berimari

this was my mom’s signature fragrance, so it holds a special place in my heart <3

CyanM

I like this, for what it is, but it lasted literally less than an hour until there was nothing left, not even a skin scent. Normally I try to give my impressions as it fades down, but in this case it was very short and linear: It smelled exactly like strong, tart lemonade. I don't get basil or lime or even lemon, just, like, Minute Maid lemonade. This must be a bizarre reaction to me because I see others talking about patchouli, and there are some florals listed and so on, but I get fleeting lemonade. (ETA: My spouse smells lemon cleaning products. Yikes! This definitely does not play well with my skin.)

meowwin

aggressive citrusy anise. it smells like malice so i guess it leans masculine. the 10ml dabber bottle is adorable though

D@ne

Standard EDC. Dries down to a familiar patchouli accord, not miles away from Nicolai's Patchouli Intense, without the intensity...which is where the problem lies - it was probably once satisfying, but is now so watered down that it's almost imperceptible.

Even 4711 has juicy topnotes - this barely has any smell at all.

Bottle is disappointingly cheap. The cap is impossible to take off and after a few struggles it broke. So disappointing I tossed it in the trash.

After wasting money on this and the current Tocade, which smells terrible, the house of Rochas is no longer worth paying attention to.

Buy vintage or don't bother.

xababyxaforluv

Smells like a cup of lemon sorbet on a tropical getaway, plain and simple!

kristina_m

The memories it brings back from my first bottle in 1993 are so sweet. The top notes dissipate very quickly to a delicate powdery spicy vetiver. I smell licorice and patchoulli. It's versatile -- light enough for a teenager but not too young for a woman at any age. I can't really imagine men wearing this, though. Not sweet at all. Definitely savory. It gets a 10/10 for me if you're looking for a light, vintage, spicy scent.

COLOREDGIRLSHUFFLE

Oh g-d this is green citrus patchouli perfection. I blind bought this on a whim and my g-d this is what “clean”, fresh and invigorating fragrances should smell like. I love love love this. I bought the EdT so it’s so faint and light when it dries (still delightful) - I will search for an EdP or if I get lucky, an extrait.

Robinfv

Nice, fresh casual scent, surely unisex. Nothing special though, a bit dated, just as the bottle. There are surely nicer freshies on the market. The mens version is far more superiour.

Snowleox

Beautiful timeless, but disappears minutes after spraying!

jazzfan

This is delicious. In gin and tonic kind of way, not pink coctail with umbrella kind of way.
Something to wear for your adult self all year round. And there is still body care to go with.
Summer winner. Love it!

MsAd89

This was my mother's signature fragrance for many, many years. Whenever I smell it, I immediately remember my childhood and maternal hugs. For me this scent is still 100% her. And you will wonder why she no longer uses it? Well, the reformulations that it has undergone over the years have practically destroyed it, because although the aroma is quite the same as the original, the longevity and sillage it has is much lower, there must be a drop in quality involved, since years ago it was a very expensive fragrance and today it could even be considered affordable compared to the global price hike in designer perfumery. My mother asked us not to gift it to her anymore, because she no longer perceives the fragrance as ot used to be. Apart from aplying it to her skin, she sprayed it on her clothes and accessories and all her possessions had this scent, the fragrance lasted for days, leaving the entire closet impregnated. Instead, she says that now after two or three hours she no longer perceives anything at all, not even putting it on her clothes. It makes me sad, because although I have no intention of using it, since it is a fragrance that I identify with her, I know that now I am not going to smell it when she is around and it is because of the poor performance that it currently has. A good alternative that is still cheaper and same type of scent is Zinnia, which I don't consider a clone, but its style is quite close.

RB2002

This is so beautiful. It smells like the 70s to me. When I was a small child, my mother had long hair, and wore it half down, half pulled back and semi-bouffant on top (like Anita Carters), and she wore polyester mini skirts or dresses & platform heels. This smells like those days to me. Not sure if she actually had this, but I must have smelled this on women around me, because it’s a comforting and familiar scent.

I have the modern day version, and I quite like it. You get the citrus, herbs & floral notes momentarily (where I get hit with that early childhood 70s nostalgia), and then it goes right to a soft, earthy and mossy oakmoss/ vetiver/ patchouli. I’m very sensitive to patchouli used in modern day perfumery, but here it’s very soft, light and natural smelling. I can see this working well for a man, also. Love the bottle, too.

*surprised to see this is associated with heat and summer, it seems more like a fall scent to me, for when the leaves are changing.

ViceCity

One of my mum's favorite fragrances, maybe the favorite. I like it too, it smells fresh and energising. Way better than its male equivalent. Very citrusy.

molly1217

Stronger citrus aromatic cologne, but without losing its refreshing essence. The ancestor of this structure is Dior Eau Sauvage.
Eau de Rochas quality exceeds the price.
The temperament of this work is purely masculine. In the use of patchouli, Eau de Rochas can be said to be unambiguous at all. The floral aroma is counterpoint to the woody aroma, and the clear civet base helps a lot of herbal elements such as basil. Coriander enhances the flavor, and also plays the role of adding a sense of spiciness, highlighting and emphasizing power. Very beautiful cologne.

Mystères du Château de Dé

I've taken to spraying this on almost every day, lately, and it cheers me up. It's sweet to my nose, nowadays in Spring. Maybe its filled with synthetics but it smells like nature, and it's calm, not conceptual. It's both grounding and upbeat.

dualaokto

Aromatic citrus. I smell bergamot, lime, basil, and coriander. Simple and pleasant, but nothing special. It’s a good use for recalibrating your nose after heavy sniffing marathon.

pronose

The original name was eau de Roche! This scent is unisex & it's a true masterpiece for hot summer days🏖️ a must to have for summer days! Love it ♥️

hadas

I am reviewing original "Eau de Roche" - or Rock Water - from the 1970s, before the name was changed to Eau de Rochas

The opening citrus is less bracing and hard-hitting than I was expecting. A blogger for the fragrance referred to Eau de Rochas as having a "soft landing," and I think that's accurate.

It begins with mix of bergamot, lime, grapefruit and basil....then segues into a charming verbena note.....which evolves into a very natural tuberose bloom, with its distinctive bubble-gum and slightly rubber-like facets - then ends with a whimper of patchouli and oakmoss.

A very pleasant and inoffensive traditional eau de cologne, a must-try for fans of O de Lancome, Diorella, etc.

grapefruit352

Yes, the fragrance has its individuality, well-made, very fresh, crispy and citrusy..One thing I could not agree with..Why this cologne is for women. It is an absolute unisex fragrance. There is nothing feminine here at all. Any gender can easily wear that. (for men although, it will suit better, because the chypre note is too dominant).

Dcarlo

Summer perfection for everyone. That’s what I think about Eau de Rochas.
The top notes are a delightful and energizing symphony of lemon and lime zest that makes you think of a chilled limoncello glass.
I feel no flowers at all, just beautiful citrus and about an hour later, a classic background of moss, amber and woods that somehow smells like a very light Cool Water for men.
Of course it all depends on your chemistry but that’s what came to my mind.
I simply adore Eau de Rochas. Anyone can wear it and feel fresh, energetic, happy and eternally in a Mediterranean summer time.
This is a cologne so don’t expect a long lasting fragrance or a sillage monster. But it’s so beautiful it’s a pleasure re-applying it.

mark03

This perfume is now very weak. It could be seen as an eau de cologne. Refreshing yes but in a light floral/musky way.
Some years ago I tried it, and I can not tell if it was already produced by the current company or an other. Well it was very citrusy, with all the acidic and bitter aspect of the citruses, then the musky development. Now it totally different, the predominant notes for me are the flowers like jasmine and narcissus. The acid opening is very, but very light almost not notable and the base I still can not describe. I will still test it for some time, then I will try to tell an opinion. In addition the current formula for me does not have all the ingredients listed on the Fragrantica description, but much more possible the Interparfums list of ingredients. Ok, there are always some secrets, so maybe the current ingredients are a way between Fragrantica and Interparfums list, but for sure a more skinny list. Anyway it is good that it is still in production, and I still like it but yes, now I can understand what people mean when they talk about reformulations.

LaContessina

I buy this fragrance by the litre. No joke! I buy the huge 440ml bottles and decant them in smaller sprayers for ease of use.
In summer this is the Eau I reach the most.
I own dozens of fresh citrusy colognes and love them all, but Eau de Rochas owns a special place in my heart (it was my beloved uncle signature fragrance, he lived in Paris: this fragrance reminds me of him when we hugged, as he always came to fetch me at the Paris airport).
Eau de Rochas seems your typical fresh citrus -bergamote cologne (Think Jean Marie Farina, 4711 etc) except it has a warm base and a fabulous drydown. Musk amber sandalwood and that little oakmoss make it sexy and cozy.
I love it to bits, now if only it could last longer...
Anyway, for that reason it comes in 440ml bottles ... :o)

The other day, passing "in a hurry" through the Plaza store, where I do my perfume shopping, I saw something that hadn't existed for a long time, a shelf full of Rochas. I froze, it was as if I had traveled back to my childhood on Christmas day, and immediately my casual visit turn into the grab as many bottles of Rochas day. I went home with 5 bottles of Rochas, and a few more from other brands🤭, and I spent the whole Friday afternoon smelling it, scoring notes and remembering moments. I only took Eau from Rochas because I either had the rest of the perfumes or I didn't like them, Eau de Rochas, Eau Fraiche, Eau Reflets, Eau Escapade en Mediterranee, Escapade Estivale, there were two more but they had nothing to do with my tastes, too sweet. I had Eau de Rochas years ago but I had forgotten something very important about it, was the perfume I wore to my first unofficial meeting with my husband, as soon as I sprayed it on the canvas paper my husband abandoned the Netflix movie and that's because this perfume is hard to confuse. Yes, it may have some notes with Lancome O, but it doesn't smell like it, O is very aromatic and heavy, this one is green and very oxygenated, it's like basil water with flower petals and coriander. It reminds me more of Jean Couturier than of Lancome. It is a clean perfume for a special, elegant office outfit made of fine materials, maybe satin, silk, cashmere. I remember why I wore it on that special day of my life, because it was a rainier day, with a sun barely visible in the clouds and I had an important business meeting with a person I hated, which now is my spiritual godmother for my wedding, so I took the coldest and most sober perfume I had in my wardrobe and the one to say be careful, at that time of cold spring the perfume was more stronger and more spicy, it made me think I could freeze anyone with just my eyes. Only that day that person was not sitting at the table, but her nephew was, I later found out that the scorpion had planned everything ahead, and so from the cold and sober scent my husband retained an enticing smell of petals water. It's a duplicate perfume, it gives me the feeling that you smell what you want to feel, can be harsh and sober, or fragrant and floral, but in both variants it retains its freshness and refined coldness. I'm glad I have it again and it certainly the next time I won't stay that long without it

sieffer

To me, simply a masterpiece of perfumery. Full stop...

Migalex

This is a very nice fragrance. No wonder it is so popular. I find it very similar to Boucheron pour homme, I think for the lemon verbena. It is not a weak fragrance, as one would expect from this type of fragrance. Staying power seems to me good and so does sillage. I wish I could try the fraishe version, but I do not find it anywhere.

Corvus Corone

This bottle with this perfume. Perfection. It just tells you what you are getting into. Fresh, faceted, sparkling, waves of water rippling over polished stones.
Someone said this is not "beach" I think it is, it's just Cyprus not Daytona.

Citrus, Aromatic, Unisex done really well.

bodnerrachel

Eau de Rochas is a nice Eau de Toilette that smells very much like Ô de Lancôme. It has the same Citrus-wood-oakmoss spiciness. But longevity and projection are somewhat poor. It's almost worth it to spend a little more and get Ô de Lancôme. However, as an after-shower splash, Eau de Rochas works fine. It's not for dates or parties, but for quiet moments at breakfast or puttering around the house. Therefore: I'm going to call it the perfect quarantine perfume. :)

boutlagh

Eau de Rochas is everything you wish your summer perfume to smell like: citrusy, refreshingly-cold and fizzy. it is not sweet and the only fruitiness in it comes from the citrus. the oakmoss, coriander and carnation add a "lot" of bitterness to the juice and makes it a mature-lady scent. Unlike other perfumes that are from the same family (citrusy perfumes) this one has a strong projection and longevity.

Parfumbeth

Dear Fragrantican,
I urge you to do try and find the earlier, vintage version of Eau de Rochas and perhaps you will experience the lifting, light, bright airiness of the topnotes of this classic as well as the oakmoss and crisp patchouli in the base. For me this lasts for hours! I have tried the newer version and am not quite as fond of it, although it is lovely to splash on in the a.m. to begin the day or after shower in the evening. EdR is a go-to for me on those first days in May when the weather is starting to be warm in the morning. It's a ritual for me and a celebration of the season I look forward to each year.

emi59

great scent !
I love it on men .
I appreciate the oakmoss note .
perfect all year long but especially perfect for hot days .
and it’s cheap .
9/10 and not 10 because the longevity is not great .

UnearthlyApothecary

Refreshing! green and zesty citrus! I absolutely love this cologne. Probably top five for me. Doesn’t smell vintage to me at all! I was shocked to see how old this one actually is. It smells like a current niche scent. As everyone else who adores this also wishes, I want more power!! I wish I could dial this one up to an 11. I have a vintage mini and definitely want to upgrade to a full size. I will love this in the heat of our Arizona summers. I see myself spritzing throughout the day, to cool off and refresh as needed. so yeah definitely need a large bottle. Out of the 4 Rochas vintage mini’s I recently purchased, this is my favorite.

Annemarie

I like Eau de Rochas. It's been a summer staple of mine for some years. I pull it out for the hottest days and spritz madly. Yes, it's performance is very poor and that means it doesn't develop much beyond it's opening statement but it's wonderful while it lasts. The mossy, mineral, 'wet stone' accord marks it out from other citrus colognes such as O de Lancome.

Sherine777

Ah! You smell sooo good!
Why couldn't you last longer?! :(

I love the smell so very much, I would bath in it night and day.
The perfect Zesty Minty Greenness Freshness ever.. If only I could have an Intense version of this..

(It's the only scent that would pick me up and I tolerate when I get sick)

dzingunyte

this doesnt have any longevity nor performance.. but very fresh fragrance for hot days and refreshing after shower :)

TrephineArtist

I have and love the men's version of this and had been eager to try out the women's original as it has been suggested as superior and also basically unisex.

Alas on my albeit quick test this has to be one of the most fleeting, ephemeral scents I've ever tried! For the first few seconds it does indeed smell lovely, certainly more feminine than the men's one too but that one is definitely more to my taste in terms of scent.

Glad I didn't blind buy, perhaps the tester was dodgy, I don't know but I found the performance shocking here!

gtabasso

I have the vintage. I don't like most chypres. This is wonderful. It is so much more and different. very ctirusy with lime, bergamot, lemon, lemon verbena and basil in the top then some very light florals, oakmoss, sandalwood, coriander and vetiver with hints of musk; not a sharp bitter chypre, very powdery and pretty for summer

Jobob

Very happy to have discovered this fragrance. It is almost identical to Dior Eau Fraiche which is a scent I wore in the eighties and hard to find now and will cost a small fortune. A nice bright citrus with a touch of green notes . A great warm weather scent that is very uplifting. I now have a fantastic scent to replace my Dior at a great price.

Phantomias

Sharp opening made musty by oakmoss. No floral notes as far as I can tell. Barely noticable after dry down, this is more body splash than perfume. It might be refreshing during hot weather, that's about the best I can say about this scent. It's not terrible, just weak and indistinct.
I suppose this could be used for layering, but why bother when there are so many better scents?

Michelle12345678

Astringent citrus. Bitter lemons and oakmoss. Sour citrus. Poor longevity and sillage. A bit of carnation.

raiza1990

Fresh and unisex. Has a male cologne vibe, but is not aggressive like many fragrances of this kind.
Sillage and longevity are poor.

chinook

Lime and grapefruit, I guess citrus notes in general, don’t agree with my nose, so I don’t know why I ordered a sample of this? It’s for educational purpose. Eau de Rochas opens up with a strong mothball smell, which I find very offputting. I think it’s the lime that makes me think mothball. Towards the end, a mossy vetiver comes up. It seems like the perfume is quite complex, despite my dislike for it. This is probably the first time I strongly dislike a vintage/vintage styled perfume.

masako_30

I realized I needed it as an ally on the hottest days.
The tester was no longer available but luckily it's still the same fragrance I remembered: a bit of carnation in a burst of citrus fruits.
Eau de Rochas is my true little vintage gem and I really like it!

stacia79

A cologne in the 1970s style, the lemon shares the spotlight equally with oakmoss, lime and basil. When I first sprayed this, I was a bit put off. It just doesn't smell anything like the modern citruses. The oakmoss places it squarely in the vintage category. Notes of coriander and patchouli lie underneath, contributing an almost dirty animalic sweat quality to an otherwise bright and uplifting potion. This should not discourage anyone from trying it. If you can't find it anywhere, O de Lancome is still widely available and smells a lot like Eau de Rochas. Try either and see what you think of a "dirty" citrus!

singingsuzie17

Just received a bottle of Eau de Rochas. My! What a blast of citrus....almost too much at first. However, as it dries down it becomes more subtle and soft. I would say this is the most unisex fragrance I own. It's still cold here in the UK so I look forward to trying it when we get a bit of warm weather or when we go on holiday. I can imagine it will come into its own then. Roll on the summer!

This perfume was launched two years before I was born and it was a big hit when I was growing up. I lived in Spain and moved to Germany when I was in my twenties, so to me this smells like your typical middle-class, elegant Spanish lady. Discreet, clean (citrus), and refined. It has that slightly naughty seventies spice (patchouli?) that makes it just a tiny bit mysterious, and only a hint of bitterness, but nothing poisonous, more like the bitter skin of the orange holding the sweetness inside. It is refreshing but also warm, something you can wear on a hot summer afternoon as well as on a chilly spring morning. It is almost a cologne, just a little bit more.
I wear it every day. It reminds me of a different type of woman, so I like it.

_christine_

This is summer in the countryside. It's summery, not beachy and not tropical.

Eau de Rochas starts with a fresh, warm citrus. It's a very bright opening that's like a sunny day. It shifts to a mossy, herbal with a bit of powdery rose. All the spicy notes are delicately added - spicy carnation instead of clove, light coriander. It's just enough spice to keep it interesting.

Eau de Rochas is light, clean and shower-fresh. It's the perfect choice for the hottest day of the summer or the meeting where you want to be effortlessly cool.

meliecat

A true french classic and I only had a chance to sample this just now..What a waste of time, I must say it is wonderful! Perfect combination of sea spray, sweet and sour citruses and a hint of flowers, comes out totally refreshing and uplifting on my skin, a scent that I could spend every summer day in!!! I think one might say it`s almost unisex, but the middle notes make it really soft and floaty so I`d rather say it`s just fresh and summery.

I am a big fan of Rochas and I have been in France a few times and I remember the scent floating down the streets and now I know this was it..It will remind me of France forever, especially the Riviera - I saw it at airports and also in Spain an Portugal, but never actually tried it, I was totally wrong not to! I have Eau Sensuelle, the pink bottle which is a sweeter version of this, but I must say that I`d rather wear this one than Eau Sensuelle, if only I could find it anywhere at a reasonable price as it has become rare and pricey. Great scent, it will be a fave, especially around the summer!

Suzy Schnabel

Very nice iron-note. Must have for summer. Vintage .

My mother passed away last winter. When I went to her house to clean i found her bottles of Rochas perfume, one unopened still in its box. When i sprayed it it brought me back to my youth in the 80s. Like Proust's madeleine, this is the smell of heavy evenings, when my mom would lock herself in the bathroom to take a long bath, in silence. I remember walking in the bathroom after she had left, still smelling the deep and heavy, hot vaporous air mixed with her perfume. While all the other suburban moms around wore sweet and heavy Chanel-ish perfumes, my mom was different. She was not sweet, rich or comfortable. she was sensual, singular, dramatic and grand. My experience of Eau de Rochas will always be tainted by this. I smell the cleanliness if citrus but there is an underlying feel of something raw, animalistic. Like a whore's bath. Of all the perfumes I own, this is the one I now wear when i need to feel confident. I channel my mother, what she meant to me back in those days. This mysterious grandiose dramatic rebel stuck in the suburbs.

Mr Viking

This is one of my favorites among fresh citrus summerscents.
I dont mind wearing it allthough I´m a guy.
I think that it differs from my nr. 1 summerscent Hermés Eau d´Orange Verte created 1979 by Francoise Caron.
I like the distinct fruity sharp caracter, allmost like a mixture of grapefruit, ginger and Japanese flowers, wich makes it stand out alone.
Very hard to find the original release nowadays, but I have been lucky a couple of times

kateridelisle

Soft citrus, erotic, lying on cool wet stones surrounded by lemon flowers, breathing fresh air. Adore this summery fragrance.

mypersonalharmonics

Verbena and Vetiver the double V.

This is a time I will disagree with the popuar vote about noticeable notes, since the ones I'm getting are not mostly lime and oakmoss. Yes they are there, but the two V's are the big players on me. And PEPPER, I am getting a lot of pepper, where does this come from??? Oh, yesss, and basil, here comes the basil, fresh and lovely too.

This is quite masculine, let's be honest. Very desirable(I have a thing for Rochas house) but not your average "pour femme". This is closer to Vetiver perfumes like Guerlain's or Tom Ford's, rather than your average citrus eau fraiche.

Monte Casino

Beautiful bottle and i remember it was very similar to banana republic classic. Fresh, with spicy details. But above all an ultra fresh classy mediterranean smell. Delicious. And the bottle is fantastic.

dlane1953

One of the best hot-weather aromatic citrus scents I know. Vibrant and very refreshing, and the chypre-like base keeps it going for many hours. Silage is bold, the longevity 8 hours. Love this classic. Totally unisex.

nero77

Fresh herbs and citrus...

I find that Eau de Rochas is a wonderful fragrance which is fresh and aromatic and natural smelling. This reminds me very much of Dior - Eau Sauvage but without the hedione - jasmine note. Instead we're left with the basil and the verbena and other herbs which give this a very green smell. I also find this similar to Eau de Guerlain.

I would say that I think this one can be placed in that particular trilogy of fragrances. The Dior from 1966, this one from 1970, and the Guerlain from 1974. I would say that if you want something more floral and balanced then go for the Dior, but if you want something greener and amplified (but more on the same theme as this one) then go for the Guerlain.

Overall a lovely fragrance which has the sourness of bitter herbs and citrus. A very nice mix which is perfect for spring & summer etc... and if you like the other fragrances mentioned in the same category then give this one a try. It's really green and refreshing and perfect for everyday use.

NouveauDruid

Eau de Rochas in one word. FRESH. It is one of two scents I would reach for in the summertime to make me feel renewed. The other was Eau Ressourcante by Clarins.

EdR is even better when kept in the refrigerator. Imagine spraying or splashing yourself with something utterly citrusy yet not lemon, lime, grapefruit, nor orange, but all of these things, because there is a perfect balance wrought by the vetiver and oakmoss.

EdR is not a chypre but it is. It's not a citrus, but it is. It's not a floral, but it sort of is. It's light and it's masterfully blended and above all, anyone can wear it.

diego.lesgart

Amazing and powerfull fragance! Love it and wear it! A really and truely retro or vintage cologne ... I don t know how describe it ... misty and warm, but fresh and tonic, deffinitely for wearing it on summer ... may be resinous and herbal ... sunny ... but lemony (lemon, lime, lemon tree...) with the luxe and the optimistic of antiques colognes... One of the best experiences on summer fragances ...

rasputin1963

I love that "stony" note the drydown possesses.... like wet stones in a river...

Lauraci

I've just got a vintage bottle and I am in love!

I was born in the late 70s, and this smells like the classy and cool (that's how saw them then, at least) ladies I wanted to be like when I grew up. Those women in linen suits, casual but elegant.

At first it's fresh, citrusy, herbal, then it's goes woody and spicy and stays like that for a long time on me. Mediterranean sea, a lemon drink, some herbs, an old small church... It has lots of character, unlike the many watery fruity summer scents of today. And it could definitely be a masculine scent.

I love Rochas house!

Museumgal

Sharp, fresh, crisp citrus in the opening, then a touch of mint. The woods and moss come in, a bit powdery. The jasmine is lovely in the heart. But there is something sharp and almost medicinal in here too that is a bit distracting.

Miss_J

Lemon Lime candy! this is the first thought upon spritzing it to my arm. I love citrus scents EXCEPT Lemon but somehow Eau de Rochas kind of grown on me. It has the usual zingy citrus fragrance opening, similar to Chanel Cristalle that I own. This is vintage citrus, which is tampered by minty green/oakmoss/patchouli. No sweetness abound, just a bit tart/sour/fresh. It's simple and carefree and I like it.

yidansheng

bergamot, verveine, mandarine, slightly gingery. jasmine, rose, carnation. chypre, animalic. "Eau de Roche", water of rocks, the mineral effect is annotated by the mossy animalic back.

LadyPilot

It smells exactly as a perfect cologne ought to. It is a noble relative of O de Lancome. It is as innocent as a sunny morning in a green garden and as refined as luxurious penthouse. If I were to start over with perfumes, this would be my number one. The energy it provides is just amazing - it doesn't make you jump like crazy but it does give you the feeling of a new beginning, of total "tabula rasa" that will change into a beautiful picture and optimistic path of your life. That's just the magic of citrusses and fresh herbs:)

Eau de Rochas is a refreshing citrus and successfuly does what citrus fragrances are meant to do. It is nice, sunny and light. There is some sourness in it (maybe coming from the patchouli) just to confirm that happy summer days can have their sad moments too.
A good fragrance but Eau de Guerlain is superior.

smells like these bluish green candy mints old ppl used to give me when I was little lol but after awhile I mainly smell the black currant. Idk I love it, its very different; use, use in my husband!!

stella by starlight

Just purchased a bottle and its very disappointing. the old stuff is worthy but the current reformulation is crap. Smells cheap and no longevity. A shame.

Venusia

Definitely unisex, harsh lemon with strong earthy woody notes and a certain smth. I can't name that makes it unwearable for me as woman. For my man is absolutely perfect and he likes it. It smells wonderful on him at start and 10 hours later. Problem solved.

TRIIRIS94

I bought this twenty years ago.A piece of art.Yesterday I bought it again.REFORMULATED as most of classics.Very dissapointed this time.No longevity too.

Roughnose

I`m a man and Eau de Rochas is one of the very few women`s scents I can wear and enjoy confidently.

What a great timeless citrus scent it is !

It reminds me of my beloved Eau Sauvage, I`d say it could even pass as Dior`s unisex sibling.

nellyrlight

the best! the best! the best!!!!!!! love all notes, all layers..everything about it!!! i'm so happy you can still find this treasure!!!

Petunia50

Eau de Rochas is the perfect scent to cut through the heat of summer. I mainly smell lemon, floral notes, especially geranium, and oakmoss with an underlying mineralized aromatic quality. This is not a rounded scent, the notes smell natural. I find it refreshing yet sensual due to it's chypre base. IMO, it is a unisex scent although there are versions for both females and males. It has moderate sillage when first applied. The longevity is only a few hours for me so I bought the matching lotion which does help to extend the life of this scent. I like to keep a splash bottle of this in the fridge for sultry hot weather. EdR is a favorite and one that I will always have in my collection.

RachelGrigg

On paper I should love this fragrance. However there is a particular note or the combo which makes me feel slightly queasy. I can't identify it. I will try again on a different day.

Update: I think I don't love the top notes but I do enjoy the dry down which does remind me of Armani Eau pour homme. So I will use it but maybe keep for gym and shopping days!

Who said that refreshment has to be clean and boring? (Well, probably some contemporary American person. Luckily, the 1970's French thought otherwise and gave us Eau de Rochas.)

This is old school, and dries down to a personal type skin scent that is borderline dirty and has the eroticism that almost no modern creation dares to carry (at least in the mainstream). I wouldn't have expected that from a refreshing summer citrus. Could last longer though, probably needs more sprays.

It smells very natural, really like opening some citrus fruit, you can even smell the bitterness of the peel, brilliantly done! Love that slight bitter twist! Also, it suits both genders perfectly.

This was my first impression, will update.
My tester bottle doesn't have the gorgeous looking cap, but the bottle itself looks great.

birdy

just love it's hollyday club in a bottle!

Tiger84

Just when I decided no more fragrance... this one is back in stock! And for a good price... and who knows for how long... bit the bullet. :) Though summer is ending who knows if this scent will be available here next year for this cheap.

Thaxter

Just ordered another bottle of this. Such a light, beautiful, soft, and calming fragrance!

I have tried so many fragrances the past year, looking for that one that would feel right every morning before heading to work. This is it! The bergamot is bracing and clean, and it dries down to a very soft iris scent without losing that bright opening too much. I do not find anise listed as an ingredient but I seem to detect it in this scent.

It's perfect for my work environment where I have the misfortune to be in a West Coast office that contains many "fragrance sensitive" people. When I leave the office I respray, and I even spray this on before going to bed. There's something so seamless, soft, and effortlessly pretty about this fragrance, something classic and definitely fresh. I always feel more put together and feminine in the mornings after I spray this.

rasputin1963

No tricks about it, just an extremely good-smelling, refined, high quality, European-style citrus cologne, but with a hint of a patchouly/chypre-like base. I would not call it "green" in any way. Easily unisex. Light, sharp, nose-tickling, elegant, cooling with delicate herbal qualities. I do seem to get distinct neroli and honeysuckle notes, though they are not listed in the "official" olfactive pyramid. The jasmin betrays a hint of "old-school" indoles. Coriander make the whole mix pleasantly, delicately bitter, which it stays throughout its development. Everything is blended seamlessly, and no one note stands out at all. The ambered base smells rather sunbaked, like a hot golden St. Tropez beach, and neroli confers its suntan lotion feeling. The ultimate summer scent, it's just pure pleasure with no hidden intrigues at all.

I remember the first time i bought eau de rochas was a summer of the end millennium. I was in love with the bitter lemony and aromatic smell of eau de rochas like laundry hanging in the sun, .. so 70's but that always remember me my childhood and the aroma in the air of that time. This fragrance is so refreshing and it is oxygen into a bus in the center of Florence. Even is the fragrance is easily wearable for both sexes expecially nowdays of "one million" men, that time I was worried cause e.d.r. was a fragrance for women, and i am officially a man. Then I went to my cousin asking her opinion about the fragrance "I've bought this perfume by Rochas, well.. this is for woman, but I don't think that is so extremely feminine.. what do you think?" she sniffed at the scent, and declared: "After Shave." "don't be afraid. You smell like my father."
Well, when I talk with the women that were in their youth in the end of 60s full 70s also firsts 80s I've learned (and i guess according with the story of perfumery) that there was a sort of repulsion to fragrances to much feminine or sensual and a lot of women prefears to wear perfume for man. psychologically also for have the same indipendence and don't be seen fragile, with needs or protection by men, and refusing to appear like a sexy doll or a cat in heat needing to a fast pregnancy. So the perfumery followed that line and request. Anyway i bought again eau the rochas some years ago and even if I find the opening identical I presume (but maybe is just my imagination) that the heart is a bit changed.I find it more rosy (a friend of mine said "smell like thorn bush" she is not a perfumista she never wears perfume but incredible there is a persistent wild rose in it!) and less metallic and the entire fragrance is more persistent of I use to remember. But even if reformulations are always behind the corner to bite you, memory is always susceptible to imperfections.

Mooniq

Well, I have a problem with citrus-notes.. they turn male'ish on my skin, so eau de Rochas is very fresh male'ish strongsmelling and longlasting scent on my skin. Not for me.

Tja, jag har ett problem med citrus-noter, de blir gärna manliga på min hud, så Eau de Rochas är otroligt fräsch, manlig, stark och superhållbar doft på mig. Inget för mig, tyvärr.

Jerrythecat

Decided to go crazy and stock for the summer as I now have been with my old friend Eau de Rochas for a few weeks: I have bought another 250 ml bottle.
This perfume is really wicked in a good way and confirms the old adage that great perfumes are those you can't smell on you, but now and again remind you of their presence. That is exactly why EDR is about: discretion, class, citrusy freshness that evolves into a kind of subtle metallic flowery composition in some kind of masculine way.
For a man and in the unisex "eaux" range, EDR is crispier than Escale à Parati (one of my favourites from Dior) and less flowery than Ô de Lancome (another of my favourites). It is sharper and even more masculine in a way than the EDR for Men which is very common to my view. If you are a guy, a splash or spray of EDR after showering will uplift your spirits, put you in a great mood (especially in the dark winter days), and will make you ready for the day ahead without feeling you have put too much on!
I can't express enough how I love and crave for this perfume!

icecube

Fresh opening - like a freshly squeezed lemon lemon over my wrist.
But I fell this is more for men then women as it most prominente notes on me is lemon and oskmoss. None of the other notes comes trough on my skin so for me this is a no no.

Just bought a 220ml bottle on the internet and I am excited about this baby to arrive. My first memory of this perfume was flying from Paris to Toulouse on an Air Inter flight in the late 80's. I was one of the first to board the plane and one of the cabin attendants had probably splashed herself with Eau de Rochas before meet and greet. The smell was clean, crisp citrusy and so stylish and chic that I asked her what she was wearing and bought it for me.
Yep I'm a bloke and thinks that that some perfumes are unisex and have been wearing some women branded ones ever since: Angel, Escale a Parati, Aromatics Elixir, Empreinte and Eau by Courrèges. I have recently come back to the "eau" as they are safe, personal and intimate with this feel good after shower fresh factor, compared to their pungent sisters which have a tendency to be in your face and then disappear. The "eaux" are more subtle, closer to your personality and to your skin and can be worn any time.
I have read that Rochas are now part of the Procter and Gamble brand, so I hope that their eau has retained the same comforting scent in its reformulation as the original. More to say in a next posting.

Edit: just received my little baby today, and wow, it felt like a long lost friend I had not seen for years. The opening note has slightly changed compared to the original and I must say a tad synthetic. But the base note is exactly what it has always been: a citrusy, flowery and fresh note. Not overpowering, just simply classy and subtle. Definitely a unisex perfume and even more for me as a middle-aged man when I now prefer soft and personal scents and spray again during the day whenever I feel to, instead of one spray of those overpowering modern ones that tend to be so complicated that you get bored with them quickly.

I am now back on my plane to Toulouse...

Yudum

My mum loves this smell but I just dont get it theres nothing special about it but I would say its a 40 plus female scent not for young people.

maajake

Very nice cool, fresh fragrance. But I can swear that I smell anise - am I the only one? I have a small vintage for swap!

missk

Eau de Rochas should be classified as unisex. I could easily enjoy the scent of this on a man, as well as I do on my own skin.

The opening of Eau de Rochas reminds me of the scent of lemonade. It's very lemony, sparkling and crisp. Eau de Rochas shares a few similarities with Chanel's Cristalle Eau Verte. As you would expect, Eau de Rochas is a Summer scent.

I find Summer to be rather depressing, as I'm not a fan of the heat and humidity. If I were to spritz on Eau de Rochas of a morning, I think my day would improve greatly. Think of this fragrance as a mood-booster.

The opening is light and citrusy, however the drydown is a touch more masculine. Basil, coriander, sandalwood, oakmoss and patchouli only add to this fragrance's complexity without detracting away from Eau de Rochas' fresh approach.

Eau de Rochas has moderate projection, and surprisingly good longevity to boot. It's quite sensational for a Summer scent. Here's hoping that a discontinuation is not on the cards. I do love this fragrance.

I went through a period of obsession with "Eaus"--all those light, citrusy, fresh daytime scents that are so big in Europe. First, in high school, I fell in love with "Eau De Love" and virtually poured it over my head everyday. ( I would kill for another bottle of that one--long gone, I fear!)Then, in the 80's I fell in love with Eau De Givenchy, fresh and flowery, and I still have some of that one. When I worked for Lancome I used both Eau De Lancome and their late 90's scent, O Oui. But THIS is my all time favorite Eau--crisp and lemony on the top, with a little herbal astringency, the mid note is full of sweet spring flowers, jasmine and narcissus to die for--and the mossy, musky base notes smooth it all out. Like all eaus--not a lot of staying power, but the floral notes do linger for a while. I miss this--just a tiny mini left, I fear!

stormyla

This was the first Rochas fragrance that I ever wore back in the early 70's. I liked it's light refreshing character and used a number of bottles of it, then moved on to other things. Recently I acquired several small bottles of the original scent with the old name of Eau de Roche. They are each EDT. The juice has held up well and the scent is still very pleasing.

I don't know when and how much the scent has been reformulated, but if you want to be sure to get a vintage bottle look for one with the old name. There are several available on Ebay right now.

Generally, I don't care for the "Eau" type of fragrances, lemon based summer colognes, but this one is the exception. Maybe it's the basil or the carnation, but this one has just enough sweetness to feel feminine so that I really do enjoy it.

The vintage EDT has modest sillage and decent longevity, about 6 hours. That's fine for a summer scent as usually I will shower before going out for a night activity and I will then wear a different fragrance for the evening!

laantjebanaantje

Eau de Rochas is refined refreshment.
The fragrance opens with a bracing citrus combination. Lime and grapefruit both are very prominent to my nose. Soon the sparkling citrus opening is accompanied by a salty herbal accord. Basil probably. Fresh basil does not smell like this accord, not by far, but there are some similarities.
The base of oakmoss offers a dark damp coolness. A walk in a forest on a hot day. A moment's respite in the shade of the mighty trees.
But not for long. This perfume is more about light, about the blazing sun than about darkness.

I could hardly think of a perfume that's more suited on a hot, humid day than Eau de Rochas. I love the lack of sweetness and the fact that this perfume, despite the salty freshness, never turns the least bit aquatic. The malestrom bottle represents this perfume beautifully and the big spray nozzle gives the biggest, most refreshing sprays.
Eau de Rochas is a perfume that is worth having in the biggest size available.

Marygold

I can't wait to have it. I hope I will like it based on reviews and notes. Some dislike it for the masculine drydown and I'd love it for this... I hope this will be what i am looking for - freshness, spices and Mediterranean. I'm so sick of artificially delicious and sugary smells with no soul...

Edit: Not what I was hoping for...:(

Henriette

This is a scent that despite reformulation and passing of time is still perfect.
Summery scents all in all are much alike: citrus, woodsy drydown, a little bit of spices ...
Eau de Rochas is a nice fresh blast of water that refreshes you but with the addition of a strong personality that says: "Hey, I am here to last and not disappear in minutes".
Yes, what distinguishes Eau de Rochas from other Eaux is the personality: well crafted, unique, assertive, strong. But never ever overwhelming, never ever slamming, just perfect as only true ladies can be.
A masterpiece.

There's a proverb which says "Before to love it, learn to hate it".

First time I felt it, I was like "Blaaaahhhhh, that's awful and heady. What is this thing ?"
But, few days after, I felt it again, because there was a note (I don't know which one) I liked, in the back.

Second time... Marvelous, its freshness is unparalleled ! I feel to scent the most perfect icecube ever !

nellyrlight

the base notes on my skin were a great mood altering (for better!) for me..I did love this perfume..It's funny I was remembering the scent, and the bottle but couldn't remember the maker of this great perfume the other day..and while I was just browsing now, it just appeared here..so I wanted to drop a line..very special perfume!

shannonny

I'm sitting here loving the smell of Eau de Rochas. I just got out of a hot bath which I bubbled up with White Linen gel: I wanted something dry and crisp, like champagne, after a rather grungy day. Even though it's what passes for winter in San Diego, I wanted to continue the "fresh, smart, summery" feeling from the bath, so I picked Eau de Rochas.

There was an Eau de Rochas mini bottle in the kit of toiletries in the bathroom of my room at Le Meurice hotel in Paris, when I was fortunate to stay there more than 20 years ago. I took one every day, and it was replaced every day, for three days. Three minis that got all used up.

Twenty years have passed, I've discovered fragrance with a vengeance, and this was the first old friend I called back. Oh la! It has the aroma of a simple salad: pungent herbs and young greens dashed with coarse salt and pepper, and a sprinkle of lemon juice.

The basil, salty basil, predominates on my skin. And I do pick up black pepper (likely the patchouli note). I love flowers and wouldn't mind them here, but I smell nary a pretty petal: On me, Eau de Rochas is bouquet garni, savory...a clear, cool broth sipped from a shallow bowl. Really rather foodie; a clean, nourishing aura.

Which I find quite pleasant, and languidly sensuous, in its way, like a fit and healthy person lying at rest.

Sillage: A skin scent
Duration: Aboout an hour (on me)

Blue_Lady_Jane

I hit 16 and suddenly the interest in perfume began. I bought this for my 16th birthday and have hardly ever been without a bottle since. I feel refreshed simply looking at the icy bottle & top design, not a one-note citrus that smells like lemon detergent, this is a favourite of mine I still never tire of nearly 30 years later.

hedda201

A crisp clean smell that can brighten any mood!
My signature scent, goes with everything.

milkyway

oh whow, this thing really blew my mind!
The opening is very sharp and dull at the same time, so as soon as applied it gives an impression of a typical crisp and bland cologne..HOWEVER, then it settles down, and Oh. My. God. it smells delicious! The initial citrucy smell to something great and rounded- warmed up[ by moss and basil and with lovely powdery rose..the lime aftertaste(reminiscent of cocktails;)) adds a bit of coquette and tropical undertone..loved it...

caca102

This smell like an old school man's cologne on me (4711?). It opens with a bright citrus note then quickly turn into a cold and bitter smell. It is long lasting (all day) but too masculine on me. However I find it works great when layering it with fragrances that I find too sweet for warm weather(Cabotine, for example). It adds coolness and complexity, turning the sweetness into a refreshing and unique summer scent, a definite keeper. Guys should try this too if they are looking for a classic male cologne with good longevity.

judyk

4711 goes to Monaco. I *like* it!

pomdgf

If you find something fresh and clean like the air after raining I highly recommend this fragrance. So citrusy but not too sour. Moreover the good point except a fresh water in the glass is a vintage bottle. Perfect for summer but personally I love to wearing when it's raining cause it's double fresh. And it last long enough til the end of the day.

LaPetite

I have bought this one because of the rumors saying that Rochas may discontinue all their scents . Even if they don't I won't regret this purchase because it's a classical i've always wanted to have .
Yes it's a classical , everyone should at least test it once in their life.
Beware ! It's really not a sweety / girly / trendy scent ! Kepp in mind it has been created in 1970 ! Thus i think young women / teenager won't like this at all , But thanks God all young women or teenager are no sheep who follows blindly the advertising's summons of what they're supposed to like for their age.
This is sharp , herbal , even unisex in my opinion . A man could wear it without anyone guessing he is wearing a women scent .
Of course you have the right not to like this perfume, but please, at least try it . It's a classical that belongs to the patrimony of perfumery , and it might dispear soon !
Besides this it really makes me think of Diorella !

dlane1953

This is a review for a vintage bottle, eau de toilette circa 1970s era.

Awesome. It's more of a light chypre IMO than a citrus fragrance since the mid and base notes take over after the fresh opening.

The opening is refreshing, vibrant and invigorating. Crisp and herbal. The basil accord adds an herby freshness to the usual line-up of citrus notes. Bergamot, lime, and lemon are the strongest notes I detect from the range listed above.

The heart is lightly sweet and spicy, the carnation giving a "zingy" note to the sweeter accords of jasmin and rose. Heavy on the patchouli! This strong note, I think, is what makes Eau de Rochas a stand-out in the category of citrus fragrances. If you're looking for pure and simple citrus, this probably won't be up your alley.

After roughly an hour I started picking out the basenotes, and again, these accords make this frag exceptional in its category.Oakmoss, vetiver and amber keep it earthy, the musk is sensual. Not only do these notes add longevity, but also depth and sexiness. Words not usually associated with hot-weather fragrances in my experience.

I can't think of anything I'd rather wear in the sultry heat of summertime. The crisp herbiness of the opening notes topping the woody base seems the best of all worlds. I feel as if I'm wandering along a wooded stream, the air filled with the fragrance of lush greenery and wild herbs. It's heavenly.

Sillage good, longevity 7-8 hours on me. A great unisex fragrance, guys.

Pinja

Eau de Rochas, Diorella, Cristalle and Eau Sauvage seem like a family.
Eau de Rochas I expected to be the most cologne-like out of the 4, but it's maby closer to a chypre or a citrus aromatic, as labeled above.

The scent is from a different era. That is clear from the very first sniff. It does not smell modern or contemporate, but it does smell great.
I appreciate a good drydown, and Eau de Rochas develops beautifully. It is not linear or boring.
Lovely.

Peachply

My mother introduced me to many fragrances, particularly the crisp green sort. I am still interested in them but this to me does it so well. Many today smell so ummm, unnatural? Somehow this one was sharp in a clean way, not cloying as so many seem now. Love it for spring and summer.

krmarich

As the 1970s rolled in, Rochas became commonplace and a bestseller worldwide. The greener, cooler more carefree era began. Eau de Rochas was the first real aquatic to me. There were no watery notes(calone), yet it reminded me of the beach.

The notes are really a fougere with coumarin added. The florals remained in the background. Yes, I would say it was the first unisex offering. One didnt say this too loudly in the day. You just wore it. It was relaxing, refreshing and comfortable.

If you can find a vintage, grab it up and take on your next holiday to the seashore!

Marie76

It's citrus, yes, but there's also some notes I get ( salt, mainly, and also grass) that make it masculine and sharp. it evokes summers in the seaside for me. I always have a bottle of this going.

Tansycat

Yes I think they did reformulate it and weakened it. I also bought a similar fake dark green liquid, and in the Eau De Rochas bottle! I do like the original.

Kittycat63

Like Mediterranean, Eau de Rochas evokes strong family memories for me which is one reason I like it so much. My mum died suddenly a few years ago, which was devastating of course, and she had a large bottle of this which she used on and off, as well as other perfumes such as Dune. There's still some left in her bottle, which I still have, and I sometimes sniff it and it brings back vivid memories of my mum, sometimes sad ones and sometimes happy ones. Sometimes I cry when I smell it because it reminds me so much of her. Of course, I can't bring myself to use up the remainder of it (which, by the way, still smells as lovely now as it did years ago and it hasn't gone 'off' at all) so I keep it because of its connection to my mum, as well as the loveliness of it. It's such a lovely, clear, fresh, invigorating smell, like a refreshing eau de cologne, very European smelling, and I think it's wonderful. No wonder it's a classic. It's ideal for spring and summer use but can easily be worn all year around. Also, the bottle's so pretty!

As for some of the reviews here which say it's nauseating, smells like disinfectant, etc, although of course everyone has their own take on things, to use words like that is totally inappropriate for such a delightful perfume as this. In my opinion it's an entirely inoffensive scent and so not the type of perfume that should provoke such a strange reaction! If it was heavy and pungent like 'classics' such as Opium, LouLou, etc, I could see it evoking strong dislike in some people but it's not like those kinds of perfumes (thank god!).

Eau de Rochas is a very special perfume, very, very recommendable and well worth the effort of tracking down a bottle!

Sassy1

I had high hopes for this one but it falls short of expectations.
For all the citrus notes, I find that only the lime really stands out and it's life is very quick and fleeting. It's not jolting, bracing or house-cleaner like but refreshingly crisp for a minute or less before it flits away.

Then comes on the powder and tons of it (no iris here? Hmmm). It reminds me of the round scented box my mom used to have on her dresser, you know, with the big powder puff? As far as I can remember, she never wore this scent but it's a dead ringer for whatever cheap drugstore body powder gift she got for Christmas every year. (probably from me!)

Due to the poor citrus durability and linear line of this jus, I'm going to take a wild guess and say what I have is reform and not for the better.

I expected something bright and cheerful but instead was stuck with a dowdy wallflower doomed never to dance, at least on my skin.

Sorry Rochas, try again.

mediterranean

I remember smelling this for the first time when I was 15. I was walking to Santiago de Compostela in July with some friends and one of the ladies in charge of the group used it. When I returned home I was begging my mother to buy it for my birthday in August and finally I got it. When I sprayed it my mum thought it was lovely too and it has been her signature scent ever since. My sister uses it too and although I still love it, with so many people around wearing it, it has become a family mark. Sometimes I wear it in scorching summer days. So refeshing !

seatonica

Cold - like plunging into a deep, green jungle pool on on hot day.

klauditapaz

Hello. This is my favorite fragance, but is not on sale in Chile and Duty Free of South America. l buy several when l travel to Europe. l can not compare this smell with anything else.
My dream is get the 440 ml bottle, but l could not find it!!!

Elfies

I remember beautiful lace box with Eau de Rochas standing on the shelf in my grandmother closet. I was always curious what treasure was hiding there inside. This is a truly scent of my childhood. Now putting it on I feel younger :) I would agree with many reviews under that it is truly a "sea scent". Slightly salty, windy and very fresh. Patchouly coming out the strongest for me. It is such a splash of energy scent - something to use for every ocasion when you want to stay alert and awake.

True gem!

wprofumo

If I could keep only one perfume on my list, it would have to be this one.

BIG

I like Eau de Rochas for women a lot lot more than the one for men! This scent is so refreshing and develops so beautifuly, unlike the men's versions, which i consider to be a bit too loud and harsh. And yeah, i'm a guy :)

Lottis

My very first perfume ... and my signature scent for a long time.
I got the chance to try it for a few days ago and it was exactly as I remember it. It is incredibly crisp, citrus and fresh unisex scent. I loved it then and I still like it, but it feels a little outdated.

Would be fun to try something else from Rochas. Strangely, I have never taken the chance. They are hard to come by here in Sweden ... so, what should I buy online from Rochas?

lyndsey12

I love how refreshing this fragrance is, it has been a favourite of mine for several years now.
Although, I do agree that it is slightly masculine in dry down, almost unisex. Therefore, I have to be in the mood to wear this!
Lovely classy bottle as well :)

Jillzilla

A citrus aromatic in the classic style. Structured, yet somehow a bit masculine after the top notes have worn off. I think I just don't have the right chemistry for it.

mandi

Thanks to Sky for allowing me to test this fragrance.

This fragrance reminds me of something or someone, but i can't put my finger on exactly what or whom just yet. Maybe it was a friend's signature scent?

It is light and crisp, very citrus - the notes that jump out to me from the top notes are lemon, lime and verbena gradually i feel the presence of discreet woody notes; on my skin the flowers are completely mute.

This is a very calming and relaxing scent, what a grown, self aware, woman would would wear while chilling on a warm day.

chyprecat

Oh, this one takes me back a few years. It is lush and fresh and sharp; the perfume equivelant of a white cotton shirt on a hot summer's day beside the sea. Makes me want to take my shoes off and misbehave a little. A frangrance to live in, bath in, get sleepy in and make love in. A superb rendition of the classic citrus and worth every penny, and then some!!!

eilismaireg

Now- this is how CK one should have smelled if it was any good. This is a beautiful cologne which smells truly clean and uplifting with a hint of patchouli which I love. I wear this on hot days and I think it would smell fab on a guy too All in all, i'm really impressed with the house of Rochas- they really make good quality, timeless scents

A strange old-fashioned perfume. Citruses are hardly smelled there. Basil is the leading. I can't say it's a light refreshing scent. No. I reminds me hard spicy aldehydes. I think it's for mature self-confident and a little strict women.
An unusual and interesting one, but I can't get used to it. Luckily I have it in miniature.

I remember coming across this fragrance right before hitting puberty. I quickly fell in love with it then and vowed to make it my favorite fragrance. As time passed, i started having second thoughts about it, probably because i moved from a hot climate country to a much colder one (?). This is most definitely THE fragrance for hot weather. It's ultra citrusy, refreshing and energizing, and it makes me think of a type of music that is mostly written/sung in high notes (Soprano).

I splashed it all over my body for a whole weekend at the Greek sea and it was then that i was first enchanted by this perfume.
this is definitely a sea scent, but not in the sense of today’s aquatic scents. it is sour and salty and sweaty and refreshing at the same time. it carries the whole charm of the Mediterranean – the hot weather, the wind, heated streets and stone buildings, the simple old-time furniture and antiquity of the place, the cuisine and the scent of sea.
it has some of my favourite notes – lime, grapefruit, spices, patchouli, woods, moss.
a skin scent that is naturally fresh, sexy and sophisticated. sometimes dirty, primitive and animalistic… i feel it like that.
and there is also an aristocratic, a-bit-decadent air in it. a strange attraction. definitely provoking imagination and taking to other worlds. this is what i love most about perfumes!
i’m going on holiday very soon, at the same place, and this one will be with me most of the time.

Since I've got this fragrance I fell in love with it. The citrus notes are very light.

Simply a masterpiece, it blends a mineral fresh aspect with a sensual dirty quality. I smells like out-of-the shower freshness with a hint of warm skin. I had a friend that loves this fragrance because it was the only one she could stand when she was pregnant...

I dreamed about this perfume long before I was able to afford it. And when I finally bought it, it was worth both the waiting and every penny it cost, and still is. It was my first perfume and I’m sure it will be a regular in my wardrobe for as long as it remains in production, which I hope is for many many years to come. I have always loved how revitalising it is. The combination of the citruses in the top notes is simply a work of art. I also like its consistency, in that the dry down is not something completely unexpected, like it happens with some perfumes out there in the market. And as for the aesthetics of the presentation, I think they are flawless: water running over clear glass, what better way to evoke the freshness and the crispness of this scent.

Enchant

Starts out very pretty and fresh, but after about 20 minutes I smell a musty scent. I can still smell the fresh scent though, and then the musty note. I am testing a sample so maybe I got a bad one because nobody else has brought it up.

Erfrischender Sommerduft. Auch nach 12 Jahren immer noch aktuell.

Refreshing summer smell. Also after 12 years still topically.

A friend of mine gave me the miniature of this perfume 10 years ago (when I was 12)& I never wore it.. I've always sniffed it from the bottle & put it back in place, I simply didn't like it then..
Now, I sniff it & say in my mind: may be on my skin it won't smell so bad, I think it's OK & refreshing but, I've never tried a citruss Aromatic fragrance on... I imagine myself wearing it , when I'm on a beach overlooking the Mediterranean :)
I'll wear it sometime & tell you how it is like :D

vertigo

a fragrance with a backbone :)
