleasures is so romantic and pretty-pretty-pretty. My nose can pick out the lily-of-the-valley. The rest smells delightfully but undefinably of spring flowers. Strong in the beginning, medium longevity.

As much as I like it, I find it difficult to wear, because nowadays we are so used to sweet fruitchoulis, and Pleasures is a far cry from this. It truly is an I-wear-perfume-perfume.

I like the campaigns of women in flower fields. What a relief to see that perfume is not automatically linked to sexual desire. I do enjoy man-eater scents à la Tom Ford, but I am a little tired of sex being used in ads. Seriously, it cannot be the ONLY thing that sells.

One note on the durability: Pleasures and Pleasures Delight are almost the only perfumes in my collection that ever went bad. I am surprised by this, because I have a high opinion of the quality of Lauder's perfumes.

mariceltroitino

Very dated and classic "perfumey" smell, as everyone has said. Still nice for an out of the shower vintage feel, though I would most likely not wear it for another situation since I'm a little young for it, but could see my mom wearing it out. Very good longevity and moderate sillage. I smell the violets the most but also the lily I guess.

juniemoon

This was my signature and only fragrance for years before I started branching out to over a hundred others! But today I'm wearing it again and still love it so much and appreciating how beautiful, simple, fresh and clean it is. No wonder it is still a best seller.

I've had my bottle for almost seven years now. I've stored it carefully and it still smells fabulous and fresh! A perfect fragrance for a glorious, sunny spring day like today! What a mood booster, just what I needed.

KittyDeBeauvoir

I can't say what hasn't already been said about Estee Lauder's "Pleasures":

It absolutely is a lovely, slightly-dated, fresh early-morning green floral perfume. :)

I usually get a bit nervous when the term "green" is thrown around. Green is *too* woodsy / sharp / herby for me. Generally, not something I'm inclined to.
Happily, this perfume is different. I think those other "green perfumes" are too synthetic. This is such fresh-green-delightful-morning-hazy-sunshine-and-flower goodness.

I've been wearing this off-and-on for 10 years. No complaints here.
It's also one of my husband's favourite's. Without fail, this is one of the few he can recognise (olfactorily) after I waltz into the room - "You're wearing that one I like!".
Yes, dear. :)

An oldie, but a goodie.

Kitty rating: 8/10.
Hubby rating: 8/10 (More than 7/10 is Perfume Perfection to him).

It does indeed smell identical to BU Wild by Sarantis but at the same it is a more refined version of that one. You can literally smell the flowers in this one. It smells like a bouquet of flowers (mostly lilac) and nothing else. I've always wanted to find a perfume that smells like real flowers and I've found it. It does indeed have a retro feel to it but it is incredible! Impossible to dislike. One of my new favorites.

raiza1990

A fresh green floral. A bit warm at the opening then a bit powdery. It’s a good choice for spring, but smells a bit dated. It’s not bad, it’s pleasant, but not the best in this genre.
If you like fragrances like Omnia Crystaline you will probably like this.
To me it smells like the first morning hours, when the flowers are still wet and the sun is still shy.
Try it if you are looking for a soft spring floral.
Final note: 8/10

rainfairy

I used to wear this perfume in my twenties. My cousin gifted this to me on my birthday. This is very strong when you first spray it. The dry down is a beautiful soft sweet floral. I can definitely smell the jasmine. The jasmine in this perfume reminds me of the sampaguita flower in the Philippines. It is the true sambac jasmine scent. This can be worn in the spring, summer and fall, day and night. It's a mature feminine scent. It smells beautiful. I imagine a woman in a summer dress wearing this perfume. It is sophisticated. I like it. The longevity is quite good. It lasts all day. This is one of those classic perfumes back in the day.

This review is for a 2019 bottle of Pleasures

Pleasures is, in my opinion, a very casual, easy to wear, out of the shower fragrance.`This is one of those fragrances where the bottle is symbolic of how the fragrance inside smells: clean, minimal and crisp.

When first sprayed I get a blast of green, watery notes, possibly the Muget and Lily and theres also a strong woodsy note from the cedar, which is similar to the cedar that is in Pure White Linen, also by Estee Lauder. When the woodsy green notes settle down, I can smell Baie rose (Pink pepper), lilac, there is a definite violet leaf note in here and I can also pick out a very, very mild rose undertone which helps to knit all the floral notes together, after an hour I am left with a fresh spicy green violet with a small dusting of sandalwood, which smells absolutely fantastic.

Silage is moderate; strong enough to gather compliments but not so strong that it would fumigate a bus (though, I am light handed on the sprayer!) Longevity is also very good; it lasts me all day from 8:30am to 6:30pm

Although Pleasures was released nearly 24 years ago, it still smells contemporary and doesn't feel out of place, I'm in my early 20's and I rock this one (according to my friend), I do wish I could get my hands on Pleasures Aqua to get a taste of what Pleasures with extra aquatic notes would be like, but, I'm also itching to try Pleasures Intense too!

Not too sure if I'd repurchase, but I do quite like this one, its very much in a similar vein to Lancome Miracle, which I also love. Excellent job, EL!

imoore

I have a bottle from the year it was introduced, the woody earthy dry down is pretty decent in a chypre woodsy kind of way. The newer formulation lucks some basenotes, the dry down is just soapy mess. It is marketed as real thing but it is not. Try and try vtg see yourself and buy vtg!

aegi

this is a screechy soapy green fragrance with some old-fashioned florals in it. i think of 'metallic clean shampoo' with a sophisticated mature twist. i get old-fashioned vibes- it doesn't have that "modern" quality most fragrances have nowadays- and I suppose this is what makes it a classic . might be difficult to pull off during casual occasions as it's heavily perfume-y, and if you're around people with the slightest sensitive noses it might be a tad too much.

Ariella_essenzia_lux

One of the oldies I used to enjoy wearing back in the day. I bought another 1.7 oz just to bring back some memories. It is still beautiful but not what it used to be. My batch is from Jan 2019 and it isn't as potent as it used to be. This scent used to fill up the entire room but no more. Its definitely reformulated but it is still beautiful.

DrRosie

Prior to knowing what I know know about fragrances, I used to wear this in the 90's and loved it. I think I have outgrown this scent, I do not have much use for it now except to use it as a bedtime fragrance. For some reason this perfume calms when I put it on before bed.

It was a beautiful fragrance and will forever remain beautiful.

Jmalone84

Even though this fragrance is from the 90s and sells absurdly cheaply these days I have to say just how impressive it is that it smells just the same, same excellent quality etc as it did when I first fell in love with it. This is such a classic now. Living in the Southern Hemisphere, I’m happy to be reviewing my old favourite again close to Christmas, as this is the nostalgia it triggers for me. I remember my sister wearing this around Christmas time more than a decade ago, and it still triggers the impression of pine needles and citrus for me.

Strangely this seems to offend some apparently, but what I smell is clean, white bitter flowers and cut grass. A few sprays to the wrist lasts all day. And you don’t smell like everyone else. This is such a recognisable fragrance, and on the odd occasion that I do recognise it on someone, I feel a closeness to that person as if they were my family. What I love most is how much of a pleasure it really is to experience, that fresh bitterness it has is like an excellent IPA (beer) on a hot summer’s day- it’s almost a visceral experience of a slaked thirst. Reminds me of daisies and happy times. And the bottle is so simple and pretty. I’ll always love this.

MadamNijinsky

When my great aunt died, I wound up getting some of her stuff, including an unopened set of sample perfumes (this one included, along with very typical stuff like Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds, Calvin Klein's Eternity, and Davidoff's Cool Water). Most of them were white florals and had a definite "old lady" smell, but since I was in high school at the time and didn't know any better I kept them thinking they would make me seem classy. :P

This was the only one that I really used, but I didn't particularly like it. It is very perfume-y (it is obvious to everyone that you are wearing a perfume, if you know what I mean) and has a certain falseness to it. People who like perfumes may enjoy it, but if you don't generally like smelling like something that specific and obvious then I don't recommend this (or any of the other perfumes included in the sampler).

marinaw90

I'm not quite sure why I had such high expectations for this. I read the reviews here thinking it would be utterly amazing, but it was just simply 'nice' and that's it. I guess in 1995 it was a departure from the heavy orientals of the previous decade so perhaps it is of its time.

I've come to realise I don't get on very well with perfumes described as 'bouquets' of flowers where it's a floral mish-mash and no one floral note seems to resonate more than the other. These blends leave me cold and 'meh'. Pleasures is like that. It is clearly blended very well so I do give it credit there, but it just doesn't excite me. It needs more direction, more punch.

Office-friendly and non-offensive for sure. It is also low sillage to my nose, so wear this to work or church and you'll be fine. But Pleasures wouldn't be one I would reach for over a perfume with a more prominent and distinguished floral note.

annxyz

Pleasant scent that does not last long at all.

MaungmaungJoe

See the commercial pic of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing white dress, holding white puppies and sitting in the garden? This perfume will make you think you are like that!
One of the most beautiful floral perfumes I've worn. It was light and feminine. Unfortunately it did not last long on my skin. Plus, just 2 hours it went to be skin scent.

mevans

Floral and green are right. It's opening is very green. It's lovely though. Then it transitions into more florals and they take over. The green hangs in there in the background. The musk, sandalwood and cedar provide a discreet base. Very, very nice. A wonderful summer fragrance because its so light and clean smelling. I don't want to say soapy because it doesn't smell cheap in any way.

ViouAmara

I had the fragrance many years ago, as I a became a young mother, I wore it during more than 10 years every day without even searching the notes. It was just light, clean, beautiful and green enough to please me.
It was a hard and beautiful time, working full time to get money enough, taking care of everything, the house, the kids, never a minute for me, but it was not a bad time at all, I had no reason to mourn.
I bought this bottle thinking about this memories.
I quite never use it anymore. But it has still this beautiful, this translucent joy, like the little things you do not notice because it's just the scent of life. Of course I get now the lilies, peonies, lilac, and even some rain notes. But in fact, this is simply the smell of our gardens, here.
A few gentle drops behind the ears and that’s it.

Albiretu

I finally purchased a 30 ml bottle of this and I'm just oh so happy. I will be purchasing a full size bottle soon I believe. This one has been on the list for a minute. It's so lovely, I can't imagine anyone not liking this. It's a clean floral scent, it's a little bit soapy and very fresh. The main note for me is lily of the valley; it's like an infinite green lily of the valley field after the rain mixed with peony, lilac, and other pretty flowers.
A lovely fragrance, ethereal, perfect for any occasion.

Xsarabee

I've never had this fragrance though I've loved it more than twenty years (and I did have a bottle of Pleasures Moon Lily some time in the '90s) but yesterday I finally purchased a bottle as I saw it on sale. It's lovely, it's elegant, bursting with flowers I love: lilies of the valley, lilacs, peonies. It's not loud, it's not screaming "look at me, I'm here, I've arrived" but tenderly whispering in the background "I'm lovely, and the person wearing me is lovely because I make her so". After all these years, this is bliss. :)

mirena.1

Verry sharp and soapy on my skin. It lasts 4-5 hours in warm day. I love flower fragrance but this is not for me.

AnitaHendricks

Peony is a strong note in this perfume! I don't like peony at all so I'm not the right person to judge this scent. It's strong! A little goes a long way.

NessS

Grassy floral and soapy. Elegant. It’s nice but I’m looking for something a little sweeter.

lrnonken

A very soapy, light moderate projection through 5 hours, in 6hrs turning to a faint skin scent that lasts 12 hours (on a hot summer day)

sweetongene

Nostalgia. This was my first perfume purchase. I ran out and bought it after smelling it at the house I babysat at. This was 1995 and I was 22. Up to then I never cared for women's perfume. I didn't grow up with it. My mom didn't wear it. It wasn't on my radar. I preferred men's cologne. To me, perfume just meant rose scents. And I guess at the time I didn't care too much for rose. I found Pleasures unusual and so pretty. I was totally ignorant of what I was even smelling. I never tried to discern the notes.I don't think I ever looked at the notes. I just knew I liked it. Eventually I outgrew Pleasures and gave away my bottle. Anyhow, flash forward, I recently had a nostalgic yearning to smell it again and got a little sample. It's so nice. Now being more sensitive to notes and structure I realize why I had been so attracted to it: it's the peony and the lilac. It amuses me that I never connected these notes to my initial attraction. Lilac and peony were outside my window as a kid. These days, I'm not going to wear it except at bedtime. I find a teeny-tiny dab keeps me sniffing for nostalgia's sake. But if I put on anymore than a dab, pretty as it is, I quickly tire of it.

RuthRose

I smelled this perfume today, the first time for over 20 years, I had forgotten all about it.

It is floral, fresh and feminine. I remembered today my boyfriend from my early twenties bought me a bottle of this as a present. Smelling it reminded me of being young and gorgeous again!

This is a day time scent, it's pretty and innocent. I'm not sure if I'd ever wear it again, I feel too old for it now.

Ivyswirl

I love this deeply. Perhaps not for it's scent as much as the memories and the sheer nostalgia!

At 15 my best friend and I had this in bath fizzy form and we used it for sleepover footbaths and the smell of it reminds me of the days where you're almost an adult but without all the terrible bits! You have a long term relationship without the later hangups you acquired over the years, you cook but you don't have to pay for the food. You stay up late and gossip but it's an easy short day the next day. Yet it's all so poignant and full of feelings! That's why this reminds me of,

It smells like the clean feeling of your skin after a bath with fancy scented soap and the simple comforts of home and fluffy towels. No, it's not sexy but I suspect I'll always have a bottle as it's the best comfort and cheer I know.

indigo

Pleasures is soapy, very soapy - as in old fashioned Persil washing powder, laundry detergent type soapy - & I'd say undefined "abstract" florals. I think you need the nose of a bloodhound to pick out any individual floral notes in this. Maybe my nose isn't that great, but I can't really identify any at all if I'm honest. It has a very "man made" vibe, & doesn't smell like anything at all you find in nature (to me). I live a few miles away from a huge Lever factory & some days (when the wind is blowing in certain direction) the air smells just like Pleasures

Pleasures is like a perfume for people who just want to smell clean - & not of a perfume. I don't think it smells bad, but I find it lacking in personality/character. It's clinical, like a 90 degree hot wash in a bottle...& kind of "sterile". Released in 1995, & it does smell "of its time", imo - Also reminds me of Noa (similar era too) & I think anyone who likes Noa would like this one too. It's not horrible, but it's not my bag, it is strong though.. No balloons required here as it's just my own honest opinion, & as ever ymmv.

cedar_lea

I have to admit I was really skeptical about this perfume. Typically both lily of the valley and floral bouquets are recipes for a fragrance not working for me. However, a sample found its way to me so I waited for the right moment to give it a fair try.

It is surprisingly good. It does open with lily of the valley, but it's a very well behaved version. It fades in and out of the background and never takes over and tries to create soap-land. Floral bouquets tend to blend together and become a muddy soapy mess, but that doesn't happen here. The flowers are wonderfully rich and complex and the maintain some integrity. I get the impression of burying my nose in flowers. The green notes are very well done, as is the hint of berry to

There is a lot of green notes. Violet leaf is quickly becoming one my favorite accents to anything floral. It gives awonderful earthiness.

The most impressive was the longevity.

itskimn125

This is the perfect fresh cut dewy green floral that I have been looking for. It kinda reminds me of L’ombre by Diptyque; however, this is has better longevity. I absolutely love this one because it takes me to a dewy English morning in a Jane Austin novel where I have no cares in the world but the green garden around me.

What a gem!

meg0825

This is a very pretty springtime floral. Fresh peony, soapy lily-of-the-valley, and sweet lilac. A great fragrance for the office. I can't imagine anyone objecting to it. Lovely!

florally

When I wear Pleasures, I often wonder if there's something just really wrong with my nose. Because to me this is a gorgeous green pine forest after rain. Humid and crisp and green. No florals at all! I adore it, but it's not what everyone else seems to get. I'm not sure if it's the pink pepper + dewiness + cedar? It's not that my bottle has turned either -- I make a point of testing it in store when I can, and it's just the same.

In summary: I love this, whatever 'this' is that my brain perceives.

PS if anyone can shed light on why I get this gorgeous foresty impression from this fragrance, please feel free to PM me! I'd love to learn more.

violetbelle

Now one of my signatures...Pleasures somehow missed me in the 90's. Perhaps I was too hooked on Dior Dune to explore much of anything else. Pleasures is extremely feminine: bright, clean and smooth with just enough edge from pink pepper to round out what's a pretty perfect floral. (Is that enough p's?☺)

Metolord

My girlfriends new purchase.... I can get rose notes dominant in it and absolutely synthetic... like fragrant rubbers or candles which you sure smells synthetic ! But it’s not in bad way... you can easily use it causal or for daily usage... nothing special... safe one

cookygirl

Pleasures has been in my fragrance wardrobe for many years. It's not a favorite: frank florals are not really my thing. I wear it sometimes to please DH, who adores it on me and on the rare occasion that I crave something deeply floral.
So today I sprayed it on and then went for a brisk walk. It is a gorgeous fall day where I live - warmish in the bright sun and cool in the shade. There are leaves underfoot and a crisp freshness in the air, cleansed by recent rains after a prolonged hot and dry summer.
What can I say? I kept on getting whiffs of this as the breeze bounced off of me and it was lovely! In this weather, warmed by the gentle sun but tamed by the coolish temperature, the crisp, green aspect predominated and cut the floral sweetness to just the right degree. It was the perfect reflection of the day, captured in a bottle.

Ms Floral Turbo

What a wonderful bouquet of flowers this perfume is.
I have had this original Pleasures continuously since it first came out about 15 years ago, and I still love it.
Sillage is very good, plus the longevity is about 8-12 hours.
It is floral and romantic with bursts of roses and peonies - just like walking into a florist's shop.
I can recommend this to anyone who loves a genuine floral fragrance.
I will keep buying it, and I hope they never stop making it.

giuseppe98gp83

In what looks like a simple bottle of perfume, the goddess of love is hidden, a flowery meadow crossed by a stream of soft, crystalline water. A couple who hugs, caresses and gently kisses. She: Pale face and divine features. He: Proud and self-confident. Caress it with a lily before kissing it again, again and again. Smiles, intense looks and sensuality. All this is Pleasures.
P.S. Sometimes it recalls Acqua di Giò for women (1995)

ishouldbebetterthanthis

Celery seed and soap! It's a perfect kitchen with chopped herbs but no onion, and fresh tea towels but no bleach. It's floral without a speck of sweetness. The epitome of 90s bland chic? Maybe, but it's new to me, and I like it.

damien_555

I use Pleasures since at least 15 years now. I always get compliments on it.
I love love love it.
Thank you Estee Lauder for one of the best fragrances in this world.

Phantomias

Pleasures is powerful and lasting. It opens with sharp lilies and lily of the valley notes. Both flowers can be a bit much, especially when combined. As other reviewers have mentioned, P. is quite soapy.
On me the scent doesn't change much, Pleasures remains a strongly artificial floral perfume. It's not bad by any means, but it's definitely different from the EL scents I've used so far. Sharp green fragrances can be difficult ...
My favorites are Youth Dew and Cinnabar, so it's no surprise Pleasures would puzzle me ... I'll try it out a little longer, maybe I can learn to love it.

Tajwer Shamsi

Pleasures is a perfume that takes you to away to an enchanted meadow of white flowers. It's the most genuine floral scent I've ever tried and is best suited for women twenty and above. It's light, airy, fresh and wonderfully feminine.

sibaraa

The names fits the fragrance. A melody of all florals white, purple, red all dancing togetheron a bed of green garden. Pure perfection, don't overspray it!

Frogopolis

To appreciate this fragrance, you have to understand that back in 1995, it blazed a trail and started a trend that continues to this day (which is why Pleasures now smells so generic and uninspired to many people). A perfume that smelled clear, sparkling, and immaculately clean from top to base? That was revolutionary at the time. Pleasures burst onto a scene previously dominated by heavy-hitters like Giorgio, Angel, Amarige, and Tresor and left everyone speechless.

When Pleasures came out I was a struggling young adult working for a small magazine, and none of us could afford a bottle. One day, someone got a sample from the perfume
counter and wore it. As she sashayed down the hall (in her ‘90s brown pantsuit and blocky heels, of course) we all went, “Wow! Smells like the best bubble bath EVER!”

I promptly became obsessed with the stuff, and I do still have a bottle
In my collection that gets regular use. Pleasures is shimmering, soapy, rain-drenched flower petals. It is not the slightest bit sweet— which is exactly the point. I don’t love it as much as I once did, but it is a wonderful olfactory palate-cleanser to wear now & again when you tire of sweet or spicy fragrances. It is my husband’s favorite on me but I find it too boring for everyday wear.

If you purchase this, I recommend a small bottle, kept in the fridge at all times. The juice is fragile and yellows quickly, lending an unwelcome weedy/pissy note. The juice should be perfectly clear when you purchase it.

this is my mom's ultimate favorite perfume. But i really hate it because the floral scent is way too strong that i sometimes feel nauseous

This perfume was given to me as a gift. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Too sweet, strong smell of flowers but most of all, this perfume reminds me of old ladies perfume. Nothing against old ladies of course, is just that I find this perfume too overwhelming.
If you’re into fresh fragrances like me (DG light blue, bvlgari Omnia Crystalline, Creed virgin island water, CK ONE kind of vibe...) just RUN AWAY from this perfume.

I want to hate this bloody fragrance, with its insipid name, widespread popularity and uninspired bottle... and yet, it is the closest I've come to a signature.

Every time I pick it up (which isn't often, given the aforesaid hatred), I am struck by the wet, crispness of its beauty. It really does smell like what you imagine fresh rain on a field of Jasmine should smell like. No cloying sugar, no overpowering cacophony of flowers, just pure white elegance.

My favorite thing about it is that it is so chemical - its harsh and slightly startling, contradicting its name and curves, and I like that. Maybe if it was called Pain and came in a square bottle I wouldn't have relegated it to my top shelf.

Damn annoyingly perfect juice.

Pleasures is a bouquet of predominantly white flowers. It’s high pitched like white pigeons soaring in air, with pigeon whistles. I cannot clearly tell apart many of the notes. I get lily of the valley and lilac. It’s dewy fresh, perfect for daytime wear, and sophisticated enough for a dressy event at night. The sillage is soft on me, or perhaps I’m anosmatic to it. It’s a beautiful scent, but does not stand out amongst others in the same category.

Kanz Oman

The most scent i get asked about when i wear it. Fresh, classic & all time safe to use.

The dry down of Pleasures which is present on those scented sample cards that still come in Ulta sale magazines is quite nice, but I can't tolerate the opening long enough to get to that point on my skin (total scrubber). It's too sharp, screechy, green (I blame the LOTV and other vague 'green' notes for this part) and peppery (I blame the pink pepper for this part) for me to enjoy. If those three notes were to disappear from this, it would actually be a pleasure for me to wear it...

I blind bought this about a year ago when I just started getting into perfumes. It was stupid because it is nothing like the fragrances I typically love (oriental vanillas, florientals). Honestly I only bought it because a character in a book I read wore this as her signature.

Anyhow! When I first tried it my initial reaction was "boring!" and I put it away in my drawer. I have now just recently started a new job beside school and this is actually perfect for it. Very inoffensive (once it settles!!) and beautifully blended. It's a clean and neutral fragrance, nothing I'd wear when I want to make a statement. I wasn't around for the 90's but this smell very much 90's-like to me. It does hold up though but I don't think it could have been released today with the same success as it had in '95.

LOTV, lilac and rose are very strong notes on me. I usually can't stand patchouli but I don't even detect it in this scent even though it's listed on here which makes me happy. The opening is kind of screechy and loud but that seems to be a theme with these floral, green scents on me. Give it half an hour at least before you judge it. Not a safe blind buy in my opinion but it's available in most stores to sample.

Sorry, but it is a dislike for me.
To my nose, this feels like a sharp cleaning agent or laundry detergent.
If I can't get rid of it, I might try it out as a room spray, but wearing it on my wrist simply annoys me and is starting to give me a headache.

Clean, dewy, pleasant. One of the ultimate spring florals. This is a classic. It's more complex than it seems, and is very well balanced. Lots of LOTV and peony and lilac, but not screechy or too soapy smelling, just lovely.

Every review and interpretation seems different and I think it’s because there is so much going on in this floral! I find it also takes a long while to dry down on my skin and weaves an interesting story while it gets there! For me it’s hard at times to pinpoint the exact notes I’m smelling as they dance around together. It to me smells like a garden of many types of Spring flowers - sunny, fresh and bright. The green notes are quite strong and balance out the sweetness, while also giving it a natural (rather than artificial) floral accord. It’s like I’ve rubbed a bouquet on myself. The two notes my nose consistently picks up on most in this are strong lily and lilac, both in the realistic sense (I have one growing in abundance in my garden and another frequently in my home for comparison). I also get some lily-of-the-Valley (not as strong for me as for other reviewers perhaps) and true geranium (different!), and the occasional waft of another rich, honey-like floral that I cannot place or name. I very much like Pleasures and have worn and owned it on and off since the early 2000s. It’s not quite as lovely as I remember it, but I do think it’s one of the most enjoyable and complex florals I’ve tried.

I imagine the Great french pianist Elisabeth Sombart wearing this ecxquisite perfume! It is as if you listen the Spring Waltz of Chopen while you smell the beautiful simple notes of it.It is very happy perfume. To me it represent a mix of simplicity, romance, beauty, art, literature, classical music, all in one. Is a noble simple, clean scent.Very very beautiful perfume!
